Still here, still reading... How are you, Ten-o? The toilet voodoo thing was interesting. I can't believe it could change anything beyond your own attitude (my scientific mind doesn't permit it, really) but I have to say, if that's all you have to do, we probably all know somebody we'd like to try it on!

I hope you got his info just in case.. Many people agree to pay out of pocket, never to be heard from again.

Hey there! Thanks for saying such kind things about my essay. I'm glad it didn't bore the pants off you. Keep it; do what you like with it... I'm just glad to have been given a topic to write about, and to have had a chance to tell the world that a cross-dresser is not necessarily a lunatic. (Although some of them can be very stupid, as when I made Lucy's life so miserable, years ago.)

Well, if you've got a flask of coffee to hand, you can read my answers to your questions. My longest post ever, I think! Your questions were classic Socratic method: briefly stated, but hard to answer. You caused me to dredge up an answer that I didn't even know I knew! So I've learned quite a bit about myself over the last 24 hours. Thanks. x

Thank you for your kind words. I believe prayer can lift us up as well. I tend to pray a lot for others, but sometimes when I start out to pray for myself it seems more of a conversation that definitely leaves me more encouraged than when I started. My friend is coping best he can, I am praying for all involved. I also know how thoughts can evaporate when the humidity becomes so opressive and as you say "the body is dense". The mind is no longer sharp. Here's hoping you get a break from the heat, and from that panic of unknown origin.

(Digging back a few entries...) I can really relate to the idea that material goods limit your freedom. I am blessed with the trappings of wealth, and cursed too. Standard of living versus quality of life. For example, my wife and I have three cars at the moment. (Four, if you include a little craft project of mine that's in pieces.) Today, I must do some work on one of them, and spend money on it, to comply with the law. I haven't actually driven it since the new year. Equally, my wife still has her old, pre-marital house, stood empty. We spent the weekend clearing out junk and redecorating it. If we had less _stuff_, we'd actually have more quality time together! But I like to have money. Money gives you the potential to say "screw your job" or "let's go to Iceland" at any time. It's hard to suddenly go to your boss and ask for a massive raise; better to steadily increase your income over a number of years, even if you don't need it... because one day there might be kids, and all the expense that's likely to involve. I think it's best not to take money too seriously, but then as Howard Hughes said in 'The Aviator', "You don't worry about money because you have it." That's my thoughts on material wealth, anyway. One less thing to worry about. Incidentally (getting back up to date, and your current entry), I seem to recall a one-liner that "Depression is anger without enthusiasm."

Hiya - just popped in to say hello, having seen you round at Man's (fromVenus). Don't give up your lack of lust for material things - it can only make you less happy, surely? Best wishes x

Okaaay, I answered your questions (as best I could) with today's entry. July 19th, that is. Hope it makes sense!

Hi, Ten-o. Interesting question about the portrayal of women in the media. One that I want to do justice to with a whole article, rather than just a comment on a notes page. Can we tackle it in a day or two, therefore? BTW, the mosquitoes in South America are the size of small biplanes... but the bites of New Zealand sand flies itch worse.

You're right about Marmite. Even the company themselves had to run an advertising campaign that admitted 'you either love it or you hate it'. As for the evolutionary thing, isn't that amazing? Give it a few thousand years, and every abnormality we observe today will either be shared by all, or gone forever... to be replaced by a new set of mutations. Oh dear, I think I just called myself a mutant. MFVx

hello. Yep,I think you're probably on the mark about some being more susceptible to the itching caused by bites and more than likely your supplements act as a blocker. It's funny to me how so many people from different backgrounds appear similiar. I guess that's where stereotypes come from. As for stimulating conversations, they're much easier to have with people that are new in our lives as they don't have this vast shared history. It's the same in my marriage as my wife and I rarely have any real intense conversations as we seem to know each other too weel or we already know what each others opinion on a certain subject may be. With someone new you get a new perspective and often it's pretty interesting. As with old Brooklynite and his food stamps, everyone has a story. Some are just more willing to share theirs. Here's hoping with both run into more people willing to share themselves with us.

Vitamin B is offputting to mosquitoes, so you can keep them away with Marmite. (Which might be Vegemite, depending where you live.) Don't worry, you don't have to smear it all over your skin... just eat a little. Of course some people would rather have malaria than eat Marmite...

Thank you. Real? I never thought of myself as otherwise, but I suppose there are people out there who make themselves out to be someone they're not. Funny, I never understood that. Anyways, thanks for stopping by as well and feel free to say "hi" anytime.

hello, I stumbled across your page and found your views of poverty, money and the cost of a favour quite interesting. I would have to agree with you on everything I've read especially the lack of money stemming from our attitude towards it. Would like to stumble back again if you don't mind. Take care.
