I will miss your meanderings a lot! Take care! And maybe I'll write to you. Hopefully you don't see that as a threat ;)
from bebelua :
well bummer. you were literally the last person left on my buddy list who updates here. guess i can remove dland from my bookmarks now. wow, the end of an era. :( anyway, best of luck. i'll miss reading you.
from mrbradley :
stepfordtart: I'll chalk it up to... "Mr. Bradley: Trendsetter!" :p misfitstray: Aww. Thanks. :-D
from misfitstray :
you don't seem to me, to be a human being who is not likable! So far, I like you and what you write very much.
from stepfordtart :
When I was walking back from town today, an old man shouted something to me from his front doorstep. I couldnt hear what he said so I stopped and yelled back "Excuse Me?" and he yelled back "I said 'I LIKE YOUR HAIR'". He must've been reading your diary as I'd never seen him before in my life! s x
from bebelua :
there's a feature that lets you make posts private on an individual level. i can't remember what it's called, or if you have to be a gold member to use it (probably). but anyway, just thought i'd mention it. i sure wish diaryland's support wasn't so...oh, i don't know....completely nonexistent? otherwise, i'd suggest asking them about it...
from bebelua :
i'm a big fan of this concept for piggy banks: http://www.uncommongoods.com/item/item.jsp?itemId=19223 (of course, after i bought it, i'd have nothing left to put in it. $50 is ridiculous)
from stepfordtart :
I had How Great Thou Art at my (2nd)wedding. Its one of my favourites, but you do need a half decent soprano voice in the congregation to make it sound any good! Thanks for reminding me of my wedding day. s x
from bebelua :
I've been laptop-only for many, many years, and I can't stand trackpads. You can just plug a mouse (or in my case, a trackball), right into the USB port on the laptop and you're good to go. They even have mini mice that are easier to carry around with laptops. Or you could just get an iPad and then you only need your finger. :)
from bebelua :
i'm so sorry. but i'm glad that he was so loved in his lifetime and that you will all carry him in your hearts. warm thoughts to you and your family. xo, b.
from bibles :
I'm so sorry to hear about your grandfather. RIP
from bebelua :
the biggest gift i got through all of my dad's illness was the day and a half he was at the hospice home. prior to that he was in the hospital and he was suffering so badly. he cried to me on the phone every day, saying i didn't love him because if i did, i'd get him out of there. he fought the nurses and had to be restrained at night. he tore his own feeding tube out and tried to leave the hospital even though he could barely stand. once we got him to hospice, his his mood shifted dramatically and i am just so incredibly grateful that my last conversation with him was one where he sounded joyous and kept telling me how wonderful everything was. I'll never forget him saying "you have no idea how gorgeous it is here! there's a garden right out my window and everyone is so nice. this is like a luxury hotel!" he was finally happy and could rest, and he died the next day. i never got a chance to visit him there, but when i flew out for his funeral, i went to the hospice home and thanked everyone i could find. i didn't realize it before that experience, but the place a person dies can be so important. i sat in the room that had been his (thankfully it was empty when i visited), and i thought about the fact that all of his life had been leading up to that room, and that is the last window he looked out of. the little boy that had been born in new york and shipped off to viet nam, travelled across europe and asia and australia and south america, then crossed the united states in a vw bus before settling down to be a hippie in northern california....it was all leading to that room. that window. that bed. in a small hospice home in western florida. and the people there were so kind to him, and to me. i am so incredibly thankful for them. the thought of him dying alone in a hospital room, miserable and scared....i don't know if i could have borne that. sorry. guess i had a lot to say about this. who knew? anyway, sending my love to you and your family. i'm glad your grandfather has hospice.
from bebelua :
maybe some people want to wear stuff out of the store? otherwise, yeah. can't imagine why in the world you wouldn't want a garment bag. that's just silly.
from sallyallen :
Jesus doesn't forgive anybody who doesn't ask for forgiveness, and he doesn't require more from us. He said that if your brother sins against you, rebuke him, and IF he repents, forgive him. The Christian heart always stands ready to forgive, but technically they are denied that opportunity if the person doesn't seek forgiveness.
from mrbilly :
My brother loved "Two Princes" when it came out. I remember he had the cassette single. I think he's still got it!
from misfitstray :
please, don't leave DL.
from alienamiss :
Wow -- 10 years? Impressive. I've been ongoing, two journals (one over with, the other just beginning) for about 5 years. I started mine in high school. Woo.. 5 years. Seems a while; 10 seems so much more!
from stellarrobot :
I too am worried, that one day, maybe, DL will be kaput. Which is kind of silly considering how many years it has been an old faithful, secure and always there...nevertheless, back up copies are being made.
from bebelua :
happy birthday, you! hope you did something wonderful to celebrate. :)
from mrbilly :
Baby Baby is the best song ever written. Except for maybe All I Want for Christmas Is You.
from mrbilly :
I thought your Valentine's entry was going to be a replica of what happened to Ralph Wiggum in The Simpsons. "I choo-choo-choose you?"
from misfitstray :
nowadays people get more and more selfish. They don't think about consequences or even don't care. Sad!!
from soul-bride :
I think the bouncer & pouncer entry was excellent, and I think it ended with a great point, I couldn't probably explain what I got out of in a way that somebody other than me would get, but I felt the dogs were like an old couple. but they were dogs, but it goes to show you don't have to be human to love, or something anyway, lol. Have a great day :)
from sallyallen :
Yes... you should be embarrassed. ;) We were a Nielson family once, by the way. xx
from sallyallen :
Happy Anniversary! I know Big Words means very much to you, which is evident in the great care and attention you provide him every day. He is extremely blessed to have you. :) xx
from taken-by-you :
A friend told me once that she would "have conversations" with characters. Throughout the day, she would just imagine speaking to them, and let their stories unfold. I suppose it would take time, but it seemed effective. Of course, it sounds mostly crazy - but I think most writers are vivid daydreamers, so it shouldn't come across too wrong.
from taken-by-you :
Have you tried just writing out the scenes/dialogues separately as they come to you, then finding ways to link them together into a comprehensive timeline/story? Sometimes that helps, I'm told.
from misfitstray :
I only know U-Boot, that's the german word for submarine, but Ugh-Boot, never heard of that
from sallyallen :
Well, fer cryin' out loud, how many more emails do I have to write before I beat the spam?! xx
from misfitstray :
Could I get the recipe, please? Or is it a family secret?
from mrbilly :
I have to hand it to you - your diary's facelift is brilliant. Good job!
from sallyallen :
I'm your BEST friend. And you know it.
from playinghouse :
HI there, so happy I found your blog. It's very engaging. Have a great day
from sallyallen :
Believe it or not, I do know what a cassette tape is. ;p I'm not familiar with the artists you mentioned, though. Mom just informed me that my grandmother was in a Chubby Checker movie... well, her foot was at least. xx
from misfitstray :
I love your "resolution". Mine is nearly the same. I trust in God.
from daily-prose :
So, I figured since I just read several of your entries all at once, and I will most definitely add you to my favorites list here shortly, I thought I should say hello so you're not wondering what strange person is upping your page views. So, hello! And? I hope you excuse my dorky, "drive-by" compliment, but I really do enjoy your writing and I look forward to reading more.
from mrbilly :
Enjoy your vacation! The last day of work before a holiday is the best... when you walk out the office, it's like a dark cloud's been lifted from above.
from sallyallen :
Wait a minute. You mean to tell me you're showing DOG videos on the Internet?! ;p
from bebelua :
i have that obscure compilation album! i haven't thought about it in years. it pretty much sucked.
from fifidellabon :
Hello! Oh, look, you know Swimmmy! Well, I just adored your entry about your grandfather and the good old days. I love hearing about them as well. It was a lovely entry and thank you for it! /Fifi
from swimmmer72 :
re: #4. You should try west of Missouri sometime. Better yet, go west of Denver to anywhere the other side of the Rockies. You'll see a different world. I think you might like it! :)
from mrbilly :
Okay just catching up on some entries. The lip balm addiction is real, and I used to be addicted to chapstick for years. From about age 11 to 21 I used it constantly throughout the day. I was also addicted to caffeine back then (used to take Pro Plus daily). Heh. Most kids smoke and drink, I pop legal caffeine pills and protect my lips. Out of interest, is the 'just a little green' title from the Joni Mitchell song? I love that song.
from mrbilly :
Wow I love your new layout... love the colour. I love bright colours.
from misfitstray :
lucky you, that songs stick in your head. I never have songs in my head or hum any... I love listen to music and have lots of CDs, but none of them stays in my brain. I'd wish - so...
from ohliviahhh :
And you can cook? I'm not just amused, but genuinely impressed.
from sallyallen :
That is, like, the most awesome entry ever! *claps hands* Tell me more! ;) xx
from misfitstray :
Awwww. That sounds very beautiful no matter how fairytale-like it sounds or not. I guess you'll live in Sweden then as Inga and Sven sounds so very swedish.
from sallyallen :
Lol! No, not girly... endearing. ;) xx
from misfitstray :
Admirable, your grandparents! I wished I would be able to feel that kind of love for someone too and make it stay for that long time. It seems that I'm unable ...
from swimmmer72 :
Ivanka Watkin, from "Town Pants". I took this picture at the Great Blue Heron Music Festival in Sherman, NY.
from misfitstray :
thank you :)
from misfitstray :
I liked your entry about honesty so very much and it is SO true. I always try to be honest but sometimes my mind overrules and proud is taking over... I try to avoid that, but - I'm only human... *sigh*
from misfitstray :
As that is your diary, you should write in and about everything what YOU want and not what your readers might want! Don't think of others, but of you.
from sallyallen :
I'm never gonna live down that video, am I? ;) x
from sallyallen :
Haha! Love it! xx
from misfitstray :
very irresponsible by the owner of the dog! I hated those too when I walked with mine. Sometimes the owner was with them too and he didn't care or placated the action of that dog. How I hated that. My dog had to be on a leash most times as she was a passionated huntress. (at least in those part where we walked through forrests what we did mostly)
from sallyallen :
Wow, that's a blast from the past! Will and I used to watch "Animaniacs" when we were little. I vaguely remember "Chicken Boo," but "Pinky and The Brain" I remember like it was yesterday. So funny. x
from misfitstray :
you are not lame at all!
from sallyallen :
I'm awfully sorry you got scraped up. However, I do find it quite endearing that you have "races" with Big Words. :) x
from sallyallen :
It's wonderful that you were able to have such close, quality time with your grandmother. My grandmother has never been the "grandmotherly" type in terms of baking and homemaking, but she's loads of fun and always the life of the party. She's like a spunky little mouse! I know my brother Will will always cherish this time caring for her, as will I. x
from misfitstray :
Grandparents are great! Glad that you loved and appreciated yours so much. I had a lovely grandma myself and she was brilliant in cooking too. I miss her so much.
from sallyallen :
I've never understood the enormous popularity of Miss Cyrus. It seems as if she came out of nowhere, and now her face is plastered on every book bag and lunch box as far as the eye can see! I don't know, I guess I'm just not "hip" enough to understand. x
from stellarrobot :
I'm all for political rantings. Go for gold.
from sallyallen :
I felt unethical using my brother's account, so I signed up, and presto... I'm a Diarylander! Sarah Grace x
from caker :
The Petra video was hilarious, my friend. I liked the song, though. I'm not familiar with Petra because oddly enough, even though I'm a Christian, I've never been a big fan of Christian music. I just have a small smattering of favorite Christian songs. My mom has some old Petra tapes (not 8-track, ha ha) and I'm going to check them out. Sarah Grace x
from realthoughts :
Hi - I stumbled on your diary this evening (just decided to start clicking on the "recent public entries" links). I read a bunch of your entries here and there. It's pretty cool that you've been part of diaryland for years and years too - I feel like this place has become a different kind of community since its heyday several years back...and I guess it's nice to find other old souls who've stuck around...
from stellarrobot :
Bette Midler is like, a love guru.
from stellarrobot :
"Fat little kids". So mean, so funny.
from stellarrobot :
Value #1: Eating left-overs is the new black.
from stellarrobot :
Thats sucks about your job. I recently took a massive pay cut. Isn't it unbelievable that we are just thankful to have jobs? This sounds weird, but I think this working generation(/s) are going to learn some old-fashioned values from the GEC.
from mrbilly :
Oh and PS, can you add previous and next links to your diary? You update quite often so I always miss some. =)
from mrbilly :
Wow, my name in lights, I feel honoured!! You deffo should do a V-log. It's kind of... liberating, in a way. And hey if Mr "Hit every branch in the ugly tree on the way down" Billy can do it, anyone can!!
from mrbradley :
You're welcome. I stumbled over to your LJ from Mr.Billy's, then when you left a note put two and two together. :)
from caker :
Oh my gosh! How did you know I had an LJ? Your post brought tears to my eyes, I felt so blessed and honored! And to think I thought you were mad at me because I called you a chicken. Sarah Grace x
from misfitstray :
Scarlett is a very beautiful woman! And I look forward to the next Iron Man movie. I think Mr. Downey Jr. made an ok job.
from caker :
This is actually "caker's" sister, Sarah Grace. Please do a video entry! Chicken if ya don't!
from stellarrobot :
Hold onto your panties: I don't work for WB. But re: Superman and the triangle dynamic. It really poses some interesting and universal issues about love. Lois digs SM but disses CK, when they are one and the same. So what is her affection really but an empty shell that collapses within itself. What is love really???
from misfitstray :
I love Superman! And no matter what everybody else is saying I loved Superman returns a lot. It was a quite melancholy Superman. It wasn't bad at all! I still hope that there will be another movie coming soon.
from misfitstray :
thank you :)
from misfitstray :
Wonderful words. Thank you for that! You are a lucky man, that you had such a wonderful Father.
from mrbradley :
Good point.
from bebelua :
i actually think the advice they give might be worse than the actual letter. i mean, seriously. "try to think bad thoughts whenever you're aroused by your daughter and then get into MARRIAGE counseling"??? What about: "Get into individual counseling to deal with your sexual attraction to your own daughter. NOW. Do not pass Go, do not collect $200!!"? Sheesh.
from misfitstray :
so, what's yours?
from bebelua :
my greatest wish is to finally be part of a family.
from misfitstray :
that is a really difficult question. The superficial part in me cried out loud and said, yeah, win the Lotto-Jackpot the other part in me just wants to be healthy and live in peace. Maybe the word contentedness is a better descreption of my biggest wish.
from misfitstray :
I admire you, doing this BB/BS.
from misfitstray :
so cute! :)
from bebelua :
ugh. so sorry to hear it. what line of work are you in?
from raschel :
hm, I guess people don't think anymore
from bebelua :
hooray for good days! and seriously, walking with your pup AND a pretty girl? doesn't get much better than that.
from bebelua :
i LOVE that clip. I saw it a few days ago and forwarded it to everyone i know. Seriously, so good. and funny. (I still hate flying, though).
from mrbilly :
Snoop is one of my all time favourites, ever. I own, and love, every album he has ever made. But you're quite right, he was brilliant when his first CD came out. He's still good now... Drop It Like It's Hot is up there with Gin & Juice and the like.
from bebelua :
i love snoop, truly. but that sensual seduction video makes me laugh at him every time. oh well, i guess that still counts as entertainment, right?
from bebelua :
YAY for notes on your main page!! There's a small problem, though. You have it linked to "http://members.diaryland.com/edit/yournotes.phtml", which takes a person to THEIR OWN notes. You need to link it to "http://members.diaryland.com/edit/notes.phtml?user=mrbradley". I think that will solve the problem. And then we can all write you notes with a single click. Hooray for technology! ;) (Hope you're having an awesome weekend).
from bebelua :
that george washington dealie is one of my all time favorites! it never gets old. also, side note: you need to link your notes from the main page, or get some comment functionality or something. this whole having to leave your blog and go to your profile, then click to your notes page, is for the birds, man. :)
from mrbradley :
Ha! Awesome. :)
from bebelua :
http://lolinator.com/lol/mrbradley.diaryland.com/090208_50.html you're welcome. :)
from mrbilly :
Congratulations on the dog, he's really cute. What a cool name as well.
from misspinkkate :
Thank you!
from mrbilly :
2:40 before Boxy got to me. Seriously, what an idiot.
from bebelua :
well, i was able to watch all 4+ minutes of it. but i'm pretty sure i'm stupider for having done so. please tell me she's an actress doing a caricature. oy.
from mrbradley :
Well, if I'd had 102 entries, I could've added another leaving off the "on Mac" part. Darn the luck. Darn it all!
from mrbilly :
#92 I was like "what?" and then I read "for Mac".
from bebelua :
aww, thank you. it means a lot to know there are still folks who love me even though i am apparently inept at hand gestures. ;)
from mrbilly :
Ah, a fellow Mac user. You just keep getting better. I love how you're not actually a teenage schoolgirl as well. Classic.
from mrbilly :
Hi, it's outwalking. Thanks for checking out my diary and adding me to your list. My outwalking password doesn't work for some reason, and it won't e-mail it to me, so I have a new username. And I so didn't mean to copy your username... unless I did subconsciously? Whoa, deep. Anyway, if you still wanted to read me, mrbilly is where it's at.
