Happy Birthday 2007.
from discodave :
You too, sweetheart - I hope this year will be as good as the last one for you. Dxx
from raven72d :
Tuscandy and Lombardy and the Veneto are beautiful. I, alas, am deathly allergic to both cheese and tomato.
from raven72d :
Great boots.
from raven72d :
Were I in the city, I'd certainly come by to offer you champagne...
from raven72d :
Sounds like a great Chrismukkah Eve!!
from raven72d :
Enjoy the holiday and have a great time next year!
from raven72d :
Merry Chrismukkah!
from raven72d :
corn meal... i hadn't thought of corn meal in a long time...
from raven72d :
Thank you muchly!
from raven72d :
did you like Martin Amis' "Dead Babies"? and, yes... I've just been reading your very early entries... I should've been reading you for all these months...
from raven72d :
I should love to see the film... And I'll be looking forward to the questions...
from raven72d :
I hope you'll be around and posting for the long term.
from sixweasels :
Thanks for that link - it made me smile. I intend to do just that once I've sulked like a wounded animal for a day or two. After all, I'm so good at being a dumbass! Hugs - we'll all get through this somehow.
from raven72d :
Just discovered your diary today-- and found it delightful. I'm exploring outward from your links to books and bands and cities... And I will be reading here often.
from dearedwin :
i can too sign that fast, mr. signmyguestbook! i said: oh, how i love the heathers-ness of that comment. a girl after my own heart!
from allmadhere :
Just remembered another Jesus & Mary Chain soundtrack appearance: Doom Generation. Can't remember if you mentioned that one. I have both (it and Love and a .45) if you ever want them burned. Don't know if I ever mentioned it but I met a girl in college once who told me she called either Jim or William Reid (can't remember which) on the phone. She said she just got their number through information. She said he really seemed freaked out about it and she was sorry for doing it. Just a funny little story to share. :)
from dearedwin :
hey now--i just realized about the password protection. are you giving it out?
from astronautm :
Hi there - couldn't sign your guestbook for some reason. Many thanks for the kind note. I don't know what's happening in my life right now, but it's certainly no fun. Take care, s.
from smartypunk :
The Washdown were great last night. My friends put out their new album so I was excited to finally get to see them live. Those boys are totally crushworthy! (It is indeed a tiny world.)
from opensecret :
I do take to heart special requests.
from jonathan :
Happy New Year!
from astronautm :
Belated good luck wishes with the new job. Hope it works out.
from sixweasels :
I'm playing catch-up here and just learning about all you've been through lately. Keeping you and The Boy in my thoughts.
from pmattie :
My fellow Indieflicker: THANKS FOR THE VOTES! As I have been tallying the votes, I have noticed sadness because I asked for only the TOP 3. So, I am deciding to make an exception for those of you who are torn...so if you need to vent ur spleen, send some more flicks my way and I'll put 'um in the list! Pmattie
from pmattie :
Hello again my little Shoe Monkeys! For those of you who are oldies but goldies and for those of you who are fresh off the press, I am doing my "Ode To Independent Films" again. I noticed that it was only a short year ago that I did it, and back by popular demand, here ya go: Tell me your top 3 favorite indie flicks at the present time." In a week, I'll post the results...Happy hunting!--Pmattie
from glass-arcade :
oh you're right, everyone *is* sick..it seems colds and the flu are most rampant. I think in my case it's a bit of the treatment is worse than the illness since it seems I'm icky from side effects. You're on friend**ster, right? feel free to add me :)
from discodave :
OK - that's frightening - no junk food, but you eat porridge. Were we seperated at birth or something? Dxx p.s. I meant the food snob thing as a compliment, you know?
from discodave :
It could be like Top Ramen - that was the comparison I was going to make - simply because it seems about as popular/derided/a guilty pleasure. Having only had my first Pot Noodle last night, I can't really consider myself an expert. What's the rarified air of impeccable culinary taste like, anyway? Dxx
from hyacinthgirl :
hi! scrabble747 has moved to hyacinthgirl.diaryland.com. cheers!
from smartypunk :
Mmmmm... Q. I love the mac & cheese with tots, but I opted for the fried chicken and their dreamy mashed potatoes. Great place to meet up wiht a friend on a cold, foggy SF night!
from indie-anna :
awww. :) well thanx. :) dave is one'a my favourite people ever, and if yr down with him then yr down with me. <3 xo.
from smartypunk :
Thanks for the note. I'm back at work and sad that vacation is through. Trying hard to re-focus! I don't know about a benfit show for the Exploding Hearts at Bottom of the Hill, but there's one on the calendar for The Parkside on August 18th. Contact John - [email protected] or Terrence - [email protected] at The Parkside for info. - Gina
from discodave :
Thanks for the guestbook message, hon - I tried replying yesterday, but the whole thing's gone a bit pear-shaped. I was almost glad (no near-pun intended) you hadn't been able to update too - I felt like I hadn't missed so many of my favourites after all. Dxx
from glass-arcade :
You need to write a travel giude, seriously I'd buy it :)
from travelogue :
What parts of Italy will I be trekking through? Hmmm. Excellent question. That part of my trip is so far away I have few details in mind, though I know that Rome will be a likely focal point, with the Vatican and all that touristy jazz. Oh, and that place with the bodies entombed in lava sounds rather special as well. Have you any other suggestions?
from maralisa :
Just having that scary moment where I find myself visiting a diary one day, and the next find I'm listed as a favourite - if your brain is somehow linked into mine I apologise ;)
from mydyingbeta :
a hello kitty guitar, that would be something! did you know they make hello kitty toilet paper and also vibrators, (sorry, don't mean to gross you out or anything, and no, unfortunately i don't have one, *sarcasm*) my first job was the hello kitty store at the mall. i loved it. what girl wouldn't?
from girlypop :
Hi! No, my mum has been living in Greece with my dad for over 30 years now. But she's still French :)
from astronautm :
Exactly, 003.
from astronautm :
Hi. That's interesting that there is more than one version of Brotherhood of the Wolf. I don't recall a taxidermy scene, but so much seemed to be going on in that film i may have missed it. I'm not a big fan of dubbing dialogue on the whole, but it wasn't too jarring in this case. It's very much a film i want to see again. Hope you are well, a.m
from gallinula :
yes, but isn't it just silly that someone would even be tote a waterbottle? like wearing to work a pair of dirty, fuzzy slippers from home. . .
from infrequency :
cookies? hmmmm, i think we can work something out.
from pmattie :
Starting tomorrow (10/10/02) I am going to compile a list of the fellow indieflicks memebers' favorite indie flicks. I am taking suggestions for best indie flick ever and also for anyone that listens to indie rock, which bands they think rock the casbah! Let me know what you think and I will put your suggestions on my diary. I will stop collecting suggestions in a week (10/17/02) and then on the 18th, I will make the lists. Happy hunting!!!
from pollymoog :
thanks for the props on favorites. i'm up for the mix cd trade. should we choose a theme? west coast bands vs. east coast perhaps!
from pollymoog :
what do you say to a mixtape trade? i suspect that it would be grand, considering you and me both are on the same wavelength these days with interpol.
from mind-thegap :
You should go check out Interpol live, if you haven't already.
from autumnal :
theres something beautiful about you. found you from your banner. happy i did.
from ladygoodman :
that helps...a little. ;) solencio!
from rhoeng :
the numerous references to the JAMC are fantastic--good on you.
from toothbrush :
I joined your bella-italia diaryring! I love the Italian flag you have up for the ring code. Yaaaaaaay, Italy!
from astronautm :
Your mix tape sounds pretty good, tho' i have to admit ignorance of Poi Dog Pondering. "Personal Jesus" is a fantastic track, as is the 12" of "Enjoy the Silence". Great video too.
from blue-scribe :
how mysterious!
from bowhead :
you are the CZARINA, I'm telling you. I finally got up the nerve to take your advice and put an ad in at nerve.com. I met someone who's even more parental toward his cats than I am, who digresses into unrelated strange anecdotes even more than I do, and who shares my deep suspicion for men over age 25 who still wear their class rings. Thanks for re-creating my social life!
from girllogic :
hey sweetie. thanks for the note and the nod of agreement re: elimidate. haven't seen 'fifth wheel', but it sounds pretty horrible, too. chococat rocks! i just got a checkbook holder with her on the cover. i'll add you, too, to my favorite diaries as you were thoughtful enough to add me to yours. -girllogic
from jonathan :
Thanks for adding me to your favourites. Go see ghanima too. I think you should encourage great things from us both. I have some one chapter, sixteen page, C*** exploring Miller-like memories to share. Feels like flashing at a garden party. That's both the joy and trouble with Diaryland - its scope.
from jonathan :
I've joined the Miller Ring. Now for some Miller like activities. Escort Girls.
from ghanima :
had to contact you, after seeing that your biblio-drugs of choice include Miller and Nin, who clatter around my head like mad giraffes. Come out and play...
from jonathan :
Neer let the company book your hotel! They do the safe thing, book you somewhere 'corporate' and NEVER study the detail. Like main roads, easy walking distance to main sites ... better to wing it, look around on arrival. There's always something with greater charm. Then you can tell friends about the place YOU found; it becomes your place.
from toothbrush :
Hi! Thanks for the nice guestbook message. I hope you feel better soon. I am going to see the object of my smit again tomorrow! Woo.
from sixweasels :
Kept getting an error when I tried to get to your guestbook (this is probably the result of my overworked and cranky net connection more than anything else) but I had to tell you that your tales of wine and travel that I've read here tonight are wonderful vicarous living for me! I'll be back again soon - and thanks for visiting Weasel World!
from inez :
ahhh...i caught you're 'industrial' mix at mixtapes...i forgot about mussolini headkick altogether! what about nitzer ebb? and the very very very first pigface? yeah and ministry from 'mind is a terrible thing to taste'! o how i've been gone from that music, i love it though!!
from surrealgrrl :
please excuse this drunken message...it's 2:21am where I am and I am thinking about all those bad things that I shouldn't be...but you are ever so intriguing as I read you- and I thought you should know. oh, yeah...my drunkeness has something to do with it- but all in all I have found you a splendid suprise. please keep up the correspondence. S
from jonathan :
Got here via Henry Miller. You like Anais Nin too. Does anyone write like this in Diaryland though? Love your intinary across London. I saw one in eight years living there - I'd better get back there.
from ferchrissake :
The toilets also don't flush very well in London.
from bee-no187 :
Oh wow! my 1st message! In rebellion to all the wood furnishings I have inherited (i.e. ugly hand-me-downs I must use out of necessity) I purchased the brightest turquise paint I could find and will go slap happy with it very soon. I love your list of year end questions.
from un-bad :
Ooooh Black Reber Motorcycle Club. Yum.
from surferosa :
this particular one was near Aquileia(sp?). There's this harbor for small boats where my parents would put theirs into. We sat on a little peninsula, at the entrance where the other boats were coming in from their daytrips. it was magic! besides that venice rocks my world! thanks for signing! like your style!
from bowhead :
does your white trash dip involve Pace picante sauce with Velveeta melted into it? now THAT's good eatin'.--JDL. p.s.--although it seems more likely that you stumbled across me via the David Lynch diaryring, I would like to think it's actually because we're two of the only three people here who list Jeffrey Steingarten as one of their favorite writers.
