More Boring Running Stuff Monday, Feb. 23, 2004 Heres a really boring update about the progress Ive made in my Marathon training. Right now that only hard-core fans are still reading, let me tell you something really dirty! No sorry only joking, this really is about running. The Sunday before last I went out on my own and managed about 14 miles that took me around Hanningfield Reservoir. I was quite pleased with that, although I did rather more walking than I would have liked. Tuesday was speed training- no problem with that. Thursday was club night so I didnt go mad, just 5 miles, at a fairly easy pace. I took the day off work on Friday, because it was half-term and Old Annie fancied a day out. So I dragged myself out of bed and went for a run at about 8.30 in the morning. I felt like my legs were made of lead. I just didnt have any energy at all. Maybe it was because Id run just 12 hours before or maybe it was the couple of pints Id had the night before, or maybe Im just crap in the mornings, I dont know. I managed about 9 miles in the end. That means I did around 35 miles in the week, so not too bad. For some reason we decided to spend our day in Bishops Stortford, a small town near Cambridge. Old Annie bought me a new pair of running shoes, as an early anniversary-of-first-meeting-you present. Itll be 5 years on 27th March. Its just amazing how time flies. So now Ive got my new shoes this week Im hoping to do around 40 miles in total, with a long run of around 15-18 miles. Ill keep you posted. Promise, I know you are all dying to know all about it.
