are you there god? it's me, maven.

I'm kind of a professor, I'm kind of a grad student, and I'm kind of a professional classical singer. If I ever finish my doctorate, I can knock "grad student" off that list, and if I ever get a long term job, perhaps I'll stop feeling like a pretend professor. I'll probably never make my entire living from being a singer--though for some stretches in life it was actually my only job--and you know what, I'm totally okay with that. When I read audition listings these days, it makes me want to barf, and if that's not a sign I don't know what is.

I like to read, write, hike, thrift-shop, and cook. I can live excellently well on almost no money (though I have to admit that is getting a little old). I have started running, if you can call the plodding thing I do "running." I meditate every day, for a few minutes at least, and I am convinced I can influence my health this way. I am always on the verge of being late.

This diary is locked; email me if you want to read it. I'm over at mavenhaven.blogspot.com now. If I'm not there, you can probably find me at Goodwill.

update April 6, 2020: Sorry, we just had 8+ hours downtime due to a server problem. Restoring from backups took soooo long, but everything is back and no data was lost. Ay yay yay! Anyhow, hope everyone is well with the virus stuff.
