I'm an editor for a company that puts out business research materials (mostly 50-300pp books). My degree is in English. Some editors have a background in journalism also. Depends what you want to edit. If you are leaning more toward newspapers or magazines, journailsm may be the better option. If you are thinking book-length materials or research, English may be a better choice. If you don't know, I would suggest taking a variety of English classes that encompass writing, grammar/language, and literature, and maybe a journalism class or two on copyediting, layout, Quark/Pagemaker/InDesign, etc. If there is a particular field you'd like to work in (business research, legal publishing), you can always major in that subject and take a few writing/editing courses as electives. I also was a writing tutor at my school's writing center. Doing something like that, working for the school newspaper or university press, or finding an internship/part-time job with a publisher is great experience. Good luck!

I recently upgraded to a Kodak DX6490. Still learning all the settings, but I'm really happy with it so far. And you're right to be cautious of those "photo contests." One of my friends took this gorgeous photograph, entered it in one of those contests and they told her she was a finalist "but in order to recieve her prize, please attend our award ceremony...cost to attend is $500 per person." YIKES.

Hello Kim, the same thing happened to me and David,(not being in someone's yard though)at the liabrary once, i didn't know that you couldn't be in the parkinglot in a locked car at 8:00 on a tuesday night, and the bad thing was i didn't have my license, and I was the driver, but luckly since we were parked there were no charges, but the police man thought david was like 30 something and it was terrible, and i was so completly scared...but i tihnk i told you this story already, maybe twice already, but i just wanted to let you know that NOBODY knows about the being in parks after sundown, cause the same thing happened to ilse at ridgeferry, so that really only leaves us the option of going home....whcih sucks, when you....well it just sucks....heh.. love you kim. hilly

Every night after I brush my teeth, I chew a stick of sugar free gum. If I go to sleep shortly after brushing my teeth, I'll take the gum and put it on my CD player (or any other convenient object) and chew it again the next morning...and if you chew extra, it won't stick to the CD player OR be too hard to bite! Isn't that horrible? That's like the girl from the " Miracle of 34th Street" that we watched in Mrs. Myers room. It's not gross, just different! Maybe you can give to Santa Claus one day. Acutally, Christian is Atheist, I am a Gnostic Christian, and his mom is Catholic. LOL So yeah, didn't really want to get into any of that. It doesn't cause any problems between us at all, but I certainly didn't want to get into that stuff with his mother...bad news! ;)

Okay, first off, thank you for leaving me a note and trying to get me to accept Christ. I appreciate your concern. Although it was no help at all. I DID accpet Christ and believed in God once. But that was when I was younger and it was all I knew. Now that I've had the chance to research and think about life, I just don't believe it anymore. I feel that religions are nothing more than a handicap. I think that people should do good in the world and live justly and honestly, but not because that's what they've been told to do by their religions. They should do it out of sheer love for mankind, and because it's the right thing to do. You don't need to do good things because God or the Bible says you should; you should do them because you truely want to. .... I have told my dad about the way I feel and he understands and respects my decision, because that's the kind of person he is. Now, I can't tell my mom, because she won't understand. I know you're thinking, "Oh she might. You should just give it a try and hope for the best." No. My mother is NOT the kind of person who can fathom such a thing. She'll think she failed me as a mother, and that I want to be a satanist or something absolutely crazy like that. She loves me and honestly thinks that this is the best thing for me, but it's not; being Catholic is tearing me apart inside. I can not be part of a group that feels people should be sent to hell for eternal suffering just because they didn't have the strength to believe in something they couldn't see. And I REFUSE to be a part of a religion that condemns homosexuals and feels that they are unclean and beneath us. Look it up in the Bible it's there. And some of the nicest and most wonderful friends I have are gay or bi and I can not shun them just because they can't help who they like. It's not right. Just because your "faith" tells you something is right, does not make it true. We should all have our own individual morals that we ourselves decided upon. ... And yes I do suppose I would be much happier pretending I loved God and Christ, and just be clueless all together. But now that the option is out there on the table, I can't just ignore it. I KNOW what I feel is right, and this is it. I will countinue to donate my time and energy to my community. I will continue to be fair and kind to EVERYONE. I will be as honest as possible. I will not have sex until I'm married. I will try my hardest to respect my parents. I will continue to excel in school. I will always be open-minded. But I will not and can not pretend that everything is okay with being a Christian and a Catholic.
