I don't know why, but your diary made me a little sad! Not the life changes you are making, but that you are discontinuing it. Maybe it's just me!
from ariawoman :
Joe Incident made me think of joincidence, which is coincidence, with a j.
from ladust115 :
Everything will be fine. Cats are amazingly self sufficient and also good at making you feel guilty - it's one of their many talents. She will settle into your routine and things will be fine. About the waking you up part, if she wants to be fed, she will wake you up. Isis will let me go till about 8:00 then she is at the door announcing in her loudest voice that apparently SOMEONE has overslept and forgotten to feed the kitty. Linda
from ladust115 :
Ok, I seem to be the only one leaving messages. I hope you don't have diabetes either, but it is a manageable thing if you do. You should still be able to have children and everything. You should still be able to have an OCCASIONAL Chocolate as well. Besides, then you could really get on Jacques' case about sugar free chocolate!!!!!
from ladust115 :
When I was your age, I would have been far too timid and afraid to travel anywhere by myself - to some extent, I still am. I'm very proud of you for your adventurous spirit. Have a wonderful time!
from ladust115 :
Ok, NOW I understand. Sometimes the morons of the world unite against the smart people. Even though we ARE smarter, their sheer numbers overwhelm us. Congrats on the promotion! L
from ladust115 :
Even though I live in a small town where murderer/rapists are very rare and my husband makes sure everything is locked up tight when he leaves for work at night, I still am very disconcerted by things that go "bump" in the night. I have a solid wood door to my bedroom and, if I hear a noise like that, I lock THAT door too and wait. If something/someone tries to get in there, I'll call 911. If I'm totally paranoid, I'll bring my cell phone into the bedroom with me so no one can cut the phone lines. I know, kind of crazy, but what can you say?
from hattaway :
My parents went to see a PG movie Saturday, and there was a lady in there with a baby who wouldn't stop crying. When my dad suggested, after more than ten minutes of the wailing, that she might want to take the baby out of the theater, she told him to "f up." Um, okay, forget that it's rude, what does that even mean?
from ladust115 :
Warning about purple passion plants! If you see a flower start to come into bloom, nip it off before it does, they smell HORRIBLE! Like mildew or bad milk horrible. Other than that, they are very nice plants! This has been a public service announcement
from ariawoman :
Um, no it wouldn't be a good idea to stick a screw driver in there. Outlets are usually pretty easily replacable. I'm not sure if i remember how to do it, however. I have a shitload of white outlets i bought when I moved here and then never did anything with, if I remember I'll bring some with me on the 3rd and we can see what happens. We'd need to be able to cut off power to whatever outlets are damaged...when the hell did i become a fix it person?
from ladust115 :
Congratulations! What colors are you using in the living room? Linda
from pookapella :
I love that painting. I had to do extensive studies of it last semester in Modern Art 1. The idea that all those dots and form just a stable image is so cool. LOL, I think everyone should have a print or poster of it.
from ariawoman :
I believe it's called Sunday Afternoon on the island of La Grande Jatte. Seurat. It's pointillism I think. I had to study that in high school french class, for some odd reason LOL. I guess the reason was so I'd know what it's name was to tell you later in life...14 years later, to be exact LOL. haha. Who said I wasn't cultured HAHAHA.
from ladust115 :
That is a lovely futon. I agree, cherry is a very pretty wood.
from ariawoman :
Sue needs a job...
from ladust115 :
Um, Louise, Spielberg is Jewish, isn't he?
from plaidskies :
it's oregon trail, dude. how could anyone think that was not a cool tshirt?
from rockapenguin :
I love Grey's Anatomy too! I think you're the first person I've heard who watches it. I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one. And I agree, the season was too short. I hope it comes back in the fall.
from ladust115 :
I'm 51+ years old and have NEVER been called for Jury Duty. Neither has Don. He actually gets paid by his company if he has Jury Duty and would like to be called. We don't get it. We are both registered voters. You can't mean to tell me that there just aren't that many cases to be heard!
from gembrat :
In MA you can be called to jury duty every 3 years, if you've actually been. Daughter was called last year, but put on standby. Then she didn't end up having to appear, so she & I both got notices this year. It sounds like they have the same video there that we saw. And our start time was 8am.
from plaidskies :
I'm here for your birthday. I've made no other plans specifically because it's your birthday. Let me know what it is that you want to do. I already got you a gift but i'm keeping it at work so that I don't give it to you in advance.
from ladust115 :
I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. When you were listing the "what ifs", it reminded me of my aunt who DID lay in bed for 3 days with a broken hip. She recovered, but then went to live with her daughter. I'm glad that wasn't the case with your grandmother.
from ariawoman :
Avoid the noid!!!! I totally remember that slogan.
from ariawoman :
HAHAHA I'm EXACTLY the same way. I can't tie just 1 shoe, it drives me insane. The uneven pressure sucks!!!! Can you tell we are both Taurus, maybe it's in our sign to be insane...
from madelin :
Aw man, I love ya Louise. We do make a great trio and share a lot of good, and bad, and inbetween with each other. I dearly cherish it.
from ladust115 :
You should know by now that I always read everything you write!
from spaltor :
people do that to me, too. except that that can't pronounce my "name of company." "good morning, tsai performance center." "yeah, hi. is that the chai/thai/t.s.a.i/t'say theater?" and now that the new arena is open on west campus, people call me to buy hockey tickets and get pissed that i'm not the agganis arena. ugh.
from ladust115 :
I told Sue yesterday and I want to tell you as well, I am incredibly proud of you two for doing this. It's wonderful to expand your horizons and you are at the perfect time in your life to do that. I know you will have a wonderful time and can't wait to hear the stories when you get back! Linda
from ladust115 :
The reason they don't make women's clothing sized by measurements is because so many women LIE about their measurements (although, I don't know WHO they think they are fooling). Plus, they put the mens size right on the tag on the back of jeans, you know, the leather one that doesn't come off. No woman would be caught DEAD advertizing her ACTUAL measurements. I'm not saying I don't agree with you, just saying that's why. I'm not even the same size in two separate pair of jeans by the same manufactureer. Go figure! Linda
from ladust115 :
Yay for planning and taking trips with friends. How I would love to see you two in London. It occurs to me that maybe the brits should be warned, but . . . . Naah! Have lots of fun and take lots of pictures!! Linda
from ladust115 :
Congratulations. Every milestone is an occasion to celebrate so YAY for Louise!!!
from jelligyrl :
Congrats!! A year is a huge accomplishment. :) Don't sell yourself short. I'm going to order chocolate soon, after Valentine's day. :) I want to try this fabulous stuff. Did you know your chocolate was ranked number 7 in consumer reports???
from jelligyrl :
you're an evil shriveled up thing who has been corrupted by evil. Although you can take comfort in it that at least it doesn't last forever. :)
from madelin :
I'm there for you girl, I'm your friend till the end.
from jelligyrl :
you rock lou!! just thought i'd pass that along in the midst of all this tampon talk. :)
from ladust115 :
I use Tampax Pearls. They grow wider instead of longer. I hate to bum you out, but, at this time of MY life I have to use both tampons AND pads at the same time. I have never been really happy with any tampons except Rely, and they seemed to cause toxic shock syndrome so they took them off the market. Hello, are people so stupid that they forget they have had one in for over 24 hours? The Pearls are closer to what the Rely were like, but not close enough. Ok, THAT ramble went on longer than I intended.
from ariawoman :
I use Tampax exclusively. I hate playtex (i dont like the thin assed string they use on theirs) and I dont do non-applicator ones like OB. I've never tried OB with the applicator. I do agree that tampax gets long/thin but I never have any issues with that. As far as slipping, mine only slip down if they are too full of blood, or i take a shit LOL. Now there's too much information...
from madelin :
I personally use playtex myself. I agree with the tampex.. Not that they fall out, they are just uncomfortable in general.
from ladust115 :
OK, so you are like 4 years older than me? Damn, I thought I was the old woman around here.
from hattaway :
RE: Global warming. Amen and right-o. Besides, ironically, if there WERE an upward shift in global temps over the long haul the result would most likely be massive evaporation of the oceans which would create a cloud cover, thus reflecting the heat of the sun and eventually cooling the earth back down. They just haven't been tracking climate changes long enough to conclusively say that it's getting "hotter," I don't think.
from ladust115 :
I read it, too!
from ariawoman :
I just wanted to document that i read the whole thing even though you said nobody would lol.
from madelin :
Amen! Very well put! Ditto!
from ladust115 :
Maybe you are just in like. That's ok, too.
from rockapenguin :
What Paula said. See I read too. Locking is bad.
from wonka1106 :
great entry about religious persecution. I couldn't agree more.
from madelin :
I read your diary!!!
from ladust115 :
If you go back to the gym, I will go back to the treadmill downstairs! Deal?
from ladust115 :
Yes, please put some stuff on your site. I love to read what you write. (Note: rhyming was completely unintentional!)
from lilclownie :
I have just caught up with your diary. Wow. Cool. Wow everything.
from ladust115 :
I am very proud of you as well. You have come such a long way and worked hard to get there. Pat yourself on the back and give yourself a big hug from me!
from jelligyrl :
go for the manager. I'm sure you'll be fine. DOn't be afraid to take a chance cause you rock. :)
from ladust115 :
You have to tell me when this episode will air. I LOVE Vincent D'Onofrio!! I'm glad to hear that he is a nice person, I'd hate to have to start disliking him because he wasn't nice to you! By the way, I'm having lunch with your mother tomorrow! Linda
from singinachau :
hey lou-lou! :) I finally got Jason's CD/DVD too! It's incredible! He's sooo brilliant! I love him! I'd have to agree with you about the 'audience shots', just leave the camera on Jason, please. The audience singing along almost ruined 'You and I Both' for me. I'm glad they were able to fix that during the mixing. aura http://achau211.blogspot.com
from ladust115 :
"Look at the way the bark is cut up, why is it like that?" and me responding, "I'm sorry to have failed you again." And what happened next, did you fall on a chocolate sword? That is too funny. You know, according to Murphy's law, they WILL use that opening, and they will use it over and over and over again! Wish our cable system HAD the style channel, but NOPE!
from ladust115 :
Your job review went well, somehow I'm not surprised. That's a pretty big raise. You deserve it! Linda
from ladust115 :
It's so difficult when one of our hero's dies. She truly lived a long and inspirational life and touched so many lives.
from ladust115 :
I love the way you think and am so glad you share it with us!!
from lilclownie :
it didn't get passed? Thank goodness, I was worried.
from ladust115 :
I hate that your cousins are such horrible people. I am also sorry that your mother doesn't seem to notice how evil they are. The loss of a place of comfort is a really big loss and I can certainly understand why your cousin moving in with your grandmother totally pisses you off. I suspect your mother is trying to force everyone to be one big happy family and you know that is just not going to happen. Try to understand her and have patience with her. When she finally comes to the point that she accepts that these young women are as evil as their mother, it's going to hurt a lot and she will need you even more then.
from madelin :
I'm sorry that your cousins suck so much. And I said the same thing to a Bush supporter just last week. Wouldn't Michael Moore be being sued left and right for slander and what not if he was "making shit up" and calling it a documentary? They had nothing to say to that.
from ladust115 :
My family reunion is this coming weekend also, but it will be anything but peaceful. There will be drinking, swimming, drinking, singing, drinking and more drinking! YeeHaw!!!!!! Yay for roudy family reunions! Linda
from singinachau :
I am jealous, yet again! You got to see Jason Mraz for the 2nd time. I do wish the same thing as you, I wish he was less popular (not that that's a bad thing on his part) and that I knew about him during his Java Joe days. Not a lot of annoying, teeny-bopper fans, that's for sure. I hope to see him here in L.A. at the Walt Disney Concert Hall next month. aura http://achau211.blogspot.com
from spaltor :
i was joey, too - go figure. i don't get it.
from bluewillow29 :
Happy 21st Birthday!!!! :-) I hope you have a blast of a birthday - and if you indulge a little too much, just try and remember to take an asprin and drink somewater before you go to sleep. If that plan falls through, tomorrow morning go with greasy food like McDonalds or something (which sounds gross as hell with a hang over, but it really does work!). ~tonya
from spaltor :
i agree with you on the finale. but, really, that's no big surprise...
from jelligyrl :
so what's the name of your new body wash?
from mingo578 :
i've been meaning to tell you but now i remember! i LOVE the sushi layout. love it. can't wait to see you in a few weeks :)
from singinachau :
hey, i'm officially jealous! u got to see The Real Group! i was planning on flying out there just 2 see them! oh well. i'm glad u got 2 go and enjoyed yourself. thanks for sharing ur TRG experience! --aura http://achau211.blogspot.com p.s. Jason Mraz is going to be in NYC on May 24th. :)
from madelin :
Who is Real Group?
from madelin :
whats the cherry festival?
from wonka1106 :
Louise, you are very influential. First it was jason mraz, then dave barry, and now i am listening to Konstantine on repeat.
from ladust115 :
Doesn't surprise me a bit!
from lori514jh :
Hi Louise - did you go to Little Red? I think I was an assistant teacher for your class in the late 1980's - you can email me at deenahesq at america on line if you want - all the best to you! Lori
from madelin :
Hahaha! It's better reading the letter than when you actually told me about the letter!
from ladust115 :
Yay, you ROCK - I knew you would absolutely shine in the right job!! Happy Easter!
from bluewillow29 :
congrats on the job!!! i didn't get any of the hints, but I'm always kinda slow. And just think, if you can get through day 1 with a cold & menstrual, it's only going to be up-hill from here!! :-) ~tonya
from madelin :
I still have my woobie as well so I completely understand your post!
from madelin :
then that means it was 3 years yesterday since I SAW you and laughed at you for being a "bad liar about underage drinking" as PW!!! hehe
from rae-babe :
Since I live in Germany I can tell you that I have had a few co-workers who have been able to find tickets back home for around 3 or 400 dollars. I know American had a deal about two months ago where the tickets were about $460. You just have to dig but the deals are out there (that and if you know someone here it would be a sin not to take advantage of them for free lodging ;0)
from madelin :
they would be calling me "gutter girl" as well if I heard the same comment. LOL
from lilclownie :
How do you read a menorah?
from ariawoman :
Actually it's BandAid, so all the proceeds of "Do They Know It's Christmastime" go to charity over there...
from lilclownie :
Oh, that "Do they know it's Christmastime" by Band Aid. You brought up some good points about it (never really thought about the whole not-celebrating-Christmas thing, which is funny...), but I do have to add that for me, at least, it's one of those songs that gets stuck in my head and drives me to the brink of insanity. Just felt like sharing.
from wonka1106 :
What you said about rockapella really hit home.
from maybeuknow :
Take it. If I had the chance to work for one of my favorite chef's I would. If your social life is the only thing standing in your way then maybe you need to reevaluate your priorities. But if all the elements are there for success, grand opprotunity and advancement. Call that chef and go for it!
from jelligyrl :
First and foremost, congratulations!!! Personally, I'd take the job. Yes the hours would suck temporarily, but think of it as paying your dues. At least it's a job, at the place you may enjoy. DOn't just look at the money and the hours. Look in your heart and follow that. The money and new schedule will come once they see your talent. Besides, you might like only working 3 days a week. Just make sure that you can pay your rent and have a little left over for spending. Additionally, you could still work temp jobs during the week, or go to school, or take classes, so this might afford you some more free time. I do hope you get the job and that you take it.I've always felt I needed to live somewhere in the south and look where I am now! If I hadn't just taken the plunge, I never would have left California and moved out here. Good luck and keep me posted on how it goes. Much Love. :)
from rockapenguin :
I wanna go see Michelle Branch. FF! :(
from spaltor :
i eat italian ice the same way! go figure...
from jelligyrl :
hi! YOu need a link to this from your diary. :) Anyway, I love italian ice tooo!!!! And here I was thinking I was the only one. :) Sandwhiches rock and it sounds like there's an art form to it. Anyway, I'm off. Take care!! :)
from bluewillow29 :
Louise, You're right, racism isn't color blind. Black, Hispanic, Asian, or White - anyone can hate. And don't forget about the Christians who hate Jew, yet worship one, and all whole Catholic/Protistant thing that has killed how many people over the centuries? Hate is Hate & it's wrong. Yay you for having the guts to say something about it. ~tonya
from singinachau :
hey lou-lou! jason mraz is great! i have his cd and I can't seem to stop listening to it. you should definitely pick up a copy. april's seen him live and she said that he's awesome live. :) --aura http://achau211.blogspot.com
from faceoflight :
Hey!! I saw that you're an Anthony Bourdain fan, AND a chef, which is awesome!!
from echoofnecco :
Congratulations on moving to The Big City! Part of it anyway. I'm sure you'll love it! Tamarillicent
from lilclownie :
I used to work at a movie theatre. "It's a pleasure having you here" is indeed a stupid thing to say. And the employees feel 10 times dumber than the phrase. So I really enjoyed your thoughts on it. Even laughed out loud. Thanks!
