cool diary!
from liaklunk :
*laugh* I've missed you!!
from keltao :
hi jesse sorry once again for venting at you at the Hut....thanks for listening to my ranting and offering some bits for future contemplation take care my chaotic friend -C
from dicentra :
Procrastination is usually a function of wanting time to stop. Or something. Please refer to MY ENTIRE DAMN DIARY for examples. Otherwise, I think it's partially because we feel so unimportant, we want attention, and so we do things that will get us that....negative or positive. But the main reason I procrastinate is this: When I was a kid, my mother set me up for failure by giving us tasks that could not possibly be done to her specifications and telling us we had five minutes to do it. Thus, I get all tangled up in the process of doing it. It really helps me to step back, break the task down to small pieces and do one at a time. I also have to give myself permission to not do it at all. "Cause really....is life going to end if I don't? Of course, if life IS going to end if I don't...then I try to just go ahead and do it. Wow this was really rambling....hope it helps.
from mixup :
thank you anyway, Jesse...I cancelled it. It just got too hard to manage. I do appreciate the offer, though.
from jimgon :
Sex in public places is a true treasure of life.
from jimgon :
The Void as Sacred Well I could go into this whole thing about the void representing the womb and the womb being the originator of life being in itself sacred, but where would that go. Maybe the void is sacred because it's an absence of everything. That would entail and absence of thought. An absence of thought to me would entail meditation and hence Nirvana. So the void is obviously Nirvana, and is sacred.

Bitterness is good. It helps validate our existence. Bitterness, love, hate, it's all emotional validation. It tells you that you exist in this world of over advertised nonsense.
from mixup :
Thompson, all my punk leanings not withstanding, is my all time favorite songwriter/guitarist. "52 Vincent" is one of the greatest songs ever recorded, and I eman that completely. I saw him do it at the Blackthorne Tavern in Easton, MA in front of a crowd of about 100 people on my 31st birthday...mmmmmmm...
from mixup :
You quoted Richard Thompson! Specifically, the only Richard Thompson song I actually can really play on the guitar using the same chords and fingers he does. Thank you.
from sirentone :
hehe and now im busing out to upstate Ny to see my boy- what a day its been
from mixup :
Thanks. We'll miss you...
from keltao :
Hi, Jesse. Let me say I can relate to your post about poetry/performance/writing, etc....For me I feel almost the same way....Like when I am reading I am someone else, someone more attractive, more creative, more passionate, more alive.....But it's more than just a performance high, it's like a ritual, an invocation, like a swirling vortex of chaos magic.....It is a little like falling in love....when it happens it is more real than anything else, and when it's not happening nothing you can do can fake it.... That's why I have such a love-hate relationship with performance poetry and the mania of "intense introverts" (like that line) and probably why I can't slam.... Peace....Keep writing, keep performing, you're good at it...Take care... Chris
from jimgon :
Hey. I'm a little late on commenting on a post. There's a little thing that you have to remember when dealing in situations where someone gets fired. It's not personal. It's business. I know that's hard to deal with on many levels, but it's the truth. It's the sort of thing that let's you sleep at night. I haven't had to be the one firing yet, but I have been the one to say that someone couldn't have a job. Interviewing people isn't a lot of fun either. But anyway don't look at it from a solidarity perspective. Remember the Soviet Union? Poor quality of everything because there was no incentive to do better. Try thinking in those terms. Depending on how often I read and comment one of your diaries you'll notice I tend to ramble. I'll be keeping my diary parked at HuSi.
from timpression :
Yes. I can't say my reasons are exactly like yours, but yours are valid reasons. I concur.
from mixup :
I loathe video games. I can't think of anything I'd rather avoid like the plague. I like to swim, though. it's solitary. maybe I should start that again.
from mixup :
nice post...and the reason you write is the reason you write. don't worry about it. (not that you do.)
from anselm23 :
Duh, sorry about not responding to your thing about a white wolf writing sample. I would do half a dozen characters -- physical descriptions, motivations, personal habits, and STATS. They seem to be short of folks who can write good, believable characters, and the numbers that describe those people. Learn the system inside and out; prove you can write without any spelling errors and with good grammar... you'll do fine.
from bantuathach :
Thanks! (Dinsdale was a looney, but he was a happy looney....lucky bastard!)
from silentone :
well, if you did like her, would she still be a bad fit for the job? there's one person I would fire at work that I like, but she can be insubordinant. luckily, I do not need to make that decision.
from mixup :
Good point. But they're trendy right now...
from javabill :
"That's how I know you are gay; a straight guy wouldn't say "sex and girls," it is redundant." this is funny as hell!! (& very true)
from dokuritsu :
obviously the policing actions the US has taken have made the world a safer place.. the same way that a schoolyard bully can claim to have restored order to a playground while all the other children mosey about, silent, for fear of retaliation. the order is there, but the ethic in restoring that order is the questionable part. and you're right. bush isn't evil. he's just inept.
from sirentone :
u know who i am :-p
from liaklunk :
thank you for thinking about me Jesse. You have no idea how much it means to me. *HUGS*
from anselm23 :
I'm glad Manacle and Coin meets with your approval. It was a favorite of mine to write. Now you can look forward to the one I've just finished. As far as a game of it goes, though, I've yet to find anyone who actually plays the game.
from liaklunk :
Happy Birthday cutie! :) Welcome to 30something! (Trust me it's a good thing) Lia
from bantuathach :
Yep. The spring flower show is next week. Guess I should pick out the painting I'm going to interpret, huh? Anyway, I will have three relaxing days in Iceland, at least two of which are to include hot springs, before we get to Ireland. Thanks for asking!
from sirentone :
serious? lemme make sure my federal tax check comes in, being unemployed, till then i have $3
from timpression :
Sorry about the somewhat rude message on your answering machine...I was somewhat distraught. Longish Story.
from liaklunk :
maybe I spun off a little too soon, but on the radio, local news and CNN all I heard was Janet, that was it. Thanks for the info on J.
from mixup :
Hmmmm...I'm thinking of words like "Schadenfraude" in German, "Duende" in Spanish, "Saudade" in Portuguese -- words that describe emotional states that we certainly have, but which never got their own words in English. Why is that?
from javabill :
<gives a standing ovation> bravo!! what wonderful singing!! i laughed, i cried, it was better than "Cats".
from mixup :
And right after I left that last note, a banner add flashed on the screen that said, "Dragged in by Schroedinger's Cat". Weird.
from mixup :
That deserves a great big Boolean yodel...which, of course, goes on pretty much to infinity.
from liaklunk :
our current voting system sucks big time. With PR at least if the individual I want to vote for (green party for example) at least has a chance to be voted in whereas if I vote for them now it's just a wasted vote. Is there another system that gives the voters more than the huge democrat/republican party choice?
from liaklunk :
Have you ever heard of proportional representation?
from javabill :
i CRUSHED your little imp asum! hahaha!! (ok, so i tied 2-2 on the other one, but still...)
from mixup :
Dammit, 3 for 3, you win.
from liaklunk :

from mixup :
Wasn't that story something, then? Damn.
from javabill :
at long last... First, the rules that you'll post somewhere in the entry with the answers to this interview: 1. Leave me a note if you want to be interviewed. I will respond; I'll ask you five questions. 2. You'll update your journal with my five questions and your five answers. 3. You'll include this explanation. 4. You'll ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed. Now the questions: 1.) you talk a lot about spending time with your brothers. talk about your brothers & your relationship with them. 2.) so, what’s up with all the buttons you wear? when did you start collecting them & why so many & how many do you have anyway & what is your favorite? 3.) you have a true affinity for music buy “grrl bands”. what is it about the music that interests you & who are your faves? 4.) talk about your relationship with your folks & what do you think get from each of them? 5.) you come to poetry readings on a regular basis, yet you rarely read. how often do you write & what to you get from readings? what poets have the biggest impression on you?

Re: "No idea what I am doing tonight, other than getting really drunk at 6 and driving around thickly settled residental neigborhoods with my lights off" You are EEEEvillllll. . .
from rushelle :
aw, jesse, ya know I love ya ;)
from liaklunk :
First, the rules. 1. Sign my guestbook saying you want to be interviewed. I will respond; I'll ask you five questions. 2. You'll update your journal with my five questions, and your five answers. 3. You'll include this explanation. 4.You'll ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed. Now the questions. 1) I know that you play DND. Others may or may not know. Can you describe us your favorite character, and an event he was in recently? 2) I know you've been going to school on and off again. What are you majoring in, and what do you want to do when you graduate? 3) I'm actually going to steal this question from April who gave it to me, but I really enjoyed it, and want to know what you're gonna put. :) Finish this sentence "You haven't lived until...". Now finish it four more times. 4) What is your greatest inspiration in your writing? When do you get it? (sleeping, drinking, in the middle of work or at class) 5) What is the nicest thing you've ever seen one person do for another person. Thanks for being patient with me Jesse, enjoy, and I can't wait for your answers :)
from mixup :
Not exactly...but I do think there have been several of these really poignant moments about mortality and permanence, moments where the whole room felt a seismic shift...that's all.

*laugh* My friend Neil. He definately needs a girlfriend so he doesn't need Kevin so much. *roll eyes*
from keltao :
My five questions: 1. How did you start getting interested in all that poetry by Eastern Writers? 2. Who is your favorite poet and why? 3. What is your favorite poetry venue in Worcester (like me you get around a lot to a lot of them) 4. What is your opinion about Slam in general and Worcester in particular. 5. Describe your favorite place and why you like it.
from p0etik :
Thanks so much for thinking of Goldie. She is doing well. We both love the pain meds...See you soon. Becky

Hey, yeah, I saw craig drop a shot glass down that front stairwell once and it landed right-side-up. It's a big stiarwell. But wasn't it FUN hauling my boxspring over the balcony with ropes? heehee I am still grateful, by the way.
from sirentone :

Well, the website is www.hostingofthebards.com. Not a lot more to say; I'm reading at around 11 AM, just one poem (Guernica). I hear the area's pretty remote, and it was a royal pain in the ass finding a place to stay. (I'd offer you space, but we're booked solid.)
from keltao :
WOW! Talisman! What a blast from the past!! Let me know the next time you guys play... Jay and I had all the boards plus the "Dragons" expansion set! Talk to you later, Chris
from keltao :
Hey, Jesse.... Sorry to hear about your car troubles.... I never new you were an "Edhead" LOL! Believe it or not, they are not from Ohio, they are from Virginia, and I first saw them in a honky-tonk bar my mother took me to when I went to visit her down south.... I bought the first CD, got it autographed, never imagining that fiver or six years later they would be headlining at Falcon Ridge!... Awesome live show, if you have never been, you should definately check it out.... Talk to you later.... Chris
from kittencute :
I stumbled upon your blog and wanted to say hi. I never use my diaryland account. You can check out my dead journal if you want. www.deadjournal.com/users/cute_kitten Katie (formely of Aslan and Katie)
from bantuathach :
Did you stay at the scary "family fun" KAO campground, or did you find somewhere cool? Also, did you go to the big commercial mine? I hear there are smaller, privately owned properties that let you mine also. Any tips for finding stuff? (We're thinking of camping a couple nights and b&b a couple nights.)
from badgerted :
Ugh - I've done that before. Ended up taking Blue Hill Ave. right through Mattapan at 1 in the morning and getting on 128 at 138 in Canton. NASTY.
from anselm23 :
Hey, Jesse, I wound up getting invited out last minute to a birthday party which started at noon, and ended when I left at 10pm, more or less. It was a good shindig, and it was the kind of evening I needed. Maybe we can get together and play Talisman some day this week!?
from rishema :
hey jesse- is fastlane still looking for help? i need a better job so i can move to the city
from liaklunk :
no charge to get onto the beta, but they're only letting a few on right now. No clue on when they'll be going live or how much it'll be. Real helpful I know. Sorry. :(
from rwgill :
Congrats on the job, whatever it may be.
from garyhoare :
OK, I'll bite. What does "pulled a Gary" mean?
from liaklunk :
I heard they were a front for the mob. (Diamond)
from rwgill :
Hi Jesse - all I've seen is the rough schedule found at http://www.poetsasylum.org/other.html. The flyer indicates you can email wcpaboard@yahoo.com for more info. Might be worth a shot if you are looking for more detail.
from mixup :
Glad you're back. I know it must have been a difficult week. We missed you at SPEAK, but the good news is, we havea new venue, and we're continuiing wihtout a break....
from anselm23 :
OK... here's the answer to the question, in part. Geoff has got writers lined up for Exalted stuff for at least a year or so, and he's not thinking much farther ahead than that. Sword and Sorcery has an open call for writers for their next creature collection book: check out SUBMISSIONS at http://www.swordsorcery.com/ Basically, if you can impress them there, they'll start trying to use you regularly as a freelancer. Right now, though, they have so many tried and true freelance people, they're not going to give out assignments to a new writer on a chance that they're (you're) good. You're gonna have to show the initative to make a proposal before they'll take you seriously; alas, I don't think I can open a short cut here.
from anselm23 :
I got asked by them, and they were pretty specific about what they wanted. If you like, I'll pass your name and contact info on to Geoff, and suggest you as a writer. I make no promises about what they would want from you, and Geoff only deals with Exalted. I don't know how the sword and sorcery stuff is handled at all.
from rushelle :
Why Paris? And what are you doing monday? if I don't see you at the Kingdom I don't know what I'm capable of doing...
from rishema :
Actually it's Merissa its ok jesse- rishema is an old nickname (3rd grade)
from garyhoare :

from timpression :
Nope Jesse, I'm just a lowly Faught, not a Mason. I'd like to work up to reading at the lizard lounge...but for now, I'm an open mic kinda guy.
from rwgill :
Excellent movie - Cecil B. Demented. Loved it. Ted and I watched Serial Mom over the weekend as well. Delicious!!! Anyone for fruit salad?
from timpression :
beautiful. looking forward to the trip.
from rwgill :

from bantuathach :
Man, thank (isert name of diety of your choice here) for random factors...it's a good thing for *ME* that your dad made it to med school!
from badgerted :
Good luck!! Two in one day eh? You're a brave man - interviews tie me all up in knots. Hope I'll see you at Speak tonight... Ted
from badgerted :
Hey Jesse, I have no clue what half of the references are in your post today, but it made me smile nonetheless :)
from timpression :
Thanks for the heads up, Jesse. Rather than find and fix the problem, I just changed my name and moved. Reminds me of the year after I left Colorado. Tim
from timfaught :
If there's one thing I've learned in college, it's that Family is much easier to handle from 1100 miles away. Jesse, we need to touch base on the NYC-thing in May. tim
from mixup :
Ok...now tell us how you really feel. (Welcome back.)
from mixup :
Congrats!!! Great set. It was beautifully put together and well received...nice job.
from bantuathach :
Gracias...and thanks to your dad, too.
from mixup :
Great job last night...thank you. I'll be looking forward to your feature...
from badgerted :
That "How Republican Are You?" quiz is just wrong. 0% is "A Saint" and it makes 86%-100% sound like the antichrist. One wonders how Republican the author is... and somehow I ended up like 25% or something ----- and I'm certainly more Republican than Democrat.
from liaklunk :
Thank you. :) *hugs* Kev's ok, and the car.. well... we'll see about it. The right side bumper and door are a complete mess. Tons of 'confetti' on the ground ... waiting on the insurance people. Miss you :)
from the-spark :
Really? PKD is one of the guys I have been reasonably curious about, so that appeals. It'sa humongous book, isn't it? And thank you for the nation comment. I have to go add you to my dossier.
from mixup :
Dude, that's really fucked up. I thought it was so fucked up, in fact, that I created the People's Republic of Forgetistan. So there.
from silentone :
In regards to "serious," have you seen "Bowling for Columbine"? It's a whole new look on the role of the media playing up fear
from mixup :
FUCK. This sounds like a killer show. The slam was VERY GOOD, too, but this was amazing, from the sounds of it. Are they coming back to NE on this tour?
from liaklunk :
*laugh*! Thanks :) Give away my true identity!
from rushelle :
I wondered if there was a god after I saw that commercial...you're so right. I don't think I'd have to lie about my age though...I'd have to lie about my I.Q. and "confess" that I am illiterate- *gasp*
from badgerted :
What about you, eh? How will you find your fame? It can't just go to everybody *else*, can it? Is luck really that sinister?
from lost-puppys :
what makes you think that I cant or dont do that anyways....and midgets too.
from mixup :
Hey, congrats on school...we'll have to do lunch sometimes while you're out here, since I'm right down the road.
from liaklunk :
We will NOT be venturing into those parts for fear that I will ABSOLUTELY loose him to the dark side. Muhahah *cough*
from stonedlily :
we are a useless generation... too true
from mixup :
Interesting letter re MLK day, Coltrane, etc...I thought a lot of it was dead on. I agree with you wholeheartedly that the NE does tend to think of itself as "past racism". As for Trane -- well, I love "A Love Supreme", but I think I have to lean toward "Interstellar Space" as his crowning achievement. Merely my opinion -- I'm a huge free jazz fan.
from p0etik :
Jesse - That letter was great. I can imagine working for MBNA and receiving that letter. I would be sending it to all of my co-workers. It is sooooo funny and well written for the voice of a dog! Becky
from javabill :
oh my GAWD!! you have to send that letter to them. too funny... too damn funny.
from bantuathach :
I really, sincerely hope that you are mailing that letter to the bank.
from anselm23 :
I think you should send the letter to the bank president. He deserves a piece of mail like that every once in a while, to prove what morons computers and mailing lists can be. And I think I'll start signing my cat up for mail catalogs and things, and see what comes back.
from liaklunk :
Each race has it's prefered class but as long as you stay close to 1 level away from each other, it doesn't matter... there are no prestege classes, and the game follows 3rd edition rules very closely. :) Hope that helps!
from mixup :
If I kill Sean because he is dark skinned, he dies from racism regardless of what kind of a clueless monster I am. If I get a lesser sentence for killing him than I do for killing a light skinned person, race as a social construct has a very powerful impact. And as for ethnicity as a better descriptor -- where do I fit? My dad was subject to Jim Crow growing up. No one seeing me thinks of me as anything but white, yet I live everyday with the legacy of my dad's misery and rage. All the rationalizations in the world don't change the fact that race and racism operate as if they are real. And that's enough for me to declare them real.
from mixup :
You said: "are you a racist: This question is fatally flawed. If we define race as a section of the population with a dramatic genetic difference from another section of the population then we must stop using race as a descriptor of parts of the human species because there are no significant genetic differences between people of different ethnic background..." True enough in the largest sense, although things like Tay-Sachs disease and sickle cell anemia beg the question a bit...but if we don't look at race as a biologically based scientific concept (and I agree wholeheartedly that we shouldn't for all the reasons you mentioned -- race simply isn't a scientifically defensible or significant categorization) but as a social construct, then the question isn't flawed at all. Race and racism in that sense are not only active but completely valid; people "acting" as though race "exists" and is valid make it exist and make it valid. The question "are you a racist" in this view inquires whether or not you act, consciously or not, in ways that support the institutionalization of one "race's" superiority over another "race". The sad, brutal fact that it while it isn't biologically true that "race" exists, this truth won't stop a Klansman from acting as though it does. In that sense, race indeed exists. Sad but true. ( I suspect that your answer would lead you toward a "no, I'm not" answer, of course.)

Hey -- something just struck me, Jesse: why the fascination with the Hedgehog? (I have an interesting reason for asking...)

I've actually run that shipwreck game in a class, years ago. Remind me to tell you about it some time...

They still are finding extreme errors on the test that could be the deciding factors on passing/failing a student. You said the shape was a triangle, but it is actually a rhombus (thanks Bill) it pushed you over the edge, you fail, no diploma for you. 5. Graduating Seniors: your educational career for the past 12 years is weighed upon this one test. You'd better pass it, or you wasted your time. No. This test is extremely BAD for students.

really GWAR?! is there any one WORTH seeing or should I bring a flame thrower?
from garyhoare :
I was thinking almost exactly the same thing about the Republicans being in power--how that fact will almost certainly guarantee a switch back to Democrats in two years. I just feel bad for the ten percent of people at one end or the other who get screwed each time it switches. Although I don't feel quite as bad when the top ten percent in income get screwed. What was I rambling on about? Oh yeah. CLINTON IN 2004! I have to go home.
from garyhoare :
I would like to see GWAR, but I'm going to be in NYC on the 9th. Yeah, it's the only weekend in like six months when I've actually had something to do, so your invitation is just a tease YOU BASTARD!! Sorry. It's the Vanilla Coke talking. Let me know how the show is.
from liaklunk :
:) thanks!
from liaklunk :
sorry, Sisters near Gameboro. The tiny little place at the bottom of Gameboro's driveway. Try it, they're awesome and have great prices. BUT, they're only open till like 2pm.
from rushelle :
Sorry for being so abrupt w/ you on Friday, I just really needed to have Tim and Mellissa to myself, going through a crap of a time lately. Did you get on the guest list?
from mixup :
Also: drop me a line if I don't stop by after the speech -- love to know how it went. chrysler.poet@verizon.net
from mixup :
Hey Jesse -- good luck tonight...I'll leave anthologies there for ya, and don't forget to mention that the next SPEAK will be November 13, "anger" is the theme, and Bill MacMillan's gonna feature...
from liaklunk :
whoo hoo Jill Stein!
from pgagnon999 :
Up late & stifling a scream or two. Going to see Adrienne Rich on Friday with Adam & Rushelle. You up to it?

Actually, the idea for crashing a plane into the World Trade Center was first floated back in the mid nineties -- it was found detailed among the writings discovered in the effects of the guy who BOMBED the WTC back in '93. The media laughed at it. His plan involved a plane full of explosives; looks like they figured out that a jetliner is already full of explosives -- big stretch, that. I recalled this the minute I heard about the attack last year...putting the whole "intelligence failure" of the gov't into even sharper relief...Sorry, once again the Lone Gunmen just prove to be as derivative as most of the rest of the X-Files universe (ouch-- did I say that?)...
from keltao :
Dear Jesse- DO NOT GO TO SAINT JOHN’S! It couldn't have been as bad as St Peter Marian!! What I mean about Philip K being "drug free" was that it is one of those books that can make you feel like you're on drugs even when you are stone cold sober!
from pgagnon999 :
Tell Katie I said Hi.
from pgagnon999 :
Consider your existence validated. Does Bush have a diaryland.com site? What would it be called? "The Adventures of Captain Cracker?"
from keltao :
Hi, Jesse...Sounds like it's been a rough week.... Hang in there.... Philip K Dick rules! Total drug-free mind-altering experience! Chris
from mixup :
"Punk" as modular poem. Y'know, I like that...it's a very punk (or at least New Wave) idea. I'm working on a self parody of it right now called "Drunk". Everyone else has done one of it...why not me? ;-)
from garyhoare :
Can I wear the bikini and carry the big cards imprinted with the number of the round? *Shudder* Man, that would be UGLY.
from kegboy :
ok..so im just a validating your existence.:) Catcha on the 'Lith if yer around them parts.
from bantuathach :
9/23...Finally! Yeesh, I thought I was the only one around here seriously enjoying life lately! Okay, and remember at O'Connors the other night we were explaining to my friends from Ohio how Worcester only has *3* degrees of separation as opposed to the traditional 6? Your dad is my dad's doctor???? I've met him, y'know. Weird, man....
from liaklunk :
I am everything everyone needs me to be. Nothing more or less. I am chameleon. Powerful yet worthless. Perfectly imperfect for my vunerabilities always seem to be clear. I am the small lost/forgotten child that wants to go home when the fair is over... and all that is left is me and the dust that won't even keep my footprints. It's been a rough couple months.
from liaklunk :
Who do YOU think I am?
from p0etik :
Jesse. Go to the change your template. Select "click here to change how your older.html archive page looks." Scroll through and locate something like %%older_entries%%. Cut and paste "%%older_entries%%" over it. (without the quotes) This should update the archives. Let me know if you need some more help. Bex
from liaklunk :
The naked model food platter was on one of those evening magazine shows (ET or Chronicle). VERY interesting. :)
from p0etik :
Hey Jesse, I have been meaning to drop you a note. I just got myself caught up on your diary. I am really enjoying it. See ya soon. Becky
from garyhoare :
Yeah, but when we do take part in relief missions we catch shit for that too. I'm just trying to figure out what everyone wants. It seems like, "give us money, help us and protect us, but stay out of our business, our culture and our country." Oh and by the way, "death to America." I'd love for there to be a way to fix this, but every answer we give is always viewed as wrong. I think we're just a scapegoat for everything.
from liaklunk :
Congrats on the new job! I hope you like it.
from mixup :
The new Sleater-Kinney album ROCKS, RULES, is THE BOMB, and that's all there is to say about that...DAMN.
from liaklunk :
Humm... no cures for em' besides decapitation, which isn't an option... breathe in some good warm tea...drink when tepid... good luck, I hope you feel better *hugs*
from garyhoare :
RE: Links Never mind! I figured it out. Whatever program that you're typing your diary into is producing curly quotes instead of straight quotes. There's probable a setting for "smart quotes" or something like that. Or if you copied and pasted the address, you have to go back and overtype the curly quotes with straight quotes. Aren't computers helpful?
from garyhoare :
RE: links. The way you're doing it should work. With diaryland you have to have the http:// in front of the web address, but you had that. Only other thing I can think of is make sure all your quote marks are in place and you have no extra spaces. Maybe try target="_new" instead of "window".
from anselm23 :
There is a reading in CT, but I'm not going to that. I'm going to a pagan circle in western MA. :-)

nonsence my good man, nonsence, and futher more the rulers of the worlds pathetic little nations shall comply with my demands or, I SHALL GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS THE MAN WHO BEDAZZELED THE WORLD WITH THE SPECTACLE OF ITS OWN DESTRUCTION!!!! BWWAAAHAAHAAHAA!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the note, Jesse...Just a point: it's not so much about what i'm doing or not doing wrong: more about being personally broken.
from liaklunk :
Warcraft 3 is supposed to be incredible. I've never played any of the games, but Alex says they're really good. He's been itchin' to get his hands on it. Now I guess I'll have to get it for him. :)
from liaklunk :
She's a very active 4 year old... did I mention Extremely Active?? *wink*
from liaklunk :
*grin* thanks, it's more like shouting to be heard in a room that's 2 football fields long... but hey, I slam, I gotta huge voice. *wink*
from garyhoare :
Re: Did you have to pay for the Gold membership to be able to set that up? Nope. I had a job with nothing to do and internet access and taught myself HTML. I do have my own server for images however. If you wanted to store images on diaryland's server, you would need a Gold Membership.

Re Audrey: What she did was shitty. That was using you. I know it hurts, but stop wasting your time here...tell her she hurt you, and if she has class, she may apologize and you can try this again. But honestly, sir, I wouldn't hold my breath.
from mixup :
Thanks for being there, Jesse -- it meant a lot to me to see faces I knew in the crowd...
from liaklunk :
Hey there, if you can on Saturday night goto the QVCC, 16 Greenwood St in Worcester for the Euphany reading... poets and musicians welcome. $5. at the door. Patty Keough is our first feature. Spread the word. Thanks in advance! Lia

from silentone :
Sorry we missed your BBQ...our friend Adam had his graduation party that day. Next time, I hope.
from garyhoare :
So the net effect of this ruling is this: It is less illegal to attempt to murder 300 people on an airplane that it is to attempt to murder 300 people on a boat or a train. Let me reiterate: stupidest.
from garyhoare :
The article I read said this: "But U.S. District Court Judge William Young threw out the charge, ruling that while an airplane engages in "mass transportation" it does not meet the official congressional definition of a "vehicle." He made no mention of the double jeopardy problem.
from liaklunk :
I'm sorry, I've got the Lion's yardsale from 6am to noon, then I have my nephew's h.s. graduation in Warren from 2pm till whenever. *hugs* I will miss you. I wish I could come. :(

Sorry Jesse -- gonna be in Maine for Saturday. Have a good one....

Ah!!!! Gotcha. Seen her recently? The new box set is GREAT.
from silentone :
BBQ 8th???
from mixup :
Hey -- just splitting hairs for fun -- how do you figure on Patti Smith showing up on a timeline post Clash and Sex Pistols? I've got bootlegs of early work from 1974. I figure her into the Television/Ramones timeline -- a true innovator from pre-punk days...
from bantuathach :
Hey! When did you take the athiest test? Luke keeps trying to take it but for the past couple days it comes up that the page is unavailable. ??? Bill got there too! We are confused.

I could use a dresser if you really have a surplus....
from mixup :
Nice job in the slam last night...and don't ever feel that slam's not about experimenting. playing it safe doesn't always get you the win, and if you're putting what you need to into the room, the points are completely unimportant...then again, I think they're always unimportant.
from bantuathach :
I also enjoy screaming profanities in my car! On that note, ever checked out The Pretenders first album? ("Not me, baby, I'm too precious...aw, F**K OFF!) You are sorry about missing Eleanor's birthday, but you are even MORE sorry you missed Cristin O'Keefe Aptowitz...she was BAD ASS!!! Later!
from anselm23 :
Jesse -- the problem in Microsoft Word which keeps inserting an apostrophe can be turned off, using the AutoCorrect... option on the Tools menu.
from mixup :
DINSDALE....
from mixup :
Enjoy Michael Moore -- although there's been a contimuing controversy about him reading at the anti-union Borders; odd for an old line guy like him.
from anselm23 :
Oh, so I'm a traitor, am I? I just got back from Los Angeles, and I've been sitting in airports or airplanes for about 20 hours. Excuse me, I need to go crash.
from lost-puppys :
do not be lonely, I will write you a note. it will be short.
from bantuathach :
Dear Spiny Norman....... Just okay???? I didn't write until today because I was protesting you ordering me around. So there!---(Hahaha...now you have been sucked in too!!!!!)................. Hugs, Dinsdale Piranha
from liaklunk :
Hey there! Had no idea you did this too! Very cool and excellent. *HUGS* I hope you feel better... I know the job thing will pan out eventually. (hope for sooner than later)!
