from minstrelite :
Actually, no longer on the blog, but there are a number of tunes uploaded onto my web site. (I just saw my last note.)
from minstrelite :
Hey, I couldn't get into your diary, but not a big. I finally was able to fund some studio time & I linked to one of my tunes on my blog. Rounded up guitar, bass & drums, and I play keyboard & synth. Check it out.
from veronica-- :
hope everything is well
from a-pineapple :
whoa, that's an interesting little ditty about pot that you put in my notes. I'm always kinda surprised at the new stuff I hear everyday . . . and about the high life house, that's so cool you even KNOW about the old one, let alone have been there (and know peeps). I was a youngin when they moved, so I was only there twice. =(
from bettinas :
National Association of Arts Presenters or Chamber Music America--I haven't figured out what's in my budget yet. Maybe both?
from bettinas :
You're probably right. Except I'd totally shame you into coming over to my house all the time, we'd stay up way too late, and I'd drag you to every theater/music event in the city. Although come to think of it, this might be true if I lived in New York too! I'm coming out there in January--want to do something silly?
from ohio21boy :
thanks... even though I've been missing, I've still been reading my favs (you!)... I bet if I lived in in New York (or you in Chicago) we'd be really good friends... I'm just saying.
from elysium1982 :
matthew, that last entry was beautiful.
from f-i-n :
hugs and kisses
from elysium1982 :
ill be strolling around union square later myself...if i see you, ill give you a nod. charlie and the chocolate factory was excellente.
from kayzotica :
FLORIDA....Tampa is the greatest city ever!!! Best move i have ever made. Perfect combination of city on country life plus awsome beaches & concerts. What more could you ask for?
from peteypuke :
DUH ... i think Chicago fits all your criteria and is the most obvious choice! plus, no garbage on the street!
from trigger-cut :
however, i had just about the whole damn album stuck in my head today. i'm taking that as a good sign.
from trigger-cut :
i'm still undecided about the new album. i like it, but i don't love it yet
from kayzotica :
ummm... when are the pictures of you new tattoo going to be availible for public viewing??? soon maybe???
from inthesun101 :
I saw Batman Begins the day it came out and I thought it was wicked good. One of the bad guys in it freaked me the fuck out though.. I'm a wuss. Just thought I'd share my review. Hope your foot is doing better dear :)
from ohio21boy :
oasis was in town monday, and I had a chance to go, but had to work. I totally should've skipped work. ugh.
from kayzotica :
Sorry i don't find your entrie very heartbreaking, more of an inspiring entry. Helped me realize whats really important im my own relationship. Thanx
from kayzotica :
I am so happy to see your pictures are back on your diary page. Made my day.
from inthesun101 :
You're fabulous! I just read your note and at first I was worried that that was what I was doing, but I'm actually very extremly happy with him. It's a good feeling. One I don't think I've ever had before :) Oh, and btw, how did your DJing go? <3
from veronica-- :
"It hurts when two people who care so much manage to hurt so much as well." It does, it does! I fucking hate it.
from ohio21boy :
that is shocking news, but I'm proud of you for having a good attitude about it. Things always (usually) work out the way the are supposed to...
from peteypuke :
(((HUG)))
from a-pineapple :
hey, dude, I reinstalled shit and lost the stored password for your blog, and I also lost the email you sent with the info in it! can you send it again please or post it on my site or something? [email protected]
from peteypuke :
go here: http://thegamechair.com/?p=50 and check out the quicktime movies of elektroplankton in action!
from peteypuke :
i have such a hard on for nintendo's new console! thanks for the links! now if only i could find a way to sleep knowing all these ass-kicking games are on the way >:( i say next year we scam our way into E3 ... sound like a plan?
from ohio21boy :
I read a good review of the weezer in rolling stone, but then listened to it on itunes, and I have to agree with you. Maybe it's a grower? Loving the new Spoon, still can't get enough of the Kaiser Cheifs...
from a-pineapple :
i was trying to tell my friend new weezer sucks, but he said they sound just the same! wtf! glad to know i'm not the only one!
from ohio21boy :
hi. i think we just might be the same person when it comes to important relationships. i love to overanalyze, and by "love," i mean "i can't help but do it all the time."
from justcircles :
so so so so so long have you been loving her it makes me feel good about it all. hope the surgery is nothing major and that all is well. also hoping you move to Savannah. we'll take you shrimping.
from afrosrock :
keys, please?
from elysium1982 :
i kept trying to remind myself to email you for a password...now i cant get to your email cause its locked already. meh. email it to [email protected]. please?
from kayzotica :
PASSWORD??? Very sneaky...I like it.
from chlemmy :
Whats up with everyone locking their diaries??? Give me the password, please.
from justcircles :
you're so lame. like I'm sending you an email... as if. just give me a password (again) and we'll pretend you're not so lame
from hucksterfinn :
yummy new tunes, man.
from peteypuke :
the bloc party album rocks
from justcircles :
duct tape and ceiling wax. sealing wax ceiling, sealing, see-ling whacks I love it.
from peteypuke :
i thought i had already said this - if so please just enjoy the deja vu. but about the tag on the subway car ... why are you so sure it wasn't me?
from hucksterfinn :
let your shoulder fall is one of my all-time favorite songs. still hard to believe we'll never hear his voice again.
from ohio21boy :
good luck with the bag... I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
from minstrelite :
Thanks for listening & commenting. Also, that's interesting about your dad. Hopefully later when I have actual musicians and back-up singers I can make more definitive recordings, but right now I'm strapped for cash. There ought to be drums, guitar, bass and synth as well as acoustic piano, and I wrote harmony vocal parts that I merely left out for lack of human resources.
from minstrelite :
Afterthought: you're a musician, aren't you? I wonder what you might think of the tunes I wrote. They're at http://burdenproject.com/burden_music.html - I'd listen to Nos. 6, 12, 19 & 20 first, because they're sung by actual good female vocalists. My own voice kinda sucks.
from minstrelite :
I was delighted to see your note when I turned on my computer this morning. It's good to know that someone identifies with this kind of experience. My history with psych drugs was basically 8 years on klonopin followed by 3 years on neurontin followed by one more year on klonopin, with the whole 12 years on trilafon. I noticed quickly after starting the klonopin that I was no longer able to get an erection. I couldn't get it up for eight years. Good thing I wasn't in a relationship in those days--she'd have had a lot more to complain about than memory loss!!! Anyway, further information, should you wish to pursue this subject for any reason, can be found at http://www.breggin.com/yourdrug.html, or, more pointedly of course, at http://homeboy5.diaryland.com. Thanks again for reading!
from kayzotica :
Good luck with the girl!!! Maybe things will work out right this time.
from peteypuke :
*cheers*
from ohio21boy :
good luck with the girl. I have a feeling you'll get it right this time...
from veronica-- :
I sent one of thoes most proofread/reread emails ever, today too. Lol it took me 90 minutes to write a couple freaking paragraphs. I'm sure it dosen't make a difference, but it feels like everything rides on every word, its stupid. Anyway, hope everything works out for ya :)
from bettinas :
Isn't Buffy just the best???? We watched all of Wonderfalls this weekend, and you're right to take it slow. The show is brilliant, and the network folks who screwed it are complete and total jackasses who deserve to die for punishing such great art. Yes, I said great art.
from hucksterfinn :
already going to see welsh hip-hop sensation goldie looking chain at mercury lounge that night. so many great shows coming up. isn't it a great time to be alive in new york city?
from februarykiss :
just wanted to let you know i'm still thinking nice things about you, and i miss the crap out of you!!! say hi sometime, k?
from ohio21boy :
I've been all about that song lately. It's in my head at all times.
from peteypuke :
Pretty much everyone I know falls into one of those two categories you mentioned. Either "really, really liking someone" or "recovering from the last one". Except , of course, those that are currently in relationships. But they join us single people sooner or later. Bastards.
from minstrelite :
lol
from kayzotica :
maybe if all the boys and all the girls would play nice with each other good people like you and i wouldnt have to deal with all this bullshit? just a thought.
from minstrelite :
Oh, and by the way, I no longer think rock music is evil. I changed.
from a-pineapple :
heeeeeeeeeeeey, if you ever come back out to colorado, you know, we should totally get coffee or something. that would be coooooool, I think anyway. and no one in boulder smokes schwag, at least like they do in the springs . . . that was pointless to say. i'm pretty bored.
from hucksterfinn :
how did i ever think i could stump YOU? there's another one on hot side hot D. alcazar's "this is the world with live in", though the vocal isn't really a sample, simply lifted and rerecorded. can you name those tunes?
from hucksterfinn :
that's crazy! i only sent them yesterday late afternoon! enjoy!
from ohio21boy :
guess what? It just so happens that I was (and still am) randomly listening to 'Room on Fire' as I was reading your entry. crazy!
from minstrelite :
Nice pictures there.
from afrosrock :
hey, thankies! much love. xx.
from bettinas :
MWUHAHAHAHAHA! I am evil incarnate, tempting you with savory jerky tales!
from inthesun101 :
That's how I was with my ex, who I seem to write about a great deal. I just waited, and waited - hoping things would get better and he'd realize how good we were together. But he just kept using me and hurting me.. And it's because of him I have my horrible trust issues.
from inthesun101 :
Yah I always get "the romantic" too.. But I get too scared to get involved. I'm just not brave enough, I always turn tail and run before anything can even start :-\ I just think it about it and wish for it constantly. Pretty pathetic when you think about it.
from ohio21boy :
hey, I've been voting for you all week.
from inthesun101 :
I got a 6 too! Also very true. Actually kinda scary how true.
from hucksterfinn :
just so you know, for my birthday, i gots a neighborhoodies t-shirt, that in gothic cholo script, says "chut up."
from peteypuke :
for all it's worth your entry made me take a breathe, sigh heavily, and contemplate the absolute crudiness of the whole universe sometimes.
from minstrelite :
Yeah, it's a cool place. Slower pace than where I was before, and friendlier people.
from hucksterfinn :
dude! now you want a track list?! ok, so 2/5 you already own, 1/5 maybe you don't own but you'll be into, 1/5 you'll be into in spite of yourself and the last 1/5, well, it's kinda bonus featuring grooves culled from my last six months in and out of london club culture. i'll send you one, gratis, silly. just email me. besides once it is in the ipod, all bets are off, right?
from afrosrock :
hey. havent noted you in a while. loving the pics.. and the fight monsters top, and the little wall man... pretty. xx. lola <3.
from peteypuke :
AMEN! i hear ya on that one.
from a-pineapple :
yeah, I think it was at least a year ago.
from girls-suck :
i've forgotten what i was going to say. I think it had to do with taffy. rich yummy taffy.
from a-pineapple :
Remember when you had that layout of the white couch and all the electrical cords coming out of the wall?
from daringtobe :
I always read your diary. and I always will as long as you are here. I like that you live in New York and have such amazingly more interesting life than I have. Your taste in music I can really identify with. And now that you've linked pictures to your diary I can actually see what the people look like around you. That one of you with a girl from a long time ago, you look like you are 16 or something. Such innocence.
from smltwn73 :
hey matthew, i'm still reading and interested in what you have to say. just cuz i don't write too much doesn't mean i've abandoned my dland pals. btw, i so hope you're right about the smiths/ coachella thing. i could die happy after that.
from inthesun101 :
Just wanted to say hello :)
from ohio21boy :
hey, good luck with the not drinking. it might be hard, but i think you can do it.
from justcircles :
fuckin notdork, okay?
from peteypuke :
Speaking of Paper Mario 2, is it just me or are Madame Flurrie's enormous, nipple-less breasts just a tad bit disturbing? And for a first party Nintendo release, no less!
from peteypuke :
i guess i should have made it more clear. Halo makes me sick the way most first person shooters do (except the almighty Metroid Prime). I get queasy and my brain starts to hurt. what i meant about Halo 2 is that everyone I know will be glued to the damn XBOX for the next two weeks. it steals my spotlight. it turns all men into drooling, smack-talking, capture the flag-obsessed apes. GOD DAMN YOU BUNGIE!!!!
from peteypuke :
thanks to Halo 2 i will have to do without the services of several friends for the next few weeks. god i hate that evil time-sucking friendship-stealing game!
from justcircles :
getchoo sum
from simplechaos :
ah, young love. Congrats!
from justcircles :
point of funny: I said "dork" in my first note
from justcircles :
I like that your brother left your first note... and I LEFT YOUR SECOND ONE. I'm not(dork) a girl who misses much. doo doo doo doo da doo. oh yeah.
from ohio21boy :
hey, yeah. I finally got on myspace a week or two ago...add me!
from ohio21boy :
crest white stripes...so punny...
from ohio21boy :
oh man, sorry to hear about the ankle...get well soon.
from hartattack :
I really like that luckiest guy on the lower east side one. Also, that not for all the tea in china one. Yeah, that's the one.
from afrosrock :
hey, thanks. whats you email?
from afrosrock :
hiya. im on your buddy list, but we hardly ever chat. do you have msn? xx.
from a-pineapple :
ooops, I soooo didn't realize you said that about the weblog style. I totally sent you sites of designs that don't really do weblog style. sorry about that. I have a hard time finding those, but xanga has some. sorry I wasn't being a good reader. . . ::sheepish look::
from a-pineapple :
I am sooooo not cool enough to have made that template by myself. But I'll hook you up with some sites that have cool templates. Sometimes it's just a wash, and you can look for hours and find nothing. So, I'm warning you now. Anyway, I'll email you a little later. word =)
from simplechaos :
Yeah Hawksley Workman quote! Tough luck about the NYC humidity. It's hot but dry in CA
from februarykiss :
matthew, may i please come visit you in new york sometime before i leave for school? i want to smoke cigarettes with you and hug you and tell you you're wonderful and that everything is turning out just fine. cause... you make me smile and stuff.
from justcircles :
I did as I said I would on Saturday night and the Ninja called to remind me of the occasion so please know how many ways you were remembered in so many places removed from NYC. People heart you. So do I.
from inthesun101 :
Happy almost your birthday in case I can't post one tomorrow Matthew! :)
from ohio21boy :
ok, then I'd probably be the second best shopping buddy. I'm just saying...
from hucksterfinn :
i'm the best shopping buddy in the whole world. just so you know.
from februarykiss :
hey pretty, it's been for-ever. i feel like giving you a call, so maybe i might. eh...i'll surprise you as when. cheer up though! i don't want to converse with a mopey matthew! xoxo
from a-pineapple :
I sure wish you would have replied to my email! Do you hate me now because of the Modest Mouse comment? I take it back! Really! You know, I love Modest Mouse too . . . . ::bats eyes::
from that :
yes canada is nice. i enjoy it anyways. but i know no different.
from inthesun101 :
Yay for Matthew! I want to see this Canadian you speak of. I'm half Canadian and my mom is still a Canadian citizen. But yes, I'm glad to hear the words of happiness :)
from justcircles :
it's probably filling that hole that the alcohol used to fill as a whole
from justcircles :
goddam buddy... I miss your curly-headed nerd-ass. notdork, bitch, notdork.
from minstrelite :
I'm trying to remember if I ever replied to your note, which I don't remember ever reading or replying to, because I have organic brain damage. However, if I did reply, I probably would have said that I don't consider the Grateful Dead to be rock music (which I don't) as they are so unique that they are a genre in themselves (as I said on my profile.) Have you ever been to a Dead show? It may be too late now, but if you've been to a Dead show, I'm sure you'd agree. Anyway, I'm writing to let readers know that I've been updating lately and that today's entry "Christian Artists" is particularly interesting, if you've been following what's happening with my musical. Pax.
from a-pineapple :
I hope your health improves . . . I'm sorry to hear about that, but staying positive is the way to go. =)
from a-pineapple :
Your brother lives in Colorado Springs? Where at?
from a-pineapple :
I meant that it would be weird to hear them all the time on the radio and stuff. I think you're right about selling out; you have to change because you want to get famous. I don't think they're doing that either.
from a-pineapple :
That's funny about how I was a fruit but I'm still minty fresh! You're my favorite! ;)
from a-pineapple :
Hey, this is me a-tasty-mint. Because a friend of mine who I didn't want reading my blog was reading it, I'm moving addresses. I'm at http://a-pineapple.diaryland.com now. Weeeeeee!
from inthesun101 :
the big 3-0
from inthesun101 :
My birthday is in July too! :) What's your day?
from inthesun101 :
Matthew you are one in a million - this whole e-mail postings are great :) Highly amusing. What's new though in your life? Oh, and hopefully we both get a visit from our friend soon, it's out of control rediculous how long it's been..
from justcircles :
I think I'm going to puke... Hey, do you think you could somehow trap this guy? Seriously...
from justcircles :
you bastard... you took my idea... but why is it always the Xians who are the crazy ones? Couldn't you turn mr. seagull into a Mormon or something? they're really effed up...
from februarykiss :
your vacation should be to harrisburg on june 4th for my graduation, because let's face it...high school grad parties are where it's at.
from a-tasty-mint :
what's with the shoutbox? mine is down too.
from februarykiss :
i was only there for a short time, and you must have blinked cause you missed me. i promise we'll make it a day trip sometime and meet up with you and maybe laura too if things are still on with you two. and we have to come to your first show, of course :o)
from inthesun101 :
I seriously laughed out loud when I read your ground beef comment. I'm still chuckling to myself. Oh man, you're awesome. Thankyou again darling - Congrats on the full band and goodluck with your girl ;)
from inthesun101 :
You know what Matthew? You're outstanding. Thank you for the words of wisdom and the offer of an ear to listen. I appreciate it very much.
from justcircles :
wow... I haven't signed in quite a while, have I? You're right about girls in the dirty south, though: we're solid. You're also probably right in your theories, because you're the only one who took me as being "cryptic" and not just my typical, dramatic self. I am not surprised either. You're the boy-version of me :)
from inthesun101 :
At work we have a tape playing all day long in electronics. We get a new one about every 2 months. We happened to get a new one today and there was a Modest Mouse video and it made me think of you. I just thought you'd like to know :)
from smltwn73 :
you are correct, sir.
from smltwn73 :
i don't know if i agree with you about modest mouse kicking the strokes collective asses, i do have to say that i love modest mouse. the new album is fanfuckingtastic. p.s. - longwave are awesome. whaddya think of the stills? how 'bout the pale? holla back.
from ohio21boy :
I'm not cheating...she's just a friend. I swear...
from invisibledon :
thanks
from bettinas :
Thanks for the rec. Of course I have read Zinn. I used to be a punk rocker, and because of that I'm overly exposed to the Chomsky-Zinn oeuvre. Rise up, fellow man.
from monkeymitten :
The real problem is that he's actually been my boyfriend for four years. I just don't think New York is habitable if you're not getting trashed.
from inthesun101 :
[email protected]
from inthesun101 :
When you say you can never read the end, what exactly is the end? How far can you go? This is a sad dilema I have on my hands Matthew :(
from veronica-- :
Thank you, I am truely flattered!
from daringtobe :
my brother has just started listening to the shins....now that you've recommended them I must take a listen. thanks!
from justcircles :
Cancer: (June 22July 22) You have a right to be happy, but that might not outweigh the feelings of the dozens who so enjoy your misery.
from a-tasty-mint :
Glad you unlocked your diary. I like your layout. =)
from justcircles :
dude, use $300 of that and come see me. my spring break is march 12-21.dork.not.dork.
from justcircles :
some one found me by searching "24 year old virgin"
from mothlight-63 :
I feel like i've known you for ever. Actually i kind have...guess who? about time, no? don't worry, you weren't too slanderous. Every thing that keeps me together is falling apart...
from justcircles :
thanks, you make me feel good. I'm so glad to have you. I just got done reading all the notes I've written you - and the ones you've written me - and plotted our evolution in cyberspace. you're a man I would love cooking for.
from justcircles :
you said that to me one time, too, and so maybe there's a brand of us girls who are *always* easy to hold...OMG, not trouble! not you! I'll call you soon, when I have a free night, or when I'm drunk
from justcircles :
yes, Pony Boy, Ken & Barbie have called it quits, 'cause nothing golden can last.
from justcircles :
why ugh? because you don't tell... and I hate wondering what could be *so* extreme this weekend. you cryptic, little, bastard-punk, wimpster-ass, darling you. and what in hell is "thelpspirit"? effing A. stellastarr* and elifant are playing near by to me very soon and I'm all "yay" and shit. come do my homework for me, okay?
from justcircles :
ugh. Notdork.
from justcircles :
darling, if you yourself haven't ensured that you'll never go on a date again then that flimsy article won't do a thing... nothing is more powerful than self-sabotage... I love hotdogs, though, so love *isn't* enough... (I live in "Bloom"ington... so I'm "Blooming" Michaela; glad you like it)... try not to tie that noose too tight, okay?
from justcircles :
*so* true about the wimpster... you're sort of that way (but like you say, not entirely)... I'm just reminded of the "I took you out because I couldn't take you out" and it seems to fit that description very well... hehe ;)
from justcircles :
yeah
from fulminous :
The poster was hidden away in the back of the Suncoast, on the bottom floor of the Manhattan Mall. A little obscure, sure, but that's what I'm here for. :)
from daringtobe :
I like your beard...it looks good even through a fuzzy picture....
from justcircles :
I love you, Matthew
from tiemylaces :
Hello mr. matthew. Just lemme know if you don't want me to read your diary. You can have full access to my shitty mess of an attempt to keep people informed with my crappy projects. Anyways, I like the beard. You should keep it for a while. I don't think I've known anyone with a full beard since I was 19. Later kiddo. R
from justcircles :
...I blame it on my fingers' confusion with words like "besides", ya punk... I don't have to spell good: I'm brilliant :p... by the way, you are too (brilliant, that is), and your notion about ideas knocking around in the atmosphere is called "extended mind hypothesis" and you should check it out (I wrote a paper on it)... I should call you...
from smltwn73 :
you look like a total stud w/ the beard. that coupled with the hat and t-shirt is very...sandanista / fashionista. love it.
from killiansred :
you got cute since the last photo. cute in a cuban army guy sorta way. except i don't think cuban army officers wear nada surf t-shirts. it's just the cap and beard combo
from justcircles :
my title today was a NMH lyric too... and I was trying to find tour information last night... I bow in your awesome presence *
from justcircles :
the ninja will arrive sometime on or after next Tuesday, and you can check your email: there is not one question mark in the whole thing! I'm glad you got my card. I'm praying for your father. Please, move to Bloomington. All the girls here are suffering for hott boys like yourself, you know (I mean, not me personally, but this chick I know...)
from justcircles :
its funny, how you know these things first, because I just got a The Mouse email newsletter today with (what now, because of you) is yesterday's news. How do you do it? You're my guru.
from fulminous :
Oh hecks yeah, I love my Park Slope too! :) I, personally, don't think it's too cutesy at all -- I was just trying to be...you know. Fair, or something. To those poor misguided souls who DON'T like the slope for some silly reason. (grin)
from ohio21boy :
the new one doesn't really sound like them, it kind of seems like they are trying to be the strokes, but I'm not sure....the new death cab is on my list. will get it this week. this is why i am poor...
from killiansred :
i'm surprised i haven't mentioned this yet, i love the layout. i sleep in a t-shirt that has that album cover on the front.
from smltwn73 :
hey, the brand name is "creative". it's a "creative nomad jukebox zen extra". try saying that 10 times fast. it's 300 bucks and has 30 gb of memory. whereas the the 300 dollar ipod only had 10 gb. ipods are for suckers. it's super easy to use, the software's easy to install and it comes with a protective case. i'm getting a semi just thinking about it. treat yourself matthew. you're worth it. have a merry merry and a wonderful, healthy new year.
from justcircles :
hello dear, wrap your mind in Kevin Shields' music and feel from him a merry Christmas. your brother is indeed one of my heros, and you, Matthew, are one of my sources. :) I like how you write (needless to say) and... I miss you.
from ohio21boy :
hey I've decided I want a digital jukebox, too...Can you put songs from CDs on them, or is it just for music you download? I am such an idiot about these things....
from justcircles :
phone calls from the Matthew are always just right
from justcircles :
you know I wasn't busting your balls right? I was just feeling conversational :)
from justcircles :
first of all: I'm silly and didn't realize until midway that you hadn't written that entry and was really curious about your new-found interest in Nomar and baseball; secondly: this is hilarious and had me going in agreement for a while; finally: it's left me feeling even sadder... so this is where it's left us? marriage is a wasteland, a culprit, and a hindrance so we do without? seems like a low-road, don't you think? I have multiple reasons to resent marriages, y'know, including my own conception, but I still sort of feel like I *can be* different. Am I a fool, Matthew?
from kiki-blue :
I'm glad to have had such an effect on you ;)
from ohio21boy :
welcome back
from justcircles :
well you cocked your head to shoot me down and I don't give a damn about your or this town no more (have a safe trip, Matthew, and let yourself *go*, let the "home" take care of you)
from pretendtious :
i know there are times your dreams turn to dust. and wonder as you cry why it has to hurt so much. well give me all your sadness. and someday you will know the reason why. and with a child-like heart, you can put your faith in me. take my hand and walk where i lead. keep your eyes on me alone. dont you say "why were the old days better?" just because you're scared of the unknown. please take my hand and walk. a little contemporary christian for ya. riiiight...
from bettinas :
Okay, so I'm not stalking you (I swear), but you lived in Albuquerque? I grew up there--it's possible we may know each other. In that freaky, Albuquerque kind of way.
from bettinas :
Thanks--I don't think I know your brother, but I was one of the ones who started the High Life House, and I might know him from there. He's friends with my buddy Davey, I think.
from bettinas :
I'm a stranger, but I always hate it when people read pages and pages of my diary and don't let me know. So here I am. I hope you feel better.
from afrosrock :
hey, thanks. i love all stars. so your a girl or a boy?
from afrosrock :
hi, i love your diary. the layout is really cool. note me back if you want. afrosrock x
from ohio21boy :
the minute I read about Elliot Smith, I immediately thought of you. It's just so awful.
from pullonmyhair :
It's beyond terrible, isn't it? I hope you're doing good, Matthew.
from idiot-milk :
I think it would entirely depend on your definition of "nice." I mean, I think the thought of stabbing idiots in the head with rusty butter knives sounds very nice indeed. Though I'm willing to concede that, as a rule, that wouldn't count as "nice" in most people's books. But it works for me.
from justcircles :
I'm postally promiscuous as of today. Full membership. SeanandJacob are the awesome.
from smltwn73 :
hey, keep it up w/ the lyrics. they're good.
from emofaerie :
oh dear. you and justcircles with the locking up.
from justcircles :
sometimes when I read this I can hear your voice perfectly
from justcircles :
I'll be around... you'll get a call
from ohio21boy :
I'm with you on the broke front. I try to convince myself that buying used CDs will make me spend less, but then I end up getting double the amount, so it all evens out and I am more poor...
from smltwn73 :
secretly photographing, huh? and skinnier than usual? who is taking care of my imaginary boyfriend? i'd have him on an all sausage diet......so grody.
from ohio21boy :
hey yeah. I was going to e-mail you or leave you a friendster message to tell you about my weekend, since you were the one who told me about the exhibit. but I just decided to write a vague entry about itnstead. crazy times.
from fulminous :
You. Are. So. My. Hero. Not only did you pass along this wonderful news, you did it in time for lunch. I just inhaled a Chipotle chicken burrito with black beans and corn salsa and cheese and sour cream and guacamole!! Hooraaahhh! AND there's a picture of the Chipotle on Evans in Denver, right inside the door!

About time, I've been refreshing my buddy list for the past few days, non-stop waiting for an update. That was a joke.....no really, it was. I swear!! About that business idea, start a record label and gimme a job, ok? Get well soon, chief. PS you guestbook is being a total bitch.
from ohio21boy :
hey. just saying 'hey' and have a good weekend.
from veronica-- :
Thanks
from ohio21boy :
HEY. happy (belated) birthday! 25. fuck that's old...
from justcircles :
did you know that you can have inumerable readers? all you have to do is invent ten username/password combinations and give them out to a bunch of people... like, I could even use whatever combination some other lucky reader is using... for some reason I'm really curious about the last three weeks of your life simply becuase I'm not *permitted* to know... I mean, whatever dude, right?
from justcircles :
hey!
from pullonmyhair :
haha man! I have sleep walking peeing stories. One time, I went into my sisters bedroom, pulled her paper bin out and peeded in it, my sister and my dad come running up the stairs shouting and woke me up. Another time I walked into my mum and dads bedroom, and took a whizz in the washing basket. My parents were alseep, but they woke up shouting. Just thought i'd share my pissing stories with you. Take care.
from justcircles :
someone googled "I'm so fucking wierd" and found my page.... happy Fourth
from fulograc :
it makes me smile to think that you appreciate keith green. thanks. i hope you are having a good day, matthew.
from justcircles :
my page was found both by the Google search for "up skirt blowing" and "thighs don't touch"... this is outta control... so, am I going to see you tomorrow?
from fulograc :
do you think he is amazing? or do you think the mention of him is amazing? i'm curious.
from justcircles :
My kid, James, just looked over at me and said, "hey, what's that word for when you're, like, open for attack?" I replied, "vulnerable?"... and that was the word he was looking for. He didn't tell me why. I'm a fool, Matthew.
from fulograc :
thanks, matthew. oooh, you locked your diary... how mysterious. :)
from chlemmy :
Nooo...don't lock me out.
from fulograc :
things sound fabulous, my dear, and i'm so glad to read it. just wanted to say hi, have a fabulous day, and... yeah, i guess that's all. later.
from smltwn73 :
glad to read things are going so well. be good.
from justcircles :
you should be more open mind and begin sniffing your discs when you open them: it's likely it once smelled like cake, but now the scent has faded, and you missed it
from monkeymitten :
Thanks. Your note was really nice.
from fulograc :
why thank you, kind sir :) it was happy
from ohio21boy :
hey thanks for clearing up the zoloft confusion for me...
from smltwn73 :
thank you! for me and no one else. capiche?
from killiansred :
i take it back, you're panicking. i take it back
from veronica-- :
I guess the things that dont work out and the crutches in life we use to fill empty emotional holes in ourselves, but then they fall through and we are empty even more until we fix the holes with something real. That's all, take care!
from ohio21boy :
Ok I just got my Nada ticket. The Long Winters will be there, too. Doors open at 8, so I think I'll catch most of the show. Can I just tell you how jealous I am about you going to Field Days. Oh man. It's not fair.
from justcircles :
speaking of your little brother... where the hell is he? I. Miss. Him.
from ohio21boy :
Ok I am totally buying Adrian Crowley this weekend. You've sold me. Hope you are feeling better...
from justcircles :

from justcircles :

from justcircles :
you tried not to go into? semantics? I remember that I used that word... but I figured - um... that we agreed (?)... ::slightly confused:: we should go the Met and look at heiroglyphics and sculptures (then you can expain your refusal to partcipate in a discussion on semantics, and why you hate beets)
from ohio21boy :
I'll admit it, too: I like Third Eye Blind. Will get the new CD today or tomorrow. Is it any good?
from killiansred :
im tellin ya, it would be rad. im not sure how we would actually go about it, but we'll figure something out
from killiansred :
i think that i am going to jump on a plane and go over to your house so we can sit in our pyjamas together, eat pizza and watch bad movies. i want to give you a hug so badly :0) i wish i could stop and be sad, but there's no time, so busy. but yeah, emo and i split on monday night, so im now in the market for a new inter-net boyfriend, are you interested ?? :0)
from justcircles :
there's a neon sign over my head in the picture of me leaning from the window and I realized eventually that it was the exact same neon sign of the very club we froze our asses walking to seven years ago to hear some jazz
from justcircles :
oh, hi, thanks, it's in the afternoon on Saturday, now, and I just read that entry, so, cool, talk to you later
from justcircles :
Sorry, there are no search results for blanklandia. Matthew: do we live in a beautiful world? It only takes the little things to cheer me up. Tonight I shall color my hairs. Would you be interested in giving me a quick call to tell me the funniest thing you saw on the subway ride home (or to work)? I'm fucking ill with this Thursday. I need some rocknroll.
from killiansred :
damn boy, how you make me smile
from justcircles :
I know. That's why I didn't write any of the lyrics for that one. It's the whole thing. I'm sorry you hurt. I'm sorry I hurt. I'm so fucking sorry I even dredged up those songs. I wanna go back to sleep.
from justcircles :
it's sort of funny that I never lost my spot on your favorite list, and I don't mean funny weird, I mean funny haha... it makes me laugh... and I'll let you do all the talking from now on...
from ohio21boy :
hey - thanks for that number. it is totally getting me through this long ass workday afternoon...
from beagle47 :
thanks a lot, wave. it is strange how now that entry is, even though it was so, so long ago. some memories just never die or lose their impact. peace. (and i really mean that).
from justcircles :
ah, I see now... it was tricky, and in my haste made me think these were unavailable online... did you get tickets for Thursday or Friday? (oh, and sorry I had that bandana on and couldn't see the cops from the eyes in the back of my head... you give me so much shit for being a people-watcher!... is it okay if I go out now and buy all those cd's I don't have just because I have a ticket to that festival? Or does that make me not-cool? you can tell me; it won't hurt my feelings... great weekend, indeed, but I seem to remember you showing me an Avril Lavigne foto; I'm taking you off my buddy list again, too, cause you're getting too many hits...
from justcircles :
I want to see Wilco: the tickets are not on sale online. I'll mail you a check, paypall, add interest, add service charge and convenience fees, make me buy your ticket, whatever... I really think that seeing Wilco es muy imporante
from ohio21boy :
Ummm souvenier? Yeah. Sure I got you something. I'll drop it off when I hit your city during my Spring/Summer 2003 World Tour. NYC should be sometime this summer...
from justcircles :
I meant to ask you about the Gilmore Girls: I missed it on Tuesday because we had to decide between that and Buffy, and since Buffy is going off the air soon we chose the latter. But I really wanted to see what happened with Rory and Dean. I can't stand Jess. He represents everything that is wrong with young men today. Ra Ra Rory and Dean!
from ohio21boy :
Ok, I drink iced lattes. BUT never, ever from Starbucks. Just wanted to let you know...
from killiansred :
i havent heard any of his new stuff yet, but i would kill to see one of his solo shows. oh and fyi, you are cute as a button
from a-tasty-mint :
dude, i like your diary, especially your template. thanks for the note by the way. =)
from justcircles :
on Sunday you should go see Pedro the Lion
from ohio21boy :
jumping around? cart-wheels? jumping jacks and a lot of drinking? that's what I like to call "just another tuesday afternoon..."
from ohio21boy :
man, you are having a good week for notes, huh? I think you know what my answer to your question would be... I'm all about spending money and having fun, and since I just bought that cd yesterday, you know what I would do. forget about Jeebus, it should be more like "what would ohio21boy (kevin) do?"
from killiansred :
man, at the exact same moment i read your note i was listening to the man with two brains. and was looking at the seven more minutes liner notes before i went to bed last night. it is such a perfect, perfect album. it is definitely in my top three favourite albums of all time list. along with crooked rain, crooked rain and the proximity effect if you're interested. then the girl with one brain says you make no sense
from teethgrinder :
lol that sounds like my kinda fun.i like your new layout its proper wicked.
from teethgrinder :
yeh i mite unlock it one day or maybe give certain people the password. whats your real name?im seeing del tomrrow ill say hi.
from ohio21boy :
you know, I was actually looking for the yeah yeah yeahs at the record store today. i totally forgot it doesn't come out until tomorrow. i just assumed it was sold out. thanks for the reminder...
from teethgrinder :
thats cool, yeh del's my friend i was jsut amazed someone outside of hastings would consider them on of their favourite bands, i saw some wicked photos from their tour over there.america looks fun
from justcircles :
do you know anyone who wants my extra ticket? I seriously doubt I'm going to ask the dude from the record store: I was just trying to sound brave....
from teethgrinder :
you have some pretty cool taste in music. the candys you mention is that the english band the candys or is there a band called that over there too?
from ohio21boy :
I have been reading so much about Longwave. I'm going to have to get it this week. Of course I already have the new Nada Surf. duh.
from justcircles :
this is an unusual day and I'm not altogether light-hearted about this whole deal and it's totally time for beer and nonsense
from ohio21boy :
I have no guesses about the "riddle" yet, but I will be thinking about it all afternoon...
from justcircles :
and all this time I thought it was because I wouldn't put out...
from beagle47 :
thank you blank. i really appreciate your note. i was really afraid it might *tick* people off, but that was what i really thought so i write it and don't worry too much about it. peace, and thanks again!
from ohio21boy :
(I really wasn't reading that book. I just didn't know how to end that entry, and thought it would be a funny ending and make the whole story more amusing. Seriously. I haven't read those kinds of books in months...)
from justcircles :
...so you laughed? Silly Matthew! I'm going to keep on "not reading" your journal for a while, though, so I can still look like a tough guy, okay?
from veronica-- :
Is that picture at the bottom you, that links to the older entries? You're fucking hot :)
from smltwn73 :
found your diary thanks to ohio21boy. you have excellent taste in music, but, i'm sure you already know that. i just saw idlewild, the french kicks, and the natural history, two weeks ago. in a word, awesome. cheers.
from ohio21boy :
Yeah! I was hoping that shout out was for me. I mean, how many cool guys are from Ohio, really? (Wait, don't answer that.)So, yeah. I'll totally be your left hand man. Just don't hog the spotlight all the time...
from ohio21boy :
Happy 100, man! You did it! Whoo-hoo!!! (it's fun to act like things are a big deal)
from justcircles :
I don't think you're weird in the head: no weirder than I am. I just don't know why you're "afraid of sounding awkward" when I'm more uncomfotable with silence. I don't know what it is you might say, and perhaps after hearing it I would reply, "yes, that was awkward... You should have kept on not talking to me." But in just not knowing your side of the story it forces me into conjecture and I have principles against conjecture. And goddamit I always end up saying a LOT to you and getting NOTHING back and I'm doing it again right now! Thanks for the apology. Really.
from ohio21boy :
Ok, got the new white stripes and I am lovin it. Just thought you should know...
from ohio21boy :
oh man! I was at the record store today and knew I was forgetting something... the new White Stripes album!!! I guess I'll have to go back. I'll run...
from simplechaos :
Ah, well I meant in the interests page. You must be cool if you like Sondre Lerche, Trainspotting, Donnie Darko, AND David Sedaris! Indeed, people who like all those things are the epitome of cool... Anyway, read some of your entries and now I'm looking forward to more. take care!
from justcircles :

from justcircles :

from kirlianstate :
a sondre lerche fan! pretty rockin....
from ohio21boy :
If I was in the city, I would so be at the dj gig tonight...Good luck, though. I am so with you on the thoughts of war, by the way. It all really makes me sick. See you in Canada!
from simplechaos :
we have obscene numbers of favorites in common! OBSCENE, I tell you!
from pullonmyhair :
nah i downloaded it last night. I thought it sounded like mall music before i went to the store. It kinda sounds like gorillaz, whats the point in blur if damons gonna make music like that with them? PS. The whole 'you cant sign the guestbook again so soon' sucks! Damn my guestbook!
from justcircles :
what the crap? silly Matthew! I went to the page "diary's which list Justcircles as a favorite" so I could read your journal and it made sense that my name wasn't there, but I decided to read your entry from today for the 411 you mentioned in the email, and... well -- removing my name is one thing but what's with the cryptic personal-note? You couldn't take me out? ah... that's so one month ago, right? Anyway: I love the band name. Love love it. I also think it's exciting that you want to go back to school. I hope everything goes well for you. One more thing: the Low-Fi Bitching is sort of not nice because that's my ugly journal and the only pretty entry is "Big Pictures Make Me Feel Small" and it's the one I wrote as my plane took off for NC last month. Anyway, take care of yourself, Matthew.
from ohio21boy :
I will SO stand in line to see "The The Stutter" at a venue near me...
from neilyum :
"sorry to my newspaper to be boiled of the soo". that translated phrase has made my day. congrats on the girl as well. peace.
from ohio21boy :
good luck if you give up beer. that's a tough one. i'm thinking about giving up unhealthy food, since that is all I seem to eat. glad you're not giving up d-land...
from huocer :
love the layout. I almost went with that one. Rock on. Haven't read much, but i'm in a hurry and will definitely be back. Peace
from rotsh :
thanks for the note :) yea, I'm pretty obsessed with donnie darko. Practically my life...the movie actually influenced me to pursue a philosophy minor, heh. I've been meaning to see 'requiem for a dream'...maybe I'll rent it when I come home for spring break
from ohio21boy :
Hey no prob...No one should miss Sarah Silverman. Ever. You are so lucky that you go to talk to her in real life. I would've tried to go to the store with her, but not in a stalker way...
from neilyum :
Once talking to my friend Max, who lives in Manhattan, and I heard a thump just as he was saying goodbye, and I immediately asked what happened. He simply replied, "Oh, I just got hit by a taxi". I love N.Y., but Taxis are the devils work I tell you, THe DEVILS WORK!
from ohio21boy :
I am really going to miss Mr. Rogers. I kinda feel like an old person in my family just died. Is that corny?
from beagle47 :
thanks for the note and reading. the only thing i can say is it passes eventually and one day you wake-up and it's you that's happy again. but up until that point, it's just hanging-on, sometimes by the thinnest of threads, but you've got to do it because eventually, it's you that's happy again. thanks again and peace.
from ohio21boy :
You shouldn't have told me that we are neck and neck in the 100 Diaries thing. I can get really competitive. Bit since this is a friendly competition, I will set aside my "do anything and everything to win" attitude. Seriously, though, I am really enjoying your stuff, too. I drink all the time too! Except I don't live in NYC and have never hung out with Nada Surf... but I wish that was my life. So, yeah...
from justcircles :
okay you: I don't know what to say; that song you posted is lyrically one of the best I've heard. Seriously, I can't say what I want to for some reason because my vocabulary is frail, but the "concept" of the song is one that I relate to without having realized I needed a song like that for relating to until after reading that. Okay; that potentially makes NO sense whatsoever, but I'm happy to know this song exists. I've got to stop typing now.
from notreallyme :
Hi. I found your diary this morning...really fun stuff. I saw the Walkmen a few months ago when they came down to Miami- they were great. And yes, Carson is a tool.
from ohio21boy :
Thank you for pointing out that Carson Daly is such a tool. I already knew, but I think it is important to get the word out there, you know?
from beagle47 :
thanks a lot for the note and for reading...especially others' on the favorite list. there is some really great stuff out there. i'm going to drop by blankwave as well on occasion. i imagine this tide of air rolling up to the virtual beach that is your daily diary entry. i want to go swimming too! peace.
from killiansred :
hey, rocknroll. in just 3 short entries i have become a fan
from ladyeve901 :
Thank you for signing my guestbook. It's nice to hear you went to your local march for peace, there was one here in winnipeg too that a few of my friends went to. They had a lot of fun. Although, Bush's comments about the marches were.. not so good. "..people think that saddam is not a threat to the world.. i disagree..." not a direct quote, but, still.

I went to Pianos last Monday, and I'm at Patio every weekend... As far as the Mouse which is Modest, I think we used the same designer... We'll have to give that boy Lex a hi-5 if we ever meet him.
from justcircles :
oh, "one of these" just means a guy in NYC that is my age and creative, well-written, tasteful, optimistic, altruistic, observant, not all-together jaded, introspective, and with good taste in music... I enjoyed all of your entries, too, by the way... I'm a dork and read all of them...
