It seems like sometimes the harder we look for something, the less likely it is to appear. But give up on it and, suddenly, the universe decides we've earned the right to it.
from ssgtsocrates :
I loved that class. ONe of the best I ever took.
from kaalimar :
Well, I've got it roughed out right now, but as soon as I have it finished, hardened, tempered, and a handle on it, I'll take a picture and send it to you... (Actually, I'll send a picture of the forge too.. it looks like the worlds biggest pipe bomb..lol)
from bradydale :
Well, a silver surfer movie may be long in coming, but they're making a movie about John Constantine: Hellblazer! Which sort of blows my mind. IN fact, I think its about done. Previews are out, yo.

I read your "small video store conundrum." Look, I've been known to break down in tears because I love a good local business so much. That said, I won't patronize a crappy business. They give other businesses a bad name. We have two bagels shops on State Street here, one corporate, one local. The corporate one is closer to where I work and since I'm always in such a rush, I tend to go there. But you know what? When I've had time to go to the other one, it sucks. They're bagels are awful and their cream cheese makes me want to vomit. Instead of getting peanut butter in tubs, they give you these stupid little packets when you want PB&J. I'm sorry, but bagel quality, cream cheese and peanut butter are places where a local business can compete. So I don't go. Screw 'em. Local business has its virtue and advantages but we shouldn't support ANY crappy business. Furthermore, when you think about it, it's sort of pathetic to support storefronts. As you get more into Econ, you'll learn about where the money really gets made. If you really want to help the "small" economy, find ways to buy stuff that is "made" by small businesses. Handmade bikes. Beauty products made in garages. Locally grown produce. These are the people who are fighting back against corporatization. Most "local" storefronts are still selling junk that was made by big corporations, so you're only supporting the small economy with those last few pennies of profit they made on the sale, but all the rest of the profit on the sale is going back up the chain to the big money hungry bastards we don't like. Local bookstores and video stores are a great example of storefronts that make a little money locally, but the rest goes back up the big money hungry chain. Go to Blockbuster. It's fine.

You should write them an anonymous letter, telling them what you said in your diary. Maybe then they could understand that you want to patronize them but they are driving you away. xoxo!
from minouchi :
Sounded bizarre too, except, one, it's in Utah, I mean, whaddya expect? Second, they said her only objection was because it would leave a scar. Guilty of being self-centered and vain, sure, but I think murder is pushing it too!
from myeels :
HEY!! This is snailandsky. My new stuff is at myeels.diaryland.com. I think of late it has been pretty boring, unfortunately. You can also read my weird new blog at http://www.urbanhonking.com/regarding. THANKS FOR ASKING, DUDE!!
from ssgtsocrates :
It's fun and scary getting to know old friends again. Sometimes it can be rather rewarding though.
from x-ray-specs :
Minouchi wins! You are the only one who sent me a message! As my new favorite friend, you are entitled to a mix-CD! Email me your address and I'll send it to you [email protected]
from minouchi :

Noticed you canceled your profile at the other site... combined with your latest entry, I have to ask.... Everything ok?
from ssgtsocrates :
I did get the sticker. I put it on the water bottle I carry around at school, and it has drawn a lot of attention. I don't know if it's a band either, but I tell people that "Towards a better acronym" is what we are all working at in school right?
from x-ray-specs :
No FILTH'sare under serious consideration at this time, I was just thinking hard for a way to describe an acquainatance and that phrase popped into my head. Did you get that sticker I sent you that says "Towards a Better Acronym" ? I don't know if that's a band or what, but it cracked me up because it made me think of back in June when you and labyrinthial told me about TLA's (three-letter-acronyms.)
from ssgtsocrates :
is there a certain FILTH you have in mind? Nice acronym. Did you know "acronym" is an acronym? Abbreviated Coded Rendition Of Name Yielding Meaning...
from kaalimar :
You like BUFFY????? And here I thought I was the only one who ever watched it... hehe
from ssgtsocrates :
There always seems to be more paperwork to do. And the people running the system of paperwork never seem to have a clue what's going on.
from minouchi :
I think that was Launchpad's first girlfriend...can't think of her name right now though. I did live in Ft. Collins, but that was while I was going to college; grew up in Golden and went to Wheat Ridge for High School.
from minouchi :
I think I must have understated the tongue lashing I gave my idiotic friend, although, yes, I should have left his sorry ass by the side of the road to walk home the 7 miles. Although he is diabetic and would probably pass out and die, knowing my luck. X-Ray? Muriel?? I've actually not met you, though it feels like it with how much "the boys" talk about you.
from labyrinthial :
I've not seen the La Mancha movie you mentioned. Is it worth checking out?
from lennongirl :
hey sweetie, well, when you're ready to analyze, give me a shout. such a fantastic mythology and so consistent. i just got Angel on dvd. it's a whole different way to see the series'. just great stuff, no?
from labyrinthial :
I have "read" Godel, Escher, Bach--but at the time I don't think I was intellectually capable of absorbing it completely. It's on my list of summer reading this year, along with some other stuff by Hoffsteader that was recommended by one of my Math Profs. Hoffsteader is a pioneer in artificial intelligence-frigging brilliant.
from kaalimar :
x-ray, you know, I think they have treatment centers for dreams like yours....lol...
