it kept being crappy to my guests. and as a southerner, i just couldn't have that. you know? :)
from divamel :
-munchmunch- Throw away Deluca's? Are you nuts????
from divamel :
whut???? swear ta god, it's true!!! i had the best intentions...
from divamel :
re: Praline Connections, I SWEAR I was going, I told you! I had the directions and everything! But as you can see from the travel log, I simply did not have the time on my hands that I thought I would. I even walked by the curio store version twice and lamented that i could not go!
from divamel :
-chuckles- Yer fergiven. Piers is not for everyone. :)
from freshhell :
Are you a fan of mysteries? I can suggest a number of good (living and dead) authors who (whom?) I love. Also - I'm a Southerner and say "y'all". My best friend spent most of her youth in E Lansing MI and I loved the "you guys" thing - it was so, I don't know, gender neutral or something. Not stupid sounding like everything that comes out of a Southerner's mouth sounds.
from dragprincess :
"Kleiner kinder nicht verstahen." My great-grandmother used to say it. Translated, it means: Little children won't die from it. Helpful when someone is screaming at you for something that really isn't that big of a deal.
from freshhell :
Hey, if you're in the Atlanta airport on 4/6, let me know. Dusty and I will be there awaiting our connecting flight to Sacramento.
from purplebanana :
In London, ironically, sometimes I wish I could shock people a little bit more. No one bats an eyelid when they find out I'm gay - it's a big culture change after what I was used to in America.
from freshhell :
Be glad you don't live in Virginia. You'd think they'd have something better to do then worry about "gay people" but, no, it's an obsession, a fixation. The Gen Assembly loves nothing better than to find ways to make homosexuals' (etc) lives even harder than they already are.
from dragprincess :
When I talk to God, She always hears about Barbara and her boys.
from purplebanana :
It feels messy and funny to put everything all into one diary, but it is a complete coming-out-of-the-closet experience. You are more than the sum of your diaries!!!
from freshhell :
Ah, see? I'm a moron. I'll check out the LJ journal as well.
from freshhell :
Well, I feel left out of the party. I didn't know you had a LJ journal (is that redundant?) as well. Did I somehow miss the link? I'm not very observant these days.
from freshhell :
We've done the hotel route before and, since my husband has a disorder involving noise, we finally gave up. No room was noise-proof enough. And, yeah, the sharing of a room presents difficulties. We've really liked the little house we found (oceanfront!) in Sandbridge - down the road from Va Beach - but the in-season rates are hideous. I'm looking at one sad, lonely little house a block off oceanfront. If I can save the dough. Money, man. It sucks not to have any.
from freshhell :
Thank you, my dear. I was gonna write a whole diatribe - in your honor - entry and then, damn, I got back in the office and people want shit from me. What do I look like, their dancing monkey? Oh, yeah, I guess I am. Crank up that organ!
from freshhell :
Ah, yes, well, I normally write one or two entries per week. Right now, I have a lot to say and no time to say it. New Pres starting 2/1, boss resigning 1/31, and research up the wazoo. Plus, no time in the evening to play on the computer. So...I try to keep my fans happy but, you know how it goes.
from freshhell :
Right back at you! Here's your note. Your turn!
from gnomad :
I'm gonna be nice and say I was surprised at the amount of anti-male sentiment expressed here after reading a piece of fiction. Ouch. I'll just be going now. Hope you find a book that suits you better.
from persimmmon :
Ha, you just gave me a huge much needed laugh this morning with the acknowledgement of my literary snobbiness- but I understand about the audiobooks- I am listening to the Lemony Snicket series on my drive, and I'm loving them.
from persimmmon :
I live in Baltimore, hon. Did you ever get the email where I sent you my resume a few weeks back to help revise?
from freshhell :
I work at Randolph-Macon College. Before that, University of Richmond and Red Cross. My very best friend and her partner adopted two girls from China. She alone adopted the first and her partner adopted the second. If they ever split up - they get custody of the child they adopted but would never legally have rights to see the other. So, your diary really interested me - the similarities. Glad to find another kindred (and yes, readable) diary reader/writer!
from freshhell :
I hear you. I've worked in development all my career (i'm a prospect researcher) and stupidity does seem to reign in our field. I have perfected the Evil Stare of Doom to keep the morons at bay.
from persimmmon :
Diaryland has been on the way out forever! Everyone has a livejournal~including you! I stay here because I really don't care if I get read or not, but all my favorites with but a few exceptions closed up shop or moved on. I tried Livejournal during my hiatus, but just didn't like it. Diaryland feels much more like I'm writing in a private Diary.
from dragprincess :
honey, i am unlocked and OPEN. i decided, after nearly dying, that EVERYONE needs to know how fabulous i am and that they'll all be a little better off having me in their lives.
from pajamamama :
Barbara, your boys are BEAUTIFUL!!! I have never seen such handsome little guys! No wonder you're so proud! Thanks for sharing those pics!
from princessbug :
Hey! Your boys are adorable! Oh and I wanted to tell you that KatSlater is writing again. She's preggers, if you didn't know, and is sort of documenting it weekly.
from dragprincess :
honey! a shout-out AND a housewarming gift! i am touched. i think the massive amounts of meds have screwed with my memory, b/c i can't get into the Other Locked Site -- can you resend my name/password? i want to know what's up.
from persimmmon :
I've found that sometimes my inability to make a change comes from not yet having discovered the right change to make. Good luck.
from pajamamama :
Awesome - thank you! I'm printing that out right now! :)
from pajamamama :
Oh that stuffing sounds fantastic!! I would love to try that! Glad you had a good holiday. I could use some "detox soup" myself!
from gnomad :
Any time a kid -asks- you to take them to the library, ya just .. gotta. Congrats!
from persimmmon :
Thank goodness! I was sad and confused, and then I thought, well, Alissa, all you do lately is whine and kvetch, and who really needs to read that?
from princessbug :
Hey! I haven't been online much lately. I love your new (?) template! Well, it's new to me!
from starlight42 :
That license thing scared me at first. Good joke!
from dragprincess :
You are a nerd.
from persimmmon :
I think I fixed my notes page so it works this way too. Thanks for the idea.
from purplebanana :
No, I don't have it. I have osteoarthritis. I was tested for your type and another one starting with a 'p' that sounds like an 's'. I learned a bit about rheumatoid from my mom - a nurse and also really suffering from osteoarthritis but presenting as rheumetoid. How are you feeling?
from iluvleena :
that's so sad for those boys. I'm glad you took them this year.
from purplebanana :
As someone who's been recently tested for rhumetoid arthritis, I empathsize. And on a shallow note, I simply LOVE your design. LOVE IT.
from starlight42 :
sorry to hear about the diagnosis. Hmm, don't know too much about it either. I guess if it's not bothering you yet though, that's a good sign, right?
from poolagirl :
I just clicked your Where I Work link. Spiffy! Wonderful! What a fun job!
from seekingme :
Loved the pictures! You are such a cutie! Oh the 80's big hair oh my! Gotta love it.
from poolagirl :
I really LOVE the new template! The pictures are great too!
from persimmmon :
I just got your note. The dog is of completely unknown origin-she was a stray picked up by animal control that I got at my local humane society. Kind of like me. I looked online for dogs that look like her, to see what they were, and my best guess is that she is german shepherd and pit bull. She's very cool and a lot of fun.
from iluvleena :
i read through random journals throug out my work day and I clicked on yours and it seemed interesting.
from iluvleena :
I just read the one about Biscuit being in the hospital. My daughter was 6 months old and was very ill and we were at Children's hospital for about 4 days. She had an IV in her little hand and was out of it the whole time. it's heartbreaking when you see your baby in the hospital.
from pajamamama :
Hey you! LOL ~ Tom is the owner of MySpace and automatically becomes a "friend" when you join. You can delete him - just click on "edit friends". Have a good weekend!
from mcmenses :
What you wrote about Catholicism, your grief, all of it has touched me deeply. I think I'm going through the same sort of thing. Wow. This was timely and important for me to read. Thank you.
from pajamamama :
OMG, you poor thing! I cannot imagine something so awful and frightening! I hope he's doing better and continues to improve. Too scary!! Big (((HUGS)) for you and yours! ~Linda
from jaimielight :
TB!!! lol that is what i called tool belt woman lol tuberculosis :) lol i can't spell, but hey that is pretty funny :) Got to go sit and procrastinate... lol not for real.
from jaimielight :
hey i found out Jeremy Irons is not the evil king, he is Brom! This makes me happy, because he is a good guy, but sad, because he dies! Why must he die?! Brom seemed like an old man to me, Jeremy is quite young... hum... well i am excited nontheless :) lol Yeah Jeremy!
from seekingme :
I was sad to see Suzie go too. And at first I really couldn't stand J.D., but he's grown on me, I think that he would make a good addition to the band, providing he doesn't go back to his whining ways. lol
from jaimielight :
well i don't know what to say to that. I just type it in the diaryland box. Hum. Maybe something is coded different or something, i don't know it just seems odd to me.
from divamel :
smell you! yer famous! :)
from jaimielight :
Hey what's with all the question marks? I was quite upset about suzie too. They had a chat with her today on MSN at 2, i tried to log on, but it wouldn't let me for some reason :( I wanted to tell her we support her and that we would buy her cd when it came out. Alas, no such luck. Congrats on being quoted :) See you later.
from divamel :
YES! Come on down!
from ursamajor :
I, for one, LOVE the new template. Viva la pink!
from poolagirl :
I have real all of Margaret George's books - and they are all amazing!
from dragprincess :
MILF = Mother I'd Like (to) Fuck. Very hot.
from dragprincess :
daphne is pretty hot...but demi has that sexy MILF thing going on -- as do you!!
from poolagirl :
Yeah for Margaret George! YAY! I love her books! Have you read the "Memoirs of Cleopatra?"
from pajamamama :
For templates, try: http://pink-design.diaryland.com/templates.html There are tons of them!
from princessbug :
Turtles are cute, BUT, they tend to be quite stinky little creatures! One of the girls in my dorm in college had 2 and they smelled all the time, and she kept them really clean!
from hothead :
http://members.diaryland.com/edit/download.phtml. happy downloading!
from hothead :
just so you know, there IS a way to save all entries, but it might just be for gold members. just a thought, and hope you got a nap. love!
from divamel :
yay new job! yay new job! yay! yay! yay! I earn good new job karma celebrating yours! HOW WAS THE CONCERT???????
from ursamajor :
Nope - wasn't me at the Eminem concert. But next time you make it to Detroit, drop me a line and we can grab a cup of joe!
from dragprincess :
boy, you are one smart cookie.
from jaimielight :
why would it be weird? You are family... I went to the ren faire last weekend, but it continues every weekend in july. So we could go this weekend, but it doesn't look like i am going to be able t drive as soon as planned :( *sigh*
from jaimielight :
Hey are you going to Stacy's wedding since you are going to be down here? I want to show you my cool ren faire dress, maybe we could even go together, if you are still here. I think you would like it :)
from persimmmon :
You complain about us not writing when you go so long between updates? Bah.
from divamel :
we actually stopped watching the game around six minutes left in the third or 4th quarter. I could feel the momentum shifting and I knew then that it asn't going to get any better. GAH.
from jaimielight :
My dad said he is bringing me up after the 4th, to put in applications. I am unsure when i am coming to stay as of yet, but i will keep you posted. There is a ren faire on the 16th that i wanted to go to and i purchased the new harry potter book, but i have to go back to the store in KZOO to get it. So yeah, after that i will probably come up to stay. Our family reunion in on the 13th, couldn't be changed :(
from theeprincess :
Thanks. Yeah...unfortunately...drama central here. I heard yesterday you weren't coming for Jaimie's party. Why is that? If it was am issue about you know what...that shouldn't be a worry. We are family, just protective, yes I am. Had to throw in some Yoda.... We finally found a house. It's going to cost $49,900.00 with all the goodies I want and a $2000.00 discount. It's a four bed, two bath. We are going to Jenison next Saturday to put down the deposit and pick out the colors. It'll take about a month to build. B is still freakin' about money, understandable. He is going to court about the child support on July 13th.
from fluidlife :
Glad to see that you've resurfaced. We were starting to form a search party. Hope everything is going well.
from xnavygrrl :
My pal, keep the password handy. It's only for a week that i gotta keep everyone locked out. I'm on a mission. They messed with the wrong female!
from theeprincess :
I was wondering when that was going to happen. I remember you talking about quitting when I saw you in April.
from delirium21 :
good luck getting a new job. i hope everything works out for you. :(
from b-smaller :
4Him, she said, with some chagrin... :)
from pajamamama :
LOL at the major! Hehehe... I majored in "Beach" which is why I gots no degrees hanging on my wall! :)
from theeprincess :
Good for your sister. She's doing better than me. I went to 2 different junior colleges and dropped out both times. I need to go back. Ha! That was funny...the two W's....
from swooish :
I'm here.
from bettyalready :
I read R is for Richochet 2 weeks ago. Books on tape are really a lot better when you don't have time to read. I don't get a real chance to sit and read lately.
from starlight42 :
well, the only thing is I want a tan so that when I go to Jamaica and lay out in the sun I won't burn like crazy. Otherwise, I'd not even do any tanning at all- lotion or a bed. I just don't want to be miserable on the island.
from persimmmon :
ha, REASONABLE, not regional.
from persimmmon :
i just went to the blog you suggested, and read the author's comments about us gays. and, you know what bothered me the most? that he/she seemed like someone i might actually like. i notice that on forums and such that i visit, the ONLY hot button issue is homosexulaity. otherwise regional people get boiling blood when they think about us. and their grasp of the facts about parenting, marriage, employment laws, atc, are abysmal. in a surprisingly well done group rpesentation that i watched a week ago in college, a group of non gay students talked about why gay marriage should be legal. and in the studies they read about the children of gays, the biggest problem the kids had was from external influences. from heterosexual parents and their children giving the kids a hard time. not one child expressed negative feelings toward their two moms or two dads. i made a comment about how we see it as bigotry immediately when someone says that there should not be biracial children because of the abuse they'll suffer from others, but take it as a given when it's gay parents. i'm blathering, but the point is, that the problems with gay parenting are other people's problems, not the parents' or the kids'. and, that people are eager to have strong opinions based on imagined facts. i'm damn glad you have kids, lady.
from pajamamama :
I wish I read books! I would love to play your guessing game. What I miss most about my long, lost attention span is reading. I get as far as "Once upon a" and I'm off in another world! I have NO concentration whatsoever.
from pajamamama :
Another way to make a "crossed out word" is to use <s> this tag </s>, as in "strikethrough"! I love that feature!
from fluidlife :
I forgot to say anything about adding tables... duh, scatter-brained much? Anyway. Check out the W3 Schools tutorials here: http://www.w3schools.com/ for HTML stuff - including tables.
from fluidlife :
To show text that is crossed out, use the <del> tag. For example, I want to delete that <del>this</del> word. The word "this" will show a strikethrough line.
from theeprincess :
I'm glad Constantine is gone....I found his voice annoying. I was turned off by the tounge thing. Yuck! I felt he was fake & did I say annoying. Yes there where times he was better than others but for the most part I can't believe he made it after the first couple three weeks. I thought he was just bad...
from xnavygrrl :
Girl, has anyone told you today how awesome and inspiring you are? Well, I just did, because it's true! You go momma! And thank you so much for the note. It warms my heart to know I'm not the only one who suffers from losing someone way too early! The loss of a loved one creates this huge void in your life that no one can fill. Thanks for everything....
from mcmenses :
Hey girl...sounds like we need to share some emails...we need to talk about this stuff. Hope you're feeling better about things today. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help get you through this---I'm here for ya.
from pajamamama :
(((HUGS))) I'm sorry things are going badly for you in your relationship right now. I can certainly relate. I'm in the same boat in many ways - the anger, the fighting, the belittling, the staying-for-the-sake-of-the-children.... if you ever want to talk, you know where to find me. Take care. ~Linda
from fluidlife :
Oh sweetie! What can I say? I have nothing that will help. I won't even pretend to know how you could deal with all that you are facing right now. I can offer hugs and sympathy and the hope that it gets better soon. I have an idea how you're feeling. I've been there. It's hard. Good luck. I hope things work out for the best for you.
from fluidlife :
The title of the book is "The Five Love Languages" by Gary Chapman. I don't recall that it gets into gay issues. All the examples are heterosexual couples, but the information is applicable to any couple I would think. If you are interested, I wrote an entry about the book and my take on it on Feb. 2, 2004. I hope things get better between you two. I know how hard that can be. I have always questioned the notion of staying together for the sake of the kids, but I do believe it is better for kids to grow up with both parents in a strong and loving relationship. Good luck!
from kilowatt :
"Rainbows are people whose lives are bright, shining examples for others." ~ Maya Angelou ~ I thank you for your considerable kindness in regards to the recent gift of words that you so gingerly placed upon the portal of my online existence. It was a most surprising and yet delectable treat. May your day be an ambrosial amalgamation of adventure, discovery, bliss, relaxation, silence, music, love, and laughter.
from fluidlife :
Good luck with the counseling. It *is* very important that you and PJH have a good relationship for the boys. I know that R and I struggle with that. We spent a brief time in counseling. Probably not as long as we should have. And your list of things that make you feel loved is good. Share them with PJH - maybe in the safety of a counseling session. R and I read a book - I can't remember the name of it right now - about how people express and feel love. The prose was really annoying and it had a really Christian slant, but I did find it helpful for understanding him and for helping me tell him how I felt. If I think of the title, I'll let you know. Good luck!
from grrl-blog :
creepy. i read very few diaries but one that i read constantly has your same exact design. anyway, thanks for stopping by. ;)
from theeprincess :
I wanted to try something different. Then I didn't like it. I tried to change it back but I couldn't get on the website...so I guess I'm stuck with this for now...I'll probibly change it again today. Yeah....I like OTIS. I found out that I attract convicts....not something I pride in telling people of course.
from pajamamama :
Actually Bo and Scott were safe - Nadia went home!
from theeprincess :
Oh...and I was going to say too, I feel you about not feeling "at home" where you are living. I'm feeling that right now. I moved away from Southwestern Michigan to start over at made a home for myself in the Detroit area for about 7 years. Since I've been "back home" again, I feel out of place. I been out here since October of last year. I hate it. It's too slow. People are catty. I already have people that dislike me because of the way I dress & talk. I've been barred from 2 bars in Harford because of it. Fuck'em. The only things keeping me here is my son & Ben.
from theeprincess :
I feel you about having the surgery. If I could I would, for the same reasons, other than not being able to have children because of medication. My PMS & periods, to me, are out of control. Taking Aleve, which I have a doctor suggest, didn't help. Taking any other over the counter pain relievers don't work either. Taking multi-vitamin with the iron don't help. I've got low iron. So...I just suffer. That's why I'm so good at dealing with pain. So times it's a good thing, sometimes it's bad, because I don't realize how sick I really am. Ben wants to have another child. A boy to be specific. I don't think I could put myself through that again. I say it like that because my pregnancy with my son was tramatic, emotionally & physically. Physically because my body was scarred forever. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that if you had at least one ovary left you could produce enough hormones to keep you balanced. That's why I would love them to just yank that shit out.
from pajamamama :
Oh, I TOTALLY agree about the "getting to know you" segments on AI. Scott has a fabulous talent. He needs to just sing and otherwise shut his mouth. Viewers hearing his seventh grade education and double digit IQ isn't helping his cause any!
from theeprincess :
It's okay. Ben wanted to hang out so I went along. I wanted to visit & not be a crab. I'm good at grinning & bearing it.
from pajamamama :
Thanks for your nice comment! I appreciate the support and will likely be crying on your shoulder a lot. We're both 38 - something else we have in common! I'm snagging these questions, by the way...
from mcmenses :
Wow, I bow to your femme greatness. I salute you, you petit fleur, you femme goddess. High heels for 25 years??? Holy cats. That's like my girlfriend's wet dream; and let me tell you, a dream it shall remain cause my feet are chronically killing me. I mean I spend more than 8 hrs a day on them, and the last thing I want to do is put high heels on---ever! Not that I can't use a few inches vertically...jeez, chicks like you make me feel like a big ol bulldyke. If my gf gets wind of you and your girl shoes, I may be history. Ha ha ha. I loathe you, yet I worship you!!
from princessbug :
Funny, but I don't think of Michigan as "beach country"!!! But, if I ever make it I will let you know so we can get together! OOh, I know that you listen to Audio Books -- can you recommend any really entertaining ones for my long ass flights? I thought that would help the trip time some!
from xnavygrrl :
I never leave you notes. I'm sorry. :( Have a great day!!!
from pajamamama :
Right there with ya! I now have two different kids riding two different busses at two different times to the SAME school, all because my nine year old doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut and his butt in a seat! They won't let my six year old ride the special bus with his brother, so I get inconvenienced. Grr! Anyway, you're not alone on the bus issue!
from princessbug :
Now who's the stitch? That's pretty funny!! I will be taking a million pics of Ireland so you can live it through me!
from starlight42 :
Ah, a fellow Michigander! Today is a nice day, so I won't complain about MI weather today!! I read Good in Bed a couple of years ago, loved it. I see you also read Devil Wears Prada- I've got that on my shelf, been so busy lately though, not getting much reading done.
from pajamamama :
Congrats on the car! My hot flashes and I LOVE duel temp controls! Hehehe!
from princessbug :
I'm sick too and since Sunday the only thing I have ate is Mashed Potatoes and ice cream!!!!! Hope you feel better soon!
from poolagirl :
GAAAA! I just clicked on my own banner! Will I go blind now? Seriously, I just made you a fave. You are a really good writer with excellent taste in templates!
from poolagirl :
YIKES! You're right about Fantasia! I need to do more thorough Googling before I make up lists and stuff! Thanks!
from cactustree :
LOVED Devil Wears Prada. Trust me. It's accurate.
from sunnflower :
I'll pull together a little teen diarist that I read list.
from poolagirl :
YOW! Thanks for stopping by my diary - thanks for the coding stuff - and thanks for making me a fave! WOOOT WOOOT! I am going to dig into your diary tonight and see what ticks under that nice template you chose. *ahem* Great minds.
from mcmenses :
wow, public health risk? I never thought of that. So where are you and the kids staying? Kind of inconsiderate for the doctors not to explain better, this is a major consideration---especially with kids!
from starlight42 :
Wow- I hope PJ will get "better" soon. If you can say that to somone going through all that without sounding stupid! Anyway, hope all is back to normal soon. Thanks for stopping by my diary!
from princessbug :
I am keeping you and P in my prayers. I hope all is going well.
from delirium21 :
i'm sorry about PJH. i didn't get the update until just now, and had no idea what was going on, so i had to read the previous entry. LOL anyway - don't worry. everything is gonna be okay. like bob marley says, "every little thing gonna be alright."
from fluidlife :
Oh geez! I'm so late with this. Sorry. I am keeping a good thought for you and PJH. That is so awful that she has to be alone for this. I'm sorry that both of you have to endure it.
from theeprincess :
Great fragrance selections... I'm a "smell" person. You can get the real Egyptian Musk from Garden Botanika...I use to wear it too. Check the website. Glad to hear P is doing ok. That's really weird that they didn't tell you she would be radioactive for that long. About your smartass comment......you...smartass? Noooo...you ARE related to Ben....
from mcmenses :
Many prayers and well wishings for you and P---she'll be okay, just give her lots of nurturing when she gets home. Stop worrying, she's a strong lady. Also, my answers are posted on my diary. Thanks, those were good questions!
from theeprincess :
My 5 answer's are up. Read away....
from theeprincess :
Wow...I'm so sorry to hear that...I'll say a prayer for both of you.
from mcmenses :
B, send more questions! I answered a bunch of yours and posted them on my blog, but I'd like some different ones, please.
from gnomad :
Ok, here you go darlin': 1. Everyone has 20/20 hindsight. What is one decision you made in the past that you would change if you could? 2. If you could help one person with one issue that was out of their control, what would it be? 3. If the Ghost of Christmas Future popped into your bedroom tonight, what is one thing you would like to facilitate happening in your own life to better it? 4. If you could fly anywhere in the world for dinner, where would you go? 5. Boxers or briefs? *snicker*
from mcmenses :
Can I play the game too? Can I? I'll give you a cookie if you let me play...
from theeprincess :
Ask me some questions....I'll try not to lie..... ::grin::
from cactustree :
"Ask me, ask me, ask me... I wanna play too!" what the hell. i might do it privately and not on my blog, but i will respond, you crazy question girl.
from mcmenses :
Amen sister. All those so-called "intellectuals" make my daily life at work a living hell. It's all a giant contest to be the smartest person at the bookstore; because not a single one of these muthafuckas have a life. This is literally all they have besides a useless BA in History or English Lit. It's painful to watch, pathetic, and absolutely pointless to try and actually manage this group of self-absorbed idiots. So believe me---I feel your frustration. You know, I think I used to want to be an intellectual---but having grown up a bit (like you, lady) I realize that I just want to be a good person, do good things for the world, and live an honest life. What I may not have in intellect, I believe I make up for in passion---and you seem like that too.
from ursamajor :
Okay, here ya go. Now answer, answer, answer... 1. If you were the author of that teeny little "Life's Little Instruction Book," what would be your first and foremost Instruction For Life? 2. Why do you keep an online diary? Has the motivation/reason changed since you first started keeping the journal? 3. What is your most prized possession? 4. What accomplishment in your life, to date, are you most proud of? 5. Tell the truth, now that you're a SAHM (Shit Ass Ho Motherfucker), ever have the desire to mop the floor - just once - in your pearl choker and high heels, ala June Cleaver?
from lily-white :
Why thank you for both the Congrats and for stopping by. Mind if I have a look around?
from divamel :
You would ask...I already know everything about you! :) Okay, here goes: 1) What did you want to be when you grew up when you were 15? 2) If someone asked your mother what kind of person you were, what do you think she'd say? 3) How would you handle the situation if one of your children came out as queer? 4) Name your favorite sibling (half or whole) and why. 5) What color is your hair today?
from zaftig77 :
Yep, I reside in the mitten-state. Good luck on the weight loss. Your diary has a very eye-catching design. Where did you take your IQ test?
from theeprincess :
I know what you mean about my dad....but he is doing this to himself...shutting me out...so, I've decided not to make myself so "avaliable". I'm just really tired of being disrespected....but thanks for the reply...
from neangel :
i looked at the source & found the coding!! i don't know if it's something i can incorporate into my html but i will check it out! thanks!
from theeprincess :
That's cool you are listening to that book my Madeline LEngle. I hope you read or listened to the first one first, A Wrinkle In Time & get the 3rd, A Wind In The Door. I have those books, read them in 5th or 6th grade. Loved them then, love then now.
from princessbug :
I'll take your snow! I love winter. Not the drab dreary days, but when it is snowing or done snowing and the sky turns that bright blue and it is only 30 degrees out! I love it!
from neangel :
what code do you use to make the first letter on your paragraph look like that? i'd love to know! thanks.
from princessbug :
Okay, I am not sure if I have not been reading carefully, or what -- but, I thought you had 3 sons. You only seem to mention the younger two. Did I miss something? If I did, I hope that I have not brought up a sore subject. I apologize in advance if I have!
from fluidlife :
Hi. I'm in Central Texas. And this is actually late for cedar. Cedar season around here is usually late December through January. And it's been really hot here lately - 82 the other day. I don't like the weather here. I now some northerners who read my diary tire of my complaints about the weather being so warm when they are buried under snow. I don't want that, but I would really like four distinct seasons - as opposed to Summer for nine months and then three months of slightly cooler weather.
from mcmenses :
Wow! We are "the dynamic duo"! Both born on 2/17---we ROCK! Wait a minute...maybe we were separated at birth...hmmm...that may explain some things!! Anyhow, hope yours was happy. Love to you and let's both make this a great year.
from princessbug :
I think that someone else has suggested Alice Hoffman to me, but I have not had a chance to read them. I can't even count the stack that I have on my to read list! Since we seem to have a similar taste in books I will need to look into it. Are you part of bookcrossing.com? It's pretty cool. You can hunt for books that others leave and you can leave some, too. I am PrincessBug on that site, too! Hope you had a great Birthday!
from princessbug :
Feliz Cumpleanos a ti!
from gnomad :
Happy birthday! I was going to actually -sing- to you, but then I thought .. nah, it's her birthday, I'll do something -nice- instead! Hope this birthday is the best one yet!
from fluidlife :
Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to you... etc. Have a great day!
from cactustree :
happy birthday -- this will be your best year yet!
from emiloo :
Have a wonderful birthday! Hope you win big on the scratch-off tickets!
from delirium21 :
your boys are too cute. :) i hope my questions don't bother you - i've just never heard of RAD.
from emiloo :
The boys are gorgeous! I want to pinch their little cheeks.
from princessbug :
I love the pictures of the boys! I teach Sociology at a University in TN. I really enjoy it, but with out my doctorate I don't get paid jack! If you like my pics of the ferrets you should check out sixweasels diary and picturegurl on imagestation -http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=4290298603 - she is also Vanillasky2 on diaryland, but she doesn't update much!
from delirium21 :
i have never heard of that... is it genetic? what are the symptoms?
from delirium21 :
he's 6, LOL. "manners" is still a word that is difficult to comprehend at 6. anyway - what's RAD stand for? sorry, i guess i sound completely stupid, LOL.
from princessbug :
I am so sorry about Ruby, if you wrote about that I completely missed it. I think I saw Tasha's name once and never connected it.
from gnomad :
I actually accidentally saw Wife Swap last night. My opinion of Nicki differs WILDLY from yours, but hey, that's to be expected I suppose. Christian Woman reminded me eerily of Condi Rice, though; especially when she made them put up the republican sign on the lawn. *snicker*
from princessbug :
My master's is in Sociology and my undergrad was Criminal Justice. The job is with the Alcohol Beverage Commission (ABC) -- they deal with all licensing for liquor in the state. This particular job is for a special agent (the law enforcement side.) It pays really well and sounds pretty interesting, but it will be weeks before I know anything. Sorry to hear about your dad, I hope he is doing well. Why did you decide to get rid of Ruby? (I hope I remembered her name correctly!)
from mcmenses :
Great article---I'm working on assembling my own portfolio so I can get a paying landscape designer gig---I agree with you on the importance of having one. Wow, you're such a neat lady, I wish you lived in WI; we'd be buddies! And bonus: I think Chris and P would have TONS of stuff to talk about (Chris has a social worky, psychology background---though she's now working in the Criminal Justice system.)Anyway, you should move to Milwaukee!
from princessbug :
I loved your article on portfolios. It was especially interesting since I am in the process of looking for my "real" job! Sorry about the necklace incident. It makes for a great story, though!
from delirium21 :
hooooo boy, nimii... LOL not only did you accuse a poor, innocent little boy of being a thief, but you caused a scene in a respectable public school... ouch. ;) only joking - i've been there before, and i can totally relate! LOL it's very good of you to make it up to him, too. well. i hope you've learned a valuable lesson, missy! LOL glad you found the necklace. :)
from delirium21 :
question: how do you save favourite entries? because i know what to put in the bar, but apparently i can't get the entire html code in. it's kind of getting on my nerves, and i knew you know how to do it, so i thought i'd ask! :) i have been chewing on my hand and now there are teeth marks on it. that cannot be healthy behaviour for a 19-year-old.
from delirium21 :
i am never having kids. never ever ever. that principal is a douche. someday, there will be a law against idiots like that being in authoritarian positions. anyway, i thought homophobia was the South's specialty, not the North's. :) i live in north carolina, so i'm used to it - but that doesn't make it hurt any less. :/
from princessbug :
Thanks for alerting me to the error. I have it all fixed now. I hope that you are able to get your necklace back, that really sucks.
from kimgo :
Don't be toooo impressed, I copies from my proflie (blush). Let me know if you don't find Boxing Ghandis- HOWARD is THE BEST albumn!!!!
from mcmenses :
Honestly, I thought the giraffes suited you rather well---that's coming from one "nurturer" to another. You are very feminine (hate that word, maybe I mean "woman-ly") and when I think of you I think "abundance", rich jewel colors, lushness, sparkle. Does that help at all? I wonder if you are a thirty-something, earth mother, milk and honey kind of femme like me?? Am I even remotely accurate?
from princessbug :
Thanks for inspiring me to find a new template! Check out my bugs!
from to-my-heart :
I like your site. Sorry no ideas for banners.

from delirium21 :
your story about your kid and the School Bus Incident cracked me up. i share your feelings, though - even though i'm 19 and don't have any kids, LOL. the point is, i know i would have KILLED my kid if he'd done that. either way. i'm adding you to my favourites. you have won my heart. :)
from vickithecute :
Hey, thanks for adding me. I'll be back to check out your entries!
from divamel :
while yer pup is cute, adorable, love-ridden, etc., we canNOT add another to the menagerie! just can't. it's already bad enough with 3 cats and a love-addicted 70 pound lab who thinks she's a lap dog.
from science-girl :
If you'd seen any of the banners I've created for myself, you would not be asking me for ideas for banners for you. :-P
from emiloo :
Good luck with the WW. If you can raise those kids, you can do this!
from cactustree :
you go, b. i'm on week 4 of weight watchers, lost 7, gained 1.4, but am determined to get this right. and i have the same amount to lose that you do -- so let's do this together.
from gnomad :
Oh, and COOL template! Although the giraffes were very spiffy, this is very cool as well.
from gnomad :
Wooo .. welcome to parenthood! I think they ought to give everyone with children a deep discount on heart & blood pressure medication, but that's just me. Please don't let the Diva see this note. Heh.
from ursamajor :
i like the new design very much. and Woo-Hoo! for the guardian angel that was looking over your child yesterday.
from cactustree :
whoa. heart attack for sure.
from divamel :
noteNOTEnote sorry. couldn't help it. how unnerving, to say the least.
from science-girl :
Ahh...the joys of parenthood. Prepare yourself for many of those moments when you want to laugh at something a child is doing, but don't want to encourage it, or simultaneously want to hug your child tight and smack him/her silly. (Figuratively, of course. I'm not in the habit of smacking children around.)
from princessbug :
I LOVE your new template!!! I hope that you, P and the boys are doing okay!
from mcmenses :
So sorry for your family's loss. I think when someone has been suffering for so long, it's a good thing for it to finally be over---but it forces us to put closure on it too, which is never easy. My thoughts are with you, P, and the kids.
from divamel :
noteNOTEnoteNOTEnoteNOTEnote
from gnomad :
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! omg. That was HILARIOUS! Good for you!!!
from mcmenses :
Hey there B! So what skin care product do you recommend for me---I only have bad breakouts before and during my period, and but not just on my face but chest/back/shoulders. Can't use the baking soda with cetaphil---too abrasive, cause I use Retin A. What's good to clean the body skin with??
from science-girl :
ice.com ROCKS! It has gorgeous jewelry that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I hope you had a lovely New Year.
from cactustree :
just reading all of that makes me exhausted...and impressed with your dedication to your kids and your love for them.
from hothead :
donna tartt went to bennington, so did bret easton ellis. one of his books ends mid-sentence. see the theme? yikes. love...
from hothead :
[I'll have to find some other things to write about.] yes, you will. your presence is missed here, darling. how is your heart? hope all is well....love, c.
from rainbow127 :
PS I hope you get the job!!! ^ ^
from rainbow127 :
Hey Nim! the mouse liked water huh??? interesting lol I'm so sorry I have'nt been updating. Michigan IS cold!!!!!!!! ~shivers at the thought~
from emiloo :
Oh, you were so sweet to that poor little mouse. Good luck with your second interview!
from princessbug :
Good luck with the interview!!
from princessbug :
Long time, no Hellos! Sorry you are not feeling well. Don't worry about the dreams, we all have them - about the opposite or same sex - depending!!!
from hothead :
oh my, what a FANTASTIC quote, love. i'm totally stealing it....and how are you, by the way?
from mcmenses :
Playing pharmacist is not a good idea, especially in a period of flux/transition. Now is the time you most need to take good care of yourself---take your meds, see the therapist, take care of yourself---only then can you be available to the wife and kids. I'm having a good thought for you, B. Hang in there.
from science-girl :
It was indeed me who recommended that to you! Told you you'd like it. :-P Unfortunately, we have Alex tomorrow, and I never really know what we're doing when. Will you be in Kzoo again sometime? I'd still love to meet you for coffee. :-)
from science-girl :
Take your meds, woman! That'll probably help with the funk. I totally understand what you mean about being a stay-at-home mom being busier than when you were working. I've heard that from quite a few people. How are the kids doing?
from hothead :
good, because i MISS you! hope all is well...
from divamel :
promises, promises! bah!
from emiloo :
You won't have any trouble finding a temp job, especially if you have a university near-by. It might not be anything glamourous, but you'll be fine! Try to at least have a few days off to enjoy yourself.
from divamel :
sweetie, baby, lover, punkin!!! *smooch* you'll land on yer feet. you always do. in the meantime, look a sister up.
from purplebanana :
I only laugh at this entry because I completely relate to it. If I was in Michigan right now I'd over to help you out - as much as I hate non-procrastinating in my OWN life, I don't mind helping others out. Especially if they are well stocked on PMS food.
from hothead :
i adore you, you know that? i'd even say that you're my favorite-ist michiganer EVER. well, you and michael moore. but a tie isn't bad, right? get you some ice cream, girl. the good stuff. *mwah*
from science-girl :
Slow deep breath in through your nose, and out through your mouth. Slow deep breath in through your nose, and out through your mouth. Repeat until calm. *hugs*
from purplebanana :
I am terrible. You know, no postcard for you, etc. I've not been reading diaries, either, so I don't even know if you've moved. If you HAVE, send me the address. Suzy and I decided it's time to start being nice to people.
from thatgrrrl :
Barbara, go to http://www.bookcrossing.com/mybookshelf/kelleyanne and you'll see lots of the OTHER books that I've read. I bet we have a lot in common, I LOVED The Red Tent. Also, Rebekah and Sarah, both by Orson Scott Card.
from xnavygrrl :
Wow, you are going through a lot. What if I was to tell you that you're my hero? Girl, I know you doubt yourself but you got a lot more going for you than you think. You're in my thoughts, sweetie.
from mcmenses :
Wow, you have so many changes in the works. It's amazing how well you seem to be holding up. And yes, I do miss you:)
from science-girl :
I'm glad the job situation has gotten a bit better. Prospects are always a good thing. Good luck with the move and your new life there!
from persimmmon :
just popped in after months away to read friend's diaries...and congratulations! kids!! damn, i want me some kids.
from seekingme :
Hi there. First off, go back to the doctor and make him do a test. I say this because my mom had similar symptoms and they kept telling her it was a pinched nerve. Eventually they found out she had MS. So keep on them. Doctors need to be prodded now days, which sucks, but you do what you gotta do. I'm sure that all the reasons you listed are valid for why you are feeling the way you are. Just try not to let it get to you. Keep the thought that, you are where you are supposed to be. Hang in there. You're doing much better than you think you are. :)
from science-girl :
Wow, this weekend, huh? That came up kind of fast. Between now and the end of September we'll have to get together for coffee or lunch or something. :-) I hope you feel better...
from mcmenses :
"Dancing Crow"---that is awesome. I am envious of that name. The crow is my totem animal, the storyteller, the trickster. That's why I've got them tattooed on my arm. Wow, that is soooo cool, B. Oh and good to have you back too!
from seekingme :
If it worries you, go get another opinion. If no other reason than to ease your mind. You don't need to be worrying about "other" things now. But I'm sure it will all be okay. Welcome back.
from science-girl :
Hooray! You're back!!! Good to know you're still alive and (mostly) sane. :-)
from divamel :
yup. lazybones. that's me. :)
from cactustree :
your boss sounds like a grade-A asshole.
from xnavygrrl :
I know this borders on stalking, but I was reading back over your archives. I sniffled and teared up when I read about Ruby, and I smiled when I learned you are adopting 3 boys. You, my friend, are a really neat person. I was a ward of the state when I was 7, and all I ever really wanted was a place where I fit in. Oh, we lived with family members, but my uncle became a molesting jerk and was physically and emotionally abusive. I ran away at 16 and I wasn't adopted until I was 17. Such is life, I guess. I'm just really thankful I can give my daughter the sort of love and acceptance that I missed out on.
from xnavygrrl :
Thanks for making me a favorite. I was reading your Hate list and I'm mortified to admit I have many dream catchers and a few mandela's and I'm very sure I've not hung them in the right place. Could you tell me where they go? My grandmother is 1/2 blackfoot Indian and I still don't know where dreamcatchers go. Anyway, I look forward to reading you. If you want to get a rundown on me, you can read my entries titled, "My letter to the Parole Board" or "Story of my life" or "That house in the alley". That's me, 100%. Ta ta, love.
from seekingme :
I understand how you're feeling. Writing helps, and so does reading uplifting spiritual words. Hang in there. This too shall pass....
from divamel :
Ouch.
from seekingme :
Hang in there. If you ever need to vent/talk/etc. email me. Sending you warm hugs.
from science-girl :
Well, we'll have to get together for coffee or something before you move! :-) Things sound like they're a bit rough on you right now... {{{HUG}}}
from seekingme :
Congratulations. I'm sure you will give these boys a warm and loving home. They are lucky to have you, as you are lucky to have found them. :)
from emiloo :
That sounds like a lovely first day as a family. :) You two will make great parents.
from cdghost :
i enjoyed your words, with best regards.. Cdghost
from hothead :
damn, honey...it just keeps coming, doesn't it? *sending good thoughts your way*
from volleydahl :
i do know. i currently have a hot pink cast on my right hand due to numerous torn ligaments, but i keep right on trucking away. by the way... it's volleydahl, not valleydahl. you make me sound like a sappy californian.
from rainbow127 :
Awwwwww... thanks Nim. That means a lot to me :).
from ursamajor :
I'm keeping my cosmic fingers crossed for you that Sunday... and all the following days... come smoothly for you and your growing family.
from daises :
I really, really hope homosexual weddings becomes legal for you soon. The actions of that judge was just f*ed up and it's tragic to see that those thoughts still exists. I hope you get a better judge next time! I realise there's a majority of 'ordinary' people with a problem with people being gay, but you should at least not have to endure it from official people like a judge!
from rainbow127 :
Hi Nimiiwin! Sorry I have'nt updated in soooooo long. But yeah... I finally have:)!!!!! -Amanda
from dangerspouse :
Wow, hope you're feeling better! And if not, I hope you give it to the kids so they're all too sick to bother you while you recover!
from divamel :
*chuckles* You can continue to recommend to me, darlin'. Just 'cause this one was a dud for me is no reason to stop.
from gnomad :
Aww sorry you're sick sweetie. Joo want I should FedEx you some chicken soup or something? I don't think the McD's fries would make it to the FedEx office in the car with me, never mind make the trip. Uh .. but I mean well. Hope you feel better soon!
from purplebanana :
You've been on my buddy list for MONTHS, and you had a comment, too. I took the comment off today because it was innane and I needed to think up something better.
from science-girl :
Did the doc switch your ADD meds?
from divamel :
Home is just about anywhere south of the Manson-Nixon line.
from hothead :
me, me! i'm crafty! remember the card i sent you? see, i'm a big fan of the card making. just have fun with it and make it your own. :)
from gnomad :
sweetie, ya can't quantify love. it doesn't matter a damn how long you had her. it matters that she was there, and you were hers. that's all. for how long doesn't even figure in. yeah. i totally get it. *another big long tight hug*
from gnomad :
oh.my.god. sweetie, i'm sorry. i was just trying to get caught up since i haven't read in forever and just now saw. oh. baby. *big long tight hug* fuck. i'm so sorry.
from emiloo :
Sweetie, I am so, so sorry about Ruby. I didn't get to read your diary until just now. It's amazing how quickly animals become such a huge part of your life, and how much we love and even depend on them, sometimes without even realizing it. I hope you're doing okay. Take care.
from science-girl :
I'm glad you buried her in your yard. My parents have my 18-year-old cat buried in their backyard with a headstone with a gold plaque on it. It's funny...no matter where the sun is, or if the grave is in shade, the plaque still shines like there's sun shining right on it. We like to think that Popcorn is reminding us that he's still there... Ruby is probably doing the same for you... **more big hugs for you**
from hothead :
oh, barbara. i am so sorry to hear about Ruby. please let me know if there's anything i can do/if you just need to talk. know that i'm here for you.
from cactustree :
i know what you're feeling and i understand your loss and believe me...she is definitely running around up in heaven and curling up at night at god's feet.
from seekingme :
I'm sure that my words will not be enough to comfort you, but I am sending you a great big hug. I am so sorry for your loss. And I believe animals do have souls and Ruby is with her maker and at peace.
from daises :
I'm so sorry to hear about Ruby. *hugs*
from mcmenses :
Oh, B. My heart breaks for you and Ruby. I don't know why these things happen, it is so, so hard. I send you love and healing, and know that there is a dog heaven where they can run around and do the things that make dogs happy.
from purplebanana :
oh, oh, oh. I'm sorry.
from bathtubmary :
so sorry to hear about your pup. big hugs, d
from science-girl :
Oh, sweetie. I am SO SO sorry to hear about Ruby. My thoughts and prayers are with you and her. I'm sure wherever she is, she's happy. **HUGE HUGS**
from science-girl :
LMAO. The "religious wrong." Hee! :-)
from daises :
Just thought I'd drop a note and let you know that I read you, even though i just recently added you to my fav list. :)
from dangerspouse :
Hey hey, thank you so much for those suggestions for leather goods over at my place - I really appreciate it! Y'know, I'd LOVE to order stuff over the web, but it's gotta be in my oily Italian hands by tomorrow...and I'm not gonna pay overnight freight charges! I love my wife, but not $27 worth! Fortunately, there's a pretty good mall right on may way home from work, so I'll be dragging the Mighty WRX there to see what they have. Thanks again kiddo, that was really nice of you :)
from science-girl :
Actually, I wasn't referring to M-89, but we do occasionally go there. It's where we saw Harry Potter. I was actually referring to Cheap Flicks in Battle Creek, which is only $3 per movie ticket, but we're cheap, so we'd rather go for free. :-)
from dangerspouse :
Pharmaceuticals ARE a great cure - that's why god gave them to us. Well, I hope they worked and Dion had a killer birthday dust-up. Hang in there babe!
from seekingme :
Sending you a great big warm and fuzzy hug.
from purplebanana :
Yes. I read. You already know that. I'm going to be in Michigan this week, but for only like 28 hours. But during that time, we will be breathing the same air. I think I'll bring an inhaler. (No, not because of you..just because Michigan makes me wheezy and geekily unable to breathe.)
from divamel :
You *are* awful. Simply awful. :)
from science-girl :
*I* read you, darn it! :-)
from mcmenses :
Uhhhh...we'll we've already got a house in the middle of nowhere (kind of) but I'm pretty sure the kid thing will never, ever, ever happen. More pets perhaps, but kids...uh, yeah not so much. We are way too selfish and too into one another to introduce kids into the mix. Too big of a commitment---all that feeding, clothing and nurturing. I give you a lot of credit, cause I know we could never do it.
from dangerspouse :
Aw, thanks for calling Casey "cute". If he had a tail, I'm sure he'd wag it at you. Then ram his nose up your butt *sigh*. You get used to it.... Anyway, I'm sure your little Ruby is a wonderful mutt also. Thanks again babe! :)
from mcmenses :
That last line is brilliant, B. That's the story of my life. And it took me a long time to learn that lesson---but I'm so grateful that I did. My relationship has been transformed by this realization. Jeez, we have a scary amount of things in common, don't we?
from dangerspouse :
Ask and ye shall recieve. Two pics of the little butthound were in a previous entry: http://dangerspouse.diaryland.com/040603_74.html Enjoy! :)
from fiestada :
Yahtzee was fun, but I lost shamefully. I definitely need some practice.
from purplebanana :
Put it in your diary, just for a second, and you can see it and then delete it.
from dangerspouse :
Sometimes you have to construct your own little world inside the larger world we all inhabit. You'll always be an American, true, with all the annoying, frustrating, contradictory policies and perceptions that we are constantly bombarded with. But there is also still great beauty in the world, and people who love you. If you can keep from dwelling on the negatives, sometimes the positives can overwhelm you. In a good way. Hang in there :)

I know how you feel, I'm not seeing many notes either. So here's mine---the second actually, as the first one vanished into cyberspace. While I don't always comment, I do read your journal regularly. I am always inspired by your words, your insights, compassion, tolerance, and sense of humor. Not only are you the kind of woman I would like to have as a friend, but the kind of woman I'm working to become. (Until that happens, I will continue to rant, rage, and pontificate all over the place.) Your writing makes a difference to me, so keep doing it and as always thank you. You make me look at things differently!
from purplebanana :
I reread your note. I coulda got it. Maybe. Had I of understood where the question was coming from, damn you! (PS - the red cross sucks my ass. I mean, if gay men want to give blood, TAKE THE BLOOD, fuckwits. You'd assume they were testing it anyway. Aaaaand...the spread of HIV is highest in young heterosexuals. Now, if the red cross did consider you a giant lesbo, would that affect your blood donateability?)
from purplebanana :
I feel paranoid. There, on my notes page, is words about chickens and ducks and dogs and cats and children, and the number of each that owns each other. I thought, Did she write another entry to test our math skills? So I came and reread the latest five. Where is this animal stuff? Why can't one child own all the pets?
from divamel :
OR if you're a woman who's had sex with a man who's had sex with a man since 1977 you can't give. Or at least that's the way it used to be in the mid-nineties. I used to give like religion until they came up with *that* one...
from seekingme :
Hey....sorry about no notes. I was away from my computer for a week though. :( Anyway, just getting caught back up. I see you're going to Windsor. I live not far from there....maybe we could do coffee? Let me know
from dangerspouse :
Ok, ok, I'm SORRRRY I didn't leave you notes before!!! I blame it on my dog. Why not, I blame him for everything else. Including Al Qaeda (it's a long story). Hey listen, if my getting horrible, mutilating, suicide inducing poison ivy made you smile even briefly, then it was worth it to me. Thanks for the nice note :)
from science-girl :
You are a better woman than I. I had to think about it for a few minutes before allowing my husband to be gone for 10 minutes to return a movie to the video store on Saturday night when it was getting-the-child-ready-for-bed time. :-) I can't imagine dealing with TWO kids on my own.
from thatgrrrl :
I have no idea how many have both.... the best I can come up with is a number less than 29 and more than 1, or maybe 5, but possibly none of the above. I do know it has something to do with sets. Intersecting circles. Some of them have none. Maybe. Or not. :)
from ursamajor :
My God, it's been a while since I've been around here! I had no idea that you were even considering adopting. Congratulations!
from rainbow127 :
lol Well of course:) but that's expected:)
from rainbow127 :
Awwwwwww..... THE BOYS ARE SO ADORABLE!!!!!!!! :)
from purplebanana :
Holy caBOli those kids are cute!
from purplebanana :
So how do lesbians adopt kids in Michigan? It doesn't sound like you're dealing with a private agency - I just didn't know if it was legal or not. Apparently it is.
from dangerspouse :
Wow, what an eventfull couple of weeks I missed in your life while I was away! Congrats on the boys!! I hope that life as a parent is everything you hope it will be (and good luck finding your "god center" on those days where they set the kitchen on fire AND bring home a pet emu that "followed them home"). Great catching up on your stuff :)
from divamel :
You *are* amusing, in a most delightful way. I would have gladly played kickball with you.
from rainbow127 :
Poor Lucky:( Did he tell you why he felt that way? I probably would have busted out into tears right then and there. I'm happy for you and the boys:) and hope everything keeps going well for you.
from rainbow127 :
Awww... I cant wait to see them!:)
from bathtubmary :
i was in tears reading your recent entries. hope everything goes well. xoxox, d
from rainbow127 :
The kids sound awesome:) That must be one of the-coolest-feelings in the world, to become a mom of two beautiful kids. I hope all goes well for you guys. ~Amanda
from rainbow127 :
Thank you so much Nimiiwin:) I hope everything will be fine.
from princessbug :
Glad to hear that things went so well! I'm very excited for you! It sounds like you were both quite taken with D & O. Congrats! :)
from purplebanana :
This is so exciting and scary. You're great; things will be great.
from emiloo :
I am so thrilled for you. Here's hoping that everything goes smoothly. Congratulations, and good luck. Keep us posted!
from gettingnaked :
How exciting for you... congratulations!
from science-girl :
So are things between you and PJH calmed down now? Are you staying together?
from princessbug :
Good Luck tonight!! :)
from seekingme :
Wow, I know I'm a new reader, but I'm so excited for you. Hope all goes great!
from seekingme :
Hi, yes I'm in Sterling Heights, MI. Never been to the west side!
from seekingme :
Hi. Found your site from Hothead's. Just wanted to introduce myself and say that I too belong to Unity church. I absolutely love it. Take care, and I'll definitely be reading more.
from hothead :
1) nice template. 2) *you're* on postcardx, too?! i spent most of last night making crafty cards. it's oodles of fun and a great distraction. 3) why don't you have a guestbook? just saying. i myself am a great fan of the guestbook. but of course i like you just the way you are.
from purplebanana :
And ALSO, I just let your page load all the way. At first I thought it was one giraffe with some freakishly large head, then I realized it was two giraffes. All proof that I do, in fact, need new glasses. (I had a thing for plastic giraffes once, and Suzy just bought a bunch of giraffe postcards for a blank wall to have one day). I like your template! Your new stalker, me.
from purplebanana :
One, I want to send and receive fun things in the mail! I am going to check out that website, but I am really partial of sending fun cards to people I already know. If you think I won't kill you, send me your address! Two, I am sad you got a new template because I want a new template and cannot handle other people having happiness. But still, orange is nice. Three, "tweaking" : fine tuning, modifying...eh, all the synonyms on Words are worse than the original word. Sorry. Four, has anyone ever called you Barbie?
from science-girl :
Well, it did rain cats and dogs last night and Saturday night. But at least it was somewhat decent for a while each day. I guess I just made the best of it. :-)
from purplebanana :
I like hearing you talk about God things. I like God things. (If a equals b and a truck is driving 70 mph toward a cliff...) So, perhaps we should email about it sometime? Also...tell me what a development director is, because the job I'm looking at is like director-of-everything-and-in-charge-of-the-whole-fucking-world. Seems pretty demanding when I am also going to be doing the Ph.D. and writing books. Advice, please? [email protected]
from hothead :
You should maybe read my latest entry, because it's all about how you're pretty much the best person ever. :)
from hothead :
okay, so i'm at work right now, but have somehow found the time to read your past few entries and nearly everything on your extras page. and after my barbara eduacation, all i have to say is: you are so, so great and i'm glad you're here and that we're friends. in short? you rock my socks.
from science-girl :
I know I've mentioned this to you before, but I'd like to second my own suggestion... Read "Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal" by Christopher Moore when you're done with The Da Vinci Code. It's just another spin on the whole Jesus-and-his-friends thing. :-)
from cactustree :
i went to monster.com and did the salary comparison. OHMYGOD. i put it what i made in NYC...then compared it to Virginia Beach. $40k in NYC...equals SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS in Virginia Beach. Job, schmob. I'm going to be a bum.
from princessbug :
I wish you all the luck with the boys and look forward to hearing more about them!
from cactustree :
oh GOD. why is PR always so fucking difficult? why do people constantly second-guess us all? i say fuck them. FUCK THEM. let's go open a snowcone stand. PR THIS, buddy.
from katslater :
Well, this may seem rather piddling in the grand scheme of things, but here's my best advice. Listen to your gut, because it NEVER lies, ever. (My Mom told me that before she went all happy clappy, and it's never steered me wrong.) If you're unhappy, kids will know that. And if these kids have had a rough life, they probably need to be with adults who have a strong, stable relationship... it's the only way they'll feel safe and protected. Good luck-- it sounds like you've got more than a plateful to be getting on with!
from cactustree :
left alone during the week with three foster kids?? hell. no. re: weird email message, diaryland was being screwy about my new private diary -- i had sent you the username/link -- but i had to email andrew to fix it and it's slowly getting there. hold tight and when it's ready, i'll send the info again.
from princessbug :
Hey Nimiiwin. Wow, kids? I think you seem to already know what you want and don't want in that department. I think you two really need to talk about it; including Mt. Pleasant. Just remember to make yourself happy!!!!!!!!
from hothead :
hey doll. yeah...i wrote something yesterday and then decided it was best to take it down as quickly as possible. it's not like i enjoy editing myself, but sometimes with the exes, the least said the better. you dig? sorry for the confusion...and i hope things improve for your sister...i've had that happen to me and it *sucked.* glad she has you to get her through....
from bathtubmary :
i name all my favorites for children's books. 'deliver us from evie' reminded me of you, but the more i read and get to know you it could change. the description's here: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0064471284/qid=1082574264/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-8434364-1561529?v=glance&s=books
from cactustree :
barbara, please rest assured that i, faithful cactustree, am ALWAYS interested in if you've "done the doody." it's one of my favorite topics and the closer i get to 30, it's a constant topic of discussion.
from katslater :
Hey, thanks. fortunately my friend and I have been able to work through all of that crap... it took years (literally) but now we're OK. It's a fresh start for our friendship, and I think that's the most positive thing that has come out of this whole thing. I appreciate your supportive vibes-- more than you know!
from gnomad :
I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya darlin'. Hey, where's my giftie?? ROFL
from bathtubmary :
read away, but it's actually quite simple. i'm happily married to a man, but i like women and men equally and the we have an arrangement within our marriage that allows for the occasional, er, side project. xo, d
from bathtubmary :
i'm not technically a lesbian but my thoughts and actions certainly indicate otherwise, eh? thanks for liking my goofy diary. xoxo, d
from cactustree :
do you know that i want your job? but completely? i want to be a director for development and communications for a nonprofit. hmm...this could be like Showgirls where i push you down a flight of stairs to get you out of the way....
from science-girl :
I want to go into Forensic Science, most likely working as an "evidence technician" or "Crime Science Investigator." So I'd be working directly for law enforcement. :-)
from cactustree :
don't know where the job in MI was...but honestly, could you see me at that Michigan Woimmminngnng's Festival?? ohmygod. i would be thrown out in about two minutes for saying something truly offensive. but that's the charm of me.
from cactustree :
now check this out -- one of my placement agencies has a perfect job for me -- IN MICHIGAN!! i've had to nix it because of the crap weather (it's all about the sun this time around, baby), so looks like you're going to have to make your way south.
from katslater :
Thanks-- I'm flattered! If I ever make it out west someday, we will definitely have to rendesvous with tea, biscuits, and a comfy couch.
from gnomad :
Ooo. Which one do you WANT?
from emiloo :
Whoa! Sorry, where are my manners! Ruby is adorable, as are you! Don't mind me, it's just my jealousy of your dog ownership (I never heard back about Tater). Some day, though. Some day.
from purplebanana :
Wow. I read some of these other notes and thought - I haven't offered her my wife, I haven't told her how cute she is, and I only begrudingly commented on her dog. I'm no good as a fan.
from dangerspouse :
Hi there! Listen, I'm SO SORRY!! I was away for a few days, and so I didn't see your nice note and SUPERFABULOSO plug for my diary at your own until now. Really, that was so sweet of you - if you weren't a lesbian, I'd toss you one out of gratitude. At the least, can I offer you my wife?? Anyway, thanks again, really! (But I have to say: you thought a terrier was gonna dig less than a Herding Dog? Lol..Staffordshire's are beautiful, and excellent companions I hear, but they are all terrier. Have fun!) :)
from princessbug :
Hey Nimii! Long time, no talk. I just wanted to tell you that Ruby is a doll! I am a big fan of animals and she is a cutie! P.S. You are pretty cute, too! :)
from purplebanana :
I'm crrrazy. Three notes in three minutes. Yeah. (The image is stored in my diaryland space because a) you're a nice person and b) I like to milk the system.)
from purplebanana :
Which image did you want? I can tell you how to put it up.
from cactustree :
well, it all sort of sucks pure ass...but in an interesting way. i think that's the best way to put how things are going.
from purplebanana :
I just read Catch 22 last month; it was really funny (which surprised me) and a fast read. I recommend it. Also, sista, where's the link to the new GeOfYoAsMo? Get off you as and put it up. (You can pester me about dogs, I can pester you about this.) Your pal in email wasting life, Alison
from purplebanana :
I could rage on and on about how you are rubbing my nose in my lack of pet/child, but I won't. The dog's pictures are cute, and you know it. I am not one to gawk at pet pictures, but I will admit LOVING the 'disgruntled' one.
from hothead :
Love to move to NY, huh? I may know of an apartment...yeah, me and the girl are done here and are looking elsewhere. Like I told Cactus, NY's a nice place to visit but i wouldn't want to live here! :)
from hothead :
Hey! Thanks for the job offer...but no chance of you moving here, i suppose, after all the burglarizing. NY loses again.
from dangerspouse :
Hey there! I just saw you've added me to your fave list. That's so sweet of you, thanks! Glad I could make you laugh (although it was probably at my picture). So listen, about your adorable pup's drooling problem - just do what I do when my wife starts to leak various fluids: take away her credit cards. If it works for her, it should work for your pooch. Thanks again :)
from gnomad :
The house of Gnomad is currently accepting donations of wee puppies who look absofuckinglutely adorable. Just stop by with Ruby any time. She's a doll!
from mcmenses :
What a sweet baby Ruby is! She is adorable. I can see how she reeled you in, being all cute and puppyish and whatnot. Hey, and you're not bad, either!
from science-girl :
Your puppy is SO STINKING CUTE!!!! Can I have her? Please? :-)
from purplebanana :
I wish I was going to Chicago for longer than a day so we could go out for a nice meal. You could tell me I'll be okay, I could tell you you'll be okay. I think you are right, if it counts for anything - six months is a nice solid period to make choices in. I think the key to life is making a series of choices that gets you closer and closer to the 'you' you ultimately want to be. My warm, WARM thoughts are with you.
from ursamajor :
nah, he just looks exactly like shaggy.
from purplebanana :
You nice, nice lady. Your comments make me start wanting to find other silver linings. Although some of your niceness is erased by my jealousy of the fact that you now have a pet and I don't. When this visa bullshit is all straightened out, I'm seriously going to post on my diary that I want a kitten and see if any London readers will donate a teeny tiny kitten. Yes. I love diaries.
from emiloo :
If you don't post pictures of Ruby soon, I'm going to lose it. I posted a picture of a dog I don't even HAVE! Come on!
from ursamajor :
Oh dear, I have been far too self-involved lately. Please, please, please... I would love to see pictures of your new baby! :)
from science-girl :
I wanna see pictures of your dog! And I mean NOW, darn it! :-P
from cactustree :
mazel tov on getting Ruby!! post or send pics soon!
from mcmenses :
Yes, absolutely. What I've seen of MI (mainly the U.P.) it's just like WI. It's a bit more "grubby" down here in Racine (industrial, depressed, highest unemployment in the state) but we got a good rental deal on a house and a little yard that I can garden in. It's been a total lifesaver---and a great relief from the $1000/mo. apartment we used to live in up in Milwaukee. I hate the city!
from mcmenses :
WI, yes. Racine County to be precise. We both work up in Milwaukee, which is about 40 min. north. We live 6 blocks from Lake Michigan. University of WI Milwaukee=UWM. I knew you were in MI, but you didn't know I was here, huh? You'd know us immediately, we're the only lesbians on the block...the ones with the nice garden.
from science-girl :
Yes, New Orleans! We've been before (when we were dating and my husband had a client there, so he was there for business). I can't wait to go back! WHOO HOO!
from purplebanana :
Also, here's why I'm embarassed. It's 2:30 in the morning. When I went to your recent entry, I read till the bottom line (that I could see), thought it ended abruptly, and forgot that diaries can be scrolled down. I think that's a sign I should go to bed.
from purplebanana :
Number one, I'm on Friendster! I'll be your friend whore, if you tell me how to find you on there. Otherwise look up my email address and add me. Number two, I didn't realize that Jesus movie was out. Did you know that two members of the cast/production teams were hit with lightning (on 2 sep. occasions) during the filming? This is what reading trashy magazines teaches you.
from katslater :
Yeah, I meant "born."
from katslater :
Wow-- in one day you have a whole new family. That's pretty cool, I think! I have a brother who was given up for adoption before I was bron, and I yearn (corny word, but true) to meet him... maybe I'll get lucky like you did! Congrats on being someone's new big sister.
from hothead :
oh, yeah....thanks so much for the note you left. ALWAYS lovely to get such support and agreement! glad that things worked out with the relatives, looking forward to hearing the rest of the story. :)
from science-girl :
I'm so glad it went well for you last night! :-)
from cactustree :
oh barbara...when i saw that i became your Friendster pal, i almost peed my pants...i mean, it was better than the pirates of penzance.
from blunt-revues :
Your review is done. Thanks for stopping by!
from cassiopeia- :
Happy Valentine's Day! kisses, cassie
from emiloo :
Pish posh, how could the NOT like you? They will adore you! Good luck!
from princessbug :
I thought it was funny that we had a couple of the same results! Soul Sistas at heart!!! :)
from emiloo :
I hope your stay at the new place is relaxing. Enjoy your reading, and try to think of it as a little getaway. I mean that in the least-cheesiest way possible. Try to have fun!
from princessbug :
Just wanted to let you know that I LOVE your entries. I know this is public and all, but aren't we writing for ourselves? If you want to write about 5 topics, then do it! I give you a perfect score: 100!!!
from divamel :
Damn. All right for the six degrees. And *I* happen to think you damned funny, girl. Hee.
from science-girl :
Ooh! You rebel, you! 4 topics! *shocked look* (P.S. This is the last note I'll leave you today. I swear.)
from science-girl :
Oh, and...check this out: http://www32.brinkster.com/bitchnmoan/giraffe.html
from science-girl :
It's a small world, after all! It's a small world after all! :-) Wacky. Plus, we both know the Diva. :-) Six degrees of separation in FULL EFFECT! (I think I'm insane today...sorry.)
from science-girl :
Okay, two things. First, I think I may know you in a six degrees of separation kind of way...You mentioned Dawn Broderick in one of your entries... (yes I read through your entire journal while I'm supposed to be working. Whoops!) I used to work with someone with that name at a certain fast food italian restaurant when I was 16-17. I wonder if that's her? Secondly, I highly recommend that you read Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal by Christopher Moore. It's hilariously funny, as well as being interesting in terms of his ideas about the life of Jesus during the "missing years." It's laugh-out-loud fun! Take care... I hope this separation works out for you... If it makes you feel any better, my best friend and her husband separated a year and a half or so ago, and they recently got back together. A month should go quickly. Jeez, I'd better shut up now.
from divamel :
note to self: wear baggy-ass pants the next time nimiiwin coaxes you out of the cave to go to Sonic. ;->
from katslater :
Hello-- I'm alive, and well. Thanks for the concern... as a matter of fact, I just updated less than an hour ago!! Have a great weekend.
from purplebanana :
Woo. You're quick to respond. I'm another lesbian Barbie. Perhaps we should sell ourselves to Meijer and make some cash. In other news - I grew up in Michigan. Lived there until I moved to London three years ago. We want to live in America, and there are no immigration laws for same-sex couples in America, so the only option was for Suzy to get a job. The job she's been offered is in Wisconsin.
from purplebanana :
I saw your name on mcmenses' reader page; did you realize it's very fun to keep repeating it mentally? Yes. Well. Anyway, I clicked on your name, got to your profile, and was excited to see someone else identify as a grammar freak. Fun!
from mcmenses :
Separation? I've been reading, but did I miss something? Could you fill in the blanks for me?
from calendarboi :
I was Googling for reviews of the L Word, since I fall in and out of love with TV and wanted to find out if this was worth tuning back in for. I came across your blog in the process, and clicked on the link you had for the examples of hot butches, which lead to the calendar that I happen to be in =) I'm the one in the second row, in the boxer briefs. I appreciate the recommendation quite a lot ;) If I ever figure out how to audition for future seasons (assuming there will be more), I'll see what I can do. LOL It'd be much better than ending up in Shakespearean plays, where, more often than not, the director has no real idea what to do with me. Anyhow, just wanted to drop a line... -the calendar boi in the second row PS Your email link doesn't work. Was that intentional or...?
from tokcocktok :
Hi, thanks for the note. *hug* I gave her a hug, she kissed me on my cheek, and all was well. I asked her why, and she said she was thinking. How odd =]
from diaryreviews :
Hey, your review is now up at Diary Reviews! And congratulations, you are eligible for the "I scored a 90 or better at Diary Reviews" diary ring. -Xilia
from r-e-v-i-e-w :
your review is up!
from mcmenses :
Wow the link is smokin! I'm happy to know there really are lesbians out there who will actually admit to appreciating the "butch/femme" dance. Yeah for us! Your journal is funny, really interesting, and while swear words are conspicuously absent from your entries (see mine) I think we've got a lot in common. I'm going to keep reading...
from divamel :
Nice linkage. Hubba.
from emiloo :
Just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you. I hope everything works out for the best. Take care.
from katslater :
Hey, I hope everything works out for you, no matter what you decide. I suspect you'll do what needs to be done, and do it with kindness and dignity. Take care.
from gnomad :
*foreheadsmooch*
from nimiiwin :
Just for the record: DivaMel is a superwoman!
from divamel :
Bah. You make me sound like I'm some sort of superwoman when in actuality, I am simply trying not to remain a lazy bum. Truth time: I haven't worked out in at least 2 weeks. :(
from cassiopeia- :
Sorry to hear about you mom and all. kisses, cassie
from cassiopeia- :
Thank you for taking the time to view the amber alert! You never know when you are the one to save a life and in this case, the lives of three children who are going to be forever tainted by the facts of their father killing their grandparents, aunt, and sibling. Thank goodness they were not added to the list.
from tokcocktok :
Haha, thanks for the note. It made me feel less strange :)
from cassiopeia- :
http://codeamber.org/phelps/
from tokcocktok :
Thanks! :) *hugs*
from tokcocktok :
Hi, I'm just dropping by randomly to all the beloved people on my buddy list. And I just wanted to tell you that I have a NEW LAYOUT! (sorry, I was excited.) Care to tell me what you think please? :)
from divamel :
welcome home! did you bring me a tan?
from emiloo :
Have a safe trip and a Merry Christmas!
from sunnflower :
Thanks for stopping by Suburban Island and adding my diary to your favorites list. I read your profile - I know you are cool. Your trip to Florida sounds like it will be fun - even the road trip part - now that you're a grown up. Then again my dad still treats me like he knows best and I am 50 - will it never stop! I like your favorite websites entry - visit my weblog for some other good ones - www.alittleisland.com.
from princessbug :
Me again! Question: Is it acceptable for someone with the blood flowing through the veins, though not a "practicer" so to speak, to surround herself with Native American Art and some turqoise pieces? Note: She does know the meaning behind the art (like dreamcatchers or 'The End of The Trail') and all Turqoise pieces were purchased from beautiful Native American women in New Mexico, she doesn't go for the cheesy stuff from Macy's!
from princessbug :
The only thing I would to say on the whole Affirmative Action is this: It works on paper. However, in practice I believe it falls way short. For Example: Is it fair for an highly qualified white male to be passed over for a job for a non-qualified Hispanic Woman? I think not. I wouldn't even test for law enforcement jobs with my husband because I am not as qualified, but women are wanted in law enforcement and I would get offered something before he did. There is only one female with his department that I would want coming to my rescue, the other 3 are a joke. Affirmative Action? No, there has to be something better.
from katslater :
Yep-- the British pronounce "valet (val-ay)" as "val-it." I suspect this is because valet is a French word, and quite a lot of the British folks I've encountered are not overly fond of France, or anything French. (Talk about holding a grudge!) They do that with quite a few words, actually. Nevermind the indigenous pronunciation-- oh, no. It's their way or no way. (For example-- t.v. news reporters insist on pronouncing Michigan i.e. mish-agin as "Mitch-agin.") Same with Houston-- when they say it it sounds like Hoo-ston. I'm working hard at spreading the gospel of correct pronunciation of American names, but it's an uphill battle!
from princessbug :
I tried to email you, but it wouldn't go through. You can reach me at [email protected]!
from katslater :
I've just finished reading your latest entry pertaining to TranceJen's journal... I am surprised by how angry you sounded. I don't claim to know what it's like to be discriminated against (any more than any other woman does), however I would like to offer another perspective to you. I am referring to your anger over "the misappropriation" of your culture's sacred symbols and traditions... perhaps you could try thinking of it not as misappropriation, but as appreciation. I suggest to you that some white folks (like me) admire and appreciate the beauty and spirit of other people's cultures. Perhaps some of us find our own cultural heritages to be bland, or on the opposite end of the spectrum, to be something we're not terribly proud of. (i.e. racism, slavery, the theft and abuse of Native Americans and their land etc...) What is wrong with expressing a non-verbal desire to be a part of something greater than the Self? And as my Mama always used to say, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!"
from trancejen :
It's [email protected].
from princessbug :
H! Babbling Brook was a name given to me by my folks as sort of a joke. My maiden name loosely translates to "Brook" and I talked alot and very fast, still do! So they thought that would be fitting and funny! Animal Dancer was a name given to me by my Grandfather(Apache) because of my love for animals and the way I am able to peacefully interact with any that I come in contact with. The family doesn't really practice anything, I was the first to take a real interest in the Heritage. I feel a real spiritual connection with nature and feel it is due in part to my ancestors. I'll address more in an upcoming journal for you!
from klutzygirl :
Hi, I just found your diary and one of my favorite books is also What Looks Like Crazy On an Ordinary Day. :) Take Care!!
from trancejen :
I can't imagine what made you decide to unleash your venom on me, but I've sent an e-mail your way. I stand by what I said and don't find it offensive. I'm sorry that you did, and I'm also sorry that you felt you had to attack me in your journal rather than speak to me about it.
from tokcocktok :
Hi there, just dropping in randomly as usual. Hope you're doing well. Happy holidays, by the way :)
from biensoul :
Seriously, thank you for addressing Anna Pacquin's looks because I thought the exact same thing! Safety in numbers, I guess.
from princessbug :
Love the history behind your name! I have two: Babbling Brook & Animal Dancer, though I don't know the Indian translations for either! I am Apache and Cherokee.
from katslater :
Hello! Just wanted to say I enjoyed your survey-- I filled it out at work, a big No-No.
from daises :
Hi! Just wanted to let you know I found your survey and answered it in my diary. Feel free to check it out! Take care!
from emiloo :
I hope you feel better soon. May I make a recommendation? Vicks 44M. Must have the "M" after it (for maximum strength). Everyone I recommend this to thanks me for it. I don't know if it'll do much for a sinus infection, but it will help your cough and clear your head the moment you take it. Just don't drive anywhere if you guzzle a lot of it.
from divamel :
Of course you're perfect, daaahhhhlink. *airkiss* Ans I still love your layout. *BIAAAA-CHOO!* *sniff* Let there be solidarity in sickness.
from princessbug :
Hope you get to feeling better soon!
from gnomad :
My birthday? Hrm .. it's in June; when I expect I probably wouldn't be getting much use from a polar fleece blankie, that's for sure. Ah well, it sounded like a good idea .. lol
from princessbug :
Thank you so much! He came through fine and may even get to go home tomorrow. Thanks for the kind words.
from emiloo :
I loved--LOVED--The Secret History. Donna Tartt's second book, The Little Fried, was pretty good too, but not as fabulous as TSH.
from katslater :
Right, OK. You literally meant their behavior, as in "acting badly." Gotcha. 10-4. (Thanks for clarifying!)
from gnomad :
HAH! HAH! I completely missed Booger Branch. I wonder why the Diva didn't tell me about that? Hrm. Wait. I think I know ... And where's my polar fleece blanket?
from gnomad :
Hmm .. I ask myself that every day. 'What's that nimiiwin done THIS time?' *snicker*
from katslater :
Sorry to hear you've been feeling poorly (nice little British phrase, isn't it?) I'm baffled about something in your list of book favorites... just out of curiosity, whaddaya mean "acting badly" in reference to the Diana Gabaldon characters. Them's fighting words, I tell ya.
from emiloo :
Damn. No pug yet. We're thinking we'll wait until the spring. Right now we're so busy with house projects, and there are buckets of paint and toxic stuff everywhere. Believe me, if I had a pug, I would write about nothing else!
from euphorically :
i love your love list. you are far simpler than your diary makes out. simplicity is truly wonderful.
from thatgrrrl :
No, don't stop clicking on links!! :) How else are you going to find the really cool people? (and vice versa, of course).
from princessbug :
Thanks! Have you read the new book yet? Is it as good? She also has out a book called the "Outlandish Companion." It is sort of like a reference guide the series. Also, The American President is one of my favorite movies, I know all the words!
from ciromazola :
like the new layout, but the scroll's not working very well.
from katslater :
Right on!!
from divamel :
lookin' goooooooooood. Nevermind that Gnomad freak. *hmph*
from gnomad :
wooo. it's still pink, but .. hey, it's an improvement!
from gnomad :
nahhh, see? before you said that, i didn't know you had a no-smoking rule at your house. but come to think of it, i probably shoulda. duh!
from fiestada :
*blush* Hey, thanks! Yeah, we travel in a pack; me, Stancovet, Biensoul, and Katslater. And I see I'm in great company otherwise, with Trance Jen, Poppy, lv2write...so thanks for saying hi!
from misspleasure :
You can stalk me if you like =)
from emiloo :
Aw, thanks! And I bet your orange room is gorgeous!
from gnomad :
Hee .. but .. considering the biblical version of how Jesus popped on the planet; all that immaculate conception stuff and all ... wouldn't it be more accurate to call him 'the half brother of jesus'? Cuz from what I recall about that whole business Joseph had precious little to do with it; 'cept, of course, for payin' the bills and putting food on the table. Huh. Like a lot of guys I know .. ROFL And isn't 'Apathy in action' an oxymoron? Like 'Military intelligence'? *snicker*
from gnomad :
Woot! Gratz on the job, darlin!!
from persimmmon :
YAY! I hate working, but do it 12 hours a day, and feel aimless without it. So, welcome back to the drudgery!
from divamel :
*applausebellswhistlesconfetti* Congratu-freaking-lations on the new job!
from gnomad :
Hah! Actually, I think the idea is to get out BEFORE they kill you - or drive you insane. All that 'character building' claptrap is a buncha hooey .. suffering through a bunch of unwarrented mental torture doesn't necessarily make us stronger; but it certainly shows us what we DON'T want our lives to be like. *foreheadsmooch* Methinks you need an extended vacation .. from all that nonsense. Like, say, about 60, 70 years mebbe?
from gnomad :
Hmm .. yet another temper tantrum? Ok, I'm thinking a tranquilizer dart and a straightjacket and maybe some time in the basement would change her attitude a little bit .. here's hoping you find a terrific job SOON so you can get the heck up outta there. Fly, be free! (And I'm right there with ya, still looking myself, thanks to what gw shrub's done to the economy)
from darrylzer0 :
Bitch & Animal never really made me sit down and say "wow!" but then again, i only heard one of their albums; they did seem like they'd be better live. the Ganja hymn is fucking hilarious, though...i'll never look at "Angels We Have Heard On High" the same way.
from divamel :
Welcome home, toots!
from poppyfish :
Wow, thanks for comforting me about my lack of maturity. I know I'm kinda giddy and ditzy sometimes, but hopefully, I have brief moments of maturity. Well. OK, VERY brief moments of maturity. Maybe if I make up a pretend boyfriend who tries to kill me each night, I'll sound more mature. But knowing me, I'd be more likely to make up a pirate who climbs up into my window each night and brandishes magical flowers at me or something. Yeah.
from poppyfish :
I will ... I'm kinda leaning towards really cheap lipstick right know, because that's what I like Wal-Mart for, but hopefully I can find something a little better than THAT.
from divamel :
Oh...OH! Cheryl Miller! OH! *pantwheeze* She was/is da absolute bomb diggity. For real. Woo.
from persimmmon :
just wanted to say i dropped by an liked your diary. plus, we have the same layout.
from poppyfish :
Hey, I'll have to check the bounty hunter books out, then. I'm sure if YOU recommend them, they can't be bad. In fact ... they must be good. :P

Ah, yeah, season finale of QaF ... I can't wait. Of course, I have to wait, even longer than usual, since I have to wait for my friend to download it, and then wait to go visit him ... but oh well. It will be exciting!

Woot! You goooooooo beeyatch!! (6/12)
