My mom was in a date rape situation before she had me. She was 15. I've always had the utmost respect for her because she had the baby and put him up for adoption. Those were the days when they sent you away to the unwed mother's home with nasty nuns. She went through hell. And she would have done it again. Not because she's a pro life activist or even had strong feelings on the subject (although I certainly do), she did it because it was right. And she couldn't kill a baby because it wasn't the babies fault either. You said it perfectly.
from hamiltonian :
In case of rape.... well this all comes down to putting down that we as a society will let government know whats best. In this instance it means to know RAPE itself. So to know this one better understand how it feels to be raped. Again I so NO NANNIES!

Nonannies is against the nanny big government state eh? Its pro-conservatism eh? But Clinton is more conservative than Bush. Think about it what has Bush vetoed? He hasnt! Hes big governments biggest friend as well as that of the monster called congress. I consider myself a true "REPUBLICAN" as I believe and stand up for a constitutional republic. What we have now is a semi fascist semi socialist welfare state, and an abadonment of the constitutional republic for a democracy led by demagogues. No one heres Bush talking about spreading constitutional republics throughout the world or speaking about the constitution. Why? because in democracies everything is up for a mob rule and vote. That is not so here in in the USA or shouldnt be, as it is illegal! The constitution is here period and isnt going to be voted away PERIOD. Another thing is what happened in your state of Washington that is an American nightmare. More votes were counted than actually cast right? Thats despicable that the results were not thrown out as there are incompatible with any sincere logical counting process to determine the rightful winner. But thats been ignored and America died a little bit more that day and continues to do so. It will only be taken back when people stand up and stop this corruption. People always talk about justice and whats right, but few ever do what is neccasary so that they can obtain it. If one doesnt stand up and are willing to suffer for they believe especially in the case of injustice, then we lose the right. Rights are here only if we stand up for them. Yes we are born with rights but without standing up for them, suffering for them, paying the price of freedom then we lose them and becomes slaves to those who are truly evil and corrupt.

from hamiltonian :
One more thing.. there needs to be another count of the election results. If there is a new election... will Ruth Bennet be excluded? She was the other candidate after all. Her 63,346 votes may grow after the biased argueing between Republicans and Democrats. Otherwise then those voters will be dienfranchised as well. I have a feeling whatever happens it will not be good. Something just doesnt smell good here...

It is truly disheartening that you once again have completely misunderstood my comments. I recommend before replying that you think it over more. I left a comment that I feel is extremely agreeable to you, your political journal, and your positions, with a positive way of dealing with the ills of society and you broke it down as a personal insult. I was not speaking about you directly but how everyone in general who is interested in such can deal with such depressing things. Things like this will make people angry, furious, hateful, arrogant, etc. and I understand why. My motto is the same as yours “Don’t Tread On Me”, but usually you take to my comments in a negative context and reply with a knee-jerk reaction. I understand your position of having that by going about things in a sensible way. That is exactly why I commented on the sensibilities of approach for the ugly world of politics. As human beings we are all "selfish as well as ignorant" at times, this includes yours truly. You’re the one who wrote an entry about how you were disgusted at Washington society, which you feel, reeks of corruption. You stated that you are so disgusted that you feel like moving out of state. Well it’s not just bad there was my point, as this is a problem that you or anyone else can’t escape by going elsewhere as it is everywhere. It is true in what Gandhi said about becoming the change you want to see. This weekend Americans celebrate the life and work civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. There are many whose fight for justice we can appreciate by changing something that was so wrong occurring in America into what makes it so right than other places. Which is that change can occur and justice can in the end prevail. But only if the people make it so, and stand up for what is theirs. One man who stood up in fair, sensible way for all Americans was Medgar Evers. When Edgars was assassinated in 1963, only 28,000 african-americans were registered to vote in Mississippi. Just twenty years later there were over 500,000 and imagine what the number is now. Also consider that the state of Mississippi has the highest percentage of african-americans in the nation with over 36%. This due to one mans fight for justice for all, and his assassination sparked the march on Washington, DC in 1963 where Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his infamous “I Have A Dream” speech. I applaud your calling for a (a non-violent) protest, but please reach out to everyone in the state of Washington. The problem with this election is obvious, there are more votes counted than actually cast. This is more than just a small discrepancy as there is only a 110-vote differential as of now. However if this problem is not answered in a proper manner, all Washingtonians rights will been trampled on and your right to have an election basically is taken away. Meaning that regardless of ones political persuasion, this is the time to stand up for the right to a fair and accurately counted election. Also in jeopardy is whether the state government of Washington will uphold the public trust and good will.
from hamiltonian :
That ruling makes it where if somone photographs someone with a bong or a even a pipe and if you give to a child then anyone can be ste up by another with the help of the state to persecute another. What good came from this? Noithing it was just a witchhunt. Besides smoking a ciggarette is far more harmful than smoking weed, just as taking ritalin is far more harmful than sniffing cocaine. Its an upside down society we live in today. But where will any of us go? Its not any better in other parts. If you think its bad there then move to New Orleans. I would only suggest transforming your anger and hatred of injustice into an energy of another kind, one that is positive that can change your life and others. By letting it eat you and becoming hateful we lose track of the problem. Thats selfish as well as ignorant. So I feel it is the right thing to do is move forward without hate, anger and stay on the subject nand never get sidetracked by letting our anguish to get the better of us.

I agree with you on what has gone on with the Democratic Party. In Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu took office having committed massive voter fraud, when Woody Jenkins should have clearly won. I feel if either side commits voter fraud they should be disqualified, or if they are holding office be impeached. Sadly many republicans do the same so both just trade off slandering one and another. In Jenkins case his own party did not even come to his aide, which shows how low they really are. No one in DC seems the least bit interested in truth and fairness, just money, money, money. It is a disgrace that must be corrected, but as of now neither of those two parties seem interested except for their own biased reasons. Overall it comes down to accountability and today’s politicians are really demagogues whom aren’t held accountable. What has gone on with the last election in many parts of the country, especially in the state of Washington leaves people hopeless. This is a major injustice being carried out to all people in not just Washington, but the entire United States. As for Coulter she can say so many things on the mark, but my criticism of her is that of her hatred. True she has the right to hate all she can, and be an advocate of genocide. That however doesn’t mean that it is all right or justified. Then there is her strong dissenting opinions of then President Clinton such as her strong feelings that he should have been impeached (much of which I agree with), but she says currently that’s its unpatriotic and treasonous to criticize the President, while still spouting about Clinton. If you like her that is fine with me for whatever reason you have. I am just letting you know why I was confused for linking her. I believe you listed her for all the good things she stands for, not for her hypocrisy, advocacy of genocide and hatred. But I thought I why not ask…

I am glad Bush won. Kerry would actually be a sham for reform and is all the way big government. Bush and Kerry are both beurocratic hacks with long family lines of the corrupt institution that has taken hold of the American public. I am anti-big government and a HAMILTONIAN-LIBERTARIAN. I call for non violent civil disobedience against the entire federal government. Public servants must be held accountable on all sides. They openely disobey the our laws and disregard the constitution, and it is time to restore the Republic. The patriot act is unconstitutional and suppoted by both Kerry and Bush. I am pro the bill of rights and the Constitution, not whatver our self elected dicatators say is the policy. They must be kept in check and the syatem is unbalanced and broken. Now we must all stand against this injustice...... Hopefully the Democratic party will never recover from this as they are all corrupt cowards. I PROUDLY Pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

I have another tearjerker: ALI Ismaeel Abbas's story. ALI Ismaeel Abbas, 12, was fast asleep when war shattered his life. A missile obliterated his home and most of his family, leaving him orphaned, badly burned - and blowing off both his arms. With tears running down his face he asked: "Can you help get my arms back? Do you think the doctors can get me another pair of hands? If I don't get a pair of hands I will commit suicide. "I wanted to be an army officer when I grow up but not any more. Now I want to be a doctor - but how can I? I don't have hands." Lying in a Baghdad hospital, an improvised metal cage over his chest to stop his burned flesh touching the bedclothes, he said: "It was midnight when the missile fell on us. My father, my mother and my brother died. My mother was five months pregnant. "Our neighbours pulled me out and brought me here unconscious. "Our house was just a poor shack. Why did they want to bomb us?" He did not know the area where he lived was surrounded by military installations. Hospital staff were overwhelmed by the sharp rise in casualties since US troops moved on Baghdad and intensified the aerial assault. TRAGEDY: Ali was left orphaned and terribly injured in bombing raid Ambulances rushed in with victims, many carried in bedsheets after running out of stretchers. Doctors struggled to find them beds. Staff had no time to clean the blood from trolleys. Patients' screams and parents' cries echoed across the wards. With many staff unable to get there due to the bombing, doctors worked round the clock performing surgery, taking blood, giving injections and ferrying wounded. Dr Osama Saleh al-Duleimi, an orthopaedic surgeon and assistant director at Kindi, said they were overloaded and suffering shortages of anaesthetics and painkillers. The Red Cross has been touring hospitals with first aid and surgery kits. Spokesman Roland Huguenin-Benjamin said: "They were overwhelmed by sheer numbers - during fierce bombardment they received up to 100 casualties an hour." Doctors who treated victims of the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war and the 1991 Gulf War were taken aback by the injuries. Dr Duleimi, 48, said: "This is the worst I've seen in the number of casualties and fatal wounds. "This is a disaster because they're attacking civilians." Dr Sadek al-Mukhtar said: "In the previous battles the weapons seemed merely disabling. Now they're much more lethal. "Before the war I did not regard America as my enemy. Now I do. War should be against the military. America is killing civilians." nEo here's the link: http://www.voxfux.com/archives/00000086.htm

Bush says God chose him to lead his nation Book reveals how President's religious and political beliefs are entwined - and claims he did pray with Blair Paul Harris in New York Sunday November 2, 2003 The Observer President George W. Bush stood before a cheering crowd at a Dallas Christian youth centre last week, and told them about being 'born again' as a Christian. 'If you change their heart, then they change their behaviour. I know,' he said, referring to his own conversion, which led to him giving up drinking. Behind Bush were two banners. 'King of Kings', proclaimed one. 'Lord of Lords', said the other. The symbolism of how fervent Christianity has become deeply entwined with the most powerful man on the planet could not have been stronger. Few US Presidents have been as openly religious as Bush. Now a new book has lifted the lid on how deep those Christian convictions run. It will stir up controversy at a time when the administration is keen to portray its 'war on terror' as non-religious. The book, which depicts a President who prays each day and believes he is on a direct mission from God, will give ammunition to critics who claim Bush's administration is heavily influenced by extremist Christians. Bush is already under fire for allowing the appointment of General William Boykin to head the hunt for Osama bin Laden. Boykin, who speaks at evangelical Christian meetings, once said the war on terror was a fight against Satan, and also told a Somali warlord that, 'My God was bigger than his. I knew that my God was a real God and his was an idol.' Bush has also been accused of a 'creeping Christianisation' of federal government programmes. In September, the government made more than $60 billion available for religious charitable groups. Critics say the groups will be able to use the cash to promote their religion. One group that benefited from previous grants was an Iowa prison project that entitled inmates to televisions, private bathrooms and computers - in return for Christian counselling. Now Bush is likely to face intense scrutiny. The book, The Faith of George W. Bush, was written by Christian author Stephen Mansfield. It details numerous incidents where Bush's faith has been shown to be at the centre of his political thinking. Among Mansfield's revelations is his insistence that Bush and Tony Blair have prayed together at a private meeting at Camp David. Blair has previously denied this. Mansfield, however, says that, while there were no witnesses, aides were left in little doubt as to what had happened. He told The Observer: 'There is no question they have shared scripture and prayed together.' The book also shows that in the lead-up to announcing his candidacy for the presidency, Bush told a Texan evangelist that he had had a premonition of some form of national disaster happening. Bush said to James Robinson: 'I feel like God wants me to run for President. I can't explain it, but I sense my country is going to need me. Something is going to happen... I know it won't be easy on me or my family, but God wants me to do it.' In another incident, Mansfield recounts how, on Palm Sunday last year, Bush was flying back from El Salvador aboard the presidential jet Air Force One and seemed to be destined to miss church. Bush agreed, and soon 40 officials were crammed into the plane's conference room. The service was led by National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, while the lesson was read by close Bush aide Karen Hughes. The author also proves anecdotes about Bush that had previously been dismissed as false. Rumours that he had prayed with a young soldier who had lost a hand in Iraq were thought to be myth, but Mansfield tracked down witnesses and a hospital chaplain who said that Bush had prayed with the man, ending by kissing him on the forehead and telling him he loved him. 'For me, that sums up Bush's beliefs. He really believes Jesus is taken up in his heart and soul,' Mansfield said. · A woman rammed a car carrying her children, aged three, five and eight, into a building where Bush was campaigning in Mississippi yesterday. Betina Mixon, 29, was dragged away at gunpoint and charged with aggravated assault.
from theyknew :
The Revelation of St. George "God Instructed Me to Strike Saddam" By CHRIS FLOYD So now we know. After all the mountains of commentary and speculation, all the earnest debates over motives and goals, all the detailed analyses of global strategy and political ideology, it all comes to down to this: George W. Bush waged war on Iraq because, <I>in his own words, God "instructed me to strike at Saddam."</i> This gospel was revealed, appropriately enough, in the Holy Land last week, through an unusual partnership between the fractious children of Abraham. The Israeli newspaper Haaretz was given transcripts of a negotiating session between Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas and faction leaders from Hamas and other militant groups. Abbas, who was trying to persuade the groups to call a ceasefire in their uprising against Israeli forces, described for them his recent summit with Ariel Sharon and George W. Bush. During the tense talks at the summit, Bush sought to underscore the kind of authority he could bring to efforts at achieving peace in the Middle East. While thundering that there could be "no deals with terror groups," Bush sought to assure the rattled Palestinians that he also had the ability to wring concessions from Sharon. And what was the source of this wonder-working power? It was not, as you might think, the ungodly size of the U.S. military or the gargantuan amount of money and arms America pours into Israel year after year. No, Bush said he derived his moral heft from the Almighty Himself. What's more, the Lord had proven his devotion to the Crawford Crusader by crowning his military efforts with success. In fact, he told Abbas, God was holding the door open for Middle East peace right now--but they would have to move fast, because soon the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe would have to give His attention to something far more important: the election of His little sunbeam, Georgie, in 2004. Here are Bush's exact words, quoted by Haaretz: "God told me to strike at al Qaeda and I struck them, and then He instructed me to strike at Saddam, which I did, and now I am determined to solve the problem in the Middle East. If you help me, I will act, and if not, the elections will come and I will have to focus on them." You can't put it plainer than that. The whole chaotic rigmarole of Security Council votes and UN inspections and Congressional approval and Colin Powell's whizbang Powerpoint displays of "proof" and Bush's own tearful prayers for "peace"--it was all a sham, a meaningless exercise. No votes, no inspections, no proof or lack of proof--in fact, no earthly reason whatsoever--could have stopped Bush's aggressive war on Iraq. It was God's unalterable will: the Lord of Hosts gave a direct order for George W. Bush to "strike at Saddam." And strike he did, with an awesome fury that rained death and destruction on the mustachioed whore of Babylon, with a firestorm of Godly wrath that consumed the enemy armies like so much chaff put to the flame--and with an arsenal of cruise missiles, cluster bombs, dive bombers and assault helicopters that killed up to 10,000 innocent civilians: blasted to pieces in their beds, shot down in their fields and streets, crushed beneath the walls of their own houses, boiled alive in factories, ditches, and cars, gutted, mutilated, beheaded, murdered, women, children, elders, some praying, some wailing, some cursing, some mute with fear as metal death ripped their lives away and left rotting hulks behind. This was the work of the Lord and His faithful servant, whom He hath raised high up to have dominion over men. And this is the mindset--or rather, the primitive fever-dream--that is now directing the actions of the greatest military power in the history of the world. There can be no doubt that Bush believes literally in the divine character of his mission. He honestly and sincerely believes that whatever "decision" forms in his brain--out of the flux and flow of his own emotional impulses and biochemical reactions, the flattery and cajolements of his sinister advisers, the random scraps of fact, myth and fabrication that dribble into his proudly undeveloped and incurious consciousness--has been planted there, whole and perfected, by God Almighty. And that's why Bush acts with such serenity and ruthlessness. Nothing he does can be challenged on moral grounds, however unethical or evil it might appear, because all of his actions are directed by God. He can twist the truth, oppress the poor, exalt the rich, despoil the earth, ignore the law--and murder children--without the slightest compunction, the briefest moment of doubt or self-reflection, because he believes, he truly believes, that God squats in his brainpan and tells him what to do. And just as God countenanced deception on the part of Abraham, just as God forgave David for the murders he ordered, just as God blessed the armies of Saul as they obliterated the Amalekites, man, woman and child, so will He overlook any crime committed by Bush and his minions as they carry out His will. That's why Bush can always "do whatever it takes" to achieve his goals. And by his own words to Abbas, we see that he places his election in 2004 above all other concerns, even the endless bloodshed in the Middle East. So what new crimes will the Lord have to countenance to keep His appointed servant in power? Chris Floyd is a columnist for the Moscow Times and a regular contributor to CounterPunch. Oh - did you hear? The draft reinstatement was slammed - 402-2 - and the two guys who wrote the bill, Rangel and Hollings, even voted against it! They didn't want it to go through the House until 2005 - AFTER the elections, so as to get people not to vote for Bush. They didn't really want it after all - but once Michael Moore started spreading it around at colleges, the House pushed for it to be voted upon, which Rangel and Collings vehemently protested, but lost. Finally, they voted against it because they didn't really want it. There's your update on that story!

I like Michael Moore some, though I also disagree with much of what he states. One thing in Bowling For Columbine was that he stated "white" people went over and by themselves just started taking "black" people from their homes and families. This is complete bull of course, as Hillary Clinton was told on her African slavery apology toour by leaders there. They stated "We sold our own people, and your ancestors bought them". Both are guilty for the horrors of human slavery. Michael moore should tell the truth on that but just amplifies racial problems mislading people like that. but while I support the right to own guns, I do feel Moore has a point that American Culture is far too violent. But we dont need big brother government on ourt back to make it that way. Especially not by taking the weapons we defend ourselves with.
