2004-05-19 - 4:02 p.m. so yes, amidst the drama and the back and forthyness, i decided to do the ptdr with gwen and her friend carrie. our concept is kali, the destroyer...similar in construction to the bitch on wheels. last night we spent most of our time at home depot scheming our wheel design. our plan was to buy 2x4s to build a 40 ft practice track and the wheels for the side of the skill saw to stablize it against the track. our thinking was to fit w/ the size of the track and to take into accont the motor protrusion on one side, we needed two big wheels on one side and two small ones on the non-engine side. this kept us pondering and measuring for awhile on the floor of home depot. it would have been a great shot for the discovery boys. in our exhaustion, we left the bag w/ our skill saw and wheels at home depot so when we got back to the shop and unloaded the wood, gwen then had to run back to home depot. to add insult to injusry she just told us that Z pointed out a flaw in our thinking about the wheel design and said we can actually mount 4 large wheels to the frame. as he points out, we are mounting the wheels to the frame of the skilsaw, so the overall length of the frame plus the wheels on either side becomes 11.5" or so, with the big bulky motor riding somewhere more in the middle of the track so there is no worry about it bumping. what we were trying to do - in error - was to add the length of the wheels to the widest part of the skilsaw (which is 9" wide with the motor) when we really only needed to add the length of the wheels to the frame of the saw (which is 6" wide). other than that, we're arguing over the wig for kali. i argue it needs to be wild and messy, even dreded. gwen keeps coming up with indian turbans and pocohantas wigs. but i found a really cool mexican day of the dead skull necklace she's going to wear.
