v mars, v mars, v mars!
from katiedoyle :
thanks for the hug. :) much better. *hug back*
from gosipgirl :
I totaly get your passion 4 things.I really get u!
from katiedoyle :
Dear Annoyed, I totally get your lack of money. I have none either. Thanks for the compliment, though. :) Signed, Stressed in LA
from katiedoyle :
ep6 of this season, right? in like, 6 episodes? that's cool. :)
from hsiutime :
Oh, I haven't seen the BBC version, although it comes highly recommended. I like most film versions of Austen, actually - it's *reading* her that makes me groan. I think the problem with "Jonathan Strange" was I tried to read it all at once, because it wasn't *not* good. My friend's friend saw me reading it at school and got really excited. Apparently, it'd "changed her life," so I also went into it with unrealistic expectations of spiritual epiphany/psychiatric counseling.
from katiedoyle :
damn you, k1ttykat! you have totally hooked me on veronica mars, and i am waiting on pins and needles to find out who was at the door at the end of last season. which, granted, for me was all of 6 days ago. but that's not the point! the point is, i have had to wait 6 whole days, and will have to wait for 7, total, and all because you had to share your illicit love for veronica mars and spread it around like a disease. damn you, k1ttykat! damn you! (xo, kd)
from hsiutime :
Thank you! And you are right - playing Balderdash with you will be a major factor in my ultimate decision, and one I won't fail to mention to any future interviewers. By the way, want to come to Japan any time in the next year? I'll show you a good time *wink wink*
from sweet-indigo :
Congrats to your brother :) I don't know what's going on, everyone I know with results seems to have done worse than expected, and yet they say A-levels are getting easier! Crazy.
from hsiutime :
Congratulations to your brother!
from hsiutime :
I wrote you an email? You probably replied and then I didn't reply because I am a terrible friend as well as a terrible correspondant. What was the email about?
from sweet-indigo :
Actually he's a student, so he might not be back until September. Hope you're not too disappointed :)
from sweet-indigo :
Well, it was a joke, I love asking Americans if they know Mary, too. He's called James Murphy and he's very tall.
from sweet-indigo :
Church of 5000? Do you go to Hillsong? If so, do you know my friend James? :)
from katiedoyle :
you know, i like a jessica simpson song, too. once in a while, our taste leaps out the window and we do crazy things. it's not like we invaded a country while lying to our citizens about it, so i think we're entitled. i'm sorry your pm is cooperating with my pres and you guys turned into targets. but i'm glad i made you spit pepsi. :) kd
from hsiutime :
Ooh, I like kittens. Good title, by the way. Very T.S. Eliot.
from hsiutime :
I agree with you on Bush. It's already a pretty empty gesture to renew vows of hatred towards terrorists. But co-opting an entire country to fuel his own stupid war (now why would extremists bomb a nation friendly to the United States? LET'S THINK) - that's just...insensitive? Tactless? Stupid? Gaaah.
from katiedoyle :
actually, make that thank god. (i think he'll be okay with that particular usage...)
from katiedoyle :
thank goodness.
from hsiutime :
Ooh, so this job is permanent? Congratulations!! That is super cool. Have you gone out for celebratory drinks yet? :)
from katiedoyle :
read my other note. :) I have mixed views on the idiotic male "compliment" thing. I think some guys are truly so frigging stupid, they think it's a compliment and that you'll take it as such. The rest of them have tiny little penises and are out to reduce you to an object so they can feel all empowered and good about their shit; it's a control thing. Men are just frigging morons, for the most part, when it comes to much of anything. I say for the most part, because some of them are actually evolved human beings with brains and stuff; I realize every guy is not a moronic, mysoginistic prick. But dude. A lot of them give a very good impression they are. :( (bygones, males. i do not hate you or think you're stupid, but a lot of you sure are tolerant of those who are, and you have to understand, that shit rubs off on you, just like stupid, shallow, push-up bra worshipping women rub off on me - it's the circle of life, unfortunately.) kd
from katiedoyle :
damn it. i'm gonna need all the 411 on every episode of veronica mars i've missed. i think i am now hooked. stupid whatsisname with the pictures; damn it. kd
from hsiutime :
Well, it got good reviews from the critics, and LQ liked it lots. I am just really contrary, I guess. Is it coming out in the UK anytime soon?
from hsiutime :
I am confused! Is something wrong? And don't worry, the notes page looks good stretched!
from katiedoyle :
I can totally see how it would fill the Mutant Enemy hole...and I can deal with everything else about it except for little V's delivery, which is so not SMG's but is so obviously trying hard to be. :( I will try it another time or two before giving up, though. And I never got into Firefly, but I may see Serenity anyway; it looks pretty cool. kd
from hsiutime :
And yes, the dating service was OKCupid. They are so sneaky!
from hsiutime :
Ugh, I agree. Men are dumb-dumbs. But at least the pretty ones are also mature enough not to honk? I have owned green nail polish, too! Nobody knows why...anyways, if anybody asks, we can say we have a twin, leading a parallel life, living across the pond :D
from katiedoyle :
I saw it. :) Don't hate me, but I'm not sure I can keep watching it. That girl who plays Veronica looks and sounds too much like SMG, and it's like she watched a million episodes of Buffy and is trying to copy SMG's delivery but falling just short. Because she's not SMG. (not that I love SMG) If I had seen VMars first, I think I'd really like it, but having been thru 7 seasons of Buffy, 5 of Angel, and loving both of them so much, VMars is too much like a pale shadow of BTVS. :( I'll try one more episode and see, though. kd
from hsiutime :
But if it's a reflex thing, then why don't men get hollered at by other men? Are we to believe that men are biologically hardwired to harass women when behind the wheel? Did this sort of thing take place back in the day of stagecoaches and horse-drawn carriages? Why, Kati, why?? But I'm glad you had a good time at the shelter, and good luck on your next stint :)
from katiedoyle :
::sigh:: don't hate me. i totally forgot. (i do that with any new show.) so what did i miss in the pilot that i will need to know next week? (and please feel free to remind me as often as you wish) darn it. kd
from hsiutime :
I don't think I get UPN...but thanks for the tip. I have been reading Caitie's Veronica Mars posts, but Caitie and I do not always agree on television choices, so it's interesting to see even more support :)
from katiedoyle :
answered in my comments, but thanks very much for the VMars schedule. i've been reading a lot about it on the web, but had no idea when/where it was on. i'll try it out. :) kd
from katiedoyle :
lol; fangirlish, huh? rock on. :)
from hsiutime :
But you must have them, too. "The City Gardener" is a British show originally, I think, and we just import it. I don't know - watch it and give me a second opinion, please...maybe I'm just really, really desperate at this point >.<
from hsiutime :
Is your guestbook not working either? I feel amputated. Metaphorically, that is.
from katiedoyle :
i am glad you are fine and i needn't worry, but now i am vastly irritated that while i *live* in la, it is your friend in england who gets to do all the hobnobbing, especially with the likes of orlando bloom and johnny depp, both of whom are, yes, very pretty. ::sigh:: kd
from hsiutime :
There is a dinosaur skeleton at the Natural History Museum in London. I think it is of a (not)Brontosaurus. There was a school field trip the day I went and lots of small boys playing around the skeleton - maybe you could engage them in conversation and see how many outraged chaperones come over to accuse you of kidnapping :D
from hsiutime :
Aaah, I'm jealous of your friend too! Even though I don't much like Orlando Bloom. I hope you can wrangle a job out of him :D
from hsiutime :
Ooh, do write your own entry - maybe we can start a revolution :D And I hope your stair injuries have healed. Damn shoes and damn pant cuffs!
from katiedoyle :
i replied to you in my comments; sorry, i just got around to looking to see what people said. i am behind in mail and stuff. i love your new layout. :) also, PLEASE be careful; i'm so glad you weren't seriously hurt on those stairs. holy smokes. :( kd
from hsiutime :
Tee hee, depending on my parents' mood in two months, maybe I will take you up on the offer. We can be 20% jealous together and drink vodka alone in a corner while dressed up as Miss Havisham! It'll be fun and not incredibly pathetic at all! Oh, I keep forgetting to ask: did the photos come through? I sent it regular mail but hopefully it sent okay.
from hsiutime :
Congratulations to her!!! That's so exciting (and kind of scary!) When is the wedding? (I'm not stalker-ish either :D )
from hsiutime :
Ooh, axe murderers- my secret weakness! I don't want to impose on you and your housemates, especially since I'm only thinking of going. But it is a very good bargaining chip to use on my parents :D If the trip does look feasible, I'll definitely let you know!
from hsiutime :
That was a very exciting breakdown of the elections! I am sorry that your party will not win, but at least you (probably) won't have THE Conservative party in place. Have a happy morning-after-elections day :)
from hsiutime :
I love your new layout! It is so cheerful :D The Name Game sounds really fun; I'll have to try it sometime. Oh, and I know I said I'd email those photos, but actually I've got doubles, so if you give me your address I can mail them to you. Then you can pin them on the wall and whatnot :) Have a gooood weekend!
from katiedoyle :
every day. ::sigh::
from katiedoyle :
man, you and i are in much the same boat, and reacting in very similar ways. i had no idea how alike we are until i read your jan. 21 entry. i wish you luck. i've absolutely no idea what my non-acting vocation is, either. doesn't that suck? best, kd
from hsiutime :
Helloooo! You have not updated in a long while! Although it sounds like you have been having fun running off to France and whatnot. Did you have a good time? Pirates! is so very easy to insert in conversation, isn't it? I am not sure Mr. Defoe will be able to replicate that kind of genius in subsequent volumes. Hahaha. Oh, and of course, I will send you the photos! I jjust have to scan them into a computer. But thanks for reminding me :) Take care and say 'hi' to Helen for me!
from katiedoyle :
from an old comment you left me: "And now would be a perfect time to quote Giles' (as in Buffy) opinion on American Football but I won't because I've already come across as sad and geeky enough." LOL! No, you haven't! :) xo, kd
from hsiutime :
Rest assured, I was not trying to get out of our meeting in any way :D So I guess there were subway delays in spite of me...hmmm... and no, I didn't need anything to smoke (besides, you looked miserable enough with your inhaler!), but please tell Helen 'thank you' for thinking of me :)
from leapyear84 :
Thanks muchly for the note, I LOVED "Sideways", wonderful stuff. Thanks for the note, it has been a wee while but such is life at times. Been trying to keep up with your adventures with the cool set in London of course :-)
from hsiutime :
Ooh, no. 3 is "The Only Living Boy in New York" by Simon in Garfunkel and no. 5 is "Singing in My Sleep" by Semisonic. Am I right, am I right? Hehe. Thanks again for taking care of me last week! It was great meeting you. Say 'hi' to Helen and Asita (sp?) for me! :D
from sweet-indigo :
Happy Birthday! And sorry I'm late :)
from hsiutime :
Happy Birthday! I don't know if anything special happens at 23, but I hope you have a wonderful day of it :D Don't feel bad about getting lost on the way to work; it happens to the best of us. In fact, you probably haven't lived until you've gotten lost on the way to SOME familiar location. I hear you on the hobbies thing. Model trains definitely come to mind. And I don't know...I just look very young and wholesome, so I feel like people expect me to do something wholesome like knitting, when all I really want to do is take over the world :/
from katiedoyle :
ps. you need a hug counter!
from katiedoyle :
Ooohhh! Big hugs to you for the embarrassment and the spill. I hope your Christmas was happy and your New Year's will be wonderful (and safe). :) kd
from hsiutime :
Ooh, I'd love to see you! I wasn't sure if you were in London, so I didn't want to ask, but it would not be creepy at all. Thanks for the link, it looks really useful. I love to eat, so it's always sad when my budget doesn't allow. Anyhoo, it'd be awesome if we could meet up, if not (schedules etc) I'll harrass you another time. Hope your bruises get better! Kitten heels are so deceptively cute and comfortable...
from hsiutime :
You make good points for Harry/Ginny, and under different circumstances I'd root for that shipping, too. But I found Ginny vastly obnoxious in OotP - Rowling really beat the reader over the head with Grrl Power. Still, I guess Harry does need someone to snap him out of his angst ;)
from sweet-indigo :
Hah, OotP made me a Harry/Ginny shipper :) Before the fact that they rarely talked made any interaction difficult :) You're right though, she is too good for him. And the Michael Corner thing got to me too... I assumed that he was older, and that Cho likes younger men! It might be, since the whole of Gryffindor mix in the common room, that Ginny mixing with older students isn't really so strange as it might be in other schools...
from hsiutime :
Yeah, but having three kids by the age of 23(?) is, to me, depressing and unfortunate. I speak of the situation in general, not of your friend in particular, of course. Exploring life and learning from those crazy experiences is just as much part of Growing Up as getting married, buying a house, etc. Marriage and kids are how society measures whether you've Grown Up or not, but it's not how everyone Grows Up, and certainly not everyone achieves adulthood in that way in their early 20's.
from hsiutime :
That IS really rude! They could have at least let people on the board know "Hey, the link was broken; now it's fixed." Conscientious citizens rarely get thanked, unfortunately :/ I've sworn off the vodka for a while, but I do love it so *hic*
from hsiutime :
Thanks *hug* Good luck on NaNoWriMo!
from sweet-indigo :
Thanks :) *hugs*
from katiedoyle :
lol! ah, but if you *vote*, you are eligible for the voting drawing. :) kd
from katiedoyle :
yes, as it turns out; if you are registered to exercise your right to vote, be it in England or here, you qualify. So send that email to askkatiedoyle, so you're entered in the drawing. i will post more on the prizes later. :) kd
from cheeky-kitty :
I like ur diary and please visit mine
from hsiutime :
You know, I posted that and realized we WERE on opposing sides..but you still said really smart things (that made us lose :P), so... it's still true. I'm glad your shoe story ended happily; it's so hard to find attractive, comfortable shoes that losing that one pair is catastrophical.
from hsiutime :
Hehe, Aaron Peirsol is one of the swimmers on the U.S. Olympic Team. I don't like him :/ But here's what I really think of you (dun dun dun!): I think you're wonderfully nice and thoughtful. You've always got something encouraging to say on the Dove, and you make people feel really welcome. Plus, you're super-smart! I loved working with you on the Tortall-Emelan Smackdown - you're always coming up with things that are both original and insightful. Your vacation logs are also really fun to read. It's interesting (and sometimes startling!) to see what people on the other side of the pond think of American cities and people. But yeah; I'm really glad to have met you ^___^
from hsiutime :
Sounds like you had fun in NY :) Did you get any cheesy souvenirs? Hehe.
from hsiutime :
I am SO SORRY! I didn't know you'd sent the book; my mother didn't tell me while I was in Japan and didn't forward it to my address there, so I had no idea, and in fact found the package today by complete accident while rummaging through a pile of last year's papers, where Mom had stuck it. I am horribly embarrassed, and will send a traveler's cheque for the book as soon as possible (as it seems to be less complicated than money order.) Please accept my deepest apologies; I really had absolutely no idea. Thank you so much for the favor. -Hsiu
from katiedoyle :
LOL on your Freud comment. :) I like you a lot. :) kd
from katiedoyle :
also - and i promise i am not trying to hijack your notes section - i prefer people not be aware of that but i have a question to ask, so if you don't mind would you email me at katiedoyleATdiarylandDOTcom so i can ask your opinion on something? thanks. :) kd
from katiedoyle :
and i prefer the term "girl". :)
from katiedoyle :
and weight 20 pounds more. :(
from katiedoyle :
you crack me up. now i want to know what the quote was. :) do you watch angel? did you see this weeks joss episode? i thought it was really good, thus prompting me to whine "why doesn't joss write ALL the episodes?" kd ps. and yes, that's me, only i have longer hair now.
from katiedoyle :
you know, i was surprised you weren't on my buddylist, too. i could have sworn you were already. i even rechecked the list, i was so sure you were already there. kd
from katiedoyle :
thank you for the nod. :) I like your diary. i miss buffy some too; and am really irritated angel is up for cancellation. i hate the wb. i saw a buffy font at fonts.com, btw. it's called buffied. just fyi. :) kd
from hsiutime :
I like your new layout :D
from hsiutime :
Free time? Who needs free time? Oh, wait...I hope your Sims are doing okay :) Today in the newspaper I was reading about the Sims Online and how this guy owns the "Sims Mafia" to regulate the online version and it made me feel like a dinosaur. I love this latest entry about the Guy Housemate - it sounds like you're pulling a Sophie yourself, cleaning up after Men Who Don't Notice Disgusting State of Bathroom *sends cookies*
from hsiutime :
Thanks so much for dropping a note! It's always so friendly (in warm-and-fuzzy-feeling manner) to find someone from non-Diaryland settings who also uses Diaryland <- if that made any sense. Anyhoo, as soon as I use the 'Little Girl's Room', I'll add you to my buddy list 'cause you rock my socks :D
from lynseysam :
thankyou:)
from katiedoyle :
thank you, very much. i labored and cursed. i am not good at tables. kd
from katiedoyle :
Oops; that's it. It's not the baby mouse I like, it's the little french one! kd
from katiedoyle :
LOL; alouette-a, gentile alouette-a! kd
from katiedoyle :
i was rereading survey answers. you really do know your stuff. i laughed, though - i liked the baby tom and jerry mouse. :) kd
from lynseysam :
I added u to my buddies:)
from bloodhawk :
u r very in sperrational new person bloodhawk of the x men
from katiedoyle :
wow, and I'm *still* the only person to leave a note. it's like this big, brand new white refridgerator, and here I am, leaving big old honkin' postits all over it...glad I could be of service. :) Muttley had a wicked evil laugh. I loved it as a kid and still do. :) kd
from katiedoyle :
hello...new to d'land? i can't believe i'm your first note. maybe you delete them all after you've read them... hmm. at any rate, i didn't forget muttley, i was just braindead and called him muggsley. don't ask me why. he's also my favorite on the list. :) kd
