really? do tell...and, i actually just emailed the boss lady over there to throw my name into the hat...what the hell, right?
from theshivers :
thanks for the advice! I've done the anonymous thing once and, generally, I don't feel like I'm having *too* much trouble with the others - but I get what you're saying about how that might go...lemme just say this is giving me new respect for teachers. It's cliche, but true!
from sundaygirl :
Hmmmm.... I don't know! Is he married? Does his name start with a P or an M?
from tcklyrpharsn :
oh man... i'm also abstaining from alcohol. I'm not on a diet, per se, but I've gained like ten pounds this summer from drinking all night, topping off the evening with a falafel sandwich, and being too hungover next day to exercise. Yuck and double yuck! Good luck!
from tcklyrpharsn :
No! You can do it! Just a little beer a day! I have every faith that you can get it back. Don't grow out of beer! No no no!
from tcklyrpharsn :
you will not be a bridezilla you will not be a bridezilla. just say no! congrats on the date! hoorah!
from tcklyrpharsn :
(((((hugs)))))
from auroraborea :
how does one become one of the 'chosen few' ? i do so enjoy your stories and am greedy for more :)
from discodave :
You missed him first time round too, didn't you? It makes me relax slightly that I saw them and heard them and dismissed them all those years ago and wasn't the only one. Dxx
from discodave :
I have the distinct impression that it may, in fact, be my punctuation that's all out of whack, rather than your comprehension, but thanks anyway. And I think it's funnier thinking up alternate Disneyfied versions of the film than seeing the real thing right now (although we in the UK will get to see it anyway). Dxx
from discodave :
I need to visit your other blog more often, I've discovered. And sorry to hear about your dad, although that is one of those cancers that does make its presence felt early enough for treatment - kinda like my dad's bladder cancer (in remission for over two years). Hugs, though, for what they're worth. Dxx
from discodave :
It really does, though. Silly man. Not that I care if he is, I just don't get why he went for such a stupid story. Too many British farces, I guess. Dxx
from discodave :
I'm pleased to see we're still battling it out for superiority on babble - I was worried I was going to get sand kicked in my face by you lot. Mike's just showing off, though. Dxx
from tcklyrpharsn :
HA HA! That is AWESOME! I am so dumb... I guess I just assumed, since I'm over here. What do you mean, the world doesn't revolve around me? I won't hear it. Anyway, yeah. Erm...we'll just pretend like this all never happened, kay?
from tcklyrpharsn :
Well, fuck it all! I just left Athens! And nothing but all sun and all warm, all the time. Hope it's the same for you!!! (even if the acropolis is under scaffolding) Cheers from Roma...
from discodave :
You mean they don't show the video for Wired For Sound? Cross Starlight Express with Rollerball and you're half the way there. That man disturbs me. Dxx
from sjubla :
congrats on the conference you! can you email me a picture of the dress?
from tornadoali :
A beer bottle up the bum, hmm? Nasty. Thanks for the note you left me. And by the way, I got "Chutes Too Narrow" for Christmas and I dig it, too.
from tcklyrpharsn :
i hate money too. yup.
from theshivers :
ps, yes we should trade Cds!
from flashingreds :
The Chicago 1/17 Old 97s show is at midnight. MIDNIGHT! But I haven't seen the whole band together since 97, when they hit C-U in support of Too Far to Care. I'll make like I'm 21 again and hit the road. We'll warm the boys up for you. (Ah, if only.) Waiting's hell, though.
from daylightkaty :
Ugh, I felt like I've swallowed ten packets of Nutra Sweet after seeing that film. And feck! Could we get any dumber than that Jenny character? I am so bitter that this is the bar that has been set for feel good movies....
from sugar-slit :
Holy moly! I LOVED Jason Bateman when he was on Silver Spoons. I must've been 6 or 7, but I would fantasize about him! It's Your Move was probably the best show on TV that year, but way before its time. So good.
from sugar-slit :
Hello, I just found you on tcklyrpharsn's site and I really like you. Thought you'd want to know. I don't have anything else to say. Why am I still writing? I can't stop!! What the hell? Okay, I'm going to stop now...no, NOW!
from theshivers :
i so feel your pain. My eyeballs are about to pop out of their sockets and my head is raging. Tell me again why we wanted to go to grad school?
from disquiet :
why thank you, ma'am. i've been in love with the whigs for years & years, but this past weekend was my very first experience with st. dulli on stage. '96?! oh, fuck. how jealous i am can't be described with words; how could it be bad!? in any case, the twilight singers live show, drug-influenced or not, gets my highest recommendation. i think they'll be in yr hood soon..? either way, i'll email you my cell # & we can hook it on up for drinks in rittenhouse square. t-minus 2 weeks & counting. xoxo.
from amishboy :
You know people that met through a Springsteen 'zine? That's priceless.
from discodave :
I tried to agree with you with headshaking and quivering at the memory of Bob yesterday, but it didn't want to let me. So I'll try again now: Yes, Bob was scary as scary can be - strangely, though, he was only the onset carpenter. Mr Lynch must have thought he looked scary - very perceptive man, that one. Dxx
from daylightkaty :
oh, I love mates of state and it was miss molly achren that drug me out to see them and i have been forever thankful. Re: Elimidate. Yes, I so longed to have someone appropriate to make "can you fecking believe that!" faces with as he talked. So imagine my pleasure to know you were readin'. Damn, if I could get you that tape it would be such fodder for future jokes. And, if I never said it, that CD you made me is absolutely bitchin'
from theshivers :
i am SO jealous of your DCFC and Long Winters shows....yes, I do like the Long Winters album quite a bit (sorry it took me a while to get back to you on this...) actually it took a while to grow on me, but now i really dig it...here's to intellectual hedonism, you defiitely deserve it : )
from flashingreds :
Yep, the Long Winters, too. After the baseball game was called for rain and FOX put "Varsity Blues" on, it was easy to go early for PBR and an unknown opening band. It was marvelous. And packed. Kids loved 'em, too.
from flashingreds :
Split box spring all the way, baby. Maude would do it. She'd also report on the New Pornographers show. (We're so jealous.)
from discodave :
Because something has gone screwy with the guestbooks, I'll say it here - congratulations! Dxx
from tornadoali :
Hey! Thanks for the note (several weeks back). I'm glad to know JCM would at least get two votes (yours and mine) in this fictional election I'm dreaming of in my head. His presidency, I believe, would totally rock. --T.A.
from angsthase :
"Key West Intermezzo"? Or something like that. It was definitely JCM.
from angsthase :
What about that JCM truck commercial song?
from disquiet :
a (very underage) boy i used to date was among the 15 people at the philly LW show with you last week. maybe you saw him -- he is very tall with curly hair and glasses, but is not sean. haha. we'll be sneaking in with the dudes (or trying to, anyway), but getting two people into a drinking show in chicago on a friday night can be a bit tricky. here's hoping, and here's to my birthday (and the end of this 21+ nonsense!) in a month. xoxo.
from disquiet :
have fun in the city of brotherly love, dear. xo.
from disquiet :
i hear you, sister. i want people to know what's up, but i don't want people to think i'm bragging or namedropping. sometimes keeping it to a first-name or initialed basis still doesn't make me feel impervious to attack. it's a tough business. leif garrett, though? colour me jealous! xoxo.
from elisabeta :
did you watch GIRL? that is by far my favorite terrible dominique swain movie. i mean come on, it's called GIRL.
from disquiet :
oh, my. you know & love the long winters. yer friends with molly. and you are a charming & lovely writer. can't go wrong with that; thank-you for adding me to yr favourites list. xo.
from discodave :
I like that - enjoying the concept of Lynch's films. I understand what you mean, completely. Any idea where your friends are playing? 13th Note, King Tuts? Dxx
from discodave :
To be fair, you haven't missed much by not watching the whole film - once you've got past the Chris Issac and David Bowie cameos, it basically boils down to a very brief synopsis of the first and last episodes. Dxx
from sjubla :
congrats to you both. i love you guys.
from sjubla :
YAYYYYYYYYYYYYY! doctor muse!
from flashingreds :
Ah, shucks. Who wouldn't lose control of essential motor functions, not to mention rational conversation, when speaking to Neko Case? She is, we've established, utterly amazing. She's also probably mortified at the thought that anyone thinks she's so divine. What's she up to these days?
from onepinksock :
ok, why do i know a lot about ronnie james dio?? do i?? i don't think i do.
from ammo-dots :
For what publication, pray tell, do you write record reviews for?
from raven72d :
Not to worry about a Southern accent. I'm from New Orleans, but I've managed to avoid the accent altogether. As a girl, though, bear in mind: a Southern accent on a girl can be used as a major weapon. It tends to reduce Northeastern males to whimpering submission.
from raven72d :
I suffered through grad school myself; I do sympathize with the war for funding. And I'm holding out for the Arcadia reunion. I always pretend to be Nick Rhodes after a few vodkas.
from cheapseats :
As much as I *do* like the d-plan, one of my co-workers brought in a copy of David Byrne's self-titled solo album, and I was overtaken with a sudden urge to go to some hip watering hole and play it for the kids there and say "no, really, it's the next Dismemberment Plan album". I suspect that they'd believe me.
from deadawake :
...i like your diary :)...
from pearljamie :
