from cdghost :
have you heard of the cherubs?
from sarahcherry :
Um, I forgot how much I heart you since I have forsaken/forgotten Diaryland for a while but my love is renewed even though you haven't updated in ages. You're pretty neat, you know.
from f-i-n :
hihihihi
from better-days :
so i've been coming back and fourth here to read your reveiws and i must say that i really do enjoy them. maybe its because we seem to share similar opinions on our music? oh and, i also am quite the sucker for saddle creek bands. so keep it up. xx
from gothangel :
long time no hear... hows life? stoppin by to say hello.
from teen-christ :
just curious, are you gonna make a top of 2004 list, cause man.... I would really like to hear your thoughts on this year of music.
from peteypuke :
i just read your review for the AZURE RAY show which I missed for a reason so dumb that i am just going to lie and say I slipped into a coma instead. I will now proceed to flog myself 400000 times with a spiked mace.
from teen-christ :
man finally you write about xiu xiu! Ive seen them twice though and I really wasn't to into their performance, one was because of the venue, and the other was because of the setlist they choice... but I'm glad you liked them!!! My friend got to interview jamie stewart... he's gay too, I found that rather unexpected.. and even though we aren't big fans of them live we still go girly girl over jamie stewart. hardcore!
from bonnylisbon :
I tried sending you an e-mail ages ago, and only today did I find out that it didn't work, so anyhow, I hope you're well.
from bonnylisbon :
I sent you an e-mail today. So, what's the next show gonna be?
from bonnylisbon :
Have you ever heard of Nick Hornby? He wrote About a Boy and High Fidelity? Well, he recently compiled and edited this book on the best music writing of 2003. It's a decent book with stuff on Sleater Kinney and Billie Holiday, but anyhow... the first article is a a guide for music snobs, it's pretty hilarious. I qualify, I'm sure you do to. You might get a kick out of it, check it out.
from bangzombie :
Not only are you in the bloodbros diaryring, but you're obviously a fan of Azure Ray too. Oh my. ♥
from screemingink :
wow. i like you. and i also like your music list very much. id have to say im aquainted with 19/20 of the bands youve listed and more than half of em are my favorite or were at a point in time. i commend you, indie snob. with an elite taste in music. and quest for it as well.
from rocker-angel :
hey, known about the yyys forever. saw them at a music festival back in may (along with modest mouse, violent femmes, and the cure). love them to death. i enjoyed your review.
from jabbatehslut :
Do you like Sufjan Stevens?
from renald :
rarr! your impressive music taste is no match for my puny weapons. That list on your profile is very, very nice. props
from blondeh :
hi, i love your reviews. i thought you might be interested in a singer/songwriter from canada named danny michel. he's got a site, www.dannymichel.com. hope you like it.
from teen-christ :
ha. gossip rock! me and my friends always visit with beth after the we see them, they've played portland 3 times in the last year. their best show was with ima robot. and I'm still waiting for an xiu xiu review, but i'll be patient... they are touring aren't they?
from cylinderspun :
whoot whoot. so you dont knwo me but i heart much-o of your music. anyways im new to this shit and i guess i thought my j and melo werent enough and im completly lost. i thought damn this sailor likes good music they will help me. help me? ahah i cant figure a damn thing out wiht the colors and all. suposse i should ahve stayed wit the livejoural but eh. my sn is - violence stakes that is if you decided to help. if not no worries. xx p.s-i didnt get aournd to reading all your music curious if you like postal service? sorry if they are on there.
from jabbatehslut :
Yar, thanks.
from jabbatehslut :
Lemme into your sadle-creek diary ring or I'll cut you with my awesome music taste, please.
from teen-christ :
thanks for your insites, I was curious when i saw you liked them and I will look forward to the review. I'm thinking it was the venue that made the show so bad... bad sound for a synth type band like xiu. I'm hoping they play some where else next time.
from teen-christ :
have you seen xiu xiu live yet? I noticed you are into them and recently saw them and was pretty disapointed and I want to know what's your take on them live... if you've seen them.
from lickautistic :
hiya mate. your reviews are truly something to be proud of. you and i share a proffession (and, strangely, an age) as i am a writer for a little newspaper here at home. kudos on your music tastes as well.
from lickautistic :
hiya mate. your reviews are truly something to be proud of. you and i share a proffession (and, strangely, an age) as i am a writer for a little newspaper here at home. kudos on your music tastes as well.
from teen-christ :
I saw the dandy warhols once, and they played for 2 and a half hours. It was way to long for them, but they had no opening bands... so I guess they just didnt want us leaving unsatisfied. heh.
from pixie-mobile :
i love death cab, the pixies, modest mouse, radiohead, the strokes, and so many other bands mentoined there. does anyone listen to summer at shatter creek?
from pixie-mobile :
aaah theres so many good bands everywhere!!!
from cdghost :
interesting to read and experience
from iamaparadox :
I agree with you about Travis, they're awesome!
from parlance :
Ohhh, Travis. They make me smile, too :) They are quite good, yes...
from godmoney :
love it! rock on.
from kelky88 :
You are too lucky with the Pedro, DCFC, and Kweller concert! Milwaukee hasn't been having any good shows, i have to go to chicago to see any good music! The death Cab concert here is the one night i can't go and Pedro never comes to Wisconsin same with Kind of like spitting and Built to spill. I offically want and need to move to chicago or NY just so i can see actually good music.
from kelky88 :
I wanted to say that i really enjoy your reviews, i was just chekcing out my real old journal and i saw i put you asa friend. Your reviews, in my opinion, have gotten better! I also feel bad becuase before i thought you were a girl! oops my mistake!
from back-drifts :
sooooo, does this mean if I miss them this year (in frisco w/ben kweller! NOOOOO!) it won't be a huge miss? because I adore death cab, but I do like postal service a smidge more. and I myself too, do love the older death cab songs. I also find ben to be quite the cutie :P anyway, your review served a good purpose for me: it made me FAR less regretful over probably missing their show in May.
from andwebreathe :
I saw DBC a year and a half ago, and EVERYONE sang along and it was a very intimate experience. But he had Seville and Brand New opening for him. Brand New were so trashed & they sucked pretty badly, and seville just sucked. Now I actually love Brand New. So I know what you're talking about with the bad openers and the sell out.
from opopopo :
hah, way to much time on your hands there, buddy. but seriously, linguini fell out of the elbows of the turtle with camping shoelaces. i then bit the broccoli covered tissue on its gratuitous fortune. beees. also, splendid with the music and the refrigerated moles and what not. god, what the hell am i talking about? who the hell am i anyway?
from broken-face :
I remember seeing Dashboard when they opened for Weezer in 2002. With EVERYONE singing along it made up for the shame of knowing all the lyrics. Ah, well, good memories.
from rentinmymind :
thank you for talking to me :)
from vesselland :
great. just came across and i will step by more often from now on. keep it up...
from bloodsun :
great taste in music, especially "goldfrapp" and "polyphonic spree" :)
from carrythezer0 :
hey its michelle. here is my new diary.
from succexy :
awesome bands, but i think you need to put up a few more :)
from irishblueyes :
Hi. I have submitted my site for entry into your diaryring. I have to admit that my taste may not be quite as indie as yours, but I hope that you'll find I have a quite eclectic mix of albums that could rival anyone's. You'll find a complete album list on my site, and I guess by updating profile you want to be added to the buddy list, so I will be doing that as well. By the way, the show review site is a great idea. - Peace.
from octoberspast :
I love your music choices. You are one of the only other people that listens to saturday looks good to me, I swear. Hahahaha good good music.
from glittakisses :
Dude, you like your music! lol.
from naivepegasus :
sorry. I did lie, to get your attention. But I do have a review of people who are part man, part racoons, or Mancoons, if you will. Check it out!
from naivepegasus :
I ate a baby today, and I wrote a review of it. You may wanna check it out. Beware the mancoon!
from sketchesinme :
hey, this is Marissa (Uncouthgirl) I was in a couple of your clubs and such and I just thought i'd let you know i made a new diary (sketchesinme)- whether or not you care i dont know, but i would like to rejoin some of your clubs (indie-snobs I think was one, Park ave., and the conor oberst one). Anyways, keep up your diary- i'm still reading. <3 Marissa
from hildeguardog :
i suggest you add some Moxy Früvous to that record collection, preferably Bargainville. theyre a canadien political folk kind of a band, and they're oh so fun.
from barlights :
Hey, didja read my review of the Strokes in Seattle? Check it out...
from musingvision :
i saw q and not u recently.. it was great, do you have a review for them up?
from musingvision :
haha indie snob, what a wonderful name:) nice reviews or waht not
from raychol6 :
that's fine. i just happened across your page and thought i'd do a bit of teasing.
from raychol6 :
calling yourself indie is really nerdy. but that's ok
from starre-eyed :
Sorry about my mistake...I fixed it, though! Oh, and did you hear about dear Elliot Smith? For he is no longer with us. .::Sighs::.
from katima :
jesus etc. is my favourite wilco song too.
from billyidol :
Okay, first of all the band's name is Eastern Youth, not The Eastern Youth. Secondly, I have been a fan of theirs for about three years, longer than anyone else I know, including my boyfriend who has lived in L.A. since the early eighties and saw them play at The Troubadour with No Knife (who got booed by people who LEFT after EY's set, most of these people had never even heard of Eastern Youth before). Secondly, Eastern Youth's music is a lot easier to listen to than stuff like Cursive (whom I do not like). There are no abrupt changes in tempo like you get with other "emo" acts. Also, if you know anything about playing guitar you would realize that Yoshino is amazingly skilled and that he writes complex songs with chord structures that are frankly, fucking impossible to play correctly. On the whole, all of them are less about indie posturing than they are about playing fucking amazing rock music. You won't find any stupid fucking haircuts or lame vintage clothes on any of the band members. Also, they've never gotten any airplay in the U.S. until recently, so they don't get that flavor-of-the-week hype you get with other shitty indie rock acts like Bright Eyes, Cursive, etc. (Saddle Creek acts in general, though I have to admit I have a soft spot for The Good Life and The Faint). They have a totally different sound than every other indie act out there. Maybe that has to do with the fact that they are inherently Japanese. Unlike other Japanese rock bands, they do not sing in English. They only sing in Japanese. The lyrics and even melodic structure of some of their songs reflects culture Japanese influences. Lastly, Eastern Youth plays with incredibly energy and intensity, the likes of which I rarely witness in any live show. Maybe that's why they turn audiences off, I mean, none of these indie kid loser wants anyone going off next to them, screaming and :gasp: jumping around in front of the stage. Hell, that person might knock the pins off their precious messenger bag.
from starre-eyed :
Hello! Thanks for the note about your review of Wilco. I would LOVE to have the ooprtunity to see them, but alas, nobody comes to Memphis. I am so happy to meet someone with such similar tastes in music as mine. You extensive list of artsists is incredible. But...may I recommend the Magnetic Fields? I love every song he comes out with. Incredible, indeed! Thanks again!
from lyds5 :
Thanks for pointing me to the Wilco review. I've been a fan since AM - it's been really fun watching them develop. I was fortunate enough to have Wilco come to my school and play for the last day of classes last semester. It was an outdoor show, but the sound was still so good that it almost made me angry at other bands I've seen that never came close. The crappy thing was that 3/4 of the student body was all, "Wilco who?" and stood around looking bored.
from barlights :
Ja, I'll be doing up a Strokes review soon like. And I'll probably toss something in about the new Ryan Adams. Dug the Wilco review by the way. Noice work.
from back-drifts :
*growls* you got to see wilco headline a show?! GRRR. a hometown show at that. jeez. I agere with your observations, they were similiar to mine when I saw them open for REM in september. (what they were doing as an opening act I will NEVER know..) the band seemed so professional and tight, yet it really seemed like they were having fun and that they enjoyed each other's presence. did you see the documentary? that's what I enjoyed, and it really bled over to going to a wilco concert. I really enjoyed when they played "poor places" and right into "reservations". wow. and I only got to see them for 45 minutes! someday I'll see a long, headlining Wilco show. someday...I'm so obsessed with them, it's gotta happen someday. anyways. nice review, I'm super jealous you got to see that show.
from nonamecat :
hey thanks for the info on death cab, i really appreciate it. i love modest mouse so ill have to look into them...are you going to do a review of the show you saw on sat with them?
from cdghost :
maio, you have good sense
from laswell :
If you like music, in general we all have a mellow side and the only music that can make you really mellow is pure instrumental. Words only make us sad in the end cuz all love songs make you jealous if your not in love. Thats why we need to think outside of lyrics and focus on the beauty of audio waves. Try Bill laswell, buckethead, praxis, shawn lane, bill frisell, and the mars volta. They are hard to find so you need to look at amazon or something like this. Let me know what you think and if you like them help them spread their message they have a good one that we all need to understand.peace.
from syryn :
I just saw INTERPOL in Atlanta on thurs. night @ the ROXY. They were more than amazing.
from enid4seymour :
yours is an excellent diary. and you take full advantage of your rocking city. stop by my journal if you're in the mood for belly-aching and dime-store dream interpretation.
from deadradio :
hey, this is scorpioali here, informing you that scorpioali is no more. deadradio is the name of the game now. and i saw interpol when they played at the riv and i thought that it was absolutely amazing. i was really moved...it was one of the best shows i've ever been to. but, hey, at least you liked them.
from ambrosiah :
Salutations. Fabulous reviews! Lucky duck. I'd just about cut off my arms to see all of the bands you reviewed. Thanks for the info sweetest. Good mornings!.....(:
from f-cker :
wo. you got a neat little link system here. i'm just on my way out now, but i'll definately be reading your interpol review. they're so good.. har har. *loves them* xo
from violettemper :
Hey! Thanx for telling me about your Interpol review. I read your diary and liked it muchly! I went to see Interpol in August for the third time and they were amazing, their support Franz Ferdinand were very, very good. I don't know if you've heard of them but they are really amazing; sort of like Interpol but weirder. I thought you might like them so if you can, check them out! x
from matchbox19 :
hey dude, you are an absolute legend!! i haven't had the opportunity to see interpol live, seeing as i live in australia and happened to be away for the gigs they did down here, so reviews are the next best thing. and they are awesome reviews. keep up the brilliant work mate!! cheers sarah :o)
from kacklefight :
was it just me or did interpol sound a little more weak after the last time they came around? i just saw them last week, and man... they were just better last spring
from barlights :
Hey dude. Your assesment of Rooney was bang-on. I had the misfortune of seeing them recdently in Austin. Unfortunately, the Sounds, who were the only band on the bill I actually wanted to see, ended up cancelling that night, so I was stuck with Paloalto and the headliners. I seriously don't get the Rooney thing: the songs are alright, but the singer is annoying as hell with his rock'n'roll poses, banal lyrics, and bad Joey Ramone vocal impression. And yet the kids went apeshit for it. If someone could give me a little insight into why these guys are blowing up while a band like Fountains of Wayne toils in (relative) obscurity, it'd be appreciated. Peace.
from feelmeout :
Thanks for your gift of shameless self-promotion AKA the note you left me. That's not meant to be harsh although it sounds like it is. ....Anyways, the review was very well done and I agree with most of the points made. It was one of the more honest ones I've read of late. Published music journalism has lost all integrity I’m afraid. But yeah, Rooney. Cool. Keep on rockin’ in the free world.
from punksrus :
Hey. Murder By death Rocks, and i have to say, you have a huge music selection. I'll have to make my christmas list from you... i can never remember what cds i want. Anyway, i'm adding you to my buddy list, and i'll keep up reading you stuff. |~*~PunksRUs~*~|
from xlefttoburnx :
dearest chris, my uberly jealous meter just went off. you got to see owen and *sigh*, damn you. although maybe i should be damning utah for it's idiotic laws. oi. sorry for damning you. no, no, i'm not. DAMN YOU! I WANT TO SEE OWEN!! sincerely, BRITTANIE
from tazzd98 :
i'm so envious! ted leo was scheduled to play near me. so of course, i was planning on going. then he had that whole vocal chord ordeal. when he rescheduled, he did not reschedule near me! i was a tad upset and i still haven't seen him. glad you got to though. :)
from polaroidrock :
so, imac + shitty aol = inability to read the whole review. it was a solo show, eh? that's pretty awesome. i'm seeing him and the pharmacists in st louis in november, possibly in omaha as well. i'm very excited about this. i've been listening to him constantly the last few months, my roommate is sick of him. i'm seeing lightening bolt on thursday and the sea and cake saturday. should be a fun extended weekend...i saw s&c in lawrence earlier this year and all i have to say is...sam prekop is amazing. also, i adore owen. not so much the newer album, but the self-titled is wonderful. okay, this note got long. i'm gonna hit up your website and read the whole review when i have access to a PC. the world hates macs, you know.
from vinndictive :
Dang being pretentious about music is fun! I read your most recent post and thought, "wow, this guy is the coolest!" Rock on kid, I do believe you know what you're talking about.
from volcomgal :
hey! thanks for the hit-up. sorry its takin me forever to hit you back....but ive been super busy. anywho... ummmm ya, hahah ill take that into consideration... and im always willing to listen to new music....soo no worries about that shit. as for cursive.. omg, u went to a concert of theirs!?!? LUCKY ASS! hahah they are actually playin near me on oct 25..and i really really wanna go... but, i have a test at 8am the next morning, and im scared that if i go.. i wont wake up in time to get my ass there :( wut do you think i should do!?!?!! ahhhh help!... latz! hit me back
from back-drifts :
I saw Radiohead on Tuesday night and it was much like the show you saw!(except, the acoustics were awful) they just rocked, I was so thrilled. and the coldplay show I went to in May was quite lovely as well. I'm SO jealous you get to go to all these shows! I have one more concert left and I will have seen a mere 18 bands. *s*
from kbaa :
love that you love le tigre. rock the fuck on.
from cdghost :
what GREAT taste in music!
from wibah :
After reading about the shitty rooney concert you had to go to I don't think I'll be going to one of their shows ever. But The Sounds are so kick ass and if I had to go to a rooney concert to see them live. I so would.
from blondeh :
I am terribly jealous that you saw the sounds, however I am very happy that you like them.
from cheesyweasel :
I didn't know Rooney was here (chicago!) Stupid teenybopper girls ruin everything :P >sigh< Don't go leave us Rooney... Good review though!
from deadinrome :
you got to see rooney live! +jealous+ very cool review diary _deadinrome_
from strummer- :
Great review. Too bad about Eastern Youth. I've heard great things about them and sampled that split ep. I guess "live" is really hit or miss.
from starbanshee :
awesome. thanks so much for sharing your concert experiences with us all. i will most definitely check out murder by death. i love it when the cello is used. amazing. btw, me and boo-on-spam are one and the same person. lol. thanks again. -samm.
from fabricmartyr :
Thanks so much for inviting me, it was refreshing to hear an intelligent and articulate person express their thoughts of bands I adore. Im jealous, MM came to Alaska (where I live) but they went to Koots a bar, and I couldnt go :( But I lived vicariously through your review, thanks, its been real....
from myblacksky :
it seems like you have some good taste/reviews, i will be checking back \m/-_-\m/
from xlefttoburnx :
lovely review on cursive and blood brothers. i was almost going to attend that show until the venue they're scheduled at changed to 18+. dagger. i have to keep telling myself that i only have a few months. *sigh* anyway, i love all your reviews and have even listened to some bands that you've reviewed. excellent taste you have. i'm slightly jealous. heh. word. i'm *out* -brittanie-
from commigurl :
it's most unfortunate that you did not like eastern youth's live show (i can't comment on it yet for they are scheduled to play here in october) and it's sad that your first experience with the greatest band in the world was not a good one. but i assure you, eastern youth has made some of the greatest fucking music in the world. the songs featured on the split with cursive are a very limited display of their talents and you can find few of their songs on kazaa. i have never heard any song as awsome as "girarizumu before dawn", "yoru no tsuioku", "imada imada yo", or "gozen yoji". i'd take a better look at some of eastern youth's music before you totally toss them out the window, you may find them to be much more talented than you expected.
from chaney :
I did, in fact, enjoy your review of the new Mogwai. You must pardon the lateness in my reply. I've been away and come back here to find my boxes filled with unanswered mail and my old diary riddled with broke images. You've also turned me onto, from what I've been able to hear, some new bands...but alas, I can't delve deeper for fear of the swift, iron gauntleted hand of RIAA justice falling upon me for attempting to try before I buy. But I shall certainly soon head to the local used record shoppe. -chaney
from feio :
i'm wondering perhaps if i may review the hidden camera's "the smell of your own" and also the polyphonic spree's "the beginning stages of...". i'd love to be a part of this.
from scorpioali :
are you seeing interpol when they come next week? and what school do you go to, is it in the city?
from toxic-beauty :
OOOH, good thanks for telling me :D
from endserenadng :
hey, that mum show WAS really amazing. i hadnt ever been to the logan square auditorium. i thought the sound was pretty good though. ((((i have an autographed, framed rhett miller poster. let me know if you want it. ....nice reviews, too.
from explodingboy :
nice kweller review eb*
from sad-night :
I love your diary! I added you to my list of favorites!
from ashahands :
what'd you think of alpine? Decent venue, especially on a beautiful night. cheers to the radiohead posting.
from scanzilla :
What this site really needs is some Led fucking Zeppelin reviews. For shame. Hey here's a joke, how many guys wearing studded belts and Neurosis t-shirts does it take to change a light bulb? Who cares? :) Seriously though, I dig the reviews.
from twelvetigers :
Hey, thanks for the post. I love Radiohead. Spinnig Plates is quite possibly my favourite song of theirs, so it's a shame they didn't play it. They played some damn good songs, though. So far, I've seen TOOL live once, and that's about it. I really do plan on going to many more shows, but I just have a hard time getting around right now. I also saw Elton John once, which must count for something. It wasn't your typical concert, but it was great anyway, and I did enjoy it. Anywho, I'll keep up with your indie list thing best I can. ^_^
from here-i-come :
with every word i live again through the eyes of another we'll meet at night wet from the rain and suprise each other with how we take away the pain could you be the one to find me safe and sound i know its wrong to love you from afar but its a craze
from opusshrugged :
i'm overflowing with jealousy ... happy you got to see radiohead/malkmus ... but still, i overflow.
from punkprinc3ss :
omg, I'm so sorry, I'll change it. osrry again.
from punkprinc3ss :
hey! thanks, I love the review on Liz Phair =D
from michell-er :
i love your reviews! radiohead oct. 6th in atlanta!!! :)
from scorpioali :
radiohead tomorrow! woo-hoo!
from golddustgrrl :
well, you got the snob part right. I'm starting to think that dumb guys rule.
from draggletail :
Nice Liz Phair review - I'm going to see tonight's show at the Metro, so thanks for upping the pre-show excitement! I'll also be at the Radiohead/Jicks show - have a great time!
from lutheniel :
thanks for the info, snobbish :D great reviews btw !! :D and i totally agree with you.. liz phair rocks ! :D lol no matter what she does. heh.. :D
from ashahands :
enjoying your reviews, especially the last modest mouse posting. I'd have to say, you can join the list with me of people who can put together a killer mixed cd. well done. cheers.
from opusshrugged :
i can't say i remember how i came across the site, but i have been enjoying it for a while now - it's nice to know that there are others with a passionate & eclectic love of music.
from slothra :
thanks for the note about the grandaddy review. it was nice to be brought back into the land of indie rock and english for a moment. i went to the first show of their tour before i left for méxico. they were a little nervous, but quite humble and crowd-friendly at home in california. i was completely impressed. as far as i´m concerned, grandaddy IS the central valley.
from passthemic :
yeah, see, bowery ballroom is sort of a pain in the ass. it's waaaay downtown, about a half hour subway/taxi ride from penn station. the last train back to my town from penn station is at about 1:30 am, and the next train after that is 6 am - which means i'll be stranded in penn station for the entire night if i go. which is not fun. oh well. :(
from prettyjunk :
I appreciated the note.
from prettyjunk :
I appreciated the note.
from glorycloud :
thanks for the note-I read some of your reviews-very interesting-reading your concert reviews makes me want to by a wild punk living in Chicago digging the indie music scene-I am right now listening to The Walkmen "Everyone Who Pretended To Like Me Is Gone"-I plan soon to buy The Kills CD "Keep on Your Mean Side" also a CD by Ester Drang "goldenwest"-plan to check out these you mentioned in your reviews The Detachment Kit, Rhett Miller, Lying in States, The Blood Brothers and Ben Kweller-well I close-I will keep reading your reviews-Jonny
from segyoo :
syd barett, pedro the lion, cat power, boards of canada, broken social scene, neutral milk hotel, modest mouse, velvet underground, calexico... amazing. simply.
from segyoo :
you listen to some really great music.
from plaidallstar :
Thanks for the note about the Supergrass review. I'm glad they put on such a great show, even though I'm bummed out that Supergrass and Radiohead aren't coming to my town. I like the fact that you're really into British bands. Rock on.
from enondoiel :
Thanks for letting me know about the Supergrass review you did! I really liked it, and you're truly a great writer who obviously have a lot of knowledge about this stuff! *admiring you shamelessly* Thanks again!
from mariogirl :
Man, I can't decide whether or not to go see Radiohead and Supergrass in October... But I think you may have just convinced me to take the long drive down to New Orleans.
from greenthinker :
Man. I admire you for actually going and reviewing all of those bands. I always try to be intelligent about the whole indie music scene, but I fail miserably. Anyhow, it's cool. Oh, and The Eels rock my socks. -sally
from pushpull :
hey, thanks for dropping me a note about your review of Palo Alto and Supergrass. I haven't seen either band live but I like both quite a bit. PA is the victim of record company crap - pity their show wasn't so great. Nice ta meetcha and hope to talk to you again sometime!
from babyshamble :
not at all :)
from killavril :
Syd Barrett and Henry Rollins trapped in an abandoned mansion for two weeks...now THAT'S reality TV, damnit!
from kennabeauty :
i know how you feel going to see Grandaddy alone. i couldn't find anyone to go to see Bob Dylan with me a few weeks ago, but i enjoyed it nonetheless.
from dilutedx :
GOOD. <3.
from tinyhiney :
Hey, there's a Paul Westerberg diary ring here on Diaryland if you're interested.
from screemingink :
WOW, you rule indie music all the way. that is awesome. great to find this diary. xoxo, Miss Takes.
from tinyhiney :
Thanks for letting me know about your Rhett Miller review! And I hadn't heard that he was going to be touring with Evan Dando in the fall. I hope they come through Southern Calif. Thanks, again!
from verbivore :
glad to see you enjoyed rhett!! i got to meet him a few months ago at a little in-store performance/signing... it's nice to see "happy" music with intelligent lyrics.
from lovechimp :
thanks so much for the note..i really appreciated it.
from nat-lej :
Wow...thanks I still failed to find that link, but despise that, I got to read the White Stripes review, and a few other ones while I was at it. They're really awesome; I’m just wondering how you can manage to see so many shows!
from christa02 :
man i SO loved your placebo review!!! I saw them last week but it was disapointing as i was in the wrong spot in the crowd and i COULD NOT SEE BRIAN! i was guttered, naturally...but they were good. cheers. christaxxxx
from killavril :
ok sorry...phantom planet and rooney are both better than AM Radio...and they are all pretty ugly...they're musics ok though! Give these guys a break!
from killavril :
ok sorry...phantom planet and rooney are both better than AM Radio...and they are all pretty ugly...they're musics ok though!
from mouse-attack :
great MM review, thanks for the heads up. i have a hard time reading them though because i just get so jealous that none of these great bands ever come to my city! but i'll keep reading if you keep posting! thanks.
from nat-lej :
I didn’t read your review... Never checked my notes till now. But you don’t have any archives, and I’m certainly not about to press the back aero till I find it. Thanks for the invitation anyways, I’m sure the review was sensational.
from kennabeauty :
i checked out ur reviews thanks for the note. you obviously get this a lot but it needs to be said that it's awesome that you can see all those great bands so often and ur reviews are really good as well. i envy that you've seen Radiohead and Modest Mouse live. anyway... i heard that Le Savy Fav was going to do some shows with Modest Mouse and i just wanted to know what you thought about their music because i haven't gotten the chance to hear them yet, but one of my friends seems to enjoy them. so if you get the chance that'd be cool. keep up the good work!
from sockfu :
nice review for Hail to the Thief. i know a guy who hates Radiohead for no reason, maaaaybe this will change his mind. maybe.
from loserxanthem :
i'm going to marry modest mouse!! eee! but i just thought that i'd like to mention that, seeing as modest mouse are only a hair [the shortest thinest almost invisible one possible] better than placebo, STEVE HEWITT IS THE BEST MEMBER OF THE ENTIRE BAND! brian is probably the best looing [guy in the universe] but NO ONE drums as fucking good as mr. steve hewitt. except maybe kami from malice mizer but he's dead so he doesn't count. =( g0od work, tho! KEEP IT UP OR I'LL MURDER YOUR FRIDGE!
from chaos-here :
I love HTTT...especially the last track.. i agree, it rocks. radiohead sucked me in with OK computer...Creep is just too perfect for an excuse
from soup-ina-bag :
Wow, I am speechless at the moment. Not only do I enjoy 75% of the same music as you, but I am in green envy with the fact you have the oppurtunity to see so many of them. You and your diray seem quite amazing, almost too good to be true.
from sukiro :
Woah, i just realized that you left me a note, probably a long time ago. Anyways, I like all your music on your profile, and where can i check out the beck review.
from sub-way :
coincidence about the postman, haha. by the way, ever listened to The Thrills? they're pretty good, if i do say so myself.
from hushedtears :
Thanks for the note, Blood Brothers is definately one of my favorite bands, and i had heard they put on a fantastic show, and i'm planning on going and seeing. Well that was an awesome review and makes my mind up on going and seeing them. Thanks again. ~Sarah~
from evermind :
Hey thanks for showing me this site! It's a great idea, and you write very intelligent reviews, lovely place! Cheers
from emo-slob :
Thanks! I really like the blood brothers! Word.
from blindliquid :

from emoisnotrend :

from molkosleazex :

from loveisdivine :
indeed the blood bros. are badass. wonderful review by the way. You seem to have a awesome taste in music. Very hard to find now a days. Well. I'm off. See you in the Mosh pit. -RC-
from pityme :
Hey, I really love the Blood Brothers and that was a great review. I hope they come to Calgary soon because, unlike you, I love crowds at hardcore shows... althought I must say the kicking hurts just the same as anywhere else. Keep up the good work! xo.
from sk8-sweetie :
hey cool thanks i'll check it out:)
from no-escaping :
hey! thanks for the note about the placebo review :)
from deaddesire :
thanks. that-was-lovely.ill-have-to-check-back...
from transparancy :
hello, thanks for the note. the placebo review was great. am really looking forward to seeing them this summer now. i was trying to find some other reviews by you but there doesnt seem to be a link to older...
from dust-settle :
maybe you can help settle something...do you think boys of summer (by the ataris) is from a guys point of view thinking of his ex or the girls point of view (the ex)?
from rabid-glow :
thanks for the interpol review. your writing style is beautiful.
from white-lies :
i'd like to combat lipaction's comments (*sigh* why must i do this on my own diary?). but: he or she used the example of my first review on the site. obviously, that was six months ago and I've tried to improve. but if anyone out there feels the need to give me constructive ideas on how to make my reviews better, more personal, etc, feel free to note me, sign my guestbook, email me or IM me. i'll be more than happy to listen to suggestions. "fuck you" and "i hate you" doesn't really put forth a nice, friendly vibe, though.
from erin-errrrin :
Thanks for the notes. Truth be told, I was pretty disappointed by Yo La Tengo and even more disappointed with THe Clean.
from lipaction :
Your writing style is so interchangeable and glossed over like, a Spin Magazine "Best of" edition, that it sickens me to the core. Take your review of the YYY's EP for example: "I had such high expectations for this (INSERT FORMAT HERE), too. (SINGER)'s vocals are obviously improved in (ALBUM)'s opening title track. The fast-paced guitars and pulsing drums are still present. In fact, (SONG) is a very different and refreshing approach to the band's sound. I can only say that it goes a little downhill from there. (ANOTHER SONG) is a quality song, but the (SOUNF EFECT)_over (SINGER)'s vocals and the over-emphasized guitar solos sound a little bit too (INSERT 80's comparison here) for the hipster sounds. (ANOTHER SONG) is by far different than anything demonstrated by the band's previous efforts, creating a lush, atmospheric sound that works surprisingly well with the more (INSERT GENDER HERE) vocals touched with (DESCRIBE STRUCTURE OF SONG IN MOST MINIMAL WAY POSSIBLE)." That said, you have no business reviewing music when no passion, no involvement, and no understanding is apparent in your "reviews". You are sucking the marrow of appreciating music to the point where it is dry; music isn’t something that should be collected and appraised like fine wine, there should be an emotional response to it and a distance from what is actually “good” and what is trendy . Fuck you and your easy-bake written meanderings.
from cateldragon :
hope your doing well. the reviews are really good, esp 4 the white stripes, but then i am biased. u just have 2 c my diary for that!!! ive only seen the white stripes once- reading festival 2002 in the uk- but they r sooo much better live then any other band ive ever seen. god i wish i had enough money 2 go and see loadsa gigs again! xx
from thefinalcopy :
i hear that whole outfit jack was wearing was made by a friend. and by the way whirlwind heat is doing a smaller venue tour with the kills.... that should be much more pleasing to the ears....
from elf-fancier :
hey the review of the flaming lips show was great! did they play a clip from "battle royale" during yoshimi? man that was the best concert i've ever been to and the starlight mints were fantastic. thanks for the note!
from carr0tstick :
thanks for the recommendation. you have a shitload in your collection!! love/luck/peace...
from lolasavage :
Hey. Fantastic writing with the taste to match. I was wondering what's the best show you've been to? Tata.
from hand-frost :
a diary dedicated to reviewing independent music and concerts? that's cool.
from hand-frost :
a diary dedicated to reviewing independent music and concerts? that's cool.
from babyshamble :
hey its ariel (formerly relz16)...i actually figured out the html stuff but thanks anyway! oh yeah and check out my site and tell me what you think (i need another reviewer's opinion..)cheers~
from iluvtunes :
By the way, when I first started this diary, I had planned on doing the same thing that you're doing (reviewing shows). It never seems to happen, though. Sure, I go to shows, but I end up talking more about the goofy drama that peppers my life than I do the actual show. Maybe someday I'll develop the discipline to write about the stuff that actually matters!
from llamanuggets :
Yo. Thanx for the note and what not, Ill be checkin up with your diary into the future for the reviews. Im becoming a big fan of the white stripes. I did hear about them from MTV, you could have guessed that since the only song of theirs ive recognized online is their somewhat overplayed MTV hit Seven Nation Army. If you're interested, I have more of a somewhat upbeat online journal on Melo: http://www.melodramatic.com/users/llamanuggets. Diaryland is going to be more of my editorial raging teenager crap. Peace. ~joe
from rivernymph :
You said that you had just reviewed the White Stripes...well, I am definitely interested :D they are an awesome band. -Raylene
from military- :
hey...uh...you seem to have many fans of yours on the site!well, i can't really say much because uh....i dunno, just because!I enjoy being a part of whatever this may be.^_^ best wishes, the anarcy military!
from relz16 :
hey dude-i'm starting a music review site here on diaryland (but no competition...we all know yours is the best, ha ha) and i was wondering if you could maybe help me with the graphics, design stuff a bit. if you could, leave me a note and i can give you the url, etc. thanks
from emeraldscars :
cool white stripes review. you should add an archive page, so people could read specific reviews. -liV
from bratty-kat :
cool stripes review, keep up the good reviews.
from aquietquarry :
You left a note on my friend's page (whatapity)and you're profile seems cool. You have many many a great band from my home town listed, (Sleater-Kinney, Bikini Kill, The Peaches) but yet, no C Average, Unwound, or The Whip. You should also check out the Decemberists as well as The Long Winters, Pinback, and Faraquet, and you lack any Elephant Six or Kindercore bands listed. Anyway, I'm a DJ (www.kaosradio.org) and I'd love to talk music with you, so leave me a note or something.
from iluvtunes :
I actually willingly sold my White Stripes tickets last month, even though I've never seen them before and I fucking LOVE them, just so that I could go to Tomahawk twice in one week. Reason? Because Mike Patton is God, of course! LOVE your profile! Lots of bands that I've not heard of that I need to check out. If you ever have the time you should do me a favor and look at the bands that I list in my profile to see my tastes and then make some recomendations for me. That would ROCK! In any case...your diary RULES!!I'm adding you to my favorites!
from popscene :
hey, nice work, thanks for the note, etc. lucky you for being able to see the stripes twice. i saw them once and they kicked my ass (http://www.intoanother.net/x/000176.php) whirlwind heat opened then too and they paled PALED in comparison to the white stripes! are blur coming to you? do you like blur? blur and the white stripes are both playing here in toronto within the month for like $40 each and i can't afford the goddamn tickets. damn.
from benekarma :
hey thanks a lot for your message thats sweet that you saw white stripes twice i see that we have a lot of favorite bands in common...have you ever seen remy zero live?
from your-flower :
please stop leaving me notes.
from xpsychox13x :
thanx 4 tellin me about your reviews!!!!
from poeticfire :
Yea thanx for telling me about your reviews. I am going to look forward to reading more in the future.
from incuguru :
Nice reviews! Thanks for letting me know about them, for I adore the white stripes. Sadly, they never play around here, so I am subjected to only listen to their albums (I own all of them) for the pleasure of their music. Thanks again!
from incuguru :

from sweetvanity :
Hey, thanks for letting me know about the White Stripes review. I only have a few minutes online, so I bookmarked your diary and when I can get back on, I'll read it all. I saw you used the word 'sexy' in it, haha. Jack's gorgeous.
from fakingcool :
I've never told you before but I love this thing and I am forever grateful to have someone keep me up to date with indie and all that jazz and I guess I will join all the cool kids at diaryland and add you to my profile
from violettstorm :
I'd say the generic thank you for you're message although I was never one for conformity so how about a game, lets test the talent, eh? I sit here locked inside my head, remembering everything you said <3
from rocketsean :
a big fat thanks
from subjekt :
your reviews are rad, thanks for informing me of your site. i'm jealous that you get to see all my favorite bands play, but atleast i can read about the shows... in detail. thanks...
from fairly-dizzy :
Amazing review of The White Stripes, enough detail to really live through the show. Since you must have read my profile and seen the music I like, do you have any suggestions? I'm always looking. Thanks!
from destroyable :
OOOOH GOSSIP! Yes you have to inform me!! I'll be sure to check it out! Sleater-Kinney are the greatest, you have such good taste, *hugs* well, note me xx
from atgasfain :
Review request. Try Bishop Allen's album "Charm School." They have a couple tracks for free download on their site, which is just a simple Google search away. And nice site, of course.
from gothangel :
yeah mogwai was the opening act for the cure a few years back. they're good. and BBR (black box recorder) is good, England made me is excellent. GoldFrapp is a good piece of music as well. cheers.
from en-trance :
oooooooooohhhh!!!!! coolness!!!!! mogwai rule!!!!! :):):) thanks for the note! cheers!
from asleep2 :
Thankyou for the note. The Mogwai review was cool. I really enjoyed Happy Songs for Happy People.
from thisisjohn :
not that its a BAD thing, not band thing. heh.
from thisisjohn :
you actually listen to some cool music. however, dashboard confessionl... sucks. haha. whiny emo bands never won me over. some songs are catchy enough to moderately fill your ears and entertain your brain. but really, chris caraba lacks so much musically. maybe his songs intentionally sound the same. which would reinforce my point. anyways, the new radiohead. very good. I give it an 8. I love radiohead, but this album was not a 10. Albeit, I would have to say that this is their most experimental of their albums. However, most of the experimentation is with lofi analog equipment and dreambeats from a keyboard. I cant help but agree with their harshest critics when they assert that radiohead is nothing more than a thirdeye blind, gin blossoms, alt. rock band with glossed over lyrics and music. in essence, you know that it is true. listen to their earlier stuff. the bends for example (in my opinion their worst record to boot), and their acoustic covers of their own songs only manifest the root layers of their work. and in close analyzation you see their point loud and clear. not that this is a band thing. no, not at all. because you will still find me singing loudly to all of their songs and loving them just the same. just presenting the points as they lay. neat diary though, a good project. john.
from suhaila :
hey thanks for the note. just read the review and it's awesome! i'm going to get my hands on that new mogwai album pretty quick. cheers. :)
from scorpioali :
hahaha....i could only get lawn seats as well. see you there! i'll be the black girl with dark-framed glasses. they better play i might be wrong, or i'm going to start a riot.
from stardaze68 :

from scorpioali :

from mintychiclet :
Hey Indie -- it's sometimes hard to find Beck fans in the Boston area. He's so creative! Rock on -- Liz
from annarborsux :

from emer :

from brettin :

from scorpioali :
thanks for the note. i'm excited as hell for the radiohead show coming up at alpine valley...i'll definitely be on the phone and at my computer trying to get tickets this saturday. i can't believe you saw interpol! i had no idea that they were playing at the belmont fair...i wish i could've seen them. anywho, i'm glad that i have seen your diary, you seem to really get to all of those shows (i missed pgmg, but i did see zwan that same week, so that made up for it). thanks...
from indierockkid :
thanks, kid. you made me wanna put on my shoes and hop down to the nearest record store for the hip and snag that cd right into my inner pocket. i agree that the cd is great and thank you for the review. i like your profile. you are the indie snob i strive to be, my friend. only i am from s.w philly and living in Wilmington, NC where the indie "scene" can be counted on one hand.it blows. well, see ya later. i like the other reviews as well
from adam-hill :
Thanks for telling me about your diary. I added it to my favorites.
from lindom :
Hi indie-snob. I saw the note you left and I read your review. I have a few tracks from the HTTT album that were the stolen ones from online. I wasn't able to get them all. I WILL get the album though because I LOVE Radiohead. I always buy albums even if I have them burned because of the artwork. Radiohead has awesome artwork! My fav. songs off the album are "There There," "2+2=5," and "Go to Sleep." LONG LIVE THOSE STRANGE AND WONDERFUL GUYS!
from painted-fish :
nice..I saw 'em once in chicago..goin' to see them again this year. Can't wait...me enjoy them tons.
from oclementine :
Hey there, saw that you left a note in my thingy. I looked in the closet at what my parents are getting me for my birthday and I'm getting Hail to The Theif! Everyone's telling me how great it is, I can't wait to get it.
from krazekrise :
you're only 16?! and live in the chicago area?! me too! except my brother is in a band (The Candyland Riots) www.thecandylandriots.com and he can get me into the empty bottle and stuff because he plays there. dude, we need to talk sometime! heart, chrissy
from we-ignite :
Hello, thanks for leaving me a note. Let me first say that I'm glad you left me a note because that review was awesome. Radiohead is definately my most loved band. 'The Bends' however is my favorite CD, but Kid, A is good as well. Hmmm, well, I've ran out of things to say. So yeah. You have good taste in music. Farewell. ♥
from krazekrise :
hey man! i'm from the chicago area too. you should have some upcoming concerts page or something so i can see some of this kickin' bands (which i love by the way) keep up the awesome work! rock on!
from perceptionss :
I love your musical taste =)
from crotchbandit :
Oh gosh. Yes! I love your site here. .. and Radiohead.. oh gosh, yesss! You were oh so right in thinking I'd be interested. Thanks for telling me. Love.
from jaggedvision :
thanks for the info. since everyones talking about Hail to the Thief right now, i think im gonna get that first and then work my way back.
from spit-tears :
Hello. I got a note from you, and checked out your diary, then read through your long list of bands. You must check out ANDREW BIRD. he is amazing, and i bet you would enjoy him seeing the diffrent types of music you enjoy. his latest album is WEATHER SYSTEMS. check it out.
from tinkbell5 :
well aren't you just Mr. Popular? haha I was reading all of your other ten million notes about how people were so happy about your reviews. I thought your one on DC/Beck SUCKED!!! Just kidding... I agree on everything... I loved Beck...I thought he was one of the best performers live I've ever seen. Where do you live? I'm in Atl. We have these radio stations here that do free concerts in the summer every Fri. night, that feature bands such as: Saliva (not one of my favorites), The White Stripes, Blues Traveler, The Hiss,...etc. So I guess I've been spoiled with concerts lately. I was just wondering if you have anything like this in your city? Holla back yo
from bells-on :
Sea Changes, oh my...If you're into the whole indie bit, you should try out some Primrods albums. Have you heard The Minks? Do you like Sloan (1994-esque)? What about Dimitri de Paris, Cub and Liz Phair? Check them out. Thanks for the note.
from utopiangreen :
hey, thanks for leaving me a note...That beck review was great. I have yet to actually see him, since he never comes up to Maine. THen again, hardly anyone does....
from only4her :
Hey, thanks
from nosferatu- :
hey I saw Dashboard at the Webster earlier this month, Count the Stars and Miracle of 86' opened. It was great, totally worth all the standing in line and all the little girls yelling that they want to have chris's babies...woop Go DASHBOARD!!
from emovaries41 :
youre right, those girls are disgusting. it's a damn shame seeing that at a DC show or any where else for that matter. thanks for the review, i appreciate it. since i cant go to the berkeley show, its good to hear what it would have been like. keep up the good reviews.
from idoit :
man, those girls in line at the beck show you wrote about are all-too familiar these days. thanks for the note
from kathrynxoxo :
hey, thanks for the note- it made me feel special being the new kid and all ;) anyways- your reviews rock (no pun intended); it's refreshing to see someone w/ such diverse musical tastes (I wish mine were more varied). Saw Coldplay at Madison Square Garden last night- such a great band. - K.
from aurorasphere :
hey, i just went and read a few of your reviews, good job. i'm actually going to the beck/dashboard show in berkeley in a week or so, and it was nice to get a little preview of what i'm in for. thanks for leaving me a note, i'm sure i'll be back to read more reviews later.
from lone-rogue :
hey-wow its amazing, i didnt know there was somewhere out there who has as similar musical tastes to me as you do! idlewild is really cool, i just saw them open up for...i think it was pearl jam, and i thought they were pretty cool! i absolutely loved reading your reviews, especially the beck one because i will be going to his concert next week, so now i know what to expect! thanks
from lunatikz :
Hya!! ThanX 4 that Coldplay note... I liked the review.. and some others too :) Ill be back 4 more!! jjejeje ;) SaLute!
from icomeundone :
Wow, thanks for the random note, I loved the reviews. Check out my diary anytime you want and sign the guestbook. You rock my socks off!!
from britneypink :
SWEET...great reviews by the way.
from djc360 :
out of curiosity, what is your favourite radiohead album? mine's is Kid A, which also just happens to be my favourite album of all time.
from frostie13 :
hey the coolest.. thanks for the note and i really agree, you have the most excellent taste in music hope to read more reviews. you rock!!!! <3 renee'
from shininghigh :
oh hello there. i'm glad you like the music i like, i really like your diary too.
from emilylime :
btw, you should get yo la tengo - i can hear the heart beating as one
from emilylime :
hey, thanks for the note. i browsed through your diaries and thought that they were interesting. i saw beck on tuesday night, actually; it seems like he played really similar sets at the shows we went to. he also began with "loser" and ended with "devils haircut" over here. btw, i really really want a copy of that stephen malkmus album. i'm gonna have to steal it from someone :) so, where's a review of hail to the thief? it's conspicuously absent, heheh.
from freshdaily :
thanks for the note :) the only thing i want to say is i <3 dashboard, but I am nothing like those retarded girls in line. Just as an fyi cous dude that's insane. great review though
from onyourshirt :
hey!! thanks so much for the note!! :) it made me happy!! rad review on the dashbaord/beck show. you mentioned taking back sunday too, that made me double happy!! woo hoo!! and you like ben kweller. actually, you love ben kweller. i love you!! ahaha you rock!! thanks again!! love meaghann.
from laukat :
Hey there! I enjoyed your reviews! But I didn't get a thpecial spot in your buddy list! =( I'm gonna cry! Oh well. =) Thanks for writing!
from mmoranges :
hey i saw you left a note at my site--thanks for letting me know, this is a cool page. I've never seen d/c in concert, i actually just started getting into them. Thats kinda interesting about what you said about all the d/c fans at the concert though...wouldnt have expected it. Anyways thanks
from dust-settle :
seen dashboard 3 times, everytime the crowd sang along. the last one i saw was at the bowery ballroom in the city and it was great. small, intimate and everybody was really into it. you're right, it makes the show.
from burnintears :
Hey! thanks for letting me know about your reviews. very interesting, so far i've only read the Dashboard and Beck review, but I'll read up on the others. I really want to see Dashboard in concert. It would be sweet. Thanks again:)
from mr-squiggle :
the clean and ylt, eh? sounds like my dream gig. but yeah - i've heard the clean have a patchy record when it comes to live shows. sounds like you caught them on a bad hair day - i never imagined they could sound brit-poppy! i've got a recent ep of theirs with live recordings, and it doesn't nearly live up to their early/mid-80s studio work. still, i've never seen them on stage, and i'd still jump at the opportunity... wanna go tape swapsies? i can do you an intro to the clean / NZ music in general, if yr interested :) nice site! ~jon
from blankbooks :
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I'm kicking myself for missing the free TH show at the Metro. It only would have been a 10 hour drive each way. Why not? I did 10 hours round trip to see them in Athens. Anyway I've gotten my priorities straight. I've quit my job, moved back to Iowa City and just got back from the show at Gabe's. Rockin' would be the word. Plus one of the opening bands both physically and sexually assaulted me. A first for each for me. Added bonus-Chris worked me into a song. Yup. He was freestyling through "How Do You Sleep?" and started repeating "and the Rev. Don Deeley said I'm absolved." Rock. See you at the next Metro show-CD release party for Yes Have Some, Yes Have Some. P-
from bluerainsoda :
I'm agreeing with "dent" on the yo la tengo albums you're going to have to check out. Although I have to admit, I've been uncharacteristically not into music lately. I've been exploring other textures such as food, and paint.
from coraltree :
sorry, i didnt mean to be an ass. i am pretty much jaded by houston. the kids here are just.. well, it gets tiresome. glad you are having fun, and good luck with your reviews
from ellegee :
Thanks for the note - loved the Coldplay review. They acutally played in Toronto just last night, and my coworker who attended said much the same. I can forgive you your remarks re: Ron Sexsmith as his last album sucked so hard it literally almost blew my mind. He's not for everyone, Canadian singer-songwriters rarely are. What can I say? We love an underdog. As soon as his star really begins to shine, we'll all start loathing him as is proper for those who court the bitch whore of fame. Celine, Shania, Knucklehead (Nickelback), Averil. I personally apologize on behald of all Canadians for inflicting them on the world. (Las Vegas did kinda have it coming though.)
from blondeh :
Hi there. Thanks very much for telling me about your diary. I love reading reviews. I missed the coldplay concert a few weeks ago when they were in my city, so it was nice to get your take on it. Thanks again.
from lorienelf :
that'd be cool. tell me about it. i love coldplay. only think i love in this world
from sarahcherry :
ohhh...I'm being really jealous right now of your show attendance. Geographically, I'm not in an ideal location for shows so am forced to pretend. Love your reviews, jealous of your life...
from spiritcycle :
Hi. I read some of your reviews. In case you're interested, my main diary is easyaspie.
from coraltree :
some snob you are. ylt's nuclear war is a remake of a sun ra song. i dont understand you indie fuzz, music is something to be enjoyed, not something to use as a social bracket of some sort. no hard feelings, but you should do your homework first, you know? glad you liked yola :) go pick up electropura, its a good one.
from tangerilu :
Wow. All of these people took the words right out of my mouth. Thanks a lot, your reviews are pretty kick-ass. Keep on writing and I'll keep on reading.
from voveo123 :
Hello, thank you for telling me about your review. It was really great. Coldplay is so amazing and Eisley is too. It did kind of irk me that you said Stacy (the keyboard player) looked like Avril. She's way prettier than Avril and she's also very sweet and alot cooler than Avril. I don't think she dresses/acts/looks/or resembles in any other way, Avril. I personally don't like Avril. I think she's trying too hard to be "punk" and not succeeding. That's just my opinion though. Everyone is entitled to one. I'm not putting you down at all! I hope you don't think so. That was a really great review and I'm thankful that you told me about it. Have a good day. God bless you. -Sarah-
from blueyycow :

from jaggedvision :
thanks for the note! i loved your coldplay review. i share some of your views. i have a question, and i hope it makes some sense, lol. ive always liked radiohead, but amazingly ive never bought any of their albums. for the first radiohead album that i buy (which will be this weekend when i get paid) which one do you think i should get first?
from winterglows :
How can you be so impossibly cool at sixteen!?!
from winterglows :
Hello. Thanks for letting me know about your reviews. I like them! I like your taste. You should check out The Prids, a Portland OR band, if you haven't already. www.theprids.com
from lacey19hj :
Hi indie-snob. I was totally surprised to see a note from someone, considering i just deleted the entries i had. Anyways, I like your taste in music. My friend runs a website for this 'zine she makes. It's all reviews on shows and it's really great. You should go check it out, www.perpetualphlegm.com. Maybe you chould write some reviews for her, if you wanted to. Well, have fun listening to your music. ~Lacey
from lostthoughts :
I really enjoyed your review of the coldplay show.... I recently attended one of their shows here in denver, well acually red rocks, an outdoor veniew. It was probably one of the coolest concerts I've been to yet, it rained on us the whole time, which I think, the concert was worth getting a cold for a couple of weeks. I totally agree with you on the band though, excellent live band. It made me like them a lot more than I did before, which kinda seems impossible. Anyways, excellent review, I'm glad you told me about it. I'll keep on reading.
from fallingdark :
i think im in love with you. at the very least, your music. maybe both. :)
from dent :
as for yo la tengo, i would advise listening to "i can hear the heart beating as one", and "and then nothing turned itself inside-out". these albums just blew me away.
from thehumanlot :
thanks for taking notice to something.
from yamakingj :
I'm glad to hear that someone understands that. You have gained my respect.
from teats :
wow, i haven't updated my diary in quite a long time. i was pleased to see people are still (kind of) reading my wimpy diary! thank you for the note. i have to say you have a great site; i love reviews (and writing them on occasion). i'll surely be back soon! debz
from jonsee :
liked your review. Can't say i agree with what you said about the femmes. can't disagree either. I have yet to have the opportunity to see them live. :(
from sippytrip :
i dug the review, and can agree somewhat on what u said about the Femms (from shows i've seen)...thing is it's much better if there's room to dance
from isawabeaver :
um...yeah so your reviews are neat while browsing your extensive list of artists in your profile, i noticed you did not list the rentals or the modern lovers; perhaps you would like to check into them if you are into that.... yeah
from onyourside :
I'm always eager to read a fan's review of Interpol. Thanks for leading me your way.
from december7th :
rad. you have an excellent 'fave bands' list. rock. nice reviews too. exoh.
from mariogirl :
goddamn, i want to live in chicago. thanks for dropping me a note, and i really like your reviews and such. keep in touch - mariogirl@fuckmicrosoft.com
from kcelley :
hello! i just checked my mail that said i got these notes, i was like woah! yeah, awesome review! they never come down here for shows, awesome for you to be there!
from sparklefae :
Hey thanks for joining the Norah Jones ring =0) It was a little hard to find your link to your diaryrings but there it is hehe, that's a cute way to do things too <3 Thanks again =0)
from broken-may :
Ok I was going to bite your head off for spamming my notes, but I have to say your reviews rock! If you ever need another reviewer email me at rival_schools_unite@hotmail.com and I can send you some samples I've done. toodles xx
from yamakingj :
As a die-hard Joy Division fan I found Interpol to be immensely enjoyable. I don't see either band as being so much "Gothic" as quintessential "Post-Punk" There is, in fact, a difference. Ciao.
from suede-head :
excellent, excellent taste in music! keep up with the reviews...interesting to read!
from diedpretty :
hey, very nice Interpol review there. I think I'm rather unhealthily obsessed with that band - yesterday I bought the latest issue of Magnet magazine with them on the cover, for $16.95. I'm hoping to go see them when they tour Australia in August. Anyway cheers for the heads-up... and by the way, they're actually signed to Matador, not Touch & Go :)
from o-pisces-pal :
Can we trade lives? I can't believe you saw Interpol. And the Faint! In like, the same week? Consider me swooned...
from versaillers :
I definitely agree with you on the Interpol- the more you listen, the less you know. Surprisingly, I have yet to get tired of "Turn On the Bright Lights," which is unusual for me (I burnt myself out long ago on the Walkmen from excessive listening...:( ). Not that I wouldn't like to hear some new material from Interpol... Thanks ever so much for letting me know you updated. I like reading your reviews, ya know. Great leads. 10-4 Versailles
from elscorchi :
you rock!
from fragilehouse :
yea Interpol is pretty incredible. It's one of those albums is stuck in your head when you wake up. Very good stuff. Nice listing of bands. I try to stick with what I've listened to most recently on my profiles, but all is prone to change off and on. Let me know if you find anyone else to my liking. i'm always up for something new. ~a.
from morrisey :
you're too kind. all the same to you. i will read your reviews right now. but surely they will all be outstanding considering the bands!? anywho, thanks. and would you like to join my petition to change the english national anthem to close to me by the cure?
from noonesfriend :
Great reviews. I added you to my favorites list. horrah!
from okdonnasgo7 :
hey, thanks for leaving me a note about your review site. you left a very good review about ok go. they are awesome in concert. i love them. they have such a good stage presence. and the train song was rather odd in my opinion also, but i liked its odd-ness. you seem to know a lot about music... i'll be re-visiting your review site in the future. peace con amore. x:x laura ann x:x
from mandolin7512 :
Hey thanks for telling me about the reviews.
from xmissxyoux :

from sanderso :
great reviews, indie-snob!!!! ok go are awesome, u r lucky to see them!
from blank--girl :
good reviews....thanks...
from qthedinosaur :
now that I've actually read the BK review, I am soo sad you had to see an east coast show. Cenro-matic SUCKS. But Brendan Benson who opened for the West Coast is so amazing. Definately worth checking out. I saw his show at the Roxy, and he performed beautifully, I think it was nice too, because it wasn't 1200 people. But yeah, BK rocks, Lizzy's my fav song too, and Debbie is soo good, but Brendan Benson and the Well-fed Boys are pretty tight too, check it out.
from qthedinosaur :
You have some fucking good bands on your page dude. I'm liking it, but honestly, that's too bad about Ben's love child, because I have a uterus, so I guess I get the love child!!! Keep up the reviews buddy, I'm digging it.
from xicrybloodx :
Thanks a lot! I enjoy them very much so! Well late.
from dfunk14 :
Hi! Yes, I did have the Bizarbies once listed as a favorite. I am assuming the normal looking guy that night was prolly my good friend. All of them are friends from Michigan.( 2 of them work at the metro) And yes, the name fits them very well!! I'm glad to see that someone from Chicago has found me from that! From reading some of your stuff, it looks like we are often at the same places! Keep in touch.
from emegonn :

from killavril :

from killavril :

from killavril :
I did not see ozma or fountains of wayne or husker du or black flag or the misfits or pink floyd or mc5 or the streets on your list...i'm afraid that I'm going to have to kill you. death to the pixies.
from killavril :

from exhusky :
I'm trying to find Pornographer's album but I could not find it. I just wanted to thankyou for the suggestion. My younger sister lives in Great lakes and she says the music is awesome up there. I'll keep looking though.
from o-pisces-pal :
Your profile is a goldmine. You are the enigma behind the music...
from bloodyme :

from jorobites :
Hey! what a great Idea for a diary! YOU ROCK! and so does the faint. W00t!
from jessika777 :
hey! man, I LOVE the Faint. Their music is just so creative and catchy yet it still has meaning to it. They put on one of the greatest shows I've ever seen. Their energy and stage presence was utterly amazing. It was even funner being as it was a home show for them, they got to see all their friends and what not. I like your review too! I thought the visuals were great, they went along with the songs perfectly. Our crowd was great too, no one was really pushy. Everyone was just dancing around having a good time. One review of our show said that "the sokol(the venue) turned into a dance club for one night" It was a fun show. -- You seem to like all the music I like which rules :-) I'll have to check back for more reviews! See ya!
from le-low :
I see you're from Chicago. I was at that show too. It was honestly one of the best shows I've ever been to. Rock on. ♥
from todyefor :
thanks for the note about the faint. very nice of you. -caroline
from minusmarie :
thanks for the review...I did a video interview with them as well, it's funny cause andrea is such a rock star but during the day she's a hairstylist? they were great in portland..you would have loved the show. I'm debating on getting tickets to see BECK? his new album is so sad (with the whole breaking up with his lady and all what else can you sing about?) if you end up seeing his show, tell me if it's worth it? would love to keep seeing those reviews...check out buddyhead.com i think you'd love their reviews..they love to piss on peoples parades....wadda think of the new YYY's album since they hit the paydirt?
from macabre245 :
Thanks for joining my PGMG diaryring (I can't believe there aren't more members yet) and the awesome ALK/PGMG review. I can't wait to see them on Sunday!

from madebythe3rd :

from unwittingly :

from xlachrymosex :
Hey....thanks for the reviews...they were good. I love bright eyes and hot hot heat.
from uncouthgirl :
Hey there, I read your Bright eyes review (thanks gor giving me the heads up about that). Aren't the screaming girls at bright eyes shows annoying? jesus.dont get me started. They were screaming "marry me conor" during "First day of my Life", which was the last song and preformed solo. annoying. Anyways, good review. Bright eyes ceases to amaze me.
from rjp31484 :
wow... I just looked at the bands on your profile and they are all GREAT... im so glad there are people out there that are hip to all the same stuff
from ashesraven :
wait does that mean i'm not going to be in your saddle creek diaryring?
from pullonmyhair :
Hey, I like reading your stuff. I'm so jealous of all the guys i know who are getting to see bright eyes. Nice little review. Oh and was Love song to maria "first day of my life"? i believe he's been introducing that song like that.
from arieskms :
Thanks for leaving me the note about Bright Eyes. I was supposed to see the New Orleans show last month...didn't. I'm holding my breath now for the next tour. Appreciate it.
from forevatoday :
my goodness, aren't you the popular fellow. thank you for sending me the note. i enjoyed your review. i'd read more but it's rather late and i'm sleepy. i am excited to see the show tomorrow. i just wish i had someone to go with, know anyone in the t.c. that you could give me a line to? *zzz*
from vvasquez22 :
Woo!!! cranberries are good in the summer... *happy dance*
from bougelarouge :
Conor is dating Winona Ryder. Gross.
from squinch :
Hey, thanks for pointing out your Bright Eyes review. I saw the same show here in San Francisco...it was amazing, no? I think this was this sixth time I've seen him, each time has been different, but yeah I was definitely psyched to see Mike Mogis touring with him. So thanks again, from one Saddle Creek devotee to another.
from creepylouise :
Thanks for the note. Holy Cow! you have a such an extensive collection. I have alot of the same records. Great Flaming Lips review. I only hope to get a chance to see them one day. Love Ted Leo too! Sad to hear he has worn out the vocals. I'll have to check back in with you. P.S. check out the New Pornographers. Bet you would like it!
from sad-machine :
loved the flaming lips review. i have to agree that they are THE best live act. i saw them back in november w/ beck and i thought i was going to die from overstimulation. i'm going to see them again at the end of may. never have i anticipated a concert more. :) too bad sparklehorse won't be there with them. i think they're only opening on the east coast. anyway...thanks for that.
