Thank goodness those kids are already receiving treatment. They may be the examples other teens need to believe they can be brave enough to seek help.

I know Mate is being incredibly supportive but she needs to understand there will be time for cooperative therapy but, just for right now, you need to have the therapist to yourself. Reassure her this process is new to both of you and the professionals will know when the time is right. Good luck. I am positive her motivation is to help you become stronger.

Just caught up on all of your entries... and I am wishing you all the love and strength in the world. I admire you for taking the difficult steps to sobriety, and I admire your beautiful wife for having the strength to stick by you through this too. I have kind of been on both sides of the issue, and I just believe that you two will make it through this and be stronger for it. Love you, hun.

Whenever there is a war going on the bad seems to gang up and ping at you where you're most vulnerable. I think the only way to fight it is to surround yourself with positive people, honesty and prayer.

People always argue with me for believing in God's plan. Personally, I find it quite comforting to think He's in control, especially since if it were up to me I'd only screw it all up (as we all know).

It's strange. A friend and I had a conversation about forgiveness and she brought up an interesting point. When asking for forgiveness, you have to be prepared to do pennance. You know, wear your scarlet letter for a while. It's the part of asking forgiveness we're most terrified about, but if we love the person we asked forgiveness from, it's something we have to accept.

Food and music works for me. I found three new songs this past week that have been theraputic. I'm also working on finding healthier things to eat, which is hard considering my favorite foods are beef and anything non-vegetable. (Potatoes have been relocated to the beef food group)

You are doing so well. Keep looking toward God, Mate, the children and then look in the mirror and know you are worthy of a great life.

No need for me to be what way exactly? I simply left a message relaying the fact I had identified you, without revealing that identity to everyone else. And I've been there, remember? I've made that plain almost from the day I flung open the doors of my life for all to see on the net. I wouldn't be so presumptuous as to say I've seen it all, but I do have a good idea how the mind of an addict works, meaning that I know there are moments of realisations when someone realises they have reached their limit and want to change their life for the better, or when they are cynically playing for sympathy. If you fall into the former category, then I wish you nothing but the best of luck. If you fall into the latter, well, I don't really need to say anything, do I?
