is the word 'diary' better than the word 'blog'? probably not.

Unembarrassed.

It was a very Fluevog Christmas chez Jill.

First, I did end up buying the special edition San Francisco-only Mini Momo shoes. December was my last payment on one of my loans, so I decided to reward myself for that milestone in Project: Live Within Means. At the store I spent quite a bit of time walking around with one tan/brown version on my left foot and one red/pink version on my right. I could not decide, since both had their clear virtues. But then I realized that when you reward yourself for an accomplishment, YOU GO FOR THE WHIMSICAL PINK SHOES, not the brown ones. Though, truth be told, the shoes are going to be whimsical no matter which color you choose in this style, right?

The woman in the store (after whom the shoes are named!) pointed out that if I got the brown ones everyone would think I was Steampunk. I said: "I am a 43-year old college professor. No one is going to think I'm going Steampunk." So she said, "but, well, maybe it will confuse your students." Heh.

Anyway, pink and red! Oh, the cuteness of it all.

And then, on Xmas Eve, I opened a gift from my dad, and it was these beauties.

Check out the cool gold-lined u-shaped heel. It's a high heel, but there is a hidden platform under the toe bed of the shoe, so they are pretty darn comfortable. I love their naughty-secretary vintage-ish kind of look.

And then, on Xmas Day, I opened a package from my Mom and it was the purple and burgundy t-strap blind faith mid coreys!

Three pairs of shoes in three days! An embarrassment of riches. But I am not embarrassed.

They all look very good in my huge, huge new closet, here in the suburban manse.

I posted an entry about Levinas-scholarship a few days ago from New Jersey Transit using my Sidekick, but then it showed up as a duplicate, so I deleted one, and then found that neither survived. In the meantime I deleted the original copy of what I wrote. Oh well.

Speaking of the Sidekick: it is over. After lo! these many years that I've been with Sidekicks 1, 2 and 3, I have thrown in the towel and bought myself a white Motorola Cliq.

Today is the day when I begin painstakingly retyping everything I ever put into the Sidekick into the Cliq. Yes, thank you, Sidekick proprietary system, for doing this and other annoying things to me.

It is amazing how much stuff I have in the Sidekick. And it is amazing that I didn't think to email most of it to my haverford email address before T-Mobile switched my account the new plan. Doh!

Well, I am a 49-year-old college professor and I had to Google "steampunk," so I guess you're way ahead of me, at least.
