---- To All Roses ---- Being that I will not be posting any further entries here at diaryland, I have turned the notes section off and have left the guestbook open for comments. This 'notes area' will forever be a precious place to and for me. Reading the kind words that others (strangers, loved ones and friends) have left me... uplift and encourage my Spirit. Thank you so much!! Love from afar, yet near in Heart ... ~ Shannon Collins ~ The Rose Within ~
from a-rosewithin :
Lovely quote, Fan4! Thank you for sharing it. =) I'd like to add that our friends are as different from us, as the color red is from blue. Imagine the amazing things we can learn from our friends! They are able to teach us much, especially as we accept them AS IS. It is then that their colors are added to the many colored hues of our own unique rainbows, which often results in a perfect blend of colors! Love from a fellow Washingtonian! ~ Shannon

My notes section should be working fine.... "Richland" doesn't sound familiar, but we live in the same state.

I thank you Fan4! You inspired my addition to my most recent entry. I had not been satisfied with a paragraph and went back to add more. I did not take away ... I added. Fan4 ... stay TRUE to your convictions. They are absolutely completely 100% RIGHT ON FOR YOU! Others may believe differently and if you want to touch their lives and be an instrument of encouragement or enlightenment ... Stay true to what you believe without judging others. Please know that you are loved from afar and very near in Heart ... ~ Shannon

"Look to this day! For it is life, the very life of life. In its brief course lie all the verities and realities of your existence: The glory of action; The splendor of beauty; For yesterday is already a dream, and tomorrow is only a vision; But today, well lived, makes every yesterday A dream of happiness, and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well, therefore, to this day!" ~ from the Sanskrit ~ I greatly welcome your appreciation for my entry entitled, Feel Good Thoughts as a confectionery masterpiece of the most ambrosial nature. I thank you for your continued initiative to leave me such lovely words of esteem. Your gestures of love and friendship are wonderful, unexpected kindness that make me happy! My wish for you this evening is that you experience beauty in any form, the sunrise, the sunset, the smell of grass, laughter, the softness of an embrace, something, anything, and fully and truly experience the sensation, allowing it to completely overwhelm you. I thank you, my friend, for all of the beauty that is within you that you so freely share with others!

Forgive my lateness on this note! I would be honored for you to quote me. I have not yet looked at your diary, but I've seen what you wrote in your profile and I can tell already you and kilowatt have the same warmth to share with the world. I look forward to what your entries may contain. :)

I was only trying to leave you a note Minstrelite. Alas, your note section was turned off. So instead, I left a message, in my Guestbook, to thank you for your sweet note left here. =) Minstrelite ... I wish you a most EXCEPTIONAL and SPLENDID DAY!! ~ Love, Shannon

I learned of your diary from my friend Tricia (fan4). You have a beautiful journal--you lifted my spirits and re-awakened my love for the good things in life, after a struggle with darkness and despair. Thank you.

Regarding your entry "A Love Comment ... The Allure of Blogging," you are brilliant, my friend! For you have stated with more eloquence, more tenderness, and more luminosity, what I was attempting to capture within my own entry on the subject. "Each contact with a human being is so rare, so precious, one should preserve it." ~ Anais Nin ~ I thank you for the rarified gift that is you, your insightful mind, your abundant heart, your fathomless soul, and your continuous compassionate spirit. May you truly enjoy your day and may you firmly believe in your tremendous inherent beauty and talents.
from breathtaken1 :
Oh thank you so much for the very sweet note you left me...and yes, great minds do think alike. I was changing templates every week or two until I found this one. This one feels right and I never tire of seeing it. You have a wonderful diary...of course :)
from sunnflower :
Now that I have discovered your diary, I am really enjoying stopping by and reading. If I might make a suggestion (and maybe I missed it) - consider upgrading your diaryland subscription so you can have comments for each entry or use something like Haloscan comments. It would be great to be able to respond directly to each entry and I think you will be happy you added this capability to your diary. Love today's rain and tea poetry!
from candoor :
it is great to see your positivity continues to flow out here on the net... hope all of you are feeling fantastic today :)

Concerning, your entry "Love Notes and Cards ... For Michael", it is simply lovely! You beautifully express the exquisite feelings of tenderness, hope, and curiosity during the early phases of romance. I thank you for sharing the card, the notes, and your delightful P.S., with all of us here at Diaryland, as you honor your relationship with Michael. You are the mistress of divine expressions plucked directly from the petals within the lush garden of your heart!

Shannon, this is a duplicate of a note that I left on my own comments page in response to your most recent and wonderful comment. //// Shannon: My beautiful, vivacious, and compassionate friend, I am immensely grateful for your kind words. I look forward with great anticipation to be able to read your impeccably crafted poem of your unique origins. I wish you a sheltered circle of rocks to lie down in, wrapped in soft velvet, listening to the waves whispering, "Peace."
from nicim :
It was my personal dream. I always seem to have unusual ones. I taught myself "directed dreaming" as a child because of the constant nightmares (you start and end the dream the way you want). The oddest dreams are always the ones when you start coming awake, realize you are dreaming and fight to stay there - often called "lucid dreaming". Thanks for reading once again! PS: finally getting someone to help me design my template. YAH!
from nicim :
Thanks once again for your thoughtful note. LIATI is an artist (and I have her album which is quite nice). But it really means "Love Is All There Is". And I do so want to believe.

I like your descriptive comment about kilowatt. Hopefully my own writings reach out and touch others with gentle reminders about living, loving, becoming more aware and welcoming all around. Though I do go about it a far different way than Kilowatt does. Sometimes my journal can be like having truth which may feel like shit rubbed in ones face. Thanks for the nice compliment and your journal is lovely.
from hamiltonian :
Love your journal..
from nicim :
You asked me once how I would describe myself if I were to describe me as I do others in my favorites section. I finally have the answer. NiciM: Because you really, truly, believe LIATI. Thanks for the notes you've left from time to time. They are appreciated more than you know. I am remiss to be just now saying so. If you have a chance - find the entries called "The Box" and "Let's Talk About the One". It may be that Anna is, at last, beginning to understand.

As you should be quite well aware of, I love and adore Sean, Kevin, Katie, and Joseph. They are each such unique, thoughtful, delightful, considerate, artistic, funny, and passionate children. Furthermore, it was my extreme pleasure to manipulate the colors of Seans beautiful photograph of the lovely Katie. I am so pleased that each of you is contented with its outcome. "We need to fill a childs bucket of self-esteem so high that the rest of the world cant poke enough holes in it to drain it dry." ~ Alvin Price ~ I thank you for allowing me to express my love and respect for you and your children by engaging in this and other unexpected gestures for you and them, that hopefully possesses a combination of novelty, beauty, and graciousness. May you devour your miraculous life like a sweet peach and let the juice dribble down your chin.

"To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance." ~ Oscar Wilde ~ Happy Valentines Day! In honor of the holiday and in the spirit of love, may you court yourself the way you would desire your ideal lover would court you. Recall the ways you have pleasured, pampered, served and loved other people in your life. How many of those loving actions, thoughts, and things have you ever given yourself? Therefore, do something nice for yourself today: indulge in one perfect chocolate; buy yourself a small present; go out for lunch; call your best friend; or whatever will give you a lift. Do not think about it, do something. Love yourself, you deserve it.

"A friend is one to whom one may pour out all the contents of one's heart, chaff and grain together, knowing that the gentlest of hands will take and sift it, keep what is worth keeping and with a breath of kindness blow the rest away."~ Arabian Proverb ~ I thank you for all the lovely acts of kindness that you have bestowed upon me. As always, I thank you for your flowering words of esteem. As I have previously mentioned to you, today, may you walk the trail of self-kindness and enchantment that involves accepting constant change and embracing your process of shedding. May you keep shedding: unhealthy relationships, unfulfilling responsibilities, negative programming and thoughts, boring and unhealthy habits. May all of your shedding be an exhilarating process that results with a more fine-tuned and burnished you. (For it is my desire for myself to experience today as well.) And remember: In you I gaze upon a divine creation, a bold soul, and a splendid friend. May you bask in the brilliance of your dazzling reflection today.

I thank you for your kind words directed towards me in your entry entitled A Love Letter ... Delightful Friends. I am so pleased that the poignancy and powerful connotations of the sacred greeting Namaste resonated as deeply within you as it does with me. "Every day, think as you wake up, today I am fortunate to be alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others; to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. I am going to have kind thoughts towards others, I am not going to get angry or think badly about others. I am going to benefit others as much as I can. ~ The Dalai Lama ~ I wish you a flashlight to softly illuminate all the obstacles that you can, if you choose, now dissolve within your life. I wish you a magical department store where you can shop for new possibilities. I wish you a very, very big shopping bag (made from 100% post-consumer recycled materials of course) to bring all those possibilities home.

"Life is to be fortified by many friendships. To love and to be loved is the greatest happiness of existence." ~ Sydney Smith ~ It is almost an impossible feat to gather the words to eloquently respond to your latest love letter addressed to me. "Love is the flower of life, and blossoms unexpectedly and without law, and must be plucked where it is found, and enjoyed for the brief hour of its duration." ~ D. H. Lawrence ~ My friend, I am moved beyond words by your extremely generous and considerate nature. The weft and weave of your resplendent words of esteem have fabricated the most luxurious, exquisite, vibrant, and rare silks to grace the fabric of my mind. I thank you for the extravagant gift of your lyrical and charming words of praise. "A Friend may well be reckoned the masterpiece of Nature." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson ~ Regarding your desire to play the piano again as one of your two new skills to master within this year, I would like to share the following thoughts with you. If you are a beginning musician and want to learn piano, sit down at the piano and touch the keys. Great. Tomorrow you can sit down at the piano and touch the keys again. Five minutes a day is better than no minutes a day. Five minutes might lead to ten, just as a tentative embrace leads to something more passionate. Making art is making love with life. We open ourselves to art as to love. Instead of thinking about conquering an art form, think instead of kissing it hello, wooing it, and exploring it in small, enticing steps. How many of us have burned through promising relationships by moving too swiftly? How many of us have burned out in new creative ventures by setting goals too high? Most of us. Creativity is inspiration coupled with initiative. It is an act of faith and, in that phrase, the word "act" looms as large as the "faith" that it requires. "Wholeheartedness is a precious gift, but no one can actually give it to you. You have to find the path that has heart and then walk it impeccably . . . It's like someone laughing in your ear, challenging you to figure out what to do when you don't know what to do. It humbles you. It opens your heart." ~ Pema Chodron ~ I thank you once again for your friendship for it sustains me. Today, may you further express your love and respect for the people that share your life by engaging in unexpected gestures for them that possess a combination of novelty, beauty, and graciousness. "A friend is one to whom one may pour out all the contents of one's heart, chaff and grain together, knowing that the gentlest of hands will take and sift it, keep what is worth keeping and with a breath of kindness blow the rest away." ~ Arabian Proverb

Shannon, I read your long comment on DangerSpouse's notes page. If no one else has told you yet (and I'm betting that they have), that long comment in which you ask what prose is... That is prose. In fact, that is excellent, riveting, stream-of-consciousness prose. I sincerely hope you will give us more of that on a regular basis on your web site. Either way, though, I promise to return often to read your diary. Sincerely, Mike.
from candoor :
you deserve all the praise you get, believe it, and continue being the inspiration you are... you have a knock for seeing what you want to see in others and choosing positivity helps them see their inner light... you are a great motivator and I hope this year sees you take your gifts into the professional world... may you believe in yourself as much, if not more, than your friends here (and everywhere) and your kids believe in you... love to each of them too :)

The letters of self-reflection and appreciation generated by your children are quite amazing. I greatly admire the gentle nurturing manner in which you and Michael are raising your four remarkable children. Both of you, in your own unique style, are rearing conscientious, confident, honest, compassionate, talented, loving, generous, curious, contented, and insightful people. Upon reflection concerning their letters, I am reminded of several quotations: In the province of the mind, what one believes to be true either is true or becomes true. ~ John Lilly ~ If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke. ~ Brendan Francis ~ Whatever you are by nature, keep to it; never desert your line of talent. Be what nature intended you for and you will succeed. ~ Sydney Smith ~ Parents can only give good advice or put them on the right paths, but the final forming of a person's character lies in their own hands. ~ Anne Frank ~ Becoming responsible adults is no longer a matter of whether children hang up their pajamas or put dirty towels in the hamper, but whether they care about themselves and others -- and whether they see everyday chores as related to how we treat this planet. ~ Eda Leshan ~ If I had influence with the good fairy who is supposed to preside over the christening of all children, I should ask that her gift to each child in the world be a sense of wonder so indestructible that it would last throughout life. ~ Rachel Carson ~ You can understand and relate to most people better if you look at them -- no matter how old or impressive they may be -- as if they are children. For most of us never really grow up or mature all that much -- we simply grow taller. O, to be sure, we laugh less and play less and wear uncomfortable disguises like adults, but beneath the costume is the child we always are, whose needs are simple, whose daily life is still best described by fairy tales. ~ Leo Rosten ~ Please thank each of your children for their willingness to share themselves so freely with others. I have been greatly inspired by their letters. May your holidays be filled with an inordinate amount of enchantment!

I am at a loss of words to formulate the proper response to your incredibly generous, astoundingly overwhelming, sentiments of admiration for me, regarding one of my recent entries, Seeing the Obvious. It is as if I am a child on Christmas morning, waking up early and lying in bed, full of adrenaline as the sun rises and light filters through the windows, anxious for my parents to open the bedroom door and say, "Good morning! It's time to unwrap presents." Reading your words, I glimpse a package wrapped in slick vibrant red paper; a package bigger than I anticipated, bigger than I dreamed, bigger than I am. Finally, as I untie the bow and tear hungrily into the paper, I discover a gift more exciting, fulfilling, precious, and wonderful than I had ever dreamed. I thank you for the treasured gift that is your words of loveliness. May today be a day of sparkling vibrancy, energy, passion, productivity, and immense fulfillment for you.

"I'm gonna sit right down and write myself a letter And make believe it came from you I'm gonna write words, oh, so sweet They're gonna knock me off my feet A lotta kisses on the bottom, I'll be glad I've got 'em..." ~ Joe Young ~ Yet, another quote that upon reading it elicited thoughts of you! I am considering adopting the elegance and loving style of your diary and feature the preceding quotation within a possible future entry of my own. I thank you for reading my entry today and once again, my delightful "Soap Roll," you amaze me with creating something truly unique and majestic from my unassuming beginnings with your A Love Letter ... Shannon: I thank you for your words of encouragement and admiration. The feelings of adoration are entirely mutual, my friend! Your words of esteem have provided an extreme lift to the beginning of this day. I am extremely pleased that you were touched by my "Snake Medicine" entry. Compassion is a difficult act for most of us to practice, however, I am learning more each and every day. I thank you for the constant surprise of discovering delectable morsels of love, acceptance, and praise all deliciously contained within your heartfelt notes and emails addressed to me throughout the day! I thank you for the time and energy you invest to write them. Have I told you today that you are a beam of sunlight, spreading love and friendship through the touch of your warm glow? I treasure our developing friendship and I thank you for the opportunity to know you. Thanks for being just you and enhancing my life in the process. "Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around." ~ Leo Buscaglia ~ I wish you thoughts of peace, happiness, and contentment.

The world outside is a mirror, reflecting the good and the bad, the joy and sorrow, laughter and tears within me. Some people are difficult mirrors to look into, but you . . . Walk out like someone suddenly born into color. Do it now." ~ Rumi
