 My favorite movies: |
Star Wars series |
| comments: I don't think I really need to say why. Either you "get" the movies or don't, and I got it. A fantasy adventure story set in a science mold and told with great gusto and a sense of boundless possibilities with the universe created. |
Battle Angel Alita |
| comments: Not REALLY a movie, but it's length was almost so. The first "real" anime I ever watched and knew it was anime. Lotsa violence, lotsa blood splattering everywhere, all coupled with a wonderful sci-fi tale of loss and regret. |
Flight of Dragons |
| comments: That's where my name came from and I'm proud of it! It's story is basically a slideshow adventure, but keep in mind I watched it when I was very yopung and it was simply FANTASTIC. And it had the voice of James Earl Jones as Omahdon! |
Usual Suspects |
| comments: The first movie that made me sit up and take notice of Kevin Spacey and realise what a damn cool actor he was. Actually, it was the first movie I saw with him in it period. Good impressions last. |
 My favorite authors: |
Terry Pratchett |
| comments: The guy who first made me realise how extremely silly a lot of fantasy fiction REALLY was with a few well placed puns and turning the inside out on popular cliches. Fun guy to read, and also slightly philosophical to boot! |
David Eddings |
| comments: On the otherhand, this guy is just a plain good fantasy writer without the little jabs at other authors. His works may seem somewhat formulaic, but they're often helped along by a huge dollop of welcome dry humour and wit. |
Warren Ellis |
| comments: He writes comics, but don't let that prejudice you against his work. He's written a lot of great stuff in the land of comic books, and always with a brazen, edgy, and slightly sick Brit humour style that he's become well known and loved for |
J. K. Rowling |
| comments: I'm weak. I know I am. I thought it was all just hype and that I'd be immune to the charm of Harry Potter. I was wrong. So very wrong. OH DE AGONY OF DEFEAT! But the books ARE good, surprisingly enough. |
