I'm so sorry to hear it! Please do let me know when you have a new "home," so to speak...Jenn.
from leftunspoken :
I'm sorry that happened sweetie. Let me know where you'll be so I can check in. Be well!

I had friends who lived on either Pierce or Booth, I don't recall. (Don't let the past tense scare you - they're still alive!) They bought a house on the south side, down in Bay View. Pierce is a real border street. A few blocks east and you're close to Humbolt and a lot of apartment buildings full of students, etc. Not bad at all. A couple blocks west and you're on Holton in some pretty rough territory. But Riverwest in general is pretty cool...down and out in places, but o.k. You might get some leering, hooting and whistling, and perhaps some offers best left unaccepted, but it's getting better. If my friends lived on Pierce then it has an alley running behind the east side of the street. If you've a car you might be accessing the place via the alley, which can be a bit scary. You ought to be fine, though...Elanore and Edward liked it well enough.

What a filthy bugger...why does Anni stay with him? And what's the neighbourhood? I may have lived there or know about it...there's not much in this city that's downright dangerous, so you'll probably be o.k. North and Fon du Lac...sketch city. The Downer area can be bad for rape...there are streaks when college women need eyes in the backs of their heads at night...that or a big, big dog.

It can be tough to believe that any man (or woman, you know) is decent when every relationship you've had is proving otherwise. But, honestly...how old are you? You've dated what percentage of the entire male population? I knew a guy who was deeply racist because every encounter he'd had with African Americans was negative...he lived in Racine and gone to a very integrated high school, so he considered his sampling large enough. Of course every encounter depended also on his frame of mind, what he brought to the situation, and even if he'd personally met with every African American in the state of Wisconsin he'd still have a rather small percentage to work from. But his experiences had been negative (no telling how the people with whom he'd had run-ins would report the matter) and he'd made his decision. Anyhow...spooning is definitely worth the trouble of finding a decent mate. I'd be leery of anyone who said he was going to "protect" you, but spooning - oh, yeah.
from bethel1467 :
very nice writing. you always have a well tempered turn of phrase. thanks bethel1467

Hi I was over at aaronorear's page and saw you listed as one of his favorites. I can see why. Fine writing. I'll be a frequent customer. all the best
from aaronorear :
Sadly it's not sticking, no matter how frigging cold it is...

Hey there from a fellow 19-yr old college student. I hear ya. I just stumbled across your diary, read the latest entry and liked your style. Then I read on to your 100 things and realized we are a lot alike. Especially with the bad grade school experience and our take on sex for people in love. I got the same thing when I took the Emode Inkblot Test - I'm driven by Peace. Hey, hopefully you can check out my diary sometime. :)
from aaronorear :
ALL you have is Tolstoy, Chekhov and Dostoyevsky? Well, aren't YOU the moron...that's more than most Americans read in their lives and you're, what, 19? 20? As for not being any good at orderly narrative, read some James Joyce...he didn't bother with order (or narrative, some might suggest) at all.
from thecritic :
Wooohoo college. Umm that's all I really had to say haha
from aaronorear :
picky, picky, picky...blonde AND not suicidal? You're asking the moon, there...
from aaronorear :
See, smiling at the end of class was all wrong...you should have shouted something obscene from your window as he walked past. It seems an unlikely method, but it must work, or why would people do it? I don't know who the comic was, but she said she wouldn't mind catcalls from construction workers if she could see just one marriage that came about as a result..."Mommy, how you and Daddy meet?" "Well, I was walking along, minding my own business, when suddenly your Daddy shouted the most disgusting thing at me. What was it, dear? Something about wanting to eat his lunch off my chest."
from mojo-pin78 :
Psycho X gf stalker who keeps reading my diary...blah! Most likely I'm too lazy to move it. But I hate censoring myself. On the other hand I hate having people camp themselves out by my car to wait for me to get off work...it's a tough call.
from aaronorear :
Have I missed something? Do all guys simply walk up to women and ask for sex? Am I the ONLY one who has been bothering with dating at all? I am so hopelessly stuck in the 50's.
from leslieirene :
Hey there...thanks for taking my "random" survey....even if you said "pooh" at the end! Blessings Always, Leslie Irene :)
from aaronorear :
The beauty of revising a poem is that you can always change it back!
from aaronorear :
April 16th...that's beautiful.
from beagle47 :
^^^^^^^^^^^^ not a morning person. thanks for the nice thought and, peace. (i really mean that).
from aaronorear :
I've no idea how others might answer your (admittedly rhetorical) question...here's my take. God doesn't NEED us, He wants us. He wants us to enter into his presence because He loves us...and this is love that goes beyond human "what have you done for me lately" standards. Heaven isn't floating on clouds or banquets or any of the other things people have used to describe it...heaven is always feeling loved - completely and entirely loved - because you are in the presence of God. People worship God because in some part of their life they've experienced a tiny portion of that love, filtered through another person, or through an encounter with great beauty. It's such an immense feeling that the only proper reaction is to give thanks and praise. We've been invited, over and over through history (and in many forms, says the ecumenically minded Episcopalian) to share in that all abiding love. We have every right to turn away and reject that offer - God doesn't want slaves who turn to Him by force. Anyhow, that's a short, quick and dirty answer. Mind you, I was an atheist for many years, so I know how obnoxious people can be when they try to convert you...that's not what I'm about. But you posed the question, so I figured Id put in my two cents.
from aaronorear :
couyple?
from aaronorear :
I actually did post some Greek as an image a couyple days ago...but thanks for the suggestion anyhow! It was so good, I took it before you even offered it! Keep your chin up during the mess you're going through...and remember that a look of loss on his face is an acknowledgement of how precious a person you are - if he only sees that when you talk about leaving, then perhaps it IS time to move on.
from aaronorear :
Oh, and ditch Case For Faith...it's a fundamentalist nightmare of a book. If you're really interested, try C.S. Lewis - Mere Christianity. His social politics are a bit dated (his take on gender belongs in the 50's when it was written) but his theology is clean and sound, and doesn't insult your intellect.
from aaronorear :
It's alarming how many Milwaukee residents are diarists...spooky...
from khseaman :
Sorry he had to go. I know how you feel. Hope the roommie situation gets better, I know how that feels, too.
