Just because someone dresses like a boy (ie: layers) doesn't mean they're hiding something. Maybe that's what they find comfortable. I dress like a guy sometimes, but it's just because I like their shirts. Men's shirts are very comfortable and a heck of a lot less restricting than women's.

Okay, this is a tough one, since he's in love with the girl. When you're in love you can't think straight....so here's my advice to your friend.
1.) Talk to this girl and see what's up. Ask her how she TRULY feels. Hell, put her on the spot, in FRONT of all of her friends (you'll get the truth out of her most likely if you do it that way) and say to her,"HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT ME?? DO YOU LOVE ME OR NOT? TELL ME NOW!!" (trust me my guy friend did this to his g/f, and the truth came out. she was only using him).
2. If she refuses to tell you, in front of her friends, then something's wrong. Either a.)she does love you, but can't say so in front of her friends or b.) she's being a bitch.
3.) Once you find out, decide for yourself from there. If this girl is only using you, for God's sake, GET OUT OF THE RELATIONSHIP!! Yes, you may be in love with her now, but trust me. There will be a thousand more girls later on. A girl who will treat you like you should be treated...

Oh, I'm so sorry things aren't going that great for you right now. A couple years back, I was really depressed too. I was depressed about school, friends, boys, you name it. I even tried to kill myself. Luckily, my mom found me in the bathroom while I was cutting myself with a razor blade. She didn't take me to counseling, but she did tell me this:
"God gives us only what we can handle. And sometimes the world turns it back on us. But that's no reason to turn our back on the people who do care about us. We've all got meanness in us. But we have good in us too. And the only thing worth living for is the good. You have to hold on like hell to what you've got, and don't worry about the bad things that in a few months or years, won't even matter in the long run."
I hope I've helped you. And I'm really sorry about your great grandmother. I hope you'll be okay. I'm sure you will. You seem like a strong person.
