First off, depression is not caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. The chemical 'imbalance' in the brain is caused by the depression. And it's not even an imbalance. Different stimuli cause the body to release different bodily chemicals at different times. Well, depression causes these chemicals related to this chemical 'imbalance' to be released. So it's not even an imbalance. It's a measure of the depression. It's all a load of crap dreamed up by drug companies to sell anti-depressants. It cuts out the human factor, the feelings and emotions that cause the depression, which are the REAL and TRUE causes of depression, and turns it into a bio-mechanical problem that can be easily fixed by a wonder pill. It's rather sickening actually. So the first thing you have to do, is recognize depression for what it is: an emotional response to something in your life that is affecting you a great deal. Don't get caught up in the 'depression is caused by a chemical imbalance' charade. Then, whatever is causing your depression, find some way to face it and deal with it. If it's something like Scott being gone for so long, then find something to fill your time. If you haven't already. If you don't work, find a job. Take up hobbies. Workout. Go swimming. It works for me. I don't feel depressed, when I'm hitting the pool for two hours straight. I feel incredible. I feel energized. I feel alive. Second, you brought up some excellent questions. It is NOT wrong to feel things, to have emotions. Do you want to know why people try to act like it's wrong to feel something? For a couple of reasons. One, they're selfish, and they don't want to hear about your pain and your problems, because it gets in the way of their pain and their problems. Two, it's a way of controlling people. If you can trick them into suppressing their feelings, their emotions, you also trick them into suppressing their thoughts, desires, etc. Which gives them power over the masses. It's all a mind game, and a power trip. It's rather sickening really. That's why I get mad when people try to act like it 'aint no thang'. Because it IS a thang. It DOES matter. It IS important. If people stop hiding what they truly feel and think, and other people would actually listen, and pay attention, and show some respect, for what other people feel and think, then the world would be a better place.

hi! I finished the new harry potter book yesterday, and i thought it was EXCELENT! I cried at the last few chapters especially when sirius died!! I hope the new book comes out soon, i really want to know what happens next! But i think, cause J.k's pregnant, it might take a wile (T___T) I used to hate Snape in the previous books as i could never understand why he hated Harry so much, but now i understand. When i read the part when harry goes into the pensieve i was really upset at how James treated Severus! I realy wanted harry to tell severus that he was sorry about how his father had treated him, and that he understood. But it never happened!! Cho chang was very unpredictable in this book, one minite she was happy the next she was crying...I really wanted her and harry to get together [properly] oh well, c yah -anna

I don't agree with that. We have to be very careful about where and when we use force, and that's not because of stupid reasons like being chicken. That is for reasons of global and national stability and safety. If a "dictator refuses to talk," that's not enough reason to launch a pre-emptive strike. Ariel Sharon is not exactly falling in line with our demands, but you don't see us invading Israel. Likewise, there are many dictators that we as a nation have not only put in place, but have supported in their misdeeds. There are more dictators in the world than can be counted. Our job as a nation is not to establish our cultural views and political system on the entire world. We don't have the right, and we don't have the funds. You have to realize that the world is not a black and white place. Solutions like "if he refuses to talk, we bomb him" are both short-sighted and ultimately self-defeating. Force should be used as a last resort, always. I agree that sometimes the use of force is absolutely necessary, but only in certain circumstances. For instance, if a nation poses an imminent threat to us or our interests (as in the First Gulf War, or in the case of ousting the Taliban, who were sheltering Al Quaeda), then we have the right and even the duty to use force. But there was NO imminent threat coming from Iraq, as is now being proved. We were lied to. Our fear was manipulated by our government to stampede us into a war of aggression against a nation that certainly did not pose the threat to us that our government said it did. Think about that. If we make a habit of using pre-emptive strikes whenever we want to, there is no reason whatsoever that other countries can't and won't follow suit - check out the situation between Pakistan and India. They are two nuclear countries who have been at daggers drawn for years now, and are now talking about using America's example and launching pre-emptive strikes against one another. The world looks to us for examples. If we make the example of pre-emption and disregard of international law and opinions, there are much greater consequences than just what happens in Iraq. This is getting awfully long, so I'll stop now. If you'd like to move this discussion to email, I'd be fine with that.
