You are absolutely right about the different Chinese accents. My two Chinese students speak Mandarin and they didn't know anything about this "gung hay fat choy" stuff....they say it completely different!

thanks for the note. I love how you have the music playing- and the new template. I don't think it was "toxic" the last time I stopped by. Anyway, I can SO relate to your driving experiences. I just don't get people, it's like they think they can drive any damn way they want. Do they think that they can't get killed by driving like maniacs? Or that they wouldn't like it if someone did the things they do to other drivers? stupid people!

thanks for your note at my guestbook. I REALLY miss you. My computer quits everytime i try to look at your diary (????) I thought of you because I am teaching my kids at school some Chinese caligraphy (for Chinese New Years) we have also painted watercolor dragons, and we are making a large dragon head out of paper mache to be used in our dragon parade. I know what your chinese writing mean 'Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.'The handwriting is not bad.:-), I am a Chinese.But it is diffferent from the way I usually use.The one you use is simplified.It's mainly used in mainland China.The traditional one is mainly used in Hong Kong,Taiwan and Singapone.As I live in Hong Kong,I use the traditional one.But don't worry,all Chinese can read both character.

I own two Yu-Gi-Oh! stickers that I'd like to give to somebody else. (They're duplicates.) One is of Beaver Warror, and the other is Toon Summoned Skull. I miss The Zeta Project too. Another show I liked was Cubix. I don't know the full schedule yet, but I think Jackie Chan Adventures got renewed too, along with Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokemon. (I used to watch episodes of JCA, but I lost interest.)

re: surfing. No, I don't surf anymore. Although I did when I was a kid from ages 9 -12. My son is an avid surfer, I will have to live thru him now. I used to skateboard, compete in gymnastics and tennis (sigh) I miss those days.

I read that article, most of it. Very interesting. Like you said, it was well written. But I think he's grasping at straws to blame the music. Everyone listens to music, does it mean it determines what we do day to day. Or how we treat people? I don't think so. Our families, teachers and friends have a big influence in that. That's what should be examined. Just my opinion.

I know how to spell the Wright Brothers name. I grew up 2 miles from "The Wilbur and Orville Wright Brothers Airport" which contains a museum and one of the early Wright flyers. I misspelled and mis-pronounced the name for Ironic effect. I am sad to say you are the first to notice the brothers names were wrong, and about 10 people in my office are from Dayton. They had no idea. Thanks for the comment, but I assure you Leon makes most mistakes on purpose. If you will look at my favorite movies you will also need to know that I know where Braveheart took place. I just think it is funny. I am glad to see so many people want to see Leon slip, but I am trying to stay one step ahead.

Wow! How completely insane about the thongs for little girls and those shorts saying "Hot Spot" on them. Ugh! It makes me shiver... in the bad way!
Oh god. And Oprah! Yeah, I, admittedly, watched Oprah yesterday and got a tear in my eye when this guy gave this woman that got her scalp ripped off a new ear that looked exactly like a real one. Then Oprah gave her a new wig, and diamond earrings. Oh, that Oprah is just so darn nice! ;)
