Hey, have you read any Gene Wolfe like I told you to? I"m tellin' ya! You'll like him a LOT. Try The Book of the New Sun....Maybe you can pick it up over the summer...it a doozey in size. Untill then, maybe a short story anthology. Try Stories from the Old Hotel, or Strange Travelers. Both have so great stuff in them. Ok, this is the longest note in history, so I'll say goodbye. I think you're right about the new story. I need to decide about going with "she" or "it" and make it consistant. I started writing the story about six weeks ago, then put it down. When I started writing it again, I started writing "she," but I though it would work. Oh well, sometimes expperiments go horribly wroing, and you end up with a deadly plauge who, if released on mankind, could cause davistaion unlike this world has ever seen.

I'd just like to note that the hole where you shove the stuffing on a turkey is NOT the rear. It's where the neck comes out. They just cut the whole thing out and pull all the guts, crop and neck out. So you have this big hole when you're done. Just lok at the thig...you see those two silly, pointy little limbs? Those are the wings. See how they are closer to the hole then the drum sticks? The drum sticks are the legs. Silly girl.

I suppose you're right, in some ways. Poetry can be as illusive as it is revealing, but I hadn't considered that. As you said, many of the great poets are vibrant and expressive about thier feelings. I try to be the same way in all my work. It's a form of expression, and that's that. In my opinion, this is where truely great poetry comes from. If you can express yourself concretely, well... concrete experiance is the only way we can gain empathy for one another. So, draw a metephor, paint a picture, as you say, that everyone can look at and say, "God, I really know what she must have felt when she wrote THAT." But, to each his own. Your poetry is good, and I wouldn't want to spoil it with my lofty ideals. Not that you'd let me, I'm sure.

Thanks for the kind words. You're not bad yourself. I would venture to say, however, that poetry, in many ways, is a revealing art form. I find it interesting that you have a complex about revealing yourself, but you choose to post your poems.
