Hey - I recently started getting into anime, and I just want to say I appreciate your reviews. Good stuff. Rock on. (Or "Panzer vor", as the case may be.)
from julymalaise :
Hope you are doing well. I'm bak to diaryland!!
from julymalaise :
Awww... Peter Pan: The Animated Series looks like a cute cartoon!!
from julymalaise :
I'm glad you are updating again, I missed you so!!
from julymalaise :
OMG, that guy I used to date was a Taurus!
from koorikaze :
Hey there! I know it's been a while since I last "chatted" with you, gomen for that. I was just curious if you have ever watched the "Nightwalker" anime? It used to be one of my favorites before Slayers took it's place.
from julymalaise :
I miss you, girl! ="(
from koorikaze :
Congrats on graduating! ^^
from julymalaise :
I missed you too! I'm going to start writing tommorrow, if I can!
from julymalaise :
Yep, Spain was awesome in the World Cup. And i love how late this note is, I'm sorry. It's just that I haven't been in diaryland for a while...
from kelms28 :
I think you made very valid points in your last entry. Not understanding. That's how a lot of problems happen. And you're very right about this generation, the racism nowadays is slim to none. My best friend is black, and so is my new boyfriend. The world's changing and sometimes older generations don't understand, or they just refuse to accept it.
from blackthornh :
Probably because I grew up with Barbie and clones (due to my age), I didn't like the original Bratz and the style they developed over the years. Now? I want to have that Yasmin hanging out with my other girls in my bookshelf. Back when I was a little girl, I could have identified with her becuase of the skin tone and hair (her hair's just like mine!). Maybe that's why I didn't like Barboe and kept torturing the dolls I had. I just couldn't identify with them. Thanks for sharing!
from secret-motel :
I just realized I never did respond to your note. How rude of me. Sorry about that. Anyway, if you liked Videodrome you might want to check out some of Cronenberg's other films. I especially recommend "Naked Lunch" (1991) and "eXistenZ" (1999). Happy exploring!
from julymalaise :
Hey! You rooting for Argentina too? So am I!!! GO ARGENTINA!!! Haahaha, Messi is so cute. I'm rooting for Argentina, South Africa, Spain, England, Brazil, Japan, and Italy, and Paraguay!!!!
from koorikaze :
Hey there. I was wondering if you've ever played DDR. I'm otaku over Smile.dk, and BeForU but my mp3 player also has some Spice Girls. I am kind of in a Weird Al kick at the moment though. ^_^
from julymalaise :
I'm sorry about that. I really liked what you wrote about me, that I'm breezy, I like that. It's cool. Hahhaa. Thanks for your kind words about my journal!! I love your journal as well, and you are right, asians rule!!!
from kelms28 :
hey hey. howve ya been? grr.. some people from school have found my diary.. so im locking it. gimme your email so i can give you a pw, okay? :)
from koorikaze :
Gomen for replying so late. I think we were both under a lot of stress then and still trying to get into the groove of things. It didn't help I was physically unwell at the time. Thank you for your kind and encouraging words, my friend.
from secret-motel :
I'm not going anywhere. And as for film recommendations, the first thing I thought of was "Videodrome" by David Cronenberg and released in 1983. It's a different kind of take on cable TV than what was explored in Network. Acutally, maybe it's not all that different--just far creepier.
from julymalaise :
I'm glad you like the song. The Cardigans are amazing! And no, you are not a dickhead. I actually appreciate the advice because I am so clueless when it comes to guys and all that stuff and I'm so grateful to have friends like you. Maybe I should learn how to communicate with people, I have a hard time doing that, so yeah. You're right. Then, when I feel that I am ready to talk to him, I will. Thanks for all the great advice! You are truly a great person! Lol, and I like that part of the song as well.
from julymalaise :
No, no, it's okay, I know what you are trying to say, hahaha! We actually did talk in this one class, but after that class was over, I don't know, we would just not talk outside of that class. It did talk to me once outside of the class, in the hallway, and that was mostly it. And yeah, I understnad what you are saying, it's better off with someone you really know. Martin's more like an aquainttance, kinda, but is also a friend. Kind of get what mean? It is so hard to expalain!!!
from julymalaise :
Wow MGN and Mattel are working together to make Bratz dolls? That's crazy, man. Absolutely crazy, I remember when I used to play with Barbies and the Bratz. Now, I don't even know why I played with them, lol, because now they have changed from my childhood. Sucks though.
from sugar-pain :
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you! Yes! I love Hikki, but unfortunately I don't live anywhere near where she's going to be playing. Living in Michigan pretty much sucks when you like Asian things. :( Anywho, have a good night! ♥
from secret-motel :
The last two clips I posted are both from "Network", a film directed by Sidney Lumet and released in 1976. It's full of great performances and great speeches. I highly recommend it.
from blackthornh :
I'm an 80's kid. Proud Generation X by US standards. Though I don't live in the US, it was the late 70s and in the 80s when this country's culture was starting to be influenced by the US culture, so I guess I really am Generation X (actually, because of the year I was born in, I'm both X and Y). In any case. I enjoyed both the 80s and 90s equally (in fact, I used to wake up earlier than I should have just to watch Lambchop... and I was a teenager XD *hides*) though some of the things you mentioned in the list were 80s things that crossed over to the 90s, but then again, that doesn't really matter XD. And you're right, the 90s was a nice era to be a kid. No fear of the Cold War or fearing WWIII during Operation Desert Storm... I admit it makes me kind of jealous XD
from julymalaise :
hahahah, thanks for the note and I am glad that I got you addicted to "The Clique." It really is a great series of books. Omg! I totally loved your 90's entry, I remember all of those shows, I remember all of those Nickelodeon shows, and I would watch everyday when I was little. Hey Arnold is a fabulous show! I don't know why they cancelled it.. I remember when Frankie Muinz, Hilary Duff, and Lindsay Lohan were the hottest icons. God, I miss the 90's...
from sugar-pain :
I just randomly came across your journal and was completely amused by the 90's kid thing. I'd like to push the date back to 1984 though, because I'm a full fledged child of the 90's, and I'm 25 years old. When I think back about being a kid...everything you listed just makes me all nostalgic. I miss the good old days of Nickelodeon and Fox Kids. I feel bad for this new generation of kids because they'll never really get to experience what we had. It makes me sad. :( Anywho, just thought I'd pop in and say hi. Hope you don't mind if I add you. ♥
from animejournal :
seriously I mean, it's a really messed up fandom! All the girls I know love it. And I just can't see why! I tried to get into Twilight....I just can't feel it. And when I love, I love strong. That's when i know it's good.
from julymalaise :
I like Twilight, but I have to agree with you, people make a big deal about it, like it's the best thing in the whole, wide planet and now they are making all of these stupid vampire shit on T.V. And I think Jake is cuter than Edward, Edward has no chance against Jake, I do not see the attraction girls get when they see Edward, Jake is more BETTER! But like, why all of a sudden these vampire craze? The originial vmapire series that will never get old and is such a great classic is Buffy The Vampire Slayer. That show kicks ass and it is so much better than Twilight, times ten. Yeah, I hate Hannah Montana too, she sucks, she has no talent, like you have said, and she's just fake in my opinion.
from famoustn :
Yeah, I like that movie a lot. You're righting a novel? That's chill.
from julymalaise :
Wow, I never knew they had them at the dollar store, I am gonna spend my money there! LOL! I know they had some of them at the five below, but it was only the first couple of ones and I have already read them. I own some copies of the Baby-Sitters Club, but I stoled them from my elementary school, ahhaha. Yeah, I shall look in the library when I have a chance, what didn't I think of that before?
from blackthornh :
Chose New York because I have an aunt living there. If my grandma had been alive, I would have gone to Lousiana. But I don't intend fro this to be my last trip to the US, so maybe I can visit one day ^_^. And I'm also excited for the Princess and the Frog movie! I hope it comes here soon!
from koorikaze :
Not a problem. Your diary is very fun to read and never dull. ^_^ Ki o tsukete!
from julymalaise :
I like your diary too! and thanks for saying you like mine, I will add you! Omg! I want to read all of the Baby-Sitter club books before I die, it's on my bucket list, hahah. Omg! And where did you get all of the books at? The library? I should look there!
from kelms28 :
Myazaki is teaming up with Disney!! Aren't you excited?! I'm gonna go to the midnight screening of Ponyo! I can NOT wait!!
from blackthornh :
Did a search on the Moxie Girlz. I like them! Specially Sophina. Hope they come to this side of the border. I'd love one for my random collection!
from wtng4lezlie :
Gantz!
from blackthornh :
I haven't listened to Utada's Sanctuary yet, but it seems that now I will have to ^_^
from julymalaise :
Oh my gosh, I love Valerie Tripp too! She made mostly all of the Molly and Samantha books, I'm pretty sure of that! I love the American Girl series, they are kick-ass girls. Okay, by the way, your diary totally rocks. May I add you?
from blackthornh :
I'm and anime and manga person. It's just that in this little corner of the world, legally licensed manga is more available than legally licensed anime. Mexican dvd companies are concentrating either on short series, extremely popular series (Dragon Ball, Naruto and Saint Seiya) or classic childhood series. But I hope this is just the beginning and that other series get licensed.
from blackthornh :
Mind if I add you to my buddy list? I don't bite, I swear!! I just fangirl too much...
from kelms28 :
Hey thanks! Technically, he's not mine. Yet. :) Gotta get rid of that girlfriend and it'll be awesome! Hehe, Cool diary btw!
from kurai-yousei :
Gomen for not replying earlier. I lost my password for this account and have been dealing with laptop troubles. *sweatdrops* I am actually teaching myself Japanese and an hoping to major in Asian studies. I do like manga (Card Captor Sakura and Suki are my faves) and anime. I am even trying to finish a fanfiction which involves crossovers of my favorite animes and shows. Anyway, I have typed a bit much. Take care and hope to chat soon.
from famoustn :
Haha. Thanks. :)
