Hi Portia, I updated earlier with news but I just returned from seeing her this afternoon. She is doing really well, very little pain in her surgery site. She has pain in her back but I fought it out with the nurses to get her something for that and she was starting to feel better before I left so by now she should be doing pretty good. She is still in ICU and they are just taking it day by day on that, but her mood was good and she seems almost like her regular self. I will go again tomorrow so if you have any thing you would like to say to her, just send me an email and I'll take it to her. If you have already sent one, then I took it to her this afternoon.

If you get a gold membership (you can even get it for just 3 months or so) you can get a printable log of all your entries in one HUGE file (that you can then print or put on disk). I'd suggest that! I know about that addiciton, facebook rocks my socks too much in the day!!

Thanks for the reality check today. It hurts my heart a little, but I really needed to read that blog, thanks! Oh, and you know, when Solei was born I was hysterical for a while - my life was completely different, my body was a complete wreck and I couldn't even imagine sitting in the front seat of the car anymore (I was always in the back trying to calm her down). But you know what, my body is almost completely back to ormal, the punds shed and I feel much better. I guess it's getting in the swing of being a mom in America that's getting me confused and impatient. But I promise I know lots of people with far less cracky lives that had a much easier transition time! Thanks for all the notes and love:)

I'm SO bad at small talk! My problem is that I can't think of anything to say. I have friends who can just so easily strike up conversations and it makes me so jealous. My trick is to ask the person a ton of questions about themselves, but then I sometimes get annoyed if they don't return the favor and ask about me. Of course it could be because I'm asking them questions at a rapid fire pace! My friend and I used to joke that we would be so great if we could have an IV of beer at all times. Not to be sloppy drunk, but just buzzed with a bit of liquid courage. Not sure that's a good idea though!! Hope you're doing well!

That sounded like a horrible accident. It's frightening to witness something like that, I hope he was okay. I once witnessed a car drive off the side of the road, and flip over twice. The passengers were thrown out of the jeep. One girl had a shard of glass lodged in her throat and I had to calm her down while my friends called 911. It was 3 A.M., possibly the most terrifying moment of my life. She died 6 hours later in the hospital. It's sobering when you realize how fleeting life is and how quickly something can occur to take it all away.

The Taming of the Shrew was so well done!! You would have loved it - I was laughing out loud so many times. The actors were brilliant. I studied Shakespare in university and have read quite a few of his plays....I enjoy them. :) Your paper sounds interesting! I like the sounds of it! I wrote a paper in my 3rd year comparing Dracula to Hannibal Lecter, that was interesting! LoL.

That bulletin had me laughing. Unfortunately I'm one of those idiots that often mess up "its" with "it's", I also tend to say "alot" as one word unless "a lot". Actually, My diary is just a huge collection of spelling errors and grammatical errors that I don't bother to fix. I agree completely, we ARE all responsible for our own happiness. There were a lot of messed up things my father said to me during my teenage years, but I can't fall back on that and blame him for who I am today. I just have to keep moving ahead and let it all go. haha! I loved the lionking version, I was cracking up! As for sushi, imitation crab works fine right out of the package. As for other fish, it's good to have it checked out before you use it raw. I know the basis of sushi is raw fish, but unless you know a lot about fish and can tell if it's good or not. It's best to stick to "Smoked" fish. Just to stay on the safe side. There are some sushi dealers that sell raw fish that has been approved. I usually use cooked crab and smoked salmon, or semi-cooked shrimp.:).

What makes me most frustrated about things like Live8 is that, while, the intention is good, and admirable, it is in no way realistic. Africa will continue to be the way it is as long as its own people are destroying it. My feeling is this: the genocide in Rwanda, the massive AIDS outbreak... those are terrible things. But they're not going to go away anytime soon, no matter how much money or "awareness" we throw at them. The majority of Africa's leaders don't want their country to be civilized. Otherwise, they would have to relinquish their stronghold over their people. At least that's my opinion. And I really can't stand St. Bono screaming about it everyday on television. Funny thing about St. Bob, isn't it? Just goes to show you can make yourself whatever you want in front of the cameras while the world is watching, and be someone completely different behind closed doors. Man, is the longest note ever? Sheesh! :)

Thanks for your note. But Corrie's Kieran isn't a negative portrayal of an Irishman! He's a much loved character! If the English don't like the Irish, it's because of the IRA. They hate us so much and are so desparate to separate themselves from us they are willing to bomb our shopping centres and other public areas to show it!! It's a shame America aren't aware of the appalling suffering England have put up with from the Irish "war" for the past 30 odd years! You said you admire the Irish for staying positive after all they've been through, but do you ever think about what they've put us through?????? See, I can watch anything. And I generally love crappy movies. (Most of the time. Sometimes not. Like, for example, Uptown Girls = very very bad in a bad way.) So I'm not a good movie judge. If Mean Girls existed in a world where Heathers had never existed, I would think it was a great clique movie. But since Heathers does exist, Mean Girls is merely good. Any friend of Vego's is a friend of mine. I just read your critique of the new Tarantino film. Haven't seen it, but don't need to to realize it's all about seeing how much gratuitous violence can be crammed into an hour and a half without making the audience throw up. Well, I shouldn't say that. Maybe the motivation IS to make people throw up, avert their eyes, whatever. It's entertainment--I guess. Anyway, Uma looks good. That's all I'd need to know.
