That's MY shiny thing!

"'This is, er, this is your advice, then, is it?' said Arthur.

'No,' said the old lady. 'It's the story of my life....All I can suggest is that if you take decisions that are exactly opposite to the sort of decisions that I've taken, then maybe you won't finish up at the end of your life' -- she paused, and filled her lungs for a good shout -- 'in a smelly old cave like this!'"

--Douglas Adams, Mostly Harmless.

Yeah, that's it. I'm a cautionary tale.

discothekid profile - diary
comments: I was looking for new people to stalk, and he seemed highly recommended. Now I find out he hasn't updated for a month. Dammit. If I wanted a bunch of people who never updated, I could have just kept my old buddies.

My favorite music:

Stanislaw Lem
comments: I read a lot more than I listen to music. So, I'm going to pretend that these music slots are really extra author slots. Try and stop me.
Kilgore Trout
comments: I wish he was real. He's got some fascinating plots.
Irvine Welsh
comments: Trainspotting is actually my least favorite of his books.
Harlan Ellison
comments: His stories are good too, but what I love more than anything are his introductions. He just hauls off and rants at everything that displeases him. The classic Ellison quote "The two most common things in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity"
Bill Watterson
comments: Hey, he's an author. I own several of his books. Ya wanna make something of it? Bring it on, beeyotch.

My favorite movies:

Christopher Moore
comments: OK, I guess I don't really watch a lot of movies either. I read. This is what I do. I do it with an obsession the likes of which the world has never seen.
Neil Gaiman
comments: Sandman. I love me some Sandman lately.
Bob Dobbs
comments: See, this is the problem with expanding the number of favorite authors. To get *all* the people who helped make my brain what it is today, I've gotta have a few more authors that don't technically exist than I'm really comfortable with.
William Spencer Browning
comments: Zod Wallop. Resume with Monsters.
PG Wodehouse
comments: Someday when I'm rich, I'm going to have a Jeeves of my very own.

My favorite authors:

Tom Robbins
comments: He wrote a couple books featuring college educated waitresses. And that's not even really why I love him. The man seems to have a lot of fun writing. There really is no better way to explain him.
Terry Pratchett
comments: As if Discworld wasn't enough, he also cowrote GoodOmens with Neil Gaiman.
Robert Anton Wilson
comments: Without this man, I might not be nearly so paranoid. Fnord.
Stephen Fry
comments: I might actually be stalking him. Without even trying, I think I've stumbled across everything he's done. I don't even actively seek him out. He's just everywhere. He's the epitome of this theory I have that there are only si
Connie Willis
comments: Strange. I only ended up with one female favorite. Such is life.

update: Still fixing stuff as fast as I can!. As you may have noticed, Diaryland is being renovated, which is still in progress. Bugs are all being fixed. The new design should work on phones much better than the old one, and pages in the members area are being converted to the new look one by one, so they can be tested. Please email help@diaryland.com with any new problems, but things that are already bugs should be fixed soon!
