Hey fucking great diary site. I soo love Green Day too! I am so jealous that you got to meet them. I didn't but my sister did. She finagled her way backstage at the Warp Tour some years back and managed to steal one of Tre's drum heads from their equipment tent for me. (she got chased by a rodie)It's cool cuz it has his smudgy fingerprints on it from when he lit his set on fire. She also got me all their autographs! I've seen them 3 times live too! Hi, Saw your great site and must tell you the sad and awful truth. I became a punk in Oct. '78 in SLC, UT. I knew Heroin Bob and Stevo (based on Steve O'Reilly who was later in the band "All"). I partied at their places many, many times. Stevo's apartment was called Hell House, and the apartment Bob had later was called Hell House II (there were later Hell Houses). I haven't seen SLC Punk yet, but I've heard a lot about it. I get the feeling that it was written by one of the little dopes who used to hero worship them. Sorry to say this, but the real Heroin Bob was one of the lamest, stupidest, most egotistical fucks I've ever met in my life. I mean he had ego with nothing to base it on. He was literally a poser. Fashion Punk by any other name. He posed on stage (in the group LDS). He posed in his apartment. He probably even posed while he was taking a crap. His whole existence was nothing but a bloody pose! His brother Kim was no better. Their music wasn't original. Not by a long shot. They sounded like any one of 10,000 other bands. What bugs me the most about Bob is all of the 15 year old girls who he got addicted to heroin. It was just so he could always be assured of a fuck. What a man. Steve was kind of OK though. At least he had some intellegence. That bit in the movie about law school or whatever isn't true (as far as I know, I lost track of him around '83). He went off with All and became semi-famous. But he still wasn't anything special. Definitely nothing to write a movie about. He could play a guitar fairly well, I'll give him that. His band in Salt Lake, "The Massacre Guys" was OK. But damn! They were just OK, not great, O - K. A much better story of "SLC Punk" would be that of Brad Collins and Norma Normal and what was going on with them when they started their radio show "I'm So Bored with the USA." Norma was straight from New York in '79 and infected the town with more of the punk virus. Brad basically brought the music in for us to buy. He started Raunch records which was an incredible little store. They helped bring bands to town like X, the Damned, Black Flag (many times), TSOL, The Minutemen, Minor Threat, Butthole Surfers. (I made the posters for some of those shows). I mean, they really were at the center of everything. They also were nice people, and genuine, too. Not like Heroin Boob. He was just a narrow minded, weasely little poser fuck. The very first years of punk in Salt Lake were incredible! Everything was feckin new. We had to make it up as we went along. Heroin Bob came along a few years later and tried to use the "scene" to boost his ego. He only started being a punk when being one became a status symbol at his high school. My old friends and I got into it when we were just about the only punks in town. We were definitely in the first 20. When Bob got in, there were well over 1000. It was safe to do it then. Shit, I almost lost one of my eyes and died because I had the nerve to be a punk in those early days. Then along came pukes like Bob who were just in it for the fashion. I dunno, maybe I was stupid for wanting to change the world. Anyway, sorry for the rant. I just had to say what was on my mind. zaquerty "Don't hate me Trinity, I'm only the messenger"

Thanks for the note. The show was kick ass. My friend brought up a way for me to talk to them without sounding like a loser. Too bad I can't go back in time!! So I'll leave a tip.
