 My favorite diaries:
Malraux profile - diary |
| comments: The guy who got me to write one of these myself. And I don't know anybody else who's seen Kilamanjaro and Lhasa in the last few years. |
Actionhero profile - diary |
| comments: My heir in the Devotion of Clio. He often surpasses the master. |
MrFish profile - diary |
| comments: The man has obscure media running through his veins. Everyone should know a person like that. |
LadyJeanGrey profile - diary |
| comments: She's my Layla. If you don't know what that means and you're over 18, never claim to know music again. If underage, you're neglected. |
Padraig profile - diary |
| comments: I could say a lot of things, but I'll just say my nickname for him corresponds to my favorite animal. And Padraig is a very good Irishman. |
Thryn profile - diary |
| comments: The Brigmistress of Pirate Radio. Need I say more? |
Elvinone profile - diary |
| comments: That's Elfy to you, but I wanted the link to work. A fun girl to have petty battles of will with. I'm quite proud of occasionally winning. Puts me in rare company indeed. |
Arcanologist profile - diary |
| comments: The nude modelling idea seems to be back on the table. High fives, everyone! One of the most intriguingly changable of these pages. |
Allornae profile - diary |
| comments: Beautiful and distinct writing style. He and Malraux have had some truly epic sparring sessions. I'm happy to have gotten in the occasional war cry before getting cut down by either. |
Erin Lindsay profile - diary |
| comments: Not diaryland, but an old and dear friend, deserving of any list of this type. A very talented cartoonist, and someone who isn't really in need of my endorsement here, (8,000 hits a day to my 10...)http://venusenvy.keenspace.com/ |
Wheeloffish profile - diary |
| comments: I suppose as Actionhero was my heir in the Devotion of Clio, Wheel's sorta my grand-heir. An excellent example of how to make insanity "work" in one's daily life. King of rubber cement. |
Julieclipse profile - diary |
| comments: Our resident dolphin expert. Gentle, beautiful, silly, and unabashedly geeky. A great match for young Mr. Wheel. |
Cloudyvision profile - diary |
| comments: Her accademic specialty is religion, but we never seem to be able to discuss it for more than a few mintues without cracking up. That's a roundabout way of saying she's good people. Well, just one, mostly. |
Omegaserpent profile - diary |
| comments: Another long-sought entry into the fold. Finest purveyer of elaborate Greek profanity that I know. But from what I understand, he no longer looks like Lorenzo Lamas. Sorry, ladies. |
Achlis profile - diary |
| comments: The sort of guy you want backing you in a fight more because of his quality of character than 'cause he's the size of a truck (which he is). Just open the windows if he's cooking with Worstechire. |
Pairodox profile - diary |
| comments: The Rock Troll has rollled back the boulder from his cave. I expect great things. |
Notdeadyet profile - diary |
| comments: One of the most colorful in a psychadelic rougue's gallery. His entries are densely packed with his personality, as all the best diaries are. |
Treehead profile - diary |
| comments: The page is still young, but she's spilled her personality all over it already. Intelligent whimsy is not a thing to be missed. |
Amarnakemet profile - diary |
| comments: When you give creative people a new medium to play with, expect underscored results. So far, very impressive. |
 My favorite music: |
The Beatles |
| comments: Do I even need to tell you that? |
Led Zeppelin |
| comments: Ok, the first two were so obvious they were kind of a waste of slots here. |
Robert Johnson |
| comments: Hard to top a bluesman who's actually been to the crossroads. |
Bob Dylan |
| comments: I may well have been to Hibbing, and not necessarily 'cause Bob was. Oh, and if you own a harmonica, you have to love Bob (even if he's not an earth-shattering player). |
The Doors |
| comments: And the Stones. And anything else that absolutely must be played while operating a barbecue grill. Creedence is good in the summertime. |
 My favorite movies: |
Baron Munchausen |
| comments: The Gilliam especially, but the old German version is also a classic (first color film, actually). |
What Dreams May Come |
| comments: I could have done without the very last scene, but this movie makes me cry in all the best ways. |
Stalingrad |
| comments: German film. The most honest and brutal war movie I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot). American films will likely never be this unflinching (makes the Private Ryan beach landing look very cute). |
Braveheart |
| comments: Wildly inaccurate, but the best drinking movie ever. Especially since it's two tapes long. |
The Evil Dead Trilogy |
| comments: Most enduring camp horror I've ever seen. |
 My favorite authors: |
Bill Shakespeare |
| comments: I like to call him Shecky myself. |
Gordon Craig |
| comments: The most consistantly outstanding modern German historian |
Frederick the Great |
| comments: His letters and other correspondance have such wit, (hey, he was Voltaire's pen pal). His book, L'Anti-Machiavel, isn't so great, but he was young. Oh, and I hear tell the flute music he wrote was quite good. |
Bertrand Russell |
| comments: His A History of Western Philosophy is indispensable. His own philosophical tracts were important, but not to my taste. |
Voltaire |
| comments: I especially like his fantastical short stories, but Candide is the one everybody knows, and with good reason. You know he wrote that in a 48-hour fit? Talk about good cramming. |
