Hey there. I was reading your diary today, and I totally sympathize about the lackluster situation of meeting people in the dorms. Having lived in a filthy yet endearing slave pit of a dorm for my first two years of college I find the standard people-meeting frenzy folks get into king of lame. I don't see how having the same introductory conversaton twenty times will make me a more well-rounded and happy person. I guess that is because I have already defined myself, but I digress. Dorms are a difficult living adjustment, and though I am glad I did it, I am also glad to be living in a house with some old roommates and old friends.
I don't think that anyone prepares you enough for college. Though it seems shocking, you will be with a lot of the same lunkheads that you went to high school with. Yes there will be intellectuals and random interesting people, but they are only the teensiest bit more common. But I threaten to rant, so thanks for crystallizing dorm life. Take care and good luck.
