Deceitfully Bitter

I'm a college boy filled with angst and disdain for the world and the way it works. But those who know me know this isn't wholly true. I'll take just about any action to renew faith in humanity, help me?

My favorite diaries:

babygrlrae    profile - diary
comments:  My amazing girlfriend who is currently in NYC living HER dream!! She is the most amazing girl in the world.
amusedcourt    profile - diary
comments:  Good buddy with the best prank granny panties on the block. LaRae's roommate in NYC and a Fab chica
quiet-lovely    profile - diary
comments:  Traci. What a fabulous gal! She has some great insights for such a youngin!
surrational    profile - diary
comments:  Jarrod Crawford: NEVER EVER UPDATES and thus SUCKS!

My favorite music:

Post-Coital Smoke Rings of Satisfaction
comments:  Okay...so they don't exist yet. But it's Mike Merz's band's name. And they will be fantastic. Consider this a copyright.
Jason Mraz
comments:  Current Fav. His lyrics and folky style rock my world. Great mellow travelling music
Lucky Boys Confusion
comments:  Turned onto them by my roommate, they rule. I suppose this demonstrates my eccentricity in music...
Switchfoot
comments:  Christian surfer rock. Sounds odd, but lemmie tell ya, these guys know life. Jon has been writing excatly what I think about life since he was about 17.
Jibe
comments:  Local Dallas band. Absolutely awesome. Rewind and Crush are my current favs

My favorite movies:

The Princess Bride
comments:  This nearly made my author/book list because it's fantastic. But the movie version of the book is better...it takes out the boorish parts. Although, the ending is more fitting in my opinion in the real book. Ask me about it sometime.
Moulin Rouge
comments:  I saw this for the first time late the night of the Tony awards my senior year in high school with some Theater people. I didn't expect much. I couldn't even move until after the credits were over.
American Beauty
comments:  My lady and I disagree. The striking, slap-you-in-your-face reality of the movie-world makes me love it. No one falls in love or does something sweet and kooky.
Cruel Intentions
comments:  I have seen this more times than I can count. The opening scene with Sebastian and the random girl outside his shrink's office still gives me chills. The cocky, cold, knowing demeanor touches my heart as something I know I could never really be.
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
comments:  I know it's an odd movie to make a list like this, but it is one of those things that inspires hope in the human race...something I desperately need.

My favorite authors:

Terry Goodkind
comments:  The Sword of Truth series. Okay, I'm a nerd, admittedly. His description of the human spirit makes me have some hope.
Robert Jordan
comments:  The "Wheel of Time" turned me on to epic fantasy. I actually read it before the Lord of the Rings. His portrayal of women is...well...frightening.
George R. R. Martin
comments:  "The Song of Ice and Fire" Although I have not had time to read all of this yet. The first book was striking.
Karl Marx
comments:  Huge nerd okay! He makes me think about a lot of things, and I appreciate that.
J. R. R. Tolkien
comments:  Obviously. The brilliance of this man still amazes me.
