Wow! I love the adventure essay, about selling books to go to the beach. You are an amazing storyteller.

No, I absolutely mean it. Does it sound strange? Aware that much in life is crap, but strong enough to battle through and find the best bits for the kid. Power to you both.

The pleasure is all mine, I promise you. Your diary is hugely inspiring, if that's not too much of a cliché.

Not a tease -- I just screwed up my template a few months ago, lost all of my entries and didn't have time to start over. Thanks for reminding me -- I just posted my first new entry of the year!

I'm impressed by your positive attitude. So much of what you describe reminds me of my own experience when I first moved to Portland.

I'm late for thanking you for the comment in my diary. I have to ask what in the hell TVP is? I'm using soy burger substitute in taco's, etc and my 3 girls don't know the difference.

that scene where she is water skiing and yells "you dirty louse!" had my brother and me asking my mom "what's a dirty louse?"... and my mother promptly gasping and telling us it was a bad word and to never say it again. for years i thought the word louse was the equivalent of fuckface or cuntrag or some other equally horrible word. but yeah. ludes 4-eva.

one year at christmas we flew to texas to be with my grandparents. this is always a monstrous ordeal, but it was made worse this year because we flew IN on christmas eve, and OUT the day after christmas day. Can you imagine how chaotic the airports were? So. On the way there, we lost our luggage. The luggage that had all the presents in it. I was 9, my brother was 7. So my parents had to go x-mas shopping ON christmas eve. So all the presents were shitty. Then, on the way back home, all our flights got cancelled and we had to sleep in the Houston airport on the floor. While running in a vain effort to catch another flight the next day, my mom had a nervous breakdown and started weeping in the middle of the airport while we all huddled around her. We got home days later, exhausted. There wasn't really a happy ending, except that we all were still alive and I did get a mildly cool Nancy Drew secret diary. Was that depressing enough for you? It sure as hell was depressing for US.

Hello, Ms. Dorkfysh. I am seeing your name all OVER this here diaryland. And that's as it should be. I too love the japanese import store. Have you seen the soda that you have to push the marble into before you can drink it? Very insane. And, ma'am, please to tell me more NKOTB stories. For instance: WAS donnie ever at the donuts shop? Please say yes.

I do want to hear more stories! Fill your diary with NKOTB stories! Fill my guestbook with them! I still can't stop thinking about the E! Celebrity Profile! Also, that's fun to type: E!

i really like the way you write, the way you use words. it takes you one sentence to say something it would take most people a paragraph to say-- the first sign of being a really good writer. take care. bye

oooh...the baby ache. It comes and goes. It just feels really powerful and biological, way down deep. Sometimes little kids make me want to cry, but then realistically my brain is like, "come on, you can't do that right now, "and I say, "yeah yeah, I know." It's like, I don't even know if I EVER WANT KIDS AT ALL, but I have this painful ball of longing in my chest and my tummy....I don't know, man. I don't remember you from the hipmama reading, but I'm glad we were there together! A big part of why I went was to get a glimpse of Inky...I've been reading the East Village Inky for a long time and that's how I found out about the hipmamas, and I got really inspired. I also read Breeder and all that....it's so cool. The reading made me feel happy. Whoa! Long message!

oh dorkfysh! I love your diary so much! I wrote about you in my diary because I was sad you didn't have a guestbook, but then my friend simoncamden told me about this place! So here I am. I love Ween too. So much. And I am still struggling with the baby-ache. When does one succumb? I do not know. I love reading about the kid. And the wedgies.

You're bookmarked now too, sweetie. And thanks for your note. My cat will have to be the stand-in for Asta, for now. She too is no help whatsoever in catching criminals.

I love your writing. I too have wasted a morning petting the cat and listening to Etta James. Especially when the weather changes as it has. (stormy weather?)
