| ok, so now you need to ask your family for physical/emotional support...talk to your mom and sister about it, because who better to understand you than another woman. right? ;) once you have someone backing up those positive feelings/emotions that you so desperately need, you'll start believing them. (negative reinforcement works the same way- but POSITIVE reinforcement is a million times better for you ;) heh). It's really unhealthy of you to be so hard on yourself...try to turn that around...and your outlook on life will turn with you. Concentrate on the GOOOOOOD things- not the bad/sad/hurtful things. I'm not saying let people walk all over you, or ignore your/others pain(s)- I'm saying, look on the "bright side of things"~ there's at LEAST one in every situation. try to find it... Ok, so now you have sit back, think about what/why your parent's say what they do, and why they act the way the act- it's most likely in your best interest...think about it. Your parent's DON'T hate you. Maybe Nancy's answer/question was more validated than your's. This struggle in your family will always go on, unless you realize why things are done/not done. | you are what you believe you are. People tend to pick up on the weaknesses of others, ie:you bashing yourself and feeling sorry for yourself all the time. In the wild the weak are either left behind and the pack goes on, or they are eaten. I'm not saying you're an animal, but it's a good analogy to think about in your given situation. If you get down on yourself all the time, and tell people how "worthless" you think you are, they'll start to believe it, even if it's untrue. Stop spoon feeding yourself and everyone around you all this crap about how you have no purpose b/c it's a bunch of sh*t and you know it. You're at a point in your life where things are uncertain- that's normal, you're young and things aren't supposed to come clearly into view for awhile yet. Boys are fine, but believe me, they're not the only thing to life. ;) I know, I've been there. Your mom says those things, most likely, to try and motivate you to get things done, be good, etc etc. And I can only say that because my mom did it too, and ocassionally, still does. It's negative reinforcement-to get you mad, to get you to take control. We were never promised happiness in this life, only in the next- don't expect happy feelings to fall into your lap. Make your own, be around positive people, and keep walking. Life goes much to fast to sit in the corner and sulk. So get out there and enjoy life, even through the cloudy days! :) katie |

| It's healthy for your family to have dreams for you; however, it's unhealthy for them to force their dreams on you. You're young and have plenty of time to decide what you want to do. No pressure. There are people in their second, third year of college that STILL don't know what they want to do. You're not alone. You have to make choices that are good for you, because in the end, you have to live with the after effects (good/bad). Think about what YOU like to do, get a lot out of, get vindication from and go with that and take it as long as it will. Your dad wanting you to be a lawyer- is most likely because it was a dream of his that was never fulfilled. Tell him to focus on your older sister for awhile, she's closer to making those kinds of decisions, and can take ahold of her own dreams. One step @ a time... katie :) |

| A) Don't apologize for things you didn't do, or for how people feel...& 2) People that are supposed to be "friends" and that treat you poorly- aren't really friends at all. If you continue to apologize for things you have absolutely no control over (ie- people's emotions or how they feel on a certain topic), they will take advantage of you and walk all over you like a doormat. | it'll go really fast, high school, that is. and before you know it you'll be elsewhere and the memories of high school will be mostly faded away. nobody's perfect, but everybody is somebody. it doesn't matter what you look like-you could be brittney spears, christina aguillera, or the hilton sisters~ anybody & everybody will be quick to judge. unfortunately, that's how the world works. don't take it to heart, shrug it off. all that matters is what you believe about yourself- everything else is just fluff (or "stuff"). It's kind of like babble or filler in a story- it's not necessary, but without it, the piece would fall apart. people live off conflict~ try being different and seeing yourself, others, and life in general, in a positive way and things will eventually all fall into place and get easier and easier along the way. :) ~katie~ |

Try thinking light-heartedly. | Sorry I have not signed your guestbook much the last few days, but I have been having some strange guestbook problems lately. I have not been able to sign any ones. It keeps saying that I can not sign again because I signed too early, and it ALWAYS tells me this, even if I had not signed or tried to in a few days. I have no idea whats wrong with my computer. |

| No, I never ran away from home with my boyfriend, and I'm glad I didn't. He ended up with my best friend anyway, and they had a baby 2 years ago. I'm happily engaged to my boyfriend of 4.5 years and will be getting married next september. My advice to you: don't run away. Life is hard enough through the growing up stages, hell- it's hard now on my own in an apartment and in college. I know your parent's may seem like pains in the asses right now, but honestly- it's because they love and care for you. don't make choices you'll regret later on...i know that's easier said than done- but you'll be greatful later, believe me. don't run away. there are other choices. :) katie (email me if you want to talk) |
