Another Great Big Sea/Stuart McLean fan!! YES! ANNND...you like Moxy Fruvous!!! WOW!!!
from athena98122 :
wordy mc word. that is all.
from aradia13 :
Good to know that it isn't just me feeling that way. It feels like the whole place has just been taken over by the newbies (and not even ones who know the band at that). It's totally lost it's appeal - I've even taken myself off the recent users list entirely.
from goovie :
word. i haven't felt welcome at fhdc for months, and that's a sad way to feel about a place i've been frequenting since 1999, a place where i met so many of the people i love.
from cdenise :
I wanted to congratulate you on being a famous photographer!!! :D And you hit the nail right on the head...FHDC isn't a community anymore and whomever thinks it is (the head of state included) is sorely mistaken. Most of us speak to each other off the site, not on it.
from cdenise :
This was a piece supposedly written by State Representative Mitchell Kaye of Georgia. It turned out to be not written by him. I remember reading that in May of 2000 when it circulated the internet and Pissed of a Fruhead who flamed me in an email not knowing who it was written by. I told her to send her flames to the author. The piece was actually written by Libertarian writer and former U.S. Senate candidate Lewis Napper in 1993.
from longlac :
oops! typo.. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/stephen_fearing_club *g*
from longlac :
fix the link! *g* it's actually http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/stephen_fearing_club :)
from aradia13 :
It's not either of you...never fear. If said pissed off person is even reading my diary, he/she knows who I am speaking of... :)
from cdenise :
WTF? You're not pissing me off either! :)
from longlac :
you certainly aren't pissing me off - we've just had lousy timing lately :) I should be on sometime after 7:30 tonight if AIM cooperates *g*
from cdenise :
yeah, it might be nice if they don't speak. But imagine walking on pins and needles to make sure that person doesn't blow up in your face with garbage while not talking. It's like a time bomb waiting to go off. :\
from cdenise :
Your family sounds like mine. My father once didn't speak to me for a month after a round of Fruvous shows in November 1998 (Rochester/Buffalo/Buffalo) and then has the nerve to say that I'm childish! He picked up the "no talking" from my lovely (not really my grandfather but I have the last name) Grandfather. -- eventually I'm changing my last name to get rid of it. I can't stand it for more than one reason.
from cdenise :
nice page!!!! When did you change it?! I think I missed the transition! :o
from goovie :
how did i miss that you wrote about david playing at winterfolk? he mentioned that at the last show i saw. i hope that works out. mm..david. i'm missing the east coast something fierce right now.
from horvendile :
eight tracks are the work of the Devil! (OK they are really the work of Lear, the inventor of the Lear Jet and the car radio and a really cool guy). I had one back in the day. The tapes never last, you can't go to where you want on the tape. The tape speed can be affected by the slighted imperfection.
from cdenise :
Did you do an entry on Faerie Tales because I think I missed it? Did you ever read some of the variations of them (and not the PC ones)? Cinderella has been cleaned up for children over time. It had original undertones of incest. We studied some of the "original" Faerie Tales & variations in my Children's Lit class for Elementary Education. After reading the original stories, I don't think I would ever read these stories to my kids if I ever had any. One of my favorite ones was 'The Almond Tree.' I can't believe that someone would read that to their children!
from goovie :
no, i agree with you. and so do a lot of people, i think -- which is why there have been so many feminist/girl power/whatever reworkings of the cinderella story over the years.
from aradia13 :
For the record - I'm not really organizing a boycott or anything, just contemplating the options. :)
from mischler :
Leanne, by the same token, Sun, Microsoft, Cisco, and many other comanies that make up the backbone of the internet are in on this Great Firewall of China. If you want to be serious in your boycott, you pretty much have to get off the net.
from goovie :
here's one: "teach me guitar, and i'll give you a sandwich." courtesy of mike clem.
from oggydoggy :
You forgot Nov. 20th at Capilano College in Vancouver. And David Francey's 3 days later! Woohoo....who's a happy girl?
from goovie :
dude, what's stephen fearing doing in bloody south bend, in? is he playing at notre dame? maybe i can get my little brother to check him out.
from oggydoggy :
I'm kinda partial to "People who are too stupid to live", but "Where the F*** is your brain" is good too. Gee, I'm not much help, am I?
from cairli :
Just wanted to say "hiya" to a fellow Great Big Sea fan! :)
from mischler :
Leanne... you should go after that store that sold the CD early... here's some inspiration http://www.democratandchronicle.com/news/0529story3_news.shtml
from oggydoggy :
Ooh, ooh, ooh!! Let's make a list!! I'll help *g*
from wackypenguin :
I am so jealous of you and your sexy musicians. You are SO lucky!!! Do you have to have 'em *all*? I mean, can't you leave at least *one* for me??? ;o)
from goovie :
one of my roommates back at geek arts camp got me hooked on robert fulghum. i've always wondered what key my head was in, too.
from wanjack :
choose andy. you won't regret it. or, well... probably not. :) m
from oggydoggy :
*hugs and kisses* in a nice, friendly, platonic sort of way....*g*
from oggydoggy :
See? I'm leaving you a note, and it's not telling you off or disagreeing or anything!;-D Next weekend! It's *next weekend!! Can you believe it???
from goovie :
oh dear god. davy jones still does the "all in the family" impersonations? the pain, the pain, the pain. altho you gotta love the "oliver!" medley. and at least he didn't show you his breasts. but i am *crazy* jealous that you got to see "porpoise song," "listen to the band," "randy scouse git," and "the girl that i knew somewhere" live. i've never seen micky (or mike, for that matter)...i've seen peter once, and davy a few times. now i wanna see them again. :)
from inthemiddle :
"Pagan... eventually came to be applied to anyone outside the fold of the Church." Um, um, um... er... I'm Jewish. Does that make me a Pagan? (the answer is no, by the way) just... tiny little detail. yah. Stuff. :)
from oggydoggy :
Dang! When did you put a note thingy on your diary?? Theri beat me AGAIN! *g* Anyway - just wanted to say: WOOHOO!!!!! Stephen Fearing in your store! You go, girl!
from wormyfru-gal :
ooooh...you got a note-board thingy! Or has it been here all along and I was just too idiotic to find it... ;o)
from goovie :
yay simon!! i used to love that, too...for some reason i think they used to show it on romper room or pinwheel or something. i didn't know it was tv ontario, tho. um. that's all i have to say. oh, and i like the new look. ok. now that's really all i have to say. bye. :)
from akarue :
MOXY RULES... AND I AM PAGAN TOO WRITE ME OR IM ME ...WE HAVE TO CHAT..
from athena98122 :
because i keep forgetting to frum you . . .do you think you could move your rings to the bottom of the page? it would help the entry itself load faster for those of us reading in a hurry. thanks!
from naneyn :
Oh, look! I'm leaving the first note! Wheee!!
