Today was a great day! I got to get my Lamby ready for school. She's such a little gem in the mornings. Kindergarten mornings used to be full of moans and groans from both kid and parent, but this year has been a breeze! I don't know if it's because she enjoys school more or if it is because she is used to being a part of a school routine. Regardless, she looked so cute today: grey corduroy pants, a white short-sleeved shirt with a pretty butterfly graphic, and her hair up in pigtails. We call them rat-tails around here, because they make her look so adorably naughty. :)
Last night was my first night back at homework, so I stayed up entirely too late. Brody snuck into bed for an hour or two because I myself crashed before I was able to meanly return him to his crib. Once I woke, I did so, and he only fussed about it for a few minutes. I was so surprised. I heard his last few wretched whimpers (oh my sweet baby, you can come back to mama and snuggle!) but I didn't give in. I heard him collapse down onto his mattress, toss and turn a bit, and then he slept til about 8:30 a.m. Impressive. Maybe this will be easier than I thought!
I too, closed my eyes for awhile before getting up to shower and get ready for school. I must admit, I wasn't too excited about it, but once I got to lab, mingled with some new faces, and got to pricking my own finger and seeing my very own blood cells, I was super excited and confident in my new direction. I love it!
I had lunch in the "lounge" (a very busy place around noon hour), then met up with a friend and went to my second class. We talked about blood a bit more. I left in an extra-happy mood, nearly an hour ahead of schedule.
I took a trip to the thrift store and found a cute heart-turtleneck for Johnna, a book for Jemma and Brody (it is super awesome. It's a Halloween picture book with super-awesome color decoders. Even I'm impressed: how'd they DO that?) I also found a few toys, even though I'm mad at toys. The first one is this awesome little horse stall thing that would work perfect with Johnna's bday horses. The second thing is a yellow shopping basket. Not only does it coordinate with their grocery cart, but it just an awesome little toy basket. The total for everything was only $4.50. I love the thrift store.
I came home, spent some time with Jamz and B., and then we all went to the bus stop to get Johnna. We played at the park, came home and had ravioli, gave baths, did homework, folded laundry - everything about today was awesome.
Oh - yeah.. While Johnna was typing out her play, Jemma went with John to get water, and I hung laundry with Brody in the girls room. He was playing the little keyboard while dancing. When "O Susannah" came on, he began laughing and dancing. I LOVE his laugh. It is so husky yet squeaky, like he is being squeezed and loving it.
Some days I just want to cry when I look at them because they are so amazing and I just want to protect them and preserve them just for me, but I know I can't. They can have the entire world; they can do anything. They are such strong, smart little kids.
After today's schooling, I really feel like I'm where I should be...now to change this "above Toodiez" thing!
