I doubt you still check this. But I thought of you the other day. I wondered if you were still around. What you're up to.
from rasev :
shrink-wrapped books? wtf? Was the book really that explicit? I mean I liked the movie and I probably won't read the book. For some reason I hate watching a movie and then reading the book, or vise versa. I think its because I am an impatient person; I even hate watching a movie multiple times. Weird huh? I don't think I have heard of books being censored from minors here unless it had nudity on the cover like your playboys and penthouse. Don't worry, I didn't expect you to represent Australians, lol. I know how awkward it is to feel like you are expected to represent a whole group. It seems like here in the good 'ol Southern US every black person is spokesperson for 14% of the pop. we make up. If one more person asks me about black people's view on Obama, I'm gonna fuckin' flip, lol.
from rasev :
Does the fact that I had to goggle Bret Easton Ellis make me uncultured? or that fact that I only recognized titles on his Wiki book list because they were made into movies? well it is what it is. Anyway, its good that use of the word hasn't become a trend there as well. oh, and if it accounts for anything I've never actually met an Australian personally.
from rasev :
Do you normally refer to all "black" people as niggers? I'm asking because I recently was reading a past entry of yours and I noticed how freely you used the word. Where did you learn that word? Was it something you learned from American cinema and music? Is it common in Australian culture to use the word? Do you use it to refer to any melanin rich individual? becasue it seems hard for me to believe that the Outback contains lots of African descendants. Please don't take this as an attack I am just really interested in other cultures and how they perceive Americans (especially Afro-Americans). Thanks rasev PostScript- You really are an amazing writer
from sunstargirl :
Hey Bruce Wayne, have you seen The Dark Knight yet? Don't tell me anything if you have because I haven't seen it yet and I really want to!! I just want to know if you thought it lived up to all the hype. Miss our emails too. :D
from sunstargirl :
okay, recommendation time. Have you seen Kiss Kiss Bang Bang? I think you would love it. It's effing hilarious too.
from sunstargirl :
haha :)
from sunstargirl :
I saw "Mad Max" and my response is wtf?!?!
from sunstargirl :
you do? I did? How long ago was that? huh. I think you probably have a defunct address at this point. If I was in college then that address no longer works. I tend to change my email every other year or so. jeez, do I have yours? I don't see you in my contacts list. I can't find musk sticks online. sadness! I've found plenty of sites selling musk scented incense sticks, but obviously that is not what I'm looking for. Looks like they're REALLY only something one can get in Australia. Their company seriously needs to go global, I mean, wtf... who does that anymore? lol. ;)
from sunstargirl :
thanks for the understanding. Ugh, this has been the shittiest 24 hours and I apologize for the bad mood. I would elaborate but I'm weary of spying eyes. At any rate, I'm bouncing back now. :) I won't go into the Ishmael stuff again because I don't want you to feel like I'm giving you a lecture or pressing a topic that doesn't really interest you. I hate being "preached at" so I try not to do it to other people. I wish I had better luck in my recommendations to you though! I keep recommending things that I like and think you'll like too based on your writings, but I obviously do not have you pegged well at all. I thought for sure you would like Ishmael because of something you wrote in your blog once, but I don't remember what it was. I absolutely agree with you that it is going to get worse before it gets better. This society is going to collapse along with the decline of oil. I think many people are going to die and there are going to be a lot of wars. That's why I'm trying to prepare for it by learning how to survive off the grid - like hunting, recognizing edible plants, knowing how to make a shelter, making a fire without matches, etc. That's what my Ishmael Group is about. The people most dependent on the system to provide them with all their basic needs are going to be the first casualties of collapse. But then afterward, the people who live get to decide in which directions to "rebuild" and suddenly all these things will become vitally relevant. I wonder if I can order some musk sticks online to try them? lol, I don't think candy has a sexual preference but that's funny. Now that I know a candy exists on the planet that I have not yet tried, I really want some!! For some reason, your using the word "fuck" was really shocking to me. I guess I don't see you swear very much, or maybe it was because the sentence sounded so emotionally charged... in any case, yes, stay away from Jensen. Now I'm off to see if I can order a musk stick...
from sunstargirl :
hey nick, I'm having a really bad day and I don't really have the energy to write an adequate response to your note. I'm sorry. I just wanted to let you know I received it though. Thank you. I'm just too defeated right now to concentrate. I'll try to give you a better response in a couple days.
from sunstargirl :
wow, I'm really sorry you didn't like it. You're the first person I've recommended it to who hasn't liked it. I must say that I am surprised by some of your interpretations, but I guess I've heard similar arguments before on some of the forums. I do have to say that Quinn doesn't hate humanity. He wouldn't have written so much, nor given so many speeches and started so many workshops, if he hated humanity. Perhaps he hates this culture, but culture is not the same thing as humanity. I think he loves humanity and wants to save this culture from self-destruction as well as annihilating or assimilating the rest of humanity. He's writing because he cares, not because he hates. I think in his writings, Quinn tries to be very careful about making those distinctions clear. I know he makes those distinctions very clear when you talk to him in person, though I've only met him once. That said, he does have a tendency to draw in some of the weirdos of society who just hate everyone and think the solution is to blow up the stock exchange or credit card companies (insert Fight Club analogy here). I have little patience for these people, and Quinn always gives these guys a harsh reality check. As for his ending, he has realized that the end of Ishmael gets interpreted that way a lot, though he wanted people to get the message not just to pass on his book, but to start experimenting with different ways of living. That's why he beats the reader over the head with the phrase "There is no one right way to live." His ultimate vision is for people to break away from this one way of living and start being creative again. The point is that variety, not singularity is the best way to ensure survival in nature and this same rule applies to cultural diversity as well. This is the opposite way that we're currently heading - which is globalization (another term would be cultural imperialism). If we only have one culture, one economy, one language, one method of feeding ourselves, etc etc, what fail safes do we have for when it collapses? I know the fact that this culture isn't sustainable and WILL collapse sounds very negative and even bleak or hateful, but it's a truth that needs to be heard. There's really no happy or positive way to say it. I think Quinn wrote Beyond Civilization because people were dissatisfied with the ending of Ishmael. He tries to give more solid ideas of what to DO in Beyond Civilization, but he is weary of giving such clear cut answers to that question because the point is that we need to be creative and experiment with all kinds of different ways of living, not just switch over to one other way. As far as the movie goes, Instinct is terrible. It doesn't portray any of Quinn's message very clearly at all. I hate that movie, ugh. Everyone involved in the revolution hates the movie. But rent it and see for yourself, maybe you will like it as just a movie, who knows? I haven't read Providence yet, but I've heard he talks a lot about his education in it. Bear gave me a copy of it last Christmas but I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. Of Quinn's other works: My Ishmael is written in the same format as Ishmael and covers a lot of the same ground but he also talks about educational systems and the workforce. He spends a lot of time talking about groups of people who have already dropped out like homeless people, carnies, thespians, etc. The Story of B is kind of funny because his main character is the anti-christ, written with the fictional part at the front and all the "intellectual" essays at the back of the book. And yes, his stories are not great fiction. He's not a fiction writer, really. They are just a way to break up the the information to make it more readable to a larger audience. Most people won't willingly read dense, nonfiction, but they will read a story. He tries to combine the two so that our anti-intellectual/attention-deficit culture will actually sit down and listen. I applaud the creative execution of the information, though he gets a lot of criticism for not being a great fiction writer. I think these critics totally miss the point entirely. Whatever. I really don't recommend reading any of Derrick Jensen's books. If you didn't like Ishmael then you will absolutely HATE Jensen. He's even more angry and pessimistic than Quinn and offers no solutions. He's a real nutter. Most of the seriously anti-social people-haters I've met on the Quinn sites come from the Derrick Jensen sites. They all just seem like borderline psychotics to me... the type of kids who would plan a school shooting. I don't think those guys hang around to learn about permacultural farming or wind energy as much as they do just to mess up the threads with bullshit about killing off all of humanity, etc. I try to remember that these guys are suffering the most from the lack of connection and support of this culture, but the negativity and immaturity gets annoying after awhile and others usually drive them off the forums within a few weeks. Any group is going to have their weird "hangers-on" I guess, this group seems to attract the socially stunted. Anyway, I don't know what a musk stick is. It sounds smelly. What is it? Friday the 13th, cool. I seem to remember you telling me that before. I really hesitate to recommend anything else to you now since Ishmael went over like a lead balloon, but if you want a more hopeful book about these same issues, a book that shows what people are DOING to change society, then I would recommend "Gaviotas: A Village to Reinvent the World" by Alan Weisman. It's not fictional. It's about a self-sustainable village in Columbia designed by engineers and environmentalists. The writer is a journalist. This village is AMAZING and really inspiring. It gives me a lot of hope, knowing what is possible. Based on your criticisms of Ishmael, I think Gaviotas would be a more appealing book for you, if this kind of stuff interests you at all, that is. I'm really sorry for recommending a book that you didn't like, but thanks for giving it a try. I guess it's not for everyone.

Well, eating cloned animals doesn't really solve the problem that we have a burgeoning population that is systematically turning all the diverse flora and fauna on the planet into a monoculture of only things that we eat. Allowing only that which we can eat to live and wiping out everything else to make room to raise or grow more of what we eat isn't a stable ecosystem and not sustainable. I am so glad to hear that you are reading Ishmael! I'm glad you appreciated the humor behind my Nicole Simpson costume as well. I got mixed reactions about it at the time. I think it's a tragedy that you don't have Halloween. Poor, deprived Australian children! That's seriously one of the saddest things I've ever heard. How do your dentists make a living?!?!
from sunstargirl :
Well Thanksgiving I understand, though Canada has one about a month before ours, which is bizarre, but no Halloween?!?! You guys are missing out! It's the best holiday! I use to get so much loot when I was little that I'd throw up every year. Everybody would bring candy to school for lunch for a whole week afterward and we'd swap for favorites. Now the best part is thinking up a funny costume - like one year during the whole OJ Simpson trials I dressed up as Nicole Simpson with my neck slit and bloody and carried around an empty jug of orange juice. Last year my friend Debbie dressed up as Britney Spears from the VMAs and put a pillow under her skin suit so she looked fat and bloated like Britney did. It was effin hilarious. A lot of girls just try to dress as slutty as they can because it's sort of like free pass night to dress like a whore, but I always try to come up with a funny/original costume. I'm sorry you're so busy. You sound pissed off about it. I hope life slows down again soon for you so I can read more about what's been going on with you down under.
from sunstargirl :
Yeah, I know it's a holiday just to boost the economy again after the Christmas season, but I wasn't sure if it was just an American thing or not. I guess all capitalized systems have to have these shopping spree triggers though, so it's most efficient for us all to have the same ones - saves time on marketing. I put American Splendor in my queue. So what have you been so busy with lately? What new thing has taken up the blog writing spot in your schedule?
from sunstargirl :
I felt worse for the old uncle/producer than Mike. The uncle seemed very broken by life. Keep the recommendations coming. I just put them on my online queue and they get mailed to me each week as the list rotates forward. How are you doing down under? You've been very quiet. Happy Valentine's Day! (Does Australia celebrate V-Day?)
from sunstargirl :
Hoop Dreams - interesting that the kid who stayed at the private school ended up getting a better education and getting into a pretty good college, but seemed like he was less happy with his life than the other kid. He got pushed harder and ended up deciding that he didn't really like playing basketball anymore, whereas the other kid wasn't pushed as hard and kept the dream. American Movie - The burnt out hippie rocker friend totally made that film. Every time he laughed his weird laugh it left me in stitches. That guy was a riot.

This lack of formatting is driving me crazy. Plus, I realized I'm not sure how you could respond given that my diary is defunct. If you're still around, shoot me an e-mail at evan.a.white AT gmail DOT com. Isn't that how people do it nowadays to avoid getting their inbox raped with spam?
from lynchian :
Hey, what gives? I had to resurrect my old Diaryland account so I could complain about your lack of updates. It's been a year now! Your writing was growing more fantastic by the entry. How are you? I crave more information. Still keeping in contact with Sarah? Still creating awkward masturbation moments? Still getting drunk with your lame-ass friends? I mean, come on, we all knew you were too good for them. I'm in quite a different place than I was when I stopped updating the ol' devotee blog and I was wondering how life is treating you, post-movieboy. I'll show you mine if you show me yours.
from sunstargirl :
Well I should clarify that it wasn't just this film that has prompted these discussions. Immigrating is something that I've been thinking about for several years now, and the more I read, the more films like Sicko that I see, and the more totalitarian my government becomes in its policies, the more I want to get the hell out. Sicko is more like just the tipping point of overall dissatisfaction with this country that has been accumulating in me over the years that may actually, finally, prompt me into action about it. And of course I'd want to spend time in places first to see whether or not the country would be a good fit. I've been to most of Western and Northern Europe and Canada many times, so I already have an idea of them, but Bear has never been outside the US before so I'd definitely want to go for his sake if nothing else. I have a lot of family still living in the Netherlands, so that is one option, and I know a lot of people in England (old friends of my family, etc.) My best friend has already done what I'm thinking about doing. She's known since middle school that she didn't want to live in the US. It's been her plan for years now, and indeed as soon as she graduated from university she was out of here. Hasn't been back since. She's fortunate in that she's bilingual in French. She taught in France after college, now she's getting a law degree in England right now, but I think she's going to end up settling down in France in the end. About Bear and me, like any other couple, we definitely have our fair share of arguments. I just don't write about them in my blog. There are a lot of things that I don't write about on here, just as a general policy because it is a public space and I can't control who will read it. Relationships are a lot of hard work and you have to continue putting the time and effort into them that they need in order to not fall apart. The good thing about Bear and me is that we both want to keep putting the time and effort into ours to make sure it succeeds. We don't go to bed angry with each other, we sit down and hash it all out right then and there until it's resolved. Because of this, our fights only ever last for a couple hours at most, NEVER for days, weeks, months, or years, the way some people's do. I'm sure you've often heard that the key to a healthy relationship is good communication, and it really is true. Bear and I have good communication, and it's something we both value and continue to nourish, especially when a problem comes up. This is what makes me think that our relationship could last for a very long time. Arguments are normal, even getting sick of each other is normal, but what you have to do when these things happen is deal with them accordingly - not ignore them until resentment piles up to the point of a break up or not allow each other to have separate activities/alone time to the point where the person feels that the only way to get their alone time is to cut that person out altogether. But yeah, anyway, we have our fair share of some pretty spectacular fights, but for the most part we're really compatible and we take the time to communicate our needs to each other, so we've been able to work through these fights so far. I have a secret diary (it's locked so no one can access it except me) that I have upon occasion written about our fights, but like I said before, I don't like to write about that stuff in my blog, just as a general rule because I don't know who will read it, I don't want other people giving their advice/opinions and thereby getting involved in Bear's and my private matters, and also because Bear reads my diary and I don't think it would be nice to write about him in a negative way, even momentarily, like that. It wouldn't solve any argument between us to write about him like that in front of other people. I think it would be very passive-aggressive, juvenile, and involve a lot of people who don't belong there into the argument. It's not an effective way to communicate and solve a problem with someone in a nonviolent manner. I'm rambling and this is getting way too long, my apologies.
from sunstargirl :
What do you mean "programmed" to pass on? I'll put them on my movie queue. I've been trying to think of how to put all my feelings about Sicko into an entry, but haven't had the time yet. We watched it along with another documentary about Evangelists in the US called Jesus Camp. The combination of the two was really taxing on my nerves. It's lead us to some very serious discussions over the past few days, most notably, do we really want to continue living in the US? More and more I think I need to get out of here because I'm so chronically frustrated and dissatisfied with this country and this culture in general. There has to be a better way to live than this. The first thing I said after watching Sicko was, "Why are we living here? It makes no sense to continue living here." To which Bear replied, "I'm ready to leave, to go anywhere you want, if you are. Let's go." Now the hard part is figuring out when and where we want to go. We don't know much about other countries or how to immigrate, English is the only language either of us speak very well, and (this may sound trite, but it's a LOT of wasted money to consider) I just bought a whole apartment worth of furniture over the past 2 years that I'm going to have to abandon. Plus there's the distance from friends and family - everyone I love and have shared my life with thus far. It's been an emotional, stressful couple of days, on top of which there's this whole school factor with Bear right now that we got in a huge fight about and almost broke up over but that is another very long story. I really need to put it all down in a new blog entry, but right now I think it's 90% likely that we're going to try to immigrate somewhere in the next few years. We need to really research where we want to move to first though, and what exactly the whole process would be because I know it takes years and isn't easy. We're probably limited to English speaking countries, though I'm sure we could get better at Spanish. Right now Canada seems the easiest option since it's so close (only 2-3 hours to the border), but it might not be the best option. It's a huge decision that I don't want to make impulsively.

I rented Sicko. Haven't watched it yet. Get back to ya when I do.

does this mean you'll update? huh? huh? nudge nudge.

LOL!! ...yeah, bananas... hmm... and wow, I am at a loss for words. I think my face is probably beet red right now, lol. You know, it was quite a difficult sketch, because I realized as I was drawing it that I have no idea what you look like, what your hair color is, or even if you're a white person. So, I made you look kind of like my brother before he grew his hair out... who is also named Nick. Gave you a black t-shirt though, as I randomly recall you mentioning that you wear a lot of black t-shirts once. I'll draw you a better picture next time... this one was kinda crappy because I was just warming up.
from sunstargirl :
You gave me a great idea! I drew a monkey for you. Check out the entry called "Operation Blogger Blackmail" to see your monkey. I'll draw you a scary looking tiger or wolf next if you update.
from sunstargirl :
Oh I don't doubt that the wiki page totally bashes the film because it is very controversial. I don't know if I even buy it myself. One big issue I had with it was that they argue that a video of Osama Bin Laden couldn't possibly really be him because he's left-handed and the guy in the video is using his right hand to do things, like eat. Obviously the film makers don't understand that in Arab countries you don't use your left hand for anything but wiping your ass. The right hand is used for everything, even if a person is naturally left handed. It's a matter of hygiene over there, wrapped up in thousands of years of religious doctrine as well. So, yeah, there are some things wrong with the film, but the one thing it did make me wonder about is why the towers collapsed the way they did. They shouldn't have collapsed like that. And the government took all the debris from the site and recycled it before anyone could study it. It's fishy. Plus, a lot of people who were there on 9/11 state that they heard multiple explosions. Those are things that even the critics can't explain, and avoid explaining. I vaguely remember that scandal about the clip of people cheering on the news. Yeah, wow, funny what we let slide. It seemed like everyone went crazy right afterward. I remember all the "United We Stand" propaganda that went up like, overnight. And newscasters telling people who were against the Patriotic Act or Homeland Security that they were Un-American or Un-Patriotic. If you weren't for the war then you were as good as a terrorist yourself. It was totally bizarre, the way people acted. The fever scared me. I didn't know what to do or what to make of it. Hey, what's your favorite animal?
from sunstargirl :
I didn't know they've made 'Choke' into a movie! I'm so going to see that! Dude, that is going to be the most fucked up movie! 'Choke' and 'Survivor' are my favorites as well. I tried reading some of 'Lullaby' (I think it was) in the bookstore but I couldn't get through all the profanity. It was too distracting. I haven't read 'Fight Club' because I saw the movie. Watching the movies first ruins books for me. I have to do it the other way around to enjoy both. I mistakenly saw 'Lord of the Rings' before reading Tolkien and now I can't get past the first book... they drag on forever... ugh. It's awful because Bear is like completely obsessed with Tolkien and I can't stand to read his favorite story. Love the movies though! haha. See if you can copy and paste: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7866929448192753501 To watch 'Loose Change' because I don't think it's something you can rent at a video store, but make sure you can spend an hour and a half at the computer watching it. If that link doesn't work just Google "Loose Change" and click "2nd Edition." It's basically a conspiracy theory video about 9/11, but the questions they raise are really valid, I think. They interview all these scientists who've analyzed metals found at ground zero that don't make sense to have been there (they think the buildings were rigged with bombs in addition to the planes). And they also have tracked down some of the supposed hijackers that the US govt put on our official list who are still alive and well, living in like Canada, and they're like, "Umm, yeah, thanks for putting me on your list from 9/11 or whatever but I've been living in Canada all this time and had nothing to do with it." It's interesting because most of the rest of the world (especially Iran) thinks that our own govt attacked ourselves, but we (as in US citizens) never hear about any of this stuff. We're fed so much Fox news bullshit. Anyway, I have no idea what the truth is. I'm pretty skeptical of a lot of stuff from this little documentary, but I also think that at least they're asking the questions no one else dares to ask. I don't know if we'll ever find out the real truth about what's been going on for the past 7 years, but I certainly don't trust anything the Bush Administration says. I found a friend who has a copy of Vonnegut's 'Cat's Cradle' which I was going to ask to borrow. Apparently Vonnegut graded his own works and he only gave 'Cat's Cradle' and 'Slaughterhouse 5' an A+. You can see all his "grades" on his wikipedia page. I will post more of my artwork if you update your diary. Deal?
from sunstargirl :
Sorry it's taken me a few days to respond - I haven't been able to sit down in front of the computer lately. 'Apt Pupil' was very disturbing. Like a lot of King's stories, they've turned it into a movie as well (story was better). My friend Kara is neighbors with Steven King. Her sister and his son dated for awhile when they were in high school. She says Steven King is this really dorky looking friendly guy, not dark or scary at all in person, and you wouldn't even think he could come up with the stuff he does to talk to him in person. I haven't read much of Palahniuk, but I've enjoyed what I've come across so far just because his stories are so bizarre. He's definitely someone I have to take breaks from though. It's intense writing. I'll look around for 'Palm Sunday.' Let me know when you're starting on it. Thanks for the complement on my drawing and photos. **beams** I didn't take the shot of Seattle with the lightning though. I wish I had a panoramic lens! That one I ripped off the net. 'Ishmael' doesn't really talk about technology as much as agriculture and society structure. I dunno, I'll talk to you more about it after you read it. Michael Moore is an interesting guy. 'Bowling for Columbine' is pretty much awesome. I was bawling in the theater when I saw 'Fahrenheit 9/11' but I like 'Loose Change' better as a documentary about 9/11 (you can watch it for free on the net if you have high speed, it's about an hour and a half long). I still need to see 'Sicko.'
from sunstargirl :
I had to look up who 'I Am Legend' was by, and was surprised to discover that Richard Matheson also wrote 'Somewhere In Time' and 'What Dreams May Come'... what an eclectic writer. Vampires and romance stories... yeah that's way more disturbing than just vampires by themselves. And I thought Stephen King was fucked up. You know, Vonnegut is one of those authors that it seems like everyone and their mother has read, but I've yet to read anything by him. I'm bad. You'll have to recommend your favorite book by him and I'll read it, or if you're just starting, tell me which one you're reading and we can read it at the same time. I'm glad you got a copy of 'Ishmael' and I hope you get around to it soon. It's my favorite book. As far as 'An Inconvenient Truth' goes, I still don't know how I feel about it. I'm glad that it's raising people's awareness that our lifestyle has negative consequences on our ecosystem, but I disagree with the solutions Gore provides at the end. Buying a hybrid and using florescent light bulbs is not the answer. More consumerism doesn't solve the problem that we are consuming too many resources too quickly. What needs to happen is for us to walk away from Civilization altogether. That's what 'Ishmael' is about. Derrick Jensen is a writer who believes that we're headed toward a huge collapse soon, when we run out of oil in the next few years. He thinks it will be very violent and most of our population will wipe itself out. He wants to help start the collapse. His philosophy reminds me a lot of 'Fight Club' but his writing is very dense, like reading a textbook. I think Daniel Quinn presents similar ideas and information, but in a much more digestible form.

I once stopped writing on here for 3 years. I completely forgot I even had this thing. It's embarrassing to admit, but the reason I rediscovered it was because a boy I had a crush on told me he blogged at a party so I reactivated mine just as an excuse to talk to him more. Now it's like an addiction. Some people from DL have moved to other sites, like myspace or blogspot, so I was just wondering if you had moved or simply stopped updating. It's sad to see people vanish.
from sunstargirl :
Yeah, I really liked that movie too. My favorite part was when he sets himself on fire and the girl his mom is trying to hook him up with starts screaming, and then he walks into the room all nonchalantly. Though when he turns his new Porsche into a hearse is really funny as well. How come you don't update anymore?
from sunstargirl :
Have you ever seen this movie called "Harold and Maude"?

Hey stranger, welcome to the Democratic party. Your results indicate that you are definitely a strong liberal, now we can be friends. I was glad to get a note from you. I had thought you'd abandoned DL altogether. I have this whole list of favorite diaries, but none of you guys write anymore! Also, you don't have to do the "tagged" game if you don't want to, lol.
from sunstargirl :
Tagged! This is what you are supposed to do. Cut and paste if you decide to participate in the tagging game. Each player of this game starts off by giving 6 weird things about themselves. People who get tagged need to write in a blog of their own 6 weird things as well as state the rules clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. After you do that, leave them each a comment letting them know you tagged them and to read your blog.

lol, I don't think anything you write is mundane. Maybe some events in of themselves, but you write about them with style. To quote one of my all time favorite writers, Tom Robbins, "The most important thing in life is style." He was not talking about matching one's shoes with their purse either... It's all about the style with which you describe events. You are a natural born story teller. Anyway, I find parts of your diary alternatingly sad and humorous. I've both chuckled and worried. Your writing sort of reminds me of Jack Keruoac in that sense. You're a Beat writer living in the postmodern era. I like that your diary also seems to have a unified theme. I often feel like I'm reading a drawn out character sketch. This is probably why you get a lot of notes from people telling you that you should turn it into a book. They sense the potential of turning this character, you, into a protagonist or antagnonist and following him through adventures to a resolution. Will Nick grow up to save the day, or destroy it? dun dun dun...
from sunstargirl :
I did not like 'Brazil' at all. Throughout the whole movie I just kept thinking, how did they ever convince someone to produce this? ...Well, everyone was on drugs back then. And yes, the coconut joke was what I was referring to, not the end-end where they just rounded everyone up and say okay that's a wrap. That part was chaotic and lame. Plus, I just love the Holy Hand Grenade scene. Priceless. If you've ever tried to read the Bible, it makes that scene so effin' funny because they're totally making fun of how long-winded it is. On a different note, "I had to remember to hold out the correct wrist; the one without any scars." This makes me sad. :( <--very sad face. I hope that you do not feel the need to do that to yourself anymore. It is incredible that you shared that. I'm honored to be able to read about your experiences in life. I can't even imagine... I hope that you've found another outlet that helps you feel alive. You're so intelligent and talented that I hate for you to feel... I don't even know how you feel, or felt... There are no words. I know that it is your emotional depth that drew me to your writing in the first place, and that you can't be brilliant and not suffer for it, but all the same, I wish you all the happiness in the world. It sounds cheesy, but I mean it sincerely. I hope you find true happiness and drown in it's intoxicating effects, never to recover.
from sunstargirl :
Eww, Brazil? That is such a shame. Oh well. Like I said, people either love it or hate it. The humor is very dry, very British - not for everyone. My friend Kara has never been able to watch it all the way through, which is sad considering all the best jokes are at the end and are only understandable after watching the first half of the film. She can't stand it though. Personally, I like it as far as comedies go because the humor is at least an intellectual step above the comedy in films like "Dude, Where's My Car?" that they're coming out with by the dozens nowadays. Can we say comedy written for Neanderthals? I really appreciate your open-mindedness in checking it out though. Thanks for giving it a try! :) You rock! I'm just sorry it was a waste of 2 hours of your life. Maybe you should just recommend movies to me from now on because I'm sure your cinematic tastes are far more refined.
from sunstargirl :
So, I take it you didn't like The Holy Grail?
from sunstargirl :
Life of Brian was not in the least bit funny. Terrible movie. Its copies should be rounded up and burned, German style, as retribution for even attempting to pass itself off as entertainment, let alone comedy. I'm sorry if you felt that I was belittling you about Carnegie Hall in my entry. In my defense, you are not my only Australian reader, and as I am discovering that things I had thought to be common knowledge only a few months ago aren't neccessarily so, I no longer presume anyone to know anything. Besides which, I wouldn't expect a person on the other side of the world to know much about American cultural sites, especially seeing as how citizens of my own country haven't even heard of them. Since you do in fact know what Carnegie Hall is, even though you are on the OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD, I'm sure you can understand my utter horror at living among these brainless masses.
from sunstargirl :
I can't believe no one carries MP's The Holy Grail! I wonder if you would like it... people seem to either absolutely love it or hate it. As for "Ishmael," I still think you would love the series. Did your dad check out "My Ishmael" or "The Story of B?" And has he read the book yet? I'm sure you can find a copy online for about $3... err, rewind for a second because I have no idea what that configures into in terms of Aussie currency, let's just say it's dirt cheap. I'm surprised you were even taking my suggestions seriously. People always recommend books or movies but no one ever follows through with actually seeking such recommendations out. I'm very pleasantly surprised. What a rare treasure.
from sunstargirl :
I miss your sporatic updates. Do you think you'll be feeling like expressing your thoughts again anytime soon?
from oddsfish :
Been a while since I've said hello. Hello. I was thinking while reading, that you should combine this into a book and publish it. It's good enough.
from sassystarz :
Sweetman - what an entry. You own my heart with this entry. I still really hate Sarah for how she treated you...and am waiting for something good to come of all this. *hugs*
from sassystarz :
I love you entry and learning about your past. Your words make it seem like Im right there with you. However, if I were there with you, Id be kicking Sarahs ass. She is a sad example of how real relationships can be. If shed get over herself, shed see what a great catch you are and how good things could be, rather than hurting you with her selfish stuck up attitude. Ugh! *hugs* Sweetman. Keep up the awesome writing! I NEED more!
from pink-pearls :
I liked this latest post. I do have to say though if Sarah is your main contact with females she most definitely does not represent the majority of girls.
from sassystarz :
Touching, scary, sad, exciting...I love it! GREAT job Sweetman!! *hugs*
from sassystarz :
Fantastic Sweetman, your words are pure magic! *hugs*
from sassystarz :
Awesome entry, brilliant words, magnificent writing! You out did yourself Sweetman, amazing simply amazing. *hugs*

I thought girls were meant to be the complicated gender? Because you have got me fucking stumped.
from widow767 :
If you are so depressed with your surroundings just pack up and leave.... it is that easy. Happy New Year
from sassystarz :
You are not the most insensitive man on the planet - and if sarah really feels that way she doesn't know you at all! *hugs* YOU rock sweetman and that's the truth....*hugs*
from sassystarz :
You really got all the emotions going again with your awesome writing, your magic words. YOU rock my world Sweetman! *hugs*
from pink-pearls :
When movieboy is lit up with red on my buddy list it pleases me far far more than it should.
from sassystarz :
You're welcome Sweetman HUGE *hugs*
from sassystarz :
Your writing makes me smile, laugh and cry all at the same time. I cant wait for each new entry, your words are magic. Im addicted to you Nick! *hugs*
from pink-pearls :
I have to say that the line, "I heard the word bling in four separate, unrelated circumstances today, and diva twice. So, you know, Im on edge too. made my day. Even if you were serious when you said it, it still made me laugh out loud.
from oddsfish :
Youth is painful. I hear from so many people that they had the most fun as teenagers, and I really can't see it. I suppose I can only speak for myself, but watching everyone else appear to have fun and a life while I struggled through trying to exist for a day still makes me sick and angry and embarrassed. But if I had to do it all over again (and I'm not sure you could pay me enough), there is SO MUCH I would try to do differently. If only I had cared less than I did.
from pink-pearls :
Just wanted to say I hope the meeting with Sarah comes about and that you don't think it'll be as gut-wrenchingly awkward as I think you may dread. I don't think you can form so close a bond over so many years and have nothing to talk about. Good luck.
from oddsfish :
Nick, you bastard. Where've you been? I suppose I've fallen into your category of boring but I bore myself, so it's no big deal. Your life truly does read like a Brett Easton Ellis novel. Maybe you should write, and I don't mean diaries. I haven't got much else to say, so I'll leave it at that.
from sassystarz :
*hugs* and lots of them!!!
from bluperspex :
yeah. to be 18 forever would work. good times. now... with a quater of a centuary looming... things don't look so peachy anymore. perhaps my brain has started to leak. i hope yours hasn't reached that stage yet. and yeah, go out and get wasted. because, well... why not!
from sassystarz :
You need to tell Sarah to go jump off a cliff...and YOU need to get closer with the new chick at work. Go for it Nick...I know you can do it, I know you can! Go for that booty!!! *hugs*
from sassystarz :
Happy Birthday Nick!!! *hugs*
from skotlz :
hey man! i havent sent ya anote in ages! congrats on the pay rise!
from sassystarz :
OMG, how embarrassing! Oh well, the good news is, your Mom wont have to guess what the odd smell is in the computer room anymore! Youre pretty lucky she didnt freak, it could have been worse. Take it easy Sweetman *hugs*

from my-solitaire :
Double digits? You're thinking too small man, try triples lol. I just wanted to say Hi again, so Hi.
from my-solitaire :
If you ever need someone else to give a review kinda like siskel and roper, just let me know I'd be happy to review with you.... You should review Napoleon Dynamite so I can see what you have to say about that! ^_-
from sassystarz :
yeah, that sarah is a winner isn't she. *hugs* hang in there sweetman, better things are heading your way! MWAH

When you start working on your NEW laptop, all your talent will come rushing back all wide awake and ready for you to use. You're very talented Nick and don't forget it! *hugs*

from widow767 :
I really don't know why I asked you such a stupid question. I got in a fist fight with my bastard of a cousin that night, and I hit my head really hard. Sorry. I beat his ass by the way. Oh, Happy Holidays
from sassystarz :
Merry Christmas Nick *hugs*
from widow767 :
Really? My sister went blond once, but she is black so it didn't workout to well; people kept calling her little Kim.
from widow767 :
What color hair do you have?... I know it's an awkward question, but it's something I need to know.
from widow767 :
Do you refer to all Black people as Niggers, or just that guy that slept with your friend?
from iminmyhell :
i just like the way you put your thoughts in writing, it's interesting to read, it's almost like seeing in your brain~ ok i know that sounded weird as fuck, but that's the only way i can explain it.
from sassystarz :
I'll remember you always always! AND that's the truth! :-)
from iminmyhell :
well i just got done reading your journal, and man, you need to get laid, but that's cool, your a man, but yeah, i like your view on some shit you talk about in your diary. dont worry, you'll find some "willing" girl sometime, just be careful....willing girls are usually willing to lotsa guys! yeah, i'm gonna shut the fuck up now~

from skotlz :
hey stumbled across your diary and great writing!
from sassystarz :
How about tug o war with your mates? Could work?!? You need to get your wrist taken care of! *hugs*
from sonic-death :
oh yeah, you do. suggestions for your top 5 death scenes: exploding head in Scanners. the one in Naked Gun where the guy is shot and then stumbles around the room, banging his head on things, putting his hand on the stove and (if i remember correctly) falling out the window. sam raimi is amazing. evil dead 2 is the greatest. did you notice how that scene in spiderman 2 where doc ock's arms are killing the people in the hospital is reminiscent of the way raimi shot scenes in the first two evil deads? where it's like a P.O.V. of the demon going towards bruce campbell or whoever the other people were? a lot of people were complaining that the spidey movies are hokey, but that's how spiderman IS! people expect these characters to change because times are more cynical now. bullocks!
from sonic-death :
wow i didn't think you'd read it again! thanks, i guess. i don't know if i should be saying thanks. ? lord of the rings is probably more for people who are daydreaming all the time and live in a fantasy world. i can see why people wouldn't like it. do you like david lynch?
from sonic-death :
hey nick. don't worry, hamilton, ontario isn't any better than sydney. lots of bums, beligerent youth, pretentious university students. i enjoy your diary; quite honest. i have to say though... what's the big deal about joseph conrad?! come on! JOSEPH CONRAD! heart of darkness is such a gorgeous and disturbing story. and i like apocalypse now, too.
from garfie :
Hey Nick!!! My name's Natalie and i'm a new member!!! I think you're a pretty interesting guy!! I like "Braveheart" too!!! I still don't know what to do with an online diary yet but I'm sure I'll learn!!!
from sassystarz :
:-( *hugs*
from sassystarz :
You are a very good, kind, sweet man, and way too nice to Sarah. She needs a reality check! *hugs*
from gewerq :
Let's see: you are interested with movies far beyond normal range, not to mention masturbation :P , you have difficulty with nonverbal communication.... I was acutely nonaccepting when I was diagnosed, but it's all good now, I'm fine with it.
from gewerq :
Has anyone suggested you might have Asperger's Syndrome? I mean this in the nicest possible way.
from sassystarz :
HEY! You better watch how you talk about payroll girls! hrmph! :o)
from sassystarz :
Dont be so hard on yourself. You are the shining star...the workmates can go fuck themselves. :o)
from oddsfish :
And then i read your profile.. an BEE fan, I see? I am as well, the boy has a fabulous brain in his head. So why "movieboy"? I'm curious. I have only read one entry...
from oddsfish :
Not to mention, that image in your diary? I own that book. American Psycho, Brett Easton Ellis. The movie was pretty good, the book is INSANELY BRILLIANT.
from lintpickle :
well, dear movieboy, lintpickle is down for the count, but she's resurfaced elsewhere. I invite you to visit me at http://oddsfish.diaryland.com instead. Come see come see! I haven't filled out my profile completely there yet, but I'll add you to the favourites. I'm all about the flicks, you see. (I'm an actress)
from prettytear :
theme song of the nanny?! arrgh why did you have to mention that one...
from sassystarz :
I feel your pain, and understand it. How scary is that?!?
from widow767 :
your diary is addictive
from prettytear :
again one hell of an entertaining entry. could have been a movie script.
from hairplay :
aww, thanks. You know, it actually does make me a little happy when people (such as you) support me and try to make me feel better. Normally, it would get on my nerves.. but I don't know. It seems comforting to me toy have people (people I don't even know) to understand me and try to make me feel better... *hugs* 'hon, ♥ xo.Brit
from sassystarz :
I think every office is full of geeks, minorities, suits and sluts. Trust me, we have our share at the office, especially homosexuals. Our warehouse alone is filled with 75% lesbians. The very male version of a woman. Comfortable...NOT! Whats the deal with having to wear a suit, JUST because you will be riding in a limo? You cant sit on the plush seats in jeans? I hope you have an awesome time whatever youre wearing!! Dont stress too much about Sarah...I think maybe shes just looking for some attention from you. Could be good, could be bad...who knows!
from ladiebug :
thanks for the message, definitely boosted the ego a bit knowing that someone admires my workout obsession :p
from sassystarz :
Congratulations Nick! That is so awesome! Im so happy for you! A GREAT new job, big bucks and a conversation with the hard bodies. WOW! You must feel like a new man. How exciting! Good job Nick. I knew you could do it!
from sassystarz :
lol, dont worry about the question, Ive heard worse. :o) As far as the books go, I dont know anyone that has them, I guess I could try the library before buying them. Im still counting the days for the release of Return on the King. Gah! Why does time move so slow when youre waiting for something so great? I dont think Ill try writing again when Ive had too many Triple Blacks. NOPE! So far the spider dream has left me alone, phew! GOOD LUCK!! GOOD LUCK!! GOOD LUCK WITH THE BOSS!
from sassystarz :
Good luck with the boss next week! Dont sell yourself short. Obviously youre doing a GREAT job or he wouldnt be talking about making you permanent. Does it mean more money too? You cant go wrong with that either! Maybe youll be able to get a place of your own, and get away from the family. (especially your Mom) Damn, I cant believe she said that to you! You dream too, huh? Your dream sounds as much a nightmare as mine, only in a different way. I dont think Ive ever dreamt about giant spiders trying to eat me...gah! I probably will now, lol. This is just a guess...but maybe by a mixer blondie meant something you mix with alcohol. Like scotch and water...or brandy and water. lol, I dont know!
from sassystarz :
No no no, I dont travel to Milwaukee to work. I was referring to Appleton. Thats the biggest city near Waupaca. Geez, Id have to be nuts to travel THAT far...lol! Its only about 40 miles away from home. I havent read the JRR Tolkien books yet, but I want too. However, seeing your opinion does matter, maybe Ill skip them. So...NFL is out, we could always talk about cooking, lmao! Just kidding! How about the NHL? My brother used to play ice hockey, and I do watch it once in a while, not often. Not a huge fan but I know a bit. Im glad you got a laugh out of my poem, I should know better then to drink and write at the same time. You never know what the hell can happen. Tell me, how can I convince you about the sizequeen thing? And IF the questions are embarrassing...DONT write them here, Ill die! As you can see, I spend way too much time online too! Im hooked! Im sure we dont visit the same sites, but still... :o)
from sassystarz :
Ive been here for a few years and will probably stay for a few more. I work in the BIG city so commute back and forth every day. I find the drive is good cool down time at the end of the day. I know what Simpsons episode youre talking about, it was a hoot. Why are you so tired? Watching movies or playing on the Internet instead of sleeping??? I think showing off your eating skills is just as important as showing off your cooking skills. Let them do the work, and you sit back and enjoy! :o) You are absolutely correct! Im insane, I admit it. I made a huge rookie mistake and should have known better. Im hanging my head in shame. Please forgive me! I cant even remember how many times I had tears, especially during the last hour or so of the movie. Its just so awesome! I hope you get to see it again soon! Im not a sizequeen, and I dont giggle! I do however get embarrassed very easily! Thats where the *Ahem* and laugh comes into play. Do you follow the NFL too?
from sassystarz :
NO, I dont live on a farm, lol! Ive always lived in the big city, this is a first for me. Its not bad. I dont really follow the NBA too close, however, if you want to talk football...Im a Denver Broncos fan! They have had a few bad years, but I have no doubt they are coming back someday! Probably when Elway comes out of retirement, lol. A BBQ is a piece of cake, no worries there! Just turn it on, and flip the meat, easy! I slipped up and only bought the fullscreen version of The Two Towers (oh no, Im not perfect!) but, I do have the special extended version of Fellowship and I love it. And yes, dont panic I will be getting the 4-disc version of The Return of the King. One of my favorite scenes is the ghost battle, I sat there in a daze. I couldnt move, I was in complete aw! Ummm, no teasing huh? :o)
from sassystarz :
I live in the little tiny town of Waupaca about 135 miles north of Milwaukee. Although I was born in Milwaukee, Im NOT a Bucks fan. Dont sell yourself short about being a Chef most guys dont even know how to turn on an oven, let alone put meat in it! Tee hee hee! I am way too excited about The Return on the King being released this month! Im counting the days! Shame on you for not seeing it again in the theatre! :o) I know the DVD wont be anywhere near as dramatic as it was on the big screen, but I dont care, I cant wait to add it to my collection. When I get it, I plan on having a Lord of the Rings weekend! A case of Triple Black and hours and hours of Frodo! Woo hoo, Im so excited! So, you created the word sizequeen huh? Nice word! *Ahem* is it true? lol
from sassystarz :
I almost forgot if you get bored, heres the website for the Bucks: http://www.nba.com/bucks
from sassystarz :
Nick, Nick, Nick what am I going to do with you? :o) Ok, well forget about a girl for now, hrmph! Our NBA team is the Milwaukee Bucks. Not much of a team, so Im not surprised that you dont know about them. Im with you about ironing too! Torturous doesnt even describe how I feel about it! Its a good thing I work in a casual office because I dont have to iron my jeans! Yay! Roasted lamb, huh? Nick, Im impressed! You are a chef and were hiding it from me. So tell me, when you walk around naked, do you sing Madonna songs? lol, just teasing! I know I will probably die of embarrassment, but...what is a "sizequeen"? Dont you laugh at me! I cant wait to hear your answer. *hugs*
from sassystarz :
Well, washing clothes is ok, as long as I dont have to iron them. Toasted cheese is the BEST! Have you ever tried it with cheddar AND swiss cheese? Its awesome! Bring on the cheese! I live in Wisconsin, hence the dairy state. And Nick, its never too late, never. Dont you dare give up hope!

Hello luv Ok to get to private entries: http://moviegrrl.diaryland.com/private user: alexandra password: cassiel Its nothing excessively exciting, I just had a sudden attack of respect for the fact that someone who is usually full of bullshit and bluster, actually came out with something a with a little more substance Oh yeah, and this message will self-destruct in 10 seconds.... :P
from sassystarz :
I love to cook & bake, especially homemade bread! Im also a pasta fanatic. In my opinion, pasta goes with anything and everything. Its easy too! :o) Ive never tried bacon on an egg sandwich, but it sounds really good. How about adding a slice of cheese to it? Im also a cheese fanatic! Living in the dairy state, thats no big surprise. It sounds like you do just fine working your way around the kitchen. Dont you worry about Kevin and his chicks, the perfect girl is waiting for you, all you have to do is find her. Give it time and dont give up hope. :o)
from sassystarz :
Nick, not all girlfriends are like Kevins. In fact, in my opinion, thats not a girlfriend at all. So...are you a good chef? Whats your specialty dish?
from shadow-box :
"All this crying and sensitivity just makes me think you're concentrating too much on chick bullshit and that worrying about dickhead guys isn't getting you anywhere" ....How dare you! You fucking cold bastard! Chrissy cries to vent emotion, but after the tears have dried, she digs deep within herself and does what she needs to do. And there is so much she never writes about. I have been honored to have her as a friend for almost 6 years now, she cries to recover, to heal, to bleed the rage out...it's not "chick bullshit". Women may have a deeper connection to their hearts than men usually do, but what I know of her is, her heart gives her so much strength to survive. She would break weaklings like you with her love, you'd cover your eyes, and cower in fear of her mighty loving heart. Her tears would burn your flesh like holy water. So think twice before tossing her emotions off like they're nothing. fucking filmboy
from sassystarz :
Oh I know Aliens is a quadrilogy - its just that I dont like Alien 3, so I pretend it doesnt exist! I watch Alien, Aliens, then Alien Resurrection. See? A trilogy! :o) As far as being cheesy, well Ive been told that so many times, I guess I just started believing it. Doesnt matter though, I still watch and enjoy them. My job...hmmm, I guess you could say I was in the right place at the right time and landed a decent job for someone who was stupid and didnt go to college. I was just so sick of school, couldnt see myself going on. But yeah, I get to play boss now. Thanks for your note, it means a lot.
from sassystarz :
Happy Easter Nick! I hope you and your family have a safe and happy holiday!
from sassystarz :
With the parents return I hope life is back to a normal "good" and NOT bad! Dont you worry about those nasty ass girls from the office youre too good for them anyway! :o)
from sassystarz :
Your true friends will never turn their backs on you, or leave you for someone else. You are very likeable and just as important as any one of your friends. Remember that Batman wouldnt have made it so big without his trusty sidekick Robin!
from sassystarz :
Did you try my idea? Did it work? huh huh huh? Come on, you've got to tell me!
from sassystarz :
Maybe you should STOP answering the phone and STOP responding to text messages and enjoy some quiet time without friends around (excluding your diaryland friends of course. :o) Your alone time will be over before you know it. You could also try accidentally dropping your book by the secretaries, opening up an opportunity for conversation. Grab their attention, and they will be all yours!

from sassystarz :
Nick Nick Nick.....I need an update!
from tele--vision :
you are not "generation x" -- unless you're in your 30's. i understand the error, but i assure you the term has nothing to do with age, and everything to do with the year you were born.
from under-shadow :
hey, i found your diary... somewhere, and have to say- it's brilliant! first of all, i thought it was only me and two of my friends who had heard of bruce campbell, and secondly- you have some great extras, like the top 5s things. i read about a quarter of them, then my eyes started to ache, so i had to stop. but i have to agree- justin timberlake seriously needs to be punched in the face, and nelly's golden teeth? not a turn on. and yay! guys DO like jennifer garner and jessica alba! i'm a girl, but i reckon they are some of the best, underrated actresses, and pretty women on the planet, even if daredevil did suck. i have a suggestion for movie deaths- personally, i thought that in return of the king when (i think his name is:) denathor (?) runs off the cliff on fire. totally cool in my oppinion. anyway, i do believe i've written a mini essay of crap, so toodles for now! ~Jess x
from sassystarz :
Its just sad that you have to deal with so much shit...ALL the time. Hey! You forgot about the gym chick update! :)

from sassystarz :
I understand. Whats going on with the gym chick? Havent heard about her lately. Thanks for the Rings review...I cant wait to see it!

from christa02 :
Hey thanks for your note. :) Sorry I can't reply in your guestbook, for some reason mine is not working. Yeah well the thing about my thing for Brian is that it just not normal for a girl my age, I should be married by now but with the way i am, no guys will like me anyway. Not even Rodney, he fucked off with Dora b/c she's better than me and was born normal. And secondly people tease me about liking Brian too much, calling me that "depressed chick that likes Placebo'. there you go. christaxx

from christa02 :
hey well i love donnie darko, the first time i watched it it did freak me out a bit but there are some funny bits in it..like did i tell u that a few weeks ago i went into HMV and they were playing it on their big screen and it was the bit where he had a fight with the teacher about the lifetime excercise thing and he got into trouble and the teacher goes to his parents "He told me to insert the textbook into my anus!!" lol. overall it is a good movie. No i haven't seen Adaptaion. :(
from christa02 :
yeah you're right about rules of attraction (the dvd) being too pricey at hmv. Mum was fed up with my whinging about dvds being too pricey that she bourght it for me at kmart. Have to pay her back though. oh well...
from christa02 :
sorry about that. i'm just sick of being hassled. I'm too scared to see a doctor anyway and i can't get a new job b/c of my disabilty. I think rules of attraction is out this friday. i'm gonna check hmv this friday if they have it.
from christa02 :
stop lecturing me ok? you're as worse as Sandra calling me a loner. If you think i need to see a fucking doctor, go and find one for me.

from christa02 :
i don't know about talking to this guy i like, b/c with the way i am i am not normal and he won't like me anyway. I've just been depressed b/c i feel like everyone is hassling me or talking behind my back and i feel very lonely as well.
from christa02 :
i'm very depressed at the moment, i thourght i'd let you know that.
from dietcokegirl :
Okay, I forgot to tell you and gbook's don't let you sign again so quickly.. I work for footlocker.com and all of the subsequent companies they own in their customer service center doing a variety of things (I talk on the phone for a living) .. and how come you take corespondance instead of going to actual college?
from christa02 :
i dunno if you have read my new entry for today, but i like a guy at work, he's new and i am quite worried about it. :(
from christa02 :
thanks foryour message. i don't know about meeting new ppl. i've only started to make the effort to get over my ex friend but i just feel lonely and i don't get on with anyone close to my age.
from lalana :
Ah-nold gives every European boy who steps into a gym false hope? Golden. I ran across your diary, have only read an entry or two, but that comment alone sold me. Plus, I think you may the only other person on the planet who doesn't like Julia Roberts. Sorry about the all-boys school, sounds...rough? How old are you? (Sorry not clear where "Generation X" begins and ends.)
from christa02 :
i have no idea why some of less than zero is written in italics. i should read it again.
from christa02 :
i'm not sure what my disabilty is. Mum says i have autisim. i haven't had a "pyscholiogical assesment" to find what i have. I wish i was normal, maybe i could have better friends. Yeah i say hi to some ppl but it still does not make anything better.
from christa02 :
that's ok. i've been really depressed this week mainly b/c i can't go to the placebo concert in july and everyone is pissing me off. yeah i do feel confident sometimes but never have belong anywhere. b/c of my so called 'disabilty" i never really fit in anywhere. that's why i want to be normal. but of course when is that going to happen? you say i deserve happiness blah blah...but it never happens! and when it does happen something goes wrong anyway.
from christa02 :
ok i will tell you why my parents are so strict, i have a disabilty ok? that's why i keep losing friends, i'm too scared to try things, don't even have a boyfriend and can't go out at night. there. you know the real truth about me. i don't think i will go to tafe, i went a few years ago to make a fresh start. it didn't really help. oh well you get that.
from christa02 :
hey...i hope you didn't mind me leaving the note in your gb yesterday, as i said i had difficulty logging in. :(
from modernista :

i'm sorry for screaming at you. i wish things would change. :(
from christa02 :
look i really don't think i can handle living with someone i don't know, or by myself, SO PLEASE stop giving me lectures ok? you think it's so easy just to move out of home and change your life, well it's too hard for me ok? Yes I am lonely..but whatever i have tried to be more social just never works ok. cya
from prostituee :
I hate being cut open. I sympathize with you and your pain man. Get better.
from christa02 :
if i lived with another person, it would be even worse b/c i am too difficult and quiet. i know i need independence..i've been trying to get the courage to talk to mum to let me have a bit more freedom, but she never takes me seriously. last time i tried to talk to her i couldn't b/c i got scared and suddendly felt sick in the stomach, si i forgot all about it. Yeah less than zero is great, the book i mean not the movie. lol. cya
from christa02 :
yeah you're right about that, i wouldn't cope with moving out b/c i will be more alone than i already am. :( i don't have much money either..hey have u seen the movie of Less than Zero? i finaly saw it the other day. it didn't relate much to the book or maybe i was expecting too much? lol. cya
from christa02 :
i don't think l'll move out of home b/c i doubt i will cope living on my own.
from christa02 :
hey, thanks for your note. :) I thourght James van der beek's role of sean bateman was pretty good. He really pulled it off. lol. um, whereabouts in australia do i live? melbourne, and i work at a call centre and also as a volunteer at an environmental campaign place. yeah i'm always sad aren't i? but hey, you get that. cya.
from christa02 :
hehe...thanks for your note, umm, i'm not REALLY the female Sean Bateman i guess i was making a refernce to one of my older enteries in another diary site when i said i thourght i was the female sean bateman after exploding everytime something bad happens. the only things i don't do that he does is fuck and snort coke. lol. take care. :)
from christa02 :
er..thanks for putting me on yr faves list. :) tehe. take care

from scorcher123 :
heyy, im not sure why im leaving you this note. i just had an urge after reading a bit of your diary i suppose all i wanted to say was...well i dont really know. i want to say i know how you feel, but chances are i dont. lately ive been feeling like a hermit, just dont want to talk to anyone. ive been staying up till 4 or 5 like you, and its just nice to be by myself. when im invited places, just dont really feel like going. i dont know if that's strange or not, but that's what im trying to say, this generally "antisocial, lack of interest" thing... like you want to talk to people, but the more you do, the more you realise it was a pertty dumb idea. im sorry if i bothered you, but like i said, i just had an urge to say that to you, for what its worth
from modernista :
hey nick. i'm trying this email address to see if it works. i hope it does. i'll know if i get a response from you. i work at (don't cringe) the blood bank. i'm a nurse there. i'm old. twentyfive. and about the kings, i just bought a house very close to arco arena. although i like them a lot, i can't bear to watch any of their games cause i seriously am not too happy about the crowds. that walker guy from the lakers had a shot that didn't beat the buzzer and they counted it so hopefully they come to a resolution regarding things like that and shaq stepping over the line everytime he makes a free throw shot. i have a very good friend who tries to talk like sean bateman in american psycho. he has a livejournal and he tries to describe his day in the same way sean goes through his morning ritual. the funny thing is i dated this boy named nick (what a coincidence!) and huey lewis was gonna be in town and i didn't know if he was kidding or not when he said he wanted to see them and all i could think about was christian bale hitting jared leto with an axe. willem defoe wasn't as scary in american psycho as he was in spiderman. so movieboy is your name cause you like movies? i haven't seen empire in the sun but i promise i'll rent it next weekend. i work saturday and sunday this weekend and i have to meet with a lender sunday after work and of course i have homework due friday night and monday night and i barely have time to breathe it seems! about heath ledger and accents. first of all, 10 things i hate about you has got to me one of my favorite teeny bopper movies. and although he's got long mangly hair there, his character was great. and i do love his accent and his new hairstyle in four feathers is enough reason for me to see such a dreadful movie. i personally don't have a knack for war movies. besides, i'm an anglophile so the whole australian accent is close enough to satisfy me. i like reading so i've read more books that have turned into movies. mostly jane austen novels. american psycho. i've seen high fidelity before i've read the book. i liked the book better. tell me all about you! a. PS i tried to mail you thru diaryland but it didn't work. so you can email me here: [email protected]
from modernista :
dear nick. i am quite alright. really tired from work though. how about you? where do i begin. the kings rock! i swear if we didn't mess up the last few games during the finals we would've beat those lousy lakers. but we're gonna do a whole lot better this year. i ran into bobby jackson at a restaurant a few months ago and i have his autograph! anyway, american psycho is a clever book. i was drawn to it because it was set in the 80's. i'm not that old but there's just something about the 80's that i like. but i definitely don't like those big hair metal bands or the cheesy fashion stuff. it really sucks that they made american psycho 2 on video. it should never have a sequel unless he came out with another novel. if we lived in the same country i would let you borrow my books. although i don't have less than zero. i thought christian bale was perfect for american psycho. that had a great cast. the only thing with the rules of attraction is that it has dawson leary in it (aka james van der beek). the cast is sorta teeny boppyish, except for the guy who plays paul (i love him). i swear almost everyone in the movie has a tv show on the wb network. if you watch less than zero, tell me how it is. i think his characters intertwine in all the novels. lauren and victor are also in glamorama. i'm such a dork that i get so excited when the books i've read end up in movies. like how i watched almost all the movies based on jane austen's novels before. anyway, maybe we can do email next time. it's less complicated than diaryland notes! i've read your last entry and i'll save my comments for later =P. p.s. is heath ledger from australia? --> abie
from modernista :
hey! I almost forgot I have diaryland. I had to reacquaint myself as to who you are. But I'm so excited about The Rules of Attraction. I first came across it as a preview on some movie I rented on dvd. I'd have to say that would be my fave novel by Bret Easton Ellis. I highly recommend buying the book and reading it before watching the movie. If time permits, I'll reread it before watching the movie for better comparison. I've read almost all of his works, I'm in the last leg of Glamorama. They also have Less Than Zero on video at blockbuster. I'm not sure what video stores you have in Australia but hopefully you can watch it. I haven't seen it yet. Anyway, did you change your profile? I could've sworn there was more to it than that. Hope things are good. --> Abie
from modernista :
so i came across your profile thru bret easton ellis.. the weird thing is, i thought for a brief moment you're someone i know.. cause your name is nick (i guess) and you like pink floyd, led zeppelin and radiohead.. but you're not from my town and i just figured the nick i know won't even be capable of figuring the whole diaryland thing out..
from devotee :
Sorry about taking so long to get back to you. I've been neglecting my diary, too. I thought summer would give me tons of time to write every day, but that's not the case. Anyway, enough about me. You're looking for advice, and while I don't have anything GENIUS to say, I might as well give my two cents. I wouldn't try to play Cupid with Larry and Sarah. If you do and it works out for both of them, you'll just feel much more lonely and neglected than ever. I know the feeling. It may feel at first that you're doing a good thing, but it will only hurt you in the long run. Right now since Sarah is your closest friend, if she becomes interested in Larry, she might spend less time talking to you. If that happens then you're going to feel awful. I had that happen to me a while ago. It's the worst thing in the world to completely count on one friend and then have them shrug you off because they're hanging out with someone else. I'd not give up hope on this other girl. If things go well between you two and you still think Sarah and Larry would be great together, then you should play Cupid. Just make sure you have a friend to fall back on if you hook them up. Anyway, my thoughts are pretty disjointed (as usual) but I hope my opinion helped a little. I love reading your diary and I feel exactly like you do. Also, a couple of years ago, my closest friend was this girl named Rachel. I had a crush on her for a while, but it stopped and then I realized she would be perfect with one of my other friends. I found out they both wanted to be together, so I hooked them up. As soon as she started dating him, she never talked to me again. She suddenly didn't need me anymore. That hurt a lot. I'm not saying that that's going to happen to you (I've since realized that Rachel was quite the selfish bitch) I know that pain and it's not fun.
from yelloweye :
hi... stumbled across your diary... kind of strange since my name's sarah and i have a... not a friend... but someone... called nick who screwed me over so yeah. but i haven't really read all your archive yet so i dont know whether sarah's screwed you over, but it sounds like you're having issues, or something, something. and yeah, movies are cool. i make movies. or will. once i finish my degree. yeah. so i guess i'm a film student. blah, blah, ummm, you write well. i have the thoughts you do. catch you later.

I just read all your entries. I was in a very similar position for a couple years ago. My only friend in the world was this girl I was in love with. She would constantly talk to me about how hot she thought other people were or how she was having sex with people she met off the streets. I hated it. One time she actually said to me: "It's hard to not start having sex if you're friends with someone of the opposite sex for a while." It wasn't very fucking hard for her to do it to me. I gave her so much love and support. After she found a boyfriend, she pretended like we had never been friends and never talked to me again. It hurt more than anything. But now I realize that she wasn't perfect at all. She was a fucking selfish bitch. It also made me realize that if I ever was in that situation before, I would ask the girl out. And while it hasn't worked out yet, it has managed to boost my self-confidence a tiny bit. Tell your friend what you're feeling. Although I don't know...I open up too much to people. Anyway, good music to listen to while you're depressed is Lou Reed's Berlin (most depressing album ever) and Nick Cave's From Her To Eternity (great mix of depressing and aggressive). Cheers.
from devotee :
Hey, I'm also the horror movie review guy. I just noticed you listed my site as one of your favorite diaries. Thanks. I kinda lost interest in all my hobbies because of severe depression so I haven't reviewed anything in a really long time. I took the time to read your newest entry and decided we have a lot in common (close age, bad problems with girls, being used too much). Check out my new diary. Thanks again. Love your diary. If you want, e-mail me at [email protected]. You seem like a really cool and interesting guy. Evan.
from meem :
hey man where have ya been?! you havent written anything for like 7 days or something like that. whats going on? anyways whatever just email me back or something my email addy is [email protected] or my msn email is [email protected] which ever one floats your boat :) bye bye m'dear. love, Maralle
from meem :
i think you should tell her how you feel to her face. i dont think its fair what shes doing to you because, best friends don't use eachother. y'know? well whatever, this is your choice in the matter do what you feel is right to you. :) your welcome (for reading) love, Maralle
from meem :
dude, i'm gonna be writing you notes all the time. first of all people never EVER take the time to realize all the good things people have done for them. Because, they like the drama. Fuck drama! The thing with your best friend I went through the same thing with my best friend. We had nothing to talk about and we both acknowledged that. So we stopped talking, and I thought alright we wont ever be the same again. But, that all changed and now we're close. Maybe both of you have changed and thats alright. Thats the purpose of having a best friend because, you change, you grow, your awareness grows, but sooner or later you get even closer with your best friend. Thats the beauty of having a best friend. Suck it up, do something for yourself for a change! love, Maralle p.s. i'm going to thank you for writing everything you write in your diary so there! thank you!
from meem :
omg you sound exactly like me with the whole movie thing hah! i have MSN as well so if you'd like to talk to me go on ahead. my email addy for that is [email protected] talk to me, i'll listen...trust me. And we can talk about movies as well! haha. yes well i'm a loser okie i put you under as one of my favorite diaries ill talk to you later bye byes. love, Maralle
from meem :
You sound a lot like me, you should stop doing things for other people. You have to live life for yourself sometimes, its not a selfish thing to do. You have to make yourself happy for first then start loving other people and whatnot. If you ever need to talk to someone, yell, kick, whatever i have a sn for AIM its scplumfairy. Its like 1:30 in the morning now but who cares lol bye. love&peace, maralle p.s. you are NOT a pathetic loser.
from meem :
aw thanks yes pink floyd is wonderful! im gonna read more of your entries as well :) the doors are also very nice. i was just listening to the song Love Street. bye hon!
from meem :
yeah, i watch a lot of movies as well lol. Like I couldn't even list them all haha. I love Pink Floyd your so right about their lyrics. I'm listening to Dark Side of The Moon right now. The two songs on that album that really gives you a message is the song "Time" and "Money". Also the song "Echoes" is wonderful! Sorry lol if you'd like you can read some of my entries and comment. Bye bye! Love&Peace, Maralle
