Meh!

I'd like everyone to know… umm. ? Well what do you WANT to know? Tch… questions. :-)

My favorite diaries:

TheCritic    profile - diary
comments:  College student. The first blog I started following, for all-round humourousness.
TranceJen    profile - diary
comments:  What can I say? A good writer, she vents admirably.
twelvebeer    profile - diary
comments:  Collection of links to diarists of the funny kind. Good idea, for procrastination purposes…
Luvabeans    profile - diary
comments:  Long entries, very well-written, funny and smart.
Towelphaser    profile - diary
comments:  Sounds geeky + goodnatured, and likes gigging… I'll buy that.
groovy-decay    profile - diary
comments:  Young globe-trotter. Funny. Reads intelligent sounding books I'll probably never get around to.
smoog    profile - diary
comments:  Self-consciously unusual. Funny, in fact.

My favorite music:

The White Stripes
comments:  I've seen them live and they make more noise than I ever thought two people could… mostly on the guitar. Respect due. I also like the songs (just a little) :-D.
The Beta Band
comments:  They're just ahhhhhh… They do their own thing, and it's just incredibly… deep. Like you hear the sound and you just feel they're doing it Right. And they've split up. Bastards.
Regina Spektor
comments:  Not that she's a band, but she's brilliant. Just her and a piano… very inventive… quirky lyrics. Samson is my favourite song, which really says something cause i never thought I'd have one.
The Dandy Warhols
comments:  Faves for a long time… first gig I went to.
The Kings of Leon
comments:  Blues-tastic.

My favorite movies:

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
comments:  Makes me smile and feel sad at the same time. And it ain't twee, or even particularly sappy, just… true. An original way of looking at a relationship.
Adaptation
comments:  Makin with the Charlie Kauffman. Ooo, it's so clever… makes orchids interesting.
Together
comments:  My ultimate feel-good film, in Swedish. It's about a family adjusting to life in a hippy commune, among other things… It's sweet, but (again) not cutesy. It's funny, and good-natured.
Festen
comments:  Dutch (what is it with me and foreign films?). It's about a big family with a dark secret at the heart of it. Harsh, with a lot of black humour, and satisfyingly arty, with a powerful story in the middle of it all.
Amelie
comments:  Satisfies the romantic side. It's so pretty… and French! Plus I love the music in it.

My favorite authors:

Pat Barker
comments:  I love her Regeneration trilogy (about WW1). Uncompromising, hard-hitting, historically accurate, with well-drawn characters, touches of humour… it's all there. Devastating, in an admirable way.
J.K. Rowling
comments:  Stylistically not great, but the story is more-ish… and I guess that's why she's so rich now… :-)
George Orwell
comments:  Get me some political commentary…
Jaclyn Moriarty
comments:  Teen fiction with a lot of laughs and charm.
Phillip Pullman
comments:  His Dark Materials is an old favourite. 'S good stuff.
