I have the same plague you do. it's moved out of my throat and into my nose now, and I can't get to lay down so I can go to sleep!
from mangofarmer :
Ooooh, I can't wait for "Across the Universe" to come out in theaters here!
from webcatrobin :
neti pots are great. I get far fewer sinus infections when I use one semi-regularly
from mangofarmer :
I'm not a huge Jane Austen fan, and "Becoming Jane" didn't do anything to persuade me along those lines either. Or maybe I was also distracted too much by James McAvoy, I don't know. ;) Did you see "The Last King of Scotland"? He was very nice to look at in that movie as well.
from mangofarmer :
*applauds* You really should publish that somewhere.
from mangofarmer :
Happy Birthday tomorrow. :)
from ska-t :
y'know, they tell me it's supposed to be such a joyous season... but that damned longest night of the year concept is kicking my ass in a serious fashion. it certainly seems like the Season of Entropy, to me.... but don't take my word for it, Tari. hope the ice breaks for you, soon.
from webcatrobin :
mars in retrograde. is that why I want to kill something?
from ska-t :
Angels and Demons was far better than Da Vinci Code. he should have stopped there. stay sane, Pagan Girl!
from ska-t :
and i thought you'd disappeared to Nashville or something. preferably Abbey Road. "hi", regardless.
from aislin-dream :
I love the new layout. Great entry - I love doing all those things, too. It's really easy to get caught up in the day-to-day garbage and lose taking time for oneself. Adult obligations can be exhausting! Oh, and Happy Belated Birthday!!!
from ruvoryn :
I love the new layout (the street and the stormclouds, for future reference). It's beautiful and dramatic. :)
from webcatrobin :
damn I am due in evanston to see an office at noonnnnnn. you should SO post this to chireclaim though, you rockiola!
from ruvoryn :
Wow... an entire choir of your voice... I'd love to hear that! :) Did you and River and Jen ever do a chant cd? I want one! ;)
from webcatrobin :
can I have a copy of that mix tape?
from skibigsky :
As for recording in the nude... Well, in this day and age, it's totally possible. I have a series of photos (that won't ever get shared) of Mr. Volatile in the nude, reworking the guitar solo for a song that he and his band recorded 10 years ago. It's digitally recorded, so he'll just send the track to his mixer (part of his band) and they'll work it in - despite him being 600 miles away (and in the nude). Isn't technology great?!?

from skibigsky :
Maybe you've just been restless because you haven't found anything/anyplace/any person that suits you yet. Not trying to make any judgements, just offering an opinion. I wish you luck, and look forward to hearing how things go.
from webcatrobin :
holy crapoly batman! tell me more!
from webcatrobin :
very eloquent thing about the exes.... and it's hard because no matter how much I say "really, I'm here, call me".... I don't know how much anyone wants to call someone who's been where they are... but are suddenly, seriously, in wuv myself. yes, wuv. it's SO dorky!
from webcatrobin :
"this house is a no drama zone". shields. down time. I spent the entire weekend doing down-time-with-the-boy. and it was wooonderful! videogames, movies, hangin out, sleeping, cooking, other stuff. and I feel much better. pay yourself first in the attention department then your well won't run as dry. but I feel your pain.
from skibigsky :
"Stop calling me Shirley" Heehee. I've haven't heard/used that phrase in probably years, and then it popped out yesterday (to much giggles and guffaws), and to hear it again today brings out many more! BTW, good luck with things!
from webcatrobin :
hey chicklet. no beating yourself up for not being cheery. I mean, beating yourself up for not being positive? doesn't that defeat the point or something? Gimme that stick!
from river112 :
Hee hee. My divination-geekiness just loves that you figured that out.
from aislin-dream :
I hope you now realize that smart people make mistakes, too. Smart people are not perfect people (especially at 17) and not all birth control methods are 100% effective. I obviously don't know this woman but realize that she sacrificed a lot for her child - would you have held her in higher moral esteem had she aborted?
from webcatrobin :
what happened? I'm concerned. look me up on AIM if you want to talk.
from ruvoryn :
I'm sorry you're hurting. I'm still around, though slow to respond... if you need an ear... (hugs)
from river112 :
Ooh... New Year "Intentions", I like that. And I'm thrilled that you put out an intention to enhance your daily practice! Way to go!
from river112 :
"Solstice is the light at the end of the tunnel." Amen, sister. Here's to finding your way out. With any luck, I'll meet you there.
from river112 :
Wow. Your "year in retrospective" really brought back a ton of memories for me. Thanks for letting me be a part of your life this year, and I'm looking forward to many more to come! By the way... I have to run some errands this afternoon. I'll bring along a big red bow just in case I find a hot guitarist in a kilt.
from webcatrobin :
I twinkle you on the rough patch of not getting things done/needing to, and the restlessness. I'm also gonna remind you that it might be extra rough due to the grief-y stuff too. I hope for world peace myself, but right now I ma working on peace of mind.
from river112 :
I believe that you're coming out of this rough patch - and something amazing is waiting for you on the other side. (Then again, I also believe that World Peace is possible...) Hang in there... this dark time of the year is always a downer for me too. Amazing things are about to find you. I'm sure of it.
from webcatrobin :
i twinkle your disdain for the day-job. I wonder if end of year sucks cause you're in insurance, ramping up for beginning of year enrollment? or izzat too practical. and I would love to hear more about the class, and the horrid singing... and posting in your journal about *secrets* is a TEASE! may the economy be good enough for both of us to work on our own biznesses.
from willow-rain :
tee hee, i'm with you on the geeky astrology stuff. Whenever lots of big things happen, that's where I go. And then I consult the Tarot for my everyday dramas. I just waded through my Saturn return and am dealing with the repercussions of it all.
from webcatrobin :
grins and giggles with gleeeeee! thankyou! drop me a note in my lj (catbirdgirl) if you want me to reflect it back atcha.
from willow-rain :
Thanks so much for the post on getting over the gloom and doom. The earth has been here for so long, and the actions of people are but a tiny piece of it all. If the worst did come, people would just destroy themselves. The earth would heal, and life would continue. It was really nice to read your perspective. Thanks!
from webcatrobin :
hi its me web- why do I rock?
from river112 :
Wow... thanks so much. Big hugs to you. And you're next, my pretty!
from zencelt :
Oh man! That never happens to me. You and I must have the same taste in delicious men.
from river112 :
Let's hear it for a happy Mercury Retrograde. I'm willing for it to be a good one if you are.
from skibigsky :
I've got the same sleep issues. But it's poodles, not cats. And for reasons that are unexplained (to me, at least) the poodles have decided to sleep on MY head (and, of course, growl at each other over the choicest real estate) rather than the Significant Other's. How did this happen?
from sixweasels :
Amen, sister. I couldn't have said it better, and not just because I'm all talked out.
from savecraig :
I'm still trying to figure out how the CTA has a 100 million dollar hole in their budget. 100 million!!!, come on now.
from sixweasels :
I'm so sorry to hear about your nephew. You're in my thoughts. Hugs.
from skibigsky :
I' so sorry to hear about your nephew. That's never an easy thing to deal with.
from river112 :
I am so sorry to hear about this, and I wish I was in Chicago right now to help support you. Many, many hugs. I love you and am thinking about you.
from aislin-dream :
Terribly, terribly sorry for your loss...just awful.
from zencelt :
: (( I'm so sorry about your nephew. ((((Great big hugs))))
from mangofarmer :
I'm so sorry about your nephew...
from ska-t :
glad you happened by... i'd been wondering how your guitar callouses were shaping up. as well as all things Tari. survived a Big One... though they didn't do so well at work. matter of fact, the pressroom on the other side of the wall now has a moonroof!
from river112 :
I came out with Neo-Pagan as #1 too... imagine my relief. :) Although Quaker came a close 2nd. Who knew?
from skibigsky :
I had to share this because I thought it was such an interesting exploration of beliefs. I actually tend to be a neo-classical pagan (sorry, I've got a FIRM belief in the snow gods - people think I'm kidding, but there really is something beyond the 'pray for snow' mentality). Still, fascinating. A great entry today, BTW. I don't have the space here, but bashing someone else's faith to promote another one is just mind boggling to me. I think you expressed these thoughts really well! 1. Neo-Pagan (100%) 2. Unitarian Universalism (79%) 3. Mahayana Buddhism (74%) 4. Liberal Quakers (68%) 5. Reform Judaism (68%) 6. New Age (65%) 7. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (61%) 8. Secular Humanism (57%) 9. Theravada Buddhism (52%) 10. Hinduism (51%) 11. Taoism (46%) 12. New Thought (45%) 13. Jainism (44%) 14. Nontheist (44%) 15. Bahá'í Faith (41%) 16. Scientology (41%) 17. Sikhism (39%) 18. Orthodox Judaism (35%) 19. Orthodox Quaker (30%) 20. Islam (28%) 21. Christian Science (Church of Christ, Scientist) (27%) 22. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) (26%) 23. Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (25%) 24. Seventh Day Adventist (16%) 25. Eastern Orthodox (13%) 26. Roman Catholic (13%) 27. Jehovah's Witness (3%)
from river112 :
Wow... thanks for sharing your experiences of the class last night. Powerful stuff. I think it's amazing that particular memory from elementary school came up. There's got to be something there.
from mangofarmer :
I like that reality show idea. Can I be on the show? The "poor graduate student goes to the dentist" episode? :-D
from skibigsky :
We've all got a long way to go, so don't let that get you down. You've come a long way, and you should be damn proud of yourself!
from lilibelles10 :
don't get english classes (sorry)
from lilibelles10 :
yea, I am 12 and I should know how to rite better but I have been in mexico so.. I dont english classes, oh well
from lilibelles10 :
hey how old are you? Iask because you are a lot like me, why? because I love the movie princces bride and I like shakspear cool huh?
from mangofarmer :
My cat doesn't like blinds to be closed when she wants to look out the window. So eventually there gets to be a cat-sized hole in the blinds. :)
from mangofarmer :
Seriously, laughing until I'm crying random link of the day: http://www.starterupsteve.com/swf/this_land.html?
from mangofarmer :
Dorky Arthurian reading??! What were you reading?
from river112 :
Hey... I'd be happy to talk with you about the Norns/Wyrd Sisters/Moirae - they're some of my favorite deities to work with, and I've got some good resources for you.
from ruvoryn :
I know I can talk to you whenever I want to, but I wanted to tell you that your current entry (coming out of the broomcloset, etc) made me get all teary. It's tough, and you're doing so well. I'm proud of you for living as authentically as you can, even when it means you have to push those comfy boundries. You're amazing!
from river112 :
By the way... I love what you wrote about why this community calls to you. Very powerful. Thanks so much for sharing it!
from river112 :
YES!!! I knew it all along!
from mangofarmer :
Woohoo. Now that was a sermon I can believe.
from ska-t :
hey, grrrl... you voice my sentiments, exactly. puppets belong in the theater. or Saturday morning TV. "Mission Accomplished" my ASS. consider me tagged.
from mangofarmer :
Me too. I'm going to put one (maybe two, I can't decide which I like best!) on my diary here in a minute. :)
from sixweasels :
I'm in ... one of your graphics is (proudly!) displayed on my page.
from mangofarmer :
Happy Birthday! :)
from aislin-dream :
Happy Birthday to you! Enjoy your day, you deserve it.
from mangofarmer :
I don't think I've looked at your picture page before (I'm lazy). Anyway, Samwise is adorable!!! :)
from ska-t :
good to see that you're "back". i was afraid you'd set out for the wilds, for good. even more screwed up when it involves your ordeal with broken bones (esp. the location)... isn't there an old remedy for "knitbone"? barre chords and electricity... GOOD!
from skibigsky :
Cats do seem to be rather selfish like that - no sympathy for the sick, and they expect to be played with on top of all of it.... Of course, those concerned looks they give you when you groan in pain make it all worth it, eh? (Maybe that's just my cat - and she's used to me moaning in pain!) Hope you are feeling better!
from mangofarmer :
Ahh music.... the ultimate crack. :)
from mangofarmer :
Well, if I lived anywhere remotely near Chicago, I'd ask if you needed a flute player. ;)
from mangofarmer :
Aww, come on. Don't just leave us hanging like that! :)
from wyndhover :
in re: trusting where you shouldn't... someone quite wise once said 'He who trusts can never be betrayed; only mistaken'. I've always taken quite a bit of comfort from that quote, so there you go, for what it may be worth. ;)
from mangofarmer :
You. kick. ass. Period.
from ska-t :
don't fret, m'dear... that's the way charts work. big rush at first, tending to pissy afterwards. you got the spark, dammit. feedback is constructive (and good for the ego), mostly... but you gotta move forward with what you think sounds good... and screw the criticism. "those who can, do. those who can't..." are critics, you know. when your music goes to radio stations, maybe you can stress a bit more. i'm glad you're still keeping the focus. don't hold your talent hostage.
from mangofarmer :
Cleveland?! I am so sorry...
from ska-t :
well, Cleveland DOES have the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame... and a kickass alternative radio station, around 91.1 on the dial, WRUW. it is a tad whitebread, otherwise....
from skibigsky :
I think that you've just hit on the Asshole Theory of the Universe. I actually think you've got an irrefutable truth, really.
from aislin-dream :
Not sure if you're into online shopping but I really love daddyos.com. They have lots of cool retro-y stuff, including pencil and A-line skirts/dresses. I don't know if that's exactly what you're looking for, but my experiences with them have been fabulous!
from mangofarmer :
That is a kickass list. :)
from skibigsky :
That's okay, I was working on my fanfic (I'm bored, what can I say?) yesterday, and discovered that if you mistype 'knickers' you get 'knockers' - I thought it was hilarious, but no one else seemed to think it was particularly funny.
from skibigsky :
I'll say a prayer to the Phlegm Gods (yuck) for them to go elsewhere tomorrow night. Good luck, and I LOVE 'House of the Rising Sun'!!!!
from mangofarmer :
Cool stuff. There needs to be mangofarmer apparel. If only I had a scanner... heh.
from mangofarmer :
Gah. I feel your pain. Day jobs suck.
from ruvoryn :
I love to hear (read) you ramble. :) <hugs>
from skibigsky :
Oh wow! Major press people, huh? That is AWESOME!!! I am so excited for you!!!
from mangofarmer :
Yay for gigs. :)
from mangofarmer :
Mmmm, John Mayer. *drool*
from mangofarmer :
Aww! Samwise sounds adorable. :)
from mangofarmer :
Amen, sister. So where in Canada do you recommend moving if the a-dubya-lypse happens?
from skibigsky :
Yay for being in the technological dark ages! I'm not alone! Although I don't think I could give away the old dot matrix printer if I tried....
from skibigsky :
Tee hee. I've always been a firm believer in the notion that size counts. The statement that size doesn't count was invented by under-endowed guys. I'm convinced of it!
from mangofarmer :
I finally updated my buddy list. Yay. :) Anyway, what is this Cranium everyone keeps talking about? It sounds like a fun game.
from skibigsky :
I'm a big fan of trying not to hurt people while having as much fun as possible, and I think it comes down to a question of who will get hurt more - the other person, or you, for not chasing after what you want. And even after you've logically sussed that one out, you still should go with what your heart is telling you. (Now how's that for taking things too seriously?!?)
from skibigsky :
Definitely get a cat. They are the greatest source of entertainment going. Although mine doesn't quite lick my face when the alarm goes off - she likes to pounce on my head about 15 minutes before the alarm goes off, and then talks to me until I drag myself out of bed. Still, the entertainment value is well-worth the early morning wake-up calls!
from mangofarmer :
Thank you. :) And yes, get a cat. I miss my kitty.
from skibigsky :
I sort of felt that way when I got my first cell phone. However, the only people who have my number are my parents, and my boss. In addition, I don't keep the phone on, unless I am using it or expecting a call - it is much less of a leash that way!
from sixweasels :
So, what are you close to? I can't remember exactly where the Marriott is. Sorry I didn't write back earlier - things have been uber-spazzy. Are you near the water? There are TONS of good places to eat and grab a beer right there if you are. Hope you are enjoying A-town!
from sixweasels :
I love the new look ... change can be a very good thing. Congrats on the continuing coffee house successes!
from mangofarmer :
Mudslides? Simon and Garfunkel? Of course it's normal to be passionately in love with life in the presence of such goodness. :)
from mangofarmer :
Yay Tesla. :) Granted I think I've only ever heard their remake of "Signs", but still, I liked it. Woo.
