Liverpool Ladies - Busa Trophy silver medallists

It's nice to be home. I'm spending a couple of days with the fambily because I haven't been home in a while and it's Mothers' Day tomorrow so though I'd come and see my mummy. Plus I didn't have to get the train over as we were in Sheffield for the BUSA final and Mum and Dad came to watch, providing me with a free lift home! The match was a good one - the whole day was good actually, we got to watch some really high-class fencing and of course, play our final. It didn't go as well as we would have liked, but to their credit, they were a really good squad. They had a GBR sabreur, a turkish sabreur and some chick with her name on her lam� (but no stripes). We started with Sabre and were badly trailing in that. I subbed Heather off for her last match and pulled back 8 points, which was a lot of fun, and we finished 33-45. Epee went a lot better - in the end, we only lost that by one point, even after Sarah had a strop when one of her �p�es failed the gauge test. Susan did really well in keeping us only a few points behind, and it was just unlucky that we missed out on the winning point. We were slaughtered in foil though. All of us managed to pull back some points against their second player but in the end we went down 23-45, giving an overall total of 100-135. Considering their track record this actually isn't a bad score. They've been beating everyone else by a much wider margin, so it feels good to have gotten to 100. I was very pleased with Marnie's fencing today. For a newbie, she is a very sharp fencer and did really well in both foil and sabre. I asked Susan to put her down for half colours because I reckon she deserves it after helping us get this far. Dad took some pictures so I'll try and put a couple up soon.
