I don't think you need to keep yourself plugged into the internet 24/7 to blog. I think all it takes is a desire to share your thoughts. Talking to people, at least in my mind, is second or third place on my reasons for being online. Sure it's fun to talk to people. But since I left The Game, I find that my blog is this tool that allows me to not only sort stuff out in my head, but to allow my friends to know what's going on with me as well - since we can't always talk to each other when we want ;)
Blog when you can, and when you can't, don't. There are no rules.

I know exactly what you mean about the writing and editing and job searching qualifications...sigh, it's endless. At least i'll go back to university next year, finish my degree and hopefully a few extra courses to wedge my foot firmly inside the door.
