Someone once got on to me for "writing to an audience" but I don't see the harm in that. I'm sorry I've not responded to other posts before now. It's been a very busy semester. And that is only the beginning. You are loved, even if it doesn't feel like it times. Remember that you are His. No one else matters. In Him, Zee

How are you Amy? I just caught up with online diary reading because I've been so busy with work ever since I returned to Singapore. I'm sorry to hear you haven't had a summer job, just enjoy the summer then and find ways to serve the Lord! Oh yes, I've had a marriage proposal - from someone I met in Canada 6.5 years ago!! He's the best man I've ever met - will update you soon, so hope to hear from you in the meantime! @--J--- 22 July 2009

I haven't updated/read buddy list diaries in weeks! How have you been? You're teaching? As in voluntary, part-time, casual, or fulltime? How're you finding it? I'm experiencing a big change in my life & I'm thinking of a teaching career too, but because I've been down, I'm a bit less confident about my skills. I'm really not sure what career path to take, I just feel like trying out a bit of possible careers before deciding! However, because application deadlines are just around the corner, I should apply for something of interest just in case jobs are hard to find in Vancouver - which is where I'll be moving to mid-year! @--J--- 18 March 2009

my diaryland diary is not a blog but is blue. my non-blog has the blues, being not a blog like it is but it is blue, just because. just because it looks like it has the blues, does not mean it has to sound like it sings. maybe it does, or maybe it will, or maybe it can go in circles, smaller and smaller all the time, dwindlingly so…
it had a dream. a blue dream. not a bad dream, but many or few of those dreams of blue, a dream of blue, a dab. dab dab dabba do!

I kinda developed an attitude problem myself, while at college. I still did the work on time, but my heart just wasn't into it. You have something in common with my friend Isis. She's also a fan of the Twilight books. When I get curious enough 'bout Forks, maybe I'll read them. Most books I read, don't take place in my state. Did you send out a lot of Christmas cards? I have, and I'm not done yet! My Thanksgiving was fun. Spent it at a friend's house, and got to select what I wanted to eat. Turkey, sweet potatoes, fruit, pie, mashed potatoes and gravy....

Major problems. At least you are asking yourself now... When I was an EC-4 major, it took a miracle to get me to realize that wasn't where I was supposed to be. Don't stress it. God will reveal Himself when you need it most (though you may not realize it.) It's really cool how he works things out. I like getting notes too. People never leave them for me anymore. :P I can't open up my diary to the public because it's got a lot of private stuff in there, but I sure miss getting notes from random D-land people. ~*~ Yeah, I'm 22. Just graduated from college last May. My degree was in English (go figure :) ). I LOVE to write, so I have a number of blogs... I write on my MySpace page, I write on my Facebook page, I write on Blogger and I write on D-land. LOL. I also have regular paper-and-pen journals, but I don't keep up with them as much as I used to. Typing is just so much faster! ~*~ Wow, I am really tired. Time for me to go to bed! Hope you enjoy my diary. :) Talk to you later.

I just saw your last entry and was like, "Hey! I know how that feels!" so I had to say something. :) Anyway, my name is Stephanie. I've been D-land friends with Cheryl for...ever. Since free2dream was her username. And I've been friends with Hephzi for about 3 months-ish. You're 2 years younger than me. Oddly, I seem to make good friends with people who are 2 years younger than me...Kinda funny and random. :) Have I given you the username/password to my diary yet? If I haven't--oops! Sorry!! I think somehow I got it in my head that we've been in contact before, when we actually haven't. LOL.

It's amazing how many people I have met lately that have decided to go with education major, but aren't really sure they want to teach. I was one of those people. I was an English Education major for three years, and right before the end of my junior year, switched to just English. I just dreaded my student teaching that was coming up, so much that it was making me sick. One of my education professors finally took me aside and said, "Are you sure you're in the right field?" God bless that woman, and I can't be thankful enough that he prompted her to speak to me, or else I would have just gone through with it and been one of the unhappiest people on the planet. At the moment I'm looking for admin. assistant jobs and teaching English to refugees on the side, which is so much more up my alley than teaching 30 teenagers at a time in a public school setting. I am just not made of that kind of stuff. ~*~ As for you, it sounds like you're not made of that kind of stuff either. I realize that changing your major is a HUGE step out of security right now, and you might not be ready to take it yet, but if the thought of writing lesson plans and trying to control kids is making you miserable, you shouldn't let yourself stay there. I'll be praying that someone gives you a little push in the right direction--hopefully the career advisor you're going to see. ~*~ One last word: You can get almost any job with a college degree, regardless the area your degree is in. What counts is that it is a college degree!

Amy, I think you mis-interpreted something I wrote, although probably means I didn't write it clearly enough for somebody other than myself to understand it. I didn't mean that *truth* is subjective; I meant that being *delusional* is subjective. In the context, it was ambiguous. What I was trying to say is that if a person is suffering from a delusion, such as occurs during severe mania, the person would not be able to objectively perceive that s(he) were delusional. One of the symptoms of a manic episode is that the person having the episode does not think that anything is wrong. That's what I meant by it being subjective. I didn't mean, and I would never contend, that truth itself is subjective. As a Christian, I believe in an objective reality.

I think you're right about putting the money in the bank. It lasts longer that way, because one is less inclined to spend pocket change on bagels and doughnuts and that kind of thing. I don't have a bank account right now because I am still blacklisted by Chex Systems due to past debts owed to banks, but I have a NetSpend account which gives me a debit card that is unattached to any particular bank. I could have deposited the money into the NetSpend account, and I bet it would have lasted longer. In any case, my only recourse now is to keep looking for more work.

No, I haven't lived in California all my life, but I've only left the State twice since 1979. As a kid, I moved from State to State every two years and sometimes out of the Country, because my dad was in the Navy. Last I counted, I've lived in 15 different towns in California in the past four`years. I actually think I *can* give the landlady another chance, and of course the best thing would be for us to resolve the matter. I asked her not to leave me any more notes and I gave her my phone number, but she hasn't called. I've sunken to another low, I didn't sleep almost all night, I'm tired, and I'm not motivated to do anything about it right now. I'm not doing my work either. I just composed a random instrumental piece under a pseudonym and mp3'd it -- good way to escape reality, I guess.

Your "Sleepy Graduation" entry reminds me of a time when I had this office job and was chronically losing sleep and often calling in to tell them I wouldn't be in, or would be in late, because of insomnia. It was a data entry temp job, in which I had to just get all the data entered eventually, and so they went easy on me, because I usually did good work. Later I realized that I was having a strong espresso every night when I came home and then going out and running a few miles, so it was making it hard to get to sleep. I should have done that in the morning instead.

Thanks for asking. I have been diagnosed with Bipolar One Disorder (hypomanic), but it is not quite clear to me if that is the basis for the disability. I tried to describe the symptoms in a government document, but they wrote back and asked if I could have a close friend or relative describe them for me, in the same document, candidly. My brother agreed. I have no idea what he wrote, but shortly later the United States Government declared me "legally incompetent." Although I disagree, I have to admit that I have been having a hard time holding down jobs, or even staying in a single place of residence, in the four years since my mother died. So I'm willing to humble myself and take their money until, hopefully, I can get my act together.

The Village is a place where I have a church and a doctor and a cheap place to live as well as access to counseling, but where I have never been able to find any work. I leave the Village periodically for a great job offer in the San Francisco Bay Area, which works out for a few months until I realize I can't afford to live in the Bay Area and am somewhat falling apart for lack of a support group. In the past four years, I have left the Village for the Bay Area four times, and returned to the Village five times, this being the fifth.

Anyone might figure I put that song there just to save my own "life" since I knew you liked it and thus may have simply invited the positive remark. Something about saving a drowning witch and we all need 'something' to hang on to, or onto, or whatever! Then, by admitting to that possibility like this, we can both swim (I shall do my part anyhow) in all these words that come from somewhere for some reason. Who needs to know the reason? The curious seem to think they do! (If you want to work on layout ideas anytime, I have figured out a few things already.) I scan-all-eyes-ed this "probably won't be a very long update" of yours, and found that it had the following: [ Different words/items counted: 230] + [ Total Words: 559 ] + [ Total Punctuation: 82 ] + [ Total Other Text: 5 ] + [ Total Characters: 2933 ] + [ Total Paragraphs: 11 ] + it also had lots of things to think about that reminded me of how it really is interesting that the teachers want to spend extra time with their students so it never occurs to them that they could tell you about a change of plans so you could think for yourself (supposedly they want you to think for yourself, not be there to give their lives more meaning) so things have, in some ways, not changed in that respect. I remember a barbecue or two, here or there, in various "educational" settings, and sittings, and such. Should be time for that Geography test soon -- unless they decided to "move" it through space and time, or something! ;-) By the way, I think it only has 6 paragraphs, with extra lines, so my computer is really stupid, isn't it? Eleven Is Not Six... (hey, it's the start of "Einstein" there). Then again, I always said that a single sentence is not enough for a paragraph, so then, maybe it only has three paragraphs, and three other... um, asteroids? :-D You will do well enough on these tests, and then there will be more. No good deed goes unchallenged! ♥ ♥ ♥ --g

Those sure are beautiful sunflowers you made on that canvas. I guess it was canvas. I really cannot tell, just by looking at the picture. But I do have to admit I forgot to ask permission again. You can see what I did to them. Gosh, when you have so many different talents and some of them you do not even enjoy (like art) then what are you supposed to do? (Don't ask me since I obviously flop around on the issue, myself!)

Now that I happened to remember (by feeling somewhat desperate to find any sort of connection from past interactions) that I had signed up here at one point after "certain people" had gone elsewhere already (and that did *not* include you, if I am not mistaken, I actually started mine a couple of months before you did) and yadda=yadda (doesn't it?) since 2002-10-09 is approximately less than 2002-12-04 (from an eternal view they're fairly equal, actually)…
I had to learn more things than I wanted to learn, and now I am using them. How about if I try to explain things, by posting about here (in this long-lost book I left in a closet somewhere) and maybe I can "teach" again.
I am so *not* trying to steal your job, dear.
Really. There's plenty of work to go around. Free is easier, I'd say, as long as it is not cheap at the same time. More nonsense, maybe?

How ridiculous is it to forget that I had already signed up here (you hear?) just "a few" years (or two) ago. Now I have to (must-must-must) remember to check and re-check (and re-re-re), just in case somebody (really it could be *anybody*) wants to be impressed with how I can forget things. Or how little I seem to care. (why is that?)

Oh, and, I know what you mean about mid-week service at church. My church has service on Thursday nights. I love, love, LOVE going to church. I just always end up going to bed after midnight because I get home late and then have to get ready to wake up at like 5am the next morning for work. So, I basically wake up at 5am on Thursday after being up late from Wednesday, then get to bed after midnight, and have to wake up at like 5am on Friday. So, I'm usually exhausted Friday night. I miss being able to sleep-in :(

I, despite popular belief, have not abandoned you. As for your loneliness and despair, i definitely empathize, especially when I have so many friends here, it's just weird. So this is for your last two entries. 1) I'm praying for you and your family, and I have no clue about any of the details (and I don't care... about the details I mean.) 2) Sometimes faith means believing even when you can't see the positives. (think about the BarlowGirl song they're always playing on air1) 3)God is good, and even when you don't know what good is coming from this situation (and you may not know...) He is *good*! It's times that we can't see the good that builds our faith (and I've gone through plenty.------- May many blessings come to you and your family! <3 Zee

God's plan and purpose for our life is a mystery for all of us. We can't ever possibly try to understand the mind of God...so we trust. Trust. He knows what He's doing. and regardless of what may happen, He has it all in His hands, and everything will work out for the BEST. :) God is good ALL THE TIME. remember that :) I was really encouraged reading how strong Patrick is being through all of this. Remember to keep praising God even though this is a seriously difficult situation to be in. Pray. God won't ignore the prayers of His children. He listens. Pray for whatever it is that is done, be done according to HIS will. :)

"YUCK! Get that thing away from me!"
what was actually going on in that pic?
oh and more on self-publishing... you load the file, they keep it on file until someone orders, then they create 1 book. you aren't in stores and usually have to work hard to get in stores. that's what i'm going...other s-pub is when you (author) orders your own books, oh say 200 at a time at least, and you go around and sell all 200 books. sometimes you can get a short contract type of thing with a bookstore for those 200 and they get a % of the sells. thing is if you can't sell those 200 you have like 150 books just laying around your house. it's kinda a depressing deal (and wasteful). with both of those you have to do all the advertising or get someone to help you. having a regular pub means they already have contracts with certain large bookstores & distributors. all you do is give them your book (which you set up a contract of who else you can sell to (or not at all, ever) and how much money/profits you'll get back personally (sometimes a lot upfront and none for ea. book, or vice versa or some other deal- this contract is what i'm trying to avoid, also sometimes it's a while, months or more before they do the next part-->), then they get your books set up at those stores and distributors and they do some amt of advertising, which you also agree to by contract.

Hey, I noticed that you haven't been reading your Bible in a while and you were doing sooo well!! I know how hard it is to keep on reading while you are in college and I would like to help. I'm sure you also know how the Lord reveals things to us when we have time to read and meditate on His word. God really wants you to come closer to Him. Is there anything I can do to help you start reading again? You don't have to read a chapter a day. I used to read just a verse or two. I'll be praying for you.

:( I'm sorry your head hurts. hope u feel better. about the whole boy/girl entry I DO agree with you. Girls and guys have NOT a lick of an idea of what courting is anymore. You have ot look hard to find someone who even knows what that means today. There is a such thing as tack too. But on the other side of the fence I have to say that there are times when you are oblivious to how you are acting with your mate (or even bf) that others consider rude. Sometimes I'm hanging all over my husband, playing and whatnot in public. Now, all that tongue/touch stuff yes that's private but what do ppl know of privacy any more? And it's only getting worse. It's so important to get a guy that's into God that will respect you and keep you respectable.

Hey, sorry I've been slow about getting back to your notes, thanks for leaving them though. I've talked to Michael about us going to school together--for a while I didn't say anything about it, but that didn't last too long and he knows now that it's something I'd really like--but I always make sure to tell him that it's not a huge priority and I'd rather him go to the school he wants than do something just because I want him to. I know that we'll do just fine wherever we are, in the long run, but I tend to have more doubtful thoughts when we're separated for longer periods of time. They're often very irrational doubts though, and that's what I'm trying to change. All the same it's difficult to be trusting when we're apart (well for me anyway). I feel like since I'm in college I should be building some kind of new life and new relationships, but to tell you the truth I like the old ones better. I've somehow managed to keep a lot of my friends from high school and it's hard to find people who understand me the way they do. Anyway I feel like Michael and I both are obligated to live new lives in these separate places, but it seems like neither of us want to do that. It's hard to enunciate all the fears I have about those things, since it's summer now and we're out of school so I'm not thinking about it as much. I just know that when the semester starts up again, life could go back to being difficult. I guess that's how it is with everything, though. Okay, that was a lot of confusing sentences, did that answer your question at all? I tried.. :)

"The World As Best As I Remember It," is still an awesome album, after all these years. Rich Mullins was one of the most Christlike people I have ever met on this planet. I am still moved to tears when I hear "I See You," segueing into "Step By Step." That is one of the greatest song sequences ever written! I know Rich is dancing in the streets of heaven, but, dang it, I miss him sorely!!

okay, i'll think of you. I have that same problem. I have the hardest time reading my bible. I connect with God better with worship and prayer than reading. hey Amy! thx for wrtng me back :D
i'm actually surprised u thought the movie blasphemous! I kept running into ads and comments about the movie so i thought i'd do some research (which is what's on my diary now) and loads of ppl who saw it thought it was "fine" and "very funny", but not against God or Christianity. I was upset by that and decided to get some concrete information and create an essay lol. I'm kinda crazy that way, but I didn't want you to think I did that just b/c of you - it's like on every forum I visit. To ans. your question, I'm 27...and a half :( starting to get old I guess lol. Well not "old" but I'm not college-aged anymore, which is strange since most of my friends are. NE Way, yes, drop me a note anytime! ~Rose

Well, I've been in your position before a few years ago. There wasn't a definite hint from the other party, & I didn't want to be too initiative since it'd end up making things quite awkward. I'd already been initiative in my own way, such as sending emails, making phone calls, etc. In the end, I realised that the other party's feelings were less than lukewarm, & my own sentiments were dwindling too! Apart from the diminishing sentiments bit, can you relate to that? Lean more on God & commit to Him more deeply, dear sister-in-Christ! @--J--- 5 June 07

Hey Amy, how is it that you're not asking him out then? Personally, I don't usually ask guys out.. If I'm interested in a guy (& if he's just an acquaintance or a friend), I'm probably too shy & conservative to ask him out. But then, you probably have your reasons. (grin). I didn't enjoy the movie as much because it was too predictable, but I'm really happy for you that you liked it. I felt the same about Xmen 3, Mission Impossible 3 & Spiderman 3 (grin). I prefer plots which keep me on the edge of my seat, which have an unexpected twist, etc.! PS. It's my parents' 22nd anniversary today! Do your parents celebrate theirs? @--J--- 3 June 07

Loneliness is something all of us can relate to, no matter where we are, no matter who we are with/without.. I watched Pirates of the C. 3 on Saturday. You must've enjoyed it to wanna watch it again! I felt that it could've been shortened & more comprehensive. I don't think I want to watch well-advertised movies for a long time now cuz I think that the plots turn out to be quite disappointing, or long-winded or action-packed without logic considering all the fuss! Spiderman 3 & Xmen 3 was like that too. In fact, one of the best shows I watched this year was The Illusionist. No extremely famous actors were in it, nor was it that well advertised but I felt like applauding at the end of it. Oh yea, I must get back to writing a Bible diary! So far, I've been reading but I've stopped recording the things I learn!! Sigh! @--J--- 28 May 07

Dear Amy, I'm glad to hear from you. A friend from Toronto also emailed me regarding my latest entries. I should start writing happier entries again. It's just that sometimes I need a place to "shout". I thought that by renting a church friend's room, I wouldn't have as many problems as before (such as transport inconveniences & yucky food) but I realise now that every path we take has its own set of challenges. That's part of being a Christian isn't it? It's just that with my landlord, there's no solution in the Bible to deal with an elderly man who likes my company. He doesn't mean me any harm, but I don't feel comfortable. I need lotsa encouragement so that I'll feel hopeful & that I won't to get too bothered by this trial. @--}--- 13 May 07

Oh yes there were other bits which caused me to look away, which is why I forgot to mention them! One of the supporting actresses was dancing very seductively & she was scantily clad in a few scenes. The MPAA rating was PG-13, cuz there was one night scene where the two main characters were kissing & the next scene was in the daytime where both of them were asleep. That scene wasn't necessary. Besides that, the music & the lyrics were enjoyable. For a wholesome romantic show for Christians, watch "A Walk to Remember" (Mandy Moore & Shane West), which is based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks! I looked up Amazing Grace on the internet. The storyline does appeal to me but I don't think it's gonna be shown in Sydney! I'd really like to watch The Pursuit of Happyness! I just can't find anyone interested to watch it with me! Would you watch a movie (in a cinema) alone? I know some people who do! My 1st semester started on Monday. A uni staff member (stupidly) asked me to come back a week earlier. So I changed my flight date. When I arrived in Sydney, I realised I didn't have to leave home so early after all. Sigh! this winter has been so weird and we've had the least snow in nyc this year than any other in my lifetime, i think. at first, i wanted snow all the time, but lately whenever it snows its been messing up my plans because no one wants to drive/ get out of the house. =/ so yeah, snow is great, but now, im kinda glad its been a mild winter. ♥

Being single has its advantages & blessings, just as being in a relationship has its bonuses. God has a plan for everyone, & thus, there's a reason why you are single now, like I am! Ever since I was a teenager, I've encountered young men like the one you mentioned in your latest entry. I think it's just your pride that has been affected. God's love is everlasting, unlike attention from young men, so be faithful in prayer & trust in God! @--}---

whats been on my heart? hmm, Jesus has been on my heart lately. even though the answer may sound cliched, its true. i just want to fall in love w/ Him again. also, someone in particular has been in my heart. and yes, its a boy, but its nothing like THAT. he's just going through some difficult things, so ive decided to pray for him more. btw, i make the hearts by pressing the ALT button and the number 3 at the same time! ♥ :) hope you had a great weekend! im sorry to see mine gone, already. grrr

The trip really was a blessing from God. Many family & friends made an effort to help make things go comfortably & smoothly for my mom & I.. The weather was unusually mild.. I listened to an excellent sermon on New Year's eve.. I had the nicest rice porridge & wonton.. I visited quite a few lovely cities! Do underline good verses or make a mark when you come across a verse you can apply. I started reading Joshua last month. I’m moving on from Ruth to 1 Samuel now. Through that, I hope to know the order of the Biblical books by heart! Keep up the Bible reading! How's school? @--}---

Incidentally, "deaf people" & "Deaf people" refer respectively to those who see their hearing loss as a problem that needs to be remedied, & to those who consider themselves as part of a Deaf community! It was pretty cold in Ontario & Quebec (I visited cities in both provinces - can't wait to show you some pictures!). But still, it oughta be colder. There was very little snow as compared to 3 years ago! The thought of global warming makes me feel sad & I've been doing my part as God's child to help! Using cold water instead of warm/hot water to wash dishes, for example, helps! Did you get as "little" snow as Toronto? @--}---

Dear Amy, happy new year! How have you been? Regarding your entry dated 10 Jan 2007, have you got a book in which you write down a summary or meaningful verses when reading the Bible? There's a difference between Bible reading & Bible study! Oh yes, do you know sign language varies from region to region? There're even dialects! I never knew this but it really made sense when an Audiology lecturer told me so!

Lots of things have been on my mind. Sometimes I miss friendships that were severed awhile back. This year, money will be tighter than usual, only I don't know what my new weekly allowance will be. My dad has yet to tell me that. My Shakespeare class requires lots of reading. I may start work on that tomorrow. I have two assignments (one from my Human Genetics Class, one from my Shakespeare class) due next week. Normally I spend a lot of my freetime online (especially on weekends), but I'll have to cut back with the internet in order to do my readings and get both assignments finished on time. I met a guy named Brian last year. He visited the UW for some reason, and he gave me a note saying that he thought I was cute! I've never recieved such a note! I thought me and him would be able to become friends, but he had to go back home to Colorado. He said he wanted to be penpals, yet he never did respond to my intro. letter. He didn't acknowledge my Christmas card either. I have some penpal letters I haven't responded to yet. One is from a girl named Isis who I feel close to. Replying to her (whenever I'm able to do that) will be no problem. Responding to the other letter though....that'll be a challenge. That penpal did some things in her letter which annoyed me. (she probably wasn't intentionally trying to annoy me.) I'm still trying to figure out a way I can tell her about the things I dislike without coming across as a complete jerk.

The measurements I use are based on the international system of units (SI). I don’t understand why there must be other forms of measurements to confuse un-mathematical people like me. Anyway, it’s 20 deg C now – cooling considering it’s December. Deg C is used in Sydney & in Singapore. You must read the Purpose Driven Life! I like fiction books but the Purpose Driven Life is something like Chicken Soup for the Soul. It’s non-fiction but very inspirational! Do you like the Chicken Soup series? I can speak English, Mandarin (the mainstream Chinese language) & a Chinese dialect called Hokkien. It's so phonemically/phonetically different from Mandarin that some consider them the same language, while some consider them different. Do you & Phillip live with anyone else? In some cultures, parent-child love isn’t expressed by hugs, kisses or “I love you”s. Instead, the family members do things for each other (e.g. financial support, doing household chores). Clearly, love is expressed differently worldwide. My pa comes from that kind of family while my mom comes from a more expressive one. Interesting eh? Luckily my pa is more loving to me & my brother than his parents were to him. Still, Like you, I’m closer to my mom. She’s my 2nd best friend. Jesus is my 1st, naturally! @--}---

Two older brothers! So.. do you three live together? It’s interesting how we use different terms to express the same concepts! I term my 3 main meals breakfast, lunch & dinner. To me, tea’s a late afternoon snack (after lunch) & supper is a late evening snack (after dinner). Secondary school (a secondary institution) is equivalent to high school. In Sydney, kids attend primary school, then high school. In Singapore, kids attend primary school, then secondary school. Tertiary institution refers an institution which offers diploma/degree courses. When you mentioned “small”, were you referring to the church size or the congregation? In Singapore, my Methodist church is big-sized with hundreds of members. In Sydney, my Anglican church is big-sized with a small Mandarin-speaking congregation. I like it that way cuz everyone’s familiar with each other. Lately, I’ve been attending an English-speaking Presbyterian church with an even smaller congregation! What sorta denomination does your church belong to? Conner does sound very cute. Why was your mom baby-sitting him? You’ve signed my guestbook before – in it is a snapshot of one of Singapore’s performing arts theatre called The Esplanade cuz it’s located next to the Singapore River! Singapore is the smallest Southeast Asian country, it’s a city-state on an island, & is a dot on the atlas right below Malaysia. So Malaysia is within walking distance for some of the residents, depending on where they live! It’s known to be a fine country because there’re many fines imposed on law-breaking. E.g. no chewing is allowed to be sold in Singapore! (People used to stick them everywhere so the government banned it about 15 years ago.) The majority of Singaporeans are of Chinese heritage, followed by those of Malay heritage, then those of Indian heritage. They're generally bilingual/trilingual. There're 4 official languages: English, Chinese, Malay & Tamil (an Indian language) so signs in all 4 languages are common! @--}---

I turned 20 two months ago so that's an 18month generation gap between us (grin). I feel kinda bad typing that entry about that boy. I felt that he could've asked more diplomatically "Is Singapore independnet?" rather than "Is Singapore part of China?" As a Christian, I should be more tolerant & understanding because I'm not very wise either. Now's my turn to ask questions! Is your supper my version of dinner? So what sorta church do you attend? & are you part of any Bible study or youth group? When you mentioned that you attend college, is that a secondary/tertiary institution? Do you attend any clubs/societies too? @--}---

Oh yea, there's Psalm 139 too. Whenever I read this chapter, I'm awed by the fact that God had planned my existence before I was conceived, that He has a plan for me after my life on earth ends, & that He is with me every day, everywhere, all the time. I know "favourite" should be at the top of the list, but when it comes to Bible verses, colours (God's creation), food & other wonderful stuff, I have lotsa favourites! (grin) @--}---

When I was in kindergarten & primary sch, it was green. In secondary sch, either azure or denim blue. It was just blue in 2003. Lately, I like sapphire blue, the blue & green variations of aquamarine! As for Bible verses, it used to be Proverbs 31:30 & Habakkuk 3:17. For the past 2 years or 3, it has been Romans 12:12 but there're so many other wonderful verses which I seek to apply daily, such as Proverbs 30:8. Have you got a favourite chapter? I like Psalm 119 very much. @--}---

I'll go back to college a week from today. Meh. I don't want my break to end! I'm not ready to go back! Most of my library books are ready to be returned. I only have two left to finish reading. On 9-19-06, I gave Jenn a friendship card. She now owns something that'll remind her of me. I wish she weren't moving to New Zealand. I'm really, really, really going to miss her. I posed a poll-type question in a message board, but apparently i messed that up. It wasn't until I did some clarification that I recieved the replies I wanted to recieve. I have mixed feelilngs concerning Cartoon Network's new FF cartoon. A woman named Peggy (who works in my Church) would like me to spend time with some kids. It would be most convenient for me to volunteer to work with the kids on Sunday Evenings, but then I'd miss out on the Passage service. Peggy suggested that I help out during Sunday mornings, but I don't know if any of my friends would be available to give me rides.

to answer your question...im okay. im really okay. im finding it harder everyday to just place full trust in God. it's not easy by any means. but i know He has a plan for me, greater than I can everr imagine so...thinking about it that way makes things a bit better. How's things with you? REALLY with you? :) LOL you're so fun.

I had to memorize that poem for my Craft of Verse class. It's in the anthology book I purchased for CoV. I did my recital today. One less thing to worry about. Next thing I have to do is work on a poetry critique (maybe I'll start that tomorrow), and then create my Poetry Portfolio.

Hi Amy... I've just read what you wrote me, i'm glad of it, sincerly. I understand what you tell me in french, don't worry, I told you that you spoke very well for a "beginner" and even if you still have things to learn, our langage is one of the must difficults in the world... Here, everything is alright for me, I hope that everything is alright for you in USA too. I have a lot of things to tell you but in a message, it's gonna be short so I gonna answer to your questions... My job is interessant but I wanna change it soon, for many reasons that it would be complicated to explain you in a message. My favourite color is close to yours, it's violet... (i like orange too) What can I tell you furthermore ? I love a lot of things : nature, sport, music, travels, writing, photos, discovering another cultures, another landscapes, another people... I'm very openminded and curious. You seem to be too, that's why I keep on writing you, I don't forget you and hope you'll answer me soon. Tell me more about you next time, I will next time too... Whatever you want, I'll be happy Amy. A bientôt ! Marc

Hi Amy :-) As promised, I write you this little message, hoping that everything is alright for you since Thursday... I feel good, even if I'm a bit tired (and was a bit tired at work yesterday morning, no matter! :-)) I was really happy to talk to you, even if it was too short and by playing cards (but if I didn't decide to play cards, I wouldn't have discovered, so...) You seem to be someone very interesting Amy, very nice, dynamic and clever (when i see how you speak french whereas you've been practising this langage for 2 years)... I hope you'll write me soon (in french, no I joke :-) ), when you want and if you always want to. Your diary and what you're talking about into are very interesting, sometimes funny, sometimes serious, and even when it's funny, i feel something serious behind. I hope to read you very soon, keep on staying who you are. Bye Bye... Marc, at only 6500 kilometers... (6500 little kilometers) :-)

I used to be a member of various Yahoo cat groups, and that poem was posted in one of them. I had it in my inbox for awhile, then decided I no longer needed it in there. Before deleting the message though, I copied and pasted the poem in here. It would be nice if I could have a pet reunion when I die.

I remember a while ago I wrote a prayer and you said it "echoed" your heart...this entry completely "echoed" the feelings in my heart! It's a struggle to find time for God nowadays, and I feel tremendously guilty. I want to remove these petty, silly distractions from my life, but it's hard. It's weird, cause like the guy I like is the one that reminds me to really pray sometimes. We'll get on the phone and he'll make me pray with him...and then after our phone call I'll pray to God by myself. Sometimes without him, I think I would have forgotten...weirdness. But it's a difficulty. And I pray for youu...and MEEE to get through this. I feel so guilty..HE has done so much for me, and I can never give him half of my time. :( Take care.

Lol, I like the random things in your diary. I complain about my hips too. But true, about the childbirth thing. Though, I am not planning to have children anytime soon. Oh the posture thing--me too! Though it's nasty saying you're dating your one millionth cousin or whatever...just the word 'cousin' makes it weird so...yeah. There that's my random ramblings :) TTYL - McKenna

Thanks for the advice on Romans 8:28. I'll ask my theology teacher about it too. I've been getting lots of good advice lately :) October 1st--that was my Homecoming! Good times. Have you had yours yet? Oh about Haloween, I don't like the holiday, except for free candy, but I don't go trick-or-treating anymore. It's just, the whole scary thing about it just bothers me. Like, people jumping out at you and going "Boo!" And all the other stuff. I'm just not into it. My three favorite holidays are Christmas, my birthday, and Friday the 13th. And yes it is a holiday. Well, to me ;) And about the ACT, I took the PLAN tests, which are like ACTs. Those always scare me, it's like, they're reminding me how close to college I am. I'm so scared I'm not going to get accepted to any of them. Although I might be a foreign exchange student probably sometime in college, since I'm going to be a Spanish teacher with the writing thing. Good luck with the ACT. TTYL, McKenna

Lol, your first proposal. You must feel so proud of yourself. Lol you are awesome though, Cheryl's right about that. Thanks for answering my question. You like answering questions? I love asking people them. It's what I do when I'm having a conversation with, let's say, some cute guy. I ask him about sports, or I compliment him on something. I've realized compliments are the best conversation starter.
Oh, I just got to the part about your first crush. Wow, still, after first grade? I asked out this boy in 8th grade, but he never went out with me, even thoug he liked me more than a friend. Why, you may ask? He didn't know what going out meant! So I say "boyfriend/girlfriend" and he goes "...Huh?" and was all clueless. So I'm all "Uh, nevermind. happy confirmation!" Good times. But still, they're like "Why'd you like Ryan?" I should post an entry bout that funny story sometime. My confirmation party was fun, too. Good times, good times :)
Hm, you're a senior? Didn't know that. I'm a sophomore. It's alright I guess. You get a fall break? One day, ooh, that's a good break lol. We get Wednesday left because of the PLAN testing, which is like a pre-ACT. After that I go shopping! I'm really excited about that. Gotta love shopping and chocolate lol.
One more thing--thanks for the note about Romans 8:28. What does it mean, though, the last part "called according to his purpose"? Like, only if He feels like he wants the problem to be resolved? And we have to have a certain amount of faith to fix it? I thought He liked to see us happy. Ah, I'll know, I mean, He has in a way. He does fix things. Alright that's all I've got to say, talk to you later! --McKenna

I'm doing okay. I spent most of today at the Science Center. My dad took me there, and we watched three IMAX movies. The first one dealt with the moon, and it had 3-D effects. The other movies (which weren't 3-D) dealt with Vikings and Dolphins. My dad wanted to see the Viking movie, so I decided to be nice. I didn't enjoy it though. I'm not happy that my Summer break's almost over. I go back to the UW on 9-26-05. Vacations from college never last long enough, IMO. I'm going to go now. I want to check my e-mail.

Thanks for adding me in your entry :-) Made me feel special lol. In response to that, I'd be happy to; it's fun being a reviewer cuz I used to be one, but I just wanna say that with school and all, I might be kind of slow. Like, does she want me reviewing the whole diary? That's what I used to have to do. Or I'd skim through each entry. I don't know; but yeah sounds fun. And as always, I'm late returning notes. I'm getting out of school on the 26th, too, and though I'm kind of excited for the summer, I find myself wishing I could have spent the rest of my junior year a little more wisely...or taken more risks, God-wise. But at the same time I don't want to get stuck wishing. It's cool that you're not stressed out over the banquet thing or caught up in any of that last-days-of-school-worries that lots of kids always seem to have... Hope you're still holding out. :)

Hey you! I like the poem in your latest entry; it's strange how easily one can forget what this world is moving toward. And sorry, I didn't forget your note or anything, just haven't responded because I'm lazy. I'm definitely doing alright school-wise and mood-wise (well, usually), but spiritually I know I'm not doing as good as I'd like to be. I'm going to get to be in the worship band at my youth group in the fall, but I think God couldn't have chosen a stranger time for that...I've had more uncertainties about random stuff come up this year than all the year before. But the fact that he came in and put this new challenge in my life at such a weird time seems to be proof enough that he's up to something good for me. Oh yeah, he always is. :) Sorry about the ramble...how are you?

I'm starting school in another week. September 9th. So I'm taking full advantage of the few days of summer vacation I have left. I'm a college student who enjoys making new friends. I love letter writing, and would never dream of stalking anybody. I did help you out with Critiques, when I noticed you were the only reviewer there. One friend helping out another. We don't have to be penpals, but when it comes to that sort of thing, you want someone who will respond to your letters (and I'm that type of person).

It's all good, I'm forgetting stuff all the time too. And thanks, I really like that verse (another Ecclesiastes one, what a coincidence) and it seemed to fit the layout better. My name's Hannah, sorry if I never told you. Lol, one of my friends read that book "Deadline" and they wouldn't stop talking about how great it was...but they told me pretty much the entire plot, so I haven't had the energy to actually read it myself. And that's cool that your favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11--one of my youth pastors who recently moved to preach at another church told us that that verse really affected him and his wife...long story, but I don't want to clog up your note-box-thingy. I'll try and get on IM sometime soon. What with school starting now I've got all this wretched work to do...

Thanks for answering my questions. Band does take a lot of hard work, I'm glad you appreciate it! Okay, and you said you'd appreciate my opinion on cussing as well, so I'll try and schpeel it out here...Like you, of course, I'm against speaking all the bad ones and I keep myself from doing that. I never really thought about the other ones I say (crap and all) being cuss words, but I do know that they're idle words and they're pretty useless. I was actually thinking about what you had said in my diary's review the other day, and I never realized how many times people say those words around me, even most of my Christian friends. The thing is that I found it harder to express whatever I was thinking without using them, because I'm so used to just saying "I feel like c-word" or whatever. But I guess the good thing about not saying them is that it leaves more room for serious discussion rather than empty words. So it seems like I don't really have an opposite opinion or anything...I mean, I wouldn't call them cuss words, but I would call them a bad habit. And I don't hold it against my Christian friends when they say it, because I know they're not trying to say anything obscene. But I am trying to cut down on it now. Nice verse too, by the way, that really covers it pretty well. Sorry about the long note... :)

Wow. I came here to ask you a question, and I get to ask three. Haha, awesome. Anyway, I meant to ask you a question about my review on your site, Critiques. You noted in the content part how I used cuss words in my diary, but to tell the truth I never thought that "crap" or "heck" were cuss words. I was just wondering what your take on cussing is. If you mean that any words used in vain can be cuss words, then I think I understand that...but if it's something different, I'm curious. (I'm not trying to be mean or anything, I really appreciate the review and the time you put into it.) I guess that's my first question. Okay, I'll just throw out some random ones: #2, What is the scariest thing in the world? and #3, What is your opinion on marching bands?
|
| from
being-katie : |

1) What are you most afraid of?

I want people to win on Jeopardy, but when is Ken finally going to end his streak? Someone else should have the title of champion! Wasn't 'til this season that people could stay indefinately) wish they hadn't!

I love Rebecca St. James a lot and Relient K is very awesome too. But I love Michael W. Smith more than any other artist because he's such an inspiration to me and it's always been a dream of mine to meet him or sing with him on stage or anything like that. Other artists....Newsboys....DC Talk, because they're so original....Nichole Nordeman, I recently fell in love with her music......Steven Curtis Chapman, because he always sings such beautiful music about his kids and about his wife and of course, about God. Rachel Lampa is amazing because I always wanted her voice. And Joy Williams because her song "Every Moment" and "Beautiful Somehow" are so meaningful. There are tons more but those are the main Christian artists I like. :)
I agree with what you said about V-day. It's so overrated. And I hope to find a boyfriend when I'm older and not just for the sake of having a boyfriend but because he really is special to me. :)I love reading your diary. :)Take care and God bless.

Why the fishing for guestbook messages? I'm not in control of people leaving me notes or signing my guestbook.

At first, weather people in here weren't making correct snow predictions. They'd say it'd come around midnight, but nothing happened. The third day they said this though, snow did come, though not at midnight. It did last for several days (keeping me housebound), but it started clearing up yesterday. It's mostly gone now.

I was browsing a designers forum and found a list of image hosting links - see it at http://hands-down.net/beautify/viewtopic.php?t=1165

The reason your images aren't showing up is because, according to Village Photos, "The owner of this file has exceeded their daily usage limit." I don't know what that means, but it is not a design problem - it's a problem with villagephotos. If you can find a different image hosting service you can transfer your images over there. Villagephotos was icky anyway, as it made your daisies look furry due to pixellation. If you can't find a hosting service you like, maybe it's time to get an imageless one... o.O

If the internet connection hadn't been messed up yesterday, I would've updated before today. Sometimes when I don't update, it's because I don't feel like doing so at the time. Other times though, I want to update but can't, either because D-land is busy, or there's major internet problems.

[[The guestbook's not working at the moment (SMG.com is unreliable grrr) so I'll write in here.]] Hey there! I loved your entry about things - that's so right on. That's one of society's many problems. I think if more people realized what you were saying, we'd all be a little happier. And stuff. Anyway. Thanks for the note(s) in the guestbook!! It was so nice to come home and see a couple of new notes in the book. =) HOORAY!!! It's finally the Christmas season! My friends wouldn't let me get too excited about it too early because last year I was all "yay Christmas!" in August and sort of spoiled the real thing for them. But now I'm finally allowed to get all excited! Merry (early) Christmas!!!!!! o<}:o{D} (that's Santa - see the hat and the eyes, nose, 'stache, mouth, beard?) Or a manger - \_/ - heh that was easy enough. Well I'll stop rambling. TTYL!

Thanks for the encouraging note. I think the quote on the banner you saw was "In the world you will find trouble, but take heart! I have overcome the world." (John 16:33 NIV) I've often found comfort in that Scripture. Anyway, I appreciate your comment, and may God bless you richly in your walk with Him.

Hi! It's Leslie Irene; I'm just doing reviews right now, so I'm logged in under Sweet Reviews! I really loved that guestbook post. Thanks for that. I used to be very much "out-there" with my beliefs and such when I first started D-land, but to this day, many still hold it against me. My twin cousins, who are very much devoted to the Lord, told me to maybe just write down my deepest thoughts on God. I wish they lived by me. We would be together all the time. They have a great church in Virginia. Well, enough for now, but post anything you want in my diary! Jesus is my Saviour! Blessings Always, Leslie Irene :)

I'm sure EVERYONE loves this one, but I'm going to write it anyway. Love is patient; love is kind and envies no one. Love is never boastful, nor conceited, nor rude; never selfish, not quick to take offense. Love keeps no score of wrongs; does not gloat over another's sins, but delights in truth. There is nothing love cannot face; there is no limit to its faith, its hope, and its endurance. In a word, there are three things that last forever: faith, hope and love; but the greatest of them all is love. 1 Corinthians, 13.
