Hi. Just happened to stumble across your diary and I can't tell you how relevant your last entry was to me. I HATE when people tell me I "talk white" just because I choose to speak proper English over ebonics, or that I'm the "whitest black girl" they know because I have tons of friends who aren't black or listen to music other than hip-hop. It's such a pet peeve to me that in this day and age, people still feel such a need to place people in categories and god forbid if they choose to step outside it. Anyway, I enjoy your writing and I plan to keep on reading.

Hola, lady! Dunno if you remember my (now-defunct) writings, but I just thought I'd hop by, say hey, and compliment you on your extraordinary taste in music. It completely tickles me that anyone whom I kind-of-sort-of-not-really know should ever have heard of George's Blues. (Oddly compelling, no?) Also look out for Lifelines and This Will All Make Perfect Sense someday if you want some other interesting + obscure Mayer tracks. Peace!

So when you have a minute, would you mind terribly...? Thanks, and sorry to bother you!

It's like what you do after sex. You cuddle with your team, and then you get out of bed and leave. And if its a good relationship, you come back and try again. Maybe they will get you off, maybe they won't. But its been 86 years and there is nothing like your first time. I mean that. I mean that so much because the Pats first time was so much better than their second. Even though the second was good. I wouldn't trade them for anything, but I will say this: I'm moving to Chicago. Go Cubs.
|
| from
chicagojo : |
|
The breaking of the curse brings up a good point. Chicago is very much joined together in being able to bitch and moan about how much the Cubs are stinking at any given moment. Seriously, I was buying bachelorette party gifts when the very gay cashier asked if I was disappointed in the Cubs' season. Their suckitude truly brings everyone together...

Yeah... my advice? Don't let them give you to a psych major. Make them give you a real counselor. And if they try to get you to do "art therapy," remind them you're not 5.
|
| from
chicagojo : |
|
The school can't release any of their records without your approval. Also, psych help wouldn't ever be noted. They hire honest-to-goodness people to help out, not just those hoping to conduct studies on you. Call the office's main line and ask your up-front questions about confidentiality, then make yourself an appointment, hon. Gotta keep yourself healthy...

Heck, April dear, if the draft's reinstituted you and I are probably going to go, too. From what I've read, all the things that have been tentatively proposed include women as well. The attitude seems to be, "You want equality, damn it? Okay, then, here you go!" But anyone who gets drafted can most definitely claim conscientious objector status, and they'll put you to work in an office or something. True, people have this unpleasant tendency to think of conscientious objectors as cowardly, but hey, it beats dodging bullets.
|
| from
lobsterchick : |

I agree completely. Whether it's for a war we believe in or not, military personnel are on the line to fight for us in case anything goes wrong. That deserves our respect. Military enlisters purposely recruit men and women whom they perceive are looking for a "way out," and exploit that to their own advantage, because there are benefits to becoming a member of the armed forces. However, often lost in the patriotic rhetoric is the fact that for all your bravery and heroicism, you might just be rewarded with a missile to your lower half. At any rate, I hope your cousin can come to terms with his life-changing injury, and he should take every advantage of the medical and psychological services the military offers for just such cases.

I'm sorry to hear you're feeling so bad, kiddo. I realize it's pretty well useless telling you not to worry--but don't worry TOO much. Doctors aren't infallible--there are misdiagnoses. I've read that lots of doctors are somewhat reluctant to diagnose fibromyalgia, as some of the symptoms are so similar to other diseases that they're easily confused. But whatever it is, there are treatments available. And never underestimate the power of the human spirit. My parents have a friend who's a doctor who was diagnosed with cancer last year; he was told he'd be lucky if he wasn't dead by Thanksgiving. Guess what? He's still accepting new patients in his medical practice now and working every day. So I guess what I'm saying is this: you have every right to despair, but also don't forget that amazing things can happen with a bit of love and a bit of medical technology. Peace!

I'm guessing you haven't seen the episode of friends where Monica and Chandler get engaged. Rachel is talking about how she's 90% thrilled for them and only 10% jealous, and how she's proud of herself, and she's never had that high of a happy/jealous ratio before, then during the entire episode the happy creeps down and the jealous creeps up. This is why friendships break up over weddings, because brides who aren't conscious of how others might be feeling only exacerbate the sour grapes.

I am TOTALLY with you on the Bridget Jones paradox. Watching my best friend get married this weekend- on one hand, I'm like, getting married when you don't have the brain to carry around your driver's license is retarded (that's my best friend for you), BUT when you get married, you get A LOT A LOT A LOT of nice presents. And I want nice presents. So why won't somebody marry me?

Dude. Dude. I know what you're talking about, and I made a point to learn all the black girls' names at work before I even bothered with the white people. Except it took all the black people six months to stop calling me Karen or Carolyn or Adrienne. Go figure. And also, anesthesiologists, as I just found out a few months ago, are actual doctors. Like, you have to go to medical school for that. Better off owning a KFC franchise.

the father thing: been there, done that and for some odd reason, we had a long talk one day [well, i was in the psych hospital, so that like screwed him up] and now we're cool. however, all situations are different but I just wanted to say, I understand where you are coming from. Dance Dance Revolution-- I LOVE that game! In college, I wrote a South Park script about it where Cartman gets that game and challenges everyone to beat him. If you win a battle at DDR, you are proclaimed a virgin [which is the hippest thing in town] and Cartman wanted to be the biggest virgin in town. However, Vanilla Ice comes to South Park to beat Cartman at his own game. However, Cartman wins by rolling over the video game. [special appearances by Carson Daly and Tara Reid are also in the script]...but hot damn, I love me some DDR.

Try taking the standpoint that it's socioeconomic and not race that determines everything. Poor white folks in trailer parks are also collecting foodstamps and not going to college just as much as any other poor group of people. [sigh] Similar to what you described goes on in your classes, we've deemed my friend Melinda as "Ambassador to All Things African American" at her school. People ask some retarded-ass questions sometimes. "What's it like growing up black?" "Um, well, life was the same as every other daughter of a Harvard-educated doctor, growing up in Connecticut."

Did you see Narc with Ray Liotta? Cause he is fan-frickin-tastic in it. Not exactly loveable, but still amazing. Thanks for adding me to favorites!

Join friendster, and you can add me as a friend. joanna (at) bottomquark (dot) com. This will make your friends list sufficiently big, as my friends are friendster's bitches. I met my current BF there. Let's see if you can guess which one is him. Oh yeah -- Let's not ever question how many of them I've made out with, okay? :)

Yo, what IS your email address? I tried to send you something but it was sent back. Don't worry it's nothing too cheesy-- leave me a note or an email. I wanted you to read something and tell me what you think.

Awesome entry. Hey, Ben Folds in nowhere near SISSY. I think I might steal your entry and do one just like that today...hmm. Well, if it makes you feel better, I lost 20 pounds and gained back 15 or so. bah. This new year makes me afraid, very afraid.

I was born in April. How annoying. Anyway, I liked you TV ideas. How about How Fox stole Christmas? Or "When Reindeer Attack". That could be good. But I still waiting for CSI: Christmas Story Investigations. Santa has been Sleighed. hehehe. Sorry. Have a good day.

Yes, yes, it was me. I've been meaning to do it for some time now, but for some reason I was wary of adding 27 more "older" pages. Also, as you may have noticed, I am a lazy ass.

Oh! I did not know that. I live no where near Dallas, so please excuse my ignorance. I gotta question for you. How long have you been posting entries here??? Oh... by the way... J.R. Kinsley is my name. Stands for Jasper Raven. That's where that comes from! Talk to ya later!
|

wow... that was quick. Anyways, just thought that I would be polite and reply. Kidding again. I am not sure if I totally understand the whole, "Who shot JR" thing. Please... I beg you... shed some light on it for me. Catcha later!

Hmmm... very interesting to say the least. Actually, I am totally kidding. Just wanted to leave a note in total agreement with you on the whole J.D. Salinger being a genius and all. Oh... and I noticed that one of your favorite movies is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Funny thing... I played Willy Wonka in our high school's production of it. Give me a holler if ya want! Later!

Yeah, I know what you mean about the Saddam business. A friend and I were talking, and I pointed out that all of the pictures we've seen of him were from ten years ago. There's a big difference between a 55-yo man and a 65-yo man.

Well I understand. And one can't as easily change one's name as they can their layout, as diaryland has taught us time and time again. It's alright though. I like both the name and layout.

Also...BLUEnadia...why is your profile orange? That just struck me as funny. I guess cause there is no blue fruit...or you are depressed alot. (Aren't blueberries actually purple...or is it me?)

Oh no. You want to see what the fuss is about?!!? Gee...I don't know if I will much be able to come to task on that one, but I guess that I will try. Hopefully you enjoy. Also, I will read your diary too, and this usually happens when notes are left. Or something of that nature...and so on. Worst note ever.

I swear, I am so going to have to email Andrew about the Sign GB site. It HATES me. Yet again has it denied me the sweet, deliciously dark pleasure of signing your guest book. Btw, I'm totally joking. But, I'm still pissed that I couldn't leave you a GB entry, because I prefer signing the GB than leaving notes. *sigh* Why does technology hate me so? WHY? WHY? WHY? *sobs* I'm over it. :) See ya around!

That was nuts! ^_^ Unfortunately, I'm curious about Britney's new album. Mostly because, I'm a music junkie, and I feel I have to hear everything at least once, and I want to see what the hype is about. Then decide. *sigh* When did I become a pop junkie? I shall never know.
|
| from
blakdahlia : |
|
I think I shall boycott GB for a while... it does not like me. Yet again, I have received an error message when all I wanted to say was that I'm glad that you are accomplishing what you wanted for yourself. And to share that I'm accomplishing the same (one pant size down!), and it feels great. Sometimes, i like being a girl, and I feel famous for you having mentioned me in your diary. Now if only I were not so dyslexic....

Girl, I hate Sign My Guestbook. I tried to leave a entry in your GB, but it said something about a stupid error and had those numbers. Is it me? I bet it is. It hates me! Argh... but what i was going to tell you is that, if you ever change your mind about thongs, try GAP Body. They have NICE underwear that is SUPER comfortable. Just a thought... :) And I didn't know you added my other diary to your list! Aiya! Must update!

Ha! I remember that stuff! Oi. I like my buttery leather couches, thank you. And no, I'm not a avid animal activist when it comes to cows. Unless it's the rare blue chess cow with green spots, or on the endnagered species list, I have no qualms about using those kinds of animals for food and clothing. It's just when people use tiger skins and the like for decor, that's when I get rankled. And this totally rambled off into another topic... when did that happen?
|
| from
blakdahlia : |
|
Girl, you are not the only one who didn't like Revolutions. I haven't seen it, but a friend just called and told me it sucked. Oi... *sigh* Sounds like a crazy weekend. Lemme tell you. I drank all weekend, worked one day this weekend (with a hangover), got a lapdance from my best friend, and did some of the craziest shit I never thought I would do. But that's alright. I was drunk. I didn't care. Damn, it felt kinda good to not care for the night.
|

Sounds absolutely crazy. Don't you hate it when former best friends put you in the most AWKWARD situations? I have a cell number of my former best friend from elementary/middle school, and I dont' call her. She called me once, and I haven't heard from her since. We ran into each other in town, and she seems to have forgotten that she called me a "bitch" in the seventh grade. And not in the nice way that my mafia crew says it. And she wonders why I dont' call her or feel totally weird talking to her after that. Sheesh! Would you?

It's amazing what just a bit of knowledge in HTML can do for someone's diary. (As in, Your layout is looking great!). I didn't notice at first, because well, I've been a little slow lately. But that's alright. ^_^ But now I have noticed the little changes, and they look good. I'm jealous... *gives you a look green with envy* That's okay. My diary is going downhill, so oh well. Take care!

You actually joined a heterosexual diaryring? What a hoot. At any rate... Welcome to my hell with NaNoWriMo. Last year I worked my ass off and only got about 1/2way through. There were people on there who finished by Nov. 15, which totally exposes them as cheaters cheaters pumpkin eaters. Anyway, good luck. I'm doing it again this year, hopefully with better results. As far as motivational goes, it's more like... angry when you don't get right on top of it. Because you move up in your ranking the farther you get (and the farther others DON'T get), and you begin to HATE the person ahead of you in line. Motivation? Not so much for me.

Dude, Target? Doesn't the store employ like, 7 million people? How can it be that your decreasing your hours forces others to become indentured servants? When I worked there, they were flexible to the point of being pushovers. Chuh!

Hmmmm...if you really wanna know if ol' Jon is gay or not, you and a female co-worker should position yourselves near him and say very loudly, "Oh my God don't you think John Mayer [Pierce Brosnan, whoever] is soooo cute?" If the guy has a gay bone in his body, he'll have to respond.

Girlie, you need to put in a link for notes and G-book, so that stupid people like me will remember to leave you a note or entry in GB, because they forget that they can go to your profile and like, leave you a note that way. Derr, Anne. ^_^

"Pre Adoption" Phase! That's great ;) I will keep updating... I also managed to get some pictures, maybe I will post them :) Yeah it sucks that dorms can't have pets. Ours doesn't allow that either. But Sea Monkeys are perfect. Cute and snuggly, cept behind a plastic cage...

Hey, thanks for adding me! The Sea Monkeys are doing fine, still "swarming" about. Aren't you so jealous of me? I would be... well you know, if I didn't have Sea Monkeys! Okay, so writing notes at 2:34am is not cool, so I am going to shut up now... Thanks for stopping by ;)

Girl, you are crazy! But so cool. Love the way you write! It took me a minute to realize the style you were writing in the latest entry, but when I caught on (towards the end because I'm so dizzy!), I was like, "She's awesome!" I'll talk to you later though, kay? I love your layout, btw. I meant to tell you that earlier, but of course, I had problems remembering which user you were! :( Sorry! It's all crazy... @_@
