I agree very much with your assessment of love. It is better to have love and lost than to have never loved at all... Do remember though that love is just a description, and that life is but a reflection of your choices. The Matrix, in the third segment, is quite correct in saying that love is a description of the connection between you and another. It is how much you care about the choice you have made to describe that connection that is love. Yet they got one thing wrong, because Paul did have it right when he said that love is the greatest. The Architect claimed that hope was the source of greatest strength and weakness in a human, but that is not correct. It is a source of strength, but love is from God, and I would very much like to see someone attempt to sever that connection. It is an impossibility to sever something such as that, as it is to sever the connection between a husband and wife, a parent and child, or true friendships. So, yes, we should love and really live, not live and forsake love.
