Thanks for adding me on fb. :) Are you going to keep this diary here and update it once and awhile, or just lock it and leave it? I have kept mine and am forwarding to it, but might keep it in case of wanting to put a little update in or something....who knows. Love your new blog!!!
from lindzeeleigh :
I would love to see the video as well and you can definitely add me to fb. :) lindzeeleigh AT hotmail DOT com.
from alicesbaby :
I tried to email you but the link from your diary has an email address that didn't work :( I would love to add you as a Facebook friend (and see that ever-so-cute-sounding video of Colin!), but didn't want to leave my surname here. My email is [email protected]! xx
from lindzeeleigh :
Glad to hear you had such a quiet, restful morning. I think it is awesome that you have your tea in a nice fancy tea cup. I should start to do that as well, it is a great idea. I'll hope you come visit me in my new blog home: http://allingoodtiming.blogpsot.com :)
from lindzeeleigh :
Hmm, fertility has returned huh?? Does that mean that you are going to get busy trying to make baby #4 now?? Teehee!! :P
from wunderwuman :
Good for you! I look forward to your recepies... I'm am majorly interested in eliminating or at least seriously cutting back on meat as it just turns my stomach lately. More the thought that the actual eating of it. Sadly, Steve is NOT of the same mind, and feels that meat is the "meal" and everything else is just sides. Also that he can't "be full" if he doesn't eat meat. :( Anyway, good luck! and with the running! I've been reading just not commenting. :)
from lindzeeleigh :
I love that story about Ewan and the punch-line. That is tooo cute! :)
from greenergrass :
wow - exciting. as for us births, there's no draft in the u.s. now and i don't think it's anywhere on the agenda. who knows what 19 years will bring - but i doubt the elites of america would be okay with a draft even then, so i suspect you're safe. besides if he's dual he could also dodge up in canada! ;-)
from lindzeeleigh :
Oooh, lots of news going on in your world. :) I would say choose your renters carefully or you may come home to a disaster of a house! I have no idea about having a son who might have to serve if he had dual citizenship, but then you might have a girl and it won't even matter! That is so exciting that you are thinking of officially trying again soon!! :)
from greenergrass :
Yay - I've been missing your words! Ew to sinus infections.
from lindzeeleigh :
Thanks for the smoke signal! Hope you are feeling better soon! I have had sinus infections before and they feel like someone has punched you in the face, so I know what you are feeling. Take care!
from greenergrass :
Wow - so sorry to hear about Tom. That's terrible... and your hand. Ugh... sounds like a rough week.
from lindzeeleigh :
Wow. That is a lot to take in. I am sorry to hear that news. :( I agree with you 100% when you said it is one thing to be done with someone who wasn't good for you, but another now that that person is no longer here. Thinking of you. xo
from lindzeeleigh :
Mmm! Now you have made me want ice cream! Hehe. I love that the boys went tobogganing for the first time. What fun! I haven't done that in so long. Enjoy your date night!
from greenergrass :
wow - how exciting! good luck on that - i'm starting to get itchy feet too - have never in my LIFE lived somewhere more than 4 years, and we are now into 4.5 here! crap!
from lindzeeleigh :
Oh wow! Good luck with the possible change in cities, er, countries! I don't know much about SC, but warmer definitely sounds better!
from wunderwuman :
Wow, gulp indeed! Good luck, I hope you find what works best for you guys... in this kind of weather, SC sounds fairly inviting I must say...
from lindzeeleigh :
Too funny, you're dreaming of the red river and I am hoping not to get mine! Hope it all turns out well. Good luck at the dentist, poor little man!
from greenergrass :
congrats on the walking! amazing! need to get him over here to show LM a few tricks... LOL.
from wunderwuman :
I'm going to be locking up... email me at [email protected] if you would like the password :)
from lindzeeleigh :
Wife of the year already!? Wow! Look at you go. I am impressed! Good job little C! He is sure starting things off early. I will cross my fingers for more sleep!
from wunderwuman :
Wow! I can't BELIEVE he's 11 months, let alone walking... also, congrats for wife of the year already, that means you've got 11 months to coast, hahaha :) Do you have recommendations for pre-schoolish stuff to do with a two and a half year old?
from lindzeeleigh :
Wow, look at you go! You have gotten so much done, you are making me look bad! :P I love that you wrote "wreck" room at the end of the entry, that is awesome!! :)
from lindzeeleigh :
I have changed my password, Michelle. I would love for you to still keep reading, if you like! You can email me at lindzeeleigh AT hotmail DOT com. :)
from lindzeeleigh :
Happy 2009! :) I love the end of your entry about the gift Ian gave you. That made me heart melt it was so special. I have a feeling there is going to be one more little one to join your family! ;) So exciting!!
from greenergrass :
Ah - that sounds lovely. Merry Christmas to you!
from arthursmummy :
Your Christmas plans sound lovely! I hope you all have a wonderful day. I hope I get a Toblerone too! Mmmm... :)
from lindzeeleigh :
Merry Christmas!! Glad everything is going so well with the holidays for you so far. :) I like the story about the boys' Christmas concert, too funny. Enjoy your time with your family.
from wunderwuman :
Growing up, Santa assembled and displayed our gifts, while the rest were wrapped. It was awesome coming down and seeing things unwrapped. In our house now, Santa wraps, but still assembles. Easier to play with immediately, I feel. Also, cudos on the budget and cutting down. I am fighting a constant battle against "stuff" and have realized the same thing: other people won't stop, so we can control by cutting back. It's hard though, especially when everything's bought. Also, Steve's family is coming and they go WAYYYY excessive, so Steve feels the girls need to have equal stuff as his younger brother (7) under the tree. I feel a 2yo and 6mo don't notice those things. Anyhoo!
from lindzeeleigh :
I am sorry that you feel betrayed by a friend. :( That is an awful feeling. I hope she realizes it soon so you can work through out. And how is Colin 10 months old?!?! Yeesh!
from poisonwood :
My sister is supposed to head to Mumbai in a couple weeks - I know how you feel. She's also the type who's rather reckless with her safety.
from wunderwuman :
I know what you mean about your commitments being brushed off. Is it because we are the primary care-givers to the kids, of because the income is secondary, I don't know. Good luck anyway, and hope you feel better soon.
from lindzeeleigh :
Happy Birthday to you!! :)
from marlen816 :
Happy Birthday!
from lindzeeleigh :
I DID switch from Alesse to Aviane! Can you tell me anything more about this or any experience you may have had?? Thanks, Michelle.
from lindzeeleigh :
When you figure out how one does get their shit together and get it together quickly, let me know. I need some serious help in that area as well!!
from lindzeeleigh :
Have fun at the wedding! It will all come together in the end and I know you'll do a great MOH speech! :)
from wunderwuman :
Wow BC! How exciting... I've been wondering where you've been lately. Good to get a "real" entry from you :)
from greenergrass :
wow - coquitlam! go go go! :-)
from greenergrass :
man - 3 a.m.! I thought sleep troubles were supposed to get better. i've got lots of admiration for you mama!
from lindzeeleigh :
Military school it is! Sounds like you have had quite a rough night AND day. I hope you are able to squeeze in a nice bath with some tea tonight. You deserve it!!
from wunderwuman :
I swear I saw your twin yesterday. A woman out for dinner with her three appropriately aged boys and hubby. If I hadn't known for sure that you were by no way in New Brunswick, I *totally* would have gone over and said hello, hah.
from lindzeeleigh :
Sounds like an um, interesting weekend to say the least! I hope you can get caught up soon!
from bluecharis :
Glad to hear you're still alive and quite okay as well... Wishing you sweet and undisturbed dreams! Love, Charis :-)
from lindzeeleigh :
I hope you get a little less busy soon!!
from wunderwuman :
Let us know how the bottle-taking (or lack there-of) went. I've tried Avent, Gerber Nuk (same shaped nipple as her soother), Playtex and a glass one called Born Free. Staunch refusal. Steve is convinced that if we just keep at it, she'll take one eventually. Neither of us will let her get into hysterics, and he passes her off once it's obviously not going to work. I suspect she might have this little trick figured out and knows that crying at a bottle will bring forth a breast... sigh. Anyway, hope things are going well, it's been a while since you posted. :)
from greenergrass :
Congrats to you on the nurse-in! We had a similar event here at H&M. I wasn't able to attend the nurse-in as I was out of town, but I did my own mini-one at the H&M where I was staying. Shameful! Great for you that you were all able to attend. Good luck with the frequent wakings and the no bottle taking - sounds like LM and Meatball are kindred spirits!
from lindzeeleigh :
I didn't know The Verve had a new album! Thanks for the heads up, i am going to check it out. I hope tomorrow goes better for you and I hope you had fun with your friend when you went for tea! :)
from lindzeeleigh :
That was a great article and I like that Ian was mentioned! :) I think it is important the people stand up for their rights, including the right to breastfeed. I just went to a movie two nights ago and my friend nursed her two month old baby and no one said a word. Shouldn't it be the norm to breastfeed our babies when they are hungry? We all eat in public! Go Michelle, you rock! :) I am glad you are feeling better....I myself was not feeling topnotch this morning and though I might throw up, but I didn't. [Thank goodness because I despise throwing up...] :S
from lindzeeleigh :
I am glad everything went well with the shower! And that is so nice that the bride took you out for all your hard work, that was great of her. :) I am sorry to hear about Ian's job, I hope his position will not get cut. :( Thinking of you!
from camham :
I would have been very offended had anyone asked me to pay for anything at my bridal shower. In my opinion, the favors are simply additional little decorations that should go with the theme of the party (which the shower party is putting on) and the bride should have nothing to do with any of it. Just my take. I think all the bridal shower party should just keep it low key and everyone should just get their portion of the party "stuff". Also, I don't think I have posted here before, but I appreciated the letter you posted from the doctor regarding VBAC. I am on a journey to VBAC at home with a midwife and finding many hurdles along the way. It is truly not fair! Feel free to read me if you have the time. Heather P.S. I am locked so if you want to read, email me [email protected]
from lindzeeleigh :
I know I am probably totally late on the advice giving, but here it is anyways. I believe etiquette-wise the people throwing the shower are the ones responsible for the favours and things like that. I did not pay for the favours at my wedding shower, my "bridesmaids three" split it all up. Good luck! [Or should I say I hope it went well?!]
from greenergrass :
hm - tough call on the favours. as a bride, honestly, I did not pay for the favours at my shower; I wasn't really involved with organising it at all. I guess I just viewed it as a party being thrown in my honour, not by me (unlike the wedding). I'd have been a little weirded out if I'd been approached, although obviously I would have been happy to contribute too if I thought my BMs were already out-of-pocket a lot... not sure on this one.
from miss-katie :
Advice: avoid being in weddings. But as it is too late for that, is there anybody (or anybodies) who seems have extra cash that you can talk about splitting the expense with? You could put it in terms of everybody else is financially pinched, could you help me out with this so nobody feels bad, etc.
from lindzeeleigh :
I don't agree with Morgentaler getting the award at all because it is not something that is bettering Canada or that all Canadians could agree on. I personally don't believe in abortion, but it is a choice for others to make. However, that aside, he still doesn't deserve the award. I am interested in what you have to say about it as well.
from wunderwuman :
I'm interested to hear what you have to say about Morgentaler... I'm not sure about the award. Personal opinions about abortion aside, I think that article had a point when it said the Order of Canada should reward an individual for contributing something to Canada that *everyone* is proud of. I think the whole abortion issues comes down believing that abortions are wrong, full stop, or that it isn't a matter or right or wrong, but that women have the right to decide their own morals and then make the decision on their own. Not sure how I feel, as I'm torn between the two. Because if women have the right to choose what they do with their bodies, why is prostitution illegal? Isn't it the same reasoning, really? Not that I think prostitution should be legal, but I'm sure you get the drift. So, yes, post more!
from greenergrass :
hm - i support morgentaler's award. i guess i see it the way i see home birth - women's right to control what they do to their bodies. not that i think abortion is right per se, but i think state control of when and where to do it drives women to unsafe alternatives and probably results in worse things happening. but i guess we can agree to disagree on that one. :-) glad you're having a fun pool party-ish summer!
from lindzeeleigh :
I hope Ian's little birthday gathering goes well and that the weather holds out for you! I have emailed you a list of wedding shower ideas so make sure and let me know what you actually get it. :)
from greenergrass :
agh - i'm so sorry about your mother. is there anyway you can convince her to do some sort of cleanse? that often gets rid of the craving for crap. or get at her through your dad? given your previous entries i'm guessing the answer is no... i'm so sorry - i have no answers. love that you can take colin to a movie! i so hope my next little dude is that chilled out. that's awesome.
from lindzeeleigh :
I can email you a bunch of ideas for the bridal shower if you like! I had lots of good ones at mine and other ones i have been to over the years. :)
from lindzeeleigh :
I hope the birth went well and that you are able to get some sleep soon! If I were you, I would absolutely loony from staying up so long!
from wunderwuman :
I've been meaning to leave you a note. I think that talking about anxiety and depression is so important. You never know who else is out there reading your diary who may connect or identify with what you're saying. That's how we get rid of stigmas, is talk talk talk. So kudos to you. And as far as FAM for fertility management goes, be careful. I know three couples who used it as their birth control... and all three got pregnant. :)
from lindzeeleigh :
I have never been on zoloft before [evil effexor instead...] but I have been on alesse for the last [eeek] eight or so years. I seem to do okay on it, but can't wait to go off it in another few months. Have you thought about doing FAM for birth control? [Taking Charge of your Fertility by Toni Weschler] i have been reading about it and have not actually tried it, but i know plenty of people who swear by it and no pills to take! Maybe it's worth looking into if you don't mind the temperature and checking your cervix, etc every day.
from greenergrass :
I'm so sorry you're having anxiety. A big hug!
from lindzeeleigh :
Here's to hoping you get your broke parts fixed. ;) That is awesome that you are seeing all the positive things in your life even though sometiems you may not always feel it when you are anxious. I love that you said you couldn't find a better husband ou there. That is so encouarging to hear because people are divorcing all over the place and it is nice to hear people are still in love with their husbands/wives.
from greenergrass :
hmmm. i need to try those - going through a bit of a nursing strike here that is leaving me pluggy. so much going on in his little life - moving around, cat, laptop, cellphone, eating rice puffs, cat dish, ooh cat again! no time to eat!
from lindzeeleigh :
I hope it doesn't turn into mastitis. :S Eeek. Not a fun way to spend your weekend! Can't wait to hear about the birth. i can't believe you might quit! You are so knowledgable and great at what you do...but you have to do what makes YOU happy. :)
from wunderwuman :
Enjoy your weekend! And I hope that doesn't turn into mastitis!
from greenergrass :
gotta love those bottle-hating babies! i'm sure colin will come around! good luck! :)
from wunderwuman :
Wow!! Good luck and have fun! Also, yay for finding something to wear :)
from wunderwuman :
So I just wanted to say that I looked at your flickr pics and your boys (and 42 week non-stretched belly!!!!) are beautiful!!! Also, was it just the angle, or is Colin very long? I love how Seth and Ewan look so different! I'm gushing :)
from wunderwuman :
I know how you feel about the clothes! Maybe an Empire waisty'y blouse and skirt? It would cover the postpartum belly, and be nursig friendly. However, good luck finding a place age-appropriate. I guess it's what happens when 40 year old moms and 12 year old daughters dress the same, but gah, I hate clothes shopping now. Anyhoo, Hmmm, full moon! I read somewhere that the atmospheric pressure changes that happen during storms cause women to go into labour (desperate much? I know) so I was hoping for thunder, but to no avail. Anyway, longest note ever. Good luck shopping!
from arthursmummy :
Oh dear HEAVENS, the cuteness!!! Thank you so much for the link! :) I watched the whole lot on slideshow round and round and round, gasping like every other photo (even at the before and after house pics, haha!) - they are ALL so adorable, and Seth has to be the prettiest little boy on the planet! I'm boggled that you even have boy #1 with brown eyes and hair, and boy #2 with blue eyes and fair hair (like me!). Love the science lesson in the kitchen ;)
from wunderwuman :
Hah, that's the reaction I kind of expected :) I knew that I had to consent to anything they want to do, but didn't realize I could request a Bishop's Score. Good to know. Also, I thought that breaking waters was the better first step, since it's what the MWs did with Leila. Good point about turning off the pit. I'm hoping I don't get to ten days overdue in any case, and realize that it's not really *that* long, in the grand scheme of things, if baby needs more time. Anyway, I promise I won't make hasty decisions and will have a long chat about it with OB and defend my decision :)
from wunderwuman :
He sounds delicious :) I wonder at times if I'll ever be pregnant again, and a large part of me thinks, no, I won't. But there's that one little piece that can't quite accept that I'll never be here again... Anyhoo, I hope your impending births go well (for the moms and for you). Thanks for the labour vibes, I hope they work. I keep thinking, everything is pointing to "soon" so it can't be much longer.... can it? Except that I know it could be. Sigh, ah well. I just try to revisit those feelings of may never be here again, lol :)
from arthursmummy :
Oh! He sounds scrumptious!! I so long for photos... I think I remember you having a place with photos but I have either forgotten where or lost the password (if there was one). My three boys are different combinations of us too, but different from each other. And my big boys are besotted with Nathan too! We have so many parallels :)
from wunderwuman :
Sounds like a good birth! Hope I'm so lucky :) Are you starting to get the desire back, or not really yet?
from lindzeeleigh :
Happy Mother's Day!! I hope you have a great day with all your boys and that they are very good to you! p.s. All little boys need to learn the pull my finger trick! That is a classic! LoL.
from greenergrass :
hey - hope you're feeling better. and i thought i'd replied on this already, but i can see the appeal of four. i kinda want four myself, just not sure if i can afford the house to accommodate them all! :-)
from lindzeeleigh :
Yikes - I hope you are feeling better soon before all those little ones start coming out!! Thanks for the link to the article about breastfeeding and SIDS, certainly helpful to know, as I plan on breastfeeding when the time comes. :)
from mindfluff :
at this point any and all advice is welcome :) she has been breast feeding today but it takes the whole family to get the job done and i'm not sure how practical this going to be in the long run!
from lindzeeleigh :
I can totally see you with #4! You are a wonderful mom and it would be so great if you could have a little girl, or maybe another boy to round out the pack [then you could almost have a starting line up for a basketball team!] My friend is having her fourth in June and it is exciting!! :) I am still working on and thinking about my first. Good thing i will have expert moms like you to come to!
from mindfluff :
i'm definitely trying to take care of myself while i heal from the c-section. luckily ian is a great help. everyone who has checked my scar says it's healing nicely so hopefully i'll recover quickly and have a very small scar. as for the breast feeding it's definitely one step forward and two steps back. i managed to do two feeds today which went ok (if you ignore the fact that she threw most of one of them up!) but resorted to bottles for the rest. tomorrow we'll try again.
from wunderwuman :
Thanks for all the info! And I'm totally not surprised about the musings for number four. I've already been wondering if this will be it for us (Steve swears yes), but then I think, wouldn't a little boy be such a nice way to round it off? It's these hormones, they make us baby crazy. The more babies we have, the more we want. And also? Three months?? How did that happen so quickly!!
from wunderwuman :
Don't underestimate your anxiety, or be embarassed to talk to somebody about it. And ugh for spanking, as it must be one of the most guilt evoking events. But try not to feel guilty about it. I'm thinking of you and sending love thoughts your way. :)
from wunderwuman :
Exasperation is TOTALLY a normal part of family life, healthy ones included! Sometimes I think back to my childhood and remember my parents being at their complete wits end and snapping and yelling at us. My brothers and I turned out pretty good (if I do say so myself), with a healthy relationship with both our parents and each other to boot! Enjoy the labour basket shopping, and good luck with the boys!!
from greenergrass :
wow - sorryto hear about your mother... thinking of you! gotta go nak.
from lindzeeleigh :
What books didja get?? Enjoy the read in your bath! :)
from wunderwuman :
Yay for spring weather indeed, it makes things soooo much better when you can just get outside. And fresh air really does this magical things to kids, they are more happy AND sleep better! Also, three cheers for worn out kids on a Friday night! Enjoy :)
from lindzeeleigh :
Spring stopping you from killing each other = good!! :) I hope Ian brings you homw a nice treat tonight. Have fun swimming tomorrow!
from lindzeeleigh :
Lol! Sometimes you need a good whine now and then! Everyone is entitled to it, especially a busy mom like you. :)
from lindzeeleigh :
I think you'll really enjoy the quiet time you will get with Colin when the boys are at the program. And they will have fun learning and being with some other kidlets. Sounds all around good to me!
from wunderwuman :
I think that's absolutely adorable that your boys are so "birth oriented" right now. I guess I never realized how profound an experience a new baby is for the whole family. Thanks for the advise, I thought I remembered my MW talking about that last time, but damn the dr's if they ever tell you more than the specific answer to the question you ask. :)
from lindzeeleigh :
Michelle! I am glad that you posted! i have been wondering how you were doing. :) Glad the boys are good. I can't believe Ewan is going to be five! That little man is growing up. By the way, did I tell you I really like the name Ewan??
from wunderwuman :
Just wanted to drop you a little note to let you know I've been thinking about you and trying to send good vibes your way. Hope things are less crazy lately :)
from lindzeeleigh :
Yes, I did see your photos! The boys are sooo cute! Seriousl! I am on flickr too, but I can't figure out how to add you as a friend?! I have never added someone so I am not sure how. LoL.
from built-in :
it's not easy. hugs and more hugs for you. and a huge piece of chocolate cake.
from greenergrass :
Hey - you're a great parent! 2 smart and spirited kids + new baby = really hard. You = human. Don't be so hard on yourself! :-)
from lindzeeleigh :
Yikes! I hope your boys start behaving a little better soon because I am sure they do have very cute faces and would not liked them ripped off!! LoL! My kids at school are driving me nuts too, so you are not alone. I swear it is Spring Fever!!
from greenergrass :
you've got such adorable boys - all three of them... and a gorgeous belly too! what happened to the client's whose child had c. difficile? are they okay?
from lindzeeleigh :
I think you should post some of these pictures of your cute boys! Oh, and I want an invitation to this Cholesterol party! Teehee.
from lindzeeleigh :
Congratulations on baby Colin! That is so exiting and such wonderful news! :)
from marlen816 :
Congratulations! I love the name Colin!
from wunderwuman :
Glad to hear things are going well, and definately looking forward to hearing your birth story. I am making mental notes about not taking Leila's great take to nursing for granted and to remeber to stay educated incase Number 2 is not a "natural". And, ouch, scabs. Also, sad that you can't enjoy the delicious food, but definately worth it if babe would react. He'll have plenty of time to get his palate exposed before he's onto solids anyway! Hope your caboose is healing ok, 9-pounders take some time!!
from greenergrass :
huh - i never heard of shallow latch; i had scabs too; i guess i just thought it was normal! next time i'll have to ask! anyway i'm sure he's absolutely lovely and cute. and i am sending you caboose-healing vibes.
from built-in :
those stinkin' shallow latchers are looky they're cute, eh? ....or that they eventually work their way to cuteness... i feel your pain. merle has just about one week of a decent latch under his belt.
from mamabean :
OY! My Girls flinched and shriveled as I read your description! I remember that so well from when B was born. Empathy empathy empathy. http://foundapnut.blogspot.com
from alicesbaby :
Yay, he's here! Congratulations! I soooo feel for you on the breastfeeding pain - I remember it well from Arthur's early weeks. I hope he learns quickly and it improves soon for you! And the sleep - ohhh the sleep. Struggling here with that, too. Hang in there!
from bluecharis :
CONGRATULATIONS!! Geez, I'm glad this kid finally decided to make his appearance! :-)) LOVE the names, too! Get lots of rest, sweetie and all the best for you and your family! Love, Charis :-))
from wunderwuman :
Congrats! Love the name, I thought you would go with Felix :) Hopefully such a big boy is hungry and nursing well.
from greenergrass :
ahhhh! so exciting. i knew he would be colin! sounds like he made you wait, but once his mind was made up he wasted no time! lots of happy, healing healthy vibes mama. congrats! i'll eagerly await some pics of the little dude.
from mamabean :
Awwwwwwww! Congratulations - I hope you recover quickly and enjoy every minute of Colin's first few days.
from coppersky :
Congratulations! Many blessings for you and your baby.
from alicesbaby :
Madly refreshing here too! Hope all is well :)
from greenergrass :
madly... refreshing...
from marlen816 :
Praying for you and the baby!
from mamabean :
Oh yay! Progress! I hope things have moved along quickly and you have your sweet new boy all bundled up in your arms right now!
from greenergrass :
ahhh! exciting. sorry about clueless techs and pushy obs, but sounds like you have passed those hurdles and are well on your way! can't wait for the next post! will be madly refreshing! :)
from alicesbaby :
Oooh I'm ssssooooo excited!!!! It's 2am here but I'm breastfeeding so happened to be up late enough to see your entry! Yay for popping bags, hehe! Late-night nursing also gives me mucho opportunity to be praying for various intricate details of your labour and birth during the night, so I'm doing that! I hope things are kicking in nicely already, and that you'll be holding you new boy in your own bed by 8am, not exhausted in a hospital. Can't wait for the update!!! :)
from greenergrass :
Guess this little guy is going to test your patience right from the start! Glad the NST went well and that all is fine with the birth planning. And congrats to you for sounding so level-headed in this hormonal time!
from lindzeeleigh :
I am impressed wtih how at peace you are with everything and with how even minded you are. Good for you! I don't know if I would be. Your lil' guy is going to come out when he is good and ready and I look forward to hearing all about it [and him and you!] when I return home next week!
from wunderwuman :
Ugh, those well meaning phone calls are one of the most stressful parts of being overdue! I eventually stopped answering the phone unless it was Steve or my mom, no lie. Anyhoo, good for you for knowing your plans and wanting to stick to it. I hope all goes well (and soon?) and you're very lucky that Ian is not only on board with your plan, but also not interested in a medical induction, since that seems to be the last thing you want. Good luck!
from lindzeeleigh :
p.s. I sent you an email to your ebombmom hotmail account, so let me know if you get it. :)
from lindzeeleigh :
I hope you will have your little guy sometime this upcoming weekend. Hope all goes well for you. :)
from greenergrass :
aahh! your post brings back so many memories of that period right before LM's birth - unwanted advice, hermit mode, trying to keep serene. sounds like you're very close!
from lindzeeleigh :
Hey! i just wanted to let you know I added you as a fave...I began reading you through Grass or Kaitlyn, I can't remember who and I have been popping by ever since. Thought I would delurk and say hello. Hope baby comes soon! p.s. If you would like to pop in and read me I can send you my un and pw. :)
from greenergrass :
Thinking of you! Can't wait to hear how it goes.
from greenergrass :
Aha - that's something I would do. My advice says acknowledge it, but in reality I would just say something like "Aw... what a pretty name for a pretty girl" which she could then interpret as either "oops, sorry i put my foot in it," or as "oh she doesn't even remember her earlier comment - was probably just a random rant." The one that bugs me is Finn - don't know if it's popular where you are but there are about 3 of them in every mommy's group I go to, or some variation. It's not unique if every other kid in the city has the same name!
from wunderwuman :
haha, it totally is overdone. Anyhoo, maybe just race to her how Ava is the absolute most beautiful little girl you've ever seen blah blah blah, and that will make you feel better? Although, I'm sure she's long since over it, and realy who cares at the end of the day what other people think about your name choices? They're your kids. Although it's the same as Connor .There will be a lot of Avas dating a lot of Connors in 20 years. And if you're planning on manig your boy Connor, just ignore that last sentence. And by the way, do we get a preview of the short list?
from greenergrass :
Hmmm - well that would be a terribly difficult decision to make, but one of the main reasons to do intact dilation and extraction is that you don't have to go through labour. I honestly cannot imagine having to go through childbirth on a maternity ward in that situation - we have a friend who did just that. Also I could see how some people might opt for a quick surgical death in utero rather than putting the fetus through the trauma of trying to breathe - guess we'll never know what the "right" choice is there. A decision I hope I never have to make.
from wunderwuman :
What is the weight limit of 5 point? 40 lbs? We are only at 24 lbs, so I don't know...
from greenergrass :
Wow - wiggly baby. Hope he settles in!! What carseat do you have? I'm thinking about which one we'll get next for LM as he'll be out his infant seat fairly soon. A while ago you had a link on your site about breaking waters and how it doesn't speed up labour... do you still have that and if so can you send it to me?
from mamabean :
Between you and Alice, I've spent the last (counts on fingers) 3.1 days on pins and needles. Hope things are going beautifully for you and baby boy #3, whether he's in or he's out!
from greenergrass :
ooooh tell us what's on your (not-so) shortlist again! i'm sorry, stalking pregnant ladies is my habit... how many weeks now?
from greenergrass :
ah - labour with an intact bag. funny, i had never heard of anyone labouring all the way to the end with intact bag until i did it. everyone i know seems to have had their water broken, despite our quite progressive hospital. but yes, i took lots of vitamin C at the recommendation of my doula since i was hoping to keep my bag intact because of GBS. i realised afterwards that i think that's why things went so well. good luck to you!
from greenergrass :
oh my goodness - that is so cute. poor e! big hug for him.
from wunderwuman :
I had posterior labour and oh my it's horrible!! Anything besides no slouching that helps turn baby?
from built-in :
this baby is now big and still head butts my cervix regularly. let's me know i'm alive...
from mamabean :
Late to the party but pregnant again. :) 6 weeks today!
from alicesbaby :
LOVE the Merry Tossmas, hahaha! :) And also, I missed the bit where you bled and then came back and all was okay. I'm so glad everything's okay! But also, I wanted to leave a note because maybe it will reassure - I have had a TON of bleeding this pregnancy, mostly subchorionic hematoma stuff, but different red bleeding around 18 weeks, and quite a bit of it. I had a lovely internal (sarcasm intended) and the doctor said my cervix was RAW - he even drew me a picture! And thus the blood. But, I never actually produced any blood for them to see whilst there (I went in a few times over a couple of weeks with new bleeding from the same source), only earlier that day OR on the way home. Tsk! ;) Also, I checked my cervix last week and it was complete mush - the only thing I could feel was my baby's head through a hole in the middle! If I hadn't also randomly checked my cervix around the 30 week mark last pregnancy, I would have freaked right out. It was totally soft then too, so I guess it's normal for me - maybe for you too?? I still didn't deliver till 41 weeks last time despite the soft cervix and plentiful BHs! Anyway, I'm glad things are okay :)
from wunderwuman :
soooo happy to hear that things are good! And yes please! Birth thoughts!!
from marlen816 :
Glad everything is okay!
from greenergrass :
just saw this - many, many prayers. and hugs. and good vibes. thinking of you and your family.
from built-in :
(((((many prayers for you))))))
from mindfluff :
i hope everything is ok. i'm thinking of you.
from marlen816 :
Definitely praying! ((Hugs))
from wunderwuman :
Sticky sticky prayers and thoughts your way, definately.
from wunderwuman :
Agreed!! And can we all remember where the (unoffensive?) word holiday came from? Holy-Day?! Grrr, idiots!
from mindfluff :
we are going to visit next and see how pretty it is there. basically we are trying to do as many trips as we can before the baby arrives and curtails our travelling for a while!
from built-in :
jesus! that's awful! you might end up with some shiners. i hope it heals quickly and that you have a major turnaround of luck SOON - you deserve good, soft, fuzzy happenings.
from becca27 :
Oh no! I'm so sorry about your nose! Kids can be so rough on us moms!
from greenergrass :
wow - sorry to hear you fainted... that's scary. how did that birth go?? can you say?
from sidewaysrain :
happy birthday, woman! I knew it was around now! glad it was good :)
from reassemble :
Jasper and Callum were both on my list for Mason. But M's dad thought that Jasper was a dog's name. Grrrr. Anyway. I love Atticus, too.
from greenergrass :
gosh, you're brave asking for name advice! I love your picks - we have very similar taste in names since jasper, tate and theo were all on a short list i prepared early in my pregnancy. felix would have been except my mother named her dog that... but i really love that name and i'm not implying it's a dog name as i've never heard of another canine felix. i'm not as crazy about colin, which is weird, because i like names with Ls in them, but i think it's purely a negative association thing with the colins i've known and of course your colin would be awesome. i also love atticus - tried to sell d on that one as well at one point. i think the right kid could totally pull it off as a first name, but maybe as a middle name... we ended up doing the whole firstborn son being named after family members, but if we have another boy, i know i will be returning to that list!
from built-in :
man-o-man, i don't even know how you do it. i understand is all - something about gestating makes me want to wack-a-mole everyone on the head several times a day. i hope you get spoiled and pampered, somehow, soon.
from greenergrass :
ha ha - i love that you hid. i still make d phone for the take-out.
from wunderwuman :
You know you're one of my favourite reads and I love hearing about the births you attend.
from built-in :
happy birthday to seth! i can't believe he's 3 either! i've never tried typepad, but have tried blogspot and livejournal and both have plusses and minuses, depending on what features you're seeking. if you want something private (or with a lot of customization for varying levels of privacy) livejournal is really good. a private blogspot is kind of lame. what IS good about blogspot is that you can upload pictures for free, and there is a lot you can do with your layout if you're interested in that. blogspot goes down pretty frequently though (and not in the good way).
from greenergrass :
i like blogspot/blogger the best. typepad is amazing but i don't think it's free - unless that has changed. i know some people adore wordpress but i just found it too hard to customise... it's been a while since i looked at it though.
from wunderwuman :
Wow, three! That sucks about the milk thing though. Are you planning on home schooling?
from greenergrass :
he is THREE? Lord, how long have I known you!? I was looking at FB photos of them recently, and they are both just so gorgeous. And I'm sorry about the Bacon/Cow's milk thing... how annoying!
from built-in :
i knew you would know what i was talking about - you mentioned something similar awhile back. ~~ i was wondering about those crowning shots! they looked really fake to me, but i was impressed that they were showing anything like that at all. i'm glad to hear that they were real. the movie made me laugh, though. that stoner girl talking about the baby stealing your food, but you have to let it because it's family and all... that's been running through my mind lately.
from wunderwuman :
huh, and here i was surmising that it was fake cause it didn't look as... goopy and I remembered. Also, I agree about the movie, very ho-hum
from reassemble :
My brain is so fried right now that the one and only thing I can remember about pituitary tumors is that they can cause Cushing's, and even then I am not sure whether it was in my book or I just saw it on that episode of House where the ten year old has a heart attack...
from alicesbaby :
Hope your trip goes well! Happy Thanksgiving! And I just wanted to update on my last note, that I found out I'm having a third boy too! Can relate to all the feelings you mentioned, but def getting used to the idea and happy about it - yay for little boys! :)
from reassemble :
Possibly your kidneys are irritated but not infected; or possibly they are becoming infected but not yet enough that it shows up on a dip; or possibly the strips your midwife is using aren't sensitive enough to the number of WBCs in your urine (they vary and the more expensive ones are more sensitive); or possibly she dipped it instead of dropping it which can contaminate the result. Or maybe you're just a twinkle dehydrated.
from greenergrass :
aw - if you're doing what you think is best for her AND for you, you are definitely not failing her.
from reassemble :
Oh my god and DUH, congrats on boy number three!!
from reassemble :
Oh, there. You learn something new every day. My A&P book only says that the hypothalamus produces oxytocin and ADH to be secreted by the posterior pituitary. I thought the anterior pituitary produced all its own tropic hormones. Now I'm all disillusioned. Anyway, I am at myspace. justmiamonkey.
from wunderwuman :
Such wonderful news about another little boy :)
from justagal :
I am so very jealous you will have three sons. I am due with our second son in six weeks and would love to have a third. Those boys will grow up to be such good friends with one another. Congrats to you!
from alicesbaby :
Congratulations on your third sweet boy! I'm so excited for you! I really know what you mean about the third boy thing. My "big" scan is next week and, having two boys already, I know I will be sad if this baby isn't a girl, at the exact same time as being thrilled and feeling soooo blessed to have three little boys close in a row! I felt the same way after boy #2's big scan - the two feelings ARE mutually exclusive. I'm planning to have pampering treats at the ready for the 24 hours after my scan. I hate having to mope about when I'm actually thrilled about my baby in every way! I am also nervous about telling people if we're having a 3rd boy, as I KNOW there will be looks and comments, ugh. Anyway. You guys only make completely adorable boys, so it's all good! :) I hope your thyroidy business gets fixed very soon. You've had to put up with it WAY too long!
from greenergrass :
congratulations on your baby boy! the brain is a complex thing and capable of so many emotions at different times... it's funny i so expected peter to be a girl that i was shocked when i first saw he wasn't, yet i am so thrilled and happy now that i have my boy. also, d is the third of three boys too, and imo, the sweetest!
from reassemble :
So, your anterior pituitary gland is hyposecreting TSH and it's affecting your T3 and/or T4? Is that the skinny?
from sidewaysrain :
great news though, hopefully a little synthroid will fix your wagon. 1 little pill a day and you get your vim and vigor back! your symptoms are hypo for sure. good luck with that, good luck! don't be too shy to get a second opinion, but you know that.
from greenergrass :
hope your u/s went well! did you hold out or find out the gender?
from mindfluff :
thanks for the birthday wishes. the pains were of the sharp stabby variety rather than crampy. not sure if that makes any difference. i'm just carrying on as if i never had them and keeping my fingers crossed they don't come back (I had some last night but i've been fine today).
from mindfluff :
so i did another test and it said i was pregnant but i'm still having a hard time letting myself believe it. did you have the same thing when you found out you were pregnant again?
from greenergrass :
hey thanks! we finally decided today that we really should look into a doula. i sent an e-mail to a student doula i met, but if that doesn't work out, i will let you know. we had our home visit today and it was great... so i am getting all my supplies next weekend. :-) yay for kicks!
from reassemble :
there's a lot of "across'd" here too. well really.. we're neighbors so yeah. You know who says "youse" a lot? servers. in michigan. have you noticed? I even caught myself saying "How are youse guys doing?" a few times and immediately hit myself with a shoe.
from mamabean :
The apple crisp at applebees is really good. Got one of those nearby?
from greenergrass :
P.S. Yes, how many weeks are you? I'm at 32.5 right now... coming up soon!
from greenergrass :
Yay for a good midwife appointment! Hmm... my baby's heartbeat is always 140ish too. Perhaps a boy! The one organic crib mattress is aviva.ca - not sure if it's organic strictly speaking or just "natural." But it is $$$$ which is why I haven't bought it just yet. And please do spam me with cloth diaper sites! However I must admit, I have already spent WAYYYY too much on cloth diapers - I have about 12 different kinds, prefolds, pockets, fitteds, AIOs. It's been a minor obsession for me. :-) What is your favourite newborn diaper?
from alicesbaby :
I'm SO happy that you had a great midwife appt and that you heard the heartbeat! Yay! I can't figure out how pregnant you are or when you're due, but I'm guessing only a week or so before me (Feb 11th here)? My bean's heartrate hasn't yet gone below the 170s, but I'm expecting it to slow soon. At this stage with Matthew, it was also in the 170s, and with Arthur it has just dropped to the 160s at last. Once the heartrates had slowed properly, Matthew's was always between 120 and 140. Arthur's was always "girly", usually between 160 and 180. I have no idea if I'm finally having a girl but I'm thinking not so far. The morning sickness is identical and such. I'm hoping for pink for you, but boys are so much fun :) So happy for you that you are having a healthy pregnancy after what you've been through.
from greenergrass :
i know what you mean about worrying things won't come to fruition. i think i worry about things i never would have before... my earlier experience hangs over my pregnancy. on the other hand, i worry less about certain things too. i worry only about what's beyond my control and probably am less hard on myself... i know what happened was not my fault - i'm sure you do too! so maybe that's a bit of a blessing.
from marlen816 :
Congrats!
from merslife :
Congrats!
from greenergrass :
also wanted to say wow - your due date; can't believe it has been that long. a big hug.
from mindfluff :
how wonderful. that is such good news. take care of yourself.
from greenergrass :
Hooray!!!!!!!!!!!! That's amazing. We can be pregnant together. Funny, must be something in the water these days as another blog I occasionally read also announced her pregnancy today.
from wunderwuman :
Congrats a thousand times over! Sending you lots and lots of sticky thoughts :)
from built-in :
congratulations! how exciting! i've recently read that b-6 and milk thistle *before* the first trimester - and during - help with morning sickness, but i don't know if it's true... i learned that info too late.
from bluecharis :
Congratulations and all the best to you and your child! I'm keeping my fingers crossed tightly that everything goes well!! *big hug* Charis :-))
from arthursmummy :
Yay! I'm so excited for you!! I am praying too that everything will be okay. Statistically speaking, your chances of it all being okay are EXCELLENT, though :) Now the fact that you're pregnant makes me want to hurry up and get pregnant all the more, because well, we've done it together once - why not another time?! ;) Thanks for the lovely comment at my diary, btw! Happy and healthy 9 months to you! Yay!
from lowercaseg :
Ohhh, congratulations! Thinking of you...here's to a healthy pregnancy!
from greenergrass :
hey - you're locked! hope everything's okay.
from mindfluff :
i want to see your puppy but i don't know your flickr address
from greenergrass :
weird - thought i left you a message, but it got eaten. I saw your flickr photos a few days ago and pup is adorable! congrats again. thanks for the headaches - i have taken your food recommendations and started on fish oil; going to get some calcium. as for the pain, it's always on one side, but the side varies. it can be at the front or back of my head. it's better when i go outside or lie down, but that's about it. standing, moving makes it worse... but strangely a walk outside can make it better. i think they're classical migraines without aura. food/light/sound/hydration - none of these make a difference.
from greenergrass :
congrats on the new puppy!! can't wait for the photos.
from mindfluff :
thanks for the congrats. it's all a bit overwhelming at the moment :)
from greenergrass :
Aw - yay for nice clients! And cheese, well, just a little bit. As for baths, I am so with you. I visit apartmenttherapy.com a lot and today there was a post about someone removing their tub and just putting in a shower. Luckily most of the responses were "NOOOOO!" I think we're still in the majority... ;-)
from simplify :
what about bowling or ice skating or one of those horrible places that kids love so much like chuck e cheese?
from wunderwuman :
I got a pair of Crocks last year for my birthday. Although they are not the most attractive shoes, once I put them on I didn't wear anyother pair of shoes all summer. So comfy!! Good for births because of the water, but you'll also be amazed at how well they stand up. Mine are baby blue :)
from wunderwuman :
I read the Kite Runner last summer. It's really good. I think you'll enjoy. :)
from greenergrass :
ohmy, you might get addicted to running. i adore it, though have been too tired lately. must get back on wagon. i always thought i'd hate running - too boring. maybe there are some 5ks coming up this summer to give you something to train for. i always like having a goal. :-)
from wunderwuman :
We used to use those traps that are paper and the mouse runs through them and gets stuck on the glue inside. They kinda suiggle around and then eventually die. Sad but they really work. Also, they poop when they die. Steve told me, he watched one die one day and kept me informed about the whole thing. Kinda mean, but not as mean as a mouse who steals chocolate chips.
from mamabean :
Yeeeeeeeps. Only thing worse than a ballsy mouse is a ballsy mouse all wacky on the junk! (Chocolate, I mean.)
from lowercaseg :
Best of luck with the running --and the mouse!
from mindfluff :
sounds a bit like my week. chin up, as they say in england.
from lowercaseg :
Thanks! Your boys are cuuuute! =) Happy Valentine's Day!
from lowercaseg :
I'd love to see your photos - what is your Flickr url? :D
from greenergrass :
p.s. nice kitchen/bathroom too!
from greenergrass :
i bet you think i'm stalking you because i noticed RIGHT away!!! oh-my-god, they are such gorgeous boys michelle!!! wonderful grins, they are honestly so adorable and thank you for responding to my request! i just love watching them grow up! (but not too fast) ;-)
from greenergrass :
wow - that sounds like a great labour. i want one of those. btw, a plea to update your flickr account? i'd love some new photos of les boys!
from wunderwuman :
Good laughs always make things seem better. And as far as the wet towel, is it a man thing? Cause I don't leave mine on the bathroom floor, or worse yet, the bed, yet I always seem to be picking up Steve's...
from justagal :
I am so sorry to hear you are having an emotional time right now. I hope things look up for you very soon.
from greenergrass :
well, i've certainly had some help from meds, but i do think there are other ways as well... i just wish i could figure out what they are! it's weird, sometimes i have this mental block against taking time for myself; i never forget appointments, except for my monthly massage - a splurge we cannot really afford, but which i refuse to give up! anyway - your advice is always welcome, so please keep chiming in.
from mindfluff :
i spent a year on meds for depression. i guess it helped but i don't really recommend it. i know it's hard when you have kids (ok i don't know because i don't have any) but i think that what you need is the occasional bit of time to yourself and for yourself, even if it's just 5 minutes once a week. as for the family stuff, i left home 20 years ago and i'm still carrying way more baggage than i'd like!
from bluecharis :
Although I don't have any kids, I think that I can relate to what you're going through right now. And I guess you're on the right path to become happier again: Enlist your friends to help you out, vent as much and as long as you need and then breathe... My life's pretty rough right now, too, and knitting helps to soothe me SO much. It's much better than the antidepressants that I used to take. To repeat the same movements over and over again and to see something grow out of a mere thread is truly great. If knitting isn't your thing, maybe jogging or some other activity/ hobby that you do for yourself by yourself might do the trick... Sending you lots of strength, good thoughts and best wishes, Charis :-)) *hug*
from greenergrass :
done and done - dropped by a place yesterday and got myself an appointment in feb. :-)
from greenergrass :
haven't really done anything about providers - had to let it sink in. But I'm thinking about dropping by a midwife place today which is in the same place as where I'll get my bloodwork done.
from greenergrass :
thanks for your message! am starting to feel more used to the idea now... i will be seeking lots of advice. :-)
from mindfluff :
i want to start trying again as soon as possible (since i'm not getting any younger) although i'm not really sure how long we are supposed to wait to try again or if we need to wait at all.
from mindfluff :
i think orpington is a burb of london. we are looking to live centrally in a large town or city which limits us (particularly financially!!). are you thinking of trying again for a baby?
from lowercaseg :
happy new year - best of luck with the resolutions - they sound exciting!
from mindfluff :
just wanted to wish you a happy new year. let's hope 2007 brings us both good things.
from lowercaseg :
Hi! I emailed you the password - the first time I emailed you, I got a delivery failure message, so I'm hoping my second attempt reached you! :)
from greenergrass :
i know $88 was nuts. i finally remembered my diaryland acct pw so i can leave you notes! :-)
from poisonwood :
Hmm, the things you're not posting about. Interesting. ;) Please send me a link if you decide to move your diary, if you still let people read it. [email protected] I've enjoyed reading it for quite some time now.
from wunderwuman :
You know sometimes Iwish we lived closer so we could be real-life friends, not just mystery diary internet friend... unless of course that crosses some unspkoen internet line of creeoiness and then of course, heh heh, just kidding... Also, I really liked your entry today. :)
from arthursmummy :
Oh no! I have missed your diary for so long (NOT by choice, of course!) that I didn't even know you were pregnant and then miscarried. I'm so sorry to hear about it. *hugs* to you. I hope life stops sucking quite so much for you soon. BUT today it probably doesn't suck so much since you have two absolutely precious boys - one of whom is TWO already (can't believe how the time has flown!). Happy Birthday Sethie!! I hope you have a good Halloween too! :) Will try to keep up more often from now. xxx
from mindfluff :
thanks. we are so happy and excited!!
from lowercaseg :
Just so you know, I am SO SORRY. I don't know why I haven't done it yet, but I keep forgetting to put you on my buddies list, therefore I miss your updates. Thinking of you and your family......
from mindfluff :
I've been reading your diary too. I'm so sorry that things have been so difficult for you lately. Hopefully things can only get better.
from nycme :
(I tried this in your guestbook but I think it didn't work, so I'm posting it here! Sorry if it's a duplicate)... I've just spent a little time getting caught up with your diary and wanted to let you know how very very sorry I am for your miscarriage. So sorry. sigh. I hope E is okay after the stair fall - that's very scary, and re: Ian and his smartass/hurtful comments (was that yesterday?) yeah, I know how maddening that kind of thing can be, how insensitive, and when my husband pulls something like that I want to strike and strike hard. I've had to stop myself from doing things like slam his cell phone out the car window or throw a glass of juice at him...Thanks for the Alfie Kohn info. He's new to me and I found his website and read some of his articles. I have to agree with him on the homework issue, but it's hard to reconcile that with the fact that a part of class grades are for homework. It truly is busywork and a very frustrating predicament to be in when you have a wiseass kid who is vocal about its uselessness. Arghhh!! *hugs to you*
from marlen816 :
((Hugs)) I am so very sorry.
from merslife :
I'm sorry.
from sidewaysrain :
oh no, I am so sorry.
from simplify :
Oh Michelle- I'm so sorry for you and Ian.
from justagal :
I am so, so sorry for your loss.
from ingridwrites :

from lowercaseg :
I just wanted to again thank you for your oatmeal advice - I gave Johnna oatmeal for awhile, then back to rice for a few days, and we were back to the same thing. After putting her on the oatmeal again, she was back to normal. So...I think we'll stick with oatmeal. Thanks again!
from bevanandjen :
hey you! Congrats! I am so excited for you. :)
from merslife :
I truly hope that one of the rings you withdraw your hat from won't be this journal. I'd really miss you.
from lowercaseg :
wow!!! congratulations!!
from ingridwrites :
Congrats! Babies are a blessing.
from merslife :
Yeah!!! I'm all ready to read about this pregnancy, etc.
from marlen816 :
Congratulations!
from simplify :
congratulations!
from justagal :
What an exciting piece of news to update. Another baby is such a wonderful blessing. You are very lucky, and I am thrilled for you.
from simplify :
I don't know how the Canadian health care system works, but are you allowed to visit doctors outside of your area? I wouldn't ignore this stuff with Ian.
from lowercaseg :
Thank you for the advice! Starting solids is a big responsibility - especially when the baby can't talk and say what they think, etc. That makes it even harder! Feeding her things other than bottles is what makes me the most nervous about parenting! Eek!
from bevanandjen :
COnventional manners, like RSVP-ing when asked, and saying please and thanks... those all appear to have gone out the window. This is one of my biggest pet peeves.
from marlen816 :
are you giving out the password? marlen816AThotmailDOTcom
from marlen816 :
Praying for your ultrasound. ((Hugs))
from bluecharis :
Hej! Good luck for the ultrasound. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, but I'm pretty sure that there's nothing wrong with you! Love, Charis :-)
from mamabean :
I dunno the answers. But if we could figure out discipline in a group setting AND how to entertain kids and still enjoy adult conversation, I think we could be bazillionaires. :)
from bevanandjen :
The basket and the book are gifts. Create an invoice and mail it to them, along with a note that says "I completely forgot to give you this, I am very sorry for forgetting, that was very unprofessional, blah blah". Then, mail them a congratulatory card / thank you card for the lovely gifts. Double whammy.
from dangerspouse :
As long as you have a hubby who will clean up poop...keep him! (And the dog too, lol.)
from mypinkshirts :
I loved DaVinci code. It's my fave book by Dan. Glad I read it first because the rest of them are all the same. Anyway - read it an enjoy!
from lavanotes :
I've read Da Vinci Code. I liked it- it's entertaining and fast-paced. I think Angels and Demons, his other book, is a better read though. I guess because I knew what his big surprise was though having done a paper topic on that a couple years before the book came out the big bang wasn't so big or banging for me LOL. Oh right and remember- it's just a story. A fictional mystery story. I STILL don't understand people who got carried away with it one way or another.
from lavanotes :
OMG I'm listening to James Blunt's album right now. YOU'RE creepy. :P
from marlen816 :
((Hugs)) for y'all to get better and fast!
from busymomof2 :
Hi my name is Brianna and I hope you don't mind me lurking throughout your diary. Still pretty new at this and just trying to me some new people.

Awww I hate being up and down like that. Oh and when we were trying to get M on a schedule we were told CIO for two weeks as well. And we did it. It worked for us but it was hard as hell. It's not for everyone. *HUGS*

I'm so sorry for your family's loss. I lost a dear cousin who was 32 - and 18 years later I still can't make sense of it...Hugs to all.
from lavanotes :
I'm so sorry to hear this. It's really hard when bad things happen to good people. *hugs* to you. I'm so bad with words about these things.
from marlen816 :
((Hugs)) to you and your family, your cousin, aunt and uncle and Lisa's children.
from bevanandjen :
So sorry to hear of your relative passing. May she be at peace now.
from lavanotes :
Here's an excuse. In my culture it's tradition to leave the Christmas tree up until after three kings day, January 6. :)
from marlen816 :
Happy New Year!
from lowercaseg :
Hi - thanks for your message! :-) I am super excited. I can already say it has been the best thing to ever happen to me. I'm am going to have to check out your diary, too!
from mathero :
Have a wonderful Holiday season!
from poisonwood :
Just wanted to let you know I think this doula stuff is awesome. If I ever get pregnant, I'll definitely be e-mailing you for advice.
from ladyanne01 :
hope its ok i added u to my favorites
from bevanandjen :
The last few years I have been all about the multi coloured strings because I too, got tired of the austere white.
from nycme :
I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin. I'lll be keeping her and your family in my prayers.
from bevanandjen :
Hey darling? At Blargle Company, I sell remote car starters. Drop me an email if you are unsuccessful.. I can probably air mail you one for cheap cheap.
from mathero :
I'm adding you. I hope that's okay!
from marlen816 :
Your boys are adorable!
from bevanandjen :
Welcome to 31! Yay!
from lavanotes :
FUN list. :) Have a fabulous day tomorrow. Happy Birthday in case I miss you.
from lavanotes :
WOW! He's one already!! How exciting!!
from mamabean :
Hi! What a surprise to hear from you! I read your journal religiously and love it love it love it. I am so impressed with how quickly you've started off with your doula work. And I know you must be so good at it, too. Lovely to know you read my lil pages. I think I've mentioned it before but I have another diary that's for my "inner megan" stuff and is a bit less tra-la-la. The diary you are reading is for all my friends and family, so I keep it light and fluffy. Not that the other one is dark and ugly and hate-filled or anything. Anyway, you can read it at friedokra.diaryland.com... just let me know if you are interested and i'll give you the passwords, etc.
from lavanotes :
HOORAY! Way to go! This calls for a bottle of champagne!!!
from marlen816 :
WTG Ian! So jealous of your house redo! I would love to do some things around here....someday......
from lavanotes :
how bout NOT looking at it as doing something to achieve your means but doing something good for all of you? Because a cranky mommy isn't the funnest mommy right? Crying it out really freaking blows but it resolves a lot of problems too. It sucks, but you're just not doing anyone a favor by continuing to deprive yourself of sleep. Good luck!!
from arthursmummy :
I reeeeeeally feel for you with the sleep, ugh. You're such a star mom for not night-weaning even though you're tired out! I feel the same way about it but ugh I'm just so pregnant and queasy and tired and so we're just trying to do a "window" of night weaning. But it sucks and I hate it, and so does Arthur, so not much is happening there except us hating it. So I really felt for you when I read your entry! *hugs*
from marlen816 :
Praying for Ian's interview.....
from lavanotes :
Did something happen at the birth? I know it went very long but I don't think you mentioned something unusual.
from lavanotes :
holy poop! i can't believe someone found you. If you do go private, let me know: [email protected]
from sahm :
i need the username/password too!
from bevanandjen :
hey, me too! you can email it to me at [email protected] if you would consider letting me in. Smooches, hope all is well.
from arthursmummy :
Nooooooooo!!!! I can't get into your diary!! Now I have to go to bed wondering what your entry says and why it's password protected!! Pllleeease let me in! I know I will toss and turn tonight over it ;) Hope everything is okay.
from bluecharis :
Hey! What happened to your diary? Password protection? I want to read your new entry!!! :-) Could you mail me the necessary info at [email protected]? I'd appriciate very much. Lots of love, Charis
from seducible :
RYC: LOL...sorry, I should have said off of the continent. :)
from nycme :
It's so hard to lose a furry family member, and so hard to explain it to the little ones...Hugs for everyone.
from suze3000 :
Oh, I'm so sorry to here about your kitty. You did the right thing. We lost both of our cats last fall, almost a year ago. We had to make THE decision for both of them. While very sad, I haven't regretted it. And we adopted a kitty for several months recently, but gave her back because she was peeing everywhere and pooping outside the box. There's no way I could deal, not with a two year old and a new baby, too. I'm so sorry.
from nycme :
I'm so sorry about your cat. It is a rough decision to have to make. I think making the decision is worse than the actual event. {{{hugs}}}
from lavanotes :
I'm sorry about your cat. But I don't think you're a bad person for it. *hugs* Congrats with the doula stuff. Sounds awesome.
from sahm :
hey, the cat - ug i sympathize. mine was the exact same way. i wanted to just murder him muself SOOO many times. when we moved i threw him outside (at the new house) b/c no way was he gonna pee up the 1st house i OWN! we have a screened in porch so that's his house now. but he hasn't peed at ALL since going outside. BTW he had med's at the old house, too. so maybe you can just throw him out in the back and keep some food on the porch? whatever you decide will be fine, really b/c its just to much to put up with! soooo gross. he's ruined SOOO much of my stuff! good luck!
from mquest :
Community is a great thing--- I am glad you had fun and made new contacts.
from crazeemomma :
I've been wanting to try the Kiss My Face products. I'm glad to see that you enjoy them. I think I will be making my first purchase soon. :)
from lavanotes :
Ugh can you make some room for me in the i want a baby... NOW club?
from seducible :
RYN: The verse about tattooing is in the Old Testament--filled to the brim with laws that are almost ridiculous--the verse above that one says that you should not cut the hair at the sides of your head or trim the edges of your beard. In that chapter it says you cannot eat meat with blood in it. The New Testament--like 1 Cor. where it says women should cover their heads--supersedes the OT because Jesus died on the cross for the salvation of everyone. The laws in the OT then, essentially, became void because of the NT. Getting the tattoo wasnt an easy decision but I feel good about it, because its a statement of faith, much like when I wear a headcovering. Covering my head wont get me into heaven, but its an outward sign of my submission to God and my decision to follow Him. And as for being silent in the church, I asked my mom about it and she said she just heard on the radio that that was because the women in that day werent educated--it doesnt apply anymore today. Ugh, I sound like a hypocrite, dont I? Or at the least vacuous and tedious. I don't want to seem like I'm picking and choosing what I follow...but at this point and to my understanding, I'm obeying the things I should to the best of my ability and do not think that tattooing is wrong. Sorry for this novella of a reply--I just wanted to give a decent explanation!
from bluecharis :
Wow! Glad to hear you'll be working as a doula soon! Congratulations! Please make sure to get a malpractice insurance first, okay? I mean, childbirth can go wrong and you don't want to find yourself in a law suit without coverage by an insurance agency... Love, Charis
from lavanotes :
with 9 year olds you can't go wrong with bath stuff and makeup
from seducible :
"Christian Bale dropping like a tree to do full push ups"...I hear ya. I get to see the movie again this Friday and all I could do was scream "WOO HOO!"
from lavanotes :
That sounds great!! I can try and help with your business card if you'd like. Not promisng anything spectacular though. LOL
from mquest :
forever changed ???? Wearing a skirt and hanging out with women did that? How far did your hand go? :) Seriously- I hope you learned a lot
from lavanotes :
Can't wait to read all about it!! I hope the forever changed thing is in a good way...
from amomsmusings :
Maybe I missed it, (I need to do tons of back reading) but where are you getting your doula training? I've been contemplating it for a long time but it keeps getting put on a back burner. Good luck this weekend and hopefully the skirt shifting won't be any big deal.
from seducible :
Don't worry, I'll more than likely change my layout within the next couple of weeks. It seems to change with my mood. Coincidence that you mentioned doulas right at the end there, because I watched a short sort of documentary on doulas this afternoon. I am more convinced than ever that if I ever have kids I'll go completely natural. I can't believe the statistics--60% of births are induced or given a drug to speed up labor, 85-90% of births are done with an epidural, and 1 out of 4 women have a c-section. It's CRAZY. Now I'm thinking of exploring the idea of becoming a doula...who knows.
from amomsmusings :
Babes on boobs...ha! Man, can I relate. Lil is working on her upper teeth now and evidently nothing satisfies like my nipples! I enjoy nursing my babies but sometimes I wish someone else could sprout a breast for a while. Yeah, abbreviated sleep sucks, no pun intended.
from lavanotes :
LMAO that landing strip is precious.
from mquest :
Wow. When you said dead you were not joking. I am sure it will grow back. It might be quicker to pull it out and roll some new grass in. (or plant from seed.) If it was me I would leave it and see what happens.
from mquest :
I would like to see a update on the lawn. Did it perk up or is dead?
from lavanotes :
holy buhjeezus i want lucky charms SO BAD right now. You're killin me smalls!
from mommie-me :
hey sorry I never got back to you on the placenta shake thing (from babycase.diaryland.com)... I only JUST saw the message. For some reason I'm not getting the e-mails all the time. anyway... I'm not sure what all they did since I wasn't the one to make it but they put vanilla ice cream, strawberries, peaches, blueberry juice I think and she said 4 cotyledons (the lobes on the maternal side of the placenta) of placenta. ;)
from suze3000 :
I registered so I could make comments! I had to laugh at your post from a couple of days ago about E using "or". Daniel does the exact same thing!! At first, I think he's not understanding what I'm asking and then, I realize that he's coming up with his own option. lol That photographer sounds really great! Would love to see some examples as well. I don't think my DH would like it either, though.
from lavanotes :
Those photos sound so neat! I'd love to see a sample.
from lavanotes :
I am LOVING the tomato stakes adventure. LOL
from mquest :
I like doing the tickle monster while blowing into my sons hair. I love the matching hats in the picture. Weeding is tough. It kills my back.
from lavanotes :
YIKES! I hate those bills.
from frogmom :
I wanna take the girls to the zoo so bad! Except its 70 freaking miles away and too expensive at the moment! Besides the rain, sounds like you guys had a great time!
from marlen816 :
You're my hero! Please come clean MY windows!! ((Hugs)) and prayers for E to feel better and to not be giving up napping yet!
from seducible :
Erotica...The one that was very much erotica that I've read (I know, I'm a bad girl, or was) were by Thea Devine.
from lavanotes :
I think Anne Rice writes erotica under the name Anne Rampling. That's all I know though.
from mquest :
My son once took a spill at the park and ended up with bloody teeth. The dentist looked him over and told us he thought he would be fine. But, he also thought his teeth might turn black and fall out in a few days. That never happened and all turned out well. I am not an expert on wound care-- but, I think letting air around the wound in the best thing.
from lavanotes :
Have you considered looking into a good shelter? One with a no-kill policy?? My city has three of them. Might be a better alternative to putting the kitty down.
from mquest :
For what ever reason I ended up on your 2/2/04 post when I visited your front page. That Is why my last note has no relevance to anything you have posted recently. It was for the 2/2/04 post. Sorry.
from mquest :
My son who is fast approaching the 3 year mark has 100's of books. The library has a huge sale every few months and we buy tons of books for him. At the moment he only looks at a few of them. I still keep the others so we can look for pictures as needed. But, every night we read the same 6-8 books before bed. The first six all have trains in them. :) They never leave his bed. He sleeps with them.
from seducible :
Happy (belated) Mother's Day!
from mquest :
You can always grow your own green onions.
from seducible :
"green onions...of DOOM" is a great title. luckily I've never eaten them raw. And oh dear, I love tuna so much even though I know there's mercury in it...
from crazeemomma :
What's the deal with green onions? I'd like to know because we eat a lot of pasta salad. :)
from arizabif :
Hey, email me about your cat and the peeing thing: [email protected]. I have some thoughts on fixing the problem, but it's too long to get into here.
from seducible :
I love Shay's hair and Seth is just toooo cute! I love his expression!
from lavanotes :
CUTE picture. Stop shopping!?!?! That's a crime my dear.
from seducible :
I don't think that you should feel like a jerk for wanting your mother to not smoke around your children. It really is harmful to their health...she should respect your stand on that issue.
from nycme :
thanks for the note re: migraines and environmental causes....as it happens, oddly??, they have been treating the school for rodents, ugh! My son says they've been doing it since the beginning of the school year, but this last newsletter is the first I've heard of it, so, that is a possibility....I'm going to speak to his doctor about that. I really appreciate you bringing up that idea.
from lavanotes :
I'm with seducible on the pudding.
from seducible :
I honestly laughed out loud when I read "BEAT the pudding!" because...that's just so strange...I don't know what I would have done. Now I'm laughing even harder, and I feel bad for laughing.
from lavanotes :
I love me some coral lips. :) BTW my diary is unlocked again. Yes it is.
from miss-katie :
I brought a onesie the first couple days... I had that and some diapers in my bag for outings and I wanted to leave them there because they made me feel like I was still her mother. Sniff. But then I took them out because I am germ-paranoid and didn't want them in the hospital air, lol. But honestly if I even look at the picture in my pumping bag or hear her babbling on the phone I start to cry, so my new strategy is to try to just get through the day without thinking about her too much. Which, yeah. HA. But anyway. And since she's at home with Daddy there is all kinds of stuff that smells like me... I should have him let her nap with my nursing tank from the day before or something. Good idea. And thanks for the sympathy, and I should take that comments link down. Yep.
from seducible :
Happy 2nd birthday, E!
from marlen816 :
((Hugs)) for you and the boys! I can related to having two sick kiddos and the lack of sleep etc. that comes with it. But, I did have my husband here to help some - he had a deadline at work and was gone for a good part of the week, but still he was in town.
from aliboomboom :
Hi, I linked to you from Cookie (soverycherry) and I am really interested in reading your diary. I read a lot of your entries but I am looking for your cast and/or bio page, where are they?
from marlen816 :
My son would say rop (sounds like hop) instead of frog and I'd say, "J say fr-og" and he'd say nice and slow, "R-OP!". But, they grow out of it. He'll be 14 on Thursday and he can say frog just fine now =)
from seducible :
Keep working out! It must be hard for you to find time, but I'm glad you are! I'm in a funk at the moment, not feeling very motivated, but I keep going...which is why I'm about to go on a walk with my little sister, who needs exercise, too. Keep it up!
from miss-katie :
The fitmama postnatal workout DVD has a section where you work out with your baby... I don't know if it's any good but I want to get it. And the rest of it is in 10-minute blocks so if the baby only gives you 10 minutes you don't get interrupted in the middle. So yeah. End advertisement lol. Also mean scary man in mean scary dream. xoxo
from miss-katie :
oh such sweet boys! i love the one of them together, and the one of ewan grouchy. why is it fun to take pictures of upset children? i feel a little mean but they're just so CUTE.
from seducible :
Ah! Your boys are SO CUTE!
from lavanotes :
Link doesn't work. Try www.photobucket.com
from seducible :
Good luck with only one car! And that link for the pictures doesn't work for me :(
from lavanotes :
Mmmmmmmmmm I'm totally craving a Tom Collins now.
from seducible :
Strange that you mentioned a Sloe Gin Fizz. I'd never heard of one before the song "Portland, Oregon" by Loretta Lynn and Jack White.
from seducible :
I really hope the basement issue gets resolved. Hopefully you will be able to claim it on your insurance -- wouldn't that be nice. I won't tell you how to spend the Wal-Mart money, but I know I'd go crazy with that much ;)
from miss-katie :
ugh blah blech. i hope the basement stuff gets taken care of and the baby sleeps more and feels better. have you swaddled him lately? he is kinda old and so would need a giant blanket heh. but one of my books recommends swaddling for short-naps-when-they're-really-tired, because they wake themselves up less easily. and it said some babies need swaddling occasionally up to a year old. anyway. hugs and sympathy.
from marlen816 :
((Hugs)) and prayers for your basement woes and a new van search. What did your fortune cookie say?
from miss-katie :
Oh yes I want one of those cards too, once Hallmark gets them into production. Except mine should not say "boys" but anyway. In fact, she beckons now for the milky.
from marlen816 :
Your boys are too cute! How old are they again?
from seducible :
oh my goodness! Your boy is HUGE! I mean that in a good way. He has a great smile, too. The baby I watch two days a week turned 6 months yesterday and is no where near Seth's size. Adorable!
from lavanotes :
My mil comments on my husband's weight ALL of the time. She comments on my sil's weight too. My sil is a beanpole. My mil is NOT let's just put it that way. I don't know where she gets off criticizing anyone's weight. My husband is like yours- tall lean and with a small belly. Silly mils.
from marlen816 :
((Hugs)) and prayers for you to feel better. I think I need to follow your resolution #2 - I say crap and piss all the time. Sigh.
from lavanotes :
Stop swearing is a good one and a toughie. What a big boy you have! I can't wait to see some pictures :)
from lavanotes :
Happy New Year! I don't think I've ever made a new year's resolution list.
from bluecharis :
Hey darling! Glad to hear he survived the tsunami disaster! What a horrible, HORRIBLE thing! I had read lots about the newish phenomenon of freak waves last summer and therefore knew about the way those waves evolve, but oh my god, did this look scary on T.V.! I saw amateur footage by a couple of tourists, who saw the water receding and commented on this "nature event"... Then they realized the danger they were in and literally ran for their lives... Although I had read about the first signs of a tsunami, I don't think I would have realized what was happening either... Anyway, I wish you and your lovely family a great and safe year 2005! All the best to you! Love, Charis :-)
from msguided :
I totally love that your nickname is Dude. hehe ;) It makes me giggle.
from lavanotes :
It's nice to see you in such a great mood. I'm glad it went so well!
from lavanotes :
You can do it, yes you can!! I'm sending all the happy vibes you need girl. Funny I baked cookies and wrapped presents today. Must be something in the air.
from marlen816 :
Here's hoping you got some sleep! My 4 month old had been sleeping through the night for a month....until last week. Now he wakes up at least once in the middle of the night. But, to his credit, he is sick so maybe when his meds and infection are gone he'll go back to sleeping through.
from lavanotes :
Sorry things are rough. At least they get easier eventually. I know, you don't care about eventually you care about the present version of sleep deprived you and dh. Hope it smooths out. And by the way, kudos on cooking next week. My dh would faint if i did that.
from seducible :
The baby I watch on Tuesdays and Thursdays for about 7 1/2 hours (long enough for me, thank you very much) will wake up when there isn't noise. If you lower your voice, he wakes up. If you turn off the TV, he wakes up. He's also of the mind that staying up ALL DAY LONG is a good thing, even when he's so tired he cries and cries because he's so miserable. Sigh. Babies. You're a brave, brave woman. I want a family, I want kids, I want to be domestic, but you really don't appreciate how much work and dedication it takes until you have to care for a child more than a couple hours a day. You're my heroine.
from marlen816 :
Happy Birthday!
from miss-katie :
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
from bluecharis :
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Sorry, I'm a bit late! Still glad to hear that you had a (mostly) good time... (speeding tickets suck, Dave used to bring one of them home every month, but then, I intervened...) Hope you're doing okay, great to hear the stories about your kids! All the best to you, LOVE, Charis :-))
from seducible :
Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday, God bless you, Happy Birthday to you!
from seducible :
You're welcome...though it wasn't much. With babies like Liam, you just have to hope and pray that they aren't suffering, you know? It's just too bad. I hope the parents will make it through the whole ordeal all right, as well. I really don't want to try to imagine what they're going through. It really puts all of my problems into perspective.
from seducible :
My younger sister (now 13) was born with a hernia and a heart murmur -- I believe two or three holes in her heart. She was also born with cognotive delay, but no severe mental retardation. The holes in her heart eventually closed on their own and, for all intents and purposes, she's healthy. I hope Liam fairs half as well as Anamarie has, and I'll keep him and his family in my prayers. Poor thing...I can't imagine.
from seducible :
Cloth diapers...my mom used them with us. I used to carry one (the prefold kind) around when I was a toddler and suck my thumb while at the same time running my index finger over the grooves on the edge of the cloth. Weird to think I ever sucked my thumb. What a strange habit. I hope your finances even out and you can feel not so worried about it. But that probably isn't going to happen...and that last part about Ian brought tears to my eyes.
from miss-katie :
Nothin' wrong with Ramen and off-brand peanut butter! (Hmm... *scratches head, plans dinner.) And did you try naturalbabies.com? I got my newborn CPFs from her, she was really fast. Wait did you say you needed infant-sized already? Crap maybe I shouldn't have bought 36 newborn ones... I'm going to go back and read. Anyway yes. All you need is love and um Ramen. xoxoxo
from lavanotes :
Oh my god what gorgeous photos. I love his little big feet. And it's so nice about the middle name thing and your dad crying. :) Now, get some sleep.
from crazeemomma :
Oh my goodness! He is absolutely adorable!!! I can't wait to read the birth story when you are up to it. :)
from seducible :
Aw, Seth is TOO CUTE! You're so lucky! I'm glad you finally decided on a name. Yeah, you're brave for giving birth where women gave birth for centuries and still do today in other countries (and this one, obviously)...You're brave for giving birth, PERIOD, regardless of location.
from lavanotes :
Glad to hear the nursing situation's improving. It can be so tough. I'm sorry to hear about the name issue. Family names are hard to deal with. We handled that with our first child. So hopefully we won't have any problem next time around. You're so funny about poor E's hair. I hear you on the hormones. But you're right- it's not permanent!
from lavanotes :
Oh hooray! I knew it I knew it I knew it!!! Congratulations!!! I'm sending happy nursing vibes your way. And the names are beautiful. Maybe you can have two middle names? That'd be different. :) best of luck and congratulations to you and your family. HOORAY!
from crazeemomma :
Congratulations!!! I love the name! I hope you are feeling better very soon and I cannot wait to read about the birth story and see pictures. :)
from miss-katie :
Oh congratulations!!! I hope you get to feeling better soon and I can't wait to see him! xoxo
from seducible :
Congratulations and woo hoo! Glad it all went all right. Can't wait to hear more about Seth!
from bluecharis :
CONGRATULATIONS!!! All the best to you and your family! I'm really glad, you were able to get the kind of birth you were looking for. Please say Seth I say hi! Lots of love, Charis :-))
from squarepants :
HOOORAY! Congratulations, mama! I'm so happy for you guys! Welcome to the world, Seth! BTW, I think Atticus is a rockin' middle name. xoxo
from lavanotes :
OK so it's been 3 days since your last update and counting... does that mean there's a baby?!?!?! Well? Does it?
from arizabif :
So, have you had the baby yet? ;) How about now? Maybe now? Didja? How 'bout now? What about now? Muahaha!
from lavanotes :
You know funny enough I was the one giving those randy winks towards the end. And it worked! LOL
from crazeemomma :
I am so excited for you that I just HAVE to keep checking in to see how things are going. Ok, now I'm sounding like your mother? :)
from msguided :
~~~ easy labor vibes~~~
from msguided :
You know, I got excited when you said "crampy + labor". I can't wait!! ;)
from seducible :
Did you ever think that you would want to be like a tube of toothpase before you had kids? The playground scene made me remember all of the times my preschool students would fall SO hard and just jump right back up like it was nothing. And then they would not even really get hurt and bawl their eyes out for sympathy. I miss little kids!
from crazeemomma :
I hope you have a quick and easy delivery. I say easy but is it ever easy? LoL!
from seducible :
Krispy Kremes...drool...
from bluecharis :
...or maybe this D guy likes you more than he should... ;-)) Good luck with the baby and all the best, love, Charis :-)
from miss-katie :
Oooh baby coming maybe. So exciting. I am sending you good labor vibes. Across the Canadian border, even. I hope they don't have to pay customs. Okay I'm a dork I'm just EXCITED for you. xoxo
from seducible :
Plastic runners, cuckoo clocks, feather beds = my childhood memories at my Oma's house, too. And of course a little Dachshund scampering around, invariably named Schatzi.
from seducible :
::big hug:: I love your entries, and the grape thing was just adorable. I can't believe you're due in only a few days/weeks. I'm trying to remember when I first started reading you...possibly four months ago? I'll keep your family in my prayers and hopefully Ian won't miss a thing and he'll have a safe trip!
from seducible :
The title of this entry is hilarious "dip ya fanny in this brew"... The herbal bath made me want to have a baby...I don't know if that's a good sign.
from miss-katie :
Does pumpkin pie fix heartburn? I need to look into this.
from msguided :
Ugh! Moms! ;) I hope you continue to get better and better!!
from seducible :
My weakness is earrings of any kind. But diamond studs? Sigh. I think I'd almost appreciate those more than a diamond ring. I have 1/4 carat diamond earrings, tiny things, but they're real ... and I lost one! Even thought I kept it either in my ears or in the jewelry box. I was so upset. I'll just have to save up for another pair (they were a gift).
from seducible :
Thank you for the note, and I know you've got a whole heck of a lot more on your mind than I do so you're exempt from noting. ;) The only place my dad drinks coffee is at this mother's house -- which is another huge issue for me so there can be no slipping of happy pills (though I wish I could). Sigh. It NEVER ends. Hope you get better ASAP and I can't wait for Bean to make his/her (healthy) appearance!
from lavanotes :
Aw so sorry you're feeling sick. What an exhaustive day for you! I can't stand people who just give their opinion on such private matters. What an asshole. I hope you and Ian get better soon and I hope all is ok with Bean.
from seducible :
Wow...That's a lot to happen in such a short amount of time. I hope you recover very soon. I suppose the dermatologist is forgetting that giving birth at home was the "normal" place to have a baby a few decades ago? Doctors these days are SO quick to do a C-section. Pisses me off. (What the heck is a dermatologist giving you grief for...he's not an OB/GYN!) I'm glad that you're doing a home birth -- kudos to you. It's so sad how little most women know of the entire birthing process. My little sister knows more than a lot of women do. A former pastor of our's wife had about...9 kids? all at home.
from seducible :
I just have to say that I think you're awesome :) My mom told me that because Rachel was still so young (about a year and a half) when she had me, Rachel actually had to stay with our grandmother for a month so my mom could take care of me since it was so hard. Yikes. I hope that isn't the case with you...Didn't mean to freak you out by saying it, but you're in the same situation as my mom was nearly nineteen years ago. Just know that my sister and I, back in the day, were really close and had a great time together--so that's a plus!
from coeurdoux :
Thanks for adding me as a fav. I have really enjoyed reading your diary and love the way you write! We have a great deal in common and truly reading your entry today about your Mother mad me smile to myself because I can totally relate to the phone call/entertainment situation! Have fun tending to you! PS Estee Lauder's Fruition is the best moisturizer ever!!! Other then that, I am a sworn Clinique girl myself!
from bluecharis :
Hi there! Glad to hear, that the ultrasound brought you happy news! Congrats! Weren't they able to tell you whether it's a boy or a girl? That would be one of the most interesting things for me...! Anyway, sorry to announce, but my mailer just doesn't get these diaryland email addresses... Do you have another one I could use? I don't really want to leave the url here for everyone to see as it contains all my professional personal information... Anyway, take care, love, Charis :-))
from seducible :
My heat jumped when I saw myself mentioned in this last entry. I am SO weird and self-centered. ::grin:: That is GREAT new about the baby and I hope it continues to be great news. As far as the weight thing, I know that I was a few ounces more than my sister, though I was also about a week overdue. I think I'm getting money for a dog just because people want me to shut up about it! But that's cool--it's money either way!
from seducible :
I went to IKEA on Sunday. I didn't get the chance to write about it...I saw that castle tent and could only think one thing: I was deprived. I want a castle tent!
from msguided :
Yay for only 3 weeks!! I sympathize with you on the back pain. How horrible! Hope you feel better soon!
from bluecharis :
Hi there! I just sent you an email with an URL... please let me know, whether you got it, my mailer said something strange after I pushed the "send" button... Love, Charis :-))
from autumn-dove :
Sorry for the mixup! I have my email on my profile. It is a blessing 'most' of the time. Got a msg that said they were disappointed in my one entry. The email was from an Ian Lyle. Another dude made comment on his site on that. You are in our prayers. Hope you are feel better soon. Continue to keep the faith. We are believing for many Miracles for you and yours! God Bless.
from miss-katie :
Ew. Some rashy lady attending one's birth sounds just so unpleasant. Is there any way you can switch back? Sorry about your tummmy distress.
from seducible :
Wendelin is a great name, I think. And I know exactly what you mean about thrift stores. That's where I buy my books (you can't beat 50 cents for a paperback) and every time I go, I feel itchy and ... yeah. I think it's mostly mental, however, at least in my case. Good luck finding a really cheap dresser...and free is always a good thing!
from seducible :
Aw! I wondered where you'd gone! It seems no one updates anymore. Happy belated Anniversary! Hope you feel 100% soon, and get some more rest!
from autumn-dove :
Sorry I upset you. I am the world's worst communicator. Pls check my 9-7 explaination. I was almost in the same boat and maybe even worse at times. I felt part of a borg and was tormented with critical voices that would weake+n me.. I had so many side effects from meds and was at the end of my wits. I feel challenged now, and understand deeply what they deal with on the emotional level and slight mental.
from seducible :
I'm so glad you all are okay! Wow. Scary stuff. I was praying for you, whenever you came to mind, and wondering if you really needed my prayers for safe travel and a good time. I'd like to think that they had something to do with how everything turned out. You never know.
from miss-katie :
Eeek eek eek. So glad you're okay. :)
from seducible :
Yay! You're back! I missed reading your diary. Glad everything went better than expected! Car accident?! You'd better tell us what happened. Everyone is telling me that California is so nice...yeah, I've never been there but I want to go! Everyone but me seems to be traveling, too. Welcome back!
from msguided :
I'm glad you are home - and SAFE! ;) How fun to renew your vows!! We were married in Vegas - and had a very fun (sinful!) week there.
from poisonwood :
hope you're feeling ok - that sounds pretty stressful, to understate it.
from seducible :
Good luck and happy traveling! Vacations are always so stressful by default. I hope yours is great and you all have a wonderful time, and a safe trip! I'll be thinking about you!
from pazzobello :
Edie gets my vote :)
from seducible :
I like the name Edie. And because sometimes sentences jump around and I read a word in a sentence that belongs in the one below it...I thought you were considering Cheerios as a middle name. But then I realized I was reading wrong! Whew.
from seducible :
Sorry I didn't reply to your note sooner. Diaryland was down all night, I've been busy for some weird reason. But I did have the words of your note going through my mind for the last couple days and thank you very much for the suggestion. Had never thought about that before! Thanks for the compliment as well. And Ewan's pictures are adorable! He's such a darling!
from cdghost :
stumbled across your words and enjoyed them very much.. have a good one and two..the cdghost
from seducible :
Hope E gets better and the doctor was right. I really don't trust most of what doctor's say (unless they're specialists) because I've had so many instances when they were wrong. You'll be in my prayers, and good luck with romancing Ian. Sounds so sweet! Have a great afternoon!
from arizabif :
Just to reassure you, I have read that whole article, and frankly, it's hysteria-inducing crapola. The "source" quoted, Ann Coulter, is a right-wing hate mongerer. Flight attendants do not divulge whether Air Marshalls are on board, because it would be a massive breach of security, and the F.A. would lose their job. And if there *really* was concern over these men, they a) wouldn't have been let on the plane. No US gov't. organization is suddenly going to go stupidly p.c. and let a plane go down, and b) even if they made it through screening somehow, they feds would have arrested them. I mean, the US gov't. has a few hundred, (few thousand?), dark skinned people being held on Guantanamo, just for being suspected of doing bad things. Why would the Feds suddenly *stop* doing that, you know? IMO, if this event even did happen, (which last I checked, snopes.com couldn't verify if it had occured), it's more likely the men were making illegal cell-phone calls in the lavatory and/or doing drugs. People do weird shit on planes, and 99.9999% of it has nothing to do with terrorism.
from miss-katie :
Ack queasy car ride and then no dinner? Torture. Also Jason mentioned naming our kid Atticus after we watched To Kill a Mockingbird awhile ago. I think it's a little much for a first name but it would be an excellent middle with Seth. IMO.
from seducible :
Gasp! you FELL? Yikes, are you all right? My aunt took a header into the street the other day, scraped up her knee. My little sister fell walking up the stairs. I thought I was the only one who knew how to do that. The one time I slipped (very slick-bottomed shoes I was wearing) I was at the top of our twenty steps leading down to the front door and got there on my butt hitting every stop...I couldn't walk for about three days. Hope you aren't sore too long!
from arizabif :
If you need a place to stash pictures, try www.photobucket.com. It's free, and they have a pretty generous bandwidth limit.
from seducible :
Glad you had a good weekend :) You mentioned your nephew from Germany (has he a German accent?) and I thought of this adorable little boy I saw on TV that was American but lived in Germany and was asked to speak German, and when he did, it was the cutest thing I ever saw. (probably because my dad's family is German)
from seducible :
I loved the Lichen paint color. It was one of my favorites. Those are very nice colors for a baby room, I think. And no, I wasn't offended...sometimes I want to hit my sister, too. :) Thank you for the compliment!
from seducible :
Oh don't get me started on indecision over paint colors! I chose Martha Stewart's "Venetian Glass" for my room in this apartment and I love it. It's very vibrant but also calming (oxymoron). Her colors are really great and the paint covers quite well.
from autumn-dove :
Enjoying your diary. On your 6-11-04 entry, you refer to a song stuck in your head. If ya have a few - check out my 6-25-04 entry that is a thought tickler on just that. They call them earworms. Good Luck to you and God Bless.
from miss-katie :
oooh yes please. One of those pills. and make it work for beer? Because lately I just wanna have a BEER and some nachos or some such. Oh well. Eventually.
from bluecharis :
Geez, you poor guys... Didn't you have the house evaluated when you bought it? Can't you sue the previous owners for all the impending repairs they told you nothing about? Here in Germany, you could sue and you'd win, too... Anyway, all the best, love, Charis :-))
from seducible :
I wouldn't be too afraid. I know it was kind of hectic for my mom at times, since the older baby is still just that--a baby! But my sister and I were really close growing up and had great times together since we were so close in age. I hope everything works out with the roof!
from seducible :
How far apart will your children be born? My older sister and I are only 17 months apart. Definitely makes life interesting :)
from arizabif :
Hey, why not get Ian's car washed and waxed, instead of the balloons? I dunno what your money situation is, but you could have it detailed. I do that each year when my hub is gone for his annual work conference, and he always loves it. I wish some one would get my car detailed for me. *sigh*
from lolotte :
Thanks for your message, it does resemble my situation in some way, and it helps. Everything will be OK for you and your baby, I know it! Have you been taking 'belly' pictures, like you did for your first pregnancy? They're excellent, they reminded me of this short film I once saw that lasted 30 seconds - they're 'belly pictures' edited with a tic-tac sound, like an oven, and all of a sudden -bing!- she has a baby in her arms. :)
from arizabif :
The heat out there will be pretty staggering. He's probably only half-joking. I used to live up near Buffalo, and then moved down to Biloxi, Mississippi in the summer, and it was VERY overwhelming. Are you going to Vegas, too? Drink water. Drink a LOT of water. The heat is sooo different, and it's easy to get dehydrated. But uh, don't be scared! Heh. Have fun.
from seducible :
I wanted to thank you for the kind note before, and then when I went to leave a note, I saw your latest entry about your baby. And now your newest update, and I'm glad you researched enough that you have some sort of peace of mind. I hope everything is fine and you are both healthy!
from miss-katie :
Giant hugs and lurve lurve lurve. And the chance is so LOW, especially since you're so young. And I bet since your midwife had another patient with the same findings, that whoever's reading the ultrasounds is just being really sensitive about calling this particular thing and somebody else might have called it normal, you know? I hope that you'll be able to have some peace about it, whether you decide to do an amnio or just whatever. XOXOXOXO
from seducible :
I read the entry about your friend's death on my birthday, and I was feeling rather sad for myself, until I read your post. Then I realized that I have it better than let myself think. I hope you will be able to get through the pain of finding out.
from pazzobello :
So, so sorry about your old friend. *hugs*
from msguided :
Yay! A peek inside! I would totally cave in and find out the sex if I could. Then I'd go shopping and get more name specific and get all excited about X gender baby. In the end, it would probably turn out to be Y gender baby. But that is just my luck ;) Have fun today!
from bluecharis :
You poor little mite! Pregnancy and having little kids sure sound glamorous! Anyway, hang in there and all the best to you. Love, Charis :-))
from msguided :
Snarky, eh? I love being snarky sometimes ;) Mmmm, steak.
from seducible :
I hope you're feeling better. My parents are buying a house for the first time in their lives and panicking about money as well. Know how that feels! Good luck.
from pazzobello :
That's wierd... when I was pregnant I had spicy dreams about celebrities all the time too. Hmmmmm ;P
from crazeemomma :
I hope your head is feeling better and your appointment goes well!
from crazeemomma :
Wow! What crazy emails. lol! I hope your nasty weather has passed. We are about to get a really bad storm. The sky is so dark. Have a wonderful weekend!
from mommylap :
I would still wear capris even if they didn't look good I think. I love them. Also 3/4 length sleeves. Something about the effect of rapidly exceeding my clothing with my extremeties apparently. But the Brit WNTW is my favorite thing too because as curt and caustic as they are, the subject emerges better and with a sense of unmanufactured personality as well. I also love Stacy from the TLC show because she's always so teary over the improvements, as if she actually has a bond with the subject and is emotionally changed by their new look.
from miss-katie :
Gestational age is the same as the weeks from LMP. The one that is two weeks less is "fetal age." So I would say you're sixteen weeks pregnant but your baby is fourteen weeks old? I think? And average length of pregnancy based on fetal age is 38 weeks, the other one is 40 weeks. I'm pretty sure that's right but it's all so fricking confusing. Bleurgh.
from crazeemomma :
Good luck in getting a response from D-land! I've been a member (different diaries) for 3 years now and have never once gotten a response back. Sometimes it feels good to get out.. once you get out, huh? I can never get myself to actually get out and do anything though.lol Have a wonderful evening!
from miss-katie :
How far along is your friend? Which is to say, when can I expect this "reality of the pregnancy" thing? Because right now it is just not happening.
from pazzobello :
Cute house! I'm so lazy - I'd much rather read your entries than write one of my own. I don't think they'll allow a person pre-12 weeks in Yoga because the first trimester is considered more risky. I may have a Prenatal Yoga video somewhere if you want it - hopefully I didn't give it to Goodwill.
from poisonwood :
Hi, thanks for stopping by and for the condolences. It's not the turn I'd planned for, but getting a job & actually having money might not be the worst thing the world. :)
from msguided :
((hugs)) Down days are no fun. And I totally hate getting Funked Out! Good luck with E's constipation. My own Pie went thru that for a year. Diet and suppositories. I know...it wasn't pleasant, but it was the only thing that worked. Icky info, but I 'monitored' how often she'd go and give lots of raisins if I suspected it had been too long.
from tanzy :
I'm not having much luck with signmyguestbook.com, so I apologize if you get this message two or three...or four times. This is what I was trying to say: I just realized I didn't respond to the msg you left in my gbook over a month ago about the minivan! Sorry about that! But yes, I totally have a $1000 gift certificate for you. Just let me know if you want it! It expires Sept. 30/04. Dealers will put extra incentives on 2004 model year vehicles around July/August so they have room for 2005 model year stuff...so if you add another $1000 off, it's not a bad deal!
from bluecharis :
Hey there! Loved your current entry. Don't despair about hormones or parents! Now, that I'm writing you this note, I suddenly know, that I don't have much to say, but I wanted to leave you a few words of encouragement anyway... So, do you feel encouraged now? ;-)) Anyway, take care, have fun, enjoy your pregnancy and your little family, love, Charis :-)
from pazzobello :
I thought it was so funny how you said you were missing E when you saw the babies on ER. I was the same way! Plus, the only reason I'm watching it again (I banned it after they killed off Green) is because of that horrible story with Kerry losing her baby after her wife died. It makes me so sad, but I can't NOT watch it!
from greekjenny :
omg he is adorable!!! I want a babyyyyyyyyyyy boohooo
from hausfrau :
He is soooooo cute! I miss babies. :)
from greekjenny :
Hope you had a Great Easter Michelle !!! And dont mention the word "chocolate"..Sheeeesh have u ever seen someone saying "alcohol in front of an alcoholic? lol
from greekjenny :
Hey Michelle!!! How come I didnt discover your diary till now??? weird weird hehe. I wanna say congrats again for your pregnancy and I hope I'll follow soon. Hugsssss
from bluecharis :
Hihi, Happy Birthday to the little man! I must say, I don't know how you North Americans can eat such strangely colored food, though... :-)) I wish your son and the rest of your family all the best! Love, Charis
from kaylap :
Just figured out that this is your 'comments'. HA! I totally can relate to the smells thing. When I was about ten weeks pregnant I *insisted* that we replace our mattress, because I thought it smelled funny.
from autumn-dove :
Stumbled on your diary and liked it. Terry Woodford, a record producer, created a CD for babies and crying babies that utilized the mother's heart beat and more. It puts babies to sleep w/i a few seconds. I video taped the whole session and copied it down word for word. I have just put it on my site on this March 19 entry tonite for ya. Going to send the video to 2 of my recently pregnant stepdaughters. Pls. check it out - know you'll be interested! We are going to check into getting book and CD for the kids. God Bless. God Bless.
from pazzobello :
Wow! I really gotta start reading your diary every day, instead of catching up every two weeks... too much happens to you too quickly!! Congrats on the house, and mega CONGRATS on the new baby. I'm so impressed by you that I think I will start to idolize you and your ability to handle quite a full load on your shoulders! PS- I've NEVER heard of a person having two babies that won't sleep... one is all anyone can handle. Guaranteed the next one will be easy as pie :-) HUGS :-)
from bluecharis :
Hey there and congratulations on the new pregnancy!! I'm really happy and excited for you!! Lots of strength for the move and all good vibes for you and your family, love, Charis :-))
from sahm :
i locked my diary username is 'lock' password is 'down' congrats on the new job!
from arizabif :
Keep in mind, the new job will very likely give your husband a relocation package. If they don't, he should definitely inquire about it. Three weeks of temporary housing really isn't that long for a company to pay out, and is totally reasonable for you to expect from them, as well as payment for a moving company to pack and move your stuff. Of course, moving is always a pain, no matter how you do it. My suggestion: sell everything, and buy new once you get there. Moving sucks big butt!
from miss-katie :
Even good stress is stress. And I just wanted to say that I would DEFINITELY go the "get an apartment while we look for a house" route. House-buying is stressful even when you have tons of time to do it, I think the added pressure would make things a lot more difficult. Just my 2 cents. good luck with all of it....
from pazzobello :
I am SOOOOO glad you wrote to me. I neglect my diary (and the reading of others) for a few weeks and you go and lock up on me!! I'll give you a password if you'll give me one :-) (Unless you're just switching to this other diary - in which case I guess I don't need one! ) So happy you contacted me. -Erica
from amomslife :
Your guestbook hates me, so even though I no longer write here...I'll send you a NOTE from here! What I TRIED to say in your guest book was: Thank you SO much for the info!!! Have you heard of anyone having luck with this method??
