welcome home.

it's so great to read your words again.
from dearedwin :
bring achren back!
from sundaygirl :
absolute craziness!
from affiliate19 :
Your guestbook has been overrun by a myriad of terrible virtual zombies apparently surviving on spiced ham. It must have been something you ate. My aunt used to tell me that about mosquitoes, that if you ate something they liked, you would get bit. I thin she lied though, because I spent one whole summer eating nothing but oranges, and got bit, and then the beginning of fall was all cilantro (which must totally be the antithesis of oranges) and I got bit. Anyhow. RE: "white on red". I am so with you. Get me the fuck out of this sterile funk and back to my notebook jazz. Happiness wasn't supposed to cost so much. =\
from might :
Ay, BPAL! Me too, with the growing collection and the incessant playing and forcing my wrists on unsuspecting loved ones. Smell this one!
from idiomatic :
des moines is so long gone, you have no idea.
from affiliate19 :
YOU!!! Quit prowling around the int4rw3b and reminding me that there are way too many awesome people I've been extremely poor about getting in touch with. And you know, it really ought to be succinctity. It has a much better ring to it. Fo' sho!
from glass-arcade :
I can relate to that last bit of HP too. Grief is a tricky matter and intensely personal, you deal with it however you must and ignore the ones who try to tell you it's the wrong way. There is no wrong way. A farm in the country sounds perfect, I'm quite envious.
from ilfordhp5 :
hi! i didn't mean to cause any confusion, i'm just building up my reading list slowly. i doubt strongly you know me (i've never really had much of a journal) but i've been reading your journal on and off for a while. all my other old favorite diaryland people are gone! alas!
from discodave :
I'm so ashamed...I've fixed it, but the stupidity will linger. Dxx
from rainhammers :
how about kathleen edwards or mary timony? they both have new albums out. xo
from glass-arcade :
Oh yes, it's so very much a winter thing. Every single person I know (including myself) is either wrapped in a cloak of crankiness or having some severe turbulance in their lives. Hopefully that old adage holds true.."winter will pass, spring will come"..and not simply seasonally.
from basal :
hi
from glass-arcade :
Are you watching Earthsea? Rather wrong some of it is..
from indie-anna :
baby, i could never hate you at shows (or anywhere for that matter). this particular guy just really irritated me cause he pushed people out of his way, stood there, put ear plugs in, and then crossed his arms over his chest & scowled. he also only stayed there for one song. were he ENJOYING the show & wearing ear plugs, i'd be quite fine with that. xo.
from glass-arcade :
the episode of Angel that broke my heart was the one in which he had one perfect day with her but the price is that he'd be the only one able to remember it.
from auroraborea :
oui, 'twas me. i have taken a break for a bit; things have been ... not good. but i hope to come back at some point. i do miss it. i'm sure you understand :)
from vocalfern :
i enjoy reading your lovely diary... i've been reading for over a year. you make me want to pack up and move west. <3 bee
from beagle47 :
ta,ta. a most entertaining diary, 'twas. all my best. peace. (and i really mean that).
from auroraborea :
i was reading some of your older entries (from way back -- old skool!) and there was this one little bit that stuck out at me 'watch the stars spin for awhile' and i love love love it, and i had to tell you. because you are a fantastic writer, no matter how long it takes to write something, no matter how much you may doubt yourself, no matter what. see, it's all there. i have the proof. xo.
from auroraborea :
it's like, you just gotta force it. but then it stops being fun, and writing should be FUN once in awhile, dammit! yr boy sounds lovely, by the way, and i am happy that you are so happy with him. xo.
from discodave :
Snow Patrol are a little too hit and miss for me - I prefer the Reindeer Setion, really. And what's wrong with FF anyway? Dxx
from discodave :
It took me a while but finally I've actually read the line at the top of your profile. You were right, it is a great book. Dxx
from beagle47 :
re: 04.18.2004...Ben Folds Five or Freedy Johnston.
from auroraborea :
mmm ... she is getting her teacher's cert. (she has been teaching at home in bangkok for the past three years) and i think it's a 2-year program so i am determined to save up vacation days. she says it's gorgeous; i know it is, and i can't wait to go :)
from unkas :
turns out the song was "get up" by sleater-kinney an all girl alternative-pop band out of washington state. thier on killrockstars rocrds and the video ca be seen there.
from discodave :
Guestbooks. Bah. Anyway - I was going to complain at you destroying my social life with that link until I remembered you probably owed me payback for that Text-Twist one I directed you to a while back. Dxx
from auroraborea :
i know! i should write more! should should should ... i hope you don't take my notes as annoying because i am only kidding, really. despite the bouts of (understandable) homesickness, you seem happy (i hope?) and that is wonderful. it is hard to live with your heart in two places -- i do it now, and struggle with it, as do you. yet every day, there is something new here, something illuminating, no matter how small. but i think you know that, you are a smart girl :) sending good thoughts ... xo.
from beagle47 :
ordinary. extra ordinary. extraordinary. i dunno, just thinkin'...
from curejeff :
hi, I enjoyed reading your diary, it's really sweet and interesting.
from discodave :
I second what Stevie says, although I'm glad to see you back here from time to time. Dxx
from cybercoward :
re: 01.13.2004 | 2:05 pm | continental drift | i swear to God my dogs know.
from unkas :
hi i came across your diary while searching the lyrics of a song and have a question for you. in your diary entry which can be seen here: http://achren.diaryland.com/older15.html in the 11.22.2001 entry you have a quote that says "goodbye small hands, goodbye small heart". did you get that from a song and if so do you remember the songs name? i just saw a really good music video from an all girl group which containted that phrase in the lyrics and i'm hoping you can help me out. the show unfortunately didn't have a caption saying who they were. i have the shows phone number and can call in and ask if you don't know and didn't get the quote from a song but i thought what the hell, couldn't hurt to ask.
from discodave :
Why do I even bother with guestbooks anymore? Happy Holidays, hon. Did I mention how pleased I was that Vi survived to the end of Buffy? Dxx
from cybercoward :
<bows> your majesty? if i may, never forget from whence you came and forever yours shall be the throne. -the court jester. "for her...the finest silk. now, off with his head!"
from discodave :
You are, now and forever, a complete star. I'm not forgetting I promised you High Fidelity, either (though it probably won't hit your doormat until after Christmas). Dxx
from glass-arcade :
it won't make sense but thank you..usually it's books which make me think or draw parallels but your words about small gestures startled me into a realisation which may wind up saving everything. So your writings do touch and have an effect on people, it's only a matter of time before you make that literary leap. Heh, enough of the sappy and it's quite alright to be melodramatic when PMSing, it's your right as a girl :)
from discodave :
I'm tempted to change that link on my menu bar to say "sign - if the bloody thing is in a benevolent mood" Thanks, though ;) Dxx
from discodave :
Effin' guestbooks... I second everything Steve said - although Grizzly Adams always scared me a little. Go study trolls and dragons and kelpies and stuff. You know you want to. And can. Dxx p.s. Happy belated birthday to your mum.
from cybercoward :
she scribed "aren't you the strange one" and he cowers "aren't you a saint for noticing?" thank you, and hope it was the best.
from glass-arcade :
Happy birthday! Hope it's filled with much drink, merryment and hilarity..
from cybercoward :
oh, and please make that "happy birthday" if you can. i fucking hate spelling errors. ;)
from cybercoward :
trip on this...i wanted to be the first one to wish you a happy birtday so i am doing it today, one day early. and i know why, but i will never tell (and it is not that hot portrait you posted or anything untoward, so no need to freak-out as i would if i received this note). achren? you don't know me, but happy birtday. sincerely, meaningfully and with a sappy hope that this one will be just, well, everything wonderful the universe may offer in a single day. "pairmt."
from glass-arcade :
oh damn, i just got back and found out about Buster, I'm so sorry.
from cautionary :
concerning buster: awwww :( i'm sorry. xo.
from extravagaria :
hugs and warmest of thoughts to you, ms. m. i'm so sorry.
from cybercoward :
dammit, "believe" me, not "belive" me. dammit.
from cybercoward :
hi. you don't know me and belive me, you don't really want to know me. however, at the risk of being known, i write: "have you considered Seattle?" something about your last entry says "Seattle" to me (noting that i skipped the movie review part for fear of getting too much before i see it). there, then, all written out. best o' luck, now back to some extra reading...
from discodave :
In case the guestbook didn't work...again...If I'm going to be writing loads of crap and forcing it on people, I insist you write as well (even if you think it's rubbish) because, without doubt, you are a far, far better writer than I. Dxx
from fiftythou :
M., I'm doing an interview series for NaNoWriMo participants. Would you like to partake?
from discodave :
Heh - I had a browse round (tragic, I know) - there's one for the ladieeez as well, I see. Women and fish - not the most romntic equation there. Dxx
from fiftythou :
isweartogoodnessionlyclickedthatonce. like all those other times.
from discodave :
Damn - I only got 7 for that quiz. The Rags' costume looks fantastic, as far as I recall and Emma Frost would cost too much in peroxide or wig expenses, wouldn't she? Dxx
from discodave :
Fashin' rashin' guestbooks (as said in a Muttley voice) I almost laughed out loud at the "food is just a conduit for salt" comment. Dxx
from glass-arcade :
oh I dont know about it seeming something else, it just seemed like someone you were keen about (not necessarily romantically) which is always a good thing. I'll cross my fingers and toes for Buster at his appt. Are you looking at grad schools? I'm looking into them and it's all so daunting, I can't figure out exactly where I want to be.
from glass-arcade :
hi molly, just a note to say I'm hoping Buster is doing okay (and you of course) is there a new boy or am I reading too much in your last entry? Good luck with nanowrimo, the verdict is still out on me jumping into the fray heh.
from h1016268 :
get over yourself.
from discodave :
Thankjs for the comment, hon - I'll argue the point about your quips being well up to par if you want. Dxx
from hyacinthgirl :
hi molly, scrabble747 has moved to hyacinthgirl.diaryland.com. cheers!
from glass-arcade :
Thanks Molly!! Your timing was impeccable and the postcard was an added treat since I actually collect them for wall decor, you do realise that this puts you in my mix tape queue. I've proclaimed October Mix Tape Month since November is eaten up by novel writing and Dec-Jan will be filled with last minute tour oraganising details.
from glass-arcade :
blah, the guestbook crashed my browser. I think what I said was: I always marvel when I see people I know connected to someone else I know but had no clue they know each other..eek that's a run on sentance and a half heh. I rather like Friendster though.
from glass-arcade :
November eh? Well that works for me, icy roads and cranky Jettas are a bad mixture so if I have to take a hiatus from anything music related (unless some really great gig is going on) that might be my ticket to keeping my sanity. It sure beats trying to learn how to knit or something equally as wintertime tedious.
from glass-arcade :
damn these foilsome guestbooks anyway. So nanowrimo, I always miss it and belatedly hear about it. When does it take place, I want in this time..it might be the only thing that lights a fire under my arse to actually write.
from baignoire :
hey sweetie. i changed the pword. i realized that people would not know it but i never got the chance to mail out the new pword. someone was reading things i didn't want him to read. i'll let you kno the pword asap.
from glass-arcade :
I think listing the haves is excellent and maybe I'm wrong but aren't you taking a road trip soon? It could very well be what sparks decision..road trips usually do. If I ever have a pin ball duel, will you be my second?
from habbit :
yes you will.
from indie-anna :
actually my dear, i have a date for an entire west coast karaoke tour - portland being a definite early stop. wanna come with? :) & thank you so much dearie, you are fabulous. <3 xo.
from allumeuse :
Miss M.- gbooks are funky again tonight. Anyway, I think my relocation is becoming an annual tradition; I left my last journal August of last year as well. The new (well, three weeks old) repository is something of a secret, so if you do not mind, may I e-mail it's URL instead?
from discodave :
Just in case the guestbook is as screwed as ever - happy Dland birthday, Molly m'dear. Dxx
from cautionary :
ugh, isn't that evanescence song the WORST THING EVER CREATED? well, i am sure i could think of worse.. but still.
from glass-arcade :
Wouldnt you know that I wrote you a gbook message before I read your comment :) You were definately not the journal that my answer referred to, because a.) that would be petty, whatever disagreement we had is as out of my mind as a current boy band single and b.) I've read entries of yours which gave me goosebumps. Oh and a pint makes my eyes all round too :)
from cautionary :
thank you very much(!) xo.
from discodave :
I'm not even risking the guestbooks this time. I do like the covers, but I guess I like the simplicity of the black and white too much to be happy with the new ones. Remind me to email you at some point - it's been a while. Dxx
from habbit :
from one new yorker to another, hi. i like your writing.
from cautionary :
at least it isn't florida hot.
from baignoire :
hey girl girl. i AM moving west and you CAN have my pw if you give me your email or just shoot me one ([email protected]). i will be attending reed this fall! huzzah!
from indie-anna :
not only would we have gotten it, i can say that we've had the *exact*. same. conversation. in fact, we've discussed wedding dresses made of dryer sheets. i think you'd also appreciate that. mwah! <3 xo.
from cautionary :
argh. typos. anyway! i got red & white polka dot fli(f)pflops at old navy. they will probably wear out by the end of the month but red with white POLKA DOTS? come on. i feel like i should be at a 50's beach party.
from cautionary :
i am very loyal to my flipflops. & thank you for WEARING flipflops because people think i am weird for that. granted, i live in florida, so i must wear them at all times. red flifplops are the best<3 and ross [dressforless!] has cheap shoes. love it.
from the10thfloor :
it's a coat darlin'. & she sttrrrrrriiiips it off. & it would look hot on you. & thank you soooooooooooooo much. <3 xo.
from indie-anna :
you know - i've been trying to remember if the l&l is the bar place she talks about back home or if it's this weird place her ex-boyfriend worked at. i think i need to start paying better attention cause there's some place he worked where he listened to a little radio & gross old ladies play bingo or scratch lottery tickets or... something... dude - i dunno. all's i know is she sometimes starts stories with, "we were at the l&l, this place back home..." man. i don't know. i just liked that you wrote about it & i'd heard of it. <3 xo.
from elliemulder :
Stupid guestbooks - I was trying to say: "Thank you for pretty Roddy news - waking up to a world with the prospect of no more Ryan Adams, a reminder that there will always be pretty Scottish boys is goooood xx" but it wouldn't let me :/
from avoidance :
ohhhhh it looks good!
from indie-anna :
good golly miss molly ( ibet you never heard that one before), send me yr address & i'll send you goodies galore. :) & tonite all my wonderful karaoke plans fell thru. much sadness. tear. ;) <3 xo.
from avoidance :
i don't still have it, but i can recreate it. the gray with black box? did you want it to say "execution of all things" or would you like something different? you can email me ([email protected]) and tell me what links and stuff you want or i could just give you the basic template and you can change it around. i feel like such a web design geek (and i'm totally not) but i don't mind at all. xo.
from disquiet :
okay. so signmyguestbook is not letting me post, unless it's my drunkenness that's getting in the way. regardless, and this may be the third time i send this information: saturday 4/18 = the prom, carissa's wierd, and (!!!!!!!) the long winters in bellingham, wa. i will be there, and it would be more than lovely if you were, too! <3<3<3.
from avoidance :
the thing that annoys me the most about myself is that i can never leave things the way they are. no matter what it is. i can't listen to the same music for a certain amount of time (unless it's something i REALLY love), i always rearrange my bedroom, i change my clothes at least twice a day, i cut my hair once a month. i always thought it was some sort of OCD, i just realize that i like change but hate it at the same time. and that was really long to just explain that i change my layout a lot because i have some sort of weird disorder. i'm shutting the fuck up now.
from discodave :
OK, the email isn't good, but you know. Call me back. Dxx
from indie-anna :
dude - you should totally kick her out. i'd like them 10,000 times better if it were you in her place. i'm one'a those guys who likes the murder city devils much better than pretty girls make graves (though i <3 them too). but yes. you are so in. <3 xo.
from bionicgurl :
i really love your writing. it always makes me think
from discodave :
To echo Jeremy, where are you woman? Get an email to my inbox henceforth and forthwith. Forsooth. Um, yeah...I'll shut up now. Hi, by the way. Dxx
from starlight42 :
Just stopping by again. Sounds like you had a fun weekend. Did you really see Keanu Reeves? That would be so cool, he's so handsome.
from fuschiashock :
there are quite a few old diaries and broken links in your death cab for cutie diaryring. you might want to go through and remove them sometime.
from maralisa :
username=passport, password=control xx
from scatterproof :
then you're _incredibly_ confusing. i'm going to need nine hours of sleep and several days of complete sobriety to figure this one out. ;
from starlight42 :
Just visiting...where are you originally from? you're in austrailia now? try to enjoy it. I have a friend here in Michigan & I know she's homesick for New Zeland, where she's from...
from neuroticaa :
lovely journal. i like this. one more entry and you'll have a thousand - yikes! that's crazy! <3
from towelphaser :
i've wanted to go to australia for as long a s i can remember. i'm living vicariously through you.
from towelphaser :
yeah, you're pretty much bang on about the douglas adams thing. impressive. but your entry seemed familiar for some reason, so i did a little digging. check this out. ignore the rant about my crotch smelling like batteries. http://towelphaser.diaryland.com/crotchnum2.html
from towelphaser :
no way you wrote about vapour trail. that's MY song. you rule.
from disquiet :
i know i'm waaaaaaay belated, but the only internet access i have is at my 9-5, m-f job. so happy belated birthday. i'd give you a hug if i was in oz. :) xoxo.
from insearchof :
you lost your ring, i lost my love. i guess we're pretty much on the level
from kymee :
There's a link I left in Stevie's guestbook that you should take a look at if you ever have time, and Jawbreaker was on USA this morning. Hope things look sunnier upside down.
from kneesocks :
thank you! i actually have a zillion different reds i use - first i bleach the streaks, then i mix lariche pillarbox red with an old punky color red and a red from hot topic (gross, i know) - i think its called special effects or something. and thats it. xoxo -h
from burkenstocks :
wait, wait, wait -- you like banana runts? i bet you like black licorice, too. i recently heard that they once tried to give all of the banana runts and black licorice chuckles to a third world country, but still nobody ate them. that's fucking rough. ** -joe.
from cheapseats :
you know - I keep checking my buddy list when I wake up in the morning (or, since it's the weekend, the early afternoon) and going "whoa, molly's been up late!". And then I think, "No, no....Pacific Standard Time" and retreat shamefacedly to go cook breakfast. Cheers.
from kirliecue :
Hey... I work for a music promotions company in Atlanta called Wiley Music. We have a project coming up in New York that you could earn $100 for. If you'd like more information, please email me at [email protected] today. Thanks!
from angsthase :
My friend in Philadelphia who works for Megatouch informed me that they will soon be doing an update of images for the titty touch game. They're apparently from the same batch of images as the current game, but didn't make the original cut because they were too trashy. Just thought you might like to know.
from indie-anna :
i went there for the first time in january, and while my lazy friends were sleeping in the hotel, i walked over there and fell in love with that place. i wanted to stay, and become the crazy lady who lives in the castle. that would be fun, no? ;)
from finding-home :
just thought i'd let you know: i love your writing, and i love reading each and every update. i can relate to many things you write about. example? the things you collect, i am the same way, have more than six boxes of memories that need to be sorted through. but i can never get up the courage to throw anything out. anyway, sorry for such a long message.
from rhoeng :
i didn't read your diary but i gotta say....naming your diary after a river in hades was quite clever.
from angsthase :
It's a little confusing. The paper lists it as Eric Bachmann solo, but I saw a poster downtown advertising it as Crooked Fingers. I'm going to gather that it's Bachmann playing Crooked Fingers tunes by himself. The guy from Spoon is opening up, and I really don't like them. Whatever I choose, it's turning out to be a rockin' week for me, as it looks like I'm seeing the Hives on Friday in Philadelphia...
from discodave :
Did I tell you I was Sagittarius? Dxx
from angsthase :
friday sounds good...I'll see you there.
from angsthase :
thanks for the offer. I would have come over, if I hadn't had yet another night of my life hijacked by the crises of others. What are you up to on Friday?
from addieplum :
oh! i totally love that episode, especially when stimpy is threatening to touch the button with his ass!
from glitterscars :
I got here of Stevie's diary and I just wanted to say I thought that entry those fucks ripped apart was great. You have to worry about people who have nothing better to do with their time than make fun of other people's words. Can they even write themselves?
from angsthase :
Wow. What a bunch of tools. I think the user icons speak plenty about these bulletin board goobers...Steve Dallas, Scooby Doo, That picture of Yo La Tengo...
from discodave :
I go out and it's like the lyrics to How Soon is Now, except that's the way I ultimately want it to be. If they did come up and speak, if they did like me, would I like them? Would they end up disappointing me because they aren't who I want them to be? Either way, it would be nice if they came up to speak to me... I need to buy myself a plane, so I can go on a whistle stop tour of the States with a jumbo size bottle of Vodka. I'd pay you a visit and we'd share a litre or two. Dxx
from angel-gurl08 :
i just thought you should kno seeing that you are the head of the oliver wood diary ring....his name is sean biggerstaff and he is 19. well lata
from slothropey :
I have to say that I have really enjoyed reading your diaryland diary. I think that purple bunnies are the coolest kind too.
from discodave :
I don't know, it sounds a bit like now someone thinks you're attractive, you want other people you've liked that way before to think of you that way too. I think I've done it before, it's like "Everyone else thinks I'm great, so why don't you? Come on, you know what I'm really like, you must like me?" I think it's maybe you know this guy better, so its less of a risk 'cos there's not going to be any surprises. I don't know, don't ask me, I'm still in a funny place anyway. LoL Dxx
from dial-revenge :
you're really beautiful.
from angsthase :
My second going away party never happened. I spent the last bit of time in NYC working too hard and drinking too much. I'm actually going to be in town next weekend. I don't know what my plans are, besides work, or even where I'm staying, but I want to try and see people if I can.
from bistromath :
I am in central Washington, mossing those moments of my simpler youth, and Eugene being part of them, I never lived there, only visited, and have now conned friends and roomies to move there when they finish their 7 year bachelors. (lots of people go to school for 8 years...) after perusing your diary I have a slightly psychotic drunken question. Actually I wrote the question and deleted it. I need a privater e-mail to ask something that could possibly be that personal. I doubt it, I couldn't beleive in the randomness of the ether, the infospace, but, send me a note on a private email system... use [email protected] I hope you can delete this from your page, but did you live in Elmira?
from angsthase :
Hey! How many people do you know who just moved to Georgia with their girlfriend? Athens is full of hippies. How are you?
from bistromath :
We backed the Taliban into office during the russian/afghan conflict. Not that that makes a difference as, as the worlds big brother I guess we could say, "We brought you into power, and we can take you right out of it" Does gandalf really look the way you pictured him? Modest Mouse at the Crystal Ballroom. Hmm. I wish, best I could settle for is Pete Yorn at the Croc.
from superunison :
thanks for the compliments. i appreciate. and, at the risk of sounding to forward, i don't think it's inappropriate for nice girls to want to get laid, and say it. just my opinion. in case you are like me and have the tendency to read into others' comments don't worry about it. good moooozic in the profile btw. thanks chris
from disquiet :
oh.mygoodness. yr musical taste is divine.. and oh yeah, the writing is too. nice to know so many indie rock cats are floating about in d-land. :) take care. x/s.

hey lil lady! you are so bee-yoo-tee-full to me can't you seeeeeeeeeeee? just wanted you to know that. xo surly

sure you didn't mean it like that. right-o. and now i'm all alone on 34th street with my hurt. tee. xo, k.
from daidalos :
righto. putting an entry in this guestbook simply because. i listened to all of curtis mayfield's "superfly" earlier. i am one bad mother. and i can hardly tell you what a disappointment it is that you were never much into the o-g nes action set. i fucking loved that gaming system. i would have married it, if it were possible to have human-nintendo action set marriages.
from fuboowuzzle :
Merry christmas.. happy holidays.. whatever...
from surly :
me think you fantastic!
