from wickedcrazy :
rufie, where are you? how are you (both!)? Did you see that scarlet johannson (or whatever) is making a record of tom waits songs? that sucks. I hate her and her retarded vacant fish face.
from mugwhump :
Thank you for your note. Much appreciated.
from mugwhump :
Thanks for your note Ruf'. It's always wonderful to hear from you. I hope that you two are doing well and staying out of trouble.
from robot-army :
Aucun besoin de faire des excuses ! Mine est bien plus mauvaise. Beaucoup de pièces sont vivantes, oui, mais comme une horloge sans avec une partie... les choses manquantes ne sont pas tout à fait identiques. X
from wickedcrazy :
your comments aren't showing up! Anyway, I love the hair cut. You look like youre about 5 yrs old, which is great by the way! I'm very very excited for you and Bee. :o)
from robot-army :
AHOY THARR! I be the artist formerly known as a danglyfoot. Arrr. Love ye. x
from mugwhump :
Inquiring minds want to know ... How are you? Are you married yet?

It's me! Betty (sanetwin) at my new place.
from danglemyfeet :
RUFUS. I AM BACK! I missed you horribly =) x
from saru-san :
Your "Freezer Goulash?" It looks **really** nasty!!! And yet... kind of tasty, too. Actually, I'm wishing I had a big ol' plate of that right now.
from wickedcrazy :

from meli-melo :
That damned seed stitch is killing me! That is I am having the exact same problem you and Bee are having right now.
from wickedcrazy :
oh man Rufus. I hope she keeps that comment forever. I can not stop laughing. I cant believe I MISSED it. Cunt Bluntly. absolute greatest. Thank god I have you to catch these things for me.
from justjano :
Glad to hear that Bee's brother is getting better. Babies are the greatest aren't they?
from justjano :
Did you cut your hair? Looks fantastic!
from gumphood :
You're monktastic for adding me. ... oh god.
from sanetwin :
I hope all is well for you and that you are feeling better. I've been thinking of you :)
from justjano :
Ahhh all those great pictures from "home". Where abouts are you guys moving? Congrats on being able to do laundry anytime you want!
from justjano :
Hope you feel better!
from justjano :
My friend Jesseca in Victoria made the best lentil walnut burgers...love your menu.
from wickedcrazy :
Just left you a comment!
from liquidhuman :
While the collective curling hive mind is somewhat disturbing to me, I totally dig the matching track suits! Yessss!
from justjano :
AAAH you live in the best BEST place ever! I miss it everyday of my life. I used to live in Cook St. Village--are you far from there? One of my cats is a Victoria native...
from justjano :
Where in BC are you? I used to live in Victoria, Vancouver and Whistler....I love Victoria!
from justjano :
LOL about your comment on galaxy's site. I am from quebec--and they can think their french is a dialect but real french is so much better. Nice to meet a fellow Canadian.
from serapay :
the paycheck cashing saga continues--the bank wrote zig a very suspiciously vague letter informing him they are closing his account, basically because they can. when pressed, they mention nothing regarding the checks or anything. my theory is that they think they're fraud, or they made a mistake by even taking them. it really sucks, because it was his only source of income. we'll find out on thursday if the bank is going to let him keep it. now that's a bread sandwich! i'm happy you're using the phrase. haha
from grlscout :
Thanks for the note Mr Monk, I like your journal too. I hope I haven't put you to sleep with mine - pretty dullsville around here as of late! Cheers! :: Scout
from sanetwin :
Merry christmas rufus and bee :)
from danglemyfeet :
Brilliant, sir. You are brilliant.
from sanetwin :
I saw a banner with Rufus on it today!!! *gasp* I don't want to share! lol
from sanetwin :
Yay for good things!
from laura-jane :
Tea and chicken soup? Warm washcloths on your forehead? I wish we could help. Does knowing that you're going to (eventually) get a tiny Christmas card from Quadra Street to yours help a little? I hope you are alright.
from josquin :
I hate being sick! Even worse is being sick and having to do stuff. I sometimes think that now I have a steady girlfriend, if I had a pair of lungs that actually worked properly I would want for absolutely nothing. Nice idea, but probably not true... hope you're in good shape nice and soon!
from sanetwin :
It is thanksgiving here in the States. I just wanted to let you know that I'm thankful for you writing and I'm thankful that I got to 'meet' you here on Diaryland. Have a wonderful day.
from comma-abuse :
I am an idiot and forgot to tell you Happy Birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! YOU CAN SLAP ME IF YOU LIKE!
from peasantwench :
So I'm at work, poking through your archives, and drinking tea. I cam across your entry about tea from some time ago, and must say: lovely! You're so right about that Murchies #10. I bought some this summer when I was in Victoria, and will be beyond sad when it runs out. I was also relieved to know I'm not the only one with a very large tea collection - about the only difference is these days my bodum press normally makes up delicious loose tea and the espresso maker languishes unused. PS - Happy (slightly) belated birthday!
from laura-jane :
Just for the record, you better hurry up and post a new entry before I leave yet ANOTHER comment on your most recent entry. I have left six comments now, six (6)! This is beginning to enter the realms of embarrassment, shame, and downright confusion.
from mugwhump :
Oh Ruf' I tried to slip by your place today to drop a very little sompin' off, but shopping with hubby took longer than anticipated. Keep you eye on the mail, and I hope you have a marvelous day today. Happy ?whatever? anniversary of your 19th birthday! Cheers and hugs - LJ
from galaxyrabbit :
HAPPY BIRTHDAY RUFUS!!!!!!!!! 'tis your birthday, and as such you get the happy birthday song. happy birthday to you/happy birthday to you/happy birthday dear rufus/happy birthday to you!!!
from twinsie :
Happy Birthday!!
from sanetwin :
Happy Birthday Rufus Monk! I am so glad you were born today :)
from oddsfish :
Your birthday? Your birthday! Oh how happy a birthday it shall be, dear monkie. My many congratulations on making it to 27 all in one piece. And welcome to your late 20s! You've got the heart of a child, please keep it. :) Much love.
from laura-jane :
Greetings! Congratulations! Salutations! Am I bombarding you with birthday cheer? It is entirely possible. I was going to leave you another comment, but...again with the comments from me? There would be two in a row--again? For shame. Happy birthday, Rufus.
from artofliving :
my dearest rufus...trig is threatening the death of my sanity once again. may i please have your help on this trig take-home test i'm working on? i need your e-mail address to send it to you. pretty please. you're so awesome.
from ludovic :
the worst thing about discovering great new bands is if you are broke like me you hear them at a friends place, you obsess over them... you visit your firend a lot just to hear the band. And then they release their next albums so you buy that one, and it's not nearly as good as their last one...
from artofliving :
thanks rufus!!! you rock socks!! i'll make you a trophy! hehehe!
from mugwhump :
Hi Rufus and Busy Bee - salutations from California. Did you get my postcard yet? Just a quick stop at my brothers - so took the time to check in. Cheers - LJ
from sanetwin :
rufus, thank you so much for the wonderful, kind, fantastic, uplifting comment. Thank you :).
from artofliving :
GAH!! thank you so much!! I really need that right now! I feel good about it. Those fuckers. The creation of the resume' is going fabulously, also. hehehe!!!
from artofliving :
thank you honey bunny!! you know i aim to please so i'll find more interesting things to take pictures of and show you. perhaps that britney spears look-alike at school. she's a stripper. it's awesome
from ealaspada :
Thank you, rufusmonk, for your kind words that you wrote a while back that I am just now responding to. I also wanted to tell you how much a love your juxtaposing photos with your journal. It's something I had been toying with myself until I realized I completely lacked all the essential computer skills. You, I see, have mastered it beautifully and are doing a fine job. Thanks again, and thanks for sharing your entertaining journal!
from artofliving :
ahhhh...thank you sweet rufus. you have made me a happy happy kitten. your payment is being sent express. No cupcake? I'll get the kind with the My Little Pony rings on toppppp!! smooches
from twinsie :
Hey Rufus, I'm planning a trip to Seattle in november and was wondering if you could tell me where you stayed and how much it was? Would you recommend it? We're looking for cheap but not scary. :) Thanks!
from artofliving :
thank you rufus. it means alot to know that somebody thinks i'm doing a good thing. and i agree, relationships do take alot of work but it must be MUTUAL otherwise it will fail. thanks for being so kind
from laura-jane :
CalendAr! CalendAr!
from laura-jane :
In case you don't check this often, I am referring to Thursday the 16th of September in the year 2004, by Gregorian calender standards.
from laura-jane :
Information: Jack Layton, Carole James and Jean Crowder of NDP fame will all be at UVic at the Grad Lounge this Thursday around 3:00 PM. I am not sure whether I will go (probably not), but I figure it is my duty to inform political fans such as yourself of this great meeting of the minds. I am not sure what the occassion is, but it seems to coincide with Clubs Day. (In case you were wondering, I do now feel like a high-brow campus maven who struts around inviting certain selected steeds to Phi Beta Capa events.)
from artofliving :
Ohhhhh!! How happy it makes my little heart to see that you understand my despondency over your sparse updates. My condolences about your newfound handicap...if I worked for the DMV, I'd TOTALLY get you one of those stickers so you don't have to park in Egypt when you go to the grocery store.
from mugwhump :
Are you feeling better these days?
from oddsfish :
for some reason, I can't seem to leave comments anymore because it freezes and hangs and does weird things. So now I will just leave you a note. I really really wanted to say that I have that shirt that bee is wearing, and that makes me like her even more! haha. Glad you updated, missed you.
from sanetwin :
Gargamel is one of my cat's names. Good choice.
from meli-melo :
Yeah, I feel a little guilty because part of my student loan is going to this camera (they calculate in under the "books" section) but I have wanted a digital camera for so long that it seems almost criminal to take out money for something so fun!
from participant :
Oh now I want to go to the Science Ficion museum too!
from josquin :
Strange... I can't seem to get your comments working. Anyway, my idea for the perfect crime is at a urinal. You wait until a guy has just started, then you run off with whatever it is of his that you want. He can't chase you without disgracing himself. I'll never try it though. And didn't that kid realise that expelling nitrogenous wastes is a two-handed job?
from bebeskid :
you got some purdy lips thar boy......hey...can i steal your legs overlooking lake picture.....but super impose my legs instead? Let me know. B.
from artofliving :
i am honestly flattered that you added me to your list. Thank you.
from pumpkinhouse :
Thanks for the comment you left at my diary - I find you to be highly amusing (and I don't mean that in an Eddie Haskell kind of way) as well.
from galaxyrabbit :
rufus, you are so totally one of my most favorite people ever.
from lintpickle :
You know what? AC/DC WAS playing. Damn, you're good. It was Shook Me All Night Long. Yessir. Thanks for the compliments! It was a fun time. And Karin does love her David, despite his abysmal air guitar.
from cdghost :
i enjoyed your diary much so
from josquin :
I vote for bare-faced, because you don't have to pussy-foot around any facial-hair-features when you're shaving, plus it takes several years off your appearence...
from mugwhump :
Me again - I really like that profile shot of you. I like the ethreal look to it. >LJ
from mugwhump :
Hey Rufus, I tried to leave a 'comment' but it told me there was an error on the page. Sorry - no insight here. Also - I didn't go to my 10 year either. I did have my mom get a hold a the "class" photo taken during the reunion. What a hoot - I hardly recognized anyone, and all the men where bald. Whatzup with that? It had only been 10 years!!! Cheers - LJ
from lintpickle :
Hey, those were really great things you said about me in your profile. Thank you!
from twinsie :
Rufus Monk you rock! Thanks for pointing out the missing code to me. I guess trying to change code 2 hours after I should have been asleep last night wasn't the best idea. Anyway, thanks to you it is working now! Yay!Thanks a bunch!
from twinsie :
Thanks for your help with the comment section on my page. I used the link you suggested and it looks like it worked. Yay! Thanks again!
from laura-jane :
Ohayo (Good Morning, in Japanese. Or so Google contends), First of all, I think I am getting far too much excitement out of our antithetical schedules. Thank you for the paper-writing support, I am now through the witching hour and am nearing home plate, so the worst is over; its been a long day though (and still is). Also, thanks for the heads-up (second sports catch-phrase in 100 words?) about my page being bizarre. It looks fine on my computer, but I don't think that this means anything, as I think I am just viewing it locally. It's very possible that there is something wrong, as my computer has been acting bizarre all day. Thanks, I shall check it out (read: leave note for Cam in morning). Enjoy the dawn..!
from mugwhump :
Thanks for sharing your thoughts (note) Rufus. I always find it interesting to hear about other peoples thought processing. Ya know?
from meli-melo :
Jimmy Stewart is my all time favourite actor. I can watch Mr. Smith Goes to Washington over and over again and get emotional despite the patriotic BS just because it is Jimmy's patriotic BS and that makes it okay. Why did you make t-shirts that said Meli-Melo on them?
from mugwhump :
Alright Mr. Monk Sir - you can blame Firemind and Laura-Jane, but I too am now a convert to your site. AND a fellow Victorian. I've enjoyed your writing and look forward to hearin/reading more. Cheers - LJ
from firemind2 :
i forgot to add that you've been linked again. I keep reading you so I linked to you from my blogger blog.
from rufusmonk :
Thanks, you two. I do appreciate the encouragement. And I definitely welcome comments. I am still really unsure of what my next step should be. I just know I must make some step or implode.
from firemind2 :
You got your first "piece of paper" so you know you can do the work. Keep thinking about the future and something will come up. Keep writing in you journal, keep writing period. I never went beyond listening to others advice (ie - writing is for others...etc). I wonder where I would be if I had stuck with it. Your journal looks better (I use 800x600). Now all you need is a guestbook or comments. (just a suggestion).
from laura-jane :
Not a boring entry in the least. It is very easy for me to say, 'Do it, Rufusmonk', and so I will. However, I suppose it is you who has to figure out what the 'it' really refers to. More on this later. I am thoughtul (in the literal sense of the word) about this.
from rufusmonk :
Thanks, firemind! Just using good old Microsoft Paint... Very limited, but very uncomplicated.
from firemind2 :
Hi, You're right about not getting to choose nicknames (except in cyberspace). The 'clean' names I was called I didn't like even if I could tolerate them. --- What are you using to paint with? Your cartooning is great.
from rufusmonk :
Yes, yes, accuracy is my forte... And it is not just a robin's egg, it is a GIANT robin's egg! The large but not giant-sized canary(?) is merely a surrogate parent. Modern nesting practices, you know...
from laura-jane :
Note how in the zombie picture hair and beard are different shades entirely. Also, is that a robin's egg?
from firemind2 :
Welcome to Cyberspace. I found your diary via Laura - Jane's. I read it and enjoyed it. Your camera may be a small one but the pictures are good. I wish I had a digital. Isn't the breakwater at Ogden Point something? That area is one of my favourites in James Bay to walk to. If you want to touch up your journal do it before you add too many extra features or you will have to redo them. Check out the Journal Writer links page (http://leonline.diaryland.com) for ideas. If you find the site useful leave a note in the guestbook. The site is one of mine. That's all for now. I will link to you. - firemind.
from laura-jane :
Hooray for the activation of notes! A few thoughts: the train Zoe is a completely different Zoe, I am sure; I believe her last name was Jewel, but of this I am not entirely certain. However, the Zoe N-S.C you mentioned absolutely rings a bell, although I feel that a male N-S.C is more what I remember? It seems that there was once a male N-S.C who was somehow involved in Parksville playing guitar in some manner, although that is reaching into the far back recesses of my memory. Names are strange: I never would have thought another 'Laura-Jane' would be living in Victoria, but--behold--I have met one. Also, poignant tea entry! What is a Venus transit?
