hope you are loving the mountains - isn't it always one foot in front of the other & then that magical time to look out & admire the view. all the places we have come from, all the places we are going. time to dream dream dream.
from fuschiashock :
i just realized that you were going to send me stuff and that you probably don't have my current address. there are only a few changes. it's 62A York St, instead of 152 Main. the unit number is still 2253. the postal code has also changed - in the second part, it's 1H3 rather than 1B3. thanks.
from fuschiashock :
hi.
from chelsea4k :
hey, sensei, email me what's going on with you at [email protected] I don't know how much I will be able to write in DL over the coming months, but I want to keep tabs on you... Hope things are going well.
from chuzzlewit :
We'll both have to go out clothes shopping - except I'll be heading to st vincent's op shop. Oh well, perhaps I'll find something cool. Hope life is treating you well.
from chelsea4k :
enjoyed tonight's entry (8-28) things i too am trying to keep in mind.
from fuschiashock :
(check out the facebook group for the most recent playlist.)
from fuschiashock :
of course.
from chelsea4k :
tried to phone, sensei. cell temporarily out of service? hit me up when you are back in working order.
from chelsea4k :
I'm thinking of you, Sensei. You are a resilient dude, keep that in mind. Also, I appreciate the DL description "Conor Oberst wishes..." - makes me smile. sometime we'll phone chat - you let me know.
from girl101 :
"a little love, just a little to tide me over." love love love that ♥
from fuschiashock :
are you on last.fm?
from chelsea4k :
sensei, phone joey. (a la ET phone home) i've tried to call a few times but your phone is out of service? nothing exciting to report, just wanted to check in on Mr. Southern Comfort.
from fuschiashock :
i don't know that song. i just looked for it on youtube, but no luck. i'll have to download it tonight.
from fuschiashock :
also: http://www.cbc.ca/photogallery/arts/1147/
from fuschiashock :
oh, and what about the guess who?
from fuschiashock :
i just saw your canada mix. perhaps i'll burn a copy. some canadian musicians i like that you didn't mention: THE WEAKERTHANS (from winnipeg), carl-ric hudon (francophone), christa couture (from vancouver), the constantines (from guelph, ontario), shotgun & jaybird (from sackville, new brunswick), shotgun jimmie (from sackville, new brunswick), gordon lightfoot (from orillia, ontario), great lake swimmers (from wainfleet, ontario), jean leloup (from sainte-foy, quebec), ian and sylvia (if only for the song "four strong winds"), julie doiron (from moncton, new brunswick), moneen (from brampton, ontario), the organ (from vancouver), portico (from vancouver), propagandhi (from portage la prairie/winnipeg, manitoba), rufus wainwright (although only sort of canadian), tegan and sara (from calgary, alberta), the cliks (from toronto), the hidden cameras (from toronto), WINTERSLEEP (from halifax). also, some that i don't particularly like, but that other people love: broken social scene, stars, buck65, joel plaskett, k. d. lang (if you can stand country...), sam roberts. i suppose our lady peace sort of fits with nickelback in being overplayed (in canada, anyway), but some of their music is pretty good (mostly the earlier stuff).
from fuschiashock :
ugh, rita and friends. i definitely never watched that. who knew she actually had someone good on that show? and tell me, how does someone in somewhere like texas come to appreciate a band like sloan, from halifax? i suppose you've been to halifax, though, no? also, i feel young. i was five in 1992 when the peppermint ep was released. usually 90s rock makes me feel old, because i can remember hearing it on the radio ten or more years ago, but i don't think that was ever really the case for sloan. have you heard never hear the end of it? i don't think i've heard anything after pretty together.
from fuschiashock :
it seems i can't listen to sloan anymore without thinking of you. hi.
from tofurious :
hey. I dig your writing. Mine is very whiny and selfish but if you want to checkitout the username is tofurious and password: poopoo
from chuzzlewit :
I don't think I've ever heard that song, but the lyrics make quite an impression. Now I'm curious about it.
from fuschiashock :
i didn't know there was such a thing as a mall date. sounds terrible.
from fuschiashock :
mine are dying on me too.
from fuschiashock :
i've thought a lot about a change of scenery. i tried to move to ottawa for school, but that didn't work out. i think moving would be a good thing, but it's not practical right now, and won't really be until i graduate. when that happens, i'm hoping to move to toronto (and go to u of t).
from fuschiashock :
yes, thank you!
from fuschiashock :
i think oregon would be nice.
from fuschiashock :
I don't think the Olympics are necessarily a bad thing. However, when homelessness is a serious problem in Vancouver, and the Olympics will make this worse, it's not something I can support.
from fuschiashock :
friends don't tell friends they're bad people.
from fuschiashock :
heh. well, there are a few that i like: feminism, environmentalism, humanism, socialism...
from fuschiashock :
have you read larry's party by carol shields? i think you'd like it.
from fuschiashock :
on the headaches: me too, me too. i think i should (re)read some nick hornby.
from fuschiashock :
(i haven't forgotten, i'm just slow.)
from fuschiashock :
aw. i was hoping your mailing address would be on facebook so i could surprise you with a card, but it is not.
from chelsea4k :
dunno what happened last night - i tried calling you back and it said your phone was out of service. wah wah. still a good chat, none the less. (and fun to hear your voice, mr. southern twaaaaang)
from fuschiashock :
i think i'm beginning to understand your white trash coke float. i've developed a taste of for orange juice mixed with vanilla soy milk.
from chelsea4k :
careful what you wish for - you may be receiving a call from me in the near future...
from chelsea4k :
sensei, send word of your happenings - everything ok?
from bi-pet :
boy, you rock!
from heylyla :
most definitely =)
from fuschiashock :
also, do you have facebook?
from fuschiashock :
you do? unfortunately, i don't currently have a mailing address. i'll try to remember to email it to you once i get one.
from fuschiashock :
i heard sloan on the radio today and thought of you.
from trigger-cut :
i'm glad i know you. really :)
from chelsea4k :
i need some guidance from my sensei... i miss our late night talks. send word of how you are doing when you get the chance.
from number9dream :
Hi. I had a chance to catch up on some of your entries today, and was surprised to find you're in Austin now. I'm glad for you! It sounds like things are going well for you. I'm in Austin, too. I moved here last May. If you are so inclined, perhaps we could meet for a drink? I don't have as much time on the internet as I would like, so I don't check here very often. You can find me at myspace.com/aquariumdrinker. B
from chuzzlewit :
<I>I like the word "stroppy". Is that australian?</I> You left me a note I never even noticed! I feel really bad about it. I think stroppy is an english word, originally. We use it all the time, probably because we're all stroppy in our family. It might be short for obstreperous. It's a cool word, but not as cool as 'mardy'.
from heylyla :
yay!! i'm happy for you. =)
from fuschiashock :
sounds like a plan.
from fuschiashock :
oh, and what adventures?
from chelsea4k :
sensei, i hate to hear you in distress. i will be thinking of you and looking forward to our next talk.
from fuschiashock :
it's only the old entries i want to hide. definitely not on myspace. you can add me on msn if you have it (nextlogicalstep). i'm also on livejournal - einsideout.livejournal.com
from chuzzlewit :
Cool, you did the happy list too. I'm right into writing lists lately, I think it's the closest I'll ever get to writing poetry. Can I read your story when it's finished? Chuzzlewit xoxo
from fuschiashock :
i was in sackville until late last night.
from fuschiashock :
mm, cafe au lait
from fuschiashock :
i'd like to pick up shells on the beach.
from heylyla :
lyla!
from sinnergi :
the world needs more good guys like you...and so do i. ha ha!
from fuschiashock :
it's an excellent song. also: i'm currently sitting here with limewire open, looking for so many of the songs you mention.
from fuschiashock :
i feel like nineties rock, which is making me feel old. i realized a week or so ago that long december (counting crows) came out eleven years ago.
from fuschiashock :
i'm also much too young for this.
from heylyla :
the ice of boston is muddy...
from fuschiashock :
and... happy birthday!
from fuschiashock :
merry xmas
from inside---out :
heh. i guess i'd rather be him than fuck him, but that's still not something i'd particularly want to do. congrats on the writing.
from trigger-cut :
damn skippy! put me in the first group.
from fuschiashock :
glad to hear you're happy
from fuschiashock :
the land of livejournal and also of trying not to fail my classes. we'll see how that last one goes.
from fuschiashock :
yay for shaving one's head.
from trigger-cut :
hey hey! i'm doing well. life's being extremely wonderful at the moment. you know, i was just thinking of you yesterday, so it's extremely good to hear from you. i hope you're happy too =0)
from sinnergi :
guys can be amazingly damaging, too. undeniably catastrophic. some people just train wreck your life in a very bad way...male OR female. you know...i think there's something to be said about taking the hard route--in your case, leaving the navy. it's difficult for sure, but it's how we adjust and respond and recover that builds character.
from hobosapien :
Without fear and illness, I could never have accomplished all that I have. - Edvard Munch
from fuschiashock :
actually, i don't remember who they are anyway. some of them are obvious, but others...
from fuschiashock :
endeavours... what a word. thanks! no one guessed who they were. oh well.
from fuschiashock :
um, what?
from chelsea4k :
weird... i think you should have the same username and password. email me if you can't remember them. will you be available for our infamous chats come this fall? i miss my sensei's guidance...
from fuschiashock :
so i know i'm alive too.
from fuschiashock :
i'm listening to sloan right now =D it's been too long.
from trigger-cut :
exactly! and i had a live version of always love, and i just couldn't wait for the studio version, cause i thought it was going to be 10 times as good. but there was just something.... i don't know. maybe it's over-produced.
from trigger-cut :
i do like it, however it took ages to grow on me. i've had a copy since may last year, and it's only been this year that i've really listened to it. but in saying that, it's not as good as let go or the prox. all the songs are kinda the same, and there's no real stand out tracks. let go had inside of love and killian's red, and the proximity effect had 80 windows, but the weight is a gift has no classics.
from fuschiashock :
hey now, it's only very occassionally in french!
from fuschiashock :
yeah :)
from permeation :
word.
from trigger-cut :
Hey Bryan, it's been ages since I've said hello to you. Hope you're well!
from fuschiashock :
or perhaps i just don't make sense to begin with. ha.
from fuschiashock :
that's too bad about the unhelpful prof. you could always transfer here :D
from sleepystorm :
i was thinking about you today. how far from dallas are you? im back in texas in may. / tiff
from fuschiashock :
1. don't believe the hype / 2. geek speak is most definitely a line in my play. a pop up ad sings a little song about it.
from lollygrass :
ahh, huntsville, where they electrocute people. i remember it from road trips when i was at texas state. i hope you make it back here, but at the same time i'd like to get back to texas. part of me does, anyway. tennis pro is playing at neumo's tonight with superdeluxe. i'm not a fan but they have a big draw so yay!
from lollygrass :
howdy! thanks for the song title, i just got it. i have a nice cheesy little compilation for commuting now. thanks for getting into tennis pro! dave eggers loves them, isn't that good endorsement? ha ha. they're playing at neumo's tonight. are you in texas?
from hells-wings :
Okay, here's how ya gotta look at it... Sometimes you just gotta complain about things. Everyone complains about work/school/responsibility, it's human nature right? No matter hoe much you want/need it... it's not a 100% pleasant experience. And having people complain about you complaining seems a little hypocritical to me... But hey... what do I know? Your entry made me think...
from sleepystorm :
i say the same to you, B. x
from fuschiashock :
i don't know, i like college life. there's always stuff to get involved in, like campus radio and free the children and theatre. i have some classes i'm not in love with, but hopefully that aspect will be better next year. the town's tiny, but the university community is great.
from number9dream :
Thanks for the thanks in your New Year's note, though I'm not sure I've left any messages in the past year. Still reading, though. I'm not one to say so, but would love to see more! Best of luck to you in 2006, and I hope things are boding well. Miss Bryan. Love B.
from fuschiashock :
happy birthday (a day late).
from fuschiashock :
sometimes i feel very old indeed.
from fuschiashock :
1. i knew you meant pants with holes, but i thought it was funny anyway. 2. i've never had one, so it's different. i'm eighteen and i never have. how old are you and how many have you had? i don't suppose it really matters so long as the answer isn't zero.
from haufen-mist :
love your diary.. and you're actually using one of my templates, so you rock even more. take care. :)
from clearance :
I had to add You to my favs. Not only that Your writing is great but your name is decemberguy! My old username used to be decemberstar, this might be an inadequately reason to You but it's enough for me. But seriously, Your diary is great, x Mariam.
from fuschiashock :
holy pants?
from fuschiashock :
i know a guy who has a shirt that says my god thinks i'm cool.
from fuschiashock :
PS: good luck getting through the hurricane. i hope you're safe.
from fuschiashock :
i don't know; sometimes being lonely is better than being here with the roommate. thanks for the note.
from fuschiashock :
i haven't listened to sloan in a while and maybe i will.
from fuschiashock :
should i watch it?
from fuschiashock :
let's build an ark just for fun.
from makeitundo :
shhhhh...
from fuschiashock :
you seem to have disappeared.
from fuschiashock :
cold in canada? it was 36 degrees celsius today. (that's somewhere around 96 or 97 fahrenheit.)
from thinkn101 :
I've actually been reading your diary for... well, lets just say, I've read every entry you've written from the start. I just finally deamed it appropriate to show my appreciation for your writings. I'm glad you decided to update; it's always a great read.
from fuschiashock :
the cost of tuition is ridiculous.
from trixiepup :
i've missed your entries too, so i hope you're able to update more. i hardly write here anymore, obviously, but i have a friends-only lj if you want to read that..
from fuschiashock :
i heard the new beck wasn't so great. i'll find out soon enough. i love sea change AND odelay.
from chuzzlewit :
(my sister finds Benicio Del Toro attractive too...)
from chuzzlewit :
Hey, beautiful man, you are special. Gosh, don't be so hard on yourself!
from bonkersquipy :
relationships are funny creatures...they guide you through life...but i would never change these last almost two years...i love my partner more than i love myself sometimes...and i would do anything for her...being with her makes me feel fulfilled...and i am at my happiest when we are together...i can't imagine a better life or person...i am lucky to find this love right now...have such passion for this person...and i wish you the utmost success in the future...i hope you can find a love like mine...because she has become my life and my hope...and i want to better myself because i have her in my life
from fuschiashock :
god is love. - miriam toews
from intheory27 :
Found you randomly on the recently updated list. Well-chosen layout, to be sure, and your words speak volumes, though I only stuck around for a few minutes. I'll be back, I'm sure. (I don't usually use newspaper headline speak...only when I'm sleepy.)
from chuzzlewit :
It's okay, I'd never really top myself. Thanks for your note gorgeous.
from likeaforest :
actually, for awhile i had that very same quote for reality bites on my profile! also, a few years ago (during the peak of the reality bites mania) my roommate and i changed our answering machine to "hello, you've reached the winter of our discontent, leave a message after the beep!" no joke.
from chelsea4k :
Merry Christmas, sensei! Hope you are enjoying your break from school.
from miralogue :
hey, found you by way of gingeryette...we have a lot in common on our profiles, so i read a few entries.... i will be back. hang in there, in college you're supposed to be ridiculously broke. (i just got done last year).
from radio-cure :
Happy Thanksgiving! You should leave me more notes when you're drunk, they are a riot. Cheers, Britt
from radio-cure :
Hi buddy!
from lollygrass :
The biker fox is from Tulsa...maybe that's the problem. I saw the link to his site on David Cross' website. In being the southern baptist I was trying to look like my mom did in the '80s...I have to say I am pretty scary.
from twids :
Why thanks, love! *curtsy* Sounds like things in Texas are rolling right along, eh? :)
from daringtobe :
I love you. And not for the obvious reason of you posting the Replacements song lyrics. (mainly that, but I still like you an awful lot!)
from fuschiashock :
i believe that there is a lot of truth to what you are saying. however, we as nation really means 59 018 939 people. this is 51% of the vote, or if you want to look at in another way, this is about 20% of the united states population of (approximately) 293 027 571. there is also the fact that a country is not an island, particularly one whose administration sticks its nose in everyone else's business. the result of the u.s. election affects everyone, whether or not they are living in the u.s.
from fuschiashock :
i should go listen to my minor threat and fugazi cds...
from obelus :
rar. doesn't staring at a computer screen make you dizzy? ..um
from stripeybeast :
I have you on my profile, and yet, I am not a favorite of yours. Maybe it's because I'm in love with myself...
from krebstick :
you ARE alive! I've missed you! Wee!
from sleepystorm :
whatev. ACL. next weekend! x
from lollygrass :
ohh yeah. Dick's and Sonic are sort of equivelant of each other, except Dick's has better burgers and Sonic has slushes and excellent grilled cheese. I love how Dick's has a painting of a cow behind the counter. Look at what you're about to eat, y'all!
from lollygrass :
Ha ha...I always identified with Sloane asking Cameron "What are you interested in?" "Nothing." "Me either." How's Texas? I miss it. Go to Sonic and have a lemon-berry slush, cause that's what I would do if I were there right now.
from lollygrass :
I do have a test today, that wasn't bullsh**. It's on European Socialism. I mean, really, what's the point? I'm not European. I don't plan on being European. So, who gives a crap if they're Socialists? They could be fascist anarchists, it still wouldn't change the fact that I don't own a car.
from fuschiashock :
the answer to the first question is smog. i've eliminated one by myself. i can't elminate number two by myself.
from fuschiashock :
can you tell me who red apple falls is by? also, what smashing pumpkins songs should i download?
from trigger-cut :
me?? what have i done?? :0)
from twids :
Hey you! Thanks for the encouragement. I hope he comes around, too. :) Sounds like you're off to a roaring start at school! Keep 'em all in line!
from bonkersquipy :
dude glad you are back...i miss talking to you online...let me know what your new name is or whatever...i'm glad things are going pretty well for you...your classes sound pretty interesting to me...anyway...drop me a line sometime...
from sleepystorm :
omg, are you kidding!? of course im going! wilco! what?! im going to see them 3 times in 3 days (again!) . theyre playing at stubbs too! woo! (i love you jeff tweedy!) x
from sleepystorm :
if you go to ACL, turd!, we have to meet up for a drink or something! omg wilco. x
from sleepystorm :
HEY! so youre in texas, and stuff, right? wilco is playing in austin next month. the weekend of the ACL festival. you going? x
from fuschiashock :
i can actually say that i'm currently in the cityfolk category. i love montral.
from purplebanana :
I want to have a summertime party.
from trixiepup :
hey sorry about before...my brother had to do something on my computer and then i thought it would only take a minute or two and it took him a lot longer and by the time i came back you were gone....talk again soon though i hope...
from lollygrass :
When Before Sunrise came out I was at Texas State Univ. and had a professor who knew Richard Linklater so we got extra credit each time we saw the movie. I would have seen it anyway. I was obsessed. I loved the sequel!
from sleepystorm :
i want to go to YOUR parties! x
from lollygrass :
yeah, get it on amazon. it's well worth it for anyone who's into writing.
from lollygrass :
wow, i didn't even know he was on allmusic! have you read his story yet that dave eggers picked for Best American Non-Required Reading 2003? you'd love it.
from trixiepup :
hey if you ever want to talk to me, my MSN name is trixiepup, though it might be under my email address, [email protected].
from sleepystorm :
god, isnt he?! hes a brilliant lyricist! wilco & i have a deep relationship ;) x
from sleepystorm :
i think its just a different album, as have been all of wilco's albums. you know? so obviously not like YHF at all, but thats cause its AGiB. :) i looooove it. i think 'company in my back' is just great! and 'late greats'. wow. and yes, he DOES rock at guitar. its very neil young-esque, huh? x
from sleepystorm :
hey. thoughts on 'a ghost is born'? i love it. love it love it love it. but then again, i would, huh? x
from chelsea4k :
sensei, connor oberst has had it right all along. say it w/me, "i want a lover i don't have to love" - things will get better.
from fuschiashock :
i love johnny rotton. girls suck (yes, i realize the irony in me saying that, but i think you understand what i mean).
from sleepystorm :
hey B..leave your email addy in my notes, and ill set up a pw for you. (it wont be locked for long...) x
from lollygrass :
Gahhh! That Jason Faulkner album is one of my favorites, and NO ONE has ever heard of it! I'm so glad you got it.
from lollygrass :
I love Steve Zahn in Reality Bites so much - my favorite part is when he says in a tard voice: "Lelaina, if we promise to pay you back will you spot us a...pizza?"
from chelsea4k :
buck up sensei! tx ain't no damn dawson's creek (or OC for that matter...) things will turn up, bryan, i promise.
from lollygrass :
Huckleberry Finn is AMAZING! As is David Cross :)
from sleepystorm :
you have more notes than should be allowed. haha. and WHO DO YOU THINK YOURE TALKING TO?! for squirrels! shyeah! :) x
from fuschiashock :
you're listening to an aimee mann song that i don't know, and that is interesting.
from lollygrass :
I hear you about the Good Charlotte twins. That band is horrible.
from sbbabe :
...3 questions, no more no less. How long have you lived in Texas? How old are you? And of course, what do you do as a hobby? -sbbabe
from perfect-line :
just wanted to say, you can feel free to aim me anytime!
from krebstick :
hey dear! haven't been reading the ol' diarylanders in awhile and I see you've come to stressful times! yuck, huh? well, things will always turn sunny in one way or another! And I'm still truckin' over at http://krebstick.mattfantastic.com in case you'd like to have a read! Be good and rock out!
from trixiepup :
i can definitely sympathize with a lot of how you're feeling. i just hope things get better for you..
from lollygrass :
that broke my heart. i have those feelings too sometimes, and i have a lot of anger towards my family. not to say i know how you're feeling, of course i don't. if you ever make it back to seattle i'd like us to be part of your extended family.
from istoba :
I'm sorry you hurt.
from chelsea4k :
sensei, somebody once left me a profound catchphrase in a note... it went a little something like this: when life hands you lemons, squeeze the juice into a water gun and spray it into other people's eyes." - you will "reconnect" soon, i promise.
from versaillers :
Dude...I was born and raised in Groton.
from trigger-cut :
just wanted to let you know that i care
from perfect-line :
history for sale by blue october...i just bought it, but it won't be leaving the cd player anytime soon. actually, i don't know if it's a "new" release, but if you need a really good cd, go buy it!
from trigger-cut :
dear mr december guy, you are so wonderful. i hope you know that
from chuzzlewit :
Hey Decemberguy, reading your last entry makes me feel like I wanna go to the gym and get fit too. It's way about time as well. Take care, have a good week. :)
from trixiepup :
hey, thanks for the note...i hope things go better for you this week..
from versaillers :
No problem, my friend. It happens all the time. Hope to catch you on it again soon
from istoba :
What was the conversation about!
from chuzzlewit :
I don't think I can read your diary anymore, you're just too gorgeous!
from twids :
Heya: Thanks for the note. Yeah, things have been a little nutty. Life moves pretty fast.... Congrats on the new arrival. :) Are you the godfather, at least? (Do you get a pinky ring?) Hee.
from fuschiashock :
i'm listening to america now.
from moonrattles :
Congratulations to Field and FF, and "Satori" is a beautiful name. B.
from daringtobe :
I took that quiz and I was the same song. Its nice to know we are a like.
from lollygrass :
thanks for trying... :)maybe they'll get it in stock soon. the eggers connection should be enough, huh? adrian tomine rawks.
from lollygrass :
i couldn't be too surprised about kurt since he'd attempted suicide a month before. but i was obsessed with layne for years, weird that he had to die for me to find out he lived about eight blocks from me.
from evangeline :
So simple and, yet, not. Sometimes dreams come true, you know. (BK was amazing live. "Sha Sha" is a great song.)
from fuschiashock :
i suppose you'd like more of an anser than that. autumn 2005.
from fuschiashock :
after i graduate from high school.
from versaillers :
Do you really? Ugh, I totally prefer MSN to AIM. [email protected]
from lollygrass :
He IS? That's great...Spin needs all the help it can get.
from lollygrass :
I listened Ash, 'Free All Angels', and I like it. The orchestra and production are good. The lyrics are kinda silly but that's the only thing. Now you do me a favor: go to Hasting's (ha ha) and find 2003 Best American Non-Required Reading edited by Dave Eggers, and read "Things We Knew When The House Caught Fire" by David Drury. I know you'll like it.
from melnew :
Do I know you? Did you once live in Seattle? You like Blur. Damon Albarn is Heaven.
from vintagegrrrl :
"imagine the day Liv Tyler comes to her senses..." and realizes she's GAY.
from evangeline :
I thought of you last weekend when I saw Death Cab and Ben Kweller. It made me want to say hello. So, erm, hello.
from lollygrass :
I've never heard Ash...I'll find them, I haven't heard much British music I don't like.
from perfect-line :
in reply to your note: *aaawwww thank you!*
from lollygrass :
Sondre didn't end up playing last night...but there is a writeup on Nada Surf at threeimaginarygirls.com - you may know that site but they're these 3 girls (duh) who go to shows around Seattle and write about them...they're rad.
from versaillers :
Are you really going to come back home (and I mean Washington) for Bumbershoot? Yay! We definitely need to meet up if you do. The Pixies are so worth coming home for, aren't they?
from fuschiashock :
thanks. maybe i'll download it when i get home.
from lollygrass :
The Kettle! oh that brings back memories from when i was in skool in san marcos...
from chelsea4k :
Congrats on the apt, sensei! You are the ultimate college bachelor now... just don't forget your humble beginnings at dawson's creek
from pasunpipe :
Hey. I was going to let you know I added you. Couldn't tell if your note was sarcastic or not. You should go to Hayden. Or wait until Belle and Sebastian go out to Seattle. Or go to coachalla (sp?).
from trigger-cut :
if i didn't have so many school commitments at the time, i totally would have paid more than 500 dollars to see nada surf more than i did when they were out here. i say go for it man
from istoba :
Yours are good. I like 'Tidy Taxi' especially if the sound were multi-genreic, but not in that crappy way, in a mind-blowing way.
from moonrattles :
You can't really say any one thing that will convice a girl of it, but if she's been reading your journal or speaking with you for a while, she will know that you will make a good husband. It's in the things you notice, the way you put your words together. You drive it home when you say, "All this week, while my peers are chasing Coronas with tequila shots..I'm dedicating my time to becoming a better Bryan". You are a good man, B. I know the concept of marriage is frightening, even from far off, but I think you would be excellent at it with the right girl (that makes all the difference). I am all too lucky to be the right girl with the right man right now. Marriage still scares me, too, but I can see how it will work. It seems to work a lot better than the people we know. I'm babbling. Good people make good marriages, and you're good people. B.
from istoba :
Frikkin A, tell me about it! The nice thing is, that after only 2 girls pulling that "... you're a nice guy, but..." bullshit, I totally transcended that. They have no idea what they're missing. Not only am I the nicest guy, I'm friggin awesome. They may look attractive, they may even be smart (to some subjective degree), but if they're incapable of "wanting", yes "wanting" a relationship with such an awesome person, they're just plain stupid. Awesomeness assists you in recognizing stupidity. My first reaction is to sympathize, and I do, but then I can that and withdraw my projected attraction; I realize I'm the only one capable of endowing this girl with such sanctified vision of possibility that she might be even able to have a relationship with me. And if she can't match that awareness, that's ok. I wouldn't say she loses anything, but she certainly misses out. The fun part is that she doesn't usually know that. But you do. And you can't impart that information to her, it's a beautiful secret. Continue being awesome. Be her best friend. Ridicule her lack of awareness. See if you can wake her up, not to the possibility of you and her, but of the actuality of you and not her! Love her undividedly, as you love everyone and life, and you will attract that love. Maybe not in physical form (at first), but spiritually, and all the best feelings are at the spiritual level. Except massages, and yet, massages. Cheers
from sinnergi :
come to colorado next week. it's my spring break...we'll party you can find yourself. Haha. It SOUNDED good, at least.
from moonrattles :
Mouth hanging open, weird sounds. I spat some of it out at Jake. Ack! I...don't think it sat well. If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go vomit in disgust.
from sinnergi :
yeah, I'd have to agree with you. Every single day I'm amazed at some of the things that the republican party spits out. Sure, the dems say some stupid stuff do, they're not exempt...but there tends to be such a feeling of hate, of unacceptance in the republican party that it scares me.
from sinnergi :
I got that emailed me today...and I was absolutely amazed. Ann Coulter is plain evil. I can't believe the comment about Tim McVeigh. Honestly, I consider myself a strong democrat...and all that implies. But, even with all my political experience and my sometimes negative attitude toward republicans, I was absolutely appalled at some of those comments.
from daringtobe :
I like how sweet you are....you will make some girl a fine husband.
from sleepystorm :
so huntsville isnt far from dallas, hick. x
from lollygrass :
thanks, i appreciate it...
from vintagegrrrl :
http://www.livejournal.com/users/theegirlracer/ you have to be on my friends list to read the good stuff tho... you gonna get an lj???
from versaillers :
You like my new template, eh? That wouldn't have anything to do with the fact there's a naked girl on it, would it? Haha, I kid. It's good to hear from you again
from sinnergi :
It's not The Polyphonic Spree, it's the Polyphonic Cult ;) Haha. Teasing...I saw them at Bonnaroo last summer, definitely interesting. I think you'd enjoy Bonnaroo, actually, with your love of music and all. We're going again this summer, you should check it out...website is www.bonnaroo.com
from rapunzal :
It's amazing what a difference a year can make :-)
from evangeline :
Umm, really? Peacocks and stuff?
from chelsea4k :
loved chatting w/you the other night, sensei... it must happen more often.
from trigger-cut :
yeah i'm great. i changed diaried, this is me now. <33 kred
from sleepystorm :
woo. wilco. all wilco songs rock my socks off. you know, jeff tweedy has a book of poetry coming out soon..should be an interesting read. he writes such amazing lyrics. x
from moonrattles :
Thank your for your note. Triplets was a very enjoyable and engrossing movie; you should see it if you get a chance. I never did comment on two things I wanted to comment on: First (and I know you don't want to hear anything nasty about your thoughts on gay marriage, but I'm not trying to be nasty). I think that a seperate-but-not-quite-equal decision on this (such as civil unions) is unfair and a matter of civil rights. They could offer the same benefits as marriage, but what if we had a different word for the union between "married" black people or their right to vote. That's not really fair, is it? It sets them apart. Again, I'm not in disagreement with you, I understand that you were simply asking a question. Also, I thought you were right on about Jesus. I'm not a Christian or even religious in any recognizable way, but I think the Jeebus was a great man, one in many lifetimes, and he had a lot of good ideas. I applaud your view and your courage to state it. and that's all. Thanks again. B.
from istoba :
The great thing about love is, even if you're old and cynical, and afflicted with any other of innumerable conceivable anguished perspectives on life, love would just sweep them into nothingness. And that you gotta be grateful for. And grateful to the extent that you match the experience of love. And that's just love on top of love. Which is great!
from evangeline :
Drew Barrymore is hot. And. Which do you like better - Smashing Pumpkins or Zwan? I mean, they're two different things, but tell me what you think about it.
from grischa :
Sorry you've been getting some nasty notes in your notebook recently. Nasty notes always bring me down, when I get them. Still, it looks like you get lots of nice notes as well. It looks like you have lots of fans! (me included)
from evangeline :
I think you should put songs that you think I need to hear on there. So I guess I'm interested in some of your favorite songs. A lot of the time, that's what my mixes end up being...
from lollygrass :
actually, dick's on 45th...the broadway one is always busy too huh...
from fuschiashock :
a tv show is definitely not a good way to judge homosexuality. i don't view my sexuality as the whole of my existence, nor do any of my friends, gay, straight or bisexual.
from istoba :
You're welcome! Remember - 7 listens. It'll grow.
from fuschiashock :
i wouldn't describe it as a lifestlye, either. a lifestly is something you choose. your sexuality isn't. people don't just wake up one day and decide to be gay. if that was the case, no one would be gay.
from fuschiashock :
how is legalizing gay marriage pushing beliefs on the religious community? it's only giving a minority group the rights they deserve. marriage is a legal institution and it was not created by the church. marriage has existed long before the church. ever hear of separation of church and state? banning gay marriage is an example of the religious community pushing beliefs on gays, not the other way around. i'm not saying that churches should be forced to marry gay couples, but that would never happen anyway. churches already have the right to refuse to marry any couple on whatever grounds they please.
from evangeline :
I am, too, you know. Bipolar. You can totally tell, I'm sure. Like, within my last three entries. *grin*
from fuschiashock :
marriage is a legal institution. it can be religious, but it was not created by the church. when it was created it was more of a financial agreement between two people than anything. civil unions give certain rights, but less so than marriages. &even if civil unions were changed so that they granted the same rights as marriages, is separate but equal really fair? (for example, should blacks be educated separately from whites?)
from perfect-line :
i may be wrong about this but here it goes...marriage IS legal as well as religious if you want it to be religious. marriage legally binds you together and ya get the official document and any benefits of being married. civil unions are more like...ya do the whole wedding thing without the legality. you make a pledge to each other, but when it comes to benefits of being married, such as medical coverage...etc. well your screwed because it was never a legal marriage. yeah...think i've got that right. and if we are really going for the whole "seperation of church and state" than you might as well legalize gay marriages. churches still won't let them be married within the church anyway...and this is way too long.
from mydyingbeta :
thanks for the before sunset info!
from madelaine :
thanks!
from mydyingbeta :
A sequel to Before Sunrise???? That made my heart skip a beat! Please please give me details! Richard Linklater is my favorite director. You have such fabulous taste. =) Oh, and go David Bowie - I've been listening to "Under Pressure" alot lately - and Polyphonic Spree is a pretty nifty band. You rock!
from fuschiashock :
i didn't even know there was a new bran van 3000 cd. i'm glad you mentioned it.
from fuschiashock :
&what about all the candidates who split the republican vote?
from versaillers :
Oh my god, make no mistake about it, I'm not a fan of Raplh Nader, either! I guess the "Kerry and Bush make me Ralph" didn't show that...I just like the pun. I fully intend to vote for Kerry or whomever else wins the democratic ticket, make no mistake about that. That's why the title of my entry was "Stop the Ticket Splitting!" Yep, yep. Though, that note wasn't entirely too scathing. You should've used more four-letter words.
from chelsea4k :
yes, you need to get an apartment so you can spend copious amounts of time on aim shooting the shit w/me. sorry about the fight w/your mother, maybe she will buy you some lottery tickets to make up for it :)
from perfect-line :
yep, some people are not cut out to be parents. luckily, i've already discovered this. i mean...babies and kids...eh, they are fun when you can be the "favorite" aunt or uncle, but who really want all the dirty work? nah not me!
from fuschiashock :
but alas, the store is out of so good, except for plain. plain is gross.
from fuschiashock :
milk... i suppose this is with coke? personally, i prefer so good.
from versaillers :
Congratulations! A's are a precious commodity these days. And come on, I know you miss the rain! Actually, WA has been randomly sunny at times, though it's still a bit cold.
from evangeline :
I tried to send an email to [email protected] and it didn't work and that makes me sad. So. Email me at [email protected] and I'll email you back with the word, yo. (P.S. Huzzah!)
from fuschiashock :
i've met people from ethiopa and lebanon, but not chad. i wonder why. perhaps it's not as horrible there as it is in other places so everyone doesn't leave. maybe i'll never know. i'm sure i'll never get there.
from grischa :
Note to your kid brother: My favourite pokemon character is Psyduck. Hope you are having some fun! Love Chuzzlewit
from anightwisp :
Yes, what a difference a year can make. I really wish I could find some of the music you list on your page some of the titles really have me curious..
from lookin4liz :
I agree with the problem of "convenience." I was just thinking of how lazy we've all been able to become, because of that one word. Hmmm...now you've got me thinking. :) Oh, and I really like the layout. Cheers! ~Liz
from mydyingbeta :
Oooh, I haven't seen that Yeah Yeah Yeahs video, I never watch MTV - but maybe I can download it. I'm going to see them play in Madison this March! Woo. Karen O is so kick ass.
from painted-fish :
Thank you Bryan... my celebrity crush is... you'll find it to be silly, maybe... Jack Black
from perfect-line :
in response to your note...huh? oh and your older entries still don't work. :-( poor me! lol
from trixiepup :
hey, i like nurse abby and the bewitched lady as well, if it makes you feel any better. and i get grief too for not having more "mainstream" (i.e. normal) male and female celebrity crushes...
from mestupchick :
*sigh* i also crush on norah jones. she is spectacular. as for the "too much geek" of adoring fight club and the pixies and so on....the feeling in mutual...and can there really ever be enough geek? (alana)
from mestupchick :
i for one, would be intensely flattered. (alana)
from versaillers :
Damn it! Your precious Kerry is sweeping this thing. I would say "Let the best candidate win," but Dean isn't, so I won't. Looks like I'll have to adjust to Kerry if Dean looses Wisonsin.
from mestupchick :
mmmmm. your words never fail to make me smile. (alana)
from versaillers :
Oh, my fav candy heart is "Fax Me." What third grader knows how to use a fax machine? And what exactly are you suppose to fax? Well, my boyfriend and I just broke up today so I'm Valentine-less, too. Damn holiday. Love is a four letter word. --Britt
from fuschiashock :
let's abolish valentine's day until we get girlfriends.
from sinnergi :
I feel your pain, m'dear.
from istoba :
halle-fuckin-lujah!
from evangeline :
ACK! I was looking at my notes page and suddenly, "Is It Wicked Not To Care" got stuck right inside my head. I guess it wasn't really "suddenly", though, as much as planted. *grin*
from killiansred :
hey bryan, thanks for the note. when i read it, i couldn't help but think "praise from ceaser." i don't know if that's quite the case, but i do think very, very highly of you. hope you are super well
from painted-fish :
I meant how people relate but I think you got that....
from painted-fish :
Hey Bryan... I happy you still read my site. As I do yours..... funny have people can relate.... with out knowing each other.
from lollygrass :
Aww yeah...love the 'Alright' video...they're wearing the wrong names on their shirts, all that. They've never made a bad video, they have such good taste in everything, I just heart them!
from evangeline :
Oooh, that is indeed a tasty mixtape surprise. Seriously. Should you ever want to trade, look me up, yo.
from evangeline :
Meh. At one time I dyed my hair brown and bought fake glasses just because Lisa Loeb is so tasty and I wanted to capture some of that indie rock chick goodness, but the roots will always tell on you...
from fuschiashock :
mmm lisa loeb...
from chelsea4k :
thanks for the note sensei. i miss our aol chats too! i guess you're just a busy college man too cool for me now :) good luck w/the lady friend.
from versaillers :
Visqueen and United States of Electronica. It won't be a bad show, I think. How are you doing? How's life? Miss B'Town yet?
from intheory27 :
Hey, you have no idea who I am and that's quite alright. Your latest entry is wonderful, truly. I'm studying in England this semester, 3000 miles from home and adaptation, even in small amounts somehow still amazes me. So thank you for such pertinent, well-written words. :)
from fuschiashock :
(according to beliefnet.com, i'm a unitarian universalist - whatever that is. quaker was third on the list.)
from fuschiashock :
i like the new layout. black and white is beautiful.
from lollygrass :
thanks for liking the entry. it's not about religion though (that word sort of makes my skin crawl), it's about knowing who you are and who God is. read the Bible and if you don't understand it that's okay, and if it makes you mad that's okay too, tell God all about it. that's the main thing...at least as best as i can tell.
from evangeline :
Umm. Tough question. I think my three favorite Belle & Sebastian songs are "Get Me Away From Here, I'm Dying", "Jonathan David" and "Beautiful". But tomorrow it might be the first song and two other completely different ones. I mean, "Get Me Away From Here, I'm Dying" is a solid favorite. But it changes here and there. I like "Photo Jenny" and "Women's Realm" and "Expectations" and...yeah. Can't make up my mind, as usual.
from trixiepup :
Hey, I like the new layout, but I too am html illiterate, so I hope that someone can help you figure out your issues. And I'm also happy to hear you know of (and like) Dressy Bessy. I just started getting into indie music a few months ago and only one of my friends know who any of the bands are.
from anightwisp :
BRYAN Try adding this Under a heading of sorts ARCHIVES, THE PAST etc., <BR> <A HREF="older.html">OLDER</A><BR> somewhere in your new template that SHOULD list all your archives on one page. The previous and next button work just fine.. BTW, I really like the new template.. it is much easier to read..=)
from mydyingbeta :
Your entry on regret really touched me - I don't think there's anything weird about feeling so strongly about someone who seemed not to play such a huge part in your life, because if you feel that strongly about it, then they did. Plus, thinking of someone like that brings back memories which would otherwise be forgotten. Sometimes a 3 week relationship with someone can take 3 years to get over, the same goes with friendship - the human heart is something difficult to understand. I completely identify with what you were saying about how you used to be introverted - I'm introverted by nature, but over the years have trained myself to be extroverted - you seem like such a social person, though, so it surprised me that you were like that before - I suppose a mixture is nice. I still think of this one childhood friend alot, and saw his parents at the theatre while I was in Houston - it brought back alot of things I wanted to remember, but some I didn't. Life is just like that, I guess. Who knows, maybe you will run into this girl or hear of her whereabouts? Anyway I like the new look to your diary, that Weezer song is one of my favorites. Rock on!
from perfect-line :
hey, i'm just leaving a note to say your older entries page isn't working...since i really wanted to start reading from the beginning and all!
from daringtobe :
hey..just wanted to let you know that I have learned alot by reading your diary...you have opened my mind to different artists and I talk about you and your diary entries frequently with my little brother. We can relate to you and how you feel. Hang in there!
from moonrattles :
It must be very difficult resettling in a familiar place populated by unfamiliar people. I hope things start looking up for you.
from versaillers :
May I be so bold as to ask *why* you're endorsing Kerry? I have nothing against him, personally...I just think he's a bit lackluster. Not that most of the other ones aren't. I'm disappointed that Braun quit- she did so well in the WA D.C. caucus...though it doesn't count for anything. Any ways, thanks for the note!
from grischa :
Hey, that's really cool that you are starting at a new college. I must be a nerd, but I love starting new classes, it's kind of exciting... yep, definitely a nerd. Anyway, I hope that you enjoy the experience and meet some cool people as well. (and get some good lecturers)
from evangeline :
I am going to go sit in a classroom for the first time in five years in twelve hours. Approximately, but almost exactly twelve hours. I wasn't nervous until I read your entry and realized that. Eek.
from mydyingbeta :
it sounds like you are doing absolutely awesome! go bryan! there is absolutely NOTHING WRONG with living with the folks - plus, the older you get, the more they're like friends and not really parents - it's weird. anywayz goodluck with school - enjoy not being in the army! you're too much of an individual for that - oh, and yay for the ween lyric!
from mydyingbeta :
don't you love it when people try to convince you that the corporate life/american dream FALSEHOOD is the way to go. that doctor is probably jealous of what you have.
from twids :
a) Thanks for the note...I think I'm on the upswing from the self-pity-shame-spiral (keep your fingers crossed) :) b) Dude, do you live in Huntsville?? My first boyfriend ever lived in Huntsville, TX. I met him at summer camp in the CA mountains...yeow, was he a hottie. :) He had this super faint lil' drawl that made me weak in my lil' 9th grade knees, I'll tell you what...anywho, just thought that was neato, since every time I'd tell someone he was from Huntsville, TX, they'd always tell me I was wrong, that Huntsville is in TN...blarg. c) Happy New Year, Darlin'! Thanks for bein' a pal and always having a kind word. :)
from fuschiashock :
love and hate are for tv people? i disagree.
from istoba :
Happy 2004 to you too. Are you back permanantly in Texas? I'm glad you're out of the navy! Even though I don't like them, I've thought of joining some 'governmental force', just for the sake of experience. It's all about experience, and ing. Cheers
from versaillers :
Happy (belated) birthday! I hope it's not disappointing. Washington misses you! The thing about your brother and his dancing hamster cracked me up...my little brother used to be the same way...
from evangeline :
You like Matthew Sweet and B&S and you told me I'm interesting. *flutter* Last minute family stuff calls, but I can't wait to delve here.
from moonrattles :
Just wanted to tell you Happy Birthday! Sounds like you had an eventful holiday. Something else I wanted to say...what was it? Damn.
from killiansred :
happy birthday gorgeous!!
from krebstick :
Happy Birthday! And Merry Late Christmas! The boyfriend got an X-box as well. I'm not too keen on it though. Smooches and the like.
from versaillers :
Ah! Thank you very, very much. I hope you had a great XMess, too. :)
from killiansred :
merry christmas !! hope it's a good one
from lollygrass :
yeah, culture shock is in full effect...i'm sort of dying to get back to seattle. hope it goes well where you are!
from sleepystorm :
hey! thanks. merry christmas to you, too. hope it feels more like winter where you are. its 69 here today. x
from daringtobe :
Merry Christmas back! I love the Paul DVD...let me know what you think about it....
from vintagegrrrl :
woo! glad you seem ok with being back in texas, i am jealous of the tramp-o-line!!!
from versaillers :
According to logic, the next step after finding a good band name is to actually start a band. Hmm. That probably won't happen anytime soon. But hey, at least we have cool band names
from versaillers :
I know, I know...pathetic, eh? I was very very close to buying the first season of the Anna Nicole Smith show...I have horrible taste in television...I watch FOX voluntarily...
from sleepystorm :
hey hon .. which entry did you like in particular? i added a few. :) anyhoo, yes ... thats an amazing album, isnt it!? i think this time of year, regardless of where you are, tweedy's voice is just something that soothes the soul. calls to you when its cold. its perfect. x
from sinnergi :
good luck! when you're making such a big change in your life, it's hard not to look back on the past. But reflect, don't regret. You're gonna do great!
from perfect-line :
hey, cool diary! um yeah...it's just cool and that's all i really have to say...hmph
from grischa :
Good luck with all the work you have to do over the next few days. I mean, I hope that it all goes smoothly. I kind of feel jealous of you. I love those times, big changes and moving and stuff. I always found that part of life exciting. I hope you are finding it exciting and not stressful. Love you lots, Chuzzlewit
from anightwisp :
I am trying hard to get a sample of the music you listen to off the net.. so far no luck with any band I haven't listen to before....
from anightwisp :
You are welcome. =) I have been looking though your archives .. However, I can't access your them except through the previous entry link at the bottom of each page... is that just my computer acting up?
from plume :
Maybe I can just send a check to James instead?
from versaillers :
Touche, I did leave, too. And I haven't really looked back since, either. Bremerton was good for growing up, but I've moved on to bigger and better things and apparently, so are you.
from versaillers :
You can't leave! Bremerton is so lame as it is...
from fuschiashock :
hey yourself.
from killiansred :
there's a cute boy i talk to on the inter-net from sc, that's all. as for seattle, it's always fascinated me. but sydney suits me just fine. thanks for your notes :0) i'm glad that you read my diary because i enjoy yours so much
from madelaine :
hey, back at you! and happy turkey day if i don't talk to you before!
from grischa :
Hey, one other thing you can say you are good at is writing diary entries that are interesting and keep the readers interest. I love reading your diary! You sound like such a cool person and I think you will make a great husband and father. :) Seb's spots keep appearing. He went to the doctors and the doctor didn't seem very impressed, I think he thought they were just mosquito bites. It could be spiders, because there are spiders everywhere out here. We have lots in the backyard. xoxo Chuzzlewit
from sleepystorm :
..so this morning, on my way to work, i pulled out one of the tapes you sent to me. badly drawn boy, elliott smith, sonic youth, the doves, sdre ... i love that tape. x
from daringtobe :
Man, I would marry you right now if I wasn't already. You are one hell of man decemberguy.
from versaillers :
I'm sure every mother loves that joke. It never gets old
from sinnergi :
as corny as this is going to sound--get involved in the university. that's the way that I've built a sense of community for myself here. I came to school 9 hours away from home not knowing anyone--and because I've gotten involved in different things, I've met awesome places and created a sense of community for myself. So, it sounds cliche, but it's totally true! that's my advice for ya. good luck!
from plume :
Indeed. There is something very moving about it I think. Parts of it just hits home very hard.
from twids :
Why thank you, lovey! Cheers. :)
from sinnergi :
and then, you mentioned your likeness to john mayer...and became about 15x more adorable. his music totally moves me.(I've been a mayer fan for so long it hurts...way back into the acoustic stuff, way before he was played on the radio)
from sinnergi :
I think you are so dang adorable and I'm not quite sure why!
from versaillers :
I know. It was almost too cute. Well, too cute for me to deserve
from fuschiashock :
i like the layout.
from versaillers :
You do?! My word you are about as awesome as they come! I'm enjoying Klosterman's book and I'm excited that someone else has heard of him and his works. That's just great
from sinnergi :
ack! guster! hehehe 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...from the barrel of a gun. Crap I've seen them in concert WAY too many times! (they opened for John Mayer last summer)
from madelaine :
sorry for the delay, but i've not been in at a computer for more than ten minutes in the last few days except to write, write, write research papers. so here 'tis: CONGRATS! 'course, i knew you would get in. also, the book is great, laugh-out-loud funny; thanks!
from vintagegrrrl :
woooohoooo! congrats! sorry i've been MIA around d-land lately...
from versaillers :
Way to go Bryan! That's awesome
from daringtobe :
I bet you make a cute school girl! Congrats!
from moonrattles :
congratulations!
from trixiepup :
congrats on the acceptance! hope it works out well and that it's all you want it to be...
from killiansred :
congratulations! i'm super happy for you
from madelaine :
glad you made it back all safe and sound.
from sleepystorm :
looooove the new layout, btw. x
from karmacops :
thanks for an entertaining read. i hope that's an ok word to use...its meant in the nicest way - oh jeez, I'm thinking too much again. "i can't wait....hardly wait...I can't wait....hardly wait"... bless Pauly W...and the Mats...*sigh*
from grischa :
Thanks for your note. I forgot about Frente! Now I feel like listening to their music again, but I gave my frente album away. Perhaps I could find it at a second hand LP store. That's cool, you're going travelling. I'm a bit jealous. I love going to see new places. Hope you are doing well. Love you lots, Chuzzlewit
from versaillers :
Haha, okay, you're the exception. Have a fun, safe trip
from versaillers :
Ack! Not another moderate democrat...bleecch! It's really all about Mr. Howard Dean. Kucinich just fascinates me...
from sinnergi :
thanks hon!
from versaillers :
Your dreams are utterly hilarious! My god. Maybe you aren't going through a "what does it all mean" thing and you just really like John Cusack (Both a Say Anything and High Fidelity allusion in one entry? Hmmm...) :)
from madelaine :
unlike your other readers, i missed you not in the least, MC wonderbread; nope, not at all. however, please email and/or call sometime within the next few days, and let me know your travel plans. bonk can't drive to DC (car problems), so i need your info so jamie and i can be there. also, what about henry? sorry, i'm anal retentive and i worry about these kinds of things. anyway, get back to me. signed, your friend elaine in the godforsaken backwater hellhole ;)
from krebstick :
I missed you!
from versaillers :
Haha, thanks. The remarkable thing about those pictures is they were both taken in a moving vehicle...I was quite shocked my self that "B-Town" could ever look so amazing. Maybe the camera sees something I don't. Thanks for the congrats about the significant other...no one else noticed!
from daringtobe :
I missed you too!
from versaillers :
I missed you!
from twids :
ooooo, Counting Blue Cars...good one! I had forgotten how annoying that damned ditty got after the four meelionth time played on the radio.... Nice work! :)
from grischa :
Thanks for the nice note. Yep, everything is shiney here. I like your new layout. It reminds me of my childhood. We were always going on driving holidays back then.
from killiansred :
hey, i love the new layout. it definitely suits your style
from painted-fish :
hi...
from madelaine :
wassup, back at you. less than two weeks!
from krebstick :
oooh. I love the new layout. It makes me feel all woodlandy. P.S. Didja get my email? Ta-ta!
from krebstick :
Eek. I tried to email you, but hotmail just wouldn't have it. Do you have another email address besides the diaryland one? Lemme know!
from daringtobe :
Just saying hey...and I hope work gets better for you...liked the "burrito" note...I am starting to think the cleaning crew did take it...
from madelaine :
"oh, he's so handsome, just like his reward posters..."
from madelaine :
okay, so when we're both back in texas, we'll meet up and a centrally located bennigan's, and have that sandwich. i was hooked at the red raspberry dipping sauce...mmmm!
from sleepystorm :
"southern gothic" ... that gives me one of the funniest images in quite some time, y'know? ;)i'll have to check it out. x
from sleepystorm :
no,i havent seen that. why do you think i'd adore it. i mean, i trust your judgment & all .. just curious :) x
from versaillers :
My Morning Jacket It Still Moves? Great record. Death to the Pixies...that's just a collection of songs, right? Like a Best of...?
from mydyingbeta :
i've heard of that cluck klosterman book and always wanted to check it out - and since you reccomend it, i just might! yes, nada surf put on a fabulous show, with 2 encores, (true ones, not fake ones,) the last encore was "bacardi" which was my favorite moment of the entire show - i was a little on the drunk side. =)
from bonkersquipy :
thats fine with me as long as you make it kind of late afternoon...early evening...because it takes about 4 hours to get to dulles...especially on tuesday the 11th i have class until 12 so it would have to be like a 7 oclock flight...anyway i hope this helped...talk to you later...lindsey
from margeeolio :
thank you thank you :)
from sleepystorm :
thank you B. thank you. x
from mydyingbeta :
i saw nada surf last night - made me think of you!
from versaillers :
I'm just happy you're back...though four days doesn't seem like such a long time. Oh well, I missed your updates any ways. -Vers
from daringtobe :
You are so lucky! Dressy Bessy! Please put an entry in when you get back from the concert with a review!
from madelaine :
hola, decemberguy! i emailed you re: the last note you left me, but then the thought crossed my mind that you might not check your a o hell account. if you're using another email address, lemme know! eleahy at hollins dot edu.
from daringtobe :
I have to agree...you are almost too cool to be real...I hope I haven't imagined you and your diary.
from killiansred :
you know what? you are the coolest kid on the diaryland block
from mydyingbeta :
ah bryan, i see you were quoting the fugazi! you rock.
from madelaine :
so, when you visit lindsey and me at hollins, we'll have to go to special collections in the library one day at look at the facsimilies of the first edition blakes (the ones he and his wife printed). they are, in a word, breathtaking. see, now you HAVE to visit. -elaine
from versaillers :
I'm quite the revolutionary, eh?
from trixiepup :
Hey, as you know I had my wisdom teeth pulled last year. As long as they aren't impacted it's not too too bad, but if they are, I'm sorry for ya. But it's okay cuz they dope you up good for the procedure and give you lots of pain meds for after...Hope all goes well with it..
from daringtobe :
I hope you feel better soon and all goes well with the dentist. You seem like such a nice guy.
from bonkersquipy :
hey there bryan...thanks for the note..i've been a little down lately but i'm getting better...i hope things are going well for you...you need to get your aim back so that we can have real time conversations over aim...that would be super duper fun...anyway...hope to talk to you soon..by the way...fall formal is november 6th if you are still trying to decide when to come visit...later dude...
from versaillers :
Hope you get better soon
from madelaine :
ooh, tell me what you think of 'hey nostradamus' after you finish. i read it this summer, and really enjoyed it...i read it in two days, uttlery devoured it. (although i did prefer michel faber's 'under the skin'...it's fantastic in every way). and you need AIM back, so i can have fun distractions when i'm writer's-blocked in the computer lab (i'm so selfish). also, what would one put on a mix CD/tape for decemberguy, the guy who has practically everything already? hope your days are well, and that you feel better soon. -elaine
from chelsea4k :
I received the cds today! I'm so excited to spend some quality time w/them... Your cd will (hopefully) be mailed Wednesday. thanks again!
from grischa :
You are funky, babe. Hope your mood picks up soon. Sending you some sunshine from down south. Love Chuzzlewit xoxo
from versaillers :
"Kidnap County?" You are too damn funny
from sinnergi :
Colgate is definitely a good sign! ;)
from krebstick :
Belle and Sebastian have a new CD?! Why am I always the last to know? Cripe.
from sinnergi :
Too bad Washington isn't geographically close to Kansas, otherwise, I could try and help you fulfill some of those. ;)
from moonrattles :
This is a good list. You should know that many someones will likely miss you, but probably not the folks you think. I had this cool customer, Anthony, who would talk to me about books over the LaMarzocca while I made his double-tall mocha. We never got too personal, but seeing him always made my day before he moved to Denton. It's a good thing about living. Or one of the many small things that make living good, I guess I mean. B.
from versaillers :
Good luck with finding someone in Washington who isn't shady! But I can help you with your list cos I know I'm going to miss you and reading about your adventures in B-Town and the like. It's nice knowing someone has similar feelings/opinions so close to my home. :(
from daringtobe :
Wow...thanks for the info on Paul....I like Kathleen Edwards..her vocals remind me alot of Lucinda Williams and her CD Failer is pretty good. At least I think it is. I took a listen to the Dandy Warhols since one of your diary entries said how good the CD was. I am going to have to buy it now. You have quite an eclectic taste in music.
from moonrattles :
Thank you for sharing the poem.
from chelsea4k :
i'm so excited for the cds!! as soon as i get the correct coaguation of songs, i will drop my sensei's cd in the mail. PS: aim is a lonely place w/o you...
from madelaine :
silly, i knew that. i was just teasin'.
from daringtobe :
I heard Paul Westerberg is coming out with a new CD...a tad more bluesy then his others. Have you heard anything? And have you heard of Kathleen Edwards?
from madelaine :
so the supposedly bad ass hurricane isabel, in roanoke at least, was nothing more than about twelve hours or so of drizzle. no thunder, no lightning. just steady drops of rain with the occasional gust of wind. the wind was strong, but sooooo not as bad as expected. also, AHEM, i said, and i quote, "decemberguy is funny when you talk to him on the phone. (not, you know, that you're not funny otherwise, bryan.)" now, i said you're funny, not that you sound funny. what's this "sounding funny" business in your diary, eh? pshaw. anyway, off to do my homework for my class that starts in, oh, fifty-seven minutes. later! -e
from versaillers :
I love that song- the first verse or whatnot that ends with "and became famous on that day in November" is just a great rhyming scheme. I didn't know how much I was going to like them when I bought the CD, but I'm quite taken with most of the LP. "Such Great Heights" and "Nothing Better" are cute, too.
from versaillers :
Ben Gibbard is from B-town?! I didn't know that. That's trippy b/c I've been listening to a lot of Postal Service lately. Whoa.
from versaillers :
Yay! You're back!
from daringtobe :
I can't wait for you to come back. I like your entries.
from chuzzlewit :
I'll miss your entries while you are away, but have fun on your holiday. :)
from fuschiashock :
it saddens me that you no longer have a link here from your diary.
from painted-fish :
hope you have fun
from versaillers :
As much as I hate saying this, you know that Saturn Ion commercial where it ends "Now Leaving Childhood?" That song in the background is the Walkmen. They are really good- the singer has an incredible voice and the songs are all damn wonderful. At least I think.
from versaillers :
You can't leave the Puget Sound! Oh, that is the saddest thing I've heard/read all week. By the way, how is the new B&S? I've always meant to get into that band, but have yet to actively do so.
from chuzzlewit :
Good Luck!
from trixiepup :
thanks for the well wishing. i've never seen grosse point blank so i can't say anything about it. gl with the quitting smoking--it's hard i know--i quit almost 3 years ago, but it was one of the best things i ever did. it's hard at first, but it eventually gets easier.
from madelaine :
you just made my day. even this early, at 8.20 am. because my decidedly not-cool ass is sitting in a computer lab on a sunday morning writing a french paper. oh, damn, i'm such a nerd. (but you rock, too!)
from mydyingbeta :
yeah i saw cold live and thought they sucked too, they aren't that great. but wilco? ah am i ever jealous of you!
from madelaine :
decemberguy, it's elaine and lindsey. we want your hot body (or something like that, wink wink), and we need your "digits, homes". email one or the both of us so we (read: lindsey) can call you and bug you all day and all night. you know you wanna. ;)
from bonkersquipy :
bryan bryan...i'm missing you so...you are never online anymore and i dont get to talk to you...you have to come and visit...you should come for one of our dances so i could actually have a date and dance with someone...that would be fab...anyway...hope things are going well...and that i'll hear from you soon...
from madelaine :
mhmmm, you've gotta come to roanoke. or, um...or else! yeah, that's it! (i am just so badass. and "hey!" backatcha!)
from bonkersquipy :
yeah bryan...you have to come visit...it would be so much fun to sit in at the coffee shop and watch all the interesting roa-joke people...anyway..i would be a total blast...hopefully someday before i graduate you can come out and we can chill...besides you're like one of the coolest people i know...
from daringtobe :
I like how you think.
from sinnergi :
hey, thanks! :) I really appreciate the kind words. Good luck with the leaving-the-navy thing. You're gonna do awesome.
from fuschiashock :
It seems to be that a lot of guys think girls=good, so girl+girl=even better, however, I have never met a girl who thought that way about guys. There are lots of people who buy their records, but there are plenty of people who sell records and don't do that kind of thing.
from mydyingbeta :
amen amen amen!!!!! you couldn't sum up the female pop star thing better! =)
from sleepystorm :
thanks bryan!! x
from mydyingbeta :
man, i am so happy for you! i wish you the best bryan!!!
from vintagegrrrl :
yay! horray! woohoo!
from madelaine :
congratulations, bryan!
from fuschiashock :
it's only my opinion, but i think you made the right decision.
from fuschiashock :
yay for pavement.
from killiansred :
ahh, long story. but i've emailed you the username/password so everything is apples again :0)
from versaillers :
At least I can leave "B-Town" knowing there's at least one thoughtful person in this town. Thanks for the note. Thank you very, very much.
from chuzzlewit :
'Course you'll find your gold, you deserve it more than most people I know. :)
from versaillers :
The problem is, it's just one ticket, because my sister is crippled herself (she broke her foot) and so she HAS to sit in the 200 level and I am a Radiohead freak, so I HAVE to be in the pit, so I gave her boyfriend the other seated ticket (even though he hates Radiohead and mocks Thom Yorke) and so I just have ONE pit ticket to sell. If you are still interested after hearing that, you can just reply back. Thanks Bryan
from twids :
Davis is getting the boot because CA Republicans are bitter assholes. Georgy is cute until you realize that all her merchandise says, "Georgy for 2004". Yeah, the election is in 2003, moron. My vote is with Larry Flynt, "The Smut Peddler With a Heart."
from killiansred :
i have often dreamed about being the subject of a nada surf song. : ) ps: you rock more!
from chuzzlewit :
thanks ;)
from stripeybeast :
I used to be kicknpunk13 and I had you on my favorites, I would be honored if you would read the new diary.
from killiansred :
i had such a cartoon crush on wheeler from captain planet. he was such an eco-bad boy. *growl*
from vintagegrrrl :
you already told me what you were getting me, nerdo!!
from non-descript :
Came via Twids. Read the entire journal. I've been missing out. Be good.
from fuschiashock :
what is the friendster thing that i keep hearing about everywhere? &you should get msn.
from versaillers :
I'm loving the Blur, thank God! No one else likes "Wigwam" except me, I thought. No one believes me it's Bob Dylan, at least. The Royal Tenenbaum soundtrack is really good (one of the best soundtracks ever, I would suppose), but now I have two copies! Oh well. 10-4 V
from killiansred :
crikey, it must be going around. i burnt all down the side of my pinky when i was frying chicken the other night. i don't normally say words like crikey, but i needed to have something emotive there.
from versaillers :
Sorry about the hand, man. I burned my forearm the other day at work, which sucked. Now there's a scar that looks like a lightening bolt, and that's pretty rad. It's like the tattoo I never wanted. And I'm nothing short of surprised that you hadn't tapped into Wilco earlier! I can see you liking them (judging on your other tastes). 10-4 V
from madelaine :
hola, thanks for the note! and i promise to take a shot for you, 'cause if my friends have their way, i'll be having a whole lot of 'em. yay for birthdays! actually, i got started tonight...god bless restaurants that don't card!
from mydyingbeta :
yeah i was as surprised as you were to hear they are still around! i'm surprised they haven't keeled over and died yet!
from versaillers :
Hmm...tough call. Your best bet is to probably just flip a coin, let fate decide. (Please don't take that seriously) But don't hold back for the money.
from pillow-wept :
the final verdict was : excellent! i LOVE the tapes. you put so many great songs on those tapes! im glad youre also an SP fan, though i knew that, it was still refreshing to hear some pumpkins on the tapes! :) great job. permanent fixtures in the Golf! x
from versaillers :
Al Gore likes Fountain of Wayne, too. That's funny.
from sleepystorm :
aww -- i make you drowsy? :) x
from chuzzlewit :
"These are happy times" -Snap! Same here. (i'm glad you're happy)
from mydyingbeta :
i always scoff at astrology, but there may be some truth to it, due to the season you were born in and all, since we all know the weather can affect certain people very much, but once in awhile, true or not, they are sort of fun.
from fuschiashock :
i guess it just goes to show how little weight i put on it, but i don't know what pisceans are supposed to be like...
from versaillers :
Haha! You must really love those Flaming Lips. I was thinking of selling the tickets closer to like, $30 or whatever. I have no idea. I've never sold tickets before and have no idea what people are willing to pay. Ih hope that the Flaming Lips are playing because I would love to see them live (since I have heard some less-than-flattering things about them and obviously would like to know if its true). And S.M from Pavement? That's just an indie girl's dream! 10-4 Versailles
from versaillers :
Seriously, whatever I can get for them. I don't expect to break even or whatever. I mean, I paid $110 and I'm probably paying that much for these pit tickets, but I don't expect people to pay that much. I'll sell them to whatever sounds reasonable to the person buying and if they want one or two tickets. 10-4 Versailles (P.S. Is the Seattle Taco del Mars really open at 1:30 a.m.? That's insane!)
from wintergarden :
hi there. i was just about to leave you a note when i closed the window by mistake... anyways, i just read your latest entry, and wanted to let you know that i'm exactly the same way. the best, most *definitive* nights i've ever had just sprung themselves upon me unannounced. one moment i'd be passive/miserable, and the next i'd have met some cool person, and they seemingly changed the whole world. sounds that you had a killer time (how can you not at an indie concert?), and i'm glad it cheered you up. but when you're down, try listening to "don't have to be so sad", by yo la tengo. it works for me...(sometimes). cheers, scott.
from versaillers :
"According to Launch, who has earlier dubbed Radiohead the artist of the month, it's believed that the Flaming Lips are in the running to be the second band for the first leg of the North American Radiohead tour. So far, Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks have been confirmed to be the opening act..." And so forth.
from versaillers :
And the Flaming Lips. They are rumored to open with them, too.
from pillow-wept :
yeah, i knew it was a different version than the album version. the drums, guitar, pace, everything is different. better. i love that song, and this version is sooo rad. and i love badly drawn boy .. and it started my drive to work perfectly! you rock, my friend! x
from pillow-wept :
..is that a different version of 'Sunday' than whats on the album? love it so far. x
from killiansred :
hey, if not for the girl, go see the fountains of wayne/ben lee show for the rock ! ben lee man, he's from sydney, so he's cool like me
from pillow-wept :
hey ... got your tapes! i cant WAIT to listen to them ... all three of them! (which i cant believe you made three!!) .. i noticed you put Blake Babies on there. you SO rock. i'll give you a full report on them as soon as i listen to them (which im sure i'll love them all) thanks again, and i'll definately return the favor! :) x
from chelsea4k :
long live friday five!
from versaillers :
Long Winters are really, really good. You will enjoy them.
from pillow-wept :
thanks, B. i look forward to it! x
from fuschiashock :
the words white trash fail to convince me.
from chuzzlewit :
I remember I used to have a Beatles cassette and Penny Lane was the last song on the A side. I really liked that song. But later I taped over it, sonic youth of all things. And my friend Bobbi-jo was like: What did you do that for?? And I always regretted that. It was a cool cassette. But I'll stop rabbiting on...
from colorbars :
Thanks for the note. Blur was awesome! It was just as I had expected, I was in heaven the whole night!
from fuschiashock :
ew.
from zatara :
Hi - Thanks for reading my journal and you kind comments. I am curious to know how you found it but its glad that its getting viewed by others. I hope you'll keep reading and recommend it to your friends. I spent a good hour rummaging through your journal today. Your very articulate and have lots to say. I have your journal bookmarked now so I look forward to hearing more from you. Anyways - thanks again and hope to hear from you again.... Zatara
from chuzzlewit :
Hey, I'm gonna copy what you did, with the fifty random facts. Okay?
from fuschiashock :
#29... is this together?
from madelaine :
130 stitches?!?!? what were you doing?! 'course, i've never had to have stitches before. (me=big wuss. and what's this montreal screwjob business?
from chelsea4k :
I'm mourning the loss of your Friday Five...
from chuzzlewit :
Ooohhh! Who is this girl you've found who's really cool?? I'm totally curious! (sorry, I can't help being a nosy parker)
from bonkersquipy :
thanks for your note...but you totally overestimate me...you are the sweet one...its too bad i dont live closer to you...it would be fun to have coffee and wander around looking at all the vintage and retro stuff...especially old albums on vinyl...anyway...i hope you are doing well...
from krebstick :
Aww, you flatter me so! Smooches darling! P.S. I'm glad you appreciate SNL!
from bonkersquipy :
i think that your choices in life will make you a successful person...if you decide to continue in the armed forces you will be successful with that...if you leave and enter the non-military world...you will be successful in your endeavors...i suppose i'm only saying that you have to bolster some confidence in your abilities...i believe that you will be successful in whatever you decide to do...and besides...every person has a different definition of success...but dont be afraid to leave the military to search for your true success...
from versaillers :
Oh that's great, kick me when I'm down. Just what I needed- someone to mock my youth and misfortune at a time like this. Shame, shame. You enjoy your show and your age and I'm just going to sit at home, miserable, cursing my birthdate. :( Turnin Brakes, huh? I've heard good things about them. I'm going to see what I can find/hear on the Internet. Thanks 10-4 Versailles
from fuschiashock :
i'm mourning burnt sienna.
from painted-fish :
yes of course you'll be a butterfly, or if not a moth but either way you'll still be beautiful and have wings.
from fuschiashock :
perhaps you already are a butterfly. think about it. &if you decide that you aren't, just be one. it's that easy.
from painted-fish :
geeah.... I love Modest Mouse
from pillow-wept :
psst...did you send the tape? cause im moving in one day ... so if not, lemme know, & i'll send you my new address. x
from painted-fish :
yeah... I'm sure I will get lucky, I saw them 2 years ago in Chicago and they blew me away then.... so this will just be the same..or maybe better!!!
from mydyingbeta :
ahhhhh blur sweeeet! sounds like you had quite the night!
from painted-fish :
Blur? cool... I got tickets for the pit to see radiohead (: but I have to wait a while before I do see them.
from colorbars :
Ooh, you saw Blur, lucky you! They are my favorite band and I'm finally going to get to see them live in July. What songs did they play from their pre-13 albums (besides Song 2 and Bettlebum)?
from fuschiashock :
maybe i'll have to sell out to the man also. it seems anytime i have the chance to be online, the servers are too busy and i can't add an entry...
from madelaine :
what did the thing say? "whatever, whenever, whoever?" purrrrrrrrrrrr. would that my life be so exciting.
from fuschiashock :
i definitely like rhp more than sloan. i don't know, sometimes i'm in the mood to listen to sloan, but i love rhp. it depends on the cd too, because there are some great sloan songs, and then there are some not so great sloan songs. actually, i haven't been accepted to school. i don't even graduate from high school for two more years. the quebec thing, which i won't be going to, is an exchange thing where i'd be working for six weeks this summer. &we should form a 'love sucks' club. it would be great....
from twids :
Aww. thanks, honey.
from mydyingbeta :
what in your opinion, is the most melancholy belle and sebastian song? i'm putting together a mix and for some reason just can't find THE right song, so i thought i'd ask you, since you love them so much...
from painted-fish :
phew, am I glad you were right!
from krebstick :
hey hey! Just thought I'd mention that you are fabulous!
from madelaine :
bryan, you're awesome.
from killiansred :
i swear, every time i am chewing gum, i will at one point throughout the gum's life stick it on my finger and say "there's gum on my seat, gum!" and wave my finger under someone's nose
from mydyingbeta :
i loved your latest entry. i hate nighclubs as well. little dingy hole in the wall rock venues are so much better!
from twids :
Hee. Your B is my A! :) Isn't that feeling a trip when someone you love both breaks your heart and lifts you up into new levels of maturity all in one instant?? Good show.
from pillow-wept :
hey boy. d'you send that tape yet? im resorting to buying tapes to dub albums (which is OK in its own right..but mixtapes are soooo much cooooooler) ... x
from killiansred :
i love speed. so many rad keanu moments, like when he's with the guy with the gun and he's like "we're just two cool guys" and at the end when the bad guy is telling him how smart he is and keanu is like "yeah, but im taller" classic
from diary-viewer :
We do diary reviews. Check us out!
from twids :
Thanks, honey! Stay tuned....:)
from chuzzlewit :
Hey, you've got heaps of notes... Seriously, I think you'd be a cool big brother. That summer party sounds cool too!
from versaillers :
Oh, I see...that was directed at me then? I shoulda caught that one. I like Blur (Think Tank is pretty good) but I hate the Showbox. So conflicted... 10-4 Versailles
from versaillers :
Hail to the Thief is the long-awaited sixth LP from Radiohead. Released today. It'll probably be really good, but not their best. Probably. Blur and The Jealous Sound would be awesome to see this month. 10-4 Versailles
from wintergarden :
hey, thanks for the tip. The site actually featured a lot bands that I liked already--but I'd never of 'american analog set', and i like them a lot. cheers.
from madelaine :
are you gonna come down here and experience some of this texas heat? i think it's promising to be one of the hottest summers ever. have i said recently how much i LOVE air conditioning?
from killiansred :
hey, thanks !! :0)
from pandionna :
Stumbled upon your diary in pursuit of "Random Guestbook Signing Week," and I have to say: Wow. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
from wintergarden :
hey there. the song is 'my parent's house'. It's all F, Am, G, and C (at least according to the tab I found..my ears are kinda poor). I'm actually downloading 'hardly' right now, at your recommendation. since our musical tastes are kind of similar on the emo end of things (kristin hersh, tanya donnelly, hayden, r.e.m, etc.), i thought i'd suggest a few things. you might want to try patti smith, belle and sebastian, and galaxie 500. for all i know, you probably know them already, but let me know what you think!
from painted-fish :
I can relate with you on that one.... only now I don't see my crush anymore which is a healthy thing for me. Anyway...you took the words right out of my mouth!
from killiansred :
hey, yeah that's my email address, [email protected]. most people are like "huh, keanu ?? he's dumb" you're the first to get that it's from river pheonix. damn i love that song. and i love your diary too, it's a must read for me :0)
from vintagegrrrl :
awww Bryan, Field tells me you're sickie. i hope you start feeling better very, very soon! oh, and i hope he gave you the "big hug and wet smoochie kiss" that i told him to, although i have a feeling he did not...
from pillow-wept :
ha, yeah i actually DID get the reference! :) thanks. i'll mail ya my address for the tape! x
from mydyingbeta :
i hope your dad's surgery went well. one of my close friends' dad had that problem, and i know it was hell for their family.
from mydyingbeta :
hot houston night spots? come on man! there's the hooka bar, hurricane hut, and the wild wild west, what more could you need? *sarcasm* yeah you're right houston sucks my optimism is only reversed pessimism....
from moonrattles :
Whatever way it goes, hope this is the sign you ve been waiting for. May I say, "hooray, signs!" ? Yes, still reading. If you want to make a mix tape, that's great. Promise to email you this time. But I've decided I want to make a mix tape/CD for you. My diaryland email is on. Thanks for sharing; I really enjoy reading. B. BTW, I had to lock out a coworker. The username is moonrattles and the password is thisisit. I will unlock in a month or so.
from mydyingbeta :
excuse my retarded typo

mmmmm hummus us great....
from pillow-wept :
oh yay! whats your email? x
from painted-fish :
I like you
from versaillers :
As in "What's New Pussycat?" Tom Jones? Jesus, that's a twist. But hey, at least it's something new. The music industry needs to stop recycling itself...the Strokes, Hives, Vines, etc. Been there, done that. Any ways, I've been waiting for Silverdale to get some indie movies. Still waiting on "Bend It Like Beckham," though. 10-4 Versailles
from versaillers :
The Electric Six are amazing! I too have been humming the song with Jack White for the last week and a half, and if I weren't broke (really, really broke), I would probably give in and buy the record, too. I have no will. Is "A Mighty Wind" playing in Silverdale/Bremerton now?
from fuschiashock :
red house painters = best band ever
from madelaine :
ah, decemberguy, don't reinlist!!! come back to texas, go to ut-austin, eat tons of mexican food, go to sxsw! hang out with me! heheh, now i'm just being selfish. but you do what's right for you. and which 6/10 "manly traits" did you have, out of curiosity? i wonder if there's a list like that for us womenfolk...anyway, have a nice day! -elaine
from twids :
Because you'd be beholden to the armed forces for another four years...two years into which you'd be wondering, "Why on earth did I reinlist instead of going back to school the way I wanted to and finding a career I really wanted to go into?" And although you'd be working for everyone else's freedom, you wouldn't feel like you had any of your own, and you'd grow to resent your country...and who wants to resent our country? And also, because you'll get all the benefits of having been in the armed forces now (GI Bill, PX benefits, Federal Credit Union, etc.), and that wouldn't change in another four years, so it's not like if you stayed in for a while longer, you'd get more coming out. You may build more skills, which is great, but are they the ones you wanted to build? I'm not saying go or don't go, you asked for reminders, so I'm just reminding. :)
from rapunzal :
Thanks for the nice message! It made my morning :-) Your latest entry cracked me up, especially when you said "then again I suffer from "female-deficiency" so maybe I shouldn't obsess about TV shows so much," I know exactly what you mean, only my deficiency happens to be male. The finale of 24 was pretty good, not as good as last year, but still good. I heart tv. Also, I'm curious abou what six guy points out of the 10 you scored.
from twids :
Dude, Seattle is, like, Wank Mecca. I can't stand that place. It's on a par with NYC in my book...except at least the people in NYC are colorful. Seattle has gone so far as to actually make my friend ihaterain discontinue liking fleece. Dude. Not liking fleece? s'gotta be nothin' but evil. Hee. I jest, but only a little. I really don't like it up there. But I do love the Northwest in general, and there are many other parts of WA that I truly truly love. There's just something about Seattle that makes me numb and sad. Bah. :)
from painted-fish :
P.S... you seem cool too.
from painted-fish :
Humm.. yes, you are welcome... and I guess I better get use to sleeping on floors and in shitty vans. I wonder if that'll make a good song too? Hum.. anyway, I added you.
from elipsis :
:) thanks! i love them, too. there's something so sweet and beautiful about their spaced-out wonder...
from vintagegrrrl :
i'l keep my fingers crossed and my eyes, too!
from twids :
Oh! Oh! I read it, too! I read it, too! :) (Have you ever seen episodes of "Welcome Back, Kotter"? I am so Horshack right now.)
from chuzzlewit :
Hey! I read this 'claptrap'. The more I read of your diary the more I like you. You're one of those really cool people I wish I could be.
from painted-fish :
lovely
from vintagegrrrl :
i never read this "claptrap" because i'm jealous of madelaine. heh. are you coming down here next weekend or WHAT?!
from fuschiashock :
i don't know if i count as people, but i'm still reading.
from madelaine :
wow, five notes in a row...i so ROCK your notes page, decemberguy. and you need to stop calling me cool. because one, people will think that i actually am, and two, my ego is getting to be pretty huge. sleeping away the weekend is one of my favorite pasttimes, and as soon as i'm done with finals, i will begin to sleep away the summer. oh, the delights of sleep!!
from madelaine :
ah, you don't owe me. i'm glad you enjoyed the package! -later, elaine
from madelaine :
cheeky is a delightful word. i also like its synonyms impertinent and impudent. but i think those word predilections comes from spending too many hours with my nose shoved in jane austen novels. see, i'm not cool at all, i'm a complete nerd!!! other words i like a lot are magnolia, chiaroscuro, defenestrate, verandah, rhapsodical, sensual and snarky. uh, i just realized i spend too much time reading the dictionary.
from madelaine :
*sighs and shakes head* you're cheeky today, decemberguy.
from madelaine :
does this mean you are packed full of vitamin C goodness?
from wintergarden :
Hey there. Thanks for the kind words--it's reading stuff like that that really makes blogging worthwhile. I checked out some of your old entries, and I liked them a lot, especially the ones about B. They came across as really heartfelt, much more so than I'd expect from a military guy (so I'm a stereotyper...I admit it). Keep up the good work! Oh, and one other thing: The Stranger *is* an amazing book--it practically made the summer of 2002 for me.
from madelaine :
bursting with fruit flavor, eh? sounds exciting. but i gotta know: which fruit? glad you had a better day today!
from twids :
Argh. Thanks so much for the note, it made my (yester)day. :) And sorry you had a rough one today. Wanna come join me in N'Awlins????
from madelaine :
bryan, got your IM when i woke up (very late) this morning, but sadly, at 3.55am i was sound asleep. which means not only did i miss your IM, i missed the bass from the radio downstairs which was rattling my windows and making things on my floor move. heheh, leah ann made enchiladas last night and i thought of you! what were you doing up so godawful early anyway? i'm mailing your package tomorrow, so watch out for it in a week or so...it takes 5 days for things to get to SA, so who knows when the post office people have to ship it across the country. slowpokes. later, elaine
from madelaine :
no, bryan, YOU're the coolest!
from versaillers :
I immediately downloaded "Changes" after seeing your note. Love the Bowie. The lyrics are actually pretty apt to my entry, how keen of you. Speaking of great radio stations- have you ever tuned into 90.3 KEXP? Possibly the only good Seattle-based radio station. It comes in a bit static-y here on the Peninsula, but you can also listen to it online. They play Idlewild, Flaming Lips, Radiohead, Nick Lowe, etc. Basically, all things wonderful. "Procurement" was one of my AP Government vocabularly words today. And "How To Disappear Completely" should be played daily over the speakers at every office/school instead of the Pledge of Allegiance. 10-4 Versailles
from versaillers :
Wait a minute...isn't South Park suppose to be pointless? That was almost profound (sans "soft pussy protesters")! 10-4 Versailles

hey, college sucks. it's okay. and just say no to ferrets, they stick. later tator, -e
from madelaine :
hey man, don't knock collective soul, all right? (and at least you can run a mile and a half, i'd probably get 1/16 of the way in and collapse like the wuss i am.) oh, and pish to you saying you need a girlfriend, i don't even get to see men (besides professors and random grad school students) on a regular basis! it sucks! and i don't know what happened to the computer the other night, but i ended up just talking to myself for a little bit (damn technology!). c'est la vie. -later, elaine.
from mydyingbeta :
i only remember one time the pumpkins came to houston, tx, i was young at the time and my bf bought me a shirt, since i couldn't go, and veruca salt opened for them, i believe it was melancholy & the infinite sadness.
from vintagegrrrl :
yesssss! they'll be in LA before Seattle! TWO nights!
from vintagegrrrl :
NOoOoOoOo! i TOTALLY deserve to see kristin more than you... i'ven listening to her right now (again).
from pillow-wept :
they never stopped in texas? ive seen the pumpkins about 8 times .. as they used to be my faaaaaavorite band when i was a teenager .. and hot damn, i loved me some SP! :) glad you enjoyed the Zwans show! (and hell yeah! that EW article on the dixie gals was pretty fucking cool!) x
from pillow-wept :
we should exchange mix cds. x
from madelaine :
bryan, you are silly. hope you have a good weekend! talk to you later. -elaine

from vintagegrrrl :
congrats, bryan... you have now reached an all new level of dork-ness ;) (p.s. i think i would eat it.)
from madelaine :
thanks for your note; most of what i was writing about was ranting and raving, and i'm almost positive now everything is going to be okay. it's been a strange week for me. (but it's almost over!) i hope your week is going well -- and you know, i wish i could do more of that living-by-what-the-heart-says more often. i think that's what i'll do when i'm in austin for grad school (hopefully). -e
from twids :
Go you! Way to make a tough decision! I think you've chosen a good road.... :) PS My ex-marine, republican pops hates Bush, too! Whoo! There goes the neighborhood!
from twids :
omg, yes. Second only to the Lionel Ritchie scene. Excellent comparison...exactly how I felt. :)
from twids :
psst! So I'm going down to LA the weekend of May 17th. Keep that in mind. Oh, and also? Whatcha doin' up so late? :)
from fuschiashock :
do you play any instruments?
from madelaine :
assuming there is a god, if (s)he really is this benevelont being, (s)he wouldn't have given scott stapp that much chest hair, because frankly, stapp scares small children (and me). ack. -elaine

sociology! whew who!
from twids :
My pleasure. And I was serious, by the way. (Despite my incredible talent for trying to be witty and coming out daft and lude.)
from mydyingbeta :
sociology kicks ass! awesome you're back in school! also, everytime you mention that trish chick, i keep thinking slc punk. anyway take care man!
from vintagegrrrl :
i am SO GLAD you're in school! woo!
from pillow-wept :
i used to work for the radio station here in town that plays the "good" alternative/punk/old school music (but only for three hours a week) and i THINK i remember something about them MAYBE breaking up - but if they did, then im pretty sure they formed another band .. but dont quote me on that. do you know the Rocket Summer? hes a goofy, cute little kid (though i guess these days hes probably at LEAST 18?) and hes really good. dallas used to have a great music scene...but there for a while, it was pretty much shit. now, i think its starting to get back on track. bands like slobberbone, polyphonic spree (though before, they were Tripping Daisy, and people here LOOOVE that band), and [DARYL], and lift to experience, & Deathray Davies..etc etc... god. i just went on & on there, didnt i? sorry 'bout that! anyways - i want to marry your taste in music, by the way. x
from pillow-wept :
slobberbone. polyphonic spree. all dallas greats..thats cool! x
from madelaine :
hey bryan, i hope you're having a good (or at least, better) week, and i echo the comment before mine: IM if you need anyone to just listen (or read, whatever - like i WANT to do school work anyway!). my computer is a little bit in the crapper this week, but i'm around. talk to you later! -elaine
from twids :
Heya. Glad you're pulling out of the dark depths. Drop a line if you ever need a shoulder, or an ear, or, erm, some other sympathetic good-listening body part. Yeah, I'm going to go now...(but seriously, IM me or sumpin'. Don't just sit there and be bummed when you could be venting. Hee.)
from killiansred :
hey thanks. that means a lot to me
from mydyingbeta :
loved the list of cds from highschool!
from fuschiashock :
i've been playing oboe since september. it's really hard at first to get a sound, but after that it gets easier. i like it.
from fuschiashock :
why oboe?
from twids :
Schweet! Definitely keep me posted. :) Later skater.
from pillow-wept :
(thank you B. thank you )x
from versaillers :
I knew someone was going to tell me to reconsider because I'll one day regret not going! That's a concern of mine, naturally, and one of those guilt trips my mother has been using on me. Perhaps I will regret it...I hope not, though. I'm not really "Susie High School" and I truly detest my class, which makes me not want to go. I will definitely put some more thought into it, though. So thank you for your input- it's much appreciated. I saw some character on a sitcom television show wearing an Interpol tour shirt and it scared me. 10-4 Versailles
from pillow-wept :
grr. im sorry i always leave retarded notes.. but you were listening to Love the other day. god. why do you have THE best musical taste of ANYONE i know?! seriously. x
from twids :
Hey! Hey! I'm going to be down in SoCal sometime during your leavetime, too! Wanna meet another [likely less cool] chick while you're down???
from vintagegrrrl :
wow, you made it sound like we're having a romantic rendevous! haha! i am sooo stoked that you're coming sown! it's looking like i'll have plenty of free time on my hands...
from mydyingbeta :
you kick ass man!
from vintagegrrrl :
am i "really cool people"?!?!
from madelaine :
remember, cameron is the one who, at the end of the movie, says: "I am not going to sit on my ass as the events that affect me unfold to determine the course of my life. I'm going to take a stand. I'm going to defend it. Right or wrong, I'm going to defend it." so maybe it's a good thing, ya know? -elaine
from pillow-wept :
hey..i totally agree with what you said about ryan adams. i ADORE his music. i think hes a brilliant singer/songwriter..especially Heartbreaker and even Gold. but he IS an asshole. i hate his personality SO much i couldnt even stomach seeing him at the austin city limits festival except for three songs. and i had been dying to see him for about two years! anyhow--gold IS a good album, though :) x
from twids :
Woohoo! Thanks! I should say the same to you for kicking such major ass in your new position AND running 5 miles without dying!!!! (I couldn't do that in a meelion years.)
from pillow-wept :
oh! i think its SO great that you dig G. Parsons....... you rock SO damn hard. x
from pillow-wept :
hi..thanks B. xx

*Squeezing you so hard in a bear hug! you lose a breath!* Yes, thank you for the note sweets...

no, bryan! you need to go to college. your education is more important than money! [the voice of reason is now shutting up.]

from fuschiashock :
exotic canadien women? that's just bizarre. what's exotic about canadian women (yeah, canadian with an a. unless it's in french, but then women are feminine so it's canadienne :)) it's not cold in halifax either! if you want cold, go to winnipeg. in case you don't know, i live about forty-five minutes away from halifax.
from twids :
Thank you, sweetheart. That note meant a lot. Hope the new flirtation is going well, despite the new developments. :) Keep us posted.
from fuschiashock :
why would you want to live in halifax (not that you shouldn't, i'm just curious)?
from ladygoodman :
oh my crap. how did you ever manage to drink a litre of pepsi blue?! that stuff is the worst! (p.s. i love your pavement quote in yer profile) xo
from pillow-wept :
Hi B. i didnt have anything more to say than that... ? sorry. x
from fuschiashock :
i should design a layout myself. in the diaries i had on here before fuschiashock, i did all my layouts myself. but now, i keep finding ones that i love, and i'm not exactly great at teh webdesign.
from plume :
why would you want to come backstage? It's just sex, drugs and rocknroll. Hanging out with billy can be really boring. But I guess that's what the strippers and casino in the back is for.
from mydyingbeta :
thanks for the kate army idea, i used it for one of my e-mail addresses! i look forward to catching up on your diary!!
from vintagegrrrl :
i like your entry today bryan!
from rapunzal :
I absolutely agree with you. Completely.
from madelaine :
yes, school in austin...i'm very much looking forward to it. i'm going to apply to tulane, just to see what happens (c'mon, grad school in the garden district, i'm there!). but austin fits my budget. 6th street, sxsw, live music capital of the world, and san antonio's only 2 hours away in light traffic. happiness.
from vintagegrrrl :
hey, thanks for the rain... it's POURING here, but i'm nice and dry inside listening to b&s, perfect rainy day music! <3
from madelaine :
you know bryan, if i can make it for four years at a freakin' WOMEN'S college in ROANOKE, VIRGINIA, i think you can make it at a state university in texas. i'm more than likely going to end up at UT-Austin to get my master's/PhD. besides, after school, you can go anywhere you want (i just happen to want to go back home). although seattle and providence and toronto sound amazing, too. decisions, decisions...sigh. later, e
from vintagegrrrl :
damn, how come your diary is so much more popular than mine?!? i'm jealous. but i am also glad you are feeling better.
from pillow-wept :
im not too sure, actually. i know hes been WORKING on one? but hes also sorta messed up on heroine..i read that somewhere? or heard about it somewhere. shame, too, cause hes so GOSHDARN talented! & i LOVE figure 8. you rock, B.
from introibo :
i found you randomly. i think hayden .. might be the same band that does "dynamite walls" ... a song for which i am eternally grateful. your diary's great. :)
from moonrattles :
Just found you through another of my favorites, Sampsman, and wanted to say I enjoyed reading what I did. And my best friend lives in Commerce, TX. No idea such song existed! Had to download it. If you still have some of those memorexes laying around, I would love a tape and would be happy to return the favor! B
from madelaine :
hmm...yeah, i think that if i was a guy or if i was a lesbian, lauren ambrose would be high on the list...but, alas, i am neither. and it is an absolutely wonderful show, and either the first season of six feet under just came out on DVD or it soon will. i highly recommend it (at least renting). have a great day! -elaine

i'll look into toulon, and i'm pretty sure that for our field trip to the south of france we'll be going to nice--i'm tres excited about that!! and i have many a friend who share your jealousy of my getting to be in europe right now while they are stuck somewhere in the us (mostly in roanoke, and so i can understand how paris would be much more appealing!!) but, on the plus side, you do get to go to seattle every now and then--a city i would very much like to live in someday, even though i've never been...
from madelaine :
ah, lord chesterfield. memories from high school english. thank you much, decemberguy! when you're online, my aol screen name is madelaine648. -elaine

awesome! thank you! believe it or not... i'm a wicked polka dancer (big family, slovenian aunts, go figure)... :)
from vintagegrrrl :
ok, but you've gotta admit that winona is GOOD at that "i'm a poor little 19yo" routine - even though she's 30. and angelina was *much* hotter in foxfire, and slightly less crazy - rawr!

hi sweetie...it's drama queen here...ha! it's only temp, but email me for the pass and stuff if you'd like... :)
from mydyingbeta :

from mydyingbeta :
that's so cool you're making a mix tape, cuz i am in the middle of making one this very second! it's a lost art. mix cds just aren't the same.
from elipsis :
:o) ok...if you're serious, i would LOVE a mix-tape. if not...well... what wonderful taste in music you have!
from chikbeatnik :
you are also very f'ing cool. i would sooo add you to my aim buddy list... if only i knew your screen name! oh, the tragedy that is my life. *hint hint*

ah, nada surf is great live, i saw them a few years back, you are so lucky! *jealousy*

you should volunteer! you'd be great as a big brother! there are so many organizations out there, i'm sure you'll find something that you'll love. my favorite thing to do in san antonio is the elf louise program. basically, you go to their center and pick out wrap christmas presents for children. so much fun. good luck!
from vintagegrrrl :
also, i like your new entry about wanting to get involved with a cause. i think working with teens would be a good one, since you've had the particular experiences that you have.
from vintagegrrrl :
um, do you even READ my diary?!? i hope you were just kidding when you asked if i was anything like that!
from mydyingbeta :
that is so awesome you had a before sunrise experience, go you, that is my fave movie, (funny, good ol ethan's in that one too...)
from vintagegrrrl :
duuuuude, i soooo turn you on! hahahahaha! <3 julie

(i dont know why-but i JUST noticed you had Camus listed... i adore you even more now..) x
from versaillers :
Ah, I see. Wayne did go into how he can relate more than to the people in the audience than to the musicians on the stage. I can see your point. I personally never attended at Lips concert, though I do admire their music. As a musician myself, though, it's got to be more than just "going through the motions." OR rather, "going through the Emotions." For me, I go to shows to hear the bands, not see them. I think it'll differ from person to person, band to band, fan to fan. But thanks for your thoughts. 10-4 Versailles
from mydyingbeta :
you're right about the relationships-take-work-but-are-worthwhile thing. i guess i'm looking at the plus side of being single, in the process sort of focusing on the downer parts of being in a relationship to justify my current state to make myself feel better! a denial of sorts. i don't want to put forth alot of effort with someone unless i really see it going anywhere, which means it all comes down to meeting the right person, in the meantime, i am going to enjoy this not knowing what will happen next scenerio, the chase/looking phase helps you appreciate your next relationship, though i am tiring of it all, but alas, i am rambling, thanks for your thoughts...
from madelaine :
well, you can look at it like this: katharine hepburn got almost thirty years with the love of her life. and that beats a movie plotline any day. -e
from pillow-wept :
hey B: yeah--i feel as you do. i imagine to hear news like that, a part of me might die as well. its funny--the impact someone can have on our lives. i wonder if they ever know it-or if they felt it too. i wonder if theres someone out there wondering about Tiffanie..its just odd, i guess. someone can leave their traces on us..and thats the only thing that'll ever remain--their fingerprints. x
from crosover :
Hi, like your style. I'll be back.
from vintagegrrrl :
oh i *heart* b & s! but bryan, i have some painful news for you - my car tape deck ATE one of your last mix tapes and i've been too scared to listen to the other. i was pretty effin' sad. do you have a burner on your new cd player?
from vintagegrrrl :
i am soooo jealous. i want to go out to dinner with you at somewhere like applebees or outback. i'm a pain in the ass to eat out with, though ;)
from onyourside :
Thank-you for your note. I also read,'High Fidelity and loved it. I love the part...I gave Barry a raise, he took it to mean he could work less...or something like that. Also...you like Interpol...awesome. Thanks again.
from margeeolio :
never mind, I just read my own diary. see how good my memory is?
from margeeolio :
do you have me on your AIM buddy list mister ;)?? how did you know about the STD progaganda??? :) I dont mind if you do... thanks for the wish of good luck...we shall see.
from echopunk :
Hicks' taste in music was varied...It's not that I have anything against Tool, but I do have somehting against these diaries that spout rage and angst in the most arbitrary manner. Rollins isn't a comedian. He's a speaker. You can't compare the two. And I've heard all Rollin's spoken word, read all his books, but I still think if Hicks hadn't died so young, he'd be a formidable competitor in misanthropy.
from bonkersquipy :
thanks for the updated comment on your profile...it made me feel all special...as i feel like the worst diarylander ever...i hope that everything is going well for you...and i'm looking forward to reading your thoughts in harley-race...p.s...i still think you should come to london and hang out...

i think it is a very good specimin of the new idm indie hybrid. catchy, melodic and ben gibbard is involved. no room for failure. i think ted and hall, if given the chance, wouodbe close friends. ~j
from mydyingbeta :
i totally understand, i want to be winona ryder, and yes, that movie is definitely one of the best of our generation, there's so much about it i love. i especially love it when ethan hawke covers "add it up" by the femmes. i guess my thinking is that i want someone deep and reflective, but who can still have good time, without being shallow, and who truly knows why "the caged bird sings," hehe.
from versaillers :
It's a mystery, isn't it? But just because I live in the abomination that is Bremerton doesn't mean I can't recognize great music like Interpol when I hear it. And Zwan and Brendon Benson?! I never thought that there was a soul on this goddamn Peninsula who knew of them. Indeed Bremerton is a waste of space- everyday I ask myself, "Why god why am I stuck here?" MxPx had no idea what they were talking about. Did you see Interpol last Thursday at the Showbox? 10-4 Versailles

from madelaine :
whoo-hoo, bryan's back! and you really should go see the monologues, or at least read it if you ever get a chance. you'll definitely learn something new (like, in the state of texas, it's illegal to buy a vibrator...hmmm...). -e

exactly. i read catcher in the rye first, but f & z is definitely much better. i have a book where i copy out passages from books that i particuly like; i have the ending of it copied out. i'm also quite fond of rasie high the roof beam, carpenters and seymour an introduction. i have nine stories, but i've never read past the first two or three. i just can't seem to get into them.
from madelaine :
hiatus!?!? well, i am in the habit of taking those, too, so i won't get mad or anything like that. anyway, YOU be cool and stay nice (of course you will, silly me). -elaine
from rapunzal :
Work does suck! Even though my time at work today doesn't come close to comparing with yours, I still agree!
from mydyingbeta :
i enjoyed your list of things you are looking for in a girlfriend! you have a good head on your shoulders as far as what you are expecting from the person you're with. makes me want to make a list as well! i found the beach boy thing hilarious, i once dated a guy who considered the ataris emo, enough said! =)
from madelaine :
nah, my comment wasn't about jokes with the guys, just a general comment. admittedly, all i know about you is what you present to me through your journal, but from what i do know, you are a wonderful person, and i'm glad to have met you even through these limited circumstances. decemberguy, you rock!
from bonkersquipy :
hey...you should totally come and visit london...it would be tons of fun to show you all the sights...hopefully things are going well with you...have a nice day...
from vintagegrrrl :
i'm thinking....no.
from madelaine :
okay. i just finished catching up on the past month and a half of your diary. three things: 1) happy belated birthday; 2) you took the pictures down! i want to see pictures!; 3) if your friends don't tell you every day that you are a fabulous person, i'd ditch 'em and get ones who do. your entries always bring a smile to my face.
from madelaine :
are you kidding? leave for good? i'm addicted to this site! besides, i have to know what everyone's been up to! i need to return the favor and make some tapes for you, but i wouldn't know what to put on them for you. kinda like trying to buy presents for the person who has everything. one of my coworkers handed me a tape of old school jazz and funk (60s-70s) he made from 45s and it's awesome. it's even got a song nelly sampled for 'hot in herre' (is that how it's spelled? i know it's all funky), which is fun. i'll stop now or your note will go on and on. later, bryan! -elaine
from plume :
Yeah in their interview on muchmusic he says something like that they're the best musicians he's ever played with. Doesn't sound really mean or anything. But in some way it does belittle james and d'arcy of course. But no big deal I think.
from plume :
me too. well the live stuff. still no cd for me.
from alwaysthere :
no, my dear, you are not alone. the curse of the twenty-somethings: a bitter-sweet freedom that leaves us unbound but drifting.
from trixiepup :
that paper bag thing is not just you, if that makes you feel any better....i feel it also, but i'm not sure if it's a good thing or bad that there are others who feel it....hope things get better.....
from pillow-wept :
yes. yes, i COULD quit. but theres that whole homeless factor. :( x
from margeeolio :
rock on! totally agree with your entry, AND ZWAN! they REALLY ROCK
from margeeolio :
what a great question!! no, I am not against what you do, I think we do need defense and all that (although we do spend way to much money on it) I am agianst what the people who tell you what to do. i actually feel bad for all of you who may be forced to fight a war that is about securing oil fields, I dont know, I dont think I could die for that. I know that saddam sucks and yeah he is a crappy guy, but he has always been a crappy guy, and as long as he was doing what we liked we had no problem with him, like many of the other harsh dictators that we do business with now, it seems that its only when they dont do what we want that we start a war, and yes, I think that he should be removed, but I dont hink that it has to be through war, and I think that it is fucked up that we are doing this alone, that none of our alies support us, that should tell us something. AND, have they thought about what is going to happen after we remove him? How all the different ethnic groups are totally going to freak and there will be a total reorganization? and what about if north korea does get involved? sigh, I am worried....
from fuschiashock :
if i ever get laid i'll tell you :)
from rapunzal :
Hey, I found your diary by chance today. You've got great taste in music and movies, and some pretty cool stuff to say while you're at it :-)
from pillow-wept :
what was that B? sounds like you left a word outta that note you left me :) x
from mydyingbeta :
one more thing-the violent femmes are from wisconsin, actually, maybe that means something...
from mydyingbeta :
hey, thanks for the list of top 5 punk albums, i was listening to that rancid album yesterday, in fact! you have good taste! =)
from bonkersquipy :
i'm glad you liked donnie darko...it is by far one of my favorite movies...have you seen the dangerous lives of altar boys...i particularly fancy that one as well...i hope that you are doing well...later
from pillow-wept :
can i borrow your rose - colored glasses. i seem to have misplaced mine... im usually the one whos so naive...what with all my tree watching and sky staring self... but im glad to hear youre taking my place. :)
from pillow-wept :
she returns ... x
from ugotsoul :
great choice of lyrics... but are you okay? makes me think- you "ultra down" honey... :) smile.
from blots :
yeah for coming to victoria, where i live. it is lovely if you like early bird dinners and matinees.
from fuschiashock :
i love cello.
from vintagegrrrl :
b- hey, how 'bout i come up to seattle this summer to say hi... and stay for a few days?!?! i'd... erm... need a couch to crash on though... and your diary isn't dribble! -j
from moz :
is the link of your diary from that mirah song of the same title? just wondering. buffalo tom rocks.
from mydyingbeta :
corolla's are great! i have one. it's worth the little bit extra a month, they run forever without breaking down. my cousins have been driving theirs forever.
from alwaysthere :
thanks for the encouragement. in a strange, disconnected way it made me feel not so lonely. you honestly made my day today.
from vintagegrrrl :
bry-bry~~ thank you for the note about my diary style.... i feel all warm & fuzzy now! i miss us emailing each other... i think we have conflicting work schedules these days. boo. ~~ju-ju
from starsforarms :
B: dont make me kick your ass for mocking me! :) x
from fuschiashock :
fridayfive.org
from istoba :
I'll definitely check it out. Thanks! Cheers, Paul
from mydyingbeta :
sorry, didn't mean to leave you an epic long note! *apology*
from mydyingbeta :
in a way, love is a choice. eventually, you just have to choose someone; however, make that choice a good one, and don't let anyone make you feel like you deserve less than what you really want in a person! as long as you don't have an unrealistic idea of what you are looking for, i think this is not what people mistake as being "too picky." the majority of your happiness rests in who you marry. but while it is a choice, you have to have the lightning/spark. a friend of mine told me, "don't marry the person you can stand to live with, marry the person you can't live without." after reading your diary, i feel as though i am going through the same thing you are to a certain extent, so i enjoy reading your perspective and what you have to say. i can see why you love high fidelity so much-i do, too, i just finished reading it. it made me realize i have to stop running from one relationship to another after the fantasy that doesn't exist. anyway, i hope you meet "the one," and that she has much exotic lingerie! j/k take care.
from bonkersquipy :
actually i do know a couple like that...my parents are very similar...and this probably has something to do with it...i mean my dad travels a lot but you can set your clock by the phone calls to my mother when he is away..it is almost sickening...but i'm saying...wouldnt you want a love like that...one that you waited for and knew that was perfect than one you settled on...and really as this point i'm wishing you had aim so i could stop playing note tag...
from bonkersquipy :
dont we all want what we think that we deserve...however the problem lies when you think less of ourselves than you should...than we end up in situations that neither suit us nor we desire...that fact that her = linda mccartney only illustrates my point...i mean..paul had the love of his life...and even though he got remarried he doesnt love his new wife as much as he loves linda...he just settled...and i dont think he is as happy with her as with linda...
from bonkersquipy :
but is that such a problem....these days families are growing smaller and parents older...with life expectancy as it these days what does it matter how old you are when you youngest child graduates from high school...especially if you have created this life with this one person that you know you love so much that it is painful to see yourself without them...would you trade a decade or your life for that feeling or would you rather settle down with someone now...have a few children and be old enough to be grandparents when your in your 50s but wake up every day and not have butterflies in your stomach when you see them...
from bonkersquipy :
i see your point...but what happens when the nature of things is that you are living a life that you figure will be stable...you are a responsible adult now and this is what you have to do...and while you dont feel passionately for your partner...you love them in their own special way...what happens...when you meet that person that you feel passionate about...and by that time you have spent a lifetime with them...but realize that you dont love them...or at least...love them like you do this other person...what happens then...or what happens when you realize that you are living this lie...this lie that is supposed to be better...more stable...than waiting...
from bonkersquipy :
i hope that you are settling because that is something that you truly wish to do or because you are being pressured by outside forces...although i suppose no one truly wishes to settle...i guess...i mean...i feel like i should say something...try and talk you out of it...out of settling...but as i am not you nor am i feeling your pressures it truly is not my place to talk...i guess i only wish for you to be happy...and i dont think that you can do that unless you are truly open with yourself about what you want..and i guess i dont see that if you settle for who your life partner is going to be...i dont know...i guess i just wanted to offer encouragement...and i hope that you find what you are looking for...
from vintagegrrrl :
oh, and i have honey-nut cheerios pencils with MY NAME IMPRINTED ON THEM IN GOLD. so pin a rose on my nose!
from vintagegrrrl :
"the Nine" - hahahahaha! hey, remember, you don't HAVE to get married... and don't EVER settle for less for the best! (meaning, don't marry "the Nine".) i was so excited that you & my dear friend lady noted each other! you two are my favorite diary-pals so i want you to get along! yay! <3!
from alwaysthere :
That whole marriage thing is terrifying, but at the same time kind of reassuring. Just knowing that the whole dating thing will be over (I've yet to enjoy it)... but then there is the whole question of settling that drives me nuts! Would I be settling? Or am I just being realistic?? The whole thought throws me into such a tizzy that I just try and avoid it all together. ::sigh::
from ladygoodman :
aw, yr note was a very nice way to start off new years day - thank you. vintagegrrrl talks about you a lot too...so i'll have to read a little bit of you and see what all the fuss is about. ;) xox
from fuschiashock :
number thirteen - why just when biting their lips, why not always? if i made a list i'd just have women in general.
from starsforarms :
ah! you have a cheerios bee pez dispenser!! AH! im SO jealous! i'll trade you that for ET? oh, and thanks for the link to your photos! i didnt get a chance to write back before i left work that day! your list of things rocks! hard! x
from trixiepup :
ah, but i would tend to argue that the milk left after a bowl of peanut butter cap'n crunch can beat fruit loops milk anyday....and i'm glad someone else out there can share greyhound stories now......have a happy new year!
from bonkersquipy :
hey...i'm just sitting here listening to norah jones, which i know you like terribly, and just felt compelled to wish you a happy new year...and i hope that your trip home was good for the soul...and that you feel good about no longing pining over someone...its taken me quite a long time to get to that same point...and i almost feel like a new person...well...just thought i would wish you well...i'm glad to know you are back...happy new year...
from alwaysthere :
p.s. the 26th is my mom's birthday too. Not quite sure why I felt the need to share that bit of information, but all the same... hope your's was happy...
from alwaysthere :
Franny and Zooey is one of my all time favorites, Iago was definitely poorly cast in "O," I am so jealous that you live in Washington (My grandmother lives in Yakima and I've spent many months there over the years), and, oh yes, Happy New Year.
from vintagegrrrl :
HaPpY BiRtHdAy BrYaN!
from starsforarms :

from starsforarms :

from vintagegrrrl :
"yes, a group called pflag, parents and friends, of lesbians and gays." "oh, p'flag! i'm beginning to like the sound of that!" "this has been a pre-enactment of events that are about to take place!"
from vintagegrrrl :
how cute you are, bryan! heehee, i'm all flustered talking to you now! hee!
from vintagegrrrl :
b - what the eff???? i was so excited to see your pics - and then the link didn't work! color me disappointed... oh, and merry effin christmas, by the way!
from alwaysthere :
I appreciate the comments. In return, I browsed through your diary. You said, "Yay for me..." in one entry, and seeing as "yay for _______" is one of my favorite phrases I will add you to my buddy list and make sure to check up on you from time to time. Nice to know you're reading...
from starsforarms :
oh. i am a yahoo member. but thats cool :) x
from ugotsoul :
Oh no sadness here!! I don't see it as something that happened to me persay... more of an experience that I'm greatful for... because it's changed me in a positive way... y' know? :)
from starsforarms :
hey that yahoo link doesnt work for me x
from mydyingbeta :
hey, i added you to my favorites as well! you are very deep and perceptive. anyway have a merry christmas, i look forward to reading more of your diary in the future!
from vintagegrrrl :

from mydyingbeta :

from starsforarms :

from bonkersquipy :

from vintagegrrrl :
merry christmas and happy birthday! i'll miss your updates, bryan!
from sampsman :
hey, thanks for reading my entrails. just wanted to say happy b-day, I too am a December 26th kid.
from vintagegrrrl :
"maybe the world is going straight to hell..." hahahaha! bryan, have i mentioned lately how much i <3 you?!?!?! hoobastank.... WTF is a hoobastank (besides a band), anyway?
from starsforarms :
bryan-youre so fucking cool it hurts. x
from captivated- :
You know southwest and northwest airlines is only 169.00, and you'll get there 100 times faster.
from madelaine :
thank you much for the encouragement on the finals, i do believe it helped (except for the french one...those snarky french professors...bah!). i don't know how often i'm going to be able to check in, but i shall listen to my decemberguy mixed tapes on my way to and from work everyday during rush hour and think of how amazingly cool you are ;). have a wonderful christmas and a fun new year!
from vintagegrrrl :
down with mcdonalds AND starfucks! booo!
from echopunk :
Consider this my holla. The Shuggie Otis album is great. He was one of the first to use a drum machine and fully integrate it with his songs. The only Jam I have is the Compact Snap album (CD). I know a vinyl place that has all their albums, but I'm afraid people will touch them at school, so I don't know if it's worth the investment. I can burn you Shuggie Otis if you'd like...This is my email: [email protected]. oK then. ~j
from echopunk :
Thank you, good sir. I perused your words and enjoyed them as well. Hey, do you think maybe possibly we could do a burn and trade thing? I would absolutely adore having a copy of that Jam cd. Tell me what you like and I'll tell you what I have. ~j
from vintagegrrrl :
i think corin is waaay hotter than carrie. Btw: their music is much more fascinating that the girls themselves! jenny lewis: troop beverly hills, brooklyn bridge, friendship in vienna, the wizard, foxfire, etc...
from chuzzlewit :
I hope that you and B have a fun pseudo-date! :)
from vintagegrrrl :
no!!! no tape yet! i think my local postal worker must've snitched it...
from vintagegrrrl :
i think you mean a sarcophagus. i looked it up, lady was right, you're wrong, nyah nyah!!!! (sticks tongue out)
from vintagegrrrl :
i'm glad you are in <3 with B again - that other girl was no good for you, i could feel it. p.s. i am still waiting for my tape, and i still haven't got around to mailing yours!
from madelaine :
thank you very much; i had a great thanksgiving. i hope you had a good one as well...i have about ten days of diary entries to catch up on...more procrastination!
from bonkersquipy :
i have enjoyed your diary entries of late...the kind laden with small simple words that carry lots of emotional write..i dont know...i guess it is because i'm drawn to confessional lyrics and people who are confessional and dont bullshit...it is nice to read people's words that are their thoughts...it lets more in...lets people envelope them more into their minds...learn more from them...i guess i'm just saying..good job with letting go and writing it all down...it is difficult sometimes...hope you have a good turkey day...
from blots :
you intrigue me.
from starsforarms :
that dms project was funny as hell! thanks for posting that link bryan! x
from fuschiashock :
thanks.
from ugotsoul :
thank you love... you're absolutely sweet... and yes... Time baby III... if only I had more time to write about it all.. thanks again... So when will we see your fabu smile go up?
from madelaine :
i have no idea what's going on in the dream world. i do miss home, but my mom, not my dad. so i dunno. i am very much looking forward to breaks, though, so i can listen to your mixtapes again. after the attempted murder of the mixtapes by lindsey's stereo, i have decided to prolong the pleasure (i guess i'm a glutton for punishment, or something) until i get home in december or at my friend's house for thanksgiving. i find it better to listen to music in my own room, without headphones. so i'm waiting, ever so impatiently. and don't worry, i'm a packrat, too, much to the disappoint of my mom. have a great day, decemberguy! -(mad)elaine
from vintagegrrrl :
a ring pop? that is so cute, i just may cry!
from twids :
No, he was going to, but he can't anymore. He's too much of an idiot and the public caught on. He's gonna have to go work for some random think tank for 6 figures a year instead.
from bonkersquipy :
hey i hope you feel better...eventually...i dont know...someone typing that out makes me think that someone is going to say...dude...you never feel better...but i cant help but spread some semblance of good tidings on you...because you're such a sweetheart...so i hope that whatever is going on works out...peace and love...
from vintagegrrrl :
bryan, i hope everything is okay... your diary entries lately have been quite brief. i miss getting my daily dose o' bryan. i can't wait to get my mix tape!!!!
from ugotsoul :
Whew! You've moved around quite a bit! Now why settle all the way up there? Oh and by the way... I don't know if I had mentioned it all ready... but I stumbled onto your note for devallyk... about Ms. Cleo... and I almost peed in my pants laughing... the woman is originally from my old neighborhood... Ha!
from ugotsoul :
Yup! I am... Wow, Washington state... I've never met anyone from those parts... originally from there?
from bonkersquipy :
yeah i'm back for the time being...do you understand the reference to cellar door....a la donnie darko...if you havent seen this movie you need to run out right now and rent it..or buy it...and then might i also recommend the dangerous lives of altar boys...those are my movies of the moment...but anyway..thanks for the note...
from ugotsoul :
Navy? Very cool...where at? oh, and another question... :) did you just turn 24? I'm confused... why did I think your birthday was in December? Hmmm... I'm confused now...
from ugotsoul :
Thank you honey! Hmmm... drama queen you say.... hmmm...
from localaura :
You are waaaaay too nice. Anyway, ghostwriting, you say. See, I only know that fab show called Ghostwriter that used to play on PBS, and I don't know what the word means in any other context. Did you ever see the one where he traveled between 1928 and 1994? That was seriously whacked out shit. I love you, Mr. Funny!
from dominia :
Hey! No worries about going to school after you get out, ok? I took some time off between high school and college and still went and graduated and am all diploma'd up now and stuff. ;)
from tigerlady :
Thanks for the note! I don't know why everyone finds my banner scary. I actually thought that it would be my diary that would scare people, especially the picture of the tiger. ::meow:: /\--/\___//
from bonkersquipy :
by the way...thanks for the love...
from bonkersquipy :
hey...i probably should have mentioned it...but i think i'm going on diaryland hiatus...or something of the sort for a little while...i might be back tomorrow or maybe sometime in the distant future...i just feel that i have lost my way and i'm trying to pick up the pieces and move on...
from vintagegrrrl :
geeze... cheery entry.
from ugotsoul :
Aaahhh... gotcha, okay... oh, and thanks :)... Yeah, I'm a december baby too...
from ugotsoul :
just poking around... & thought I'd tell you I'm startin to dig your diary... nice read... but I'm curious... why "december" guy?
from vintagegrrrl :
i love every band you mentioned! did i ever tell you the drummer from the toasters kissed me (on the cheek) at a show once?
from madelaine :
the more notes, the merrier, i say. thanks, decemberguy!
from starsforarms :
tripping daisy as a whole were awesome (and them being from these parts, i have been MUCH exposed to the likes of 'em) ...but yes, those songs especially are greatness!!!! x
from vintagegrrrl :
Dodgeball rules. Much better than BASEBALL!
from twids :
Woohoo! Congrats!
from madelaine :
congratulations on the promotion!
from vintagegrrrl :
"it's no big deal, the old manager tried to kill herself by eating a whole pot of pointsettias..." [doing a "celebration zoom" with my video camera...]
from dominia :
Hey Guy! I am enjoying your diary muchly. Thanks for writing. :)
from wind-pony :

from plume :

from bonkersquipy :

from bonkersquipy :
you know what dude...i'm from anaheim...home of the devils...ahem i mean angels...and the used to be rams...i've met all the players and have many of their autographs...but its strange becasue they always have that choke mechanism...i just think its funny that you like my home town team...that is all...
from wind-pony :
..Hey there.. I kinda nosed my way around your Diary at first because of your name. My Birthday is in December and well.. Common factor, I guess, right? But lo and behold... you're fomr the saem town O.O Kinda scary, I have to say... but cool, also. Like those Fishies with a print on their tail to look like an eye. hehehe, Anyway, just thought I'd say "hi" to another Conroe-ian. I seriously thought the world would be bigger than this.. ~Wind-Pony
from caprihype :
hey there decemberguy, just passing through and read a few of your entries, i find you quite interesting and share some views along the way. you can email sometime at [email protected], if not i will still read your thoughts. also great music too. ok well toodles. oh my name is Rebecca. have a good day.
from starsforarms :
incredibly funny you watched V! incredibly! x
from twids :
Hmmmm...the chick sounds fishy to me, but then, you know my luck with dating. Maybe give her one more chance this weekend? But if she grabs that girlfriend, or anyone else for that matter, for more than two minutes, go home and lose her numbah. :)
from margeeolio :
Decemberguy, I like your entry, I think that we do need to look at what is good in the world, that if we look ourside ourselves for just a second we will relize that we have it SO MUCH BETTER than A LOT of people. I do differ, however, in that I think the good things are the things that havent been invented over the past thirty years, things like nature and those things that re really imporant, like realtionships, connection, talking, listening, and just recognizing the simularites with our fellow human beings :)
from vintagegrrrl :
well, my diary is safe from cynical blather about the world, since i never really talk about anything of major importance in the world. in the words of Good Morning Grant: "you know my rules for Video View - light & perky!"
from madelaine :
two tapes! wow! wonderful! i can't wait! (can you tell i'm excited?!?!)
from twids :
Dude, right there with ya. Ixnay on the emationcray. And take that can off the playstation, for the love of Steve.
from ritorna-me :
glad that you came by to leave a note.. just got done doing some up dates on my profile.. thought I would see if anyone left me any notes.. and you surely did! :) well, I think I might have to add you to my faves list.. I don't just read anyones diary from beginning to end in one night.. ;)
from vintagegrrrl :
"I've never seen that. I've never seen anybody drive their garbage down to the street and then bang the hell out of it with a stick. I've never seen that!
from vintagegrrrl :
hey, bryan, watch out for Zeke the Plumber... oh and come visit me down here so i can make you a soy latte!
from ritorna-me :
I just read your whole diary, and I must say I'm addicted.. "You don't have to be so nice" by the loving spoonful is probably one of my fave songs of all time.. everytime I hear that on the radio I blare it really loud.. not really a song to blare really loud.. but I do it anyway! well, hope to hear from you.. :) I will be back to read more..
from bonkersquipy :
its funny...because the new me is just the old me trying to pass...
from bonkersquipy :
okay i was totally going to say this sooner...but norah jones is awesome and i totally agree with you...shes very beautiful...and shes ravi shankars daughter...how can you not have musical talent with him as a father...
from bonkersquipy :
thanks for you message..this way at least i'm not alone when people tell me that they feel sorry for me..and i also feel like a bad person because i back away from people...but your note made me feel a little better...thanks a lot...
from madelaine :
this computer person was no way cool enough to have offerend mentos. then, i would have appreciated her somewhat more. can't wait for the mixtape! thanks!
from vintagegrrrl :
haha! well, you can tell matt that i live & die for the moz - and so do millions of other girls (and guys). as for moz, he is celibate, so he's not really concerned about getting laid. lumbergh eh? "yeeeah, if you could just take care of the roach problem while you're down here, that would be greaaat."
from vintagegrrrl :
hey, B - i forgot to tell you before, but since starting to read your diary, i think of you every time i see office space! since i have no clue as to what you really look like, i picture you looking like "peter gibbons."
from starsforarms :
ack! the new heather nova album blows ass! its too pop for my taste, but of course i have the us edition, the uk edition, the japanese edition, and all the singles from it. ah, the life of a collector... x
from vintagegrrrl :
yay! you're back! i am so glad you got your template back to normal without having to wait for my pathetic arse. i'm also glad you didn't have to change your name - a diary by any other name would never smell as sweet! p.s. i AM gonna revolutionize "good morning, grant"!
from starsforarms :
im glad to see you back. im also sorry to hear about your recent troubles on the homefront. stop by for some nice refreshments and cool beverages anytime... x
from twids :
Woohoo! Back in a flash, this Bryan kid! So glad to see you revived and fulla words. Tally ho!
from trixiepup :
okay, I will add my agreement to ms. bonk's and madelaine's....please let me know what your new name is when you get one, I thought it was just my computer acting up, so thanks for the note (and the compliment =o) )
from madelaine :

from starsforarms :

from vintagegrrrl :
i am hella sad for you, bryan. what an enormous loss. boo. i can email you a copy of your code for your old template, i never deleted it from my pc. let me know either way...
from twids :
I'm so glad you said something! I thought I was going nuts! Do write when you get a new name...you can't cut me off now!!
from bonkersquipy :
when i sat down...i felt like saying something...but when my fingers hit the keys...i saw the words fly away from me...so i'm stuck here trying to remember what it was...well...anyway...i suppose i should just end this and say that i just felt like dropping you a note...just because...
from vintagegrrrl :
no.effin.way. she knew ethan?!?!? ethan was the only reason i have ever watched survivor! i absolutely abhor the show, but sat through a couple episodes for him!
from starsforarms :
psst...i LOVE frida khalo. shes my all time favorite painter. brilliantly disturbing.x
from madelaine :
decemberguy, you rock! of course, i'd love a mixed tape. let me know your email address so i can send you my snail mail address. thanks! if i haven't told you already, you rock!
from madelaine :

from mllerewind :
Alice is an amazing album, no? I do so enjoy it. I like your new template, although maybe I am stupid because didn't you use to have a guestbook? I can't find a link to it now, although I am well known for looking directly at something and not seeing it.
from vintagegrrrl :
ok, decemberguy, i promise i will get to helping you with your template problems! i haven't forgotten, just been ultra-busy! hopefully tomorrow...
from starsforarms :
the beachwood sparks rock. and so do you. (god. shoot me.)
from madelaine :
nice template, decemberguy.
from vintagegrrrl :
okay, decemberguy.... i like your new template, BUT (uh-oh!): you need a title for your page, a link to your profile, and also, i can tell you how to make your "older" page appear, but not here because it would take too much space up (like i am so fond of doing...) anyway, email me, [email protected] and i will email you back with a copy of your html and how to fix it. but i'll be away this weekend so not till next week!
from vintagegrrrl :
normally i don't approve of song lyrics being the sole content of an entry, but that's one of my favorite BT songs, so it's okay. (aren't you relieved!)
from bonkersquipy :
thanks i'm glad you liked it...
from twids :
Hee! Joyce Hyser...good stuff. I can't believe anyone else saw that movie! I've seen it like 12 times (sue me, I'm a cable addict and can watch the worst or the best just as many times). And Solypsist...whatdja think???
from vintagegrrrl :
hi decemberguy, i'm up in vancouver, wa right now... i was going to tell you to go see watsonville patio at dante's in portland tomorrow night, but i looked up your city on mapquest and realized you live almost 200 miles away. ohhhhh, well. nice enty, by the way! (pete & pete is being played on the-n, it seems like it's always on.)
from bonkersquipy :

from starsforarms :

from twids :
Nice to be "found" by another Corso/Hank Rollins fan...spanks a bunch.

from fuschiashock :
&i was kind of disappointed with one chord to another. smeared is my favourite.
from fuschiashock :
thank you so much!!
from vintagegrrrl :
no, your feedback was great! i love feedback, it's nice to know someone cares (tear in my eye!) too bad about the im-ing at work. have you ever seen a movie called "office space"? you would either laugh or cry...
from devallyk :
Cheers for the favourites tag, chief. Hope I can keep you laughing.
from drawingflies :
thank you so much for the note. i can't believe anyone reads that crap. it made my how night. thanks so much. well i am off to read your diary now... hee hee hee...
from madelaine :
thank you very much for the birthday wish. and believe me, i'm having more than just one drink. ;)
from bonkersquipy :
you really appear to be a super sweet guy...i hope things are going well for you in your new apartment...and that you find that person you are looking for...
from vintagegrrrl :
thanks for the warm birthday wishes! are you online right now? if you are sign into yahoo messenger and write me a note, yo!
from madelaine :
it's not a false impression of coolness you get by listening to the dandy warhols, my friend; it's a true one. rock on!
from madelaine :
be assured, the advice you've proffered was not unwarranted; in fact, it's much appreciated. and let me clarify: not ALL guys are jerks. i know one (maybe two) who aren't. but the majority in my personal frame of reference are less than exemplary. thanks for the note!
from vintagegrrrl :
so i would like to enlighten you on the topic of "the state" but is this to become a reality? i put you on my yahoo messenger list but alas, you are never online when i am. maybe i'll write about it in my diary, if you're lucky. otherwise go to my links page and find out for yourself! p.s. my new goal in life is to DOMINATE your message board! muahahaha!
from vintagegrrrl :
i have a WEIRD story for you: you know how today you changed your qoute to "patience is like bread..." well about a minute after i saw your new profile (which is weird because i dont often look at it), i turned on my Launch radio station and the first song it played was that song ("it's about time")!!! pretty amazing, considering that (a) the song is 9-ish years old and (b) it wasn't even a big hit. what an odd, odd coincidence...
from starsforarms :
hi. i loved what you signed in my guestbook!!! i feel somewhat honored that you said what you did...thank you.....x
from mllerewind :
You wouldn't believe how many people actually know that that movie was that Incredible Mr. Limpet. I'm amazed, and actually a bit heartened, by the fact that America seems to have such a grasp of the works of Don Knotts. Cookies all around. Thanks for the compliments, I quite enjoy your diary thus far as well, and I will, oh yes, be back. By the way, I might just love you because you love The Stranger. No, no really.
from wagesofsin :
ditto to you. clem snide AND beautiful girls? you rock, sir. thanks for reading.
from madelaine :
it was nice of you to say that i'm funny; i think more often than not i amuse myself more than others. and that sucks about the car, too...i wish you luck (important pieces of the engine, like the alternator, fall out of my car while in use); i hope your car will be better than my oh so beloved tito (bonkersquipy named him). later!
from bonkersquipy :
okay i sent it you a password...you should get it...and if not i'll send it again...sorry about that..and thanks for asking if i was all right...thats sweet of you...later
from somatic :
I noticed your Troy Dyer comment in your profile and had to leave a note... Every guy I've ever known has been Troy (one even told me he was like Troy, except HE would never have come back). Seriously. If being like that doesn't come naturally to you, thank your lucky stars. : )
from starsforarms :
hey..thanks for the note you left. im gonna keep reading here...x
from bonkersquipy :
well thanks for reading and enjoying it...i'll admit that it does get a bit tedious sometimes...and might i just add that you have a fantastic taste in music and movies...
from bonkersquipy :
hey...thanks for the note...i perused at my leisure your diary and found it quite interesting (but interesting in a good way)...oh god, even on notes i'm a rambler...and i dont even know you...but anyway...just wanted to say thanks for stopping by and thanks for the note...(incidently...how did you find me...if you dont mind me asking)...thanks..
from vintagegrrrl :
hi decemberguy...i like your diary (wow, what an extremely original comment...) hooray for buffalo tom! hooray for troy dyer!
from starsforarms :
psst. i liked your diary. x
from istoba :
Hi. Thank you for leaving a note on my diary. A few people I know joined the navy, air force, army, and marines. None of them liked it, and more than half really dislike it. Hmm. I read your diary entries. You're interesting and I liked the references to candy cane park. I've done many interesting things with great people at candy cane. I also like to take afternoon naps there. Well let's see, you have great movie tastes, music preferences, and I don't know many of the books or authors you mentioned, but that'll make reading them even more crescent fresh shall I find the chance. I'll be reading your entries so add plenty. Cheers. Paul.
