You're an excellent writer. By the way, Victoria's Secret owns Lane Bryant. I used to work for Lane Bryant and that's what I was told. They also own Express and Bath & Body works. It's all about trying to please every single segment out there to maximize their dollars. So I guess they line one thing big... their bottom line!

It's December of 2005 and I finally join diaryland and realize all of the goodness it offers and this diary is truly a gem! I love the fatcamp metaphor, I love the honesty and how you have the ability to make me sympathize (empathize?) as well as laugh my ass off. I wish there were updates, but I'll enjoy re-reading all of these entries! Thanks.

Came across your diary by accident and liked what I read--you're deep and thoughtful. I thought I'd let you and all your readers know about a great experience I had at Green Mountain at Fox Run. It's a camp for women, and their emphasis is on fitness and NOT dieting. I learned things I never knew before (and I'm pretty educated!), and as a result, I feel like my whole life has turned around. Women of all ages and sizes go there, and they work on accepting yourself for who you are and just getting healthy. If you're interested, check out www.fitwoman.com. Incidentally, the food there is fantastic. It was wonderful, and I recommend it for any woman who wants to get fit and work on image and food issues. It's also in an absolutely gorgeous part of Vermont. Good luck with everything--

your diary is all the words i wanted to say. I just wasn't able to put them together as eloquently as you are able to.

say 'screw society'?

i'm so happy i found this diary! it completely summed up what i've felt with plenty of my friends when we go shopping for the last 7 years. it feels great not to be alone.
from retailharlot :
I just wanted to let you know that I read your diary and I think it's great. I am your age, and struggled a LOT with my weight when I was a teenager. I do, indeed, remember what it was like trying to buy clothes and finding absolutely nothing (particularly within a certain price range). I think it's really neat that you've dedicated your diary to this, because it has the potential to touch a lot of people in profound ways. Does it help you heal, or does it hinder healing?
from iamafatgirl :
Wow. This last entry is the EXACT way that I feel. Maybe we should get together and write a letter to Victoria's Secret.......or maybe I should go to college and major in fashion design and marketing. That's it. I'm taking some marketing classes in the fall. Hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!
from purplebanana :
Yep. I agree completely with your latest entry. Back in the day, my best friend and me wanted to be bra designers since the only bras we could find to fit us big girls looking like they were structually sound enough to hold up Europe, and they REALLY looked like it, if you know what I mean. Ugh.
from zaftig77 :
Love ya girl. Big Hug! F*ck the haters!
from cutiepie1983 :
Hi there! I was going through other members diaries of the big n proud diary ring and found yours. I read that last entry and I enjoyed it. Us fat chicks have to stick together. So, hopefully you'll update, or get in touch. Keep in touch. It is all good! Hope you're feeling better! ~Nancy~

... dont try to wage a war against your body. It'll only fight back harder. Trust me, I was there. I used to be over 200 lbs, at only 5'3". Now I weight a little less than 140. I don't know how overweight you are, but if you are as heavy as I was, it only requires a little extra effort to get the ball rolling. Jog up the stairs instead of walking. Walk places instead of driving. DON'T GO TO THE GYM. Just... work with your body instead of against it. Eat lots of apples (they make you feel full when you're not). Cut out the sweet and salty crap that has no nutritional value. I know how unhappy life is when you're not thin. I know how it kills you inside to think that people look at you differently and won't look past the layers of flub. And I know that under that flub, you have a spectacular personality. All the fat kids do. And a heart of gold, I'm sure. So why not think about it this way: work to let your outside reflect your inside, not the other way around. And screw skinny. No one wants skinny anyway. People just want healthy. So do it for health. And because YOU want to. If you try to do it for anyone else, it'll never work the way it should. ... if you need a sympathetic ear, drop me a line or email me... phyre_solo@hotmail.com

Your diary is lovely to look at...the greens are swell. No one hears me when I talk either, but I never had to suffer through fat camp, fortunately.
