Tamira

Maybe it's all the sports I've been watching lately, but I'm starting to think about attempting a big weight loss push. I mentioned the other day that tennis was my first real sport. I won't go into all the stuff I did to teach myself the game, with magazines, books, instructional videos and observation. But for tennis I went from a guy who had to walk most of the 600 yard run/walk in grade school to a guy who'd run 4.2 miles at the end of a long day then hop on the bike and ride fast around town for miles so the breeze could cool me off. I ran stadium stairs for tennis, did kangaroo hops and star jumps, jumped rope, lifted weights, and did a lot of things that turned me into an all around athlete. I wonder if an older version of that guy is still inside me?

I listened to a fair amount of Glastonbury last night, and enjoyed the video tour. We made a side trip to the town on the Oxford/Bath/Stonehenge trip, but there wasn't time to make it out to the Tor (Avalon?). I did enjoy the Abbey grounds, and went to Chalice Well and stuff. I've thought of it a lot lately because of the Camelot series, and their changes to the legend. Anyway, I enjoyed seeing some of the Festival on justin TV, like the underground rave you get to through all of these odd little rooms, then out through a fake refrigerator door. Morrissey sounded great. The bits where a guy in the International Space Station helped U2 with It's A Beautiful Day was pretty neat.

My new tennis discovery is Tamira Paszek of Austria. Facially she reminds me of Whitney Port from The Hills or whatever. I caught the end of the 3 hour 41 minute against Schiavone, and it was brilliant. Schiavone is kind of a stud who can chase down everything, hit all the spins and angles, and outlast people. Paszek could do everything she could do. They were playing points that went eighteen quality shots. Paszek won 11-9 in the third. Sunday is an off day at Wimbledon, so tomorrow I'm going to treat myself to the full match replay on ESPN 3. Williams over Kirilenko harshed my mellow (I don't now, and have never used drugs) for a bit, but then I stumbled across this roller coaster of a match and it saved it for me.

My sister drove past yesterday with a bit of cash. I needed to buy milk, so I hit the dollar store this morning and got a few things, including Diet Mountain Dew cans. For June at least, cold Diet Mountain Dew equates to a good day in my life.

Have a great rest of the weekend.
